grief & anger. there's a reason fray probably holds them by the collar daily & groans because "why are you like this !!" mae is a champion of bottling things up until they explode with that emotion & the aftermath can at times be quite ugly.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

their appearance. I started back when hw was at like patch 3.2 or something? so the trial was just a few days & did not include au ra. the moment I could make an au ra I wanted a character that just looked like someone from a high fantasy story. I thought long about making a purple au ra, someone who looked soft & flower-y(?) but then decided on the nightsky approach. in retrospect I am so happy about that because it later became a nice contrast to how often azem is likened to the sun.

🎁 PRESENT - what types of presents would they be most happy to receive? are they good at gift giving?

they are most happy about weapon related stuff ( big swords ! big swords ! ) & books. especially trashy erotic novels. they get such a kick out of reading them. & yes. mae does their best to give thoughtful gifts, they may not always succeed but the thought counts & the meaning behind their gifts tend to be obvious.

🔥 Ishgard/Ishgardians :) (can be an opinion or a headcanon!)

Hmm, well I've mentioned this before I think but my unpopular ishgard opinion is that the firmament is such a tonal shift from everything in ARR and HW about ishgard and I really didn't like it when the restoration stuff was going on. It's since grown on me because I do be crafting 24/7 when I'm on this game lmao and because of all the extra screen time we get of the Haillenarte kids and Charlemend, but it was really disappointing at the time just due to how different it is.

In ARR and HW, ishgard is portrayed as this really bleak, miserable city, where even the people doing good have blood on their hands-- Aymeric remarking about the things he had to do to become Lord Commander, and about how helping the Scions was advantageous for shielding Ishgard from the garlean invasion, or the way the false Guillaume throws all of his own murders back in Drillemont's face about how murderous the inquisition and ishgardian church are in the first place and people like Drillemont support that so unquestioningly. It's very much the sort of writing I love in fantasy stuff, like the ivalice FF games are rife with it as is asoiaf which former lead story writer Banri Oda has said was an inspiration for writing HW in the first place.

I know perhaps the point of the firmament is to show that these two (really three, I would count the heretics as their own faction) embittered groups have been able to move past centuries of war to rebuild and have a happier life, but given all that was going on in msq at the time too it just... didn't really feel appropriate? I mean there's dialog in the firmament quests about characters returning from the front line at Ghimlyt, the msq of that time is like.. we are facing a calamity and another large threat! But there's quests in the firmament like, let's turn our canons into fireworks makers because we don't need them for war anymore 🙃

Idk a fun little epilogue and side content for crafters isn't a bad thing.. I just feel like maybe ishgard wasn't the best setting for it. I much much much preferred the glimpses we saw of ishgardian post-war culture in the 3.1 and 3.2 patches and also the MCH 60-70 quests, and I just feel like the firmament falls so short of all the other writing in ishgard in terms of tone.

aaaand that's another lowest weight record! i'm so close to having a bmi below 20:) i think this past weekend's binge fixed my metabolism or smth cus it feels like i haven't lost weight this quickly or easily since like 30 lbs ago lol.

my morning run went better than it has for weeks as well, finished 3.2 mi in 30 mins! I beat my average by like 20 mins! Didn't burn as much as usual due to how fast I completed it but I made up for it later in the evening with a long walk to reach a deficit so it's all good!

today was a busy day. I got a lot done which is great, but I barely had any free time. today for lunch i had pork carnitas tacos with tapatio, half a brownie, and whey protein. then i ate another mini oreo bite. accidentally put more tapatio than I wanted on the tacos lol good thing I love spicy food and have a good tolerance for it. Still, I drank a lot of water from the spiciness of it, which worked out since it filled me up faster.

I ended up eating the rest of my mini oreo bites plus a protein cookie just now which I'm not happy about. good thing I'm still on a cal deficit, would've loved to walk it off but i just wanna finish my hw then go go bed, I'm really tired.

FFXIV Mentor Roulette (Week 1)

I recently unlocked the mentor roulette in Final Fantasy XIV and I thought I would keep a record of what duties I do on the way to 2000.

For those unaware, let me give you a quick rundown. In FFXIV there is group content called Duties. These range from doing a dungeon, to fighting a boss, to three groups fighting bosses. When you sign up for a duty you are put into a matching system where you wait for other players to join. The mentor roulette puts you in any duty that needs your role, in order to unlock it you have to have beaten all the optional dungeons and bosses (with some exeptions for endgame content). One roulette you can be doing the first dungeon in the game and the next you can be put into an ending boss. Do 2000 and you get a cool mount.

I was inspired to record my experences based on a few posts I've seen on reddit that others have done. I'm recording the job I'm playing as, the duty name, the duty type (for simplicity sake, Ive combined level 90 dungeons into the 50/60/70/80 set), the expansion the duty is from, How many times I die (including the party wipe ones), how many times the party wipes, if we cleared it and a little note of what I was thinking about at the end I was so worried starting this that I would just get the main story duties. I don't mind the main story, but the apeal of this is the fact the dungeons can be ANYTHING and I read other posts saying that healers just get put into the main story. However, White Mage is the only one that meets the item level requirement so White Mage it was. To my pleasent surprise I only got Main Story once so far : ) Here is a breakdown of this week's totals

hi hello! can i say, i am incredibly excited and thankful for the existence of xiv script!!! especially because i have such a hard time keeping when things happened straight in my head, and, silly me i did NOT take ARR or HW notes, lol. now i can just reread it! and being able to ctrl+f phrases is so useful!

i had a question about some dialogue in patch 3.2, and perhaps i am having a moment and missing it, but in This War of Ours the text is not displaying the lines where Aymeric asks the WoL for drinks. there's an odd line break there in firefox and in chrome

i was not sure if i was doing something wrong on my end so i thought i'd pop by and ask!

again, thank you so much for all your hard work with the script. its helped me tremendously, and i've been having a lot of fun recontextualizing things in the present day story now that i can more accurately look at the past

oh, it does appear that i missed copying the last couple lines of that scene. thank you for catching it; it's fixed now!!!

i think the line break itself there is normal though? there's a gap because it changes to a different scene. but if you mean something else, let me know!

Sparknotes WoL lore under the cut (HW/SHB spoilers):

Rouvastre de Leuvechier (aka Joranir Tovaica through ARR -> patch 3.2) is my Coerthan-born DRG WoL; they’re agender/genderfluid, use any pronouns, and have two in-game models I switch between periodically. Before the Calamity, he was a minor noble and Durendaire House Knight from a vassal house in the Coerthas Western Highlands, and fled to Ishgard proper with her family during the disaster. Due to what happened during the crisis, the family's abandonment of the area was extremely controversial.

Right at the start of 2.0, their family was falsely accused of heresy for in-universe unknown reasons (the situation is extremely murky); Rouvastre smuggled themselves out of Ishgard and was declared a fugitive, while the rest of the family was tried at Witchdrop. Hiding their identity through all of ARR and most of Heavensward, as of Nidhogg’s death he was placed on trial and later acquitted of all heresy charges.

She later befriended an ex-Horde wyvern named Drahm Kohr, who now powers their DRG abilities as dragon and rider. As of the end of EW, Drahm Kohr has metamorphosed into an elder wyvern. Rouvastre does not have the auto-translate function of the Echo.

He suffered severe burns while fighting Nidhogg, especially to the inner thighs and hands, and post-ShB also retains a line of pale scaling / changes to the eyes from the Lightwarden incident - all of which she’s extremely self-conscious about. As of EW they’re a wolstinien wolship, with previous wolchefant/wolsayle in HW.

Rouvastre is largely my vehicle to explore/write Ishgard lore, and given the nature of Ishgardian society (esp. mid-War Ishgardian society), reader discretion is advised.

This review written by Jaron Lewis gives you an idea of which music distribution company is best for you when you published your song or album for the first time. In the article, he compares five distributors which are Distrokid, CD Baby, Tunecore, Awal, and Ditto, and gives his opinions about them. He first starts with Tunecore and states that it “doesn’t take any commissions. You get to keep 100% of the royalties and their reports are some of the best around, allowing you to get a really good insight into how well your music is doing.” (Lewis 2) What he means by that is if you published your song through there, you still own 100% of the song which is a positive point. The next distributor he discusses is Distrokid which in my opinion is popular because I know a band who used it when they released their first full-length album. Like Tunecore, he states that whenever you release an album or song, “ you keep 100% of the royalties.” (Lewis 4) The third company he talks about is CD Baby. However, unlike the first two, he explains that “ they do charge 9% commission for music streaming and 30% for YouTube distribution. If you’re looking to go down the YouTube route, then it is worth taking this into consideration. “ (Lewis 5) This implies that you don’t get to keep it all as some of it goes to music platforms while almost half of it goes to YouTube. This means that by using CD Baby, your royalties are 61% which isn’t good if it's not 100%. For the last two which are Awal and Ditto, he didn’t have much to say but those two have problems on their own problems. for Awal, he explains that “The biggest downfall of this platform however is that it is invite only, so if you don’t know someone on the inside, you can strike this one off the list.” (Lewis 5) Besides the fact, the Awal is the only company that doesn’t have fees when distributing albums, the fact that you can only invite some people is a red flag since you want more people to listen to your song. As for Ditto, he explains that “there are a lot of hidden costs with Ditto, it is worth reading the small print before signing up to anything.” (Lewis 5) Lewis is basically giving you a heads up before signing up for distributing. Based on his reviews, if I had to pick a distributor to publish my music, I would go for Distrokid because it’s the only common one that I know, and it is easy to use.

On my machine, just because I removed an old version from Hub did not mean it took it off my harddrive. I had to go into this folder in the Hub directory and delete the versions I did not want.

FFXIVWrite 2022 Masterpost

A new year, new lore. I’m starting completely fresh with my miqo Fhara and I’m gonna use this year’s Write as a testing ground for the bits I did come up with before hand, and as a way to flesh out and come up with other new bits.

It’s kinda weird to start over, especially with all the previous writings I already did with references to the old lore, but I think I’d be better with a fresh slate. Mostly. Some of the older works I might be able to carry over if they didn’t feature much of the old lore or if they can be mildly re-written to fit new stuff. Idk yet how I’ll manage the sorting after the month is over, but we’ll see when we get there. Anything that didn’t feature old lore will be easy enough.

In a way, I can at least use the older works as practise, setting up Fhara’s basic character and her relations with the other Scions and characters. Some tiny few things might change but nothing so egregious to call her a different person.

But for the readers of this month, its just the month’s works you need to worry about ^^ If I do reference an older work, it’ll be cos it fits in without needing to be changed.

Some of these might have titles if I can think of one that fits, others might not, we’ll see how it goes.
