Bisexual PSA
Bisexuality is real.
Bisexual people are attracted to people of more than one gender. This can mean being attracted to men and women, or to people of any gender identity. Bisexuality is a valid and legitimate sexual orientation.
Bisexuality is not a phase.
Some people may think that bisexuality is just a phase that people go through before they figure out their true sexual orientation. However, this is not the case. Bisexuality is a lifelong orientation for many people.
Bisexuality is not a choice.
People do not choose to be bisexual. They are born bisexual. Just like people do not choose to be gay or straight, they do not choose to be bisexual.
Bisexuality is not a threat to society.
Some people may think that bisexuality is a threat to society because it challenges traditional notions of gender and sexuality. However, bisexuality is not a threat to anyone. In fact, bisexual people are just as diverse as any other population group. They come from all walks of life and have all different beliefs and values.
Bisexuality is beautiful.
Bisexuality is a beautiful and complex sexual orientation. It is a gift to be able to love people of all genders. Bisexuality is a part of who we are, and we should be proud of it.
If you are bisexual, know that you are not alone. There are many other people out there who are bisexual, and there are many resources available to you. You are valid and you are loved.

Nebraska state Senator John Fredrickson is the first out gay man elected to the state legislature. Now, he has another feather in his cap.
After an impassioned speech in opposition to a bill that targeted transgender youth, two of his colleagues changed their minds about the legislation that they had co-sponsored. The measure did not pass out of committee after they did.
The state’s legislature is nonpartisan but breaks into traditional Democrat and Republican divides. As in other states, bills attacking the transgender community have been championed by conservatives.
The bill would have banned transgender youth from locker rooms, sports teams and bathrooms that match their gender identity. It also effectively barred transgender boys from all sports competitions.
Fredrickson and his husband have a son – and as a gay parent, he spoke directly to the kids and families who were under the microscope.
“The world can be tough and scary,” he said. “I personally know a thing or two about having a family that many people might say is not normal.”
“I stand here today, confidently, to tell you if you love your kid unconditionally for who they are, and if they know they’re loved, you can weather a lot,” Fredrickson added.
“Don’t spend a minute of your energy or time thinking about any of my colleagues in here who are too scared of difference to allow themselves to understand and celebrate the beauty and joy that you bring to our state.”
Instead, he said, parents should “love your babies and surround yourself with the people who love you.”
The bill was being filibustered. It needed 33 votes to pass out of the committee, but it garnered only 31. After Fredrickson gave his speech, when it came time to vote, two co-sponsors of the bill, state Sens. Tom Brandt and Merv Riepe, chose to abstain. Their move effectively stopped the bill.
Nebraska’s legislature will adjourn this week.

Matt Walsh (self-proclaimed Theocratic Fascist) wants to exterminate trans people. It’s time to get meaner folks. I’m not fucking joking.

Ragamalika Karthikeyan, an editor at The News Minute who identifies as a genderfluid person and is a Brahmin, talks about how her upper-caste location has allowed her greater social access. “The fact that I came out late in my life, combined with the fact that I am a privileged person by caste, means the opportunities that I have with regards to work are much better than the opportunities that a trans non-binary person would have if they are from a marginalized caste,” she said. “I’m not seen as a threat on multiple layers in a workplace,” she added. Further, Ragamalika also mentioned that her authority is not questioned as often because of her privileged caste location. “I know that even cisgender and heterosexual Dalit people in leadership positions face much more questioning when compared with a queer or non-binary person with caste privilege in a similar position,” she said.

Heng-Lehtinen is a firm believer in the unity of the LGBTQ+ community and says queer people of all stripes need to work together. If our shared history proves one thing, it’s that we succeed when there’s unity among our ranks, not division.

George W. Bush, the infamously anti-gay and neoconservative former U.S. president who invaded Iraq on a lie, has criticized congressional Republicans for threatening to defund the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a largely successful African HIV-prevention program that he launched back in 2003. “There is no program more pro-life” than PEPFAR, he wrote.
Though PEPFAR is estimated to have saved over 25 million lives, its funding is set to expire on September 30. Congressional Republicans are falsely claiming that the program promotes abortion and using its re-funding as a bargaining chip in budget negotiations. Republicans have threatened to defund the entire federal government at the end of the month unless they’re allowed to slash military diversity programs and military aid to Ukraine and to increase anti-immigration measures at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“We are on the verge of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. To abandon our commitment now would forfeit two decades of unimaginable progress and raise further questions about the worth of America’s word,” Bush wrote in a Wednesday opinion article in The Washington Post.
Bush said that his Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, his White House chief of staff Joshua Bolton, and his senior policy advisor Michael Gerson had advised him to begin PEPFAR. Gerson reportedly told Bush that it would be “a source of national shame” if the U.S. didn’t try to help end the worldwide HIV epidemic.
Bush’s opinion article cited words that Gerson himself had written in defense of PEPFAR in November 2017: “Are Republicans in Congress prepared to squander a legacy of GOP leadership that has won the United States considerable goodwill around the world? Among evangelical Christians, what definition of being ‘pro-life’ does not include saving millions of lives from preventable disease and death?”
Adding his own thoughts, Bush wrote, “There is no program more pro-life than one which has saved more than 25 million lives. I urge Congress to reauthorize PEPFAR for another five years without delay.”
During his presidency, Bush backed a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, and used bans on same-sex marriage to help him win re-election in 2004. While he served, 27 states banned same-sex marriage.
Despite Bush’s anti-gay record, PEPFAR was “a sound investment in U.S. security,” Ben Plumley, the former CEO of the now-defunct international HIV organization Pangea, said in a now-deleted interview with Hornet.com. Plumley said the program “generated very significant goodwill towards the United States” and countered “the spread of radical Islam or radical anti-Western attitudes in sub-Saharan Africa.”
Plumley also noted that most HIV transmissions in sub-Saharan Africa are heterosexual, meaning that conservative Republicans could support PEPFAR without worrying about seeming too overtly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.

Myth: Walsh just wants to understand what it means to be a woman
If Walsh’s agenda were not apparent at the start of the film, it is crystal clear by the end. Toward the close of the film, Walsh shows footage of a stunt he pulled in Loudon County, Virginia, where false rumors of a transgender rapist swept the country. Far from being a neutral observer, Walsh rented a basement apartment in the area just so he could comment at a school board meeting and accuse its members of being child abusers and poisonous predators.
If that weren’t enough, Walsh has made it painstakingly clear on Twitter that his objective is to eliminate transgender people by “bring[ing] down gender ideology” and destroying the “gender cult.”
For those who take the film at face value, Walsh paints a frightening image of mutilated children and confused professionals — of an immoral ideology threatening the Western Christian way of life — all under the guise of a serious documentary. As a result, the film provides ammunition for those who seek to deprive transgender people of access to affirming and life-saving healthcare.
And as much as trans folks and their supporters would like the film to fade into obscurity, right-wing activists and politicians are eating it up. Among those promoting the film is Texas state Rep. Matt Schaefer (R).
Even “gender-critical feminists” (aka TERFs) are boosting the signal, despite some frustration over a man taking credit for the lies they’ve been telling for years. Ultimately, they both see transgender people as a “mutual enemy.”
Perhaps one of the biggest lies promoted by the film is that “the left” is unable to answer the “simple” question: What is a woman? In reality, all of the trans-supportive people interviewed offered an answer; Walsh just didn’t like the responses he got. At least, not until he asked his wife at the close of the film. She replied, “An adult human female — who needs help opening this,” as she handed him a jar of pickles.

Call us goody two shoes, over earnest, tiresomely religious, the pansy peace corps -- we've heard it all and more.
But please stop calling this news, and please stop pretending it's important to queer people. You deal in false hope, and perpetuate queer stereotypes besides.
