Women in Germany are fighting back against gender id and creating women only spaces.
Aswith many feminist events nowadays, the 2022 Women’s Rights Conference in Berlin was held at a privately-booked location. I didn’t know beforehand who else was invited, except for the other members of the local collective. It was all extremely confidential. For obvious reasons, I can't give too many details, but in the end, one thing is clear: feminists in Germany are steadily building a brand new movement.
On a cloudy Friday afternoon in early December, I trudged along a stretch of damp sidewalk. Dusk was settling, and everything was cold. Suddenly, a taxi pulled up ahead. Bright red brake lights glowed in the evening mist. A pair of white-haired women left the cab with their bags and walked into a nearby driveway. It was then that I knew this was the place.
We said our hellos in the main hall where the air was warm and dry. Then a friend at the front desk greeted us in two languages; she’d volunteered to translate from German to English for the entire weekend. She gave us name tags, room keys, and instructions on when and where to meet later for dinner. Organizers busily shuffled supplies to different rooms and hung colorful posters on the wall in preparation of the next days’ workshops. Soon the hall was filled with surprised and joyous reunions. Not much later, the final women arrived, and we all enjoyed our first hot meal together.
That night, the organizing team officially welcomed us all to the conference. We were 60 women, aged 23 to 85, and mostly German-speaking. I was huddled around a translator with two Turkish feminists, one Swedish feminist, and the English feminist Julia Long. Women from Germany's Feminist Party (Die Feministische Partei) were present, along with a member of the German Green Party (Die Grünen), plus many founding members of the first Lesbian Action Center (Lesbisches Aktion Zentrum) in West Berlin. A few of the Flying Lesbianswere there, too!
Here were the women who had built women-only bars and bookshops in Germany in the time of the second wave. They’d translated whole libraries of feminist texts from English and French. Some of them even smuggled those texts and their own magazines into East Berlin when the wall still stood. Here, too, were the young women who survived medical transition, who defied modern misogyny and chose to come home to themselves.
"Here were the women who had built women-only bars and bookshops in Germany in the time of the second wave."
In their welcoming speeches, four organizers gave their thanks to the fifth – or rather, the first: Monne Kühn. Over months of meetings and late-night phone calls, it was Monne's driving force keeping the team focused and alert. “Look, I'm going to do this,” she'd said bluntly in June, “and if you want to help, you can.” One look around the room, and it was clear their hard work was worth the fuss. Monne then invited women in the audience to stand when she named their organizations, to rounds of applause.
Then the oldest woman was invited to speak. She was born before World War II. As a child, she survived the Nazi regime. Through the Cold War, she witnessed Germany’s occupation and division. She watched the wall go up in Berlin, and three decades later, she saw it come down. With a calm fury, she told the crowd that she never expected - in her long lifetime - to see the insidious misogyny we are seeing today. And she's seen some things. She rejected the dehumanization of women as mere “uterus bearers,” joking that “menstruator” doesn’t even apply to her anymore. Finally, she urged women to take action against Germany's planned self-ID law, which threatens the autonomy of all women and girls across the country.
The next day began with Julia Long illustrating the importance of language in this fight. She challenged us to recognize the tricks that wordplay pulls on our perceptions. Namely, calling a wristwatch a “trans-table” doesn’t mean you can then serve dinner on it. After her presentation, we formed groups to discuss the effects of language on our sex-based rights. We later reconvened and shared the observations and concepts developed by each group. This plenary was followed by a delicious lunch, and then speeches from international speakers.
Feminists from Sweden, Scotland, France, the UK, and Germany took the floor. They shared the latest news about self-ID from their respective countries, governments, and feminist movements. We then brought their ideas into new discussion groups focused on building German-specific strategies. What actions can we take in public? How can we affect legislation? Where should we exercise our free speech rights? One group encouraged monthly demonstrations and public discussions. Another group suggested taking action with joy, for this creates feminist magnetism.
After such a jam-packed Saturday, we embraced the evening with champagne and lively conversation. One of the organizers welcomed us into a dimly lit room for a performance of spoken word poetry. Then our very own DJane helped us find our groove with a late night disco. Before going to bed, I visited the film crew, who’d asked for volunteers to give their impressions of the gathering so far. I met Julia Long in the hallway, and we started chatting about incredible and inspirational women we’d met at different events over the years. We agreed that this German feminist conference, with all its action-oriented workshops and discussions between like-minded women, was simply exhilarating to witness.
Sunday began with lots and lots of coffee. With my second cup, I began to wonder: just how many women did the organizers and attendees inspire over the years? With their lifetimes of feminist work, how many women’s lives did they touch? How many more women will benefit because of this very conference?
After breakfast, the final groups presented their strategic ideas and announced that several women had already taken responsibility for initiating specific projects and actions. Then everyone in attendance agreed to unanimously sign a resolution in support of the FrauenAktionsBündnis Appel, a call to action by over 25 women’s groups across the country to oppose the erasure of sex in policy and legislation.
I hope this record of a lovely feminist weekend inspires other women elsewhere to join together. Let each of our gatherings serve as markers on the road to liberation. When we look back, we can see just how long and far we’ve traveled. But sometimes along this road, we happen to be traveling in excellent company. As we march on, let this testament stand: our collective power, when channeled together, can ignite great flames of resistance.

Germany’s non-Roman Catholic chancellor meets the pope
COGwriter
Germany’s leader met with Vatican City’s leader today:
March 2, 2024
Pope Francis has received German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the Vatican.
Although the two had already met at Pope Benedict XVI’s funeral at the beginning of 2023, this was their first private audience. They had also spoken on the phone – after the start of the war in Ukraine two years ago, for example.
After his meeting with the Pope, Chancellor Scholz met with Vatican Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
“I am very grateful for the extensive conversation with the Pope,” the Social Democratic politician said after he had finished his visit.
“We also naturally discussed the major challenges and problems of our times and talked about topics that concern us all,” Chancellor Scholz continued. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2024-03/olaf-scholz-chancellor-germany-pope-francis-migration-war.html
Now, Vatican City is very small (0.19 square miles/0.49 square kms), has little in terms of population (an estimated 764 live there), and is not even in the European Union, yet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Pope Francis.
Furthermore, Olaf Scholz is “non-denominational,” hence not even a member of Francis’ church.
Yet, he and many leaders have figuratively “kissed the ring” of the Vatican, acknowledging its authority.
Now notice some items related to the type of government Olaf Scholtz and his supporters have wanted for Europe when he was coming into power:
The new German alliance wants to lead the creation of the United States of Europe
With Annalena Bierbock as Germany’s foreign minister, the country can be expected to move towards a more federal structure of the European Union. After all, Baerbock, the leader of Die Grünen, is a convinced Europhile and would likely pursue a foreign policy that could be described as a blueprint for the United States of Europe.
The government of future German chancellor Olaf Schulz has already called for a reformulation of the EU’s treaties to create a federal European state. 11/27/21 https://www.aviationanalysis.net/the-new-german-alliance-wants-to-lead-the-creation-of-the-united-states-of-europe/
Germany to push for ‘United States of Europe’ in overhaul of foreign policy
Annalena Baerbock, the new foreign minister and leader of the Greens, is a noted Europhile and will pursue a more federalist policy https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2021/11/26/germany-back-united-states-europe-green-leader-named-foreign/
‘United States of Europe’ Scholz pushes for EU overhaul – ‘We don’t have Brexit shock’
THE new German government is pressing for further integration with the European Union in a move set to pave the way for a so-called “United States of Europe”.
Social Democrat (SPD) leader and incoming Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed an historic three-way coalition this week with the Greens and Free Democrats. SPD’s Europe negotiator in the coalition talks, Udo Bullmann, said the government will be seeking a closer relationship with Europe and suggested this would be easier because Brexit has been finalised.
He told German magazine Der Spiegel: “Germany needs to send a signal in which direction the German government would like the European Union to develop.
“We are not despondent, we don’t look back and we don’t have the Brexit shock in our bones.
We want to take courageous steps towards integration because we know that time is short and people are waiting for them.” 11/27/21 https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1527755/EU-news-united-states-of-europe-olaf-scholz-Germany-chancellor
Notice that the incoming German Chancellor ‘s representative stated that his government realizes “that time is short.” And it is.
7 December 2017
In a speech at the SPD’s party conference in Berlin that called for the creation of a “United States of Europe” by the year 2023, as well as a more robust social security net and a phasing out of coal power, Martin Schulz made the case for entering open-ended talks with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). …
Schulz told delegates that he wanted EU member states to sign off on a “constitutional treaty” that committed the bloc to take steps towards a federal Europe https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/dec/07/martin-schulz-united-states-of-europe-germany-sdp
While it did not happen in 2023, that is still the goal of many in Europe.
Back in 2016, the then French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, called for a militaristic United States of Europe (see ‘French Prime Minister Argues For United States Of Europe, With Its Own Military’).
Notice also the following headline from 2017:
BIGGER EUROPE! Juncker uses Brexit to push forward plan for ‘united states of Europe’
Consider also that in August 2011, Ursula von der Leyen (who is now EU Commission President) said: “My aim is a united states of Europe, run along the lines of the federal states of Switzerland, Germany or the USA.” (Spiegel interview)
In the December 1948 issue of The Plain Truth Herbert W. Armstrong predicted a coming “United States of Europe” when he wrote:
It was the SERMON that shot forth that spark, impregnating the minds of world leaders in attendance. This amazing sermon was delivered by a foremost radio speaker of the Catholic Church, Bishop Duane G. Hunt of Salt Lake City … Without the guidance, supervision, authority of the Catholic Church, he told these men, they were laboring in vain …
This was the Roman Catholic bid to resurrect the so-called “HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE” ! And PROPHECY says they will succeed! … At the psychological time, the pope will step in … Thru this political movement, he will UNIFY … nations in Europe. It will be a “The UNITED STATES OF EUROPE,” but that probably will never become its official name. (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth, December 1948, pp. 2,5).
Yes, Roman Catholic leaders have long wanted some type of a United States of Europe. Notice that he believed it would take a combination of Europeans and the Church of Rome to make that happen.
Why?
Because of scriptures in the 17th chapter of the Book of Revelation.
Related to some of that, Herbert W. Armstrong stated:
(Revelation 17:1-3). “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials,” vials that contain the seven last plagues, incidentally, that have been described just before this, “and talked with me, and said unto me, Come hither and I will show thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters.”
Now a woman is symbolic of a church, and he’s speaking of a great church that sits on many waters. Now in verse 15 (Revelation 17:15): “And he saith unto me, The waters which thou saw, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and different languages.” In other words, it was a church ruling over different nations speaking different languages.
(v.2) “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication,” because Christ is the king, and the church is the affianced bride of Christ, and if we’re in the church, we’re supposed to be true to Christ and not the kings of this world. “…And the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away into the wilderness, and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast…” That is a wild animal.
And this beast represented a government, just like I showed you and mentioned to you from the 7th chapter of Daniel, and the 13th chapter of Revelation. “…Full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.” Now this was a very great church, for example, and ruling over many of them. Now he gives a name, an identity: (v.5) “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT…” (Revelation 17:5) In other words, the Babylonian mystery religion, which was the same religion that old King Nebuchadnezzar had. The Babylonian mystery religion, coming down to our time, “THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” (Armstrong HW. Visions of the End Time. World Tomorrow telecast, November 6, 1978)
Leaders like the non-Roman Catholic Scholtz visiting and consulting with pontiffs like Francis continues to help set the stage for the rise of the end time, Babylonian church-state alliance that will occur in Europe.
The Bible itself teaches that Europe will reorganize:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
What Martin Schulz, Manuel Valls, Olaf Scholtz and other have called for will one day lead to the above prophesied reorganizations–and we are likely to see other reorganizations prior to that.
As far as Germany and a ‘United States of Europe’ goes, the old Worldwide Church of God warned about this coming for decades last century:
“O Assyrian, the rod of MINE anger, and the staff in their hand is MINE indignation, I WILL SEND HIM against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath (rebellious Israel) will I give him a charge (command), to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets” (Isa. 10:5,6). Yes, God is going to take the nation of Germany as the head of a United Europe into his hand as a club to punish the nations of Israel for their rebellion against Him! Howbeit he meanth not so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few” (vs. 7). Germany, those living in Germany, even the German government, may not yet know that they are going to join in a treaty with the Russians to destroy the United States and bring it to its knees-it is not in his “heart” to think so, but on the other hand it IS in his “heart” to destroy-the very characteristic of the Assyrian, the modern German, is a harsh, cruel, iron, dedication to militarism and destruction! This is just the kind of nation God needs to use as a rod in His hand to punish His people!
Does this then mean that the Germans at the head of a United Europe do have a spiritual mission to perform? Does this mean that they are right in claiming to be the “Defenders of the West” and the champions of Christianity!? No!
God’s Destiny for Germany
Despite the fact that it is God who will use Germany to destroy America, Germany must be destroyed as well for HER rebellion against God—“I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. For he saith, by the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent!” (Is. 10:12,13)
The leaders of a United Europe, when they succeed against the United States, will begin to think THEIR prudent planning, THEIR wise ideas and THEIR powerful might have made them successful! They will not realize that they have only been used as a base tool of destruction in the hand of the Almighty God! “Shall the axe boast itself against him that hews therewith? Or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood” (Isa. 10:15). God explains here that despite the fact that He has used Assyria to punish Israel, Assyria is also rebellious against His law and government, His way, and since it will magnify itself against the very God of creation, as Dan. 11: 36 and 37 explain, GOD WILL HAVE TO PUNISH IT FOR THIS.
So GOD says, “The Lord of hosts has sworn. saying, Surely as I have thought, so SHALL IT COME TO PASS: and as I have purposed, so SHALL IT STAND; That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains TREAD HIM UNDER FOOT: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their (the Israelites) shoulders” (Isa.14: 24,25). Just shortly before Jesus Christ Himself intervenes in this world’s affairs. He will take another nation as a punishing club in His hands and punish the proud Assyrians, the modern Germans at the head of the United States of Europe. “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall nor regard silver; and as for gold they shall not delight in it … Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. And Babylon (the modern resurrected and revived Roman Empire, dominated by a fascist Germany), the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah!” (Is. 13: 17-19.) …
Since God himself has pronounced a curse on modern Israel, and is going to hand us over to the Assyrians, it is evident that we CANNOT TRUST in the American way of life either!
Nothing is left outside these three great systems and powers on earth, under man, except Anarchy!
MAN’S ONLY HOPE LIES IN TURNING TO HIS CREATOR GOD! …
YOUR only hope as an individual is to turn to God-to the Living Creator who is working out events here below on this earth-who is very concerned about YOU, who promises you safety from these horrible times to come! Heed the warning given by Jeremiah! The only ‘Way to escape these dire prophecies of God is by REPENTANCE- nationally or individually! (Hill DJ, God’s Destiny for Germany. Plain Truth, March 1962, pp. 28-29)
A “United States of Europe” possessing one single currency — a currency so strong that it will replace the U.S. dollar as the kingpin currency of world trade.  A United Europe developing great military strength to protect its unprecedented standard of living and its Number One position in the world. (Hogberg G. Rising World Colossus: Ambassador College, 1971)
Much of Europe now does have a single currency. We also have the European Union.
A German-dominated European military is also being forged–and officially was in late 2017 with something called PESCO (watch also PESCO and a Great European Army).
The Bible shows that a German-dominated power will destroy (Isaiah 10:5-12).
The Bible also tells of the King of Assyria being involved in doing so (Isaiah 10:12-14).
This power will affect the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom:
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. (Daniel 11:39-40)
Notice that two kings are discussed. One is the final King of the North. He is the one who will have the power to succeed against the ‘strongest fortresses.’ (The second is the final King of the South, who will also be defeated by the King of the North after the USA is out of the way.)
In the 21st century, the strongest fortresses belong to the USA, and to a lesser degree, its Anglo-Saxon-Celtic descended allies.
The King of Assyria and the King of the North are references to the same power. A power that will destroy the USA and cause its Anglo-Saxon descended allies to also be taken over (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?).
The Vatican wants more political involvement in Europe and many European leaders want to get the Vatican involved.
As far as Germany leaders like Olaf Scholz and the coming ‘United States of Europe’ goes, we have the following video our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

German push for a ‘United States of Europe’
Is the incoming coalition German government pushing for something called a ‘United States of Europe’? Is this consistent with recent comments from German leaders such as incoming chancellor Olaf Scholz, incoming foreign minister Annalena Bierbock, European Union President Ursula von der Leyen, SDP spokesman Udo Bullmann, politician Martin Schultz, and others? What about warnings dating back to 1948 from the old Radio Church of God? Is Europe prophesied to reorganize? Could the Lisbon Treaty be changed or replaced? Will there be a coming European power that is militaristic? How might this affect the USA and its British-descended allies? What is the only hope for our lives? Dr. Thiel provides quotes and other information on these matters.

Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations? Some claim that these passages refer to a gathering of 10 currently existing nations together, while one group teaches that this is referring to 11 nations getting together. PESCO and a Great European Army In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? The German pro–nuclear citizens’ organization, Nuklearia, is appealing against the refusal of the Federal Environment Ministry to permit it to register as an environmental organization ― which would give it a privileged voice in discussions on energy policy.
The objections of the “Umweltbundesamt” are far–fetched, especially after Nuklearia amended its charter in response to a previous denial. The truth, often discussed but never before officially stated, appears to be that the UBA is a creature of the Green Party, and regards anything that does not align with the agenda of that party as alien to its mission. Designation as an environmental organization, with the advantages it brings, is meant as patronage for groups which in turn support the Greens.
The one, unwavering, central and fundamental position of Die Grünen is, of course, opposition to atomic energy in all its forms and manifestations.

Fake News Alert
Is Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock really a traitor, doesn't care about Germans and works for Ukraine?
What happened?
Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock attended the 26th annual Forum 2000 Conference in Prague. She also was part of a podium discussion where she talked about Ukraine, Germany and the German support.
Later, Russian Propaganda Accounts and Kremlins published a ~54s long clip (it also exists a shorter (~30s) clip), claiming that Baerbock is a traitor, doesn't care about Germans. They also claim that Baerbock works for the Ukrainians and admits it in this clip.
Tumblr media
(screenshot of the published clip and what one of the Russian accounts posted, as example)
So, is it true?
No.
The published clip was only a part of Baerbock's answer, so it was edited. It was also highly taken out of context - cutting away her explanations.
The whole answer can be found here (German subtitles, she speaks English in the clip):
Find the whole event here:
youtube
Why is Annalena Baerbock a target for Russian Propaganda?
Since the outbreak of war, she stands with Ukraine, supports them in several speeches, condems Russia and Russian war crimes She also received lots of praise for a very clear, honest and frank communication as well as several remarkable speeches. Baerbock is also advocating for support and weapons. An especially remarkable positions, since her party (Die Grünen / The Greens) are known for their "no weapons" stance and not involving Germany in other conflicts. Baerbock was also one of the first German politicans who advocated for Ukraine to receive EU candidate status.
She was also on the first high-ranking German officials who visited President Zelenskyy in Kyiv before Chancellor Scholz' visit.
In the past, she also stood up against Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, warned about Nordstream 2 and the German depency on Russian energy / coal / oil / gas, already supported Ukraine and condemned Russia and their actions since 2014.
Her party also has a history of supporting Ukraine. They condemned the annexation in 2014, warned about energy depency, critized Nordstream 2, spoke out against Putin several times and advocated in the past to support and help Ukraine more.
Currently, she's also one of the most loved and popular politicans in Germany. Many Germans support her actions. She was one of the Chancellor candidates during the last election, but lost since her party didn't get the majority in votes. After Chancellor Scholz was appointed to office, he received much critism, especially during the war in Ukraine and his stance and actions. Because of that, Baerbock gained support and love from Germans.

Absolutely, thank you for your question!
I hope I can help, but I must warn you: As a member of the SPD, my answer will be biased. Also, prepare for a long post.
If you want, check out this post for opinions concerning this election.
I'll go through the six parties currently in the BT and then add a snippet about small parties, yeah?
CDU/CSU (="Union"): Not recommended.
Their views on societal norms are outdated and bleed into their policies re: immigration, parental leave, etc.
Some of them lean far right.
They think companies should pay fewer taxes so to fund innovation. That will not be enough for the changes necessary for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
They think regulating rent prices is unconstitutional. (It's an opinion based on a formality.)
Concerning this election, they have shown that they have very few ideas on how this country should be run - they're Merkel's party, so they think they have the hereditary right to the German chancellorship.
SPD: Recommended.
They demand higher minimum wage (12€) and a right to work from home where it's possible.
The Kurzarbeitergeld (payment during "empty employment" esp. during the pandemic) was their idea.
They want to raise taxes for the rich, and also for global player companies who basically don't pay any despite making a shit-ton of profit. Looking at you, Google & Amazon.
They support a fast transition to renewable energy (not fast enough, true) as well as expansion of public transport etc. to reduce carbon emissions.
The last legislative period (and also the GroKo before that) was basically them doing solid work, and the Union blocking and watering down everything.
They have, to this day, always stood against fascism.
BÜNDNIS 90/Die Grünen: Recommended.
To make it short, they have many things in common with the SPD.
The two red-green coalitions (1998-2005) made many necessary and progressive changes, for example with regard to social systems (Hartz IV, which doesn't work well today anymore) and energy policy (Atomausstieg).
Their climate change policies go further than those of the other parties, so they will be an important addition to any government in that regard.
They, too, think that the state should regulate things to increase social equality - rent prices, for example -, to reduce carbon emissions, and much more.
Their views on social issues like gender, sexuality, religion, race, disability, etc. are very progressive.
FDP: Not recommended.
They agree with the CDU on many points, with the exception of social issues.
Their expertise lies in digitalisation and economics.
(Somehow, their tax concept is still one of those which will leave the biggest gap in the federal budget.)
They lean towards privatisation.
Their understanding is that the market mostly regulates itself.
In a progressive coalition, they might do some solid work. In a conservative coalition, the policy-making might be smoother but the results would be desastrous for society and the planet.
DIE LINKE: Recommended.
The party strongly opposes international military cooperation, or any form of military action in general.
(This might be the most difficult bit, because that would include military action against terrorist groups in other countries, such as the so-called "IS" or the T aliban.)
Their social policies are very progressive and solidaric.
They want to tax the rich, expropriate big housing companies, introduce a 30-hour week, and much more.
They have never been part of a federal government but would be fairly compatible with SPD and Grüne.
AfD: Absolutely not recommended.
They're nazis, nazi apologists, and nazi supporters.
The rest is bullshit too, but we can stop here.
Smaller parties (Volt, Piraten, etc.): Partly recommended.
You can vote for them in communal elections. That's fine. They might have a chance of ending up in the town council.
But in federal or state elections, they take votes away from the big parties, shifting percentages. That's fucking frustrating.
(A few Klimaliste voters less, and we'd have a green-red gov't in Baden-Württemberg now.)
There you go. I hope this was helpful!
Don't hesitate to ask if there's something you want me to explain, or to correct me if you find a mistake.

So, for anyone wondering what is happening with Germany, here's a quick summary.
Yesterday we had to elect a new chancellor since Angela Merkel has been in that position for 16 years.
Now, the German parliament might be different than some other countries. We basically have 6 big parties there but from those 2 or three always form a Koalition. Koalitionen are formed so that a chancellor can be elected since we only vote for a party who chooses someone of them as that person. Since a party never has a big enough majority to elect them, multiple parties go together to make that majority.
However, there were basically only three parties who were likely to form a Koalition like this. One party was the CDU, a Christian conservative party that has basically been in a Koalition for as long as I can remember. They were also the party Angela Merkel is from. To replace her they choose Armin Lachet. Now, he is one of the worst choices they could have done because he a.) failed to fold his ballot correctly so that everyone could see who he has voted for which technically is seen as voting fraud since he might influence others with his choice but we just looked over that. B.) He literally can't form a sentence that makes sense or not contradict himself. There have been multiple talks or interviews where he downright was rude and interrupted others and denied statements that he had mad prior to this year.
Another party was the SPD, a social democratic union who wanted to elect Olaf Scholz. Now, he was involved in a financial scandal but other than that, he also just seemed a bit disrespectful or lacking in manners.
The third one was the Green Party with Annalena Baerbock. This party is mainly focused on climate change, making a green future and making it digital. She has been the best choice out of these three since she had clear ambition and was always able to answer questions.
Now, we have three other main parties who are in our parliament.
We have the AfD which has been questioned many times for being extremely right but they somehow always passed. They are homophobic, racist, anti maskers who basically were formed a few years ago and got popular because a lot of people where unhappy with Merkel during the immigrant crisis and voted this party out of protest.
We also have the FDP which claims to be liberal, yet is the textbook example of rich capitalist who just don't really do anything? Sure, they have never really been in power but they also just make empty promises.
And lastly we have Die Linke which is basically the party that is always seen as extremely left because they talk about topics like Gender etc. Many people don't vote for them as they see them as "too progressive."
Now, we have many other smaller parties but sadly none of them have really been able to reach 5% so they don't get a seat in our parliament. However there's great options here and much more fleshed out ones then the people 6 ones but since the main 6 are so established, especially with elder people, we won't see them change anytime soon.
So, yesterday's results showed that the SPD had the most votes overall, very closely followed by the CDU.
Now, both parties wouldn't have enough votes for a majority so they would need to get 1 or two other parties for a Koalition.
The SPD has made it quiet clear that their ideals are too different from the CDU to form one with them, so that leaves them out of the equation.
The AfD is disliked by every party and all have refused to cooperate with them which also means they aren't an option.
Die Linke sadly didn't reach the 5% mark. However they still got in since you need 3 Direktmandate or 5%. For anyone wondering what a Direktmandat is, this basically means that a Candidate of that party won in a certain region (they got the most votes and would be elected as a representative of that region.) Since they scored so low and barely got in, they also aren't an option which you guessed it only leaves the FDP and the Green party.
Now, before I continue I want to explain a bit more and what I touched upon in the last paragraph. When we have a federal election, you get two votes. The first is directly for a representative of a party from your region and doesn't influence the general vote as much. However this vote can secure certain people of parties a place in the parliament. The second vote is the important one since with that you vote for a party which will then elect the chancellor. So, there will be different vote results because there's two votes.
Going back to the original point, we know now that only 4 parties could form a Koalition. And it needs three of those to form a majority.
The options for that Koalition would be the SPD, the Green Party and the FDP (which is also known as Ampel Koalition which basically means traffic light Koalition since the SPD is red, the Green Party green and the FDP yellow.) This would not be ideal however it would be what the majority of votes represent and would want (this is more left than the last Koalition and would mean that the people who voted based on climate change would hopefully be listened to.) When forming a Koalition it is important to note that certain goals of the parties will be compromised since they all tend to aim for different things which means you should form a Koalition with the parties that least make you compromise your goals. This coalition would mean that Olaf Scholz becomes chancellor which would not be ideal but the Green and SPD would mean that climate politics might actually become serious and they also have more similarities. We would still have the FDP which sucks but at least two other better/good parties.
The second option would be the CDU, the Green Party and the FDP, also known as Jamaica Koalition because the CDU is black. Now, this is what a lot of us don't want because a.) We dislike the CDU and know they won't do shit and b.) We know the FDP also won't do shit. Furthermore this would mean that Armin Lachet becomes chancellor which is bad. Additionally, the Green Party would completely lose credibility since they only gained so many votes because of their climate ideals which would all not be meet should this happen (the CDU doesn't care and the FDP is capitalist, so they wouldn't do some of the major changes the Green Party wants to do.)
For now, we don't know who will be chancellor or which of these options will happen since the FDP and the Green Party want to talk with each other first and then approach the SPD/CDU. Since they are smaller but still know that there decision is the decided, they want to first look which party most likely fits them. However, Christian Lindner, who is the head of the FDP had already said that they think the SPD is too far left which is why a lot of us are worried. (I would also like to point out that that statement is complete bullshit but you probably already got that from my tone. The SPD is left but in reality probably more centre than anything else. The only actual left parties of the big 6 are Die Linke and Die Grünen in my eyes and even the last one is more leaning for me. Might also be because I am very heavily left but yeah.)
We are currently just waiting for the decision and disaster to happen.

The results of Germany’s Bundestag elections are mostly in – but they do not show a clear winner.
The center-left SPD led by Olaf Scholz won the largest number of seats. But they are far from a clear majority. Even a coalition with the Greens (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), a party which served with the SPD in the 1998-2005 ruling coalition, would not add up to a parliamentary majority.
The center-right CDU/CSU led by Armin Laschet came in second behind the SPD. With the retiring Angela Merkel no longer leading that bloc, their vote percentage tumbled to its lowest point since the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its path to power is more uncertain than that of the SPD.
The kingmakers are the next two parties: the Greens and the FDP. The Greens are pro-environment and generally progressive. The FDP is pro-free market but liberal on social issues.
Numerically it will be impossible for either the SPD or the CDU/CSU to form a government without BOTH the Greens and the FDP. Much of the upcoming negotiations will be concerned with getting the Greens and FDP in agreement.
During the campaign the CDU/CSU had been warning voters about the danger of a coalition between the SPD, the Greens, and the Left (Die Linke). The latter is a peculiar grouping of former communists from the old East Germany, aging counterculture radicals, and leftist hipsters. The CDU/CSU’s “red scare” fell flat when it became apparent that support for Left nosedived in the election leaving them with too few seats to help the SPD reach a majority.
The far-right AfD (Alternative für Deutschland) saw a moderate dip in its electoral support. But they would not be a factor in any case because none of the other parties wants to have anything to do with them.
Here are the estimated number of seats for parties in the just elected Bundestag.
Tumblr media
It looks like there will be a total of 735 seats with 368 seats needed for a majority.
Oh, what’s with the SSW with just one seat? Apparently that is a representative of the Danish-German minority from the Südschleswigsche Wählerverband (South Schleswig Voters Association). The SSW’s views are pro-environment and pro-social welfare.

So, let's look at the parties that can be voted for in the upcoming German election... Only parties that already are in parliament, mind you.
There's AfD. Right-wing... Increasingly nazis. Say we shall just make do with climate change and learn to live with it. Hate gay people. Trans people even more. I don't hate myself enough for that shit.
There's CDU. Party of Merkel, who is resigning after the election. Have been most powerful party in Germany for 16 years now. Corrupt. Clowns. Their main candidate is three corrupt clowns in a trench coat. They have literally no plans. They just want to be in power. No thanks...
There's FDP. (Neo-) liberal party. Want to have innovation against climate change. Don't have a Plan B tho in case no one comes up with something in time. Did fight for Lgbtq-rights as they have been in the opposition in parliament, but they have a record of forgetting minorities as long as they don't own hotels when being part of the government in the past. I'll pass.
There's SPD. Smaller party in the government. Are a bit like British Labour Party. Have been in the government for 19 out of the past 23 years. Their main candidate has the charisma of a... Tyre. Claims that he's closest to Merkel in his style. While they claim to fight for queer rights and against climate change, they have a record of not accomplishing anything that CDU isn't happy with. They also claimed they didn't want to be in a government with CDU again before the past election, and here we are. Let's just say, I don't trust them at all.
There's Die Grünen (Green party). Are rather strong in polls, at least stronger than they usually are before elections. They did fight for trans rights as part of the opposition in parliament. They have plans on *how* to reduce emissions and do take poor people into account there as well. Their main candidate was attacked for rather minor issues by the press for weeks - weirdly, her opponents made similar mistakes and were bothered for that for a day or two... So far, best option.
And there's Die Linke (Left Party). Are even more ambitious on reducing emissions. They want rich people to pay for that. They want to support poor people the most. Sounds lovely? I'd think so too, if their most popular member hadn't published a book, saying they shouldn't focus on marginalized groups and minorities but focus on the working class only... And the leaders of the party hugged her for that. They would have been a good choice, but that shit is making it impossible to me to vote for them, especially considering that candidate is the first in the federal state I'm living in to get a seat in parliament if they reach the required number of votes here.
So, yeahhhhh... Based on two or three issues that are most relevant to me, there's only one party I would vote for, and I'm not happy with that.
This is my opinion and no one should feel forced to have the same thoughts or to vote as implied here. It's not a recommendation, but a WWLDITPPSTDGPALOC (What would Laura do in this poor political system that doesn't give people a lot of choice?)

Little positive thing about the German federal elections, while we wait for which parties will form our new government:
Congratulations to Tessa Ganserer and to Nyke Slawik (both from Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), who are the first two trans women to be elected to the German Bundestag.
(On the other hand we will have to wait for months if we get the left-leaning pro-climate coalition that a majority of Germans want and that they voted for. The SPD won the most votes, but technically we are at a patt where SPD and Green party have the most votes, but need a third party for a coalition. So the conservative CDU (even though they lost a third of their votes) and pro-economic FDP could swipe in as they could also form a government with a third party.)

fyi to those who don’t speak german, two german parties (libertarians and green party), are trying to silently implement self id by changing the existing “transsexual law.” thankfully there’s some resistance within the green party but no idea how impactful that is. anyway idk how likely it is that their proposed changes will be implemented after being discussed by the bundestag

marc henrichmann, cdu/csu
beatrix von storche, afd
dr. karl-heinz brunner, spd
dr. jens brandenburg, fdp
doris achelwilm, linke
paul lehrieder, cdu/csu
susanne rüthrich, spd
bettina margarethe wiesmann, cdu/csu
//
hello my friends! so here’s a quick summary of the debate and advising about the potential lifting or reform of the TSG (german trans law) as well as the potential passing of the selbstbestimmungsgesetz (self-determination law) of the grünen, germany’s green party. in addition, the proposals of the fdp and the linke were discussed as well. you can find information here and here.
there were nine representatives who spoke:
sven lehmann, grünen (who drafted the self-determination law with his party)
marc henrichmann, cdu/csu
beatrix von storche, afd
dr. karl-heinz brunner, spd
dr. jens brandenburg, fdp
doris achelwilm, linke
paul lehrieder, cdu/csu
susanne rüthrich, spd
bettina margarethe wiesmann, cdu/csu
the entire thing was around forty minutes. the representatives spoke about the topics at hand and most of them agreed that cosmetic operations done on intersex children should be banned. in addition, most of them (except from von storche) agreed that the TSG needs to be reformed in some way (and that this would be said by the federal constitutional court at some point as well).
there were a couple of disagreements regarding the self-determination law itself. the party members of the grünen, the linke, and the fdp were mostly in favour of the draft. the party members of the spd had different opinions but basically agreed that it could be passed with small changes and consultation. the party members of the cdu/csu fraction also had different opinions but, as mentioned, gave in that the TSG should be reformed. the speaker from the afd… one can imagine her thoughts on this matter (a couple of highlights were her comparison between what she called the “gender movement” and the flat earth society and the words “gender gagaland”... yeah i had to listen to that with my own two ears).
a small note: this is just the first consultation that is concretely about the TSG and the self-determination law (SelbstBestG)! there’s going to be a lot more consultations and discussions before an draft is approved and voted on. as far as i know, there are still committee consultations and two more discussions like these.
so now is the time! write to your representatives! you can find them super easily on the bundestag’s / federal government’s website. keep checking the alleGutenDingejetzt website where everything’s explained in more detail. read the drafts and proposals of the grünen and the fdp. start campaigning – there’s hope!

I hate how much tactics go into voting, like obviously in the US with a two party system you often have to vote for the lesser of two evils, so you can’t vote for any of those tiny third parties bc that’s essentially throwing your vote away and that sucks
But a more party system doesn’t mean you can always just freely vote whoever you want, like I’m still contemplating the actual chances of the different parties I like to actually get to power.
Example: Next year are general elections in germany. And there are three parties I might be convinced to vote for, who have wildly different chances of getting to power:
Die Grünen (the greens) are projected to gain a lot and become the second strongest party. They are pretty left, but often critizised for not sticking to their ideals and allowing, for example, a highway to be built through an old forest, or for some of their leaders driving high emission cars, which is directly in opposition with their name and main topic - y’know. Being green.
They’re the sensible choice to vote for, bc if everyone who is somewhat left voted for them, they might be able to get more votes than the CDU and maybe we’d get an all left coalition. Or even if they’re just second strongest, the more votes they get, the more strength they’ll have in a coalition with the CDU (CDU is pretty centrist, generally shitty, losing votes every election but like all old people vote for them so they still always end up strongest).
Die PARTEI (literally the Party) is a satire party, that in recent years has become more and more serious, while regular parties seemed to become more and more ridiculous. They have two people in the european parliament (there’s no 5% hurdle there) and they’re doing a lot of good work, calling politicians out on their bullshit and more importantly reporting on what’s happening in a beautiful and very transparent - for example reporting on how the different german politicians voted on key issues. Their policies - the ones that aren’t satire - are really good and very left and socialist. They’re also in a number of small town parliaments and often run the show in student parliaments in universities, since they are hugely popular with young people.
Voting for them would likely be a throwing my vote away move, since they’re unlikely to get past the 5% hurdle and actually make it into the german parliament, but it’s still tempting since if they did make it in? Theyd be able to fuck shit up so beautifully, which is exactly what those dumbass politicians in the government need.
Then there’s Die Linke (literally the Left, yes I know, so imaginative). They’re the furthest left of the established parties (supporting such sexy concepts as universal basic income), usually make it into the parliament no problem, but also usually just get between 5 and 10 percent. They’re unlikely to get into the government, unless in a coalition with the other two established leftist parties Grüne and SPD (i’m not voting SPD they’ve never once stood up for any of the things they supposedly believe in, they’re currently ruling with the CDU and doing pretty much as they’re told by them all the time. Also they’re projected to lose big so there’s no point).
Voting for Die Linke would essentially be hoping for a situation in which the combined left gets a majority (not super likely no matter how much I’d hope so) and then give them more power within that coalition by giving them my vote.
So yeah if I was just going by “which party do I vibe with the most?” it would be an easy choice to vote Die PARTEI. As it is, I’ll probably vote green, just bc they’re the most likely to actually get into the government, even though I vibe with them the least out of these three.
(fyi, the way german politics work is, any party that gets more than 5% of total votes makes it into the parliament and then usually several parties that have more than half the seats between them will form a coalition. A minority coalition is also possible, but we haven’t had one of those in a while. Also usually it’s accepted that whichever party gets the most votes will be part of the government, so unless the CDU somehow doesn’t get the most votes a majorly left government is unlikely)
so yeah it’s like.... logic or heart y’know? i hate it. just let me rank my choices or smth, come on.

Germany's Economy Minister Robert Habeck sends congratulations on Ukraine's Independence Day
Habeck posted a video in English, with German subtitles.
In the beginning, he calls Ukrainians "brave", highlighting Ukraine's Independence Day history and the importance this day has due to the "brutal and illegal" war of aggression by Russia. He also emphasized that there is no justification for this war and caused immense human suffering. He also pays respect to Ukraine's strong-willed fight against Russia. He says, everyday Germans are impressed by Ukraine's courage, determination and perseverance "in defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of your country". Habeck continues that Ukraine is fighting for European values and a peaceful and democratic future with freedom and prosperity. "This is why Germany and its partners around the world will continue to stand by your side. And we will continue to offer Ukraine financial, humanitarian, militarian and diplomatic support for as long as it is needed." Habeck ends his videos with wishes for everyone in Ukraine, saying he hopes that next years Independence Day will happen under different circumstances, peaceful "in a sovereign and free Ukraine".
Previously, Chancellor Scholz and Foreign Minister Baerbock had also published videos.
German Chancellor Scholz' government, of which he's part of, has been under constant critism since the start of the war. Scholz and main parts of his governments got critized for how they're dealing with the war, mainly because of an Pro-Russian approach, appeasing Putin, lacking support in the past and currently and not delivering or delaying weapon deliveries.
Lately, Habeck received critism for how he's handling the German energy crisis. He "inherited" an economy, that's dependent on Russian energy, gas, coal and oil. Despite this, Habeck was one of the first German politicans who advocated for a stop and was praised, in the beginning of the war, for dealing with the depency and finding new solutions for Germany. Within weeks and months, he managed to largely reduce the import of Russian oil, gas and coal. He lately received critism for ruling out the possibility to using Germany's nuclear reactors and to extand their duration. Habeck made it clear that Germany will completely stop buying Russian gas, oil and coal. His actions to find new solutions for Germany received mixed reviews, since he also changed his stance on several topics. So far, he and his party (Die Grünen / The Greens) advocated for safe and economical-friendly energy, like solar and wind energy. To deal with the energy depency, Habeck now started to find other solutions, like LNG, since the previous gouvernment under Angela Merkel was the issue for the depency. The last gouvernment not only missed the switch to renewable energies, but held it up and did not implement it. Habeck justified his changed stance with having to act due to the Russian War and in order to help Ukraine and no longer support Russia. During the six months of war, he was highly praised by many Germans for his open, honest and clear communication, admitting mistakes, explaining complicated facts and speaking openly about problems and struggles. This earned him support from large parts of Germany, making him to one of the most loved and popular politicans, along with his colleague, Foreign Minister Baerbock. Besides his communication, he was also praised for his position against Putin / Russia and his support for Ukraine. Habeck has a history of condeming Russia's actions and speaking out against Putin, as well as warning about the depency on Russia.
His party also has a history of supporting Ukraine. They condemned the annexation in 2014, warned about energy depency, critized Nordstream 2, spoke out against Putin several times and advocated in the past to support and help Ukraine more.
The Greens are currently part of the German government, next to SPD (Chancellor Scholz' party) and the FDP.

Voting for the KAV; lessons on german Democracy
As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, I am a Green party candidate for the KAV Kommunale Ausländer- und Ausländerinnenvertretung.  This is a city council for foreigners for the city of Frankfurt.  It provides foreigners a voice in local politics, by providing their own representative council.
Today I wanted to explain how registering to vote for the KAV works. It is particularly important, in comparison to the US, because you don't even have to register. Once a person is an official resident in Germany, you are already registered. They simply put your contact information on a list when you qualify to vote for the KAV.
Qualifications to Vote for the KAV
18 years of age
German residency
No German citizenship
Your voting instructions (Wahlbenachrichtigung) will be mailed out on February 1st, 2021. You can vote mainly three ways:
In person on election day
By mail
Officially providing someone with the authority to submit your vote for you.
In the US if you are voting by mail (at least in Oregon, where I come from), all ballots are mailed to you automatically two to three weeks before an election.  To vote by mail in Frankfurt, you must submit a request to do so. In your voting instructions mailed to you they provide you with a QR Code, you can submit your request online to do Vote by Mail (www.frankfurt.de/briefwahl), and you can submit your request in person. Online mail-in voting registration is available starting the 18th of January.
To register for mail-in voting you must provide your voting district and voter registration number, both of which are provided in your voting instructions (Wahlbenachrichtigung). If you have not received your voting instructions by the 21st of February, you can email the electoral office (Wahlamt) at [email protected].  All voting in Germany is free of charge, thus no stamps are required.
All of these instructions are provided in german and 22 other languages on the Hessen agah Landesausländerbeitrat website.
As with all democracies, voting is the ultimate tool for providing citizens with a voice. My local Green Party (Bündis 90 die Grünen) wants that all residents of Frankfurt, Germany have an equal voice, citizenship not required.
Share your voice. Help build equality within diversity.
Election day for the KAV is the 14th of March, 2021.
