I keep forgetting I can't send links in asks... I know you're reading it already (sending thoughts and tissues) but I love this reading of the story a lot even if it's shortened (the planets especially).

Betty Blue (1986). A lackadaisical handyman and aspiring novelist tries to support his younger girlfriend as she slowly succumbs to madness.
While this film is just soaked in masculine fantasy, I still enjoyed the first half as a depiction of a manic romance, particularly Béatrice Dalle's magnetic performance as the titular Betty, but good lord, if it doesn't let itself down in the final act where it pivots from sexist to outright misogynistic. The end of Betty's arc left me pretty furious, and I feel would likely colour any repeat viewing of it. Just - - yeah. Not Good. 4/10.

Cut the (Ghenea) crap
I have been anticipating since at least last Friday the very recent rumor overdrive about S and Mrs. Mădălina Ghenea, Romanian Horizontal Extraordinaire and I howled like a pack of hyenas in the dull silence of my flat.
Of all the rumors featuring S and divers representatives of the International Fitness Harem, this one stroke me as the most ridiculous ever. Downright scraping the bottom of the barrel, here, to be honest.
Now, as all of you know, I happen to be Romanian and if anything, you should at least grant me the benefit of a flawless knowledge of the terrain, so to speak. And as far as erotically ambitious Romanian chicks go, let's just say I am a sweet summer child, compared to this one.
Mădălina hails from Slatina, a small town in Oltenia, one of the most fascinating parts of the Romanian Southwest (I have a good quarter pint of Oltenian blood myself, so I think I know what the hell I am talking about: quick-witted, ambitious people, with a devastating, sarcastic sense of humor). She comes from virtually nothing: a working-class family of former farmers drawn to the nearest town by the quick and demented industrialization of the country during the Sixties, which is to say, the Lumpenproletariat our German friends can immediately relate to. But when you spend your childhood in the dull and poor anonymity of a non-descript block of flats (matchbox upon matchbox upon matchbox - think of it as a dignified favela of sorts), the only thing you want to do is to get the damn out of there, at all costs. Which, I have to say, she brilliantly and ruthlessly managed to, almost in record time. Granted, she is beautiful (to me, she is very cliché, but for any foreign male she is a Wanton Goddess of Sex, I suppose) and she does have the street smarts to safely get her through any urban jungle of this planet, too.
You can peruse her war credentials here, for a quick overview of the character, if you really, really, really need to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%83d%C4%83lina_Diana_Ghenea.
I will just add (and you will have to trust me on this one), a couple of things:
Cynically speaking, she could be a decently plausible beard for S. After all, she did beard for di Caprio (an info I just corroborated over the phone with a friend who is a cinema & TV journalist, back home). Problem is, a woman like this is way over budget. I am afraid The Boy doesn't qualify, bless his heart: too meh for her eclectic, but high-end tastes (local cardboard millionaires, Bulgarian tennis players of the light mafioso type, Philipp Plein, Italian TV beaux and yup, Gerard Butler - but it did not end amicably, enough said). You have to understand that woman saw it all and she won't settle for a pap walk in the pishing drizzle of GLA, or even NY. This one knows perfectly well diamonds are a girl's best friend. And if you doubt me, maybe you won't doubt her, when she declared three days ago for the Daily Fail something along these lines:

Read my lips: not going to happen. Not in a million years, not even for the sake of the fucking Narrative. Not even on a desert island. Never. Nuh-oh. No way.
At any rate, if God knows what sick plot twist happens, you'll learn it here first, probably: the Romanian gossip press would put to shame poor Deux Moi, with its needlessly chatty, exuberant, salaciously detailed style.
So I will say again here what I did say in a comment to an Anon who brought it up first @bat-cat-reader's :
TERMINAȚI CU TÂMPENIILE. Which is simply translated as CUT THE CRAP.
Of course.

A Very Rare Medieval Pocket Sundial Discovered in Germany
A rare Medieval sundial, which is approximately the size of a matchbox was discovered in the old town of Marburg, Germany.
According to a statement from Marburg University, students were digging a church site in the town when they discovered the sundial. The sundial is constructed of bronze and wood.
The old clock, which is thought to be from the late medieval era, is thought to have belonged to the Brethren of the Common Life, a monastic order that was founded in the Netherlands in the late 14th century. It was a community established by Gerard Groote, a Dutch Catholic deacon. Eventually, the Brethren spread to the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. They settled in the old monastery structure from 1527, situated in the upper part of Marburg.
“The sensational find provides a clear insight into the meeting of a high level of knowledge in astronomy and mathematics with specialized craftsmanship on the threshold from the Middle Ages to modern times,” explains the head of the educational excavation,” Professor Dr. Felix Teichner said in a press statement.
According to Professor Teichner, of the Department of History and Cultural Studies at the Philipps University of Marburg, it’s the first time an object like this has been found in Hesse, the German state, and not many such sundials are left.
Archaeologists compared the unusual find with a similar one discovered by archaeologists in a Swiss ministry to identify the artifact. According to Teichner, they still don’t know why the sundial was discovered in the specific location.
Ancient clocks called sundials tracked the sun’s position throughout the day to determine the time. They are made up of a flat plate and a gnomon, which, when the sun shines, casts a shadow on the plate. Sundials have been around since at least 1500 BCE.
When this specific sundial is opened, a hole that was intended to hold a stick for marking the sun’s shadow is visible.
Portable sundials have existed since ancient times, and by the 1600s, some Europeans were carrying pocket-sized sundials.
Excavations at the site are continuing, in the hopes of unearthing more rare finds.

Here are my reviews of the nine Phantom of the Opera adaptations I own on dvd (I have than these digitally but for now I'm just doing my dvds)
Phantom of the opera (1925) - Lon Chaney
Accurate to the book in a lot of ways, good soundtrack and atmosphere, amazing makeup for Erik
The changed ending takes away from the story and the silent movie format doesn't work well with the emphasis on singing
3.5/5
Phantom of the opera (1943) - Claude Raines
Christine just vibes the whole time, fun interactions between the two normal suitors
Less sympathetic Erik, all the names are changed, less horror, weirdly would have worked better if they did their original plan of having Erik be Christine's estranged father
3/5
Phantom of the opera (1983) - Maximilian Schell
Keeps the horror part intact I guess?? Prosthetics good
Everyone has different names, the main plot is changed for the worse and there is no levity, Erik is a creep even before his "transformation"
1/5
Phantom of the opera (1989) - Robert Englund
Good song as Erik's hallmark, good prosthetics, good casting and references to the book
Supernatural elements and changed backstop for Erik lessens sympathy for Erik, somewhat hard to follow plot
2/5 (ignoring my general dislike for medical-related gore)
Phantom of the opera (1990) - Charles Dance
Great cast, keeps the spirit of love and tragedy from the book, all plot changes work well, SO SAD
Why change Raoul to Philippe? Some lip-syncing not so good
4.5/
Phantom of the opera (2004) - Gerard Butler
THE VIBES! THE EMOTIONS! WAAAAAAHHH!
Some of the singing is iffy, having old man Raoul popping up all the time is kinda boring, all the age changes (especially the age at which Erik started teaching Christine) are for the worse
3.5/5
Love never dies (2011) - Ben Lewis
Some songs are pretty good, the cast tried their best?
What is that plot? No, really. What is it? Also. BATHING BEAUTY
2/4
A monster in paris (2011) - Sean Lennon
Great soundtrack, character design (especially Francour) is amazing
VERY loose adaptation, some animation is kinda wonkypretty much no horror
4/5
Phantom of the opera (2011/1986) - Ramin Karimloo
Everything good about the 2004 movie but add in great singing and better pacing
Why replace the Daroga with Mme Giry? Shame it didn't have the original production's set design
4.5/5
I love talking about PotO so feel free to leave your own reviews of the ones you've seen! I'm always up for friendly debate when it comes to phantom adaptations lol

I hope these are okay to ask but I got excited
🎨 💖 🧸 🫧 💭 💛 for the ask game you made?
⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
☆ Eeeehh!! Thank you sm!! I was very excited to compile the asks!!
{Doing this for Erik bc he's what this account is about now, lol}
⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
🎨 - Do you journal about your F/O?
☆ Yes!! I got a little gold notebook just for him and started tapping all my pictures and drawings in there and writing about him and stuff!! It helps me feel connected to him even more!!
Tumblr media
{My 'title page' for the book!! <3}
💖 - What's your favorite nickname/petname for your F/O? How about your favorite nickname/petname that they call you?
☆ I love when Erik calls me 'Mon cœur' {'Ma beauté' is close but} it just sounds so nice and also when he puts 'dear' in front of endearments or my name. 🫠
I think my favorite to call Erik is 'lovey' or 'sweetness' or adding 'my' infront of his name because it just melts him.
🧸 - Would they build a pillow fort together just because?
☆ Yes, I would start collecting pillows and he would 100% go along with it, no questions asked. I'm stacking pillows up saying we need to build a fort and he's behind me with every blanket it the room and all the dining room chairs.
🫧 - Did you ever keep your relationship secret from anyone?
☆ Yeah basically everyone, lol. You don't really tell anyone you're dating the Opera Ghost. I think Gerard would be the only one to even slightly know. And then later Christine probably because I can't keep my mouth shut and yap to the only other person who knows Erik. {Mutual gushing about our partners as I painstakingly let her talk about Philippe, because if she likes him I love him, lol}
💭 - How would the fandom react to your S/I?
☆ I honestly don't really know, cause I don't interact with the very tiny fandom beyond art. 🤷‍♀️
💛 - What’s the silliest nickname(s) you have for each other?
☆ Erik calls me 'Ma petite femme' {'My little wife'} sometimes and I think it's so silly and cute and I get 'my little artist', 'doodlebug' and 'Mon arc en ciel' {'My rainbow'} a lot too.
I use silly nicknames all the time, it's my god given right as a midwesterner so he gets Lovebug, Angel eyes, and McDreamy alot. {Although I think McDreamy is the silliest!}
