A TWO-WEEK SUMMER ROAD TRIP with college kids typically ended with hugs and promises to text and call every day, which wouldn’t ever happen, or perhaps with a sluggish goodbye as everyone dragged themselves into their vehicles to their homes where they would hopefully sleep well in their own beds for a change.

It should be noted that the Westchester 7 aren’t typical–far from it, actually–but even they couldn’t have fathomed what they were coming home to. 

Of course, the ride into town was as normal as any, with good-natured banter such as: 

“Why do you wear sunglasses indoors?” Dan frowned as Desiree adjusted hers so that they sat just before the tip of her nose. She stops fiddling long enough to meet Dan’s questioning gaze.

“Fashion,” Desiree retorted, lowering her small–borderline microscopic if you asked him—green sunglasses just so Dan could feel the weight of her glare, “try it sometime.”

To accompany the offending glasses, she wore a checkered cropped hoodie with a white mesh crop top underneath, a black skirt, a green Off-White belt and beanie, and a pair of green, black and white Balenciagas. Her fresh balayage brushed against her exposed waist as she flipped it back over her shoulder. 

“She moves to New York and all of a sudden she’s the fashion expert.” Ava snorts, sweeping her hand to flip a page.

“I was always the fashion expert, love.” Desiree sends a sly wink in Ava’s direction, to which she receives an exaggerated eye roll. Lily giggles and shakes her head.

“Behave, kids.” Lucas chides. The smile on his face gives him away as they pass the “Welcome to Westchester!” sign.

“Yes! Finally,” Andy huffs, sitting up in his seat, “I thought I was going to lose my mind.”

“We were only two hours out, silly!” Stacy grins as she reaches to ruffle his hair. She isn’t quick enough and Andy lightly smacks her hand down before she gets close.

“‘Only two hours?’ Are you nuts?” Andy whines. 

Stacy chuckles and her jaw drops when she looks out of the window because holy shit, are you guys seeing this? The van stops and everyone darts for the nearest window and then, like clockwork, their jaws have dropped, too. 

On a typical sunny Saturday, the streets of the town plaza are full of life. Children run around the park bench trees giddily as their parents pull them toward the ice cream shop, teens walk around with shopping bags on their arms and cars blast their music as they careen down the busy streets.

But today, a day just like that one, the streets are barren. In fact, the entire square looks like it’s been void of human activity for days. Missing signs stapled to trees are the only indication that anyone has ever been here at all. 

“What the fuck did we miss?” Desiree murmured. 

“A health crisis, apparently,” Lily shuddered. “‘Westchester has declared a health emergency as 25% of the population have been infected with an unidentified virus. The mayor urges all of the citizens to find somewhere else to stay until the issue is under control.’ What the hell does she mean, ‘find somewhere else to stay?’”

“I don’t know, but my flight leaves tomorrow night and I’m not sticking around for whatever bullshit Westchester has going on today.” Desiree huffs. 

“How is there a potentially dangerous virus going around and your mom hasn’t said anything to you about it?” Dan asked. Stacy glowered at the question, but eventually, let out a sigh.

“I was wondering the exact same thing.” 

“The hell are we gonna do now?” Ava grumbled, leaning back her in her seat.

“My place is the closest,” Andy volunteers, ”We can all crash there until everyone leaves tomorrow.”

A general murmur of agreement and gratitude falls over the group as Andy takes the wheel. The jovial atmosphere is gone with Ava’s question hanging over their heads: What the hell were they gonna do now?

Once they get to Andy’s place, Lucas, Ava, Lily, and Dan all leave to head to their own homes. Stacy and Desirée set their luggage in the living room and the three of them make conversation, trying to ignore the news they’ve just received. 

Sometime in the early morning, Desiree feels a nudging in her side.

“Hey, I’m heading out,” Stacy whispers. The tired girl nods as they embrace quickly and wish each other well before Stacy rushes out of the door.

The bedroom door opens and Andy trudges out, yawning. “Did I miss Stacy?”

Desiree nods and opens her mouth to say more to say something, but the next words out of the early morning news anchor’s mouth make her blood run cold.

“The state has issued a quarantine on Westchester County. Everyone who has entered or exited the town within the past 7 days must stay in their homes. All travel to or from Westchester County has been banned indefinitely.”

Best of Marvel: Week of July 24th, 2019

Best of this Week: House of X #1 - Jonathan Hickman, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia and Clayton Cowles

“You have new Gods now.” - Erik Lehnsherr, 2019

The new era of X-Men is here and for all of its familiarity, it does something new and sort of unsettling with a tried and true formula. This is thanks to the beauty and scale of Larraz’s art and the far and wide nature with which Jonathan Hickman is crafting yet another saga to rival both his SHIELD and Avengers runs. If you let it, House of X will engulf you in a rich new mutant world filled with happiness and untold amounts of pride by it end, but also with a good helping of fear… as if everything is just a little bit off.

The book begins with a great wide shot of a figure staring up at what appears to be the root of or at least some important part of a tree. Two other figures, a woman with red hair and a man with glowing eyes, are birthed from two sacs under the tree and we get the familiar line, “To me, my X-Men. Presumably, this is Charles Xavier and as we progress, this idea is made clear as it seems we are doing away with the “X” identity he took up during Astonishing X-Men (2018). This also serves as some clear symbolism of a new rebirth for the X-Men.

Over the next few panels, we are shown shots of various X-Men planting flowers, plucked from the island of Krakoa, in various areas from their home in Westchester, New York to Mars, the moon and the Savage Land. The book is then framed around Magneto and two of the Stepford Cuckoos giving ambassadors from various countries a tour of the various locales that Krakoa has been placed upon as they ponder Charles’ proposed deal. This deal would allow them to make use of the flowers of Krakoa for various medicinal purposes, possibly making the world a much better place, so long as they agree to recognizing the sovereignty of the Krakoa nation state. A new Haven for Mutantkind.

Of course there have been such efforts made in the past. Genosha, the first and most prominently mentioned example, is alluded to have been the catalyst for humankind not being taken over by the mutant X gene. Mutantkind apparently would have become the dominant race on the planet Earth within ten years if not for Genosha’s destruction. Asteroid M and Utopia weren’t mentioned, but my guess is that they simply weren’t as impactful in regard to mutant kind likely because of the events of House of M (2005) dwindling their numbers to nothing. As it stands now, after the implementation of Krakoa spiking the birth rates to much higher than previously calculated, that humanity has about 20 years left.

These estimations are made by a brand new organization known as The Orchis Protocol, a network built for the purpose of monitoring evolutionary anomalies and preparing a doomsday protocol in case humanity is threatened by Homo Superior. The organization apparently consists of ex assets from practically all major organizations in the Marvel Universe from AIM, SHIELD and Hydra to even Hammer, Alpha Flight and SWORD. Some of Larraz’s best shots are in the scenes where we’re introduced to this mysterious group. They pilot a ship towards the sun and we get a good shot of the outside of a portion of their space station as they dock their ship.

Karima, an Omega Sentinel character that hasn’t been seen since sometime after Second Coming (2010) accompanies an Orchis higher up as they talk about the state of absolutely giant station so close to the sun. We get a bit of a tour before we get the best and most ominous shot of the full station. It appears to be the head of MASTER MOLD surrounded by hexagonal plates, the most terrifying shape in all of fiction. Master Mold hasn’t been really seen since about 1994, and again in 2010 because of universe jump in Second Coming. Master Mold was one of the X-Men’s most dangerous threats for it ability to produce sentinels at a rapid rate, so there’s no way that this can mean anything good.

Cutting back to New York, Mystique, Sabretooth and Toad are stealing information from the Damage Control Database. Mystique and Toad manage to get away, but Creed is captured by Invisible Woman and the rest of the Fantastic Four. Scott Summers shows up to remind them of the amnesty that’s apparently been granted to mutants, including thieves and possible killers like Sabretooth. Scott and, normally even tempered, Reed butt heads a little bit as Reed has a problem with Sabretooth getting away with his crimes and Scott acquiesces, seeing that Reed is serious. Scott does leave them with one sick burn as he tells Reed and Sue that Franklin has actual family on Krakoa when he’s ready.

What I love best about this scene is just how smug Reed is about all of this. For years, mutants have tried to stay out of the affairs of the greater Superhero world out of fear for their reputations. The shoe is on the other foot now that they have all of the leverage and the power that they so deserve. Even more awesomely, Scott’s new costume is a fantastic design combining the best of his Astonishing costume with the angular design of his Uncanny X-Men costume, minus the X mask, with blue lines instead of red.

Speaking of colors, Marte Garcia excelled in this regard. There’s so much symbolism to be gleaned from something as simple as a color change. Cyclops wore that suit in a red hue when he was a violent radical; having it recolored blue gives off the hint that he’s still a radical, but in the way that he dealt with the situation between Reed, he’s more hands off, non-violent even. Magneto normally wears red and purple when he’s angry and evil and gray during the AXIS (2015) era and that alluded to his anti-hero nature during that time. This go around he’s wearing white. He’s also peaceful, but at the same time he’s as graceful and imposing as he always has been, never betraying the idea that he is still the same man, but won’t harm anyone as long as they respect mutants. The most glaring example is the change in color from the AIM scientists where they’re wearing red instead of yellow.

In between each different scene we’re given these little interludes in the form of documents called Xavier files. These give some background on the new elements introduced in the book and the best one is the Omega Level file. There have been hundreds of mutants introduced over the years, many of which could have been considered Omega Level mutants, but thanks to Hickman’s expert writing, things have been parsed down to just fourteen. On Twitter, he stated that the X-Men lore was nothing but chaos, so he wrote a 14,000 word memo on what the new status quo would be, including limiting the use of the term “Omega Level.” This undoubtedly helps to establish something of a power structure given the high number of mutants that are known about while also acknowledging other heroes. Notably, while Forge is a master of technopathy, his level has been surpassed by humans in the past, but Magneto is the only master of Magnetism.

I want to bring things back to the tour. After it is over, several of the ambassadors agree to support Xavier. Russia’s ambassador never had intentions too, neither did one of the representatives of STRIKE as he was simply assigned to watch another ambassador. The last ambassador had a weapon hidden and Magneto immediately dismantles it and promises to each of them that things will be different. He wants them to tell their superiors that while Charles made the offer out of grace and love, it is NOT a negotiation.

Magneto takes pride in this. So much so that his assurance and steadfastness in his stance is powerful. It moved me. He tells them to be grateful for the bounty they’re receiving out of graciousness as mutants, like Thanos, are inevitable. It’s like he can actually see a future, one not shrouded in darkness for mutants and he’s smiling because he knows it’s coming.

This is one of the more interesting aspects of the book. Charles Xavier had always wanted to coexist with humanity, but after years of divisions and attacks, he seems to mostly be done with that. He’s willing to give humanity Krakoa’s flowers to make pills that will help them as long as they leave mutants alone. He’s effectively made something that will definitely topple the pharmaceutical market and he has to know that humanity would start to get very afraid. Not only that, but Krakoa has the ability to create portals that can move mutants from place to place without humans being able to track where they’re going. Of course the ambassadors are afraid of the use they could have as far as movement and positioning in case things went to war, but Magneto assures them that it is only them that wants war.

Everything seems perfect. Everything seems like it’s going to be alright, but that helmet… something about that helmet and the bodysuit reminds me of The Maker, another Jonathan Hickman creation from his turn on The Ultimates. It scares me and I needed that, I needed something to keep me hooked and the fear that everything is not as it seems is just that.

House of X hit the ground running. While it does little to acknowledge the fantastic Uncanny X-Men run from Matthew Rosenberg, that’s probably for the best. Jonathan Hickman does his best work when he has a fresh slate. He took over Avengers from Brian Michael Bendis and made an amazing story over the course of nearly four years. He reinvigorated SHIELD and the Fantastic Four with innovative stories that had nothing to do with the books prior to them. Hell, the reverberations of his runs on each of these are still being felt to this day.

Pepe Larraz was possibly the absolute best artist to capture Hickman’s vision for this project. His high angles and wide shots give credence to the size of the story. His facial expressions give into the idea that mutants have won this time, there’s hope where previously there was none. Body language surprisingly upbeat, bouncy even. There’s a lot to say about symbolism in terms of sun positioning in many scenes. The book has many showing the sun rising, symbolically showing a rise for the mutants. I see Orchis base near the sun as an allegory for Icarus flying too close to it. As the book ends with a sunset over Jerusalem, I see things as the sun setting on the time of humanity.

X-Men and their vast history is absolutely ripe for fine tuning if not complete destruction only for it to be made bigger and better in the years to come. I have no idea where this story is going and with 80,000 spin-offs incoming with a bunch of different creative teams, there will absolutely be something for everyone. In an attempt to revitalize a part of the world that used to sell like gangbusters, Jonathan Hickman is gearing up to shoot the X-Men right back up to the moon and light the world on fire behind them.

THE CUSTOM-BUILT Mercedes stopped outside the Moonies’ Georgian mansion in Hearst Street, [Berkeley]. Two huge Korean bodyguards climbed out and surveyed the scene. Then satisfied that all was safe, they escorted Dr Mose Durst and his wife Onni up the steps of the mansion. Durst was looking very dapper in an expensive powder-blue suit with matching shoes, but it was his Korean wife who caught the eye. She was wearing a fabulous white fur coat which contrasted with her shoulder-length silky black hair, and as she held up her hands, diamonds and rubies glittered under the lights.

They took off their shoes in the hall and donned golden slippers. As they walked into the lecture room, arm in arm, we all chorused, ‘Oh, Onni and Abba, thank Heavenly Father for your goodness in guiding us.’ Onni is Korean for Elder Sister; and Abba for Father.

They smiled and nodded in the manner of an emperor and empress; and in this company, that’s what they were. Durst was the President of the Unification Church and perhaps a bit more besides. For now that the Reverend Moon had retreated to his Tarrytown mansion in Westchester County, Durst was beginning to emerge as the movement’s new star. The Moonies, under fire from the media, wanted a fresh image and Durst, the amiable professor of English with his jokey Jewish ways, fitted that image rather well. It was Onni who had first seen the possibilities in this mild-mannered man. She charmed him, wooed him, married him and groomed him for power. And according to the Moonies who lived in the Dursts’ Avalon mansion, it was still Onni who controlled him.

Mose (pronounced Mosa) is the son of Russian immigrants and grew up in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of the City University of New York and a graduate fellow of Cambridge University. And up until 1972, he was a professor of English at Laney College in Oakland, California ... a lonely, disillusioned man who had just been divorced, retaining custody of his two sons, Tinker and Tim. That was the year when one of his students (a Moonie convert) invited him to dinner at the house of Onni Soo Lim, the supposed founder of the Unification Church on the West Coast. Onni was then at the peak of her beauty, a very exotic lady, and the college professor was seemingly overwhelmed. They were married two months later in a special Korean wedding ceremony performed by Moon. That break in the normal pattern of the Church is an indication of the importance of Onni and also of their plans for Durst. A professor was a considerable catch for the Moonies and his rise was rapid. He became state director of the Moonies in North California and then the Church’s President.

It was an odd boardroom shuffle, because the Moonies already had a president named Neil Salonen who was very close to Moon. So one had to assume that the factions behind Durst were powerful ones indeed.

His plump face, bifocals and easy laugh gave him a fatherly look. He was a sentimental man, easily moved to tears, and much loved by the rank and file members. His college background gave him a certain kinship with many of the new recruits who had come from the campus. And he always seemed that bit more subject to human frailty than the other Moonie leaders. There was, for instance, his habit of raiding the kitchen for cookies in the early hours of the morning, a habit frowned upon in the Church. Any food taken before noon is said to encourage Satan. By some ill chance Durst always seemed to be bumping into somebody else also hunting for cookies in the dark. But there were never angry reproaches, only laughter.

He was fond of singing the songs of the Thirties and he would croon them in the style of a latter-day Bing Crosby. Sometimes on special occasions he would dance while a fiddler played and then he could look very Jewish, very amusing. The Divine Principle preaches the message that the Jews betrayed Jesus and this is why Korea has become the new Holy Land. And Moon has frequently been accused of being anti-semitic. But Durst made no attempt to hide his Jewish background. On the contrary, he sprinkled his conversation with Yiddish. Somebody would be meshuga (crazy), somebody else schlemiel (a jerk) and most of his jokes were Jewish too. He was an easy man to like and the media soon discovered that too. He handled them with a smooth, relaxed, professional expertise that paid dividends.

‘Hey,’ he said to one reporter, ‘we’re just like the rest of the crowd. We don’t eat babies and sleep on nails.’ When asked about the Moonies’ dream of a perfect world, he said, ‘It won’t be all that much different to the one we have now.

‘The sun will still rise in the morning and set in the evening. It will still be a place where the Yankees can win the pennant and Reggie Jackson can hit home runs. When he’d finished he sang ‘Only For You’ which we knew to be one of his favourite songs. He sang it in the manner of a poor man’s Frank Sinatra; and all the sisters clutched their hearts, sighed and even squealed just like the bobbysoxers we’d seen in the old newsreels. He was so delighted that he thought of doing an encore, then changed his mind and it wasn’t hard to see the reason why.

A New Flame Ch. 2 (Avengers x POC!OC)

Summary: After getting captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., Madison gets interrogated by Agent Coulson. The interrogation starts off rocky and ends off with more questions than answers.

A/N: I'm really bad at this, so I apologize if the characters dialogue don't match up with their personality as presented on screen. I tried my hardest with this and revised most of the quotes, several times, before posting. Enjoy this chapter and I'd love your criticsm! Keep it constructive please!

Chapter 2

Madison stirs awake. Her dazed hazel eyes flutter and her pupils strain when a bright light is shined above her. Once her vision clears she sees that she's looking up at a white ceiling. ‘What?’ she asks herself. She turns her head to her right and she sees a glass wall. To the left is the same. She lifts her head and once again a glass barrier. The woman jerks her body but she's subdued by thick straps holding her down.

“Hng,” She struggles against the restraints. Her efforts were pointless.

Her next plan was to use her fire powers to burn away the straps however she was unable to. She balled her hands into fists, clenched her jaw and squeezed her eyes shut to focus. Nothing. Not even a flicker. She snarls, opening her eyes and then screaming.

“Hello,” A man's voice appears and the bed she's on tilts at an angle so she's laying upright. Behind the glass is a man wearing a black and white suit. He was an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson. “How are you?”

Madison narrows her eyes at the man, scowling at him. She doesn't respond to his question though.

In a different location in the compound the Avengers sit together and watch the interrogation between Madison and Coulson on an holographic screen. Steve, Natasha, Tony, and Wanda sit at the conference table; Clint stands nearby the door his arms folded, leaning on the wall. Coulson could be seen pacing leisurely from left to right as he tries to get Madison to talk.

The female prisoner is stubborn, adamant to not speaking to Coulson. He takes short steps towards the incubator. Coulson then asks, “Who are you?” she repeats the question back to him. “I think I asked who you were. Now just tell me and maybe I'll upgrade your incubator to a cell.”

Madison replies, “I am a member of H.Y.D.R.A.”

“What kind of member?” presses Coulson.

She chuckles, smiling wickedly, she licks her lips. “Isn't it obvious?”

Coulson shrugs his shoulders. His hands behind his back as he paces to the right. “I don't know. I require for you to clarify things… describe them in specific detail.” He looks at her, “Now again: what kind of member are you?”

“I'm a weapon alright?” Madison snaps at him. She continues harshly verbalizing her words. “I'm H.Y.D.R.A.’s ultimate and latest tool to destruction and the extinction of the Avengers.”

The Avengers tense up in their seats and their faces harden. Steve slouches back in his chair, tilting his head to the side and sharply watches.

“The extinction of the Avengers?” Coulson questioningly reiterated. “Is that why H.Y.D.R.A. sent you along with 50 other soldiers to the institute?”

Madison’s blank gaze hardens and she snarls, “We were sent there to acquire the serum and return to base. Your group of “heroes” coincidentally were there.”

Coulson countered, “You're damn right they were.” He folds his arms. “We sent them there to stop people like you from ruining this world with your fascist ethics.” He unfolds his arms and crosses them. “One more thing before I leave you here. What exactly is H.Y.D.R.A.’s plan?”

She pauses briefly and then calmly asks. “Why do you want to know?”

“Because it's my job to know things. I'm an agent sweetheart.”

Madison tilts her head back, smirking and closes her eyes. “Good luck getting it out of me, because I will never tell you.”

Coulson claps his hands together, “Okay that's all I need.” He heads towards to the exit.

“That's correct ‘agent.’” Madison says.

He leaves the area just as Madison chants maniacally in Russian, “Death to the Avengers. A red sun will rise. Hail to H.Y.D.R.A.” The young woman then cackles sinisterly, her high pitched crazed laughter echoing in the conference room. Everyone in it sat or stood uncomfortably until the video turns off and the projector screen closes. The Avengers turn their heads away.

Breaking the edgy ambience was Tony. He humorously stated, “You know to be a weapon of H.Y.D.R.A. -- she's actually attractive. If she wasn't so intent on killing us all.” He reclined in his seat, propping his feet on the table, and arms behind his head.

Natasha sighed, her fingers combing through her red hair. “She's hiding something from us that H.Y.D.R.A. doesn't want us to know.

Steve looks at her and asks, “Do you know what that could be?”

She shakes her head, “Not yet.”

“Whatever it is H.Y.D.R.A.’s plotting it ain't gonna be a walk in the park for us.” Fury entered the room, holding a file in his hand.

Steve replies to him, “When is it never a walk in the park for us Fury?”

Fury answers, “Whenever one of you retires.”

Clint scoffs, “I called it but got called right back in.” He mutters.

The director tosses a file on the table, it skids then halts on the center. Natasha reaches for it, and opens the manila folder. “What is this?”

“This is the information we got on her.”

Natasha opened the file, and Steve shifts to sit beside her to read it as well. The rest listen in as Fury explains. “Her name is Madison Faye Jones. She's a mutant. When she was a child, she had the power of pyrokinesis. An ability to fly, her body is a damage shield, she can absorb heat and resist it.”

Tony mused, “This kid is no joke.”

“No she's not. She can also fight hand to hand, expert tactician, expert martial artist, and expert marksman and mastery of weaponry.

Natasha uttered, “Her abilities are the same as mine.” She looks at Fury.

He commented, “Exact and better.”

Steve was appalled, “Better?” he repeated. “Better than Romanoff?”

Clint heartily laughs, “That's scary.”

Ignoring their jabs at her capabilities, Natasha read off from the paper. “It says here she was a student at Xavier Institute. That's a school for mutants to manage their powers.”

Steve inquires, “Where is it at?”

“1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center, Westchester County, New York.” answered Tony. “Plenty of young mutants go there. That place is like a haven to them.”

“Why? I don't understand---”

Natasha explains, “Mutants go there because years ago the world was against them. People wanted them locked away or dead. Others wanted nothing but protection for them. Professor Xavier, or X, created the school for what he called them “gifted” students. Soon over hundreds of them came enrolling in.”

Fury says, “Including her. Until H.Y.D.R.A. got a hold of her, now the girl's mind is far gone.”

Natasha asks, “If her mind is far gone then why do we have her here?”

“We're keeping her from destroying countries and assisting H.Y.D.R.A.” answered Steve.

“Yeah like how we're keeping his buddy hostage too except he's in the tower.” Tony mentioned.

Steve looked at Tony bitterly. The man takes a bite out of a granola bar, glaring back at Steve just as sour.

“You guys-” Natasha started.

“Shoulda kept Buck-a-roo in the ice.” Tony quipped.

Steve retorted, “You shut your mouth Tony.”

“Make me Captain Assface.”

“Gentlemen.” Fury barked out. Both men eased in their seats. “We are dealing with something greater than personal wounds. If you two are going to sit here and argue like a bunch of little damn girls then trade your uniforms in for some tutus.” The director shakes his head at the two men.

When the two men stop bickering, Fury explains that the decision is to keep Madison in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody until they figure out what H.Y.D.R.A. wanted with the serum. The meeting is called off and the Avengers leave from the compound back to the tower.

At the tower, Wanda tells Vision of their mission in Arizona. The android congratulates them for stopping the enemy from running off with the serum. Wanda thanks him, but her face becomes sullen.

Vision senses Wanda’s sudden change in character and places a hand on her shoulder. “Is there something bothering you Wanda?”

The teenager purses her lips, her eyes looking down at the can of soda in her hand. “The woman that we fought today… I got inside of her head and I saw her nightmare. Hers it was the scariest thing I had ever seen.” Vision stayed quiet for her to explain to him. “She was a young girl, probably eight years old, and she was trapped in a bedroom engulfed in flames. She was crying, screaming, and pleading for help. Her family had been killed in the fire she caused. Then it showed me when she was recruited by H.Y.D.R.A. ... those men. They brainwashed her, similar to that Bucky. I could hear their voices say ‘You will be a weapon of mass-destruction. A great step into the extinction of the Avengers.’”

“I see.” Vision replied. “I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. The woman should have a chance to redeem herself of her actions. Actions that she did not completely agree to nor knew of.”

Wanda laid her head on Vision’s shoulder. “She is a broken girl. She's misunderstood. She is,”

“In pain.” Vision concluded.

The investigators are reportedly looking into exactly where everyone was sitting at the time of the collision.

“They have their means of matching everything up with injuries sustained by people [and] what caused the injuries puts them where they were seated,” Scali added. “If (charges are) warranted, the only way to get there is getting everything completed.”
