Daniel Villarreal at LGBTQ Nation:
Right-wingers are falsely claiming that a transgender woman conducted a Sunday shooting at the Houston megachurch of homophobic celebrity pastor Joel Osteen, even though local police have definitively said that she wasn’t trans. The right-wing claims originate from reports that the 36-year-old shooter, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, also used the male alias Jeffrey Escalante in the past, The Houston Chronicle reported. Right-wingers have increasingly blamed public shootings on the “mentally ill” trans identities of the shooters. “She utilized both male and female names but, through all of our investigation to this point — talking with individuals, interviews, documents — Houston Police Department reports she has been identified this entire time as female: she/her,” a Houston police officer said in a recent public briefing posted on X.
Two off-duty officers shot Moreno dead shortly after she entered the church with an assault rifle and a 5-year-old child who was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by gunfire. Moreno’s rifle reportedly had a sticker that said “Palestine” on it, though police are still investigating the possible motive behind her attack. Police say she had a long record of mental illness and prior arrests dating back to 2005 that include assault, forgery, marijuana possession, theft, evading, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Despite police saying that the shooter wasn’t trans, far-right X accounts like anti-LGBTQ+ extremist Chaya Raichik, who goes by Libs of TikTok, have falsely told their social media followers that the shooter was trans. In the past, Raichik also misidentified the May 2022 Uvalde school shooter as trans — the shooter was not trans.
“The trans terrorist who shot up a Texas Church was mentally ill,” Raichik wrote in her misleading post. “What kind of hormones and drugs was she on? … Leftists ‘affirm’ gender dysphoria rather than treat the root cause which is mental illness.” While Raichik’s post has been reshared nearly 1,000 times on X by the time of this article’s publication, Raichik is not a mental health expert or medical professional. Gender dysphoria is not caused by mental illness — scientists suspect it is caused by a variety of genetic, hormonal, natal, cultural, and environmental factors, according to medical experts at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Nonetheless, numerous right-wing accounts on Twitter have repeated the claim, calling Moreno a “trans terrorist” and adding “our government protects lunatics like this.” Those spreading the false claim include far-right troll Jack Posobiec, the promoter of the anti-gay #Pizzgate conspiracy theory that eventually morphed into QAnon, whose believers regularly accuse gay politicians and allies of sexually abusing kids.
Right-wing anti-LGBTQ+ demagogues jumped to conclusions to falsely claim a trans woman conducted a shooting at the Joel Osteen-pastored Lakewood Church on Sunday.
Turns out the shooter wasn't a trans woman, but a cisgender woman.

Regardless of the shooters gender identity this could have been prevented if the cops listened to the women who complained about the threats and harassment.
KATE ANDERSON CONTRIBUTOR February 13, 20249:57 AM ET
Neighbors of the Joel Osteen church shooter, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, claimed that they had expressed concerns about Moreno to law enforcement after being threatened and harassed, according to NBC News.
The Houston Police Department announced Monday that the shooter was 36-year-old Moreno and noted that the suspect’s weapon had a sticker with the word Palestine on it and that their investigation had found antisemitic writings. Six women who lived in the neighborhood with Moreno said that the suspect had threatened them, even brandishing a weapon, multiple times and criticized the lack of response from the Conroe Police Department, NBC News reported.
“No one should have died. No one should have been hurt. This should have been handled years ago, and here we are again,” Jill, president of the neighborhood association, told NBC.

A newborn baby boy was discovered Sunday in a dumpster behind an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
Video footage obtained by local news outlet ABC13 shows emergency services rescuing the baby from the trash and wrapping him in a blanket. The baby's skin is pink and hair wet.
The police responded to a call around 2 p.m. on Sunday from a man who heard a baby crying from a dumpster. When the officers rescued the newborn, he was reacting and moving his hands, as seen in the video.
ABC13 reported that on Tuesday afternoon investigators from the Houston Police Department appeared to focus their attention on a nearby food truck, taking photos and interviewing individuals identified as employees and owners. The truck had been parked at the location for about three months, according to the apartment manager.
The baby was taken to the hospital, found to be in good health, and is now under the care of Child Protective Services, according to local reports.
Police are reportedly continuing to investigate to identify the person responsible for abandoning the baby. Newsweek contacted the police department for more information via email.
A similar incident was reported in Pasadena, in the Houston area, only a few hours prior.
According to local media outlets, the Pasadena Police Department said it received a call around 4:15 a.m. from a person identifying themselves as a father who was having a mental health crisis and looking for a safe place to leave his baby. The infant was later found in a car seat by a dumpster next to a restaurant, authorities say.
The child appears to be "healthy and in good condition," according to child services.
The father appeared in court on Tuesday. He is facing charges of assault of a family member and child abandonment, and is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday.
A third baby was also reportedly abandoned on a walking trail earlier this year, believed to be just hours old.
Texas' Safe Haven law, also known as the Baby Moses law, states that parents who leave a baby in a safe place such as a hospital or fire station will not be prosecuted for abandonment or neglect.
The law states that the baby must be under 60 days old, unharmed, and placed with an employee of these safe places. It exists to give "parents who are unable to care for their child a safe and legal choice," according to the state's Department of Family and Protective Services.
Similar laws exist throughout the country, although the details of the baby's age and what is considered a "safe place" can vary from state to state.

Biden's non-binary nuclear official Sam Brinton is arrested as a 'fugitive of justice' - six months after being fired for stealing women's clothes at multiple airports
The former Biden administration nuclear energy official Sam Brinton has been arrested as a 'fugitive of justice', six months after being fired for stealing women's clothes in airports.
Brinton was picked up at home in Maryland. The non-binary, drag-queen was fired after admitting to taking a stranger's suitcase from the luggage carousel during a work trip.
The Biden administration had proudly announced Brinton's hiring, one of the first non-binary, LGBTQ hires in government.
---
For the luggage thing:
(...)
Brinton, who attracted attention as one of the federal government's first non-binary officials, was first charged last month for nabbing a woman’s suitcase from the baggage carousel at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in September. They initially denied taking the bag—which was reportedly worth more than $2,500—but later said they had grabbed it by mistake.
(...)
Then last week a second set of charges were filed in Las Vegas for Brinton—with police sharing surveillance footage of them leaving the Harry Reid International Airport with another woman's bag—this one worth an estimated $3,670, according to court documents.
(...)
The court documents said an officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan department viewed video footage showing Briton looking around suspiciously—placing the bag back on the luggage turnstile before snagging it a second time as it came around.
---
Not his first offense of that kind since
Female fashion designer alleges Sam Brinton wore her clothing that disappeared from airport in 2018

What the fuck is Hit Man? How the hell did they make a story as compelling, bizarre, twisted, snarky and sassy from an article about a man who worked for the Houston police department in the '80s and '90s?
Glen has outdone himself. He needs to write more movies.

27 OCTOBER 2004 (background text under the cut)
MILWAUKEE, WI — Police forces reel from a night of unprecedented civil unrest as mobs of robot and human rioters vandalize, destroy, and light property on fire in yet another escalation in pro-robot and anti-police protests. In a harrowing statement released from the Milwaukee Police Department, they saw a “complete and total loss of control over crowds” as the night progressed, and are currently “bracing for yet another day of chaos.”
Violence started five hours before sundown, but ramped up significantly after dusk. Streets in downtown were filled with members of the local chapter of the Machine’s Militia (M2), a robot-led revolutionary group advocating for universal robot rights without compromise. In the chaos, two people were admitted into the hospital for burn injuries. Their injuries were not severe.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel attempted to reach out to MPD’s Chief of Police for further comment on the week-long outbreak of unrest, but were told resources were occupied in preparing for further unrest. However, rumors that the National Guard were on their way to assist were confirmed. Journal Sentinel attempted to reach out to the leader of M2’s leader, who goes by the name “512”, but did not hear a response.
Last night’s violence is a common scene across the rest of the United States, most notably in Houston and Chicago, where violence continued throughout the entire night. Cities like Seattle and San Francisco, however, have been able to control the expansion of the riots and have even begun to push back on the violence. The future seems uncertain, many bracing for even more unrest as Election Day draws near.

The Houston riot of 1917, also known as the Camp Logan Mutiny, was a mutiny and riot by 156 soldiers from the all-black 24th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army, taking place on August 23, 1917, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred within a climate of overt hostility from members of the all-white Houston Police Department (HPD) against members of the local black community and black soldiers stationed at Camp Logan. Following an incident where police officers arrested and assaulted some black soldiers, many of their comrades mutinied and marched to Houston, where they opened fire and killed eleven civilians and five policemen. Five soldiers themselves were also killed as a result of the riot. In accordance with policies of the time, the soldiers were tried at three courts-martial; thirteen were executed, and 41 were sentenced to life imprisonment.

At 10:13AM on the 15th of September, 1959, the Houston Police Department received a phone call. They were informed that there had been an explosion at Poe Elementary School on Hazard at South Boulevard.
Around 125 pupils were on the school playground attending physical education class as the explosion occurred. Six people were killed: custodian James Arlie Montgomery, 56, teacher Jennie Katharine, 54, John Cecil Fitch Jr., 8, William S. Hawes Jr., 7, as well as the bomber, Paul Harold Orgeron, 49, and his son, Dusty Paul Orgeron, 7. Nineteen others were injured, most of which were children, as well as the school principal, Mrs. R. E. Doty, who sustained a broken leg.
“One boy was completely devoid of clothes. A little girl had been blown over 100 feet. There were pieces of flesh everywhere, and bits of clothes scattered all over,” read a Chronicle article.
Paul Orgeron, a three-time convict, arrived at the school armed with a suitcase stuffed with dynamite. He arrived with his young son in tow. When on the playground, he urged the children to assemble around him. Teacher, Patricia Johnston, noticed that there was a button on the bottom of the suitcase and instructed the children to go inside. As Orgeron was instructed to leave the school, he detonated the suitcase.
Paul and Dusty’s mother had separated due to spousal abuse. Paul had attempted to enroll his son in Edgar Allan Poe Elementary School but was turned down because he couldn’t produce Dusty’s birth certificate and health certificates. At the scene, investigators later found an incoherent note that was written by Orgeron which alluded to marital problems. Other family members said that Orgeron had recently become obsessed with religion and had claimed to be talking to God.

Texas authorities on May 25 captured an international fugitive wanted for murder.
Splendora police, in coordination with federal authorities, apprehended 21-year-old Leo Acosta Sanchez, who had been illegally residing in the "state and country," the Splendora Police Department said in a press release.
Sanchez "was known to travel between" Splendora and "her residence in Terrenos," a residential community advertising cheap land for sale outside Houston.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News Digital that Sanchez is originally from Mexico.
"Acosta entered the United States as a nonimmigrant on Aug. 20, 2023, and violated the terms of her admission," ICE said. "She remains in ICE custody pending disposition of her immigration proceedings."
"Vigilant" officers caught up with Sanchez during a "routine patrol," when they "identified the wanted individual behind the wheel of a vehicle and promptly called for backup."
"Following the arrival of additional units, a traffic stop was conducted, leading to the immediate arrest of the driver, identified as Leo Acosta Sanchez," the Splendora PD said in a press release.
Local police worked with the Department of Homeland Security to take Sanchez into custody. She faces charges for her alleged crimes committed outside the United States.

Ameera Deadrick was only 8 years-old when she vanished during 2016. The young girl was living in Texas at the time of her disappearance. Ameera still remains missing today, and her mother Tiara McWilliams is still fighting for answers.
Tiara and Ameera spent the early years of Ameera's life living in Wisconsin. Ameera's father, Anthony Deadrick, lived in Houston, Texas. Tiara and Anthony had a tumultuous relationship, as Anthony was reportedly abusive. When Tiara fled to Wisconsin with their daughter, Anthony allegedly "promised he'd make [Tiara] pay for taking Ameera from him."
In 2013, Tiara reluctantly agreed to allow Ameera to spend the summer with her father and his girlfriend, LaShanda Spikes, in Houston. When the summer ended, Anthony reportedly refused to return Ameera to Tiara. Tiara subsequently traveled to Houston herself to pick Ameera up. Once there, Anthony still refused to let Tiara bring Ameera back to Wisconsin. Tiara and Anthony did not have a legal custody agreement in place regarding Ameera. Due to this, the police allegedly refused to assist Tiara in the matter. Tiara eventually had to return to Wisconsin without her daughter.
Over the next few years, Tiara was able to visit Ameera in Houston on several occasions. The mother and daughter also kept in touch often via phone and FaceTime. Tiara repeatedly tried to convince Anthony to allow Ameera to go back to Wisconsin with her, but Anthony always refused.
By 2016, Tiara was no longer able to get in touch with Ameera, Anthony, or LaShanda. Throughout an investigation, it was revealed that Anthony Deadrick was arrested in November 2016 on unrelated charges. According to reports, nobody had seen Ameera earlier that fall - before her father was arrested. Tiara had no idea that Anthony was incarcerated, nor did she know that Ameera had not been seen since before he went to prison.
After Ameera was reported missing, investigators visited Anthony in prison to question him about his daughter's whereabouts. Anthony told detectives that "he had befriended a woman in Waco, Texas and had left Ameera in her care." He claimed the woman's name was Linda, but some people knew her as 'Tootie'. Anthony provided an address for investigators, but no such person by that name lived at the residence. Investigators have never been able to verify this woman's existence.
Anthony has since been released from prison. He has never been charged with anything related to Ameera's disappearance. Investigators have not publicly announced any other suspects or persons of interest.
Authorities in both Waco and Houston are investigating Ameera's disappearance. If you have any information that could lead to her whereabouts, please contact the Houston Police Department at 713-884-3131 or the Waco Police Department 254-750-7500.

It involved 156 soldiers from the all-black 24th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army. The catalyst for the riot was an incident where police officers arrested and assaulted several black soldiers. In response, many of their comrades mutinied and marched into Houston. Regrettably, this led to a violent confrontation where eleven civilians and five policemen lost their lives. Tragically, five soldiers themselves were also killed during the riot. During this time, prevailing policies dictated that the soldiers be subjected to three courts-martial. Thirteen soldiers were executed, and 41 others received life imprisonment sentences.
