I love the “Mumbo’s some kind of supernatural creature” headcanons, and I love the “Mumbo’s just a guy” headcanons, but may I propose: “everyone thinks Mumbo is some sort of creature thing but he’s actually just a bit strange”

“His eyes are so red they basically glow!” My guy inhales enough redstone to power a small machine on the daily.

“He’s nocturnal! He’s always up at night!” Insomnia.

“It’s like he teleports! He just appears behind people” he’s just naturally very quiet and people don’t hear him walking up.

“He knows so many random facts, there has to have been around for ages to learn all that” he’s just a nerd.

Mumbo gets nervous anytime someone tries to interrogate him, making the hermits even more suspicious, but in actuality he’s just worried they’ll be disappointed and he’s starting to realise they probably won’t believe him no matter what answer he gives.

There’s a server-wide bet going for who can figure out what he actually is. Grian, who’s known him for years and knows full well that’s he’s 100% mortal and human, shows up and starts egging the hermits on by “dropping hints” as to what he may be, much to Mumbo’s dismay. Grian thinks the bet is utterly hilarious.

secret husbands) scar being grians fave perch. after grian started getting comfortable with the other hermits i imagine he started perching on other people- although not everyone can actually take the perch. first time he tried landing on mumbos shoulders they both fell over. i’m also imaging grian perched on impulses shoulders at one point in boatem, scar comes up to chat, and grian hops from impulse to scar, leaving impulse with a mouthful of his feathers lol (this is a common occurrence, and furthers the hermits opinions that they are both in love with each other, and i mean they aren’t wrong lol)

grian is a total menace when it comes to perching on people. he likes divebombing sometimes, or just randomly appearing and startling them — ofc scar is his favorite one to do this to

and it’s a silent rule that if grian is perching on someone when scar comes over, grian moves to scar, no hesitation or questions asked. scar is more than happy to have his husband perching on him

it’s just unfortunate for those he leaves. they always get hit with a ton of feathers

the hermits use this as evidence to grian being down bad for scar. they’re collecting data

okay so i've been just absolutely brainrotting over this for like weeks now and its time to finally post it!

i've basically just been compiling songs that i think fit each of the life series winners, and they're either songs i've seen work really really well in animatics already or songs that would probably work really well, but are less popular or not associated with this fandom (yet)

i'll be linking+listing them here as well as providing little snippets of explanation for why i think the song fits, but i don't feel like making actual spotify playlists or smth, so if anyone else wants to do that, be my guest.

3. Take Me to War - The Crane Wives: i know that everyone and their mother has done desertduo crane wives, but i've yet to see anyone use this song, which is a shame since its one of my favorites!

4. Community Gardens - The Scary Jokes: this is watcher!grian again, sorry not sorry- i do have a really vivid image in my head of an animatic for this song tho (the brainrot goes deep, i cannot escape)

Full disclosure, I am a monster A creature of despair, not that that should be a cause for concern (its so watcher coded im gnawing on the walls)

(ok so remember when i said i had an animatic idea about two sentences ago? ya. so i imagine this part as watcher!grian going through and causing the final deaths of all the winners (except scar we'll get there i promise) for instance, smiting scott at the end of LL, severing pearl's soulmate string in DL, and checking the time left before killing martyn in LimL)

The culmination of man's mistakes came the day The sun ran so hot, it turned the desert to glass (this is the whole "hail mary" thing where they blew up the whole desert and still didn't kill anyone)

If there's something to be learned from all these losers It's that the price that you pay For arrogance and a false sense of immunity Is to face the wrath of a dying star (false sense of immunity is scar's no kill passes, reputation points, etc., which really didn't mean all that much in the end (see: Bdubs))

5. Passerine - The Oh Hellos: aside from the obvious bird symbolism (passerine are songbirds), the overall theme of this song fits the character pretty well! (i think it could also apply to DL jimmy if you squint)

You were the song that I'd always sing You were the light that the fire would bring But I can't shake this feeling that I was only Pushing the spear into your side again (3L typical desert/light/sun/fire imagery, with a bonus helping this time of 3L typical self doubt and/or survivor's guilt! you love to see it)

Idk how cc's plan all the stories, but it is kind of bummer that Impulses resistance is now tied only to Grumbot and therefore Grian, even tho we were plotting revolution on Impulses streams at least 2 weeks prior. The "sculk infecting Impulse" could have been really cool lore, but ofc it would require some props building etc., so "remove king claim" is much easier way. Impulse could have his very own "evil" arc.

quick question, would different realms have different flags? like if a country has a specific flag would the nether of fae realm have one?

Now this is an interesting question! 👀

So, flags and such are definitely done by country/kingdom, not realm, but there are no cross-realm societies (yet) so there's no flags (or crests) found in more than one realm, so you could, at the current point in time, separate flags and symbols and crests into "Fae Realm" and "Nether Realm" and "End Realm" etc etc.

The Fae realm doesn't have flags but they do have crests; each individual Court (the High Court, the Low Courts, and the individual courts among the Divine (all non-Elf Fae, including the Allay and Vex Courts)) has its own symbol and crest.

Among the Humans, ofc, different countries have different flags, as do different kingdoms- and, within Old Hermetia, territories within the kingdom would have both the flag of the royal family plus their own territory's flag. For example, Mumbo was a duke in Old Hermetia, so he would have both the flag of the king he served and the flag of his duchy (which was basically his family crest on pretty fabric). (bonus info, Mumbo's duchy was split into a few different counties and the counties had their own flags, too, but ofc their own flag was never given more respect (aka flown higher) than the duchy's, which was never given more respect than the kingdom's :3 hi hello I'm mildly obsessed with cultural symbols and etiquette/traditions, Hermetia was split into 4 duchies- the north, south, east and west, with the kingdom's capital/the king's palace having been at the heart of the kingdom; Mumbo was the duke of the northern duchy, and as such was one of the five most powerful people in the entirety of Old Hermetia (thus why he was able to do so much and had so much influence)- and so yeah, whoo medieval european influence! ... I thought it was fitting for the Brit whose entire thing is Making Other British People Feel Not British (see: Tommy's video he made with Mumbo and Grian, where being around Mumbo makes him "feel like an American") to be from a european-esque civilization forgive me)

As for like, the Nether, I'm not sure if they would have flags tbh. That feels very flammable. If they do, I definitely think the Piglins would have their own flag (possibly different settlements might have their own spin on the flag, since they're so far separated, and the little differences pile up the further you get that eventually it becomes a whole different flag, but ya know), and clusters of Nether Hybrid communities would have their own (again, they're probably so spread out that they have different clusters with different flags and different cultures, especially if they live in different biomes).

Now, as for the End... I think the End would have just one flag, like they'd be the only realm to have an actual Flag For The Whole Realm (tho the High Court is often used as default to represent the Fae Realm) because everything is pretty homogenous there; you only have two types of people living there, the Endermen and Endermen Hybrids (other living things include Dragons and Dragon Hybrids and Shulkers and Shulker Hybrids and [redacted]s but they're all so rare that you're not likely to find a community for them... except Shulkers, Shulkers are absolute menaces, but Shulker Hybrids are rare), and in Midnight- fun fact!- Endermen were once Humans who stayed too long in the harsh environment of the void-exposed realm. When people went to the End realm the first time, the only living things there were Shulkers and Dragons and Endermites (which are just bug things, pests at best). And chorus fruit, which combined with said void-exposure may have contributed to the Humans evolving into Endermen/Hybrids. I think, for the most part, at least in Midnight, most people in the End live on the Midnight-world equivalent of the spawn island where the portal between realms is, and I like to imagine a grand, sprawling, Tall™ End City there (but like, much cooler than what we get in the actual game ofc) and the further you get from the heart of the realm you start to find scattered communities and smaller cities and maybe even crystalline/glassy biomes-

I was rereading your post that explains their powers and I realized you wRote that Lizzie hid her power from the others 

That Means that she knew about her power before moving out a detail I forgot because I assumed that she found out about it after she left 

But if it was sooner than I have a question about the siblings also the world of the au as a whole

Are people with powers born with them and At what ages did the siblings realize they had powers And what is the normal age for people with powers to find out about it

Also Who was the first sibling to desplay there powers and who was the first to find out they had powers 

I make the distinction between displaying powers and find out about powers because of jimmy

What if Jimmy actually showed signs sooner than the others making him an early bloomer but he was the last sibling to figure it out for reasons you’ve already touched on 

imma be real I've been playing how the powers world pretty fast and loose because I wasn't emotionally prepared to figure it out lol. I imagined a semi mha kinda beat, maybe a little more like an old world i used to deal with. There isn't a set time you're supposed to develop powers. Mostly just, before your 25- aka when your fully developed. A There's a wide range of how powers manifest in that time, some types of powers maybe are more prone to being developed early or late. A lot of people don't have powers at all, more than the mha population, enough that its not weird to be powerless really.

Grian found out his powers first between the siblings, and was probably first to display them. He figures out he could make flashing little lights pretty young and was a menace to get to bed when he could just make a bunch of blinking nightlights at will. Ofc his powers got more volatile than a silly lightshow as he developed them, but that basic is still there, he probably found them out before he was ten. Maybe 8 or somethin. Like a year after meeting Lizzie and Jimmy.

I'd imagine Pearl was the next to discover her powers, little sister energy mimicking Grian and that worked out for her after a few years because her powers are an inverse to his in a way, clearly the same genepool got them lol.

However, I'd say Jimmy probably started manifesting his before Pearl discovered hers, just no one realized the toddler and more apparent the as a child breaking things when he's upset was anything more than accidents . Ofc he is the last to realise he has powers, not until he's an older teen, with the Codfather.

and ofc Lizzie discovered her powers 3rd, but manifested them last. In a fight with her step-mother she discovered her ability to transform and even her more subtle powers of water breathing and swimming expertise weren't well explored before now.

Dream’s greatest issue is not developing a content-friendly way of venting frustration, like he is emotional and can’t control it when he gets frustrated which is the worst combination.

Him being highly emotional destroys any logical thinking during situations like this - his rant was him being an idiot and not acknowledging he had no context or what was possible for the game - i.e suggesting they should’ve ended the game asap or average coins which wasn’t built in. If he wasn’t so emotional he could’ve thought through it a bit more and shut up. Doesn’t help tthat he thinks he’s logical at these points so he sounds like the nerd emoji but everything he says is wrong 😭

The lack of control destroys any attempts to turn it into humour like a lot of other streamers do - Micheal McChill absolutely raging against Ace Race is funny because he has enough control to direct his frustration to make the content work still. Or even enough to walk away from the situation consistently, I know he has a few times in situations where he underperforms or a minor glitch happens, and will remove himself from sitautions a lot (re: muting to focus when not doing well, leaving stream quickly) - I know people will say he’s a bad sport if he leaves mid game to collect himself but anyone saying that doesn’t understand people work differently. Emotional + Not being good a controlling it is such a mess because it comes off as incredibly misdirected anger and there is no content it’s just cringe. It always feels like when he goes on a rant (even if I think this one was tempered because he did litter it with useless mcc praise) and acts like this that he will come down from it and immediately regret it. Tbh I’ve always hoped that Dream reconsiders therapy after his fr (and hopefully the improvement in mental health since hed be less paranoid and will be able to go outside and not have a panic attack 😭 will get him to be more included) < last bit is a bit too parasocial tbh but I just want him to improve because there’s always overblown twitter drama over something where people say he should “just not react like that” which isn’t helpful in the slightest when discussing an actual person.

Also while I’m here, I hate the way his fans defend him sometimes because they go about it the wrong way. Here they will say he has a right to express an opinion and I will agree, if that opinion is controlled and doesn’t have the two comments that were main issue in this case. One was the implying bias towards someone else - could’ve been a joke, Dream is bad at tone, but harmful still when some people think the entirety of noxcrew hate him (they could tbh but so long as it doesn’t effect their work it doesn’t matter if they do) && the other being the “criticism vs hate” comment because while true, there is a difference, they overlap a lot which Dream has experienced and already accepted before (“criticism comes with hate” - Dream, 2022). Plus his fans are only largely going to parrot his flawed critism that was made with no context to noxcrew on mass 😭 just tell twitter to shut up about mcc “crit” and half the drama surround you will be gone bro (it doesn’t work like that ofc but similar sentiment).

Don’t worry about it friend. I agree with you a lot on these points. I love watching Dream’s content myself he was the one who introduced me to many others I watch now. Eret, Foolish, Philza, Grian, Scar, etc…

I find it sad that when he get angry his fans see it as their gods given right to spread hate in his name. I don’t think Dream can control his fans, but rather he can be aware of what they do. He never seems to genuinely care when they are doing horrible things to other people saying it’s for him.

I remember Markiplier and Jacksepticeye sometimes telling their fans they do not encourage this behavior. And they truly meant it. And would block people who claimed to be a fan who harmed others online.

But I fail to see this with Dream, and it frustrates me. I get loving your fans but like with friends irl once they start to be toxic and do questionable things, you need to question is they are worth keeping.

I struggle myself with emotional ADHD outbursts. But I do my best to remind myself that I can’t let these emotions, this anger, cloud my judgement. I need to be careful with what I say and how I say it. I don’t censor myself but I take my words into consideration to how others will react to it.

I feel Dream hasn’t wound that yet in himself, and let his competitive side cloud his mind. He lets his anger take hold of his words and says them without think until it’s already too late.

Which sucks as I don’t want him banned from MCC. But the more he pulls this stuff I wonder how much longer until he does something that will really get him in deep water.

"Hmm... I had plenty of friends growing up until some stuff happened, but I'll describe the major ones! G was... a menace, first and foremost, but also really nice. He had really good ideas about 85% of the time, and he was really creative. He drew a lot, if I remember correctly. Mumbo, oh dear- he was a mess. All of the time. He was unintentionally hilarious though, and he was real smart. He really liked the- uh- those fake mustache stickers you get at like- the dollar store and you stick 'em to your face? Those." Impulse was the oldest, so he was like- the unspoken leader. He kept us all in check, but like- in a nice way. He's really cool." Pearl was really creative, like Grian. She had a habit to put everything upside down, and really, as long as it wasn't our stuff, we didn't mind. She usually stayed with G, since she knew him the best. Fast forward several years, there's Joel. He- we dated for like, a year. It started a month or two before I met Cub for the first time, so he was there for when I was at my lowest. I don't think I can ever repay him for that. We eventually broke it off since I ended up getting sent into homeschooling, and we grew distant. It was a quiet breakup, but we continued talking for a while after. Now I don't know how he is, since we haven't talked in years. I hope he's fine, he's a great guy. I wish him the best."

- while on the topic of mumbo, this man is constantly getting caught up in the mess of the villain of the week. cuteguy and hotguy are frequently rescuing him

- grian got his job at imp and skizz through pearl! she put in a good word for him, and was hired on the spot

- scar has been known to (frequently) go home in the clothes he models in (by accident — he just forgets okay!)

- bdubs is not amused by this

- scar also has a sketchbook with lots of drawings he’s done when bored

- grian’s penchant for letting his curiosity lead him has gotten him into plenty of trouble before. impulse and skizz are exasperated with him
