summary : you call for help, and max is the first person that comes to your mind. and to say that max is baffled is an understatement.

a/n : i am girl-bossing through exam today, and i decided to write this as a reward. i also listen to asmr roleplay by gibi asmr and moonlight cottage asmr while writing this and its good KSJNSKDJNAKD SORRY-

max was in the middle of doing his daily exercise when his phone suddenly rang. he press the slow down button on his treadmill as he simply answer the call from his earbud.

"good morning to you, ice princess." he happily answer, still walking on his treadmill.

"max, I think I made a big mistake."

hearing your soft whimper he stop the machine.

"y/n, what's wrong?"

"i kiss daniel."

"what?!"

"i kiss him, max. we kissed."

max had to hold himself as he listen to you, leaning his body on the railing of his treadmill. his lips are sealed in thin line, trying to think of a reaction.

he is conflicted about this; in one hand he want to cheer on daniel for finally man up and make a move. on the other hand, you sounds so scared and he understand that this whole territory is foreign to you. so he just keep his mouth sealed.

"max, say something!"

"i–uhh–i don't know, y/n. it was just a kiss right? is it a bad thing?" he answer.

max decided that he is done with workout, so he got off from the treadmill taking his phone with him as he grab a towel. he glance at the clock on the wall. its 5:34 and he wonder why you already wake up this early.

"wait, where are you right now and why you up this early y/n?"

"i'm.. i dunno where i am right now. i was heading back to szeged from budapest but i just stop, i'm not even in highway right now. i dunno where i am, and i need a breather."

"god, okay calm down. are you alone?"

"yes."

"shit, y/n. send me your location so i can check on you. and also, how did you end up in budapest? what happen?"

and after 45 minutes of you rambling in your car, on the side of the road, in the middle of god knows where, you finish your story.

"- and that is how i end up in this shit. just lost me ol' cobber for doing something stupid." you said, a little aussie side of you were showing.

max just open his mouth in disbelief or in silence? either way he don't know what to do. yes what you and daniel did are stupid, but from his perspective this is a long-awaited miracle. finally daniel grew a pear and you being smart. but damn, that was something. and he is drunk, so it doesn't count, i guess.

"that's it max, i'm gonna fly my ass back to straya before daniel catch me in my house. i'm running away, maybe move to-i dunno-alaska?" you said.

"what? y/n, don't do that! you guys had just reconcile, now you want to run away?" max answered as he walk back to his room, straight to his computer as he turn on his simulator.

"well so much for reconciliation! i fucked up!"

he open discord from his phone and quickly type 'sos' to the discord server that he had made few months ago, back when the party-planning were made. lando had call themself 'project y/niel' and there are few drivers there that willing to help daniel and you; lewis, lando, charles, carlos (surprisingly), george, and lastly alex.

"maxie, wil je dat ik met dit ga doen?" maxie, what should i do with this?

"y/n, je zult toch tot kalmte moeten komen, en de enige manier omdat te doen is door te ademen. okay?" y/n, you have to calm down and the only way you're going to do that is to breathe. okay?

"okay."

"alright here's what i want you to do, you're gonna go back to your place and sleep. its almost 7 now, like it or not you will have to sleep. i'll deal with daniel so you don't have to worry." he command you, biting his lower lips as he wait for any reaction on the discord server.

"alright then, i'm gonna drive home first. talk to you later max."

"take care y/n. don't do anything stupid."

max massaging his throbbing temple as he walk to the fridge, taking a bottle of water before opening it.

he took a chug of the water, emptying the bottle in no time. he chuck the bottle on to the trash bin before reacting to the sad daniel.

"yeah, you are. but it already happen, so you need to calm down."

"what should i do?"

"i'll talk to her dan, don't worry. for now, she need a space okay? and you need to go home. or sleep. either way i need you to, once again, calm down."

"all things aside, i am not regretting this. now that i know what i've been missing, i need her okay? she–god she is going to be the death of me max."

before daniel even react to that, max already ending the call–shaking his head as he let out a tired sigh. he walk towards his patio as he scrolling through his contact before making another call.

"hello? anna? yes, this is max verstappen. i got your number from y/n. hey listen, i need your help with something."

sorry for saying i would post kitty charles blurbs and then didn't actually end up posting kitty charles blurbs. here's like 700 words of a scene that i ended up cutting in the meantime. it's not in the fic anymore but i think it's cute so

“I heard you and Charles had an elevator incident.”

Max stiffens. He looks around the room. The other drivers haven’t arrived to the briefing just quite yet. Carlos walked in alone. He clears his throat. “Who told you that?”

Carlos gives him a weird look, taking the seat beside Max, in the last row of the room. “Charles did…?”

Max blinks. “Oh,” he says, biting his lip. That would make sense. “Yeah, in the hotel.”

As more drivers start to populate the room—George and Lewis, then Kevin and Nico—all taking seats in the middle—Carlos asks, “Did anything happen?”

Max swallows. “Did Charles tell you anything happened?”

“He would not tell me anything, only that you were stuck in the lift for half an hour,” Carlos responds. “I thought you might say more.”

Max shrugs. “Nothing really happened. We of course had to wait to be rescued, but it was fine.”

Carlos narrows his eyes. “That is all that happened?” he asks, suspicious.

“That is all that happened,” Max answers, frowning. “Why?”

Carlos shrugs. “I would just think that, you know, because you are—like that about him, recently, that something might have happened.”

“I am not like anything about him, lately,” Max mumbles, crossing his arms over his chest, sinking into his plastic chair. Carlos doesn’t press the topic, so Max pulls out his phone to check his iRacing server. He busies himself with that for a few minutes as the drivers finish arriving, remembering why he tries to arrive at these as on-time as possible.

A minute before the meeting begins, Max hears the last two drivers arrive, speaking in loud and rapid French.

There aren’t that many seats left—in Max’s row, there remains only a seat on his left, between him and Alex—but there are a couple of side-by-side seats unoccupied in the middle of the room.

Charles and Pierre greet Carlos. After that, Pierre keeps walking to find one of the middle seats, only for Charles to start squeezing into Max and Carlos’ row. 

He takes the seat next to Max, his tail swishing.

Finally realizing he’s been left alone, Pierre turns around, a confused, betrayed look on his face. Max has to suppress his urge to snort. Carlos is looking at them, curiously.

Aware of the eyes, Max puts his phone down, pockets it, turns to Charles, then says, “I think I am going to say something about the barrier after turn one, in Canada.”

Charles tilts his head to the side, ears upright. “Did you have trouble with it?”

“No, but I liked the run-off, and I don’t think that there was much advantage to gain from it. Like,” he goes on, curling one hand to imitate the corner, using the other to mimic his car, “if you cut the corner, you lose time braking, so when you rejoin the track, you will have trouble gaining speed again. I am not sure why they thought it was necessary to change.”

Charles hums. “I don’t know. I think it was a good change.” He pauses, then his shoulders shake with a small giggle. He admits, “I think I used that corner to save time in the past. I think that the turn seven wall is a problem, though. I had some trouble with it during the race.”

“Really? You didn’t seem to lose time there. I saw you losing time going into sector two.”

“Ah, yeah. The car did not seem to like seventh gear there. How did you deal with that?”

“I—”

“Leclerc. Verstappen. We’ll be starting now, unless either of you want to lead the meeting?” Niels says into the microphone, and a couple of the other drivers laugh. Max hadn’t even realized that the room had gone silent.

Adorably, Charles’ ears wiggle, his tail bristles, and he turns to face the front of the room, pouting. 

Max doesn’t end up saying anything about the turn one barrier. There are too many other drivers with grid penalty grievances that he can’t get a single word in.

It is rather boring.

Charles seems to agree as well. As Fernando is complaining about something, he lets out a cute yawn, blinking slowly. He is sleepier, Max remembers from the lift.

Heart stuttering, Max raises a hand, brings it up to Charles’ head. Gently, he scratches the base of one of Charles’ ears. Charles lets out a soft, content purr, tilting his head toward Max’s hand, pleased. Max smiles when Charles rests his head on his shoulder, letting his eyes fall shut—shivers when Charles’ tail curls around his back.

DIE ERMITTLUNG - Plakat und Trailer

Regisseur RP Kahl hat das Theaterstück "Die Ermittlung" von Peter Weiss mit 60 Schauspieler:innen für die Kinoleinwand inszeniert. Der heute veröffentlichte Trailer gibt einen ersten Einblick in das künstlerisch radikale Projekt, das Kino, Theater und neueste Broadcast-Techniken verbindet, um einen eindringlichen und zeitgemäßen Beitrag zur Erinnerungskultur zu leisten.

Im Zentrum des Films stehen ein Richter, ein Verteidiger und ein Ankläger, die im Rahmen der Verhandlung auf 28 Zeug:innen treffen, die von ihren Erlebnissen und Beobachtungen in Auschwitz berichten. Weitere 11 Zeug:innen der ehemaligen Lagerverwaltung sagen vor Gericht aus. Die 18 Angeklagten werden im Prozess mit Beschreibungen der Zeug:innen konfrontiert und sollen Stellung beziehen.

Das Theaterstück wurde 1965 uraufgeführt und hat bis heute nichts von seinem Schrecken verloren: Es basiert auf persönlichen Aufzeichnungen, Zeitungsartikeln und Protokollen des ersten Frankfurter Auschwitz-Prozesses (1963 bis 1965). In unmissverständlich klarer Sprache von Peter Weiss zu einem lyrischen Klagegesang verdichtet und montiert, konfrontiert das Stück Täter und Opfer und lässt das Grauen in Auschwitz spürbar werden.

Nach einer intensiven, vierwöchigen Probenzeit haben 60 Schauspieler:innen den Text von Peter Weiss für die Kinoleinwand zum Leben erweckt. An insgesamt fünf Drehtagen wurden die einzelnen Gesänge im Studio Berlin Adlershof mit einem ausgefeilten visuellen Konzept in nur einer Einstellung gedreht - eingefangen von insgesamt acht Kameras.

In den Hauptrollen sind Rainer Bock als Richter, Clemens Schick als Ankläger und Bernhard Schütz als Verteidiger zu sehen. Hochkarätig besetzt sind auch alle anderen Rollen, so werden die Zeug:innen von Andreas Anke, Filipp Avdeev, Elisabeth Duda, Marc Fischer, Arno Frisch, Attila Georg Borlan, Dorka Gryllus, Marek Harloff, André Hennicke, Marcel Hensema, Rony Herman, Marco Hofschneider, Robert Hunger-Bühler, Rene Ifrah, Eva Maria Jost, Christian Kaiser, Klaudiusz Kaufmann, Nicolette Krebitz, Andreas Lechner, Peter Lohmeyer, Jiri Madl, Karl Markovics, Thomas Meinhardt, Robert Mika, Axel Moustache, Dirk Ossig, Axel Pape, Christiane Paul, Barbara Philipp, Andreas Pietschmann, Ralph Schicha, Peter Schneider, Andreas Schröders, Axel Sichrovsky, André Szymanski, Sabine Timoteo, Tom Wlaschiha, Mark Zak und Matthias Zera verkörpert. In Honor of my Nordic Literature, History, Geography, and Linguistics exam on Thursday. Here are some of the books I read so far:

Henrik Ibsen - A Doll's House (1879) Although this is a theater play. I really loved it to be honest with you. It felt very contemporary despite being set in the 19th century. It's the definition of a humanist play/novel.

Jonas Gardell - Don't Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves (2012-2013) This book is made up of a series called Love, Disease, and Death. It was very emotional and beautiful. It reminded me a lot of a TV show called ''It's A Sin'' or ''Pose''

Henning Mankell - Faceless Killers (1991) They say that Swedish crime fiction is the best in the world and they didn't lie. This book was very intense, sad, and well done in my opinion.

Pär Lagerkvist - The Dwarf (1946) Set in my home country, the book really analyses hate in a very deep way. It was definitely a great reading for sure

Selma Lagerlöf - The Wonderful Adventures of Nils (1906) This other book was another great discovery. It's really beautiful and it kinda reminded me of Pinocchio a bit. I loved it honestly

Karin Boye-Kallocaina (1940) Published at the beginning of World War II, this book really focuses on the horrors of authoritarian regimes. I guess this book was the inspiration for George Orwell's 1984

Ludvig Holberg - Niels Klim's Underground Travels (1741) This other reading was really good as well. The plot was very reminiscent of an underground Robinson Crusoe. However, I think this other book was the inspiration for Jules Verne's novel

Snorri Sturluson - Prose Edda (Early 12th Century) This one is a must. If you're interested in Scandinavian Literature and Cultures, this one is the best choice. This book has a mixture of Christian elements but mostly Norse mythology. This is the book where all the Norse myths come from.

On March 4th 1756, the artist Sir Henry Raeburn was born in Edinburgh.

Raeburn lost his father, a mill owner, at an early age, was raised by an older brother, and educated at Heriot’s Hospital. In 1772 he was apprenticed to the jeweller James Gilliland but began painting water-colour miniatures of his friends. He soon attracted the attention of the city’s leading portraitist, David Martin. With guidance from Martin, Raeburn turned to painting in oil and began to develop his personal style. In 1778, he married a wealthy widow of independent means, whose dowry permitted him to devote himself entirely to painting. Through the marriage, he also acquired the Deanhaugh Estate in Stockbridge.

He was later to purchase the neighbouring St. Bernard’s estate and to amass a considerable fortune by feuing both for building the Stockbridge extension of Edinburgh’s New Town. In 1784 he travelled to London where he met Sir Joshua Reynolds whose style was to exert a great influence upon him. On Reynolds’s advice, he spent the following two years studying in Italy.

Raeburn returned to Edinburgh in 1787, set up a studio in George Street, and rapidly established himself as the leading portraitist of Edinburgh society. He was to paint many of the most prominent Scots of the days, gradually developing from bust-sized figures to full length portraits. His reputation spread beyond Edinburgh and he became a member of the Royal Academy in 1815.

Of the paintings I posted, I like the one of musician Niel Gow, the Skating Minister, Robert Walker and perhaps his most well known, Sir Walter Scott. Amongst the others are notable figures during the Scottish Enlightenment, Profeessor Joseph Black , Professor Dugald Stewart, whose memorial on Calton Hill is one of the most photgraphed in Edinburgh, and William Creech, the famous Bookseller and Lord Provost of Edinburgh.

A full moon rises outside.

There, a growl! A moan of terror! A scratching at the door! Finally, a long, terrifying howl, and the glint of a yellow eye that leers at you behind the screen.

Like any creature movie, good werewolf movies are hard to find. In order from least to most terrifying, these are my top ten.

Wolf Children (2012, dir Mamoru Hosoda) : Hana is a young student in Tokyo, meeting a strange man that eventually reveals himself to be a wolf man. As life goes on, and they have children, Hana raises and encourages them to follow their own path.

Wolfwalkers (2020, dir Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart) : Robyn Goodfellow wants to help her father. There are wolves in the woods, and they terrorize villagers, trying to eat their sheep. After Robyn meets a strange girl who lives within the pack who bites her, she begins to question what’s been told about wolves, and about nature. Can it really be controlled?

The Wolf Man (1941, dir George Waggner) : Larry Talbot is coming home. There’s a funeral to arrange, an estranged father to make up with, a new woman to woo. But things take a turn for the worse when he gets bit by what he thinks is a wolf… but ends up being a man.

The Beast Must Die! (1974, dir. Paul Annett) : The most dangerous game is afoot… and Tom Newcliffe is determined to bag himself a werewolf, the last beast for his collection. As the hunt begins, it may end closer to home then he may like.

The Company of Wolves (1984, dir Neil Jordan) : A fantastical fairytale about the dangers of growing up, about men who are hairy on the inside.

Strippers v Werewolves (2012, dir Jonathan Glendening) : A stripper kills a werewolf during a strip tease, and the resulting chaos results in a showdown at the club.

Ginger Snaps (2000, dir John Fawcett) : Who remembers their puberty fondly? Not Ginger. Hair’s coming in weird places, she’s growing a tail, her period just won’t end. Her younger sister Brigitte is watching with horror, knowing that she’s next.

Howl (2015, dir Paul Hyett) : What do you do when a creature attacks a train you’re working on? How far do your responsiblities go? How beholden are you to your passengers?

Good Manners (2017, dir Marco Dutra, Juliana Rojas) : Clara is a nurse from Sao Paulo, looking for a job to help make rent. She meets Ana, a young mom to be - but as Ana’s problems become her own, Clara starts getting attached.

Dog Soldiers (2002, dir Niel Marshall) : A Biritish training excersise goes terribly wrong when the group finds a mauled special ops officer - but the path he leads them down may contain a couple of problems he doesn’t want to elborate on.

Werewolves Within (2021, dir Josh Reuben) : who’s the werewolf. it’s not who you think it is. no, not them either.

The Werewolf of Washington (1973, dir Milton Moses Ginsberg) : poltician goes into werewolf, and like, it’s really affecting him.

James Mason REview:Ivanhoe

So I was in the mood to watch the work of actor James Mason and decided to check out one of his later works Ivanhoe

In this 1982 TV movie King Richard (Julian Glover ) has returned from the CRusades and has teamed up with Robin Hood (DAvid Robb ) to take on three knights who work for Prince John(Ronald Pickup):Sir Reginald Front-de-Boeuf (John Rhyse Davies) who wants to extort Isaac of York (James Mason ),Sir Maurice de Bracy(STuart Wilson ) who wishes to marry Lady Rowena (Lysette Anthony ) and Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert (Sam Niel ) who is in mad lust for ISaacs daughter REbecca(Olivia Hussey )....Oh and there is a guy named Ivanhowe(Anthony Andrews),hes there too

SO I very much enjoy this movie despite it having a big flaw ....IN THAT IVANHOWE IS THE LEAST INTERESTIN?G PART .Oh Anthony Andrews plays him well,and he connects all these threads...He just isnt given enough focus .He is out of commission for most of the movie and honestly....I dont care about his story ,which is about him reconnecting with his father (Played by Michael Hordern )...PArtially cause the father is such a dick I dont care about him either ,cause the movie doesnt care either.The film is far more focused on the stuff around Ivanhowe that he feels like an after thought

That said I do like the movie.....Because the rest of it is so damn good .The action is solid from the jousting scenes to an assault on the villains castle by Richard and Robin Hood to a very eintense sword fight between Ivanhoe and Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert.I also like that the film really focuses on prejudice ,both the feud of the Normans and Saxxons but especially the hatred Isaac and REbecca face for being Jewish

The cast is alll superb (I mean Sam Niel,Stuart Wilson and John Rhyse Davies are the villains how can I not love that),Both George Innes and Tony Haygarth bring levity as Wamba the Fool and Friar Tuck rspectfully ,Michael Hordern is appropriatly pigheaded as Cedric , Wilson and Davies are sinister ,Phillip Locke is scene stealingly evil as the leader of the Knights Templar ,ROnald Pickup is slimey and David Robb is a solid Robin Hood (He also gets the funniest line )

The best performances however go to Julian Glover,James Mason ,Olivia Hussey ,and Sam Niel .Lets Start with Niel who is a solid villain :Arrogant ,obsessive ,creepy and yet there are levels to it ,fighting genuine guilt for his actions .Julian Glover is an actor I associate with bad guys so its fun to see him as a noble king .Olivia Hussey is great as REbecca,on par with Elizabeth Taylors performance in the 1952 film.I think the scene stealer of the movie is James Mason ,Mason while associated with lets say darker parts,had great versitility and when he had the chance could make a very sympathetic characters cause he can make the audience feel his pain

Ovewralll its a fun movie,and I think its on par with the 1952 film
