George W. Bush, the infamously anti-gay and neoconservative former U.S. president who invaded Iraq on a lie, has criticized congressional Republicans for threatening to defund the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a largely successful African HIV-prevention program that he launched back in 2003. “There is no program more pro-life” than PEPFAR, he wrote.
Though PEPFAR is estimated to have saved over 25 million lives, its funding is set to expire on September 30. Congressional Republicans are falsely claiming that the program promotes abortion and using its re-funding as a bargaining chip in budget negotiations. Republicans have threatened to defund the entire federal government at the end of the month unless they’re allowed to slash military diversity programs and military aid to Ukraine and to increase anti-immigration measures at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“We are on the verge of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. To abandon our commitment now would forfeit two decades of unimaginable progress and raise further questions about the worth of America’s word,” Bush wrote in a Wednesday opinion article in The Washington Post.
Bush said that his Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, his White House chief of staff Joshua Bolton, and his senior policy advisor Michael Gerson had advised him to begin PEPFAR. Gerson reportedly told Bush that it would be “a source of national shame” if the U.S. didn’t try to help end the worldwide HIV epidemic.
Bush’s opinion article cited words that Gerson himself had written in defense of PEPFAR in November 2017: “Are Republicans in Congress prepared to squander a legacy of GOP leadership that has won the United States considerable goodwill around the world? Among evangelical Christians, what definition of being ‘pro-life’ does not include saving millions of lives from preventable disease and death?”
Adding his own thoughts, Bush wrote, “There is no program more pro-life than one which has saved more than 25 million lives. I urge Congress to reauthorize PEPFAR for another five years without delay.”
During his presidency, Bush backed a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, and used bans on same-sex marriage to help him win re-election in 2004. While he served, 27 states banned same-sex marriage.
Despite Bush’s anti-gay record, PEPFAR was “a sound investment in U.S. security,” Ben Plumley, the former CEO of the now-defunct international HIV organization Pangea, said in a now-deleted interview with Hornet.com. Plumley said the program “generated very significant goodwill towards the United States” and countered “the spread of radical Islam or radical anti-Western attitudes in sub-Saharan Africa.”
Plumley also noted that most HIV transmissions in sub-Saharan Africa are heterosexual, meaning that conservative Republicans could support PEPFAR without worrying about seeming too overtly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.

Seward/Van Helsing as a ship never crossed my mind until I read Bram’s feral fan letter to his crush Walt Whitman.
He wanted him to be his mentor but also says he wishes Whitman (who was probably around Van Helsing’s age at that point) to be “father, and brother and wife to his soul.”
https://hornet.com/stories/letter-to-walt-whitman-bram-stoker/
Also, you read this letter and how Stoker writes Seward makes so much more sense because… Stoker was just like that. I need to read more of his correspondences to see if they’re all like this. Cuz we all joke about Abe Van Helsing being the self insert, but I’d be really curious to see if Jack actually shares more of his mannerisms.
Anyway, RIP Bram. Sorry you didn’t get to fuck that old man.
Edit: apparently they did meet so who knows, he may have fucked that old man after all!

China and the Soviet Union were both rather homophobic societies (they’ve also continued in that same vein), but that didn’t stop the designers of these Communist propaganda posters from accidentally creating some fabulous artwork.
The physical closeness seen in the images wasn’t meant to be a sexual one, of course, but rather was meant to be representative of the importance of the two communist cultures staying close politically.

Sick of Bigotry Disgusised As Kinks
This post is going to get pretty heavy so references for rape, racism, and transphobia
Hi, so I guess I should first introduce the fact that I’m non-binary. I don’t talk about it much, simply because I haven’t felt the need to, but I feel it adds context for what you’re about to read because I have been pissed about this shit for years.
So, I know introspection has an antagonistic relationship with a lot of people's sexual preferences.
Like why do I like the idea of fucking a sentient tree man? Or why does the idea of a vampire threatening to turn me into one of his mindless minions a turn on? Or aliens pretending to be human firemen? And so on and so on. A lot of the time it doesn't make any sense and that's fine. Not everything has to be analyzed.
But, there's a thin line with that because as much as we want to see sexual fantasy as being completely separate from the real world it's not.
Both in the sense that our sexual fantasies are shaped by the society we live in and in the sense that these fantasies can reinforce certain world views.
For example, why are there popular male TF stories that involve trans women being depicted as aggressive rapists and male TF stories where Arab men are described as exotic and sneaky?
Why are there so many stories where poor Black men are described as “strong like a fieldhand” and then have their bodies stolen by rich white men? Why are assigned male at birth non-binary people only included in stories where they're forced to become masculine and cisgender? Or just stories where especially Black, Latinx, and trans feminine characters are humiliated and called slurs both in the story itself and sometimes the damn title?
And the answer is like it or not most of these stories are written for and by white cis people. With marginalized characters playing a subservient role to their power fantasies. And whether intentional or not these fantasies often reinforce the same attitudes that society places on people. Prejudices that exist to justify systems of exploitation.
For example, if you do a cross-section of US states with the harshest transphobic laws (think bathroom bills, student sports bans, etc) with the US states with the highest searches of fetishistic transgender porn you find that the results are almost the exact same. I’ll include the sources below.
These sterotypes exist as excuses to subject marginalized people to hyper-surveillance, poverty, criminalization, and sexual violence. Stereotypes that are fueled by mass media, very much including porn. So just because you want more “diversity” from the subjects in male TF stories doesn’t necessarily make you more tolerant or less bigoted. Or described in another way. Just because you want to fuck marginalized people doesn’t make you less a piece of shit.
The point of this isn't to say that all violent male TF stories lead to violence or that if you read a transphobic story once and got a boner that you're evil or whatever.
The point of this is to say that racist and transphobic "fetishes" are violent and I'm sick of how normalized it is within the male TF community. Im also sick of how often so many (cis white) TF writers seem to either be unaware of their biases or openly engage in them when writing.
Wow, this was a long rant. And I don’t want to do this often. I like to just stick with the stories I write and leave it at that, but this has been bothering me for years and I've seen no one else say shit about it.

Also if you want more background on how racism affects sexual desire, I reccomend Angela Davis’s “Women, Race, and Class” and the first episode of “Sex, Explained” on Netflix. The episode for a more curosry view (like 20 min at the end of it) and the book for a more in-depth discussion on not specifically sex and desire, but a broader anaylsis of American anti-Blackness that includes it.

A rant on why ALL PRESIDENTS SUCK... okay
Reagan - Is the reason why the AIDS epidemic was so huge. He mishandled it and was largely neglectful. His wife even denied helping her “friend” after he begged her to help him get treatment for it. (he was also a movie star... and looking at past presidents I think we should all agree that movie stars shouldnt be the leaders of countries).
He tripled the national debt. Under his presidency the national debt went from 1 trillion to almost 3 trillion because of ✨war✨.
Child obesity. Back then shit shown on television was regulated to all hell especially things shown to children, but that changed under Reagans Earth Island Explains. This regulation made it easier to show things that were marketed towards adults. This also led to candy and sugar being shown to children more, and because kids are stupid little shits who dont understand the concept of long term effects they started eating a shit ton of sugar and things that are overall extremely bad for people. The American Psychological Association even confirmed this!!!!
He illegally sold a shit ton of weapons in order to raise money for the Contras - y’know, the people who murdered children and raped nuns.
His policies not only tripled the national debt but also widened the gap between the rich and poor. He used trickle down economics which slashed taxes for the rich. (the top 1% richest americans income has doubled since he came into office). He also made MASSIVE cuts to public programs that helped poor people.
His administration helped fund the Taliban. Why? To fight communism. Which is the same reason he funded the Contras.

Donald Trump-
Now, I feel like I shouldn’t have to explain this one, but lets go.
He held a white supremacist rally on Juneteenth.
Raped minors - literal children. Then paid their families to not talk about it.
Has said racial slurs, but I don’t think I had to write that
Rolled back a anti-discrimination bill for trans people DURING A PANDEMIC and banned trans people from the military.
Tanked the economy
Made hate crimes spike
Used a church for clout (Listen, I’m an atheist and don’t really care about God stuff, but even I know that’s wrong)
Actively against Black Lives Matter
Named Covid-19 the “China Virus” Which I shouldn’t have to explain how racist that is
Mishandled the pandemic and is the whole reason why it’s still here
Said that the U.S. deaths caused by Covid-19 would be “very low” if you didn’t count the blue states. The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES said that.

March 10th: “Today marks the 32nd anniversary of the unofficial founding of ACT UP, one of the most important queer advocacy groups in history. Without it, the worst days of the HIV epidemic might have stretched out far further, and queer liberation might have stalled indefinitely in the ’80s. Thanks to this org, queer advocacy became stronger than ever, providing a model to this day for resistance. Here’s our celebration of its work with a look at ACT UP history.
The climate in which ACT UP was founded was bleak. In the mid-’80s, thousands of Americans — largely gay men — had been killed not only by HIV but by Republican-led indifference to their suffering. What’s more, disorganization, ignorance, stigma and fear were all contributing to slow progress to combat the virus.
Larry Kramer saw what was desperately needed: an aggressive campaign to confront leaders whose timidity was costing lives. At the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center in New York, he gave a rousing speech on March 10, 1987, telling the assembled crowd, “At the rate we are going, you could be dead in less than five years.” He proposed a new organization that would take a far more assertive stance than groups like the Gay Men’s Health Crisis. There was overwhelming community support.
From the start, ACT UP — which stands for AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power — was bold in its ambition. Just a few days after Larry’s speech, over 200 people marched on Wall Street. They wanted more access to experimental AIDS medication and a national policy on AIDS. At the time, experimental drugs were so hard to come by that doctors were forced to choose which of their patients might receive a life-saving treatment, and which ones were out of luck. In addition, the Reagan administrationhad turned an almost complete blind eye to the epidemic, devoting few resources to research or prevention.
