Sisters, are you really believing God’s Word? Do you take all that the Lord says to you seriously and believe every word of it? Do you do so even when it challenges your convictions? We ought to. The Coming Judgment
1 Now, beloved, I am writing this second epistle to you; in both, I am stirring up your pure minds by causing you to remember 2 In order for you to be mindful of the words that were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Savior, spoken by us, the apostles;
3 Knowing this first, that in the last days there will come mockers, walking according to their own personal lusts, 4 And asking, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the forefathers died, everything has remained the same as from the beginning of creation.” 5 But this fact is hidden from them– they themselves choosing to ignore it– that by the Word of God the heavens existed of old, and the earth came forth out of water and amid water, 6 By which the world at that time, having been deluged with water, had itself been destroyed. 7 But the present heavens and earth are being held in store by His Word, and are being reserved for fire in the day of the judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
8 Now, beloved, do not let this one fact be hidden from you: that with the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not delaying the promise of His coming, as some in their own minds reckon delay; rather, He is longsuffering toward us, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 However, the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night in which the heaven itself shall disappear with a mighty roar, and the elements shall pass away, burning with intense heat, and the earth and the works in it shall be burned up.
11 Since all these things are going to be destroyed, what kind of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 Looking forward to and striving for the coming of the day of God, during which the heavens, being on fire, shall be destroyed, and the elements, burning with intense heat, shall melt? 13 But according to His promise, we look forward to a new heaven and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14 For this reason, beloved, since you are anticipating these things, be diligent, so that you may be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless. 15 And bear in mind that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation, exactly as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has also written to you; 16 As he has also in all his epistles, speaking in them concerning these things; in which are some things that are difficult to understand, which the ignorant and unstable are twisting and distorting, as they also twist and distort the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 Therefore, beloved, since you know this in advance, be on guard against such practices, lest you be led astray with the error of the lawless ones, and you fall from your own steadfastness; 18 Rather, be growing in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and into the day of eternity. Amen. — 2 Peter 3 | A Faithful Version (AFV) Holy Bible, A Faithful Version © 2020 A Faithful Version. All Rights Reserved. Back To Basics Lesson 11: Growing Gains
When you make a decision to follow Jesus, what happens next? When you get baptized, does that mean you have arrived as a Christian? Today we will study what happens after you receive salvation.
Let's read together 1 Chronicles 29:11; Psalm 23:4; Luke 10:17-20; and Romans 8:38-39.
We can have victory over sin and salvation through Jesus. No matter what happened in your past, Jesus can give you a new life. Even if you engaged in dark spiritual practices or you were held down by demonic powers, Jesus can overcome it all (Colossians 1:13-14). All you have to do is make a conscious choice to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and forsake your old ways. The Bible states you cannot compromise on this issue. You cannot serve two masters. You must love one and hate the other (Matthew 6:24).
Let's read together 2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Colossians 2:6; Ephesians 6:12-18; Philippians 3:7-14; and 2 Peter 3:18.
The Bible exhorts to grow in Christ. This means you need to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus. Why is this important? Let's discuss a couple of examples to better explain this.
How do you know if you have a good friend? You can't claim to have a good friend after only one conversation with a person. You have to spend enough time with that person and learn about who that person is. It is only after spending a significant amount of time that you can get to a point where you say, "I know this person really well."
Another example would be a basketball player joining a professional basketball team. While that player may be talented enough to make the team, that player cannot simply show up to the arena just before tip-off and expect to be an impactful player. That player must learn the team plays. That player must train diligently and work to correct any flaws and weaknesses. That player must take the coach's advice. That player must spend time with the teammates on the court to develop a rapport.
In the same way, you cannot develop a strong relationship with Jesus if all the time you spend with Him is going to church for an hour once a week. You need to take the time to know Jesus and learn about Him. So, how do we grow in Christ?
Let's read together Jeremiah 29:12; Luke 18:1; Colossians 4:2; and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
Prayer is our guaranteed communication link with God. When we pray to God, it is like getting to know Him better through conversation. We can come to God with all our problems. We can thank Him for all the blessings He has given us. Prayer will draw us closer to Jesus.
Let's read together Deuteronomy 11:18-23; Psalm 1:1-2; Acts 17:11; and 2 Timothy 3:14-17.
Daily Bible study is essential to help us grow in Christ. The Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, testifies of Jesus. We can learn about His life, study His character, and follow His example (Psalm 77:11-12; John 15:5-8).
Let's read together Ephesians 5:19-20 and Hebrews 10:25.
We can grow in Christ when we meet with other believers. Our faith in Jesus and our relationship with Him will deepen when we worship together as a group. We will speak more on this topic in the next lesson.
Let's read together Matthew 23:31-46 and James 1:27.
We can grow in Christ when we engage in service to others. Jesus spent much of His ministry healing and meeting the needs of the people. We should follow Jesus' example and do likewise. Our relationship with Jesus will strengthen when we help others and not be so focused on self.
So, how do we know we are truly growing in Christ?
Let's read together Galatians 5:22-25.
When we grow in Christ, our character will conform to be more like His. Our lives will change. We may not notice it ourselves, but people will see something is different about us. When we grow in Christ, we will manifest the fruits of the spirit.
Let's read together Galatians 2:16; James 2:14-26; Philippians 1:6 and 2:12.
We can do nothing on our own merit to earn salvation - it is a gift from God. When we receive salvation from Jesus, we are forgiven of all sins and declared righteous. This is called justification. Jesus receives us as we are, imperfect and full of sin. However, He does not leave us there. Jesus wants us to grow in Him and deepen our relationship with Him. This process is called sanctification. Day by day, we conform closer to the image of Jesus. This is the work of a lifetime and Jesus promises us one day we will be perfect in Him.
Friend, are you willing to grow in Christ?

Growing in Christ
We have victory over sin and salvation through Jesus
1 Chronicles 29:11 - Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.
Psalm 23:4 - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Luke 10:17-20 - Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
Romans 8:38-39 - For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Colossians 1:13-14 - He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 2:14-15 - having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
2 Peter 2:9 - then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,
1 John 4:4 - You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
We need to grow in Christ
John 20:21 - So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 - Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Colossians 2:6 - As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him
Ephesians 6:12-18 - For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Philippians 3:7-14 - But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 - Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18 - but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
How do we grow in Christ?
Pray
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Study the Word of God - the Bible
Psalm 1:1-2 - Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
Follow the example of Christ
Psalm 77:11-12 - I will remember the works of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds.
Meet with other followers of Christ
Ephesians 5:19-20 - speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Hebrews 10:25 - not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Be of service to others
James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
How we know we are truly growing in Christ
Matthew 25:31-40 - When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:41-46 - Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Galatians 5:22-25 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

HYPOCRITES OR FALSE CHRISTIANS?  BY STEVE FINNELL
According to a 2012 Gallup poll 77% of those living in the U.S.A. identify as Christians. How many of the 77% are hypocrites or false Christians?
According to a May 22, 2014 Gallup poll only 46% of those living in the U.S.A. oppose killing unborn babies by abortion.
Obviously a large percentage of those who identify as Christian see nothing wrong with murdering unborn babies, would they be hypocrites or false Christians?
According to a Gallup poll July, 2013 54 % of those living in the U.S.A. support same sex marriage.
If 77% say they are Christians and 54% of the population say they support gay marriage, then there is lot of support among those who claim to be believers in Christ for gay marriage. Are they hypocrites or false Christians?
Do the Scriptures support homosexual marriage and killing unborn babies?
1 John 3:15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.(NKJV)
If killing unborn innocent babies is not murder, then what would it be?
Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."(NKJV)
The sexually immoral and murderers will have their part in the lake of fire.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?....nor homosexuals, nor sodomites.....11 And such were some of you . But you were washed, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.(NKJV)
When it comes to participating or approving of abortion and same sex marriage, it should be past tense if you are claiming to be a Christian. The apostle Paul said SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU not  ARE SOME OF YOU.
If you claim to be a Christian and approve of sinful practices or live a sinful lifestyle, then you are either a hypocrite or a false Christian.
In a 2008 Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life 57% of Evangelical Christians said there might be other ways to heaven other than Jesus.
Would that indicate hypocrisy or false Christians?
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (NKJV)
ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE?
Mark 16:16 He who has believed, and has been immersed, will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.(T.B.V.O.T.N.T) by Chester Estes
Galatians 3:17-27....26 Since you are sons of God through that belief, by Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been immersed into Christ , have put on Christ.(T.B.V.O.T.N.T) by Chester Estes
If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead. If you claim Jesus as Lord and Savior. If you have been baptized into Christ for the remission of your sins, then you are a Christian.
The question remains, how many of the 77% who claim to be Christians are hypocrites or false Christians?

Shepherding the Flock of God With All Due Care and Attention (1 Peter 5:2)
By Dr Paul MacDonald RN MA Dipl
Scripture teaches that all Christians (both Great and Small) should (as we have said previously) watch with steadfast unconditional loving care, attention and prayer (Galatians 6:1-2, Hebrews 12:15-16, 1 John 3:16-18, 5:16) and that congregational guardians (Elders) should also be appointed with special to this (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5).
These Elders who are chosen and appointed to look after God’s (Yahweh’s) people just as Shepherds look after sheep (Acts 20:28-31, 1 Peter 5:1-4) and that would lead the sheep by their personal example as imitators of Christ (1 Peter 5:3, 1 Corinthians 11:1) away from all that could be dangerous and harmful into all that is good and virtuous.
By the very virtue of the fact of their role, these Elders (Presbyters) are also called “Shepherds”, “Pastors” and “Ministers” (Ephesians 4:11) and “Overseers” (Acts 20:28, Titus 1:7) and are spoken of in other terms with regards to leadership (1 Thessalonians 5:12, Hebrews 13:7, 17, 24).
Like Christ, these men have come to serve and not to be served, for those who want to be the greatest, must become the very least amidst his bothers. Members of the Congregation (for their part) are to acknowledge the God given authority of those leaders and to follow their lead (Hebrews 13:17).
This pattern can already be seen in the Hebrew Scriptures whereby God (Yahweh) himself is the Shepherd of Israel (Psalms 80:1) and the Kings, Priests, Prophets, and Elders (local rulers) are seen to be acting as God’s (Yahweh’s) agents in an under shepherd kind of role (Numbers 11:24-30, Deuteronomy 27:1, Ezra 5:5, 6:14, 10:8,Psalms 77:20, Jeremiah 23:1-4, Ezekiel 34 and Zechariah 11:16-17).
In the Greek Scriptures, it is Jesus that is the Good Shepherd(John 10:11-30) and who is also the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4) and the Elders are nothing more than “subordinates”.
To highlight this point of importance, the aged Apostle Peter calls himself an Elder “under” that of Christ (1 Peter 5:1) remembering that Shepherding was an important role when restoring Peter in his Ministry (John 21:15-17).
Some (not all) Elders teach (1 Timothy 5:17, Titus 1:9, Hebrews 13:7) and (Ephesians 4:11-16) states that Christ gave the Body (Ecclesia: Church) Pastors and Teachers so as to equip the whole Body (every individual member) for the Ministry through the discovery and development of each and every individuals personal talents and spiritual gifts.
The Congregational Leadership envisaged by Christ and the Apostles, there (probably) may very well have been Teachers who were not Elders, as well as Elders that did not teach, and also a mix of both that both lead and taught.
The Pastoral Role of the Congregation by Elders is a very serious one and one that should not be taken lightly, for it both “demands” and “requires” a “Mature” and “Stable” Character with a very well ordered and balanced personal lifestyle and someone that is highly skilled in the use of God’s (Yahweh’s) word (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
Scripture states that the Pastoral Role should not be one that is given to someone that is a “new convert”, for it is (as we can see) a role that requires maturity and the ability to discern truth from error when guiding others on the road to life.
The Elder that serves “faithfully” and in “Truth” and “handles the word of God aright”, without having an eye on how he can “personally gain” whatsoever, and nor “lording over other people’s faith” (like can be seen in most Cults and high control groups of today), he will (without a doubt) in the end be rewarded for all his good work (Hebrews 13:17, 1 Peter 5:4 and 1 Timothy 4:7-8).

Sensitive and complex cases
Week 8… November 16
Restorative justice in sensitive cases
Restorative justice repairs the harm caused by crime. When victims, offenders and community members meet to decide how to do that, the results can be transformational. Complex and Sensitive cases includes domestic violence/abuse, sex offences/sexual abuse, hate crime and gangs.
There are some known disadvantages of using Restorative justice in sensitive cases, some of which includes: the less powerful party may agree from fear of later retribution, persons charged and sentenced for these crimes may not be interesting in talking about these issues with the victims, and for the victims, the slightest of remarks are disagreement can cause re-traumatization. Regardless of these disadvantages of RJ applicability to sensitive cases, there is a high success rate of RJ in these cases. Furthermore, Restorative justice models are varied and flexible, dependent on the preferences of the parties involved. Communication can take place through direct contact or indirect contact, so this means, regardless of the issues, RJ can be applicable.
As it relates to sex offences/sex abuse, the offender is the only one that can answer why they carry out their actions. Victims can be scared for years because of the unanswered questions as it relates to their victimization. With restorative justice, the need of the victim is met through communication with the victim and offender. This can help the victim gain answers which has been unanswered to them.
Back in the days, domestic abuse/violence was seen as a private partner matter, in today’s time, this is no longer the case.  “Often a woman would make a complaint and then withdraw it later, either under pressure from her partner or because she did not want to go through the trauma of the court process” (Liebmann, 2007, pg. 289). This led to the development of a victim–offender mediation scheme (Plymouth Mediation) for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. This scheme was geared towards bringing partners together after three different phases of assessing the issues in order to bring the disputes to an understandable ending. This scheme was a success.
In South Africa, the implications on the victims in domestic violence cases are very detrimental. If they fine an offender for assault, then there was less food on the table and the family suffered. If the offender went to prison, the family was often destitute; and when the man came out of prison, the stigma of prison prevented him getting re-employed. Due to this, cases were more and more referred to the victim offender conferencing (VOC). This leaded to an increased case level to the VOC project over the three years of the project (from 43 per cent to 58 per cent to 76 per cent.) Partly because mediation seemed to be successful and partly because of a decision to increase the number of serious cases (Liebman, 2007).
In hate crime, restorative approaches such as mediation can provide another perspective that leads to some understanding, which can lead to an apology and changed behaviour for the offender. Restorative justice (RJ) allow People to see each other as human beings rather than just stereotypes or simply punishing offender and leaving victims with unanswered questions. In Canada, results indicated that a restorative justice approach could be successfully applied at the pre-sentence stage in cases of serious crime. Over 70% of accepted cases involved crimes against the person; 20% were property crimes and 9% involved driving offences.
Interestingly, over half of the offenders were first time offenders and the majority of them were assessed as low to medium risk. This highlighted the sign that they can be restored. Only 15% were high-risk offenders, who had longer criminal histories, which highlighted that they may be less remorseful. High-risk offenders require more intensive intervention and specialized treatment plans, which many restorative justice programs are not designed to provide.
Sensitive cases can work in restorative justice. With sensitive cases, participants were highly satisfied with the restorative approach, especially when compared to participants who experienced only the traditional criminal justice system. Victims and offenders were offered the opportunity to actively participate in the decision-making process, and in some cases, providing a sentencing recommendation. Overall, individuals affected by serious crime were empowered to achieve satisfying justice through a restorative approach.
Linking Restorative justice through religion
Restorative Justice emphasizes a cooperative process between both victim and offender to repair harm done. The Bible refers more to restorative justice than retributive because of its idea of recognition of wrongdoing, repentance, and reconciliation (Lee, 2020). Example of this is: Numbers 5:6-7 which states “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the LORD is guilty 7 and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.” More examples includes: Leviticus 6:1-7, Ezekiel 33:11, Isaiah 53:5, Micah 7:18, and Galatians 6:1.
Restorative justice was Jesus best approach to solving disputes. God sends warning messages through prophets, like Jeremiah (22:3), and Amos (5:6-7). However, Israel’s populous continue to oppress the poor, so God gave Israel a command. In the words of the Prophet Isaiah, ‘Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression…’ (1:17). The justice God wanted was not only retributive but mostly restorative. Restorative justice did not only ask for justice, but it actively seeks out where injustices can be made right, it corrects and reverses the damage done to the oppressed and make the concerns of others your own. This is why Jesus overturns an eye for an eye in the Sermon on the mount, replacing it with the system of enemy love, and why he also reveres Lamech's declaration of extreme violence by making it that we forgive 77 times instead of 7 times (Matt 18:22).

The Coming Judgment
1 Now, beloved, I am writing this second epistle to you; in both, I am stirring up your pure minds by causing you to remember 2 In order for you to be mindful of the words that were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Savior, spoken by us, the apostles;
3 Knowing this first, that in the last days there will come mockers, walking according to their own personal lusts, 4 And asking, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the forefathers died, everything has remained the same as from the beginning of creation." 5 But this fact is hidden from them-- they themselves choosing to ignore it-- that by the Word of God the heavens existed of old, and the earth came forth out of water and amid water, 6 By which the world at that time, having been deluged with water, had itself been destroyed.
Self-Examination
Tumblr media
Self-examination is the ability to analyze your heart condition, and your reasoning. From which basis do you reason from: God or Satan the Devil? It is only possible to reason from one of the two, so if we find ourselves doing things that are Satanic, then we probably need to examine ourselves to make some necessary adjustments.
One big part of self-examination is in the heart. God is greater than our hearts, so we must bend it towards him. “For if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our hearts condemn us not, then we have confidence toward God.” (1 John 3:20-21). “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5, 10:12, Matthew 22:37). We must adjust our heart condition so that it’s more about spiritual things than the physical stuff, like food, water, etc (Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:2-3, Matthew 6:19-21, 33). “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33).
One very important element of self-examination is our knowledge. Because there are many people going about in the world teaching falsehood, we have to make sure that we are sticking with the Bible and its details at all times (1 John 4:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:21, etc). If we stick with the truth, it will make us free from the troubles of society (John 8:31-32, 36). And we have to meditate on that to connect all the various stories. It’s like connecting the dots on a paper. You have to be able to draw all the lines and connections in order to make one picture.
Self-examination is a lot like meditation, when you think about it, and many righteous ones of God had a habit of meditating in bed. “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.” (Psalms 4:4 - see also Psalms 77:6, 11-12). Now, this doesn’t mean we should be staying up, but that we should meditate about the Bible from time to time, if not always. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8). We do this so that some of these puzzles that we might have can be answered, by God's intervention. Our knowledge and belief only grow when we meditate, not when we just read.
Many people accuse others of problems they might be having when it’s actually themselves who could've caused such problems. Therefore, when calamities come by, we should know whether it’s Satan the Devil, ourselves, or God punishing us as a result of our sins. “Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:39-40 - see also Jeremiah 30:15).
We also have to examine our works. “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.” (Galatians 6:4). We cannot just be studiers of the Bible, but we have to be doing what it says, and if our actions aren’t in line, we must fix them. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5). We should be like David. “I  thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.” (Psalms 119:59-60).

Modern deity’s dilemma...When god wants you to suffer...but you turn to medical science...and get relief...
Since religion has no viable solutions for human suffering...they simply teach that it must be welcomed*...enjoyed...relished...

Psalm 119:71 “It was good for me to be afflicted...” (but I went to the doctor anyway...!)
Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you...”  So the bible god rejects those that choose to trust in god...and lean not, on their own understanding...
