Brenda e Iván: A Vintage Cartagena Wedding
We want to share this about our ceremony:  Our ceremony was everything we imagined, a traditional catholic wedding with the most important people in our lives. I always imagined getting married in the same church I did my first communion and my husband didn’t hesitate for a second before saying yes to the idea. We incorporated Mexican traditions which made it a total living of a dream, the best…

The Battle of Colors - Barranquilla, Colombia – February 2006
The Carnival of Barranquilla is a unique festivity which takes place every year during February or March on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Cumbia, both music and dance, is considered to be the main essence of the Carnival. A colourful mixture of the ancient African tribal dances and the Spanish music influence – cumbia, porro, mapale, puya, congo among others – hit for five days nearly all central streets of Barranquilla, the capital of the Atlántico Department. Those traditions kept for centuries by Black African slaves have had the great impact on Colombian culture and Colombian society. In November 2003 the Carnival of Barranquilla was proclaimed as the Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Just remembered that one person (and the only person thankfully) who flamed me all the way back in my Encanto defense post where I said Pepa's skin color changing from tan in the concept art to "white" (in quotes because applying usamerican race labels to Latino people is oof) in the final design isn't racist. They really thought they had a point arguing with me, a Colombian who spent their life across different regions including the one where the film takes place (Eje Cafetero) and whose family is pretty much EXACTLY like the Madrigals.................. Like this person was so ill-informed about our country they didn't know it would've been LESS accurate and WAY MORE Disrespectful to Not have a light-skinned character because that whole region is like 99.9% light skinned lmao. Really if Encanto had been set in like. La Costa or the whole northwest or the south I would've DEF agreed with them that adding a light-skinned character was unnecessary and might've not been done in very good faith but GIRL IT'S EL EJE EVERYONE LOOKS LIKE A GRINGO IM CRYING

Hell I cant believe Im gonna say this but twitter is finally making me laugh ...and thats thanks to Oye Primos
1- The title is badly written
2- The protagonist´s nick name is ¨Cuquita¨ wich literally means ¨little pussy¨ in my country
3- The fucking sky is yellow ala Mexico in Braking Bad
4- None of the characters wear shoes, like wtf are we too poor for shoes or what? lol
5- The ¨whole family lives in the same house¨ stereotype/cliche
6- Most of the latinoamerican countries have been devastated by earthquakes throughout history and the writers have the audacity to call the show´s town ¨Terremoto Highs¨ = "Earthquake Highs¨
There is nothing wrong with Americans creating shows based on other cultures... but for the love of god, investigate about that culture first!!
