Hey guys! here are some alternatives for wilbur soot and/or lovejoy!
Joe Goldsmith - Lead guitarist/backing vocalist for lovejoy, has his own solo career with amazing music similar to lovejoy (I want to clarify the one I linked in the comments is NOT the Joe we’re talking about here! Im so sorry about that!)
James marriott - Amazing vocals and catchy tunes! He's also a commentary youtuber
Cavetown - Pretty similar to lovejoy, lots of good vocals
Ricky Montgomery - Easy to listen to, has lots of quiet catchy songs
The Strokes - Indie rock band with instrumentals a lot like lovejoy + very nice vocals
The Fairways - Less well-known indie band with calm vocals and similar instrumentals
Fish in a birdcage - Modern renaissance indie band with amazing instrumentals
Los Campensinos - Lovejoy/wilbur has covered a lot of songs by them! Very catchy and great to sing along to
Beach Bunny - Rock band, very catchy and great to sing to
Bully - Probably the most like lovejoy. Great instrumentals and amazing vocals
Neon trees - Great angry music, loud big instrumentals
Arctic monkeys - Calmer, great vocals and easy to sing to

to anyone who was a fan of wilbur or liked lovejoys music, here are some recommendations!!!!
(i must warn you that my music taste leans more towards rock/alt but i still have a lot of indie as well)
-wallows
-djo (it's actually great, not just the tiktok song)
-TopLady (my personal fav is Green Light Red Light)
-bikini kill, my beloved.
-current joys
-dayglow
-beabadoobee! (specifically her song, 'talk')
-gorillaz
-tame impala (i think their music is cool)
-brent faiyaz
-miguel
-the beaches (their song blame brett is addicting, for me at least.)
-ezra furman (mainly their song, lilac and black)
-the runaways
-CROWDED HOUSE 🙏🙏
-HOT FLASH HEAT WAVE (THEIR SONG HESITATION IS SOOOOOO 😩)
-yot club!
-peter bjorn & john (their song young folks is good, you might have heard it in gossip girls ep1, s1)
-empire of the sun (i recommend their song we are the people)
-wolf alice! (don't delete the kisses is popular, i think)
-song telephones by VACATIONS
-vance joy
-the drums (especially their song 'money', it reminds me of yot club)
-carwash (their song striptease is sososososososo good 😊)
-slowdive
-pinegrove [i think this one is controversial but i can't remember:( ]
-no buses by artic monkeys (this is a classic/popular band, you probably already listen to them)
-MICKEY DARLING (recommend their song im just a buzzkill and big sad)
-ladyhawke (mainly their song 'my delirium', i must warn that this artist is under the genre pop, just incase if you aren't looking for that)
-JAWNY (if you don't know who that is, one song that is well known is, 'trigger of love'.)
-WILLIS (i like their song, 'i think i like when it rains)
-Cottonwood Firing Squad (personal fav song of theirs: hospital beach)
-the daughters of eve (a classic, especially the song 'hey lover')
-fall out boy (i love them ❤️)
-EYEDRESS (i believe their song 'jealousy' is popular)
-Dream, Ivory. (i have so many favs of theirs but my no.1 is their song 'welcome and goodbye.')
-dr.dog (this is a rock band, their song, 'where'd all the time go' is popular, especially among the outer banks fandom.)
-cocteau twins (their song cherry coloured funk is a must)
-cherry by chromatics
-boygenius!!!
-big thief
-big black car by gregory alan isakov (this is folk not indie but it's still good)
-awfultune! (popular songs of theirs would be i met sarah in the bathroom but i also recommend their song redesign.)
-milky chance (their no1 hit was stolen dance)
you could also listen to the neighbourhood but less known songs (fallen star, jealou$y, etc.)
sorry if majority of these are rock/alternative, i have a variety of music genres i listen to but rock happens to be my number 1.
you might not like these recommendations but hopefully they give you an idea of what to look for.
anyway, sending lots of love and support to shelby and wilbur soot's close friends, i can't imagine what it must be like to discover someone who was a big brother, etc to you was so horrible to his own girlfriend. genuinely disgusting.
i will forever miss wilbur soot but i will not miss william gold.
i will miss the times when he'd play geoguessr or when he'd make silly jokes but i will not miss him being a literal abuser, groomer, etc.
i don't wish death on him however.
i hope he learns his lesson. i also hope he takes actual accountability, instead of whatever that shit 'apology' was. it literally overtook colleen ballinger's ukelele apology ffs 🤦‍♀️

can u recommend some bands? i think i like ur music taste and i am terrible at finding music
ty :)
of COURSE I can <3 you’ve probably heard of some of these, but maybe there’ll be some you haven’t! I don’t know what you already like, so… here we go :)
Hozier. Yeah this was always going to be first on the list I’m currently listening to basically nothing else! He’s an Irish folk/soul/blues/etc idk musician who uses a lot of religious and mythological themes in his lyrics and has a lot of songs that include social justice commentary.
The Amazing Devil is a folk rock band with an incredibly unique sound. Their songs are incredibly emotional and have an awesome fantasy vibe going on—plus there’s two singers, and they often sing independently from each other, which is something you don’t see often!
Good Morning Bedlam is a bluegrass band that I’ve gotten into recently! They’re sort of like… a mix of the amazing devil and the crane wives?
The Crane Wives, while we’re at it, and
The Oh Hellos. they’re fairly similar and I don’t have a ton to say about their stylistic differences, but they’re all definitely worth checking out!
Florence & The Machine. Most people have heard of them but I always like to recommend them anyway
Alec Benjamin, if you’re into softer indie music! He has a lot of different styles of lyrics, but his voice is consistent, so he’s great to listen to if you’re looking for that sort of variety.
Chxrlotte doesn’t have a lot of music out, but I’m a big fan of the music she has released, including the ones about Good Omens! The others are more angsty which I love too.
The Family Crest is an orchestral indie pop rock band, which blows my mind. I can’t believe orchestra isn’t a more utilized tool in popular lyrical music, because they do it so well.
Good Kid is actually my brother’s favorite band, and I love them too. They’re also indie rock, but they have a very distinctive style and are easy to get into! Plus they haven’t released a shit ton of songs like some other artists, so it isn’t overwhelming to explore their discography.
Jonatha Brooke is an artist I only know about because my mom liked her music a lot in the 90s, but she’s got a super nice voice and has some awesomely relatable lyrics. I especially recommend her album Ten Cent Wings!
Midlake is a super melodic folk rock band. I’m obsessed with their album The Courage of Others, which has a melancholy vibe that’s super easy to get lost in.
Palaye Royale is harder rock than anyone else on the list so far, but they’ve got an awesome style. Unique voice and definitely darker themes in their lyrics.
Tears for Fears is a pop rock band that I love because my dad does. (My parents are musicians—I trust their music taste).
Toad the Wet Sprocket got their name from Monty Python, but PLEASE go listen to the Architect of the Ruin EP. You will not regret it. Also the song Something’s Always Wrong is like… entrenched in my very being.
Elbow is a band that I never see in fandom circles, but they’re definitely not obscure. Check out their album Little Fictions! They’re kind of like Midlake.
Will Wood ranges from chaotic and fun (The Normal Album) to absolutely soul-crushing (in case I make it)! Sometimes even both at the same time!
(I would’ve also put Paramore, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and other rock/pop punk bands I like on there, but I assumed you already know them.) (If you were looking for harder rock or metal, let me know, because this list is not that.)
If you want more genre-specific recs or even album/song recs, don’t hesitate to ask!! Music is the fuel of my soul.

Yesterday was the day of the fight against AIDS and I wanted to give priority to that post that the band recomendation, so I post it now:
VULPES/VULPESS
(The name is a reference to foxes, that in spanish, the female "zorra" can also be used as the insult "bitch")
This basque group of four women was formed in 1982, beeing one of the first punk bands in Spain, they became more famous in 1983 when they went to the TV to sing their song "Me gusta ser una zorra" (I like to be a bitch), the song created a big scandal and that same year they decided to disband.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Music genre: punk rock
Political opinions: Their songs are mostly about the women's freedom, sexual freedom and punk subculture.
Polemics: Just that their songs are really direct, and because of that they had some problems.
Song recomendations: "Me gusta ser una zorra", "Sexo por la cara" and "Felipe es un punk"

My Future Islands fanart post!
They deserve so much appreciation! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Future Islands is an amazing band, their music is full of emotions and they have THE BEST live performances! They have given me so many great inspirations for how deeply felt their music is and how dedicated they're to what they do. I was lucky to have met these guys and they're just also just the sweetest people ever.
They'll probably have more shows in north America and Europe next year, if they come to your town, seize your chance to see them! They keep their ticket price low and the lines are usually not too crazy so I recommend going a couple hours early to get front rows for the best experience, it's really really worth it! :)
A few recommendations to begin with from me if you wanna check them out:
(their live is even better than the recording tho!)

Opal In Sky has taught me 3 important things.
Believe in yourself.
Wearing earplugs at a concert isn't lame and protecting your hearing now leads to better hearing later
Bring at least a six pack of cheap beer when you go metalhead hunting.

punk band mondayzz????
u should. u should listen to Big Joanie!!!!!! they’re an all-Black, all-female trio :))) /pos /nf
subgenres: post, riot grrrl
members: Stephanie Phillips (guitar, vocals), Chardine Taylor-Stone (drums), Estella Adeyeri (bass)
past members: Kiera Coward-Deyell (bass)
song reccs: Dream No 9, In My Arms, Crooked Room, Cactus Tree, No Scrubs (fabulous cover!), Giant
origins:
- London
- Stephanie and Chardine met through Imkaan
- Stephanie posted online asking for bandmates for a Black feminist punk band in 2013; Chardine and Kiera responded
- Kiera later moved to Scotland and was replaced by Estella in 2017
where’s the band’s name from?: Stephanie’s mother’s name (Joan) and a Caribbean figure of speech inspired it. Stephanie said in an interview that “When we say a child is ‘acting big’, they’re acting bigger than themselves. I just thought that would be a great phrase for a strong, confident woman.”

🎶 (decided to make it a separate post since that is easier)
(because of the recent things going on with tally hall)
if anyone could recommend bands with a similar vibe with no swearing in the songs or titles (and not a “kid’s” band) that have cds maybe that would be lovely :)
(the reason I’m specifying no swearing is so if my family hears me mention them for whatever reason they wouldn’t be all weird about it if they looked up the band :3)
mainly looking for bands that have songs like the ones from Marvin’s* and Good & Evil and both versions of Moon Waltz (by Cojum Dip) :]
(minus most of banana man. the chill part and piano at the end are cool tho.)
