The Batman fandom infantilizing a near 30 years old white man taking in a child, saying he was a brother more than a father as if he wasn't a full grown adult taking in a child he could have birthed, but parentifying a brown young adult taking in his brother pre-teen for less than a year, saying he was a father more than a brother (only a year is barely enough but ok), or saying he was more a father to his other brothers than Bruce, when he met them when he was 18 and 21 is making me uncomfortable, ngl.
Like, Bruce is a "kid" when he became Dick's guardian when he canonically was over 25 (he started being Batman at 25), and a brother to him when he raised him for 10 years (and Dick probably has not many memories from before Bruce now), but Dick is a "father" to Damian he only had as his charge for less than a year, half of which they were fighting each others??? Make it make sense???

I been seeing ppl complaining about Dre being brought out but like,,,please use your brain. Dre LITERALLY did the most popular California anthem of all time (California Love) with PAC and this was a show outta INGLEWOOD bringing out BLACK WEST COAST ARTISTS on Juneteenth celebrating the WC scene and showing hood unity with crips (ft. the fucking HOOVERS BRO) and bloods on stage.
Like of course Dot gotta bring out Dre despite all the shit he been doing. You can’t have a show like that uniting the hood and celebrating West Coast rap without Dre. Say what you want about the man (and it’d be justified) but like he had impact and history that needed to be there.

hiiii ^^ beastlife fishie analysis. spoilers ahead. etc etc
okay so. the main point of this is simple. I don't think the salmon head cursed c!fishie. Explaining that is the harder part I think. also i'm going to refer to the salmon head thing in e5 as "the incident" from here on out because frankly i think it's funny
Let's start with the incident. The big day. etc. What happened? Why did it happen? Obligatory third questioning statement? Well. She was gifted the salmon head for her birthday by kiwi(or like. someone in the kiwibird system. -bird system. the birds). Immediately upon receiving it she relives parts of season one and fishie herself doesn't really acknowledge it. The other players definitely notice but im not caught up enough in any other pov yet to like have thoughts on that I'll come back to that point someday. Fishie seems shaken, sure, but she moves on so quickly, especially considering what happened just there. 37 seconds of standing frozen, unresponsive. she recovers in 5 seconds. And seeing how she reacts later on to realizing the memory situation--if she was aware that happened, she would probably be concerned by it. She puts it on for a brief second at the end of the party and takes it off immediately. She's otherwise normal -- well. as normal as she is otherwise up to that point. Because that is also how she acts with pretty much any salmon head, even just kiwi herself.
I raise: Episode one, about 8:20 in. The slow zoom on kiwi as the static overtakes every other noise. This is the *exact* same behavior displayed when fishie receives the salmon head, albeit without actual concrete old video footage style flashbacks. In episode two (28:55ish) the same thing happens when she looks at the salmon head in moch's house, but this time there is technically a flashback -- kiwis grave. Fishie moves on immediately and doesn't acknowledge her behavior at all, and, seeing as it is fishie, im inclined to believe that means she does not know she is doing it. Fishie (when alone) will discuss all of her problems in immense, and usually misguided detail (bestie i promise kiwi doesn't hate you???) to the audience and/or herself. I mean she's not alone in episode one, and it is technically presession, and i guess getting struck by lightning is a decent distraction from your problems, but in episode two? She is completely alone. There is nobody with her. She went looking for moch and moch is not there. She still doesn't acknowledge the fiveish seconds she is completely frozen. This happens again and again with kiwi and salmon heads.
And then that leads you to e5. The incident. She's. well. she's doing worse. 0:50. "This will distract me if i leave it up." This is the first mention from fishie herself about how fucking weird she's being, and even then she doesn't seem concerned. I think she does not realize she's being so so incredibly weird about it. If the static and freezing is what's referred to as "distraction" then keeping it in her inventory makes it worse actually so it wouldn't really make sense unless the way it is distracting her is NOT the. well. whatever the fuck is wrong with her (affectionate). After she puts the head on there's the static all the time but for a short brief amount of time she's like significantly more normal and i don't really know if that means anything i just think it's really funny.
And then we all know what goes on during the incident i'm not analyzing this video frame by frame. um. i could. but i am not going to right now. And then she has the conversation on the table with kiwi where she like is normal for 5 minutes. Like genuinely the most. i guess stable? fishie's thought process is is like in the moments directly after the incident. She is immediately understanding with the antikiwi situation, they come to an agreement that they're like. okay now. "thank you for everything and im so sorry i couldnt do more" / "it was short, but it was nice" "i knew what i was getting into when i married you" etc etc and then they kind of rush it at the end because people won't stop dying. But then fishie is fishie and takes it in the complete opposite extreme (from. um. whatever was wrong up until now. to "oh kiwibird must secretly hate me because" and then there's no real good reason she's just like that) and it's also an issue. And i think the season two memory thing is also a part of that but this is so long already and so i'm not going to get into it rn. So bringing all of this back to my original point: the salmon head was not the cause of the curse(?) because she's been so weird all the time forever and the salmon head thing was just like. an effect. of whatever went Wrong(tm) in the season transition. like the head was a vessel to Be Worse about it but i feel like it would have worked with any salmon head she got her hands on and that it happened to be kiwico was a coincidence and also that the head wasn't cursed at all there's just something deeply wrong with fishie s3 in general and uh yeah 👍
I'm so sorry this is so disjointed i had a thesis statement and everything. alas
#whisp whispers#fishie beastlife spoilers#since i had to rewatch videos these tags will serve as going insane about details i missed that were irrelevant to the post#i could make a whole thing on the parallels between fishie and bree. 'at least im not the only one with a troubled love life' yeah i guess#this is taking me ages to finish because if i think about beastlife fishie too long it genuinely spikes my heart rate#i think there's something wrong with me#fishie and bree both leaping at the oppurtunity to trade with their exes is so funny to me#someone should do indepth research about the way fishie interacts with dingo because i haven't been paying attention to it#by 'someone' i mean me because i'm the only one who can do that. other beastlife fan if you see this. holds out hand do you want#to make an analysis post with me .......#i appreciate kiwi trying so hard to do bug facts because bree's moth take is toooo insane for him. we can yes and the alien bit he draws th#line at incorrect moth facts though#'im neutral this is just fascinating' <-really funny in retrospect#*this is also taking so long forever because i keep distracted by whatever the fuck is wrong with everyone that i can't remember how to lik#put things into words#for what is a housewife without a house and no longer a wife?#'sorry guys it's just gonna be a lot of decorating today' YOUUUU. YOU. (<quote from beginning of e5)#ratchelor pad guitar riff is horrid on 2x speed. never do this what i'm doing right now#one of my irls is still in awe of the 6person boogie kill (or rather how nobody noticed fishie preparing the 6person boogie#is it boogey or boogie#does oku falling off a pillar and dying in the middle of fishie lore also count as a fishie proximity death#fishies curse is that people won't stop dying in the death games#also hiiiii fishieeeee you said you enjoyed analaysis. um. this one went a little off the rails i think and is more theory than analysis#posting this and disappearing off the face of the internet. cringe is dead but like. i mean you get it

Underappreciated aspect of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye (by me, I’m the only one appreciating anything about Splinter of the Mind’s Eye in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty and four) is that Luke is unhesitating in stabbing a bitch. Straight up he cuts off multiple limbs and several people in half.
Luke woke up and decided that mercy was for another day and honestly I fucking love when the Jedi are unflinchingly brutal yet perfectly placid in killing.

Playable Patty Concept? Playable Patty Concept!
Truth be told, this has been stirring in between my ears for a while now. Patty is always fun to brainstorm about, and I've seen some posts discussing her playstyle, so I've decided to put my hat in the ring.
First things first, what makes Patty unique?
Every single character in DMC has their own unique quailty to their gameplay that differentiates them from each other. Lady primarily uses guns, Vergil has the motivation gauge, which encourages precise and accurate gameplay, Dante has a revolving door of weapons and guns, you get the picture.
So, what about Patty?
Patty is the descendent of a demon summoner, and thus has the ability to summon recreations of powerful demons she has already defeated (bosses). She utilizes these alongside her rapier and her twin pistols to mow down demon hordes like a freshly cut lawn.
In a way, this style would be somewhat similar to Nero; one melee weapon and one gun weapon with a revolving door of one more thing. However, the demon summons themselves would be more similar to Dante's weapon switching, with some differences. Which leads us too...
How does Patty's weapons work in gameplay?
Similarly to Nero, Patty has her pistols and her rapier. The pistols are somewhat similar to Ebony and Ivory, but they are much more equal, both technically being interchangeable for the other rather than having specfic purposes. These pistols, whose names are Fuchsia and Magenta (she was ten and wanted to have cool, rhyming guns like Dante), are special in their ability to link up with her demon summons for combos, but we'll get into that soon.
Patty's rapier, affectionately nicknamed Harmonia after the Greek godess of unity (Vergil approved), is unique in DMC weapons in its swordplay style. Instead of slashing like the DSD or Red Queen, Homonia is designed for stabbing and disarming. Patty's sword style is much more reliant on dodging and finding openings for stab attacks than just brute force. This works in tandem with Patty more squishy nature compared to the Demon Bois. Harmonia also links up with demon summons for combos, just like Magenta and Fuchsia.
So, how do Patty's demon summons work?
Similarly to Dante and Vergil, Patty has a rotating door of different summons collected from the remnants of her bosses throughout this hypothetical game. She can switch between them just like how Dante switches his weapons, and she can summon them with a click of a button, just like V. They can also be dismissed at the click of a button as well.
Unlike V's familiars, however, these summons are autonomous and attack enemies with basic attacks with no input from Patty. She can, however, run up to a summon and link up with them to access their combos. Each summon is upgradable, and they are all unique. I don't currently have concepts for these summons specifically, but at least one should be a demon from the Anime for funsies.
Okay, but what about Patty's upgrades specifically? What is her skill ceiling like?
Now this is where the fun begins.
Patty's skill ceiling comes from the player's ability to manage summons. Which one should you use when, that type of thing. However, with a simple upgrade, Patty can have multiple summons out fighting at the same time. Obviously this can become chaotic, especially when the player upgrades enough so that ALL of Patty's summons can come out at the click of a single button.
Obviously, this can can be overwhelming for the player. Four separate, autonomous entities all fighting enemies and you want a specific one for combos but you have to run up to it in the middle of the extremely chaotic fight just to use the combos you want? Seems like a hassle. Thus, there would be upgrades that let the player map specific summons to certain buttons so that Patty can have her chosen summon immediately link up with her for combos.
Essentially, Patty's gameplay is like if V's familiars were on DT AI mode the entire game except there are 4 of them and Patty can link up with them for combos as easily as Dante can style-switch. (It would even use the D-Pad just like style-switching on a controller!)
Finally, what about her Devil Trigger Gauge?
Well, looking at the only character somewhat similar to her, V, his DT summons Nightmare. So, Patty's DT would have her summon a powerful demon, easy. But which demon? Nightmare worked because of his status as one of the last bosses before Mundus in DMC 1, and his lore surrounding his power being so great that Mundus threw him into his own dimension because he didn't want to deal with him. But DMC5 Nightmare at least listened to V, so Patty's DT summon would need to at least have to listen her, which most demons, if not all, fundamentally don't. So clearly we've run out of options, right?
... Wrong. Who better to function as Patty's DT summon than the demon she has bossed around and annoyed for a decade at this point? A demon she has managed to get emotionally attached to, and who is definitely emotionally attached to her? A demon who owes her for cleaning the office he trashed in a fight again, so Dante better show up before she drags Vergil into this mess.
Dante's doppelganger features as Patty's DT, and essentially functions similarly to Nightmare. Fully autonomous, until you upgrade him. Then, Patty will jump onto his back for a demon killing piggyback ride. The doppelganger would look similar to Vergil's doppelganger, just with Dante's SDT design and red instead of blue. Also, just for fun, when DT ends Doppel!Dante can say a funny quip as he dissipates along the lines of 'We should do this more often!' or 'Don't tell your mom about this, Pattycakes!' I dunno, something fun :)
Once I had this idea in my head, it just wouldn't go away. The idea of Patty basically calling her dad and asking him to beat the shit out of whatever demons she's fighting is so fucking funny to me. True father-daughter bonding right there.

So i remember a post you did on how oogie boogie might've been mistreating lock shock and barrel do you think jack knew and just didn't do anything or something else
Referring to these posts.
--
I've seen some great interpretations of this *exact* topic in the TNBC Fandom!
Abuse victims can have trouble seeking help for their situations, or expressing it to begin with. I think this relates to Lock, Shock, and Barrel with Oogie Boogie - since they emphasize how "mean" he is in their song, I wouldn't be surprised if they lived in (secret) fear of him, and the repercussions that come with disappointing/disobeying him. They may have a fear of *outright* saying anything, since they would be eaten/punished for it if Boogie hears/sees them doing it. For this reason, I don't think they could've openly expressed what was happening to them with Jack Skellington - but I bet they tried to tell him (or others) in their own ways, or at least hinted to it.
But, as we see Jack's obliviousness in the film, there may be a chance he couldn't understand or really notice what was going on with Lock, Shock, and Barrel. And since they can't directly show/tell him, it may have been difficult to get him to realize and act on it.
However, I should also mention the song segment in Oogie's Revenge, during Rooftop Rumble. At the end of the song, Jack tries to warn the trio about their trust in Oogie, and how it will inevitably lead to his betrayal and their (possible) death. This points to him *knowing* that Oogie is using them for his own gain and 'rewards' them to maintain their trust, but Lock, Shock, and Barrel either refuse to part from Boogie (which can happen with some victims), or they simply **couldn't**. Or Jack just doesn't know about the deeper part of their circumstances with him.
Tumblr media
Overall? I think Jack may understand *something* is going on, and has tried to reach out to the trio by separating them from him (and warning them that he's not trustworthy), since he specifically tells them to leave Oogie *OUT* of kidnapping Santa Claus...but they may be in the situation where they can't exactly leave him (at least, so easily).
