I just booked a trip to Colombia again, it will be my second time visiting. This time I'll be traveling solo and while I am really excited I also feel somewhat nervous lol. The last time I visited I was with friends who already visited Colombia before. However I feel like it's time I start doing more solo trips and venture out on my own. I have a strong desire to live a nomadic lifestyle at some point in life, like I really don't like staying in the same place for too long. I want to go out and explore the rest of the world to be honest. During my last trip to Colombia I had such a good time, hiking, experiencing beautiful sunsets and more, but one experience I'll always cherish is visiting a coffee farmer in Guatapé, I believe he was in his 50s. He dodged my question when I asked him his age and said "I'm still young enough to chug a few liters of Águila" which is a very popular beer in Colombia. Either way, we ended up having a deep convo about life. He shared some of his struggles in life and I shared mine. He was truly one of the kindest people I've ever met and after our little chat he gave me some advice that will stick with me forever: "Have enough doubt to recognize that things may not go as planned, but have enough faith in God and yourself to trust everything will be fine in the end. Stop wasting your energy on things that are out of your control, Sure you can reminisce a little, but don't let it consume you." The guy was living a very minimalistic lifestyle, but he had the greatest smile. The positive energy was literally radiating from him lol and I quickly realized that you don't need that much in life. A grateful heart and the right mindset to appreciate the simple things in life is all you ever need. Like, all this time I believed that I'd always be better off on my own. I still value my solitude and enjoy being alone, but I've come to the realization those thoughts/beliefs was only being empowered by the wrong people I met in life.

The stone of Peñol This giant monolith is found in the nation of Colombia, in the town of Guatapé. It rises 200 meters above the surrounding terrain and has been carved smooth by the plants and rainfall in the area. It was first climbed in the 1950s when a pair of local climbers wedged boards into the single crack in the side of the rock. Today 649 steps carry tourists to the top of this rock, where a 3-story observation tower is found. The rock itself is igneous, a rounded piece of a granitic-like rock, dominated by quartz and feldspars and weathered round like many granitic monoliths. -JBB Image credit: https://flic.kr/p/afxP7g Read more: http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/el-penon-de-guatape
