TK feels like he’s been asked to do a very complicated equation. “You want Carlos to invite me to his older sister’s wedding, so you can go to the wedding with his younger sister?” Elijah swallows. “Effectively, yes.” “Yeah, that was way more complicated than it needed to be,” Paul adds. “You really need to work on summarising.” “Will you do it?” Elijah asks TK hopefully, ignoring Paul. TK shakes his head. “How the fuck am I going to get Carlos Reyes, a guy who – by your own admission – isn’t looking to date anyone, to invite me to his sister’s wedding? Is he even out to his parents? You said that they’re very traditional.” “Yeah, he is,” Elijah nods. “Apparently they just don’t talk about it much, but they’re a really nice family. Look, as I said, I can pay you—” TK’s face must betray something bordering on disgust, because Elijah immediately stops talking. “Look man, I don’t need money to flirt with a hot guy in my class,” TK admits. “I’ll consider it because I’m bored and Carlos doesn’t sound interested in dating, but if something starts to feel off, I’m not pushing it. The guy doesn’t deserve to get played, especially if he’s not even fully out.” “So you’ll do it?” Elijah repeats hopefully, his eyes bright. “I never actually thought this would work, but—” “I said I’d consider it,” TK retorts. “No promises. Also, you can leave now.” “Right, sure,” Elijah stammers. “Uh— Just, text me? Oh wait, you don’t have my number.” “Don’t need it,” TK replies, sliding past Elijah and opening the door, before practically pushing him out into the hallway. “You’re familiar with smoke signals, I assume? Carrier pigeons? Two tin cans with a cord?” “What—” TK shuts the door abruptly, before turning around to find Paul gazing back at him with an infuriating smirk on his face. "You're actually going to do this?" he asks, his eyebrows halfway up his forehead. "Not planning on it," TK admits. "Although I have a strong interest in—”
“Oh, I see,” Paul says slowly, his expression wicked. “This Carlos guy is hot.” TK sighs. “You have no idea.”

Hii, what's your favourite rendition of the joker?
ok this is basic of me but heath ledger joker reigns supreme.
he's got just enough classic joker and everything cool and engaging about what modern jokers are trying (and failing) to accomplish wrapped up into one
hes got classic props like the playing cards and the purple suit to name a few, but hes also got the grime and grunge and overall edginess new jokers are trying for.
he brought something new and interesting without a total rewrite and reinvention of the character, in a way that kept his basic traits and general essence, motives, character (surprising to think we need to remind people about that)
he kept the important aspects and explored the new ones in a way that was compliant with his roots

I did it!! I finally finished my portrait. I'm not completely happy with it, I might have added a few more details. But I leave it as it is. I think you can tell it's J in his police disguise. Officer J, hehe.

Wilbur sd finished digging out a shallow grave, big enough for a shoe box to get covered by a few inches of dirt, but not much else. They gently grab a small box from their left, putting it into the hole. A tear is shed as Ham finally gets into his eternal resting place, far away from Quackity and Comma.
The Sketchers shoebox was filled with a few of Ham's favorite things. A scrubdaddy sponge, the knife he was killed with, some fruit and vegetables, his Petco receipt, and more. Everything that he will need to get revenge just in case the zombie apocalypse happens and revives him. Although that may not be possible, as Ham's body was still nowhere to be found.
Sobs racked Wilbur sd's body as they used their garden trowel to cover up the small grave, putting slightly more dirt than necessary so there was a small mound.
Finally, as the last step of this process, they reach into their pocket and pull out a comically small headstone. They stab it into the ground with little grace before they finally step back to look at the miniature cenotaph.
The stone reads as follows:
R.I.P Ham </3
beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and doctor.
Wilbur sd decided it was best to leave now. They barely glanced at the Mc Donald's as they walked away from the grave.
-Wilbur Semi Defender anon
I miss Ham guys
Guess I should cancel those chicken plans then, huh? 😅

Ohhhhh I’ve never even heard of Batman forever!! But he does look fiiiiiineee I know what my new hyperfixation is going to be, I’m so serious. It’s so hard to keep track of all the different variations of Batman 😭😭
A handy-dandy guide to all the (live-action, cinematic) Batmen
Tim Burton’s Batman
Batman (1989) - played by Micheal Keaton
Batman Returns (1992) - played by Michael Keaton
The originals; beloved and nostalgic for a lot of people. Took Batman from kinda goofy and kiddish in the media, put some darker tones on screen. A little basic thematically and cinematically by today’s standards and doesn’t follow now well-know parts of the character - batman kills in these movies for instance. Still iconic soundtrack by Prince.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joel Schumacher’s (RIP🙏🏾) Batman
Batman Forever (1995) - played by Val Kilmer
Batman and Robin (1997) - played by George Clooney
While technically, in the same universe, as the Tim Burton movies, after Batman Returns, was criticized for being too dark for child audiences of the time, Joel Schumacher was bought in. And with a very gay 80s director, came Batman movies that were universally panned for being overblown, camp, and childish. They still get clowned and memed on today, but they’re cult classics now though thanks to some pretty popular, YouTube reviews that reveal a lot about their story and production history - Batman Forever is my favorite of all of them. Also, great theme song: Kiss from a Rose by Seal.
Sidenote: the only movies to feature Batgirl and Robin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christopher Nolan’s Batman
Batman Begins (2005) - played by Christian Bale
The Dark Knight (2008) - played by Christian Bale
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - played by Christian Bale
The big ones. The Nolan Trilogy. Definitely the most popular. Brought the character back from its then camp and admonished reputation by making it a lot darker, a lot grittier and a lot more realistic. Being the first Batman to use digital cameras and having an Academy Award winning performance by the late great Heath Ledger as the Joker made these movies insanely loved. If you weren’t there, I can’t even explain to you how big they were.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zack Snyder’s Batman (aka DCEU)
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), Justice League (2017), Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021), The Flash (2023)
all played by Ben Affleck
Don’t think about it. I hate it. We’re moving on.
Matt Reeves’ Batman
The Batman (2022) - played by Robert Pattinson
The most recent, incredibly critically acclaimed, the first good Batman in a decade. My second favorite of all of them. Somehow, even darker, grittier and more realistic than the Nolan trilogy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS:
Kevin Conroy’s Batman
The actor responsible for voice acting Batman in basically every piece of animation from the 90s to about the 2010s. Beloved by all, may he rest in peace.
Tumblr media
Adam West’s Batman
The campy 60s show. It’s silly, but it still has the best Catwoman and the scene where Adam West has to play Bruce Wayne calling Batman on the phone is criminally good acting. Again, rest in peace.

It's so interesting that the last cycle of nakshatra from (Mula to Revati) lie in the signs ruled heavy & slow moving outer planets Jupiter & Saturn. Starting from Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius & ending in Pisces. The planetary nature of nakshatras attains maturity under them.
This makes Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra an extremely critical nakshatra, especially in terms of spiritual progress because it is ruled by both heavy planets Jupiter and Saturn. Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra is ruled by Aja Ekapada, one of the forms of Rudra. There in total 11 rudras born to Goddess Aditi.
Both in Ardra & Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatras, one will notice Rudra energies. We see a mature form of Shiva, the divine masculine. In Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra, Jupiter reaches its maturity.
In this thread further I will discuss about the nature of Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra. In my personal opinion, natives of this placement share a lot of similarities with lord Shiva (bcz of Rudra connection). Most of them are extremely generous to a fault.
Lord Shiva is known to be the most generous God granting boons to people who worship him. He is always surrounded by snakes and different forms of ghosts. Snakes are yin beings are attracted to Shiva is the ultimate yang form. Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra natives have strong yang due to Jupiter. Another aspect of Purva Bhadra Pada natives is that they resist spending much on their themselves, their homes or lifestyle. While they are extremely successful in the material world accumulate lot of wealth due to Jupiter influence. But like Shiva, chose to give away generously.
One of the symbols of Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra is a man with two faces. This is best depicted through the character in the Dark Knight movie, Two-Face. It was played by Purva Bhadra Pada nakshatra Sun Aaron Eckhart.
In the beginning, he was "Harvey Dent" who was viewed by everyone in Gotham, including Bruce Wayne, played by Christian Bale (Shravana Sun; Vishnu Symbolism) as a shining beacon of hope and goodness. He changes after his traumatic loss of his beloved Rachel in the movie.
This is similar to the story of Shiva who became furious after losing his first wife Sati. Most Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra undergo major transformation in their lives. As I have mentioned before Saturn adds a lot of trauma and challenges in the lives of Aquarius & Capricorn moon, especially emotional.
But in the Dark Knight movie, Dent's dark side is protected for the public. Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra have a strong humanitarian nature & are quite popular in public due to their wisdom & generosity. But their dark side is often protected. Sometimes people who are aware of their darkness, protect it.
I love the interplay between Batman (played by Shravana Sun), Two Face(played by PBP Sun) Aaron Eckhart and Joker (played by Revati sun) Heath Ledger. It shows the interplay between the last three signs of Capricorn, Aquarius & Pisces.
Another good example of Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra is Purva Bhadra Pada Sun native Jon Hamm's character in Mad Men. Don Draper had a traumatic past and sad childhood which he carefully hid beneath his charming and successful personality. Few people knew of his other side, his other face.

Hi! Do you have any romcom (movie) recs? I feel like i hypothetically like the genre, but have a lot of trouble finding ones i enjoy. So many romcoms feel so formulaic (in a dead way) and misogynistic and stale to me. I think they’re a lot easier to do well in the context of a series because there’s actually time to build. Recently i thought rye lane and fire island were fun. I like kdramas when i have the time for all the episodes because i appreciate the build. I need chemistry— people who both convincingly like each other and seem like actual human beings. I thought you might have some good ideas! Thanks <3
HELLO LARGE VOICED ANON <3
I hope you weren't waiting on my recs all day haha i have been. hm. hungover af <3 (i'm going to leave kdramas off this list for now but if you would like specific recs for kdrama romcoms send me another ask and i can try to do them justice!)
I think this is a genre with underrated range! So one thing that I find very interesting about the genre of romcoms is that I think there tends to be a split between romcoms whose goal is, like, to be a fun lighthearted movie with a central romance, vs romcoms whose goal is to Say Something About Love in the vehicle of a funny movie. Both of these categories are represented on this list but for giggles i will not be saying which i think are which <3
anyway recs under the cut <3 i will link my tags for these movies if you want to take a look but be warned for spoilers ofc
I think for your purposes my primary rec would be Lovesick (aka Scrotal Recall). It's a (short) tv show so it would likely give you the chance to get to know the characters and see a slower build. In contrast to the frustration you've had with some more "formulaic" romcoms the writing in this show is very deliberately in conversation with romcoms of the past. Also it's just one of my favorite romcoms ever made so I rec it to everyone. The premise is that a young man, Dylan, is diagnosed with chlamydia and instructed to tell his past partners. Being a hopeless romantic (emphasis on hopeless), he decides to try to turn this into an opportunity to revisit relationships that didn't work out, and try to figure out where he's been going wrong. Two simultaneous storylines play out in each episode, the flashbacks to the exes (and breakups) and the present, where Dylan's best friend is getting married.
Older romcoms: When Harry Met Sally (ive heard this is divisive? but idc its SO funny and so well made), Moonstruck (a romantic-comedy in the operatic sense. also cher <3), The Philadelphia Story (katharine hepburn the woman u r. tw for a classic 1940s gag about punching ur wife in the face), Bringing Up Baby (screwball comedy my beloved), Roman Holiday (audrey hepburn is lethally charming in this movie), Dirty Dancing (someday ill write something this good and then You Will Realize), Much Ado About Nothing (i tend to enjoy either the danielle brooks shakespeare in the park version or the classic tennant/tate combo)
Teen romcoms: 10 things I hate about you (young heath ledger and young julia stiles ur welcome), to all the boys i;ve loved before (lana condor is ADORABLE), The Half of It (my other favorite sort-of romcom of the decade)
More recent-ish: Speed (like its keanu and sandra what more do you want), Strictly Ballroom (i used to watch this literally weekly as a child and I WAS RIGHT TO), Miss Congeniality (sandra bullock what u did for us all <3), Fire Island (thank u 4 my LYFE), The sandra bullock/channing tatum movie that came out last year (i forget what its called but he's so funny in it), Mamma Mia AND Mamma Mia Here We Go Again (beautiful greek islands, abba, cher, what more can you ask for?)
Indian/bollywood: Jab We Met (after dramatically quitting his job, Local Man somehow ends up escorting a woman he meets on the train while she attempts to elope with her boyfriend. aka classic screwball comedy heroine and Guy She Dragged Along For The Ride), khabie khushi khabi gham (multiple generations of romance and family drama featuring Kajol, the Most Beautiful Woman In the World), Band Baaja Baaraat (two wedding planners fall in love--great choice if you want to watch idiots ambushed by their feelings)
Other tv recs: Selfie (john cho and karen gillian in a show canceled far too soon)

a thing i read years ago that has stayed with me to a maybe weirdly significant degree was in sars of tomato nation's review of the dark knight, where she said something to the effect of, "i know it sounds weird to call heath ledger's performance understated, but that's what it is: he's playing this very extreme character, but he's not doing anything more than exactly what the role calls for." i think she was right about ledger, who did IMO strike a really incredible and rare balance of compelling playing an over the top character without giving an over the top performance, which i think is why his turn in that movie remains one of extremely few comic book movie villains that bring both fun and genuine menace to the proceedings, and i also return every so often to the concept behind her description: that just because the piece needs a lot doesn't mean your goal should be to do a lot. your goal should be to do what's needed, always. (paging, for the millionth time, leo dicaprio in every movie he's made after catch me if you can.) and, obviously, i've been thinking about it again now in the context of the back half missions impossible, not so much in terms of acting (although from ghost protocol on i d think tom cruise finds an understated world-weariness to ethan that is very compelling to watch, and much more "humanizing" than all the random hot ladies getting tortured jj abrams could ever throw into his life), but in the way that they are so maximalist in terms of content and some elements of execution - we are climbing the tallest skyscraper in the world, we are hanging off the side of a plane, we are jumping OUT of a plane, every single thing about the fucking helicopter sequence, and we are doing this all for real because tom cruise is a psychopath who can only derive meaning for his life from trying his hardest to die on camera - but in the delivery of it, they are... again, understated isn't quite the word i'd use, but - closer to that than to a lot of other ways they could go. (closer to that than they are to my also beloved MI2, for example. lol.) these movies exist in order to do insane things, but they show you the insane things happening in a way that feels in the moment like this is the least insane way it could have happened, even though it was obviously constructed to be this insane on purpose, both in the physical set-ups of the stunts and in the escalating jenga towers of setbacks and obstacles that are their plots ("plots"). i think maybe the idea i'm circling around or the phrase i want is something like: they're not trying to sell themselves. they're just doing very awesome things and politely inviting you to watch. i mean, the climax of fallout is like 700 insane high-octane things happening all at once, and i can't tell you how much i fucking love that we don't see the moment ethan finally saves the day: countdown, fade to white, and he spits the thingy out of his mouth. it's the thing, like THE thing, this entire sequence has been most about, the absolute most logical action climax of both this run and the entire movie, and we don't even watch him do that. what a great fucking choice. i don't know why i love that so much, but i do.

a lil snippet from the broom-averse guide to magical methods of transportation:
"How'd it happen?" He asks, touching his canine with the tip of a finger. "This."
She’d practiced telling the story. Not in the mirror or anything, but under her breath. Sifted through the words like she was choosing the ripest produce at a supermarket instead of what she was really doing, which was trying to tell a story in which she does not play the fool.
"Purchased from a Spirit Halloween," she says.
Weasley's furrowed brow tells her he hasn't spent an October in America.
Pansy tries a different tack.
"A complicated sex ritual. There was lots of blood, the whole thing perfectly wicked," she says, flashing him a coy smile.
The skepticism in his stare is discomfiting. He searches her face like he can see past her sunglasses and right through her bluff, and then a smile blooms on his face, so wide it brings to mind Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You.
"It's embarrassing, isn't it?" He says.
"You assume I experience the full spectrum of human emotion," she says, employing her skill of admitting nothing and cinching the subject closed in one fell swoop.
Weasley snorts, rubbing his hand over his mouth.
"What?" She asks.
"Hermione once told me that I've got the emotional range of a teaspoon," he says, nudging her with his elbow, "so between the two of us, maybe it's closer to a soup spoon. You know, the kind that cuts the corners of your mouth if you try to shove it all in at once?"
She presses her lips together.
"I forget that you people just say whatever idiotic thing comes to mind," she says, biting the inside of her cheek to kill the fondness residing there.
He drums a beat against the dashboard with his long fingers.
"There are worse things to be, I s’pose,” he says contemplatively. “A spoon keeps us bite-sized. Digestible.”
“Easy to swallow?” Pansy says, the corner of her lips kicking up.
Weasley’s choke of laughter was worth it.
