How to Fix Crawl Errors and Boost Your Website’s Performance
As a website owner or SEO professional, keeping your website healthy and optimized for search engines is crucial. One of the key elements of a well-optimized website is ensuring that search engine crawlers can easily access and index your pages. However, when crawl errors arise, they can prevent your site from being fully indexed, negatively impacting your search rankings.
In this blog, we’ll discuss how to fix crawl errors, why they occur, and the best practices for maintaining a crawl-friendly website.
What Are Crawl Errors?
Crawl errors occur when a search engine's crawler (like Googlebot) tries to access a page on your website but fails to do so. When these crawlers can’t reach your pages, they can’t index them, which means your site won’t show up properly in search results. Crawl errors are usually classified into two categories: site errors and URL errors.
Site Errors: These affect your entire website and prevent the crawler from accessing any part of it.
URL Errors: These are specific to certain pages or files on your site.
Understanding the types of crawl errors is the first step in fixing them. Let’s dive deeper into the common types of errors and how to fix crawl errors on your website.
Common Crawl Errors and How to Fix Them
1. DNS Errors
A DNS error occurs when the crawler can’t communicate with your site’s server. This usually happens because the server is down or your DNS settings are misconfigured.
How to Fix DNS Errors:
Check if your website is online.
Use a DNS testing tool to ensure your DNS settings are correctly configured.
If the issue persists, contact your web hosting provider to resolve any server problems.
2. Server Errors (5xx)
Server errors occur when your server takes too long to respond, or when it crashes, resulting in a 5xx error code (e.g., 500 Internal Server Error, 503 Service Unavailable). These errors can lead to temporary crawl issues.
How to Fix Server Errors:
Ensure your hosting plan can handle your website’s traffic load.
Check server logs for detailed error messages and troubleshoot accordingly.
Contact your hosting provider for assistance if you’re unable to resolve the issue on your own.
3. 404 Not Found Errors
A 404 error occurs when a URL on your website no longer exists, but is still being linked to or crawled by search engines. This is one of the most common crawl errors and can occur if you’ve deleted a page without properly redirecting it.
How to Fix 404 Errors:
Use Google Search Console to identify all 404 errors on your site.
Set up 301 redirects for any pages that have been permanently moved or deleted.
If the page is no longer relevant, ensure it returns a proper 404 response, but remove any internal links to it.
4. Soft 404 Errors
A soft 404 occurs when a page returns a 200 OK status code, but the content on the page is essentially telling users (or crawlers) that the page doesn’t exist. This confuses crawlers and can impact your site’s performance.
How to Fix Soft 404 Errors:
Ensure that any page that no longer exists returns a true 404 status code.
If the page is valuable, update the content to make it relevant, or redirect it to another related page.
5. Robots.txt Blocking Errors
The robots.txt file tells search engines which pages they can or can’t crawl. If certain pages are blocked unintentionally, they won’t be indexed, leading to crawl issues.

I wrote so much for the @/truffyfest Twine and I want to show some all of it off because I crave validation xD but like. Even if I was allowed to post it to AO3 and/or Tumblr, it would make no sense out of context rip
so anyway. if you play the Twine and happen upon my scenes (very likely, I over did it) please let me know what you thought! 👀🤍

Okay. It's time for an AI rant.
My nephew is 13 years old. Whenever he writes a paper for school, I check it over and fix all of his mistakes for him. He said to me, "Maybe I'll proofread your paper for you in exchange," meaning one of the scholarly articles I write for work. I said, "Cool," and gave him the file. And he said, "Well, this is full of errors! See, you always say you have a lot to correct on my stuff, and look at all the stuff you got wrong!" And I said, surprised, "What? Where?" Because I'm sure there are typos in the draft I sent him, but not, like, that many.
And then he pointed to the screen and said, "Look at all the blue and red lines you have."
And I said, "Yeah, but those are wrong. Like, those are blue and red lines I'm ignoring because the computer is wrong." And then I paused and added, "You know you can't proofread a paper by just looking at the red and blue lines, right?" And he gave me the blankest look, because that clearly is EXACTLY what he thinks. And it became even clearer suddenly why, whenever I correct something on his paper, his immediate reaction is, "It didn't have a blue or red line."
There's a very good reason for that: THAT'S BECAUSE THE COMPUTER ISN'T SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT IT WAS WRONG.
I am so tired of being sold the idea that computers are better than humans and so we should just outsource everything to them, which is clearly the lesson my nephew is absorbing in U.S. middle school. COMPUTERS ARE NOT BETTER THAN HUMANS. Like, maybe they are better at humans at crawling through rubble to find people trapped inside. They are also better at preserving things in a searchable format. Things like that. Very limited circumstances.
I don't want to sound alarmist but everything I hear about people using generative AI freaks me out. It's not just that I'm freaked out by people being like, "I use it to write novels!" (Although I don't see how they do, I have tried to have it write fiction for me and the output was truly terrible.) But I recognize my bias around creative writing and so no one needs to credit my views on artificial writing. But! Other things are alarming, too! "I use it to brainstorm x, y, or z." But...why? Why not just...use your own brain...to...brain...storm? The computer doesn't even have a brain to brainstorm with! And you might be like, "But it comes up with things that my brain would never think of!" So would other people! You could also brainstorm with other people! Or even through Google to see what other people have thought before you (not AI). Please don't belittle the wonder of thinking.
I just feel like the marketing around generative AI boils down to "Wouldn't it be easier not to use your own brain to think about things?" Everyone. No. It would not be. Please just trust me on this. I'm not just an old person who is out of touch with technology or something. I promise. USE YOUR BRAINS. IT WILL BE OKAY.

☆SATORU GOJO
— cw: gojo x fem reader, office au, missionary, squirting, degrading, etc.
running your own business has its perks and its downfalls, but right now? this is the worst. your business partner, gojo satoru, drives you absolutely insane. he shows up late to every meeting—hell, he didn’t even bother to show up at all this week!
you’re now standing next to him in the elevator, arms crossed tightly under your chest, trying to ignore the headache his obnoxious presence gives you. gojo leans casually against the wall, hands shoved in his pockets, rambling on about his latest wild night, his words muffled by the cherry favoured lollipop lazily hanging from his glossy lips, leaving a red stain that only adds to your irritation.
“c’monnn, you’re seriously mad at me?” he whines, and you can’t help but roll your eyes, your black heels tapping impatiently against the elevator floor as it crawls toward your floor.
“seriously? we lost that business deal because you can’t stop chasing after new girls every night.” you grit your teeth, glaring at him as he swirls the candy around before popping it out with a little pop!
“what, are you jealous that i’m getting laid and you’re not?” he smirks, clearly reveling in the thought.
“fuck you, gojo.”
your last words before you truly regret putting yourself in this predicament. you reaalllyy struck a nerve as he slammed you on your back on top of his desk- crowded with important documents that he did not care about. the slutty position he had you in was filthy, your knees pressed up to your chest. your black pencil skirt now bunched to your waist as your panties were thrown somewhere onto the desk, showing how impatient he was. gojo jackhammers his thick cock into your sopping cunt as the decorations on the desk began to slip off the desk— some even breaking due to the impact, but he did not care. lewd squelches ring in your ears as you’re moaning uncontrollably. his pace is beyond brutal your breasts jiggle by each thrust.
“are you gonna be a good girl and watch that dirty mouth?” he says through panting breaths as one of his hands move to your clit, rudely pinching your sensitive nub between his fingers as you sob loudly. your eyes flutter open as you make eye contact with him, trying your hardest to speak as he darkly chuckles.
“awh, poor baby can’t speak— that’s okay, she’s doing allll the talking, right?” he says, referring to your pussy as loud sloshes of your cunt cry louder with each thrust.
“f-fuck you- hahh,” you manage to speak out as his eyes darken. his thrusts come to a stop as he moves his hand from your cunt to grab something on the desk. your panties. he scrunches your damp panties into his hand as he shoves it into your mouth- nearly choking on the fabric.
“thaats much better,” he says as he picks up his rhythm once again. but this time- this time you fucked up. his hips snapping at an animalistic pace as your body aches at being folded in half. he’s showing you no mercy. your moans muffled by the cotton fabric in your mouth as tears races down the sides of your cheeks. you cunt clenching around his length as he lets out a low groan.
gojo bites his lower lip hard as he feels his cock twitching- his balls tightening as your pussy sucks the soul out of him. “gahh- f-fuck, sloppy fuckin’ pussy.” he moans as his hips stutter. your eyes crossed as he brings his hand to your cunt once again, as he draws rough circles on your nub. he can tell you’re close just by the way you’re-
oh.
your body feels limp as you unexpectedly come undone. you see white splotches in your vision as your ears slightly ring. gojo looks down at your fucked expression as he admires the mess you’ve made. your juices everywhere, all over his suit, his desk- fuck you’ve soaked the business contacts that you two needed.
“w-what, mmf,” you moan when you feel gojo slip out of your gaping cunt- thick globs of cum seeping out your hole, creating a puddle of your mess on his desk.
“mmm, you squirted- that was fuckin’ hoottt,” he says while admiring how much cum your pussy can take before it spills out. he slaps his cock onto your swollen cunt as you whine at the sensitivity. your legs aching at having them up against your chest- but just before you can rest them down, gojo pulls something out of his pocket. another lollipop. seriously.
he unravels the new flavour, strawberry lemonade, as he brings it into his mouth. humming in content at the sweet flavour. he looks down at your cunt filled with your mixed juices. gojo brings the fresh candy out of his mouth as he smirks, bringing the candied stick to your cunt, smothering the sticky candy in your sweet cum. you bite your lip as you watch the entire scene unfold as you gasp loudly once he plunged the pink lollipop into your pussy, twirling the stick as he slowly thrusts the candy in your hole. collecting your gooey cum along the lollipop as he pulls it out with a slight pop! before sticking it back into his mouth- this time moaning at your honeyed essence.
☆SUGURU GETO
— cw: fwb!geto x fem reader, blow job, riding, etc.
sugu: come outside, baby.
you: nah.
you toss your phone onto your bed after sending the text. you shouldn’t feel this way—after all, you’re not even together! just before his message, you saw geto posing with a girl who clearly had her eyes on him. it infuriated you, but you both had agreed on being friends with benefits.
your phone chimes again, geto clearly unhappy with your response.
sugu: ???
rolling your eyes, you glance out your bedroom window and spot his matte black sports car parked in front of your apartment complex. your heart sinks a little when you realize no one is in the car. that means—
shit.
you forgot you gave him your spare key. you rush to the living room to lock the extra locks on the door, but you stop dead in your tracks. there’s geto, standing in the middle of your living room. damn, he looks good—his messy long hair falls over his back as he digs his hands into his black sweats, swaying slightly as he waits for an explanation.
“gimme a kiss, baby,” he rasps. you cross your arms, your silk black pajama dress accentuating your figure, and he bites his lip, eyes roaming over you. you don’t move closer, and he clicks his tongue in annoyance.
“what’s got you upset now, hmm?” he steps toward you, closing the gap, shamelessly staring.
“i don’t know, maybe you should ask your other girl for a kiss,” you reply coldly, looking away. he laughs genuinely at your response.
“heh, don’t worry, i only want you,” he reassures, reaching out to caress your face. but you stubbornly swat his hand away, surprising him.
“go call her when you want your dick sucked, pussy,” you mutter under your breath, loud enough for him to hear as you turn your back and storm toward your room, anger simmering beneath the surface.
geto’s eyes widen, his jaw tightening as your words hit him like a slap to the face. the silence behind you feels charged, the tension growing.
you barely make it halfway into your room before your mouth runs ahead of your mind. “if your dick was even big enough to suck,” you mutter quietly to yourself. but he heard.
that’s it. you can feel the heat of his stare burning into your back, the shift in his energy unmistakable. before you can take another step, his voice cuts through the air, low and deadly. “what did you just say?”
your loud mouth is what ended you up here, knees digging into the carpet- almost burning- of your living room in between getos thighs. your jaw aching as you attempt to take in all of his inches- hell you’re barely half way! and fuck, he was so big and so girthy it hurt. geto fucks your face hard as both of his hands grip the sides of your hair- bobbing your head roughly as you loudly gag on his cock. his tip hitting the back of your throat as his hips snap up. drool slips past your mouth as your chin is covered in saliva and cum as you’re in tears- mascara running down your face, your eyes roll to the back of your head as your cunt clenches around nothing.
“say that shit again baby- my dicks what?” he taunts as he pulls your head away from his cock, causing you to choke up a cough as you’re trying your hardest to breathe properly. geto grows impatient at your silence as he grabs the base of his cock as he slaps your cheeks to regain your consciousness.
“don’t tell me you’ve given upp,“ he trails as he drags his leaky tip across your swollen lips- painting your lips as a shiny gloss.
“lil’ dick,” you spat out, giving him a weak smile as geto stares into your eyes. you’ve got the fuckin’ nerve, he thinks.
geto grabs the back of your head, shoving his shaft back into your mouth- this time he pushes your head to the base, your eyes widening as you’re nearly choking on his cock. your nose brushes along his neatly trimmed pubic hair as you swear you felt him in your chest. you’re hallowing your cheeks as the room fills with pornographic squelches from your mouth as you can’t believe you’re making these sounds.
you slowly snake your hand under your dress, parting your folds as you rub your clit as you moan around his cock. geto groans loudly at the vibration. he notices you touching your pussy as he roughly pulls you away, a string of saliva connected from his tip to your swollen lips as you choke up a cough. geto suddenly lifts you off the ground as he pulls you into his lap, staring up at your fucked out expression.
“since you wanna be in charge, ride me.” he demands as he aligns his tip to your drooling hole. but before you could go at your own pace, geto tuts in annoyance and slams your hips down onto his- earning a loud sob from you. he’s practically moulding himself in your gummy walls each time you two fuck. your cunt squeezes his shaft tightly as he moans, throwing his head back on the couch as you slowly pace yourself on his dick.
“‘so b-big sugu’— i f-feel you-“ you could barely finish your sentence without whimpering as one of your hands glide against your tummy, feeling the bulge of his cock ramming himself in you as your breasts bounce in his face. fuck, he’s so inlove with you.
“yeaa I bet you feel me rightttt here, pretty”
☆TOJI FUSHIGURO
— cw: yakuza boss!toji x bimbo!reader, voyeurism, tojis being very patient but he’s mean.
“toj’, i wanna leave,” you whine, tugging at his long-sleeve button-up, the top three buttons casually undone. he’s trying to focus on the meeting, surrounded by men who practically tremble at his presence. you huff in annoyance, crossing your arms and eyeing the other gang members, wishing he hadn’t dragged you into this boring affair that has nothing to do with you.
he promised it would only take thirty minutes of your life, and then he’d take you on a shopping spree for your favorite purse. your acrylic nails tap impatiently on your phone as you check the mall hours—oh my goodness, it’s closed. your eyes widen, rage bubbling up inside you.
“toji, you lied! the mall’s closed and i’m stuck in this boring-ass meeting!” you whisper loudly, glancing at the other gang members as they discuss business that feels miles away from your world. not even a glance from him; his eyes remain glued to the conversation. muttering under your breath, you call him a “useless bitch” and return to your phone, pouting once more.
but your frustration catches his attention. without you realizing it, toji shifts his focus to you—not just because of your outburst, but because of the sly comment you let slip. one hand rests on the back of your head as you look up at him, your eyes sparkling with hope for some acknowledgment. that hope quickly fades when you see the look in his eyes.
“wanna repeat that for me, pretty?” he asks, his voice low. your heart races as he gently pets the back of your head, and suddenly, all the gang members and bodyguards are looking your way.
“the mall’s closed,” you whisper, feeling small under their gaze. he chuckles, knowing you’re not as clueless as your bimbo outfit suggests.
“mmm, you think i’m a liar and a useless bitch, huh?” he scoffs, and you frown, realizing how impatient you’ve been.
“well, you are! you promised we were going shopping, but you’re prioritizing this shitty meeting!” with that, he simply nods, slipping his hand from your head and turning back to the men at the table.
“this—this is what happens when y’er pet never fuckin’ listens,” he announces to everyone, suddenly pulling you into his lap, making you yelp at his speed.
“’m not your pet—”
and with that toji had your pussy on display for everyone to see- to witness how your bratty mouth causes you to be punished when things don’t go your way. your mini skirt now thrown across the room as toji had you prettily on his lap- your back to his large chest- as he bucks his hips up from the squeaky chair, your pussy sobbing with loud and lewd squelches as your feet were up in the air- pretty platform heels on display- kept up nice and wide by his beefy arms as he commanded everyone to watch. your head rests on his shoulder as you tongue lolls out. he’s already fucked you dumb.
your moans bounce off the room as toji rams his cock into your cunt- kissing your cervix as you tighten around him. the chair squeaking with each thrust— your gummy walls nearly suffocating him. all the eyes on you make you squirm on tojis lap as you attempted to close your legs- but not as fast as he spreads your legs wider as you babble incoherent apologies.
“‘s too much toj’— you’re being ‘s mean,” you cry out as your cunt spasms around his thick cock. he grins as he finds this ironic— insulting him and you think this is too much. pathetic.
“mean? ‘m being mean? alright mama,” he darkly says as he rises from the chair, many pairs of eyes watching your every move as he bends you over the meeting table as it slightly shakes at the force- causing you gasp at the impact of the hard wooden table as you catch a glimpse of some of the men palming themselves to you.
tojis hands grip the flesh of your hips as his unrelenting tempo quickens as you sob out. your knees nearly give out as he hoists you up, chuckling at how much you’re struggling to take him. tojis merciless pounding cause you to crawl forward— you can’t take it anymore that he slams his cock deeper into your cunt as tears spill from your eyes, your makeup now ruined and smudged.
“going somewhere, doll?”
☆SUKUNA RYOMEN
— cw: trueform!sukuna x fem!reader, jealous sukuna, monster fucking (i think), full nelson, etc.
“‘kuna?” you call out in his dark chambers, a chill creeping through the air. he already knew you were coming. stepping inside, you see dimly lit torches flickering against the cold, ancient stone, illuminating his crafted throne where he sits, a vision of beauty in his white kimono.
“‘kuna, what’s wrong?” you ask, feigning concern as his unsettling presence fills the room. his gaze is fixed elsewhere, and the two guards at his side look at you with barely concealed anger. you saunter closer, your heels echoing against the concrete floor as you ascend the steps to stand before him.
he’s mad. he barely acknowledges you, confusion swirling in your mind as you try to understand his sudden shift in demeanor.
“have I done something to upset you?” your voice drops, scanning his face for any sign of distress.
“what have you not done?” his low voice echoes ominously through the chambers, sending a shiver down your spine. you step back, taken aback by his tone, racking your brain for anything that might have provoked him.
“please, explain,” you plead, taking one of his massive hands in yours, feeling the heat radiate from him. all four of his crimson eyes fixate on you, piercing through the tension.
“I saw you too close to that scum,” he grits out, his expression darkening. your brows furrow as you think of who he’s referring to.
oh.
the guard.
you giggle, brushing it off as you reassure him you were just doing your duties around the estate, completely ignoring his darkening aura.
“if you really want that lowlife, then go,” he snaps, his eyes beginning to glow, a clear sign of his fury. your heart races, offended by his comment as he pushes your hand away. “leave,” he commands, and your heart sinks—what have you done to deserve this?
you nod, turning to walk away, but just before you can exit, you catch his attention. his ears perk up, listening intently as you toss out your final words.
“maybe I will fuck him—let us know if you’re willing to watch.”
with that, sukuna rises from his throne, a terrifying presence. you’ve truly provoked the king of curses.
shit.
“you think this is funny, woman,” sukuna growls in your ear as a pair of his hands drew you close, wrapping his arms securely around you, pinning your arms behind your head as your legs are dangling in the air- locking you in place. the warmth of his body envelop you as your back is tightly pressed against his broad chest. his thrusts are inhumane as your whole body bounces with every thrust as he has you on full display for anyone to walk in his chambers.
your poor cunt sobbing out loud cries as you’ve barely took him in whole. you rest your head on his shoulder as you’re panting loudly, pleading for him to slow down but it quickens his pace. his lower cock hitting your sensitive cunt as sukuna chuckles- enjoying your sobs- as sick as he is, it’s an encouragement. his other pair of hands play with your swollen clit with a playful smack! and your fondling with your sore breasts as he takes your nipples in between his fingers, pulling and pinching as it gives a new wave of pleasure that has you curling your toes in the air.
“how many times do ya’ run that mouth, huh? is there anything up there?” he laughs in your ear as you whine, everything’s too much for you that all you could do is nod.
“yeaaa there nothing there, my little fuck toy,” he rasps as your walls spasm around the delicious girth- his cock filling you up to the brim
“do you think this sloppy pussy craves that guard hmm? is she as nasty as you are?” he taunts as he slaps your cunt twice. you sob loudly as more tears spill from your eyes— your cunt tightening around his length as his brow quirks up.
“you fuckin’ slut—“ he growls as he’s now speaking to your pussy as a mouth forms on his hand as he hovers it against your cunt— his tongue sucking on your clit as you start babbling nonsense. the combination of his thrusts and new stimulations send electricity through your body as you feel your orgasm approaching fast. sukuna removes his hand aww from your cunt as rough pace does not stop. sukuna grabs the base of his lower cock- parting your slick folds as a sinful thought comes to mind. he darkly chuckles behind you as his thrusts come to a brief stop- giving you time to take a breather as he still remains himself deep in your pussy.
“let’s test and see if she can handle another one, hmm?”

𝒮ynopsis: jason todd is a yearner & a true lover boy. when he loves, he loves hard yet quietly. he doesn’t express his affection through grand gestures but through the little things▰remembering your favorite song lyrics, the exact shade of your favorite color, & writing love letters he’ll never send because he’s too shy.
even though he’s already in a relationship with you, he still feels the butterflies whenever you're around. during gotham’s chaotic nights, while patrolling the city, he finds himself missing your touch, longing for your presence. even in the middle of his hardest missions, his thoughts always drift back to you▰wondering what small gift he can bring home just to see you smile.

gotham never sleeps.
nor does jason.
it’s been one of those nights▰the kind where criminals seem to crawl out of their skin to horrify citizens once more, where no matter how many heads he cracks, there’s always another fight waiting around the corner. his knuckles are sore beneath his gloves, guns being out of bullets, his ribs ache from a particularly nasty hit, & the sting of fresh cuts lingers across his skin.
still, none of that is what’s bothering him.
he sits on the ledge of a building, letting out a deep sigh, his view of the city blurred through smoky neon below. he should go back now, but he waits, holds his breath, looks down into the streets, limned in dim light, & stares & stares, & stares.
this weight in his chest is unfamiliar, yet so painfully recognizable.
he's always been the guy to carry his burdens alone, shouldering the consequences that comes with being red hood without complaint. but ever since you walked into his life▰sweet, soft, full of warmth in a way gotham could never be▰ things have changed.
his fingers twitch,& he reaches into the inside pocket of his jacket. he doesn't have to look. he knows.
a note.
one of several, in fact.
he writes them when the nights feel like they stretch into forever & when the silence weighs too much on his chest. little notes he can never possibly say to you. this note is no different. folded neatly, shoved between the worn pages of an old book carried around in the pocket▰words he'll never give to you, yet still can't let himself get rid of.
some people would throw anything they did that are considered embarrassing, but no, not jason.
"you looked cute today. i wanted to tell you, but i figured you already knew."
"i stole your lip gloss again. smells like blueberries. reminds me of you."
it's stupid, he tells himself. you're right there in his life. he sees you every day▰watches you hum to yourself while fixing your hair(sometimes he'd help by brushing your hair using his fingers), twirling a ribbon between your fingers(he'd also participate in this activity, claiming it to be “stupid” but won't refuse, not when you seem to enjoying yourself so much), picking out outfits with that soft, thoughtful expression he's come to love(you convinced him to match sanrio pjs once, he didn't rebuff the idea). you don't belong in the shadows like he does. you're all bows & butterflies, a contrast so complete it should have driven him away.
but it didn't.
it never could.
jason breathes, smoothing his hair with a gloved hand. he should go home. he should crawl into bed, let you fuss over his injuries, pretend he doesn't love the way your hands linger just a little longer when you patch him up.
instead, he finds himself moving▰leaping across rooftops, scanning the streets for something(other than crime). he's not even sure what he's looking for, only that the ache in his chest won't settle until he finds something to bring back to you.
it's a habit he's never acknowledged out loud.
some men bring their girls flowers. others bring chocolates, jewelry, grand gestures that scream their affections for the world to see.
jason todd?
he brings gotham to you.
not in the way it brings bloodshed and violence▰no, never that. but in the little things. trinkets he finds on his patrols, things that make him think of you. a pressed flower growing between the cracks of an old building. a charm bracelet abandoned in a crime scene alleyway.
once, he even found a small, tattered bunny plushie, barely holding together. he cleaned it up, stitched it as well as he could, & just put it on your dresser and left without saying anything.
you never asked him where it came from. you only smiled, kissed his cheek, & said, "he looks well-loved."
jason had to get out of the room after that.
tonight, he sees something that lines one of the fringes of crime alley▰a small street vendor selling handmade trinkets at barely subsistence living. most people don't even give him a glance anymore, being so wrapped up in their problems that they don't care.
there's a necklace resting among the clutter, the kind of thing he can imagine you wearing▰a small pendant in the shape of a crescent moon, subtle yet elegant. he doesn't think twice before pulling out a few crumpled bills(that is probably two times higher than it's price), handing them over without a word.
the vendor barely gets a chance to thank him before he's gone.
by the time he returns to your apartment it's late▰by two in the morning, or at least in gotham; all is quieter & yet not silently so. there is no point in knocking. he slips through the window, sliding in, again, moving silent as a phantom as he reaches the apartment's floor.
a view awaits to knock the air from his breath.
you sleep on the couch, all bundled up in that soft blanket. the tv hums away on the opposite side of the room, highlights light shadows on your face. on your lap lies a book open to one side, as though you had fallen asleep waiting for him to show up.
jason swallows, a warmth moving into his chest. his stomach▰no▰his entire soul feels warm.
he's gentle as he moves, settling beside you without waking you. his fingers brush against your cheek, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. you stir slightly at the touch, murmuring his name in your sleep, & he bites back a soft curse, heart aching at how easily you trust him.
how easily you love him.
he never deserved someone like you.
yet, here you are.
by his side, as you call his name every now & then.
his eyes fall to the small bag in his hands, the necklace still inside. for a moment, he hesitates, deciding whether to give it to you now or wait until morning.
in the end, he puts it on the coffee table, placing it beside your book where you'll see it first thing when you wake up. a small note beside it, written in his messy handwriting.
"saw this & thought of you. sleep well, sweetheart."
he doesn't sign it. he doesn't need to.
you'll know.
jason settles back, his own exhaustion finally gaining the upper hand. he needs to get up, shower, take care of the bruises he's been pretending aren't an issue. but as you turn in your sleep, reaching instinctively for him, curling up closer to his side with a soft little sigh.
yeah.
he can spend a little while like this.
Tumblr media
the clock on the wall ticks.
it's late.
too late.
you change positions on the couch, adjusting your blanket over your shoulders & looking at the clock once again. jason would have been back by now. you know not to worry. he has lived through worse nights, fought against deadly criminals, walked away from things that would kill another man. yet still, a sense of anxiety clings to you, curling inside your stomach like a knot that feels like it's squeezing your insides.
with a sigh, you again let your eyes fall back to the book in your lap, fingers tracing the worn edges of the pages. it's one of jason's, a novel he left on the shelf ages ago & never reclaimed. you aren't even really reading at this point▰just skimming, letting the words blur together while your mind focuses somewhere else.
to him.
to the little things he does that he thinks you don't notice.
like how he keeps your hair ties even though he swears he doesn't.
or how he always makes sure there's an extra blanket on your side of the bed.
or▰your favorite▰how he writes things in his books.
you found it by accident, months ago. a dog-eared page in one of his old novels, words scrawled in the margins in his distinctive, messy handwriting. you thought at first it was just notes▰random thoughts about the plot, maybe something important he wanted to remember. basically him annotating.
but then you read it.
"she was humming today, while she made tea. low, silent. i believe that was that tune she is very much so partial to, that one she uses every time she is styling her hair. she did not appear to have been aware, but i did. i always am."
you had almost dropped the book, your heart flopping in your chest.
since then, you've turned it into a silly game. you pretend you don't notice the tiny notes he scatters around, but secretly, you live for when you stumble on them.
you know there is one in this book. you haven't discovered it yet, but just the idea of it makes you giddy, titter softly & warmth rising like a volcano about to erupt.
he doesn't even realize you know.
it's so jason▰loving quietly, loving deeply, but never really saying it outright. he'll not say one word on being away for that patrol but have you notice some folded paper with the message tucked into his jacket pocket while out doing laundry. he will never tell you, outright say it to your face that you're pretty, but he would watch you style your hair with gazes soft & lingering.
what is he writing tonight?
(something romantic, obviously.)
if he's sat atop some height of gotham, breathing between fights, scribbling thoughts of you into some old notebook while the city, loud.
"i miss her."
"i wish i could bring her here once to see this view."
"do you think she'd be angry with me for taking her lip gloss again? nah. worth the risk."
you are smiling at the thought, worrying in your ribs.
he'll be home soon. he always comes home.
the television, rapid of brightness, a bright glow over the room. your eyes begin to feel more heavy, the weariness of waiting finally settling into your bones. you tell yourself you'll stay awake, just a little longer. just until you hear the familiar creak of the window, the soft thud of his boots against the floor.
you never make it that far.
sleep pulls you down, the book slipping slightly in your lap, the soft sounds of the city fading into nothing.
Tumblr media
you don't know how long you've been out when you feel it.
a shift in the air. the presence of someone near.
it doesn't surprise you▰not in the way that it should. instead, your body relaxes instinctively, as if it knows before your mind is quite awake.
a warmth beside you. a familiar scent. leather, gunpowder, the faintest trace of something you.
you stir, barely conscious, mumbling his name before you can stop yourself.
"jay..?"
a pause. a sharp inhale. then, a hand▰warm, calloused, careful▰brushing against your cheek, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
you sigh at the touch, sinking into it even as sleep tries to drag you back down.
there's such a long silence before he talks, his voice quieter than ever.
"yeah, sweetheart. it's me."
you want to wake up all the way now, want to sit up straight & fuss over him like you always do. ask if he's hurt; ask if he's eaten anything; ask if tonight was one of the bad ones. but this exhaustion is heavy, pulling you down like an anchor.
you are barely aware of the way he shifts beside you, settling, the weight of his presence grounding you even into sleep.
you hear nothing in the end except the soft sound of something landing on the table▰the clinking of metal and the faint scratch of paper across wood.
& jason's whisper, barely loud enough to hear.
"missed you."
Tumblr media
the sunlight arrives▰uninvited▰through the curtains & warms your skin as you blink awake. the tv remains on, a late-night movie in reruns, hanging precariously in the corner of your head.
the book has shifted slightly, now perched on the edge of the couch.
oh, & your beloved jason is still here.
he's half-asleep beside you, one arm draped over the back of the couch, the other resting loosely against his stomach. he looks tired▰more than usual▰but there's a peace in his expression that makes your heart ache.
slowly, careful not to wake him, you stretch▰only to freeze when your eyes land on the coffee table.
a small bag. a delicate necklace, its crescent moon pendant catching the morning light.
& a note.
your breath catches as you reach for it, fingers ghosting over the familiar, messy handwriting. jason's messy handwriting.
"saw this & thought of you. sleep well, sweetheart."
a smile tugs at your lips, warmth once again spreading through your chest.
you glance at jason, still asleep, still him.
& then, giggling softly to yourself, you reach for the book in your lap, flipping through the pages.
there’s definitely another note hidden in here somewhere.
& you can’t wait to find it.
Tumblr media
"she keeps looking at me like that. like i’m something worth holding onto."
"she touches me like i won’t shatter. like i won’t ruin everything the second she gets too close."
"i don’t know how to explain it. it’s in the way she speaks to me, the way she laughs, the way she reaches for my hand without thinking. she doesn’t hesitate. not with me. no one's ever done that before. no one except her."
"i think▰"
there’s a pause. the sentence breaks off, like he wasn’t sure he should continue. like the truth was something too heavy to write down.
& then, softer, almost like an afterthought:
"she's too good. too bright. too much like the kind of thing a man like me should never be allowed to have."
"but gods, i want to.”
if jason peter todd isn't a hopeless romantic, then what is he?

modern au where you accidentally send ellie, your bestfriend, a nude
pt 2 here , pt3 here pt4 here
"fuuuuuck"
that can't be happening.
"fuck fuck fuck" you scream "oh my god fuck me"
your fingers move across the screen trying to delete the photo but it's too late when you see that ellie has already seen it.
"im going to kill myself" you say "oh my god this can't be happening"
you almost threw the phone across the room the moment you heard the sound of a new message. and another. and another.
"please god i know i don't believe in you but help me" you whisper looking at your ceiling with your hands in prayer pose.
you can't be that stupid. there's no way you would have sent that picture to ellie, your best-fucking-friend in the whole world and the person you would fight for.
you want to create a hole in the floor so you can crawl in there and never come out again in your life.
ellieee: weird way to say hello but ok
ellieee: im pretty sure this was for another person
ellieee: i knew you weren't a saint
your fingers start typing as fast as they can, forming an extreme amount of sorry's.
me: IM SORRYW
me: I TRIED TO DELETE IT
me: IT WAS AN ERROR
me: MY OHONE JUST GLICHED AND I PRESS THE WRONG PHOTO
me: IM EMBARRASSED PLEASE BLOCK MY NUMBER FOR WVER
me: IM SO SORRY
you were about to send ellie a flyer of a band you like to go to this weekend but something weird happened with your phone that got stuck and you accidentally selected the picture next to it, which to your misfortune was a picture of your naked breasts covered only by your forearm, a picture you took a few hours before when you were feeling bored. by the time you realized what your phone had made you do, you had already pressed send.
you wanted to smash your head against the asphalt.
ellieee: it's okay
ellieee: i told you that you have to fix that phone
elieee: it's got a demon inside
you are quick to answer her, dying of embarrassment.
me: i will now
me: im sorry
me: im so embarrassed
a few seconds later you see how your cell phone shows that ellie is typing.
ellieee: don't be
ellieee: it was kinda hot

Tumblr media
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Benny mumbles as you dodge his kiss. “What now?”
Not even five minutes ago, this man was basically teasing you about your jealousy, and now he has the audacity to be confused. You didn’t want to admit the fact that you were jealous of his ex, but it’s Benny – when he wants an answer he’ll make sure he gets it.
You’re not really angry, just slightly embarrassed, so you feel like being petty because why not?
“Nothing, I told you I was tired,” you tell him as you move away from the counter and out of his grasp.
Benny blinks a few times, confused, because he thought he had just resolved the problem that had caused your bitchy attitude.
The tea you had made before Benny interrupted you in the kitchen is now cold, so you pour the tea out and place the cup into the sink before leaving the kitchen. You make a quick stop at the front door to make sure it’s locked before making your way upstairs with Benny hot on your tail.
“I know when you’re tired and this,” he gestures to you, “is not it.”
“Well, it looks like you don’t know me that well then because I am tired,” you shoot him a glare, turning the bedroom light off as soon as you enter the room. Benny comes in behind you and immediately turns the light back on.
You make a move to walk over to your side of the bed, but Benny stops you. He grabs your arm to pull you towards him before pushing you back onto the bed. You roll your eyes making sure to keep your annoyed expression – you’re going to keep up this facade for as long as you can.
You use your hands to crawl backwards towards the headboard, but again, Benny interrupts your plans. He grabs you at your ankles and pulls you back towards him at the bottom of the bed. When you try to move again, his grip tightens on your ankles.
“Let me go,” you say.
“I know what you’re doing,” he tells you, voice low. He places a knee in between your legs, moving a hand up your body as he moves to hover over you before placing his hands on either side of your head.
Stay strong.
“Really? Enlighten me, then,” you raise your eyebrows as you look up at him, folding your arms across your chest.
“I don’t have to tell you what you already know, sweetheart. You’re not dumb," Benny smirks down at you.
“You know, I’m in the perfect position to knee you right between your legs, right?” you question.
Benny ignores your remark as he moves to travel south. “Since you wanna play games, I don’t mind playing along, but I’m gonna have to add a couple of rules.”
“What are you doing?” you ask as you follow him with your eyes as he places his face in front of your covered pussy. You feel yourself throb as he teasing rubs a hand on your thigh.
Benny playfully tilts his head. “What? Isn’t this what you wanted?”
As Benny moves back to pull your pajama shorts and underwear down your legs, you try to keep your breathing steady.
“No,” you say firmly, but it was a lie. Even though you weren’t exactly planning to end up in this position, you knew this is how Benny liked to deal with you when you had an attitude.
You watch as Benny moves back to pull you pajama shorts and underwear slowly down your legs. There was a small patch of arousal starting to form in your panties, which caused it to stick to your cunt as Benny pulled them away from you. The corners of his mouth twitched as he notices how wet you are already.
“You sure about that?” he asks as he looks up at you. You breathe in sharply as you feel Benny rub a thumb up and down your already sticky folds. “Because what I’m seeing right now is telling me something completely different.”
Stay strong.
You have to clench your jaw and close your eyes when Benny presses down onto your clit, his eyes watching your every move. You open your mouth to say something but immediately close it when Benny presses again, this time drawing tight circles.
“Nothing to say? You had so much to say just a second ago, what happened?”
You open your mouth to try to speak again, but you again get interrupted when Benny presses down on your clit again, stopping you from speaking on purpose.
What a prick.
“You don’t have to answer that, baby, I already know,” he smiles. “But what you do have to do is stay quiet for me because, like you said, this isn’t what you wanted, so you obviously won’t be enjoying this.”
Benny suddenly moves his hand down and pushes a finger into you, your slick cunt making it easy to glide in. Your clit is only abandoned for a second before he uses his other hand to give it attention.
His pace is slow and tantalizing as he thrusts his finger in and out of you. You have to bite your lip when Benny adds a second finger inside of you, curling his fingers into your walls, but when his fingers find that special spot, an involuntary moan leaves your lips.
Benny’s fingers immediately stop as his eyes leave your cunt to look up at you. “I said be quiet, remember?”
He waits for you to nod before continuing, but this time he adds his mouth to the mix. You feel his tongue glide across you before using his mouth to add suction to your clit. Your hips jerk at the feeling.  The speed of his fingers gradually increase, making the sounds escaping your soaked cunt to become louder and louder.
Your resolve is quickly diminishing, making it harder to stay quiet as Benny’s lips attack you. You feel the need to grab onto something, so you finally uncross your arms to grab onto the blanket.
Benny stops again. “No, no, no. You wanted to be petty and fold your arms like you’re tryna to prove something, so keep them folded.”
You let out a whimper, but do as he says. He sends you a look, silently telling you to be quiet, before starting up his fingers again and reattaching his lips. Since you can’t grab onto the bed, you dig your nails into folded arms. You want to scream.
As you feel yourself reaching the end of this tortuous climb, it all becomes too much. Your hips buck away from his face and you try to close your legs, causing Benny to use his unoccupied hand to grab onto one of your thighs to keep you spread. His fingers move even faster inside of your tight, wet hole, and you might actually pass out.
When you tumble over the edge and cum, your eyes roll as your hands move to grip the bed again. Fuck Benny. He uses your fingers to work you through your orgasm, constantly rubbing against that spot along your walls. Your walls are closing around Benny’s fingers, but he doesn’t care, enjoying the way your cunt spasms and flutters and the way your wetness covers his hand. Your back arches as you grind yourself against his face, your head falling back against the bed.
As you begin to come down from your high, you notice Benny not slowing down.
“Benny!” you squeak out as you try to move your hips away.
You try to crawl back, but that doesn’t stop Benny, he just follows your hips as you move. Suddenly you feel yourself gush, squirting onto his face and forcing his fingers out of you. The fabric below you quickly becomes soaked with your mess. Benny quickly rubs his fingers across your clit, prolonging your squirting.
“God, please!” you plead as you continue to try to get out of his grasp. “Benny!”
Benny hums into you as he wraps his arms around your shaking thighs to keep you glued to him. Your legs close around his head as the feeling vibrates through your body.
Benny eventually stops and allows you to push his head away from you. You quickly close your legs as Benny uses his hand to wipe your mess from his face with a laugh. Your chest heaves up and down as you try to catch your breath, your body trembling.
While you try to calm down, Benny stands up to remove his sweatpants and tank top. You catch a glance of a spot of precum on the fabric of his underwear, before he pulls that down to, letting his hard cock free. This is far from over.
You body feels limp, so you put up no resistance when Benny comes back to hover you and pulls your tank top over your head. Then, he moves to position himself between your legs, and begins to rub his cock against your sticky folds. Your body twitches and you let out a small moan at the action.
“What’s wrong, are you too sensitive?” Benny fake pouts above you, and you don’t have the energy to snap back at him. All you can do is moan in response. “That’s too bad because I haven’t had my release yet. You can take another round, though, right baby?”
He smirks as you glare up at him, but the expression is quickly wiped from your face as he pushes his cock into you. You throw your head back into the bed as your mouth opens to make a noise, but all that comes out is a silence.
Benny groans as he sets his pace inside of you – slow and deep. He grabs ahold of your thighs to prevent them from closing and to help him push inside of you. He looks down at the spot where the two of you are connected to take in the sight of your soaked opening sucking him in. A creamy ring can also be seen forming at the base of his cock
“Fuck,” you whimper.
“I can’t believe you got jealous of Kay, baby. I mean you, of all people, should know where my heart is,” Benny taunts. “You’re my good girl, isn’t that right?”
You grab a hold of a pillow that’s been tossed to the side as you arch your back. Your eyes are closed and your thighs are shaking as Benny continues his deep thrusts inside of you. He knows exactly what you like and what you need, which is why he decided to use a slow pace to torture you.
Then there’s a rough thrust. He gently caresses one of your thighs as a punched out moan leaves you. “I asked you a question, baby.”
“Yes!” you cry out.
“Yes what?” he asks.
“I’m your good girl.”
“Yeah you are. My sweet, sweet girl.”
Oh my god.
Benny grabs a hold of your hands and lowers it to your stomach and presses down. It’s almost enough to make you come on the spot.
And you do, causing Benny to laugh as he watches your body convulse.
“You’re the one I’m inside of, baby,” he groans, his voice husky, with his hand still on your stomach.
You clench down around him at his words, causing him to groan. He closes his eyes for a second to collect himself, before opening them back up. Benny then leans down to hover over you, wrapping his arms around your body to help him go even deeper. His head moves to drop into your neck, his hot breath fanning against you.
You think your eyes might get stuck in the back of your head.
“Your pussy is the only one I look forward to having around me,” he whispers into your ear. “Do you know that?”
“Yes, Benny!”
You can hear the remains of your precious orgasm causing a squishing and squelching sound to leave your dripping cunt. You can feel some of your mess leaking down and onto the already damp blanket beneath. You feel Benny’s deep moan fill your ear.
“You sure because it didn’t seem that way earlier,” he tells you.
Fuck his ex. Well, maybe you should be saying thank you at the moment.
You feel like you’re holding onto for dear life.
“I do, I do, I do,” you answer breathlessly, your eyelids heavy.
He pulls his head away from your neck to place a sloppy, wet kiss against your lips. You’re too far gone to do anything but let out a needy whimper into his mouth.
“I belong only to you, ain’t that right?” he mumbles against your lips.
All you can say is, “Uh huh,” while giving him a nod.
Benny notices your distant expression and grabs your head into his hands, making you look him in the eyes while he continues to rock into you.
“Look at you, so gorgeous. No one compares to you. Wanna make you mine officially, wanna marry you,” he tells you. You shudder against him. “You like that idea, huh?”
You nod again.
“Use your words, sweetheart,” he smirks.
“Yes,” you manage to say.
“I know you do,” he tells you.
Eventually you feel his thrusts get needy and more sloppy, his hold on you becoming tighter.
“Wanna make you mine,” he repeats, his head back in the crook of your neck as he pounds into your overly sensitive cunt. Your body is limp, a constant string of noises leaving your lips, but you can feel drool dribbling out the side of your mouth. “Wanna make you mine.”
Benny snakes his hand between your two bodies, landing on your clit. Your body jerks at the feeling. “Are you gonna give me another one, sweetheart,” he pants as he rubs circles into you.
He fucks you deeper into the mattress, humping you with need.
“No, I can’t!” you pathetically cry out.
“Yes, you can,” he grunts, and when he gets no response, he says, “that’s my girl.”
You feel your third orgasm quickly approaching, “Please, Benny, please,” you moan.
“I got you,” he tells you.
Suddenly your walls are clamping around him, and you're gushing, your squirt coming out with every thrust. Your body arches up into him as Benny chases his own high. You're a trembling wet mess underneath him.
Then you feel Benny throbbing inside of you, your repeated clenching throwing him over the edge. When he pulls out, you shudder, causing Benny to give you a quick sorry.
He collapses with his head on your stomach, and the two of you lay in a comfortable silence. The room is filled with nothing but heavy breaths, until you decide to speak up. There’s a serious question running through your mind.
“Do you actually wanna marry me?” you ask as you look down at him, your hands in his hair.
“Yeah,” Benny nods with a genuine smile, then adds, “I kinda have to after all this, don’t you think?”
You give him a look as you find the energy to hit him with a pillow. He quickly sits up and stops you from hitting his face with a laugh.
“You know i'm just kiddin’,” he smiles.

Tumblr media
It’s too warm.
As a princess born and raised in the land of Pyro, you’re accustomed to heat—thrive in it, even. It’s one of the reasons you dread trips like these so much. Foreign nations, even those with the mildest of temperatures, tend to feel a bit too chilly for your taste. Your father often jokes that you could withstand the heat of the Sacred Flame itself.
At the moment, though, you wouldn’t mind cracking open a window or two, even in the dead of winter.
The journey here had been difficult enough, boring as it was. Kinich had threatened to leave you alone in the woods a few times if you kept poking at him, but it was all you could do to not fall asleep. Attending foreign dinners always resulted in long journeys like these, though you know how important it is to maintain close relations with allied countries.
A few bumps in the road made this trek especially long, however—a number of bandits and blocked off paths added an irritating amount of time to your travel, until you and Kinich decided to rest for the night before heading home tomorrow. It had been difficult to even find a place—most inns had been full by this time, but you’d been fortunate to find one with a single open room.
A single, open room containing a single, solitary bed.
That aside, it’s a nice enough room, really. The dark mahogany furniture is carved with intricate nature-like patterns, flowers and leaves that crawl up the legs of the chairs and the foot of the bed. The whole place smells pleasantly of teakwood—a scent that, for better or worse, you tend to attribute to Kinich.
Your knight sits in front of the darkened fireplace, fiddling with a flint until it strikes with a small flame, then enkindles the rest of the wood. A flushing warmth instantly permeates the room. Usually, you would thank him for his efforts—he knows how cold you get—but now, you feel a thin sweat forming at your brow.
Kinich stands, brushing off his hands and admiring the firelight. The lighter strands of his hair glow in its radiance. “That should last us for a bit.”
He tugs at the clasp of his cloak, pulling the garment off and tossing it onto the chair in the corner of the room. It’s a thick fur with ornate green and gold trim; you’d given it to him as a gift during the Winter Festival a year ago. You let your eyes follow the motion, watching the dark cloth drape over the furniture—somehow, you feel too awkward to look at your companion right now. He glances at you, as if wondering what you’re doing just standing there, but doesn’t comment on it.
“Actually, I’m a bit warm,” you say, thumbing at the edges of your sleeves. Kinich raises a brow, genuinely concerned.
“...It’s wintertime,” he says, an obvious statement that seems to ask what the hell is wrong with you.
“Yeah, and I’m warm,” you retort, arms crossed. He looks at you, then looks at the fire, then looks at you again.
“Alright, but if you get cold later, don’t come crying to me,” he says, kneeling down again. Then, under his breath, he mutters, “though I have a feeling you will anyway.”
He toys with the kindling for a bit longer, until the raging flames die into smaller embers and the room cools down. As much as he gives you a hard time, he prioritizes your comfort as much as he possibly can.
With the temperature now taken care of, there is still one other source of discomfort in the room, you think, glancing back toward the bed. It looks temptingly comfortable, with thick sheets and fluffy pillows, but you can’t fathom sleeping in it at the moment.
“You realize that we can’t sleep here, right?” you say, staring down at your feet.
The dark-haired knight is busy rummaging through his rucksack, only half paying attention to what you’re saying.
“I don’t see why not. The bed is big enough.”
He’s right; it’s a king-size, and the two of you would have no problem fitting. Still, the thought of sleeping in a bed with him makes your face warm in a way that can’t be blamed on the fire.
“...There’s only one,” you manage.
Kinich looks up at you, deadpan. “An astute observation. Maybe you’ll be able to count to three by next year.”
“You little—”
The nervousness turns to irritation at his nonchalance—honestly, the thought of sharing a bed with a man you aren’t married to seems a bit inappropriate. And though you won’t admit it, you’re a bit offended that he doesn’t seem even slightly nervous to sleep with you. Kinich isn’t a nervous person by nature, that’s true; it takes quite a bit to get him to show any sort of strong emotion. But a small part of you is disappointed that he doesn’t seem to care about the situation at all.
“You realize it’s just us, right?” you say, urging him toward the root of the issue. Even just stating that fact makes an anxious lump form in your throat.
Kinich considers your words for a moment, pausing his ministrations, before meeting your gaze directly.
“I’m not going to do anything to you,” he says, raising a brow.
The implication makes your face heat up, and you find it almost worse that he had addressed the elephant in the room.
“It’s not that!” you argue hastily. Kinich seems unbothered by your protests, fiddling with the intricate straps of his armor and the laces of his boots. He works about removing them in a fashion that’s so robotic that you’re sure he must’ve done this millions of times.
“What is it then?” he retorts, glancing at you out of the corner of his eye. “Do you snore?”
“I do not—”
“Sleep talk?”
“No, it’s just—”
“Sleepwalk?”
“No! But—”
“Great,” Kinich decides, clapping his hands together as if to end the discussion. Rising to his feet, he gestures to the bed, even going so far as to pull the blankets back invitingly. “Then sleep.”
It’s hard for you to win against him, especially at times like these—truth be told, you actually are quite tired. With a huff, you begrudgingly climb into bed, nearly hanging off the edge with the ample space you leave.
Kinich doesn’t join you yet; he’s still fixing his clothes and tidying his other belongings. He takes good care of his things, you’ve noticed, almost neat to a fault. There’s a strict routine he follows during the night; before bed, he always takes special care to maintain his weapon.
You watch as he oils and sharpens his blade, brow furrowed in concentration. He’s always been very particular about the thing, as if it was an extension of himself, as long as you've known him. His movements are notably precise and intricate, and overwhelmingly gentle. Lost in watching him, you just about jump out of your skin when his eyes suddenly flicker to you.
“You know, most people rest with their eyes closed,” he hums, amused at having caught you in the act.
“You’re annoying,” you mumble, sinking deeper into the pillows to hide your embarrassment.
He shakes his head. “And you’re supposed to be sleeping. So I guess no one’s happy.”
You pull the blanket up until it brushes your chin. You don’t need it; your skin feels like it’s on fire, but somehow it feels too vulnerable to be uncovered right now.
“You’re telling me you don’t feel weird about this? At all?”
He sets the sword aside and finally removes the last of his armor, simply left in his training tunic and loose pants. The shirt is tighter than you remember, you think briefly. You force yourself to look away.
“Should I?” he asks, brushing off his clothes. “Are you going to do something to me?”
The corner of his lip twitches, and you nearly roll your eyes—he amuses himself way too much.
“No!”
“Then we’ll make a deal. I won’t do anything to you if you don’t do anything to me. Then, we’ll both peacefully sleep so that I don’t have to deal with your crankiness in the morning.”
Irritatingly, he’s right about that too. The two of you will have to head out early if you want to make it home for your lessons, as well as Kinich’s other guard duties. And, truthfully, you don’t tend to be a morning person—it’s all Kinich can do to even wake you up on time.
You huff, shutting your eyes. “Fine.”
“Oh?” You can hear the mirth in his voice, and it only makes your irritation grow. “So you were planning on doing somethin—”
“I wasn’t!”
Kinich doesn’t say anything more, likely sensing that you’re on the precipice of genuine frustration—he always knows your exact limits, even when you don’t say so.
For a few minutes, you really do try to sleep. But your heart is still pounding, and as much as you try to ignore it, it threatens to burst out of your chest. You reason that you would feel this way no matter who you were sharing a bed with—it’s just not a feeling that you’re used to. It’s certainly not because it’s Kinich.
You imagine him sleeping beside you, and your fists tighten until your nails form crescent-shaped imprints in your palms.
Definitely not because it’s Kinich.
Your stomach turns as you listen to your companion move around the room, organizing his things. Everything about him is so calm and quiet, including his footsteps—they’re barely a whisper across the floor. The anticipation nearly swallows you whole, and you wait for something to happen—the blankets to pull back, or even a dip in the mattress.
For several long, torturous minutes, nothing happens at all. In fact, you can’t even hear Kinich anymore, not even a single breath.
Did he leave the room?
Gathering your courage, you silently will yourself to open your eyes, afraid of what you’ll see. It takes you a bit, too absorbed in the awkwardness, and three silent mental countdowns later, your eyes finally snap open. Instantly, you discover two things:
Kinich is not in bed with you.
Kinich is nowhere near you at all.
Instead, the knight is sitting across the room, back against the door, head leaned back and both eyes shut. His greatsword lays across his lap, fingers already curled around the grip—he’s always ready, as usual.
“What the hell?”
You don’t mean for it to come out so loud or so aggressive, but your hand is too late to clamp over your mouth.
Kinich cracks one eye open, fixing you with a lazy stare.
“I thought you said you don’t sleep talk,” he murmurs, voice thick with exhaustion.
“I don’t—forget it, what are you doing over there?”
He sighs, pulling a knee to his chest and resting his chin on top. He looks much softer like this, in training clothes and lacking his headband—the curtain of his hair parts a bit as he leans over, and you catch a glimpse of the scar there. It’s thin and silver, barely peeking from his forehead.
“Unless I was mistaken, you seemed uncomfortable with the prospect of sharing a bed with me. I may not have been raised a prince, but even I wouldn’t force something like that on a lady.”
Your teeth sink into your lip. The explanation makes you feel stupid and guilty at the same time. Stupid, because you’re really not sure what you’re even afraid of if Kinich climbs into bed with you. Guilty, because you’d been so argumentative with him, even when he was trying to respect your wishes.
There’s three beats of silence.
“I changed my mind,” you manage to squeak out.
“You don’t have to,” he says, tracing the blade of his sword. An expected answer. “I’m fine sleeping here, really.”
And you know he really would be—he’s certainly slept in worse places. But something about him sleeping there while you warm up under thick blankets leaves a rotten taste in your mouth.
“Well, I’m cold now,” you say, shifting under the covers, “so can you come sleep?”
He looks unconvinced by your plea, head tilted. “Weren’t you the one who said it was too warm?”
You pout in reply. “I changed my mi—”
“—changed your mind, yeah, yeah, I get it.”
Kinich rises to his feet, slow and steady. He seems more tired than he lets on, likely the result of the events from earlier—he had been the one to deal with the bandits, after all. You merely watch as he strides toward you.
“Just remember, you’re the one who offered,” he warns, crossing to the other side of the bed. “So don’t kick me in your sleep.”
You don’t say anything at all, firmly fixated on staring at the wall—you don’t think you could stand to look at him right now. When the sheets get pulled back, you suck in a breath.
To your embarrassment, something warm draws up from your quick-beating heart as Kinich lies down behind you. You chalk it up to natural human reaction—you’ve never shared a bed with someone like this, after all. He’s gentle as he lays down, the mattress barely reacting to his movement. You squeeze your eyes shut as he adjusts, shifting the blankets and pillows, hoping he won’t sense your overwhelming nervousness.
“This okay?”
You chance a look in his direction. His eyes are half-lidded, heavy with sleep, but they seem to pierce right through you. He’s being very particular about the distance between you—close enough that you can feel a bit of his warmth, but far enough that none of your limbs are touching.
This is fine, you think to yourself, drawing in a long, slow breath. This is totally fine.
You nod meekly, and Kinich sighs, shuffling into a more comfortable position as you turn away.
“Good,” he murmurs, warm breath pooling at the back of your neck. It makes you shiver, somehow both relaxed and on-edge, even as he curls slightly closer to you. “Go to sleep then, Princess.”
He’ll be awake for a while, you know. He never goes to sleep before you do—even once you do, it’ll probably be another half an hour before he follows suit. The thought leaves you hyper-aware of his every breath.
So, for the next fifteen minutes, you lie awake, hopelessly thinking of the man laying next to you. And, for the next fifteen minutes, he lies awake too. Your mind grows foggy, begging for rest, but you still feel something tugging at your chest. You wonder if Kinich feels the same way.
“Kinich?” you finally whisper.
There’s a pause, like he’s deciding whether to reply seriously or to scold you for not sleeping. His voice comes out hoarse, a deep rumble from his chest.
“Yes, Princess?”
A yawn crawls out of your throat.
“...are you warm enough too…?”
Your voice trails off as you finally succumb to the clutches of sleep. Kinich listens as your breathing turns to an even rhythm, calm and serene. For once, he’s glad that you’re not looking at him—if you did, you would see the way his skin is flushed a deep red, from his ears to his neck.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, letting his eyes flutter shut. “I am.”

jeon jungkook - the price of desire (part six)
Tumblr media
warnings ; he’s on his knees for her <3, oral (f recieving)
prompt ; in which you learn that your dignity has a price, and unfortunately, it looks a lot like Jeon Jungkook in Calvin Klein boxers.
note ; two things. 1) this is the LONGEST part of tpod i think (might also be longest piece ive written in a fic so far.) and 2) if you don’t listen to guilty as sin on repeat while reading you are depriving yourself of an amazing reader experience. i don’t even know how we got here. one second she was yelling at him in a hallway, and the next she’s sleeping on his chest. godspeed to these idiots. they’re not surviving this. (also!!! there are a ton of nods to korean culture in this part, and i consulted some of my korean friends for this but please excuse any inaccuracies, i am just a wee little hispanic girl)

You feel sick.
Not like, “Oh no, I need electrolytes and sleep” sick. This is existential sick. Your organs are staging a coup and your soul is clenching in protest. Sure, your body aches, your temples are pounding, your limbs feel like wet cement, and your eyes burn from lack of sleep but that’s the surface-level stuff. That’s the kind of sickness you can fix with ibuprofen and a nap.
This ailment seeps into your bones. It hits you every time you close your eyes and see him again: his mouth, his hands, the way you let it happen not once but twice, like you had no self-respect or higher brain function whatsoever.
It’s that part that makes you want to unzip your skin and crawl out of it.
The first time was a fluke. A stress-induced catastrophe you swore you’d bury six feet under.
But then you did it again with full awareness and zero hesitation, like a woman possessed.
Now it’s as if your inner compass has spun a few degrees off course. You’ve crossed some invisible, irreversible line, and no amount of denial can rewind the tape.
You haven’t slept or eaten. Every time you try to focus on an email, a pitch deck, even something as simple as drinking coffee, your brain decides, “Hey, remember that time you moaned his name in a trailer?”
You actually haven’t seen him since that day. You’ve been dodging him like a coward, like some freshly heartbroken intern who can’t handle a one-night stand.
If you were smart like your two higher education degrees said you were, you would strut into that next meeting like nothing happened, as if he were just another brand ambassador. Like your panties didn’t hit the floor faster than your standards.
But every time you try to channel that version of yourself, the one who takes no shit and always wins, something inside you flinches.
You try and go back to your default setting. You sit through meetings with a frozen smile and fraying nerves, pretending like you’re not unraveling at the seams. You even let your team drag you out for drinks, which frankly, should’ve won you an Oscar for pretending to be fun.
Recently, being around people makes your skin itch. The laughter is too loud, lights too bright. All you can think about is how to not think about him.
Late at night, the guilt creeps in. Mostly because deep down, you know this isn’t just about you. For all the ways Jungkook is reckless and infuriating, you know he doesn’t deserve to be treated like some regrettable error code in your system.
Yet, that’s what you did when you left that trailer with no explanation. You ghosted him like he was the mistake, as if it wasn’t you who wanted him just as badly.
Somehow, that realization stings more than the memory itself.
It’s fine. You’ll figure it out. You have to. Otherwise, if it goes on a second longer, you’re not sure there’ll be anything left of you to come back to.
All this to say — you should’ve known this day was coming. Should’ve seen it cresting on the horizon like a storm you pretended wouldn’t reach you.
The second you step into the sleek, glass-walled conference room, Calvin Klein execs already seated, you go still.
Jungkook is seated in one of the chairs in a black T-shirt, silver rings, the glint of his bracelets catching in the fluorescent light.
You swear when your heels click across the floor, his fingers pause on the rim of his water bottle.
You don’t dare look at him. For one long, silent, bone-melting second, no one says a word. Then, as if summoned by the gods, Daniel drops into the seat beside you. His expression: the human equivalent of a side-eye emoji.
You ignore him, letting out an exhale and flipping open your laptop like this is just another Tuesday (It actually is.)
The meeting starts, the campaign rundown begins… and your body is here physically. But your mind is trying not to flinch every time Jungkook shifts in his chair and failing not to notice how quiet he’s being.
“Jungkook,” one of the execs says, flipping through mock-ups, “we wanted to confirm, you’re still comfortable with the shirtless set for this shoot?”
It’s a standard question. Practically in the brand guidelines at this point.
Jungkook doesn’t answer right away. Instead, he turns his head and looks at you.
You don’t meet his gaze, you really don’t have to. It feels like heat crawling up your neck, threading beneath your skin, sparking every nerve that has spent the last few days pretending he doesn’t exist.
“Yeah,” he finally says,“I don’t mind.”
You hate yourself for the way your heart reacts like it’s just been told a secret. Daniel shifts beside you as if he just got confirmation of a theory he’s been waiting to prove. Like he’s watching a house of cards start to tremble.
You grit your teeth, returning your attention to the presentation. Focus on the words, the charts, the goddamn revenue projections.
“I do have one concern,” Jungkook says.
Of course he does.
“I’m not sure the creative direction for the final set is the right call. It feels kinda stiff.”
One of the execs frowns. “Stiff?”
Jungkook’s tongue presses to the inside of his cheek, and you genuinely consider stabbing your pen through your own laptop just to escape.
“I think we could push it further,” he claims. “Make it feel more natural. Less staged.” He glances toward the campaign boards, then right back to you. “More real.”
You know exactly what he’s doing. Seeing if you’ll crack.
You press your fingers against the cool surface of the table, and speak without even blinking. “If it were any more real, Jungkook, we’d be selling porn, not denim.”
A snort comes from where Daniel sits.
Jungkook blinks and there’s a gleam in his eyes like you just gave him exactly what he wanted.
The conversation shifts, and the meeting rolls forward and suddenly, every damn thing out of his mouth sounds like it belongs in an 18+ warning.
“We just need the right amount of tension in the shot,” he muses, “So it doesn’t feel forced.”
“It should build naturally,” he adds. “Slow. Like… foreplay.”
Okay, he didn’t technically say that last part, but your body hears it anyway.
“We want the final shots to feel… intimate,” the creative director chimes in, flipping through references. “Jungkook, how comfortable are you with that?”
You hold your breath and beg every god to spare you. Jungkook hums thoughtfully, as if he’s considering it.
“Oh, I don’t mind getting up close,” he says. “In fact, I think it works better when there’s a little resistance first.“
You keep your face blank, posture perfect. You will not give him the satisfaction. Then, deadpan as ever, you say, “Yes, Jungkook, we all know how much you like resistance.”
The creative director chokes on his water so violently you’re certain he is thisclose to calling HR. Daniel claps a hand over his mouth and one of the managers goes wide-eyed.
“I don’t know what you’re implying,” Jungkook retorts,”I’m just a professional. I take direction very well.”
Your grip tightens around your pen, not enough to snap it in half but the threat is present.
This exact scenario is what you didn’t want. The not-so-subtle slide from professional sparring to something laced with all the things you refuse to untangle mentally. Once upon a time, you could bicker with Jungkook without consequence. Once upon a time, it was just sharp words with no bite.
“Oh?” you inhale slowly. “Is that so? Because I was under the impression you didn’t take direction at all.”
One of the executives mutters something that sounds suspiciously like Jesus Christ.
He shakes his head, a lock of dark hair falling into his eyes, and when he looks at you again, it’s with a quiet intensity that makes your skin feel too tight. “I think you’ll find I’m full of surprises.”
You hate him with the force of a thousand campaign deadlines and every broken rule you swore you wouldn’t cross. You hate that it’s starting to feel easy for you, too. He’s not just a threat. In a way, you almost like the way he matches you and pushes back.
You force yourself and your colleagues to turn back to the agenda, but Jungkook’s still watching you out of the corner of his eyes, a small smirk on his plump lips.
After all, he’s the one who set the trap.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆
You tell yourself you’re counting down the days. The days until the final shoot wraps, the campaign boards come down, and Jungkook is no longer orbiting your every waking hour like some satellite with boundary issues.
You should be relieved, thrilled even. Practically dancing in designer heels down the halls of your career triumph.
There’s something off about it though. Kind of like you’re hurtling toward the finish line of a race you no longer remember signing up for, only to realize you might not like what’s waiting on the other side.
This campaign is a career-defining achievement, an international spectacle you crafted. It is a global masterpiece. You are exhausted over it, and not just jet-lagged. You are cosmically, soul-deep spent. Every fiber of you is stretched too thin like a rubber band pulled tight and desperate not to snap.
You know exactly what the problem is, if you put your finger on it. It’s Jungkook, with his stupid eyes and stupid mouth. He is a glitch in your meticulously controlled system, a variable you didn’t plan for. And no matter how many spreadsheets you bury yourself in, how many mockups you sign off on, how many creative calls you reroute just to avoid being alone in a room with him, he refuses to stay in the box you need him to fit inside.
So yes. You need this to be over. You need to get him out of your sight, out of your schedule, out of your brain where he’s taken up residence like an overconfident squatter who refuses to pay rent.
The hotel lobby is quiet at this hour. A soft hum of jazz leaks from the overhead speakers, and there’s a faint murmur of laughter spilling from the hotel bar, but it all blurs into the background.
Meanwhile you’re drowning in deliverables and deck revisions and approval threads that have turned your inbox into a graveyard. Your laptop screen glows against the dim, gold-toned lighting. Your fingers fly over the keyboard, mechanical and joyless. You haven’t looked up in at least an hour, probably longer. Your hair is a mess, twisted into a knot that started off intentional and devolved into chaos.
This is the version of you that never stops; the one who doesn’t get the luxury of rest and who runs on cortisol and cold coffee.
Your team had gone out earlier, and they begged you to come for one drink. One hour.
“You need to breathe,” they had said, like it was that simple. You told them you didn’t have time (you really didn’t.) Not when your brain is a warzone and the enemy wears silver rings and makes your knees feel like glass.
So there you are, hunched in a stool at the bartop, your spine begging for mercy, your wine glass sweating beside you, half-finished and entirely forgotten.
Your phone buzzes beside your laptop, the screen lighting up with a name you haven’t said out loud in weeks. Eomma. You glance at it once, jaw tightening, and then flip it over without answering. It’s muscle memory at this point, hitting decline or letting it go to voicemail. The call fades to silence, but the tension lingers, settling beneath your skin with something you don’t have the time or emotional bandwidth to unpack.
Your fingers return to the keyboard, determined. You don’t look up when voices murmur near the bar. Don’t flinch when the elevator dings in the distance. You don’t even care when some kid starts running around the hotel lobby being chased by overwhelmed parents.
Clearly, you have a knack for calling your own fate.
A shadow slices across your screen and your fingers stop mid-sentence, stomach dropping like it’s suddenly remembered how to feel.
When you look up, despite already knowing exactly who it could be, you see Jungkook, hands shoved into the pockets of his sweatpants, eyes half-lidded, dark hair disheveled.
You’re a little shell-shocked, because he’s supposed to be somewhere else. Specifically, at the bar, with the team you said ‘no’ to.
Your eyes flick to the wine glass, then back to him. “What are you doing here?”
He shrugs like he didn’t just appear in the one place you swore he wouldn’t. “What are you doing here?” he counters.
You gesture vaguely toward your laptop, fingers sweeping across the chaos of open tabs, spreadsheets, and campaign briefs like it’s all self-explanatory. Because it is (or it should be.) “Working,” you say flatly.
Jungkook tilts his head slightly, gaze flicking from your screen to the half-drained glass of wine beside it, then back to your face. “So this is what you do for fun?” he questions, “Sit alone in hotel lounges at midnight, buried in spreadsheets, slowly becoming one of your Google Docs?”
You exhale sharply, shoulders aching from hours hunched over this chair. “I don’t really have time for fun.”
He watches you, expression unreadable, trying to parse the subtext between your sentences. He then shifts his weight lazily from one foot to the other, eyes still locked on you.
“Why aren’t you with everyone else?” you ask, frowning like he’s broken some unspoken rule by appearing in your safe zone.
He shrugs again, “Didn’t feel like going.”
Your frown deepens. “You? Skipping drinks?”
“I know. Shocking,” he says, lips curling slightly. There’s humor there, but it’s quiet.
You glance back at your screen and try to refocus. Try to pretend his presence doesn’t shift the entire room two degrees warmer.
He pulls out the chair beside you and sits down. “Have you eaten?”
Goddamnit.
Your fingers stop mid-sentence. You blink once, eyes still on your screen. “What?”
“Food,” he repeats. “When was the last time you ate?”
You shift in your seat and glance at the time on your laptop: 11:43 p.m. That tells you nothing, because time stopped meaning anything after 8pm. Maybe 7pm.
You think back and try to remember, but then your stomach growls, as if it remembers. You refuse to give him the satisfaction, so you shrug, fingers already hovering back over your keyboard. “I’ve been busy.”
Jungkook lets out a breath, somewhere between a scoff and a sigh. “That’s not an answer.”
Your fingers move again, faster now, as if typing at warp speed might drown out the sound of his voice.
He lifts his hand. Flags the bartender down with two fingers and an easy nod.
Your head jerks up. “What are you doing?”
He turns to the bartender, all calm and goes, “Can we get a plate of whatever’s still warm back there? And another glass of wine.”
“Jungkook,” you snap like a warning, like if the idea of ordering food is so preposterous he needs to be scolded like a child.
He ignores it. “Thanks,” he smiles, nodding toward the bartender before turning back to you with that maddening, infuriatingly smug expression.
You glare at him. “I don’t need you to order for me.”
Jungkook leans back in his chair, arms crossing lazily over his chest. He looks like he’s settling in for the night. “Clearly, you do. Since you seem completely incapable of basic survival.”
You resist the very real, very violent urge to slam your laptop shut just to make a point. “This isn’t necessary,” you mutter, reaching for your wine. You don’t know what unnerves you more: the fact that he ordered you food without asking or the fact that he’s probably right.
“Neither is skipping meals,” Jungkook retorts, shrugging like he’s merely stating a fact and not casually inserting himself into your personal life. “But here we are.”
You sit there, blinking at him. What the actual fuck is this? Jungkook has spent time out of his days making your life hell. Willingly and gleefully. It’s practically his part-time job.
And yet now he’s sitting next to you, body plopped in a stool like it’s something he does often. Not because he cares, obviously not. Right?
You stare blankly at your screen, face bathed in the cold blue glow of your laptop, brows pulled in like they’re shielding you from the audacity radiating off the man to your left.
Jungkook drums his fingers against the table, light and absentminded, but you can feel the rhythm of it anyway. You haven’t really looked at him since he sat down. Not even when he forced you to acknowledge that the last thing you put in your body was probably a coffee you forgot to finish six hours ago and some white wine.
Normally, your stubbornness would amuse him. Your compulsive need to be in control. Your single-minded obsession with perfection. The way you pretend you’re made of steel, even when your body’s clearly crying out for rest.
Still, he tries. “What are you even working on this late?”
You exhale through your nose like he’s an annoying notification popping up mid-presentation. “Contracts. Final reports. Things you don’t need to worry about.”
He hums. “You ever stop working?”
“No.” Your shoulders slump even more.
He lets out a snort, “That’s depressing.”
You keep typing like the fate of the free world hinges on your ability to update a pivot table. Jungkook eyes you for a beat, then shifts forward, forearms resting against the marble bartop.
“What’s left on the campaign?” he asks, “Last shoot is this week, right?”
You make a noise, something between a hum and a sigh, and click through to another document. “Yeah.”
“And after that?” he presses.
You pretend to be oddly interested in adjusting a cell in a spreadsheet. “You know the deal. Press tours, magazine exclusives, and then launch.”
“And after launch?”
That makes you pause. He should know how this works like the back of his hand. You glance up, brow raised, annoyed. “What is this, an interrogation?”
He grins, unbothered. “Just trying to figure out when you’ll finally relax.”
You scoff. “I don’t relax.”
“Yeah,” he says, lips twitching, “no shit.”
You roll your eyes and go back to work, but he’s still watching you, fingers tapping idly against the wine glass the bartender brought out for him, gaze thoughtful.
For the first time since this campaign began, for the first time since your constant sparring became something else, seeing you like this doesn’t give him that same satisfaction. You look like you’re one poorly worded email away from full collapse, and that… doesn’t feel like a win.
The bartender returns quietly, placing a plate in front of you. A burger, fries, and a glass of water with more wine. The scent alone breaks your focus; crispy potatoes, buttery toasted bun, something grilled and undeniably American.
Your fingers hover mid-keystroke. You blink at the plate and let out a laugh. “Really? A burger? In Korea?”
Jungkook shrugs. “Hey, I asked for anything warm. Plus, you needed something quick and easy. Not too complicated.”
He pauses for a second, “Kind of like you.”
You shoot him a look, utterly unimpressed. “Ha. Ha.”
Jungkook grabs a fry off your plate like it’s his, gesturing for you to follow. “Eat.”
You cross your arms, “I don’t have time.”
“Yeah, you do,” he says, motioning at your food. “Besides, I’m not leaving until you do.”
You make a face, a full-body grimace of indignation and something dangerously close to a pout. You roll your eyes so hard it nearly counts as exercise and mutter something under your breath, but just as you’re about to double down on your disdain, your stomach growls. Your own body has betrayed you completely.
Jungkook raises an eyebrow with quiet delight, and barks out a laugh, entirely too pleased with himself.
You glare at him like you’re deciding whether prison time is worth it. Painfully and dramatically, you grab a fry. It’s an exaggerated, defiant motion. You nibble at the end of it like it’s a hostage negotiation.
Jungkook hums, “There we go. Not so hard, was it?”
You don’t dignify that with a response. You just take another bite with the same energy as someone doing squats at gunpoint, while your other hand keeps typing, eyes locked on the glowing blur of your spreadsheet. If you don’t look at him, it doesn’t count.
And then because he’s a menace and a flirt and apparently clinically incapable of shutting up, he leans forward. “You know, pouty looks good on you.”
Very slowly, very deliberately, you lift your gaze. To him, it finally feels like you’re not truly ignoring him.
From there, the conversation doesn’t happen all at once. It unfolds gradually, kind of like rain soaking slowly into the sidewalk. You’re still typing, still pretending to work, your attention split between whatever meaningless data is on your screen and the man next to you who won’t stop peeling back your armor with casual little flicks of conversation.
Somehow, between reluctant bites of fries and the low hum of hotel jazz, you start talking. Just… regular conversation that isn’t heavy.
“So,” he begins, fingers tapping the side of his glass. “Calvin Klein. How’d you end up here?”
You click through some Excel sheets. “Hard work, a few miracles, a lot of people underestimating me.”
He tips his head. “Didn’t you say you started in New York?”
“I did. But I had internships in Seoul during university. They were smaller houses. Luxury branding though. I moved to the U.S. after I got the global marketing position.” It’s all now rolling off your tongue so easily.
“And now you run the whole thing.”
You acknowledge him, arching a brow. “Surprised?”
Jungkook smirks, snatching another fry. “Not really. But you’re younger than most people in your position, right?”
You sigh through your nose. “Yes, and most of them don’t let me forget it.”
Jungkook nods slowly. He gets it; the pressure, the eyes, the constant need to prove you belong in a room they never built for you in the first place.
“People underestimate you a lot, huh?” he asks.
“Always.”
“And you love proving them wrong.”
That makes you take a pause. You don’t rush to fill the silence, mostly because you don’t have to. It hangs there, soft and strange and long enough to feel like the truth.
“What about you?” you ask, shifting the conversation, not because you’re particularly curious, but because he’s looking at you too closely and you need a second to breathe.
Jungkook leans back in his chair, “What about me?”
“You became an idol when you were, what…12? 13? That couldn’t have been easy.”
His expression flickers briefly. A shift too subtle for most to notice, but you do.
“No,” he says quietly. “It wasn’t.”
You study him now, less like a challenge or a puzzle. But more so… as a person.
“Do you ever regret it?” You take a sip from your wine.
Jungkook tilts his head, gaze drifting somewhere else. “No. But…” He pauses. “I wonder, sometimes what it would’ve been like to be normal.”
You weren’t expecting the honesty. The way he says it with curiosity, like he’s asked himself the same question in the quiet of his own head a thousand times and never said it out loud until now.
“To be normal?” you echo, placing your glass down.
He nods. “To be anonymous. To go to school like everyone else. To have weekends. To do dumb shit without it ending up on some gossip site three hours later.”
You sit with that. You need a moment to let it rearrange the version of him you’ve built in your head. This is someone lonelier, someone who has been living in a fishbowl since he was a kid and still managed to become this.
“I get that,” you say, and it surprises you how much you mean it.
Jungkook turns back to you, eyes narrowing slightly. “You do?”
“I’ve spent my whole life working. I was always the youngest in every room, and every board I’ve ever had to sit on. I had to prove I belonged there. And sometimes I wonder… what if I didn’t? What if I’d taken my time and let myself be young?”
He leans forward again, resting his arms on the table, “Would you change anything?”
Your mind flickers to the sleepless nights, the overexerted ambition, the girls you once knew in Busan who married young and stayed put, your childhood apartment with the leaky sink and cheap wallpaper. To the version of you that never left.
You shake your head, “No. But I think about it sometimes.”
Jungkook nods like he understands. The conversation doesn’t end. It just… shifts. The sharpness between you remains, but it’s dulled, like a knife put back in its sheath. You talk about Busan, about the beaches, the old seafood stalls, the sleepy summers that felt longer when you were kids.
Jungkook grins when you mention the accent, eyes lighting up like he’s been waiting for this part. “Ah, so that’s why I heard you mutter ssibal under your breath the other day,” he teases. “Sounded like it came straight out of 2012.”
You roll your eyes, feigning offense. “It only comes out when I’m stressed.”
“So… constantly?”
You throw a fry at him. He dodges it, laughing.
For a moment, it feels simple. Like you’re not two people who should absolutely not be sitting here at midnight, eating fries and sharing childhood wounds.
“Be honest,” he muses, “When’s the last time you actually went back to Busan?”
And just like that, the easy feeling catches in your throat. The question lands soft but inside, it cracks something. Busan isn’t just a city to you. It’s a memory you’ve kept sealed shut, a version of yourself you’ve outgrown but never quite buried. For all the years you’ve spent running away from it, there’s always been that quiet fear gnawing at your ribs: that if you go back, even for a second, you might not know who you are anymore. Or worse, you’ll remember. You’ll remember the girl who left because staying felt like failure. Some days, when you’re too tired to lie to yourself, you wonder if that’s why you haven’t been back. Not because you can’t, but because you’re terrified you don’t belong there anymore.
You hesitate. For some reason, your fingers are still hovering over your keyboard, mid-sentence, mid-excuse, the cursor blinking like it’s waiting for you to remember who you are.
And then, without thinking, without looking at him, you reach up and close your laptop.
You have unconsciously waved a white flag of surrender.
“I try to go back at least once a year,” you sigh, “For Chuseok, if I can swing it.”
Jungkook hums warmly. “Big family?”
You nod. “Very.”
He smiles, already picturing it. “So you were one of those kids with fifty cousins sprinting around the yard, screaming over food and stealing snacks from the kitchen?”
You can’t help it; the memory makes your mouth twitch a little. “Yeah. My mom used to cook like she was feeding the entire peninsula. And every surface in the house would be covered in something, rice cookers, trays of fried food. It was chaos.”
Jungkook grins, “Let me guess. Seafood pancake the size of a steering wheel, enough kimchi jjigae to fill a kiddie pool, and at least one auntie bringing her secret homemade makgeolli in an old Sprite bottle?”
You laugh, tipping your head back slightly. “God. You really are from Busan.”
He shrugs proudly. “Born and raised.”
“The second I walked through the door,” you say, a little more softly now, “they’d shove rice balls and hot soup at me like I’d just returned from war.”
“That’s how you know you’re truly home,” Jungkook reminisces. “You’re not allowed to be hungry.”
Your stomach flips at that word. Home. It lodges itself beneath your ribs before you can stop it.
You clear your throat and shift in your seat. “What about you?” you question, redirecting the spotlight. “Big family?”
Jungkook plays with the stem of his wine glass. “Not as big as yours, probably. But it was enough. Me, my parents, my brother. We always spent the holidays together with food, board games, my mom yelling at us for eating before the table was set.”
“Did you ever get to do the normal Busan teenager thing?” You giggle lightly at the thought of it.
He raises a brow. “What, like sneaking out to Haeundae with your friends to watch the sunrise?”
Your eyes narrow into slits. “So you did?”
“Once or twice.” He shrugs again,. “You?”
You scoff, waving a hand in the air. “Please. I had it down to a science. Out the back door at 11:30. Home by 5:00, bed made, face washed, phone off. My mother never knew.”
Jungkook chuckles amusedly. “You were the responsible one, huh? The one dragging everyone else out of trouble?”
“Somebody had to be,” you say, lifting your glass for a slow sip.
“So serious,” he teases. “Even back then.”
You set the glass down, mouth curling. “You don’t get to where I am without a little discipline.”
His gaze drifts over your face, thoughtful. “I bet you still were rebellious though”
You raise a brow. “Oh yeah?”
He nods, lips curling. “I think you like breaking the rules more than you let on.”
You know he’s not talking about Busan or teenage rebellion or barefoot sprints down side streets with your shoes in your hands and curfews already blown to hell.
He’s talking about you and him. About how you keep drawing the line and then stepping over it. About the trailer, the conference room. About the fact that every time you say it’s the last time, whether it’s to yourself or to him, you never really mean it.You refuse to give him the satisfaction. There won’t even be a hint of agreement that shows. You roll your eyes and reach for another fry like it’s a mic you’re about to drop. You bite into it with the kind of pointed defiance usually reserved for toddlers.
“You think you know me, Jungkook?” you ask flatly.
He grins. “I think I’m getting there.”
The smart move, the safe move, the version of you that has this conversation under control would be to disagree with him.
Instead, you stare at him. Fingers still pressed against the slick condensation of your wine glass, breath caught somewhere between disbelief and indignation.
He says it so casually like he’s peeled back the first few layers and now he’s just waiting for you to stop pretending there’s nothing left underneath.
You need to remind him exactly who you are and exactly why you never let people get close. There’s this unfamiliar discomfort curling at the edge of your confidence.
What the hell is this? This slow, winding conversation that isn’t bait or bravado?
You pull your walls back up tightly. “Getting there?” you echo, “That’s optimistic.”
“I like my chances.”
You roll your eyes again. “You would.”
“I mean,” he says, mouth quirking, “you did close your laptop.”
Oh god. You hadn’t even noticed.
Jungkook watches it register and the way your posture stiffens. You shake your head quickly, a breath sharp through your nose, and reach for your laptop again with renewed purpose. “Don’t flatter yourself,” you mutter. “I was just—”
“—taking a break?” he finishes for you,“Talking to me?”
“Admit it,” he keeps going, “I’m growing on you.”
You scoff instinctively. Shake your head like the idea is laughable. “You’re insufferable,” you say.
You really don’t know when it happened but you feel like you might be losing ground.
You tip your wine glass back, draining the last sip like it’s going to grant you strength, or clarity or at the very least the illusion of control. The warmth settles low in your chest, dull and steady, a quiet reminder that you’ve let this go on longer than you meant to. You exhale and push your chair back with a soft scrape against the floor.
“I need to go to bed,” you say, clipped with finality. “And so do you. Big shoot tomorrow.”
It should land like a period. A closing line.
Jungkook just sits there, no surprise and no protest.
Running is your specialty, isn’t it? Especially when things start feeling real.
You stand, smoothing your wrinkled hoodie tucking your phone into your pocket, gathering your laptop like it’s a shield.
Just as you turn, his hand finds your waist. It’s not demanding or aggressive. It’s simply there.
God, you hate how your breath stutters. Hate how, for one traitorous second, you almost lean into it. It’s not even the touch itself — it’s what it implies. The fact that he knows exactly how close he can get before you break.
You glance down at his hand, then up. He’s already looking at you, eyes dark, lips parted.
You inhale slowly, steadying yourself, “Don’t.”
His thumb drags across the hem of your hoodie but you step back before you can fully indulge in it.
He lets go, hand falling back to his side. “You’re no fun,” he says matter-of-factly.
You exhale through your nose, shaking your head. “Go to bed, Jungkook.”
You turn on your heels, fingers tight around your laptop. You’re ready to walk away, to build distance, to pretend none of this ever happened—
“Wait. Hold on.”
You freeze. Clearly this is what he does. He gets you to stop.
Slowly, you turn back. Jungkook is still in his chair, spread-out limbs. “You’re wound up so tight, I’m surprised you can still breathe,” he notes.
You go stiff instantly. He just reached under your skin and found the part of you that you keep duct-taped shut. “Jungkook—”
“You’re stressed about tomorrow. The shoot. The campaign. Your never-ending checklist of things to fix, control, and solve.” He tilts his head, gaze locked on yours. “I can help you relieve some of that stress.”
Your feet are already pivoting away from him. “Shut up.”
“What? I’m being helpful. Offering a solution,” Jungkook’s shit-eating grin is a mockery of you.
You spin around so fast your hoodie sways with you. “A solution?” you snap. “You are the fucking problem.”
“Am I?” He stands up, shoulders relaxed. “Because from where I’m standing…”
He steps forward.
“…you look like you need me.”
Your stomach flips violently.
No. Nope. Absolutely the fuck not.
You straighten your spine, square your shoulders, roll every ounce of professional restraint back into place. “You’re delusional.”
“You push yourself too hard.” His voice is low, careful, almost maddeningly calm. “You skip meals. You forget how to sit still. You act like rest is something you have to earn.”
He’s not accusing you. Which somehow makes it worse. He’s just stating facts.
His gaze skims over your face like he’s cataloging every reaction, checking for any signs of a flicker of resistance.
Finally, after a minute, he says,”Let me take care of you.”
It doesn’t sound like seduction. It doesn’t sound like pity.
Maybe it’s the wine still buzzing low in your veins. Maybe it’s the exhaustion clawing at your spine. Maybe it’s the fact that you’ve spent weeks holding yourself together, and he’s the first person to see it.
You don’t care or know.
Because when he extends his hand, rings glinting under the amber hotel lights, palm open like he’s not asking, but offering, you take it.
No quips. No eye rolls. No fight left to give.
You let him lead you through the quiet, cavernous lobby, past the sleeping concierge, into the elevator. The doors slide shut behind you with a soft click. Jungkook stands beside you, hands shoved in his pockets, jaw set. His reflection in the mirrored elevator wall watches you, even when he doesn’t turn his head.
You don’t look at him. You can’t. Somewhere between floor two and three, your mind flickers briefly to the last time you let someone in like this. The only man who ever got you to close your laptop without a fight. The only one who made you believe, for a second, that you didn’t have to choose between ambition and affection. You never really recovered from that, never fully trusted anyone not to resent the parts of you that needed to keep working. But now here’s Jungkook, pulling you away from your work without asking you to apologize for it.
Your skin is still humming from his touch, heart unable to stop tripping over itself.
The trailer was supposed to be the end. The final lapse. A mistake you could file under temporary insanity and bury beneath a mountain of brand deadlines and executive reports.
Now you’re here again. The numbers above the elevator door tick upward like a countdown to disaster.
Your grip tightens around your laptop, fingertips aching. In between the hotel bar and the lobby and this elevator, your resolve went quiet.
The elevator dings and you two shuffle out. All you can hear is the hush of carpet under your shoes, his steps right beside yours.
Jungkook stops in front of his door, pulls out the key card with one hand, swipes it through the reader, and the lock clicks open.
He doesn’t say anything. He steps aside, holding the door with one arm like he’s letting you decide.
You do.
You walk past him, cool air rushing out to meet your flushed skin, goosebumps blooming across your arms like your body already knows what’s coming.
When you turn around, he’s already looking at you. It’s not the usual look he wears. It’s not the push-your-buttons-and-watch-you-crack gaze he’s mastered. This one is quieter like he’s waiting for something to fall apart and praying it’s not him.
Before you can reason with yourself, before the part of you that’s still pretending to be composed can scream what are you doing, you move.
Your laptop slips from your hand, thudding softly against the carpet. Your phone tumbles after it. You don’t give a fuck.
Because your hands are already on him.
You push Jungkook back against the door, hard. He hits the wood with a quiet thud, breath knocked from his lungs in a sharp exhale, surprised, but not resisting.
And then, your mouth is crashing into his.
It’s not anything a sober, clear-headed version of you would allow. It’s reckless.
Your hands fist in his hair, dragging him closer like you’ve been aching to rip him apart. His lips part under yours, a groan caught between his teeth, his hands already on your waist, dragging you closer.
This isn’t like before. It’s not like that moment you swore you wouldn’t think about again and then did, over and over. It’s all the tension you’ve swallowed for weeks snapping like overstretched wire.
You moan into his mouth, and that’s it — he’s done pretending. His grip tightens, hands sliding down over the curve of your hips before curling under your thighs.
He lifts you up and your legs wrap around him on instinct, a breathless sound leaving your throat as Jungkook turns you, your back slamming against the door. His mouth drags down your jaw, down your neck.
“Fuck,” you whisper when his teeth scrape against the delicate skin beneath your ear.
His tongue flicks over your pulse point. His mouth sucks just hard enough to make your toes curl. His grip is bruising into your thighs, breath ragged against your skin.
“You’re been driving me insane,” he mutters. Jungkook pulls back just enough to look at you, pupils blown wide.
You want to ruin whatever’s left of his self-control. You want to be the reason he snaps. If anyone’s going to unravel in this room, it’s going to be both of you.
Jungkook doesn’t even pretend to go for the bed. He sinks to his knees like worship comes naturally to him when it’s you he’s looking at. The door is still biting into your spine, but you barely notice it over the way his hands are already dragging your sweatpants down, knuckles brushing the bare skin of your waist. His breath is hot, lips swollen from the kind of kiss that could’ve shattered glass. Without hesitation, he yanks the sweatpants clean off your legs and flings them somewhere behind him. You’re ninety percent sure it lands on a lamp.
Maybe it’s the wine or the week you’ve had or the fact that you haven’t slept in days, but seeing him on his knees for you, hands splayed on your bare thighs, eyes hungry, does something catastrophic to your sanity. It really shouldn’t make your pulse skip like this.
His hands drag down your sides, slow and deliberate, like he’s savoring every inch he’s about to unveil. Fingers slipping just under the waistband of your underwear, knuckles brushing skin that’s already hot to the touch. He doesn’t rush. He takes his time, sliding the fabric down inch by torturous inch, watching it fall past your thighs, over your knees, pooling at your ankles.
And suddenly, you’re standing there completely exposed in nothing but your old hoodie and the heat of his gaze that burns straight through you.
His breath is uneven, jaw tense, eyes locked on your face. You try to stand still, to play it cool, but your chest is rising too fast and your hands are twitching like they don’t know where to go.
You opt to thread them into his hair instead. Your fingers tangle at the roots, nails scraping softly against his scalp, and that’s when he moves. Leaning in, lips brushing against the sensitive skin of your inner thigh.
You suck in a sharp breath.
“Fuck,” Jungkook groans. His grip tightens around your thighs, anchoring you to the door, to him, to whatever this is rapidly becoming.
He mouths at your skin, hot, open-mouthed kisses trailing higher, higher, his tongue swiping gently, teasing, sending shivers up your spine so violently you nearly buckle.
When you look down, he’s already staring up. Like he could spend hours like this and still not get enough. Like you’re the answer to every sin he’s ever been tempted by.
“You look so fucking pretty,” he murmurs, hands skating up again, fingers curling just beneath the hem of your hoodie.
His teeth graze your skin enough to make your breath catch in your throat. You jolt instinctively, hips flinching forward.
“So pretty. So perfect,” he breathes, voice unsteady, like he means every damn word and hates how much he does. Before you can protest, before you can say anything about how close you are to the door, how thin the walls are, how anyone walking by could hear, Jungkook shushes you. “I want to take care of you.”
His hands spread you open. He licks up your slit as if he’s starving for it. That earns him a gasp from you, your head falling back against the door with a soft thud, fingers tightening in his hair so hard he groans into you.
Soft flicks of his tongue. Pressed kisses. A slow, slick circle around your clit that has your knees damn near giving out.
“Jungkook—” you whisper.
His hands grip tighter, holding your thighs open, making you take it. He looks up, eyes black with hunger, lips glossy with you, jaw set.
“Taste so fucking good,” he marvels, voice hoarse, lips hovering as his breath ghosts over your skin.
You can’t even answer. Can’t do anything but feel the drag of him licking into you like he’s rewriting your anatomy with his mouth alone.
He moans right into you, the sound vibrating straight through your core, and you cry out. “Oh my god,” you choke, nearly sliding down the door as your thighs start to tremble.
But Jungkook doesn’t let you go. He presses in deeper, groaning into your cunt like he’s home.
Jungkook is a goddamn menace. A man on a mission. On his knees like he’s praying, only you’re the altar, the sermon, the divine intervention he’s set on worshipping until you forget your own name.
His grip on your thighs tightens, fingers digging in like he’s trying to leave fingerprints behind. His palms press you wider, firmer, anchoring you against the door with nowhere to run.
His tongue is merciless, flicking over your clit, lapping you up like he’s dehydrated.
You’re past the point of composure or pride or anything that resembles logic.
“Fuck, Jungkook—” you choke out, the words punched out of your lungs in gasps.
Your head slams back against the door again as your thighs clench around his head, muscles spasming with every flick of his tongue.
He moans like he likes it when your legs shake. Like your desperation turns him on more than anything.
“That’s it,” he rasps, lips brushing against your soaked skin. “Fuck, baby. Give me more.”
He sucks on your clit, his mouth sealing tight around you like he’s trying to drink you dry.
The sound you make isn’t human. It tears from your throat, your core clenching around nothing, desperate for relief, for anything to ground you in the middle of how fucking good this feels.
You’ve never had someone so eager to fall apart between your legs. Had someone so content to stay there.
Jungkook groans again and it vibrates through your entire body like a shot to the spine. If anything, he goes harder. Two of his fingers, thick and deft, slide into you with devastating ease, like you were made to take them.
He doesn’t give you time. He just finds you already soaked and trembling and opens you up without mercy. Jungkook curls them upwards, knowing exactly where your sweet spot is, which normally would concern you that he knows your body well already, but instead you scream “Jungkook, oh my god.”
Your back arches clean off the door, fingers yanking at his hair like you’re trying to keep yourself from flying apart. His fingers pump into you at a brutal, perfect angle, dragging over that spot again and again and again.
His mouth wastes no time, already back on you, tongue flicking and sucking. “That’s it,” he pants, voice guttural, his mouth gleaming, his tongue ruthless. “You taste like fucking heaven.”
You moan out like you don’t care who hears, like you want the whole damn hallway to know. You’re too far gone to be embarrassed. You grind into his mouth like you’ve lost your mind, chasing the high he’s dragging you toward with no intention of letting up. “F-fuck, I’m gonna cum, don’t you dare stop.”
“Like I’d stop when you sound that pretty.“, he growls, “I want you to cum in my mouth.”
His fingers piston harder, his mouth sliding up and down with. You can’t take it. You can’t.
But he gives you no choice.
The orgasm hits you like whiplash. A cry tears out of your throat, your legs locking around his head, your hips jerking helplessly as you come undone on his fingers, on his mouth, on him. “Oh my, fuck, I’m cumming —“
You’re sobbing now, barely coherent. Your release gushes out of you, soaking his hand, his wrist, his lips and he moans like he’s grateful for it.
His tongue licks up every drop. His fingers move slower now, coaxing the last waves of pleasure from your twitching body. His hands never let go, one on your hip, the other buried inside you, keeping you still.
“My perfect girl,” he murmurs almost to himself, lips dragging over the tremble in your leg. “So perfect like this.”
And that’s when your knees finally give out. The second his fingers slip free, the second his mouth leaves your oversensitive skin, your body surrenders. You collapse onto the carpet and he catches you, strong arms sliding under your thighs and around your back. He eases you down to the carpet with him like you’re made of glass.
There’s sweat cooling on your neck, your pulse racing in your throat. He doesn’t dare say anything cocky or ruin it with a joke.
He’s not sure if he went too far. He almost knows he did and is waiting to see if you’ll push him away.
But you don’t. You physically can’t. Right now, in this moment, you don’t want to.
His breath is shallow, lips parted, glistening with you in the dim light. His eyes are dark, blown wide, barely human. Hunger carved into every line of his face. Like he’s weighing the options between dragging you back onto his tongue or flipping you over and fucking you from a new angle.
His hands sit idle on his thighs, slick with your release, itching to touch again. To finish what he started, even if you’re already wrecked. Even if he already knows you’d let him.
Your hands find his face, palms hot against his skin, and then your lips are on his, desperately and messy.
You kiss him like he’s oxygen. Like he’s the only way back to Earth. Like you’ve never tasted anything like yourself on someone else’s tongue and didn’t know it could make you need them more.
Jungkook groans into your mouth, and his hands fly to your waist, yanking you down into his lap like he’s been waiting for this permission.
You taste yourself on his tongue, feel how his chest heaves against yours, how his body is burning beneath you. His cock is straining, pressing into you with enough pressure to make your breath catch mid-kiss.
You just keep kissing him, tugging his bottom lip between your teeth, licking into his mouth, gasping into every moan.
“Fuck, baby…” he pants. His hands grip your thighs again, “Can’t even stand after I’m done with you.”
Your nails drag down his back, scratching through the cotton of his shirt, your hips twitching against his, legs wrapping tighter around his waist like your body’s forgotten how to let go. “Shut up,” you mutter, catching his mouth again, nipping at his lip.
You could slap him. You could kiss him harder. You opt for the second thing.
Jungkook’s hands slide lower, groping your ass and his hips roll up slightly, a soft grind that leaves your mouth parting in a broken gasp. He’s still hard. Painfully so.
But he doesn’t ask for anything, doesn’t move to unzip his jeans. He’s not making it transactional. He wraps his arms around you and breathes. The two of you lay on the carpet in a tangle of limbs and oversensitive skin and sweat, and this time, there’s no urgency. No rush to get dressed. No nervous backpedaling.
Your head drops to his shoulder, your cheek resting against the curve of his neck. He smells like you now with a hint of whatever subtle cologne still clings to his shirt.
You don’t remind him of boundaries you never actually set, don’t shove the moment back into the safe, distant box where you normally keep your feelings.
You just stay, fingers idly toying with the edge of his tattooed wrist. Breathing him in like he’s not the exact reason you’ve spent the last month losing sleep.
You’re not thinking about campaign briefs or product shots or the three urgent emails Daniel probably sent while you were pinned to a door. You’re not thinking at all.
“Feeling better?” He wonders out loud.
You dare to lift your head. “Mm. A little.”
Jungkook makes a noise of satisfaction, “So I was right.”
You scoff. “Don’t make me regret coming up here.”
His laugh is low, rumbling beneath your cheek. “Noted.”
Your fingers trace along the edge of ink on his skin like you might find answers in the lines. You tell yourself it’s still nothing. Another late-night lapse in judgment you’ll shove into the archives tomorrow.
It really doesn’t feel like nothing, though. And that scares you more than anything.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆
You wake before the sun.
The room is silent, painted in that hazy, blue-gray light that only exists for a few short minutes before the world remembers it has things to do. Sleep still weighs heavy in your limbs, but your eyes are closed.
You don’t remember when he carried you to bed. There was a vague, dreamlike sensation of being lifted off the floor, of something warm pressed against your back, of fingers adjusting a pillow beneath your head.
Now you’re here, cheek pressed against a solid chest, arm draped around your waist, fingers curled loosely in the edge of a hotel sheet you definitely didn’t tuck in yourself.
For one suspended, silent moment, you don’t move or panic.
And… reality floods in like a dam breaking. Your eyes snap open.
Jungkook. Sleeping soundly beside you.
Breathing slow and even, one arm still heavy across your waist. His hair is tousled, his entire face relaxed. He looks younger like this. Less like the Jungkook who flirts just to get a rise out of you and more like someone you should not be this close to.
You never sleep over at a man’s house. Not after the first time. Not after the second.
You bolt upright like the bed’s caught fire. There’s a moment of untangling, sheets twisted around your legs, hoodie riding halfway up your torso, laptop halfway across the room. You scramble through it all, adrenaline laced with embarrassment, stomach clenching with the kind of shame that only hits after you’ve slept beside someone who shouldn’t make you feel safe.
Jungkook doesn’t move while you cause noise. He lies there, all golden skin and easy breath, completely unbothered, as if you didn’t just crawl into his mouth last night and fall asleep on his chest like some kind of walking red flag.
He looks… peaceful.
You hate how different he looks when he’s not awake enough to be cocky. Hate that for a second, you wonder what kind of man he is in the morning.
You shake off that thought like a wet coat, pull on yesterday’s sweatpants with practiced indifference, and snatch your phone off the nightstand.
You don’t glance back, or hesitate or wait for him to wake up and say something that might make you stay. You walk out of there with your laptop in one hand, your dignity dragging behind you, and your heart pounding a little too fast for your liking.
By the time you make it back to your own hotel room, your pulse has calmed down enough. You shower, get dressed, do all trivial human things that deserve your attention rather than jungkook . You bury yourself in your inbox like it might dig you out of the mess you made.
And when you finally walk onto set, coffee in one hand, tablet in the other, a perfectly tailored blazer slung over your shoulders, you’re never been more ready to pretend last night never happened. Ready for him to smirk as per usual and say something infuriating about how you’re obsessed with him. Ready for the back-and-forth, the teasing.
Except, that’s not actually what happens and your brain turns into mush.
Jungkook says nothing when you walk past or when you call out instructions. When he catches your eye, you brace for it. The smirk. The too-obvious stare that always lingers just long enough to piss you off. You wait for him to play the game — whatever little game this is.
Instead, he just nods at you so goddamn normally it makes your skin prickle.
“You look pretty today,” he says.
Simple. And then he’s vanishing far off to his team without a wink, follow-up or a trace of the man who had you trembling under his tongue last night.
Almost as if you didn’t wake up on his chest and forget, for one stupid moment, that you’ve spent your entire life keeping people exactly where they belong; at arm’s length.
You stand there, frozen mid-step, your coffee suddenly tasting like battery acid. This is worse than the incessant flirting, than the smug comments, thsn every heated, too-close, too-loud argument you’ve ever had with him.
Somehow, you’re still calling the shots but something feels off, and you can feel it in every bone of your body.
Jungkook moves quietly across the set, present but distant, on the edges of your world like smoke.
What really fucks with your head is you keep waiting for a comment to be made, some annoying little thing about how you can’t keep your eyes off him. Because at least when he’s pushing, you know what to do. At least then, the fire feels familiar.
By the time lunch break rolls around, your jaw aches from clenching, shoulders welded to your ears. You make your way to the break station, clutching your empty coffee cup.
This is fine. You are fine. This is nothing.
You roll your shoulders back and breathe deep, try to reset.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Coffee sloshes dangerously close to the rim as you jerk around, already scowling.
Daniel.
He’s standing beside you, arms crossed, eyebrows arched like he’s just been waiting to pounce. You glare at him over your shoulder. “What the fuck do you want?”
Daniel grins, completely unphased. “You tell me. You’re the one acting like you’ve got a body buried under the set.”
You roll your eyes and force your voice flat. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The words leave your mouth quickly, in a way that’s soaked in a guilt you haven’t even admitted to yourself yet.
Daniel doesn’t buy it. He hums under his breath, gaze drifting casually across the studio until it lands on Jungkook.
Standing with the creative team, listening intently, nodding along like he’s never had his mouth on you. Like he didn’t pin you to a door and make you forget your own name. Like he didn’t let you fall asleep wrapped around him like it was easy.
And Daniel, that sharp-eyed little fucker, catches it immediately. A smile spreads across his features slowly, “You and Jungkook.”
That’s all he says.
Your hand slips. Coffee cup flies out of your palm. It falls to the floor with a crash, loud and sharp, echoing off the walls like a warning shot. Hot liquid splashes across your shoes, soaking into the hem of your pants. You stare at it, stunned, like your body forgot how to move.
Daniel blinks. “Okay…”
You’re already clenching your jaw, chest rising and falling way too fast.
Daniel tilts his head like he’s looking at a puzzle piece that just clicked into place. “I was kidding, but —”
“Shut up.”
He lifts his hands in surrender, but the smirk in his eyes is brutal.
You inhale through your nose and manage to grind out, “I need to change.”
And before Daniel can say another word, you walk away. Straight to the bathroom. Straight away from the fact that Jungkook has completely thrown you off your axis.
You have no idea how to fix it.

it's been a little bit since i've been back on here and actively posted, but you know what i felt bad that i hadn't, so i did this to kind of assure everyone who didn't see my last thing that i'm still alive and well. sorry for not responding sooner to this request. also, if you see this, do not panic, i promise, i'm still finishing kiss with a fist [iii] and we’re only a few days from casual [iii]. the last thing i want is someone seeing me update and then immediately jumping into my inbox to ask about those, because i'm hard at work at them anyways
also, if you're not tall, just imagine it for a moment, lmao
Tumblr media
wednesday addams
she’s not especially expressive, so she’ll never admit to it, but she absolutely loves that you’re so much taller than her. it’s cheesy and she knows you'll tease her about it, if she does mention it
she fumbles the bag at first, when during one of your first conversations, she says "you remind me of lurch." it's not exactly flattering to be told you remind her of her 40 year old butler who looks like a skeleton, and it makes you think she doesn't like you, at first, but to be fair, she meant it as a compliment
you try to brush past it, and wednesday too, and she's confused as to why you didn't seem flattered. enid's mouth drops open when wednesday recounts your interaction, and she tries to coach her through fixing her mistake
unfortunately your next conversation is only more awkward, when she walks it back and says "you DON'T remind me of lurch." she thinks it's a good way to recover from her previous error, but you just look even more confused, and she's suddenly walking off before she fucks up anything any more
she does manage to have an actual conversation with you later, after you take the turn to initiate, and that's how you two actually begin to grow closer and closer
even in her big ass platform boots, you’re still taller than her. it closes a little bit of the distance, but you're still much taller
she grabs your tie or bunches your shirt and pulls you down to her level, in order to kiss you. it hurts your neck sometimes, but you’d never ever tell her not to do it
even when she tugs you down for a kiss, she still has to stand on her tippy toes, especially if she’s only in socks
it does make you the ideal height for cuddling, though
wednesday claimed at first that she would cut your fingers off if you tried to hold her, but she slowly learns to crave it. all you have to do is give her a look and lift up your blanket, and she’ll crawl right in, especially if it’s after an investigation and she’s exhausted
theres just something oddly relaxing about curling up and feeling you wrap yourself around her. you’re definitely big spoon in this scenario. not that she wouldn’t hold you the same— she does, especially when she’s worried about the investigation but doesn’t want to say anything— but she likes how you’re able to completely wrap around her and how she can almost burrow herself into you
wednesday absolutely adores to sit on your lap. she’ll sit on your lap whenever and wherever she can. sideways with her arms around your neck, back to front with your arms around her waist, facing you in a straddle, during the more heated moments. she said she’d never be like her parents, but she also finds your lap to be the most comfortable seat around
she plops herself down onto your lap whenever she feels the person you're talking to is laughing a little too much at your jokes. she'll wander right over, wordlessly, sit down on your lap, wrap an arm around your neck, and stare at the person you're talking to with a usual disinterest, and they very quickly get the memo and leave
not that you realise this pattern, of course
you also use your height to help in the investigation. getting books for her off of high-up, dusty shelves, giving her a boost through windows that she shouldn't be breaking into, you name it. your willingness to assist her in her crazy plan is just part of what she loves about you
"can you reach that for me, cara mia?"
she does miraculously know your measurements, of course, when it comes to buying clothes. being tall makes clothes somewhat hard, but she always manages to buy the perfect sized thing, and you're starting to wonder if she somehow measured you, when you weren't paying attention
tara carpenter
you guys begin as sworn enemies after meeting at blackmore, and it results in a lot of mean insults about each others' height. she calls you the jolly green giant and you call her dwarf. she calls you giraffe, you call her stuart little. neither of you will admit that you find the other obnoxiously attractive
she says you're freakishly tall, but you're only a little taller than chad. she never annoys him about his height, only you, but for what it's worth, you annoy her right back
it culminates one night during a drunken hookup after you've shouted insults into each others faces. tara won't admit her anger is from seeing a random girl grind on you, and you won't admit you're annoyed that ethan and chad are obviously in love with her, and doing their best at flirting
you don't know who closes the distance first, but the next thing you know, you're messily pressing your mouths together and tara is climbing you like a damn tree, i mean, this is literally her
Tumblr media
immediately after, you and tara try to pretend it didn't happen, and it lasts all of one week before she's jumping your bones again, only this time neither of you are drunk
you get together shortly after, but best believe the teasing doesn't stop. she'll still call you her little construction crane, and you'll smile with a faux sweetness and call her your little hobbit, until she smacks you on the arm
you're definitely a fiery couple, on both sides, but you do have your sweet moments
you give her piggyback rides because you're tall enough to do so, and she just happily wraps her arms around your neck and lets you carry her places. pretty much any time she gets tired enough (or even when she isn't really tired at all), she'll give you a cute pout and put her arms out, and you'll pick her up
tara loves to cuddle with you, but even then, sometimes you both squabble over the blanket, and she'll start complaining about how you hog the whole thing because of your height. it turns into a playful wrestling match, and while you have the obvious advantage and could flip her right around at any given moment, you let her climb on top of you and pin your arms above your head in a proud victory (which takes a lot of effort, considering how short she is)
of course, like all of your play-fights, it turns into something more
she doesn't like to talk about woodsboro, but she does find a comfort in how tall you are. it makes her feel a bit safer with you around, not that a couple inches would stop ghostface or anything
but she feels a genuine relaxation, when you can both be in bed together, and you're completely holding her in your arms, and it's not a thing she thought she'd feel again
you give her your jacket when she's cold, and she has to bunch the fabric around her elbows, or it'll absolutely swim on her. she always teases you about it, but the moment you jokingly threaten to take it back, she'll roll her eyes with a smile and tug it on with a kiss to your cheek
sometimes when you're cooking in the kitchen, she'll wrap her arms around your waist and let her head rest against the small of your back
you also help her when she's studying in the school library, by similarly grabbing books off the shelf for her
when she wants to rest her head on your shoulder, you still have to crane your neck down to let her. it's not super comfortable, but you still do it, because she looks adorable when she sleeps
she's figured out something seriously cruel. you complained about her feet being cold once, when you were snuggling, and ever since you mentioned it, tara realised she's the perfect height to press a cold foot right onto your back. she does it when she wants to start a play-fight, and it works like a charm every time
you're annoyed by it, but it definitely does make her laugh
lorraine day
your height is immediately what lorraine clocks onto, when she first sees you, because she's coming back from a shoot, getting dropped off by RJ, and she sees you in the distance, hopping a fence like it's no effort at all, when the same fence is a pain for lorraine to climb
you're the new ranch hand that her father hired while she was gone, and when she officially meets you, the both of you don't exactly get off on the right foot
you don't actually say much, which is something her father warned her of before you were introduced, but she at least expected some kind of "hello." instead, you just stare down at her from the shadow of your hat with a neutral nod, and then go off to get back to work. no giving her your name, no asking her any questions, no interest whatsoever
she doesn't know if she's more offended by your lack of manners or more upset you don't seem anywhere near as curious about her as she is about you
your height makes you ideal for most ranching activities though. you easily climb up and down from your horse and you're a speedy, fast rider.
when lorraine is on her shorter breed of horse, you're still as tall as her shoulders, and you help her get ready to go out on her horse with you and her father, even if it is wordlessly
she's only heard you speak a few times, and it's mostly been laughing with her father, which abruptly stops when lorraine gets close enough
after a rare bit of rain, lorraine's boots are slippery, and she slides out of the stirrup when dismounting way quicker than she was ready for. luckily, you're there to catch her, and she collides against you, pretty much right into your arms
unfortunately, you both fall back into a pile of horse shit, and the next thing she knows, she's hearing a nice, airy laughter coming from you. she's damn sure it's the first time she's seen you smile or laugh, and it's got her laughing too
she apologises, but you say "it's nothin," and you both kind of naturally grow closer from there
you help her up onto her horse, when she's without a saddle. you're tall enough to do so, and you hoist her up gently and set her on the animal's back with a small smile, and it kind of makes her heart beat real fast
it turns out the rough and tough cowboy exterior is a false image of you lorraine created in her mind. you're actually just a quiet, hot, tall, dork
you're feeding her horse a carrot or something, about to go out and do your job with lorraine eager to tag along, and she doesn't know what comes over her, but she leans down a little and plants a kiss right on your lips
she's the champion of sitting on stuff to reach your face: a fence, her horse, a hay bale. she likes being above you for once, and you're not complaining whatsoever
she tugs on the belt loop of your jeans when she wants you to lean down and kiss her. she also absolutely steals your baseball cap, and then to be funny, your cowboy boots, and she laughs about how big on her the cowboy boots are and clomps around in them
her family house has low ceilings, so it's kind of a pain to walk through, especially in your boots. for the most part, you live above the barn because of the higher ceilings, and sometimes (most nights) lorraine sneaks out to see you
she absolutely loves to sit on your shoulders. it's not especially comfortable for you, but you let her do it at the town events like fireworks and festivals and stuff. she sits on your shoulders for a "better view," and she'll rest her chin on top of your head
sorry to RJ, he's getting dumped the moment he comes back into town
cairo sweet
she doesn't even really realise you're tall at first, because she just sees you in your chair, on the second day of the new semester
you're new in town, a transfer kid and a cross country prodigy, with record times and future athletic scholarships up the wazoo, owed partially to being much taller than average. but the two most annoying things about you is that you can write, and you've read mr. miller's book
mr. miller seems rather pleased with having you in his class, and immediately it makes cairo hate you. her whole plan pretty much crumbles with you now in the way, and she absolutely loathes you for it
her new plan becomes to seduce you and distract you from school, and it works because you do harbour a giant, absolutely massive crush on her
your mother, who's also your coach, wants you to stay focused on athletics and not let cairo get in the way, but talking to her makes you melt, and when she finds you one day, in the locker room after everyone's left, you immediately cave when she sloppily kisses you and shoves her tongue into your mouth
your height is ideal for picking her up and pushing her back against the lockers, while her legs wrap around your waist
tree climber core again
Tumblr media
she says it's just a scheme, but after you earnestly ask her out on a date and you both have a fantastic time, cairo's master plan goes out the window, and she just enjoys you for you
she goes to all of your meets, and she'll stand at the railing of the bleachers, and watch you with a smile (she's too fancy to cheer like a soccer mom out loud, but know she's really rooting for you on the inside)
you're like that one track couple at the olympics, if y'all have seen the clip. you finish your run in first place, qualifying for the state competition, and before anyone can congratulate you, you're running in cairo's direction, at the bleachers.
you're tall enough to the point that you just stand there on the ground, and cairo leans over the railing and kisses you, pulling away to cup your cheeks
your height is definitely a plus, in that when cairo is especially miffed at something mr. miller said or another student, after class, she'll grab your arm and wrap it around her shoulder
you barely fit on your twin-sized mattress, but cairo owns a king in her massive ass house, so it's a plus, whenever you go over to her place to "study"
just like with wednesday, when you're over at her house, you're the person who grabs her books off her shelf for her. she'll whisper a thanks and press a kiss to your cheek. sometimes she'll stand behind you and watch you grab a book off the shelf, just to see the stretch in your muscles and watch you move. she's just thinking "i'm no better than a man" while it happens
she love love loves to lay on top of you, on the sofa, when she's got a book to read. she'll just lay back against your chest, in your embrace, with a book in hand
she'll borrow your jacket, even though she complains it doesn't match her style, but it still swims on her
absolutely loves to be princess-carried to her bed when she falls asleep on the couch reading. she'll fall asleep because it's just too comfortable there, and you'll carry her up the stairs and tuck her in
she also grabs your collar and tugs you down to her for a kiss. either that, or she'll tug on your sleeve, which you now know is cairo saying she wants a kiss or a hug

Cassian, Azriel, and Rhysand had already left when you came downstairs for breakfast. Nesta grumbled that they hadn't even eaten before spreading their wings to the sky, making everything around them flutter – including the newly planted rose saplings of Elain, to her great displeasure.
Feyre often returned home in hopes that the queens had already responded. The delay was noticeable given how long ago the letter had been sent, and it was a shot in the dark trying to guess what might have happened, though you doubted the letter had gotten lost in transit, and, mind you, you weren't foolish enough to think it was their indecision.
They were making the High Lord wait for pure amusement, and maybe a little bit of sadism. The human queens were in control of the situation, and that made everything even more delicious. A power struggle where, for the first time, the weaker ones were in charge. It must have been painful to even consider discarding this succulent opportunity that had been handed to them on a golden platter—one in a million, truly.
Bringing the steaming cup of tea to your lips, you sipped cautiously to avoid burning yourself; there was no pain worse than burning your tongue – well, maybe stubbing your toe, you mused with a hum. A gust of wind passed through your hair, signaling that someone was passing by in a hurry.
“Don’t run around the house, Elain,” Nesta grumbled from her spot at the table, clearly not a morning person. Your second eldest sister slipped on the floor and turned back to stop by your side, placing one of her delicate hands on your shoulder to alert you of her presence.
Taking a deep breath, Elain spoke breathlessly, “A new batch of letters is arriving today!”
Now, this was interesting. You placed your hand on hers, squeezing her hand on your shoulder, turning your head slightly to show your interest in the topic. Not because of the letters, obviously.
“Why don’t you come with me, sister? We can stop by that little craft shop too,” Elain suggested. She certainly knew how to brighten your day, and even though you were avoiding crowds, especially those zealots who called themselves the enlightened ones – and that made your skin crawl – it was hard to resist the opportunity to get out of the house. God knows this place could be suffocating.
Nesta was irritated with anyone who breathed in her direction, Elain would shudder at the mere mention of meetings and queens, and you missed Merina and her pies. No matter how hard you tried, it was difficult to connect with your sisters as well as with Feyre, who no longer lived a human life filled with nuances like yours.
Taking a deep breath, you pushed yourself off the chair and blindly grabbed your beautiful cane, intending to head for the door alone, but Elain was quicker and grabbed your wrist, guiding you somewhat hurriedly toward the exit without saying goodbye to a very grumpy Nesta.
The morning wind hit your face as you crossed the threshold, and the birds’ song pierced your ears like a sweet melody. However, as beautiful as it was, your brow furrowed at the hurry in your sister's movements. Surely, the letters couldn’t be that interesting, not to Elain, at least. She could barely stand still when the topic was on the table. Ah, the gossip you'd have today, sweet sister.
“Is there anything else you want from the city besides the letters?” Your tone was dismissive, but even the dullest of men would see the curiosity behind the question.
Elain tripped over something on the ground and almost pulled you down with her, making you question who the blind sister really was here.
She cleared her throat and finally slowed her pace. The hesitation was palpable, and the arm linked to yours grew tense as she nervously began fiddling with the sleeve of her dress.
“I... I was thinking about looking at some prettier engagement rings, maybe gold...” It came out like a croak, and that left you a little more confused. There was no doubt that Elain had good taste and could spot something beautiful from afar, so it was strange that she wanted to see new rings when she loved hers so much.
“I thought you were crazy about that one,” the sounds of people talking grew louder, and your nose wrinkled from the variety of smells; sweets, savory foods, pig dung, and, beneath it all, the fresh scent of pine and whiskey filled your lungs with a warm, inviting sensation.
“Steel” and “Feyre” and “shame” were the only words you managed to catch through the intoxicating fog of the delicious perfume you inhaled. But that was enough for no question to leave your lips.
Turning your focus back to the surroundings as your sister and cane guided you through the streets, bodies occasionally brushed past you, nearly knocking you down; shouts proclaiming devotion to the divine; more frantic cries from merchants trying to sell their goods to eat at the end of the day, and other sounds that were impossible to decipher.
As you walked, Elain stopped abruptly in her tracks. Confused, you turned your head to look at her but got no answer. Without saying a word, your sister started walking again, leaving the noise of the city behind. You quickened your steps to keep up with her, the wind certainly making your hair a tangled mess. At least you wouldn’t have to see it.
Elain slid a bit in the mud, and with a squeak, you stopped by her side. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, and her lungs struggled to keep up with her breathing. Gods, your sister was trying to kill you just so she wouldn’t have to share the inheritance.
“What in the hell-” you began but didn’t finish. The breeze had risen up your legs, making the hem of your dress flutter and leaving a coolness on your skin, only to disappear faster than it came.
“Azriel?” Azriel? He was the cause of your little sprint? Damn him, what was he doing in such an obvious place?
“Elain,” he greeted your sister, and as he turned to you, he spoke your name in a deep purr, sending a chill down your spine with the tone. You nodded in acknowledgment; your voice no longer belonged to you. “The letter. It’s here.”
Ah, he knew. He already knew the queens' letter had arrived today. How? You didn’t know.
“We were going to see it now,” Elain’s voice was syrupy, soft and sweet, almost like she didn’t know how to speak anymore.
A hum left Azriel’s throat. His trained eyes watched your shy form beside Elain, the corners of his lips tugged upwards but quickly disappeared as he turned his attention back to the eldest Archeron sister.
“Could you fetch it for me, Elain?” Azriel asked gently, and your sister nodded quickly, like a soldier. Not letting go of your hand, she motioned for you to go with her to fetch the letter. “Only you, please.”
Your feet stayed firmly planted, and now the air felt thin. Whatever the Shadowsinger had to say to you was making your nerves bubble.
Elain muttered in discomfort, clearly not wanting to leave you alone with someone she barely knew. Her hand squeezed yours lightly, and you pulled your hand free from her grip, distancing yourself from your sister. With your body facing the man, you encouraged Elain to go. He certainly wouldn’t kill you.
Still, your treacherous mind whispered.
With lips set in a line, Elain quickly made her way to her destination, disappearing into the crowd. The faster she went, the faster she’d be back.
Without your sister nearby, the silence was deafening and uncomfortable, and despite your brief interaction with Azriel, you still found the way his presence surrounded you intimidating.
“Do you have something to say? Or did you just make me stay here for your company?” The words came out sharper than you intended, and perhaps challenging such a powerful fae like him in broad daylight wasn’t the best idea. Shifting your weight, you crossed your arms like a shield. Not that you expected it to stop him.
Your ears perked up when you heard a rough chuckle leave Azriel. His lips pressed together; it wasn’t the response you were expecting.
“I didn’t,” he paused and licked his lips, thinking carefully about his next words. “But I feel like I do now.”
Ah, so much for being mysterious. If this non-human man wanted to make you squirm with anxiety, he was succeeding beautifully.
“And…” your voice carried impatience.
“And I don’t think you should be part of the meeting with the queens.”
Your mind stopped. It felt completely empty, focused only on trying to process Azriel’s words. Letting your arms fall to your sides, you lifted your chin, hoping you were looking at his face as you spoke. “Why? Is there a reason for this?
Simple and shyer than you intended.
Azriel was no longer amused. His face darkened into a scowl as he studied you from your structure to your features – sculpted nose, mouth pulled down, and then, eyes. His eyes were windows to his soul, so sweet that, even if not fully functional, could bring legions to their knees.
And that was the problem.
“The queens aren’t trustworthy, and I don’t want you to be a target. They’re bitter and vile with people…” His words rushed out, his wings tightening behind him, letting the weight of what he had to say burn his tongue. “...weaker ones.”
You bit your cheek until you tasted the faint copper of your blood. Indignation wasn’t the right word to describe what you were feeling, but the disbelief on your flushed face certainly expressed it.
Fragile. The Illyrian who barely knew you for more than a week was insulting you so openly, without a shred of shame. You might not see things like other people, but this made you grow a pair of balls like nothing else, and it wasn’t this male who was going to put you down now.
With clenched fists, you took a step toward him, closing the distance to a breath’s length. The smell of whiskey that had been so enticing returned, but now that you knew who it belonged to, it didn’t seem so intoxicating. Or maybe it was, a little, your mind whispered.
“I don’t think I gave you any right to make assumptions about me, fairy.” You spat the words, especially the scornful nickname you secretly used for him and his brothers.
Azriel growled low, and ah, it wasn’t because of your words.
The rustling of leaves made you step back from the winged male, and quickly, his features softened. Elain stopped next to you, breathless, handing the letter to Azriel, as if it were burning her.
“Here, it arrived last night,” she said before taking your arm and walking away as quickly as possible.
“Thank you,” Azriel acknowledged with a nod. Elain smiled tightly, already guiding you away. His voice came again, but this time as a warning, making your shoulders tense. “Don’t forget what I said.” And then he was gone, swallowed by his shadows as if he had never been there.
Elain furrowed her brow and turned to you, questioning what Azriel had meant.
“Nothing, he didn’t say anything.” Nothing you cared about, at least.
Tumblr media
“Hold your breath,” Nesta reprimanded you, her fingers pulling tighter on your corset strings, her delicate fingers and the crushing leather threatening to break your ribs.
“Tighten it any more, and watch me turn purple on this floor, sister.” You gasped out the words with difficulty. Nesta clearly wanted to kill you. You knew she was against you exposing yourself at the meeting, but you never thought she'd deliberately try to kill you.
“Stop whining, it's ready.” Nesta grumbled, and then her presence pulled away from you, her footsteps echoing as she walked to the vanity in front of you. Your head tilted to the side at the sound of objects clinking. She was making a mess, no doubt.
Nesta's heat returned as she stopped in front of you. Her warm hand held your chin firmly but gently, and the bristles of a brush tickled your lips. It was soft, sticky, with a faint scent of roses. Lipstick.
Nesta was dressing you up like a doll. Your chest warmed at the feeling. Having your sister care for and pamper you like this was a delight. It was fleeting, but so appreciated when it happened.
Pulling the brush from your lips, Nesta glanced at you. Long, trembling lashes, cheeks rosy with powder, angelic features. You were beautiful. A slight tug appeared on her lips, satisfied with her work.
“If you keep staring at me, I’m going to start thinking you like me.” Your playful voice earned an eye roll from Nesta, who, with a huff, stepped away from you, already missing the warmth of her presence.
"Don't be fooled," Nesta retorted playfully, you expected it to be a joke as she took your arm in hers and began guiding you out of your room and into the living room. The shrill creak of the door alerted you that you were passing through the main hall, just a few steps away from the comfortable armchairs that Elain had arranged for you. "Sit down, they should be arriving soon."
Groping for the armchair, you slowly lowered yourself until you were seated. Your sister settled beside you, and barely half a second later, a knock echoed on the door. Nesta took a deep breath beside you, and abruptly stood up, walking toward the door. As much for a brief break, a laugh escaped you. Hopefully, she wouldn't hear it.
The sound of what seemed like a crowd of footsteps approached where you were, low, nervous murmurs could be heard, and a melodic voice, different from those you already knew, made your eyebrow raise in curiosity.
"Sister, you look beautiful," Feyre greeted you warmly, her hands on your shoulder for a hug. A little awkwardly, you stood to hug her better. Nestling your face into her neck, you squeezed her tighter. It felt like you hadn't seen her in a decade. The sound of someone clearing their throat made your sister pull away from the hug, to your disappointment. "Sorry. Mor, this is my younger sister."
Mor? Another fae? You turned to where you thought she was. Mor smiled and approached, taking your hand in hers. Her sudden action made you jump slightly.
"It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Feyre has told me so much about you." Her voice was gentle, her shoulders relaxed, and you let yourself return her smile. She seemed like a woman with a strong spirit. Perhaps Nesta could find a friend in her.
"I'm happy to meet another one of my sister’s friends." You greeted her properly with a nod.
"That's enough, Mor. You're suffocating her." A cold shiver ran down your spine when Azriel's rough voice reached you. The memory of your last encounter still vivid in your mind. Your face twisted into a grimace. Mor huffed and pulled away, muttering about how Azriel was a joy-killer. You could agree with that.
Feyre, beside you, looked at the two of you with suspicion. Since you entered, Azriel hadn't taken his eyes off you, following every movement like a hawk. Your reaction to him only seemed to intrigue her more. With a kiss on your forehead, she guided you to sit again.
It seemed everyone was settling into their places, Elain arriving elegantly late and sitting to your right, Nesta a little farther to your left. You couldn’t tell exactly where everyone else was, but someone was behind you. You could feel the warmth of their presence.
"Stubborn artisan." Damn fae.
Azriel teased you with the nickname. If you could give him nicknames, why not? He took a step closer, leaning against your chair, ignoring the sharp look you shot at him. He bent down slightly, just enough for you to hear, his velvety tone making your hairs stand on end.
"You seemed more inclined to listen that night." Your face heated with the memory. With a small grin, Azriel stood up and turned his gaze away, completely satisfied with himself.
Before you could think of a witty retort, a loud bang echoed through the house, making everyone tense. They’ve arrived. The human queens were finally here. It was time to begin the meeting that would put everything at stake.

my heart belongs to you | portgas d. ace x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Throughout the entire night, it had been Ace's suave advances toward you that allowed you to fall at his feet. But right now, in the dim light of your desk lamp, you decided to take control — wanting him to crumble and beg from inside you.
word count: 9.2k
cw/tags: fem!reader, x reader, college/modern!au, drinking/getting drunk, slight tw for sexual harassment, smut!!, p in v, unprotected sex, oral sex (reader receiving), backshots (reader receiving), missionary sex, and other things I probably forgot, if there's grammar errors no there isn't, MDNI pls!!
Tumblr media
“But why nottttt?”
It’s nine PM on a Friday night and your lively red-headed roommate is, yet again, attempting to drag you out from the warmth of your fluffy sheets. Nami fixes herself in the mirror, running her gold hoops through the healed tissue of her delicate ears. She was dressed in a noisy costume that resembled a belly dancer, her purple/blue skirt jingling as if to announce every movement. She’d mentioned a party with an “Arabian Nights” theme. What’s a PWI without a little cultural appropriation?
“‘Cause I’ve just spent my entire day studying for my chem midterm that’s in a week! I can’t afford to fail this one or I swear I’m gonna drop out,” you responded, hands covering your face with an exasperated sigh. It was times like these where you seriously regretted declaring a STEM major.
“Oh come on! You trap yourself in this dorm all day, [y/n]. Why don’t you just let loose for one night? I promise you it’ll be fun!”
Nami’s big, warm eyes tempted you for a moment. Getting your mind to focus on literally anything other than the impending exam enticed you. What’s the harm in blowing off a bit of steam?
“I don’t even have anything to-”
Before you could even complete that sentence, Nami raises a nearly identical outfit to the one on her body. Her teasing smirk revealed that she had gotten what she wanted. After all, it was hard saying no to her. You let out a frustrated sigh, “I hate you.”
You stared at your exposed chest in the mirror, overanalyzing the way the thin, almost see-through fabric hugged your waist. There was extra room surrounding your chest, which made sense considering the top was meant to fit your blessed friend just right. You’ve never been the most secure person, body issues being your number one enemy. Comparison is the thief of joy, they say. However, no matter which way you poked and prodded at your dismal appearance, Nami never failed to boost your confidence.
“You’re stunning!” she exclaimed, taking your hand and twirling you around. This playful gesture was rewarded with a soft smile from your lips. “Seriously, these guys are gonna be all over you.”
“I’m not sure if I want that,” you chuckled, your laughter trailing off into a shy smile. Your hands instinctively wrapped around your exposed stomach, hugging yourself to accessorize the foreign look with a familiar feeling.
Nami collected her things, disregarding your last comment, almost as if she was purposely ignoring you. “As long as we have fun, it’ll be a good night. Now, let’s go before the guys change their mind! Luffy and the others are already downstairs, probably looking like creeps waiting for someone to key them in.”
You gave Nami a hearty laugh, recalling the last time you’d gone out. A tipsy Luffy and high Usopp trying to convince residents to let them enter your building after a small pregame had been a recipe for disaster. They made sure to let you know how many times they’d been met with “hell no”-’s and weird stares. Eventually, Zoro was able to coax someone into letting only him in, which hadn’t been hard since many of the girls favored the captain of the school’s ice hockey team.
Arriving at the party had been enough of an adventure to make you want to crawl back in bed. The chill of the early October air prickled your skin, foreshadowing the “Bikinis and Beanies” season that was upcoming for every frat to exploit. The catcalling and wandering eyes that followed your every move is what really sent chills down your spine. You’d never been perceived so much at once that it was becoming overwhelming. Sanji, the observant gentleman he is, caught on to your discomfort, “Something the matter, princess?”
His unrelenting corny nicknames had earned their fair share of grievances over the last few months, so much so that you’ve learned to completely ignore them overall.
“Nuh uh, just cold. Thanks though,” you gave him a soft smile, despite the fact that you really just wanted to go back to your dorm. When you’d turn back around, he made sure to glare menacingly at the groups of men who made you feel uncomfortable. Only I’m allowed to bother these girls, he thought to himself.
After weaving through multiple sweaty bodies, bumping into not-so-friendly women (and men), and risking your feet getting crushed under the weight of the crowd, you guys had finally made your way in. Thanks to Zoro and Luffy’s street cred, passing through “security” had been a breeze. A quick dap-up and head nod from the pair was enough to let your group of seven pass through smoothly. It wasn’t long before the crew dispersed – you, Nami, and Robin making your way to the drinks (with Sanji following close behind, of course); Luffy and Usopp spotting some friends in a nearby corner; and Zoro bee-lining to the back of the party to partake in his usual wallflower activities, surveying the area in case something went down. A brief pang of sadness struck your heart as you watched Zoro’s back move in silence. The small ember of feelings lingered from your unrequited crush. You’d never dare tell him about your feelings though, secretly hoping that they would subside to avoid conflict within the group.
You turned back to your girlfriends, a red solo cup already meeting your gaze. Nami gives you a knowing smirk, “Looks like you’re gonna need this.”
Nami and Robin had known about your crush for quite some time, for they were the only members of your group to be trusting enough not to tell Zoro. You gladly accepted the mystery beverage, I’ll figure out what’s in it sooner or later. As the cup met your lips, your tongue was greeted with a sweet and sour flavor, accompanied by a burning sensation down your throat. Your brows furrowed instinctively, wincing at the horrid flavor, but gradually accepted the drink into your mouth. You’d always hated the process of getting drunk, but it was always worth it when you’d leave the party a giggly (and flirty) mess.
“How is it?” Robin queried, although she already knew the answer based on your initial reaction.
“Oh it’s terrible,” you stated bluntly, followed by a giggle from each of you. “But I know it’ll be worth it so what’s the harm?”
Little did you know, the “harm” would arrive later, a consequence of your drunken attempt to clear your mind from the yearning.
…
It was well into the night, music still blasting from every direction and no sign of the party dying down. Luffy had spotted a familiar face in the crowd of sweaty, gyrating bodies on his way to the bathroom (or at least he hoped he had, the alcohol made his vision a bit wobbly).
“That you, Ace??” he shouted, gaining the attention of the muscular man. He wore long black shorts with a red scarf tied around his waistband. His shaggy black hair fit snugly under an orange cap, small beads of sweat allowing some of its strands to stick to his forehead just right. It wasn’t until Luffy could make out the constellation of freckles on his rosy cheeks and the thick tattoo down his arm that read “ASCE”, that he could officially identify his older brother.
“Luffy!” the man beamed. “What’s up? I didn’t know you’d be here! Hey guys, this is my little brother, Luffy!”
Ace wasn’t your typical “older brother”. Despite being three years older than him, Ace had never been ashamed or embarrassed of Luffy, but rather, embraced him proudly whenever he came around. It was the other way around, really, Ace always meddling into Luffy’s business and Luffy pushing him away. Which is why when Ace pulled him into a headlock, ruffling up his brother’s hair, Luffy pleaded to be set free, “Oh c’mon Ace! Let me go already!”
Ace’s booming belly laughter combined with Luffy’s grunts and giggles attracted the attention of people around them, including your group. It’s not everyday you see a guy and his bungling kid brother tussle at a frat party.
“Is that…Luffy?” Robin asked, her slender fingers pointing in the direction past your left shoulder. You turned around, immediately laying eyes on the scene of flailing arms and legs. The shorter, more lean figure uttered something loud and obnoxious, you presume. However, you missed it entirely, as your focus was set on the big, sculpted bicep that held your friend in place.
“...and Ace, I guess,” Nami added, her voice tinged with annoyance, bothered that they had begun to cause such a scene.
“Wait, that’s Ace??”
Luffy had mentioned his older brothers Ace and Sabo before, but failed to acknowledge that one of those boys was incredibly beautiful. Then, as if he had heard your inner thoughts, the young man lifted his head, meeting your gaze from across the room. His strikingly dark eyes burned a hole right through yours, filling your entire body up with a familiar kind of electricity you’ve only felt once before. You felt your cheeks flush instantly, turning back around swiftly to avoid eye contact any longer. So much for “liquid courage,” you thought to yourself. Your bashful reaction made the man smile, releasing his brother and slinging an arm around Luffy’s shoulders, guiding him through the sea of people to approach your group. Anxiety flowed through your entire nervous system as you heard large footsteps advancing toward you.
“Hello ladies,” Ace greeted, his voice deeper and mellow compared to the enthusiasm that filled it moments ago.
Nami scoffed, Was he trying to make himself sound cooler? “What brings you here, Ace?”
“Oh c’mon Nami, you know my school is socially dead. It’s community college – everyone goes to class then gets the hell out,” Ace stated plainly. “Plus the parties here are some of the best I’ve been to.
You felt the presence of the man directly behind you, the warmth of his sweaty body lingering around the small of your back. At this point you’d still avoided eye contact, not even turning around to acknowledge the pair behind you. Without even realizing it, you began to nibble at the edge of the plastic cup, a nervous tick you had developed in these social settings.
Ace knew that you were avoiding him, sparking his interest in you just a little more. “And who’s this?”
You winced upon hearing the smile in his voice, cursing yourself for being so awkward. You decided to blame it on the alcohol, after all, you were a little rusty coming back into the party scene.
“Oh! That’s [y/n]!” Luffy exclaimed. He was always excited to introduce you to new people because he knew you were a little timid. “She’s totally awesome and one of my best friends and- wait,” the boy turned to you, a puzzled look flashing across his face, “What’re you actin’ so shy for, [y/n]?? It’s just Ace.”
Geez Luffy, any more obvious???? You took a deep breath and finally decided to turn around, greeting your goofy friend with a tight smile and a “I’ll kill you” look in your eyes. As you reluctantly take a step forward to bring Luffy into a hug, Ace shifts to the side to make room for the both of you. Luffy, completely absorbed in an alternate reality due to his drunkenness, gladly accepts your embrace. He lifts you into the air and twirls you around, the spinning room colliding with the alcohol in your system. When he (not very gracefully) places you back on the floor, you stumble a little bit from the buzz, almost as if the spinning accelerated the intoxication process. The brown strapped sandals that Nami had lent you didn’t help ground you either, lacking their usual traction from excessive use. Suddenly, you feel firm, hot hands stabilizing your exposed waist. Your breath hitched suddenly, uh oh.
“Woah there,” Ace chuckled, “You okay?”
You hadn’t even spoken a single word to this man, yet made several embarrassing attempts to keep it that way. Mortified, you decided that you had to redeem yourself somehow. The easiest way to cope with embarrassment has always been your sense of humor, so that’s exactly what you did.
Opposed to stiffening in his grasp, you relaxed and rested your back onto his bare chest. You could feel the rise and fall, taking in the feeling of his solid pecs on your shoulder blades. As you turned your head to meet the man’s gaze, your eyes trailed the path from his glistening collarbones, to his brawny neck and tracing the sharpness of his jaw. You admired the way his jet black hair contrasted with his fair, peachy skin, allowing yourself to wonder how good he would look with a summer tan. To your surprise, Ace had already been looking down, waiting for your soft eyes to meet his gaze.
Your eyes quickly flickered to his lips, and then back to his eyes. With the retort already in mind, you smirked, anticipating his reaction to the words about to leave your lips, “Y’know, I usually let a guy take me out on a date before I let him start touching me.”
You had still been chuckling at the jab you threw at the man that you almost missed the words that followed, “Then maybe you should go out with me.”
Ace had said it so matter-of-factly that you could’ve played it off as someone casually making conversation next to you. The smug grin on his face is not exactly helping. What??
The amusement that colored your face quickly bled into horror, taken aback by the certainty of his voice. Peeling yourself off of him, you escaped his grasp and turned your body to face him correctly. A deep scoff and the giggles from your friends helped reel you back into reality.
“Yeah right,” you scoffed. It wasn’t exactly what you wanted to say, but you couldn’t really just accept a date from a man you just met. Yes, you’d been one of Luffy’s (many) best friend’s, however, this friendship was an entirely new development.
You’d met Luffy and his crew at the beginning of your first semester at the university. It was a warm summer evening, the blazing September sun setting on your move-in day. You watched the mixture of vibrant oranges and pinks color the sky from your dorm window, when a sudden burst of commotion startled you. Nami had burst through the door with a large suitcase in her left hand and tote bag in her right.
“God, Luffy, can you wait five seconds?! These heavy ass bags already make it nearly impossible to open the door so the last thing I need is your fatass breathing down my neck-” Nami cut her outburst short when she saw you standing and staring at her with a frightened look in your eyes. “Oh my god, I am so sorry! I’m Nami.”
She placed her bags down and extended a hand out to you, her fingers and wrist decorated with dainty golden rings and bangles. You nearly experienced whiplash adjusting to the sudden switch in her demeanor. Reluctantly, you took her hand, worried that if you hadn’t you’d be met with the same wrath. Taking a peek over her shoulder, you spotted the source of her anger, grimacing and mocking her with rolled eyes. However, this childish act ceased when he noticed you looking at him, holding back your laughter.
“I’m [y/n]…and I take it that you must be Luffy,” you extended your hand to the boy, his firm and eager hand immediately taking yours.
“Yup! Just ignore her, she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I was totally helping!”
“Yeah, if the helping was you whining and begging for something to eat, you definitely succeeded!”
After you had helped Nami finish moving into your shared room, they had both invited you out with them to explore the college town. From there you met the rest of the group: Robin, Vivi, Usopp, Sanji, and Zoro. It was this very first night where you fell in love with the group’s dynamic. Their lively attitude and close bond made you feel as if you had known them your whole life, providing you with a sense of both friendship and family. Luffy and his group had become your home-away-from-home.
It was until this very moment, however, where you let your mind indulge in selfish thoughts. You had cursed yourself for meeting such a loving and forgiving group of people, wishing that you could break the forbidden rule of hooking up with your best friend’s brother for just one night.
Luffy glared at his older brother and groaned, “Ace can you stop flirting with my friends?? [y/n] would never wanna go out with an ape like you.”
“Yeah whatever,” Ace chuckled lightly. Whether it was the alcohol or delusion that fed your mind, you couldn’t help notice the hint of embarrassment in his tone. “I’ll catch you guys later. It was a pleasure meeting you, [y/n].”
The man tipped his hat in your direction, accompanying the gesture with a small wink. You couldn’t help but blush, “Bye Ace.”
As Ace begins to make his way back to his group, Luffy follows suit, saying his goodbyes and looking to return to Usopp. You giggle at the sight of Luffy carelessly bumping into others, brushing them off when they start bitching at him for being so clumsy.
“Soooo, it looks like Ace has taken a liking to you,” Vivi teased with a knowing smile. Your group had met up with hers around the drinks table, unaware that she was even at this party.
“Does..that happen often?” you asked, worried that you had just fallen for the stereotypical fuck-boy tactic of wooing you solely for his entertainment.
Nami chimes in, her lips smacking after finishing her drink, “Not necessarily, Ace just has a naturally flirty personality. At some point I thought he wanted me until I realized that’s just who he is — a flirty, more handsome version of Luffy.”
The thought of Ace taking an interest in Nami suddenly made your mouth go sour, a pit of envy and sadness twisting in your stomach. Then, as if she had noticed the discomfort on your face, Nami reassured you, “But I promise he doesn’t! Like I said, he’s just naturally flirty so there’s nothing there at all. Like seriously, never in a million years.”
“It’s okay Nami,” you chuckled. “It’s not like I’d actually go after him. That’s crazy! I could never do that to Luffy. Plus I’ve already toed the line with my feelings for Zoro…I just could never risk losing someone so close to me.”
The feeling of Zoro’s name rolling off your tongue stung, wishing you’d been using it under a different circumstance. Zoro had always failed to reciprocate your feelings, whether that was laughing off your flirty advances toward him or just simply putting you in the friend zone.
“You know you’re one of my best friends, right?” was his famous line, a sweet gesture considering you’d seen him let other girls down more harshly. The truth was that Zoro hadn’t been interested in anything romantic with anyone. Sure, he flirted and entertained girls here and there, but it never went further than a clean cut hook up. He had been more concerned with achieving his personal goals — fulfilling his duties as becoming a great hockey player and creating a name for himself in the big leagues. He believed that a craving for a “real” romance would be a wasteful distraction. Of course, you didn’t know that (or chose not to believe it anyway). Reminiscing on such embarrassing and pathetic memories stung your throat, scolding yourself for being so bold back then. The embarrassment rising in your throat caused you to quickly grab another cup, nearly filling it to the brim with the similar concoction you had begun to drink earlier only with more alcohol.
“Hey, are you okay [y/n]?” Robin asked, her sincere voice filled with concern.
You took a long sip, hoping to wash away the discomfort. Turning to the blue-eyed woman, you flashed her an attempt of a soft smile, “Never been better.”
The events of the night began to blend together hazily, the alcohol almost completely consuming you at this point. Your feet felt light, almost as if you were floating through the party, your heavy eyelids being the only thing weighing you down. Eventually, your bladder had angrily let you know it was time to relieve itself before humiliating you in the sea of people. Nami and the girls asked if you needed any help making your way over to the bathroom but you assured them you’d be okay. It wasn’t until you got a considerable distance away from your group that you realized you actually didn’t know where the bathroom was. The obnoxiously loud music and the half-shrugs of drunken bystanders led you to a dead end. It wasn’t until you noticed a familiar silhouette that you began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, that light quickly faded when you realized that your saving grace was the king of getting lost — Roronoa Zoro himself.
You swallowed your pride after a small fit of whining and dragged your feet over to the young man leaning against the wall, silently praying that he at least knew the bathroom’s general direction. The sharp sensation that consumed the lower half of your body was suddenly redirected to your stomach at the sight before you, causing you to stop in your tracks. Zoro was talking to someone…and that someone was a girl. You could make out the dark, harsh shadow that traced his jawline moving slowly, whispering something intently into the girl’s ear. The smug grin on his rosy lips let you know that he wasn’t just talking to her, but flirting. And by the look on her face, he was doing it well, her dark eyes filled with lust and mischief. She began to play with the thin gold chain that draped across his collarbone, twirling it in between her long, slender fingers. Tears began to prickle behind your eyes, a lump forming in your throat as you passed the scene, refusing to make eye contact. I didn’t want your fucking help anyway.
The combination of tears and intoxication made it incredibly hard to see, feeling your way through the crowd as your only form of navigation. You hadn’t been watching where you were going — all you knew was that you needed to find a bathroom and STAT. This fit of jealousy and carelessness led you straight into a hard surface, which would have easily been mistaken for a wall had you not felt the squishiness of flesh that accompanied it. It wasn’t long before you realized that you had run head-first into someone’s spine, causing them to frantically turn around.
“Hey! Watch where you’re-“ the irritated voice began, however, it became soft immediately upon seeing the expression on your face. “[y/n]? What's the matter??”
Removing the hand from your forehead after the dull pain subsided, you made eye contact with the tall figure. The tight squeezing of your eyes had finally let the tears fall, small streaks of black trickling down your cheeks. The person you collided with was none other than Portgas D. Ace. He gently began to wipe the tears away, his large hand cupping your jaw and the other resting on your bare shoulder. The tenderness behind his every move made you melt into his touch. You had no time to feel embarrassed or sorry for yourself as the stinging in your bladder had returned once again.
“I really need to use the bathroom,” was all you could muster between the soft sobs that escaped your lips. Ace chuckled softly, relieved that you hadn’t been in any actual danger.
“C’mon I’ll show you,” he said, lightly grabbing your hand and guiding you through the masses of people. Unfortunately for you, he had been leading you right back to where Zoro had been. It turns out the bathroom was directly adjacent to where he had made his post for the night. Only a few more steps and you would’ve made it (almost) scotch-free.
You could’ve fell to your knees at the sight of a free bathroom with no line, a rare commodity at any college party. You threw a brief “thanks” at Ace, fumbling with the door knob as the pain of an overly full bladder consumes your entire being. After relieving yourself, you stared deeply into your own eyes, your reflection warped and swaying like a fun-house mirror. You began to breathe heavily, hunched over the sink attempting to sober yourself up so you wouldn’t get lost on the way back to Nami’s group—also so they wouldn’t notice that you had been crying. The more you stared, the more you noticed how disheveled you truly were: dried mascara smeared across your cheeks, your lip liner and gloss completely gone, hair frizzy and sticking to your sweaty forehead. Wow so this night actually could get worse. Quickly, you cleaned your face up with your fingers and some warm water, figuring everyone was too drunk to notice the difference. Reapplying your staple lip combination, you assure yourself that it’s close enough to the way you always wear it.
Upon leaving the bathroom, you’re met with the hairy chest of a larger man, beads of sweat allowing his olive skin to glisten under the faint hallway light. Startled from the sudden contact, you jump back, a small squeal escaping your throat.
“Shit, sorry!” you shout, hoping the man can hear you over the blaring music. His eyes are drooping and his movements are slowed, the pungent smell of alcohol radiating off his body. You attempt to scooch your way past him, however, he blocks your path by putting his arm against the doorframe. The remnants of alcohol now clash with his disgusting body odor, the smell so strong it’s enough to make you heave.
“Whereya’ off to, beautiful?” the strange man slurs, his lips turning up into an awkward smirk. This cannot be happening right now.
You scoff, growing more and more irritated by the second. The last thing you needed right now was to be harassed by a disgusting frat brother at a party you begrudgingly agreed to attend.
“Nowhere that should concern you,” you stated curtly, hoping the man would take the hint that you were completely uninterested.
You aggressively shoved his arm out of the way, clearing an opening for your escape. However, you hadn’t even gotten four paces away from the scene when you felt a harsh grip pulling on your arm. Horrified at the audacity, you turn around and meet the man’s drunken glaze, his face still decorated with that terrible grin.
“Dude! Leave me the fuck alone!” you exclaim, tugging your arm in an attempt to escape his death grip.
“Oh c’monn,” he hiccuped, “Don’t be like that. I can show ya’ a g’d time, ya know?”
It wasn’t long until you realized that trying to escape was going to be a lot harder than you had anticipated. As the man began to drag you further into the dark abyss of the empty restroom, your breath hitched and your heart began to race. Whatever trace of alcohol that had plagued your system merely a few minutes prior was now completely gone, the adrenaline kick-starting your fight-or-flight. You frantically begin to search around, praying to the heavens above that someone, anyone, would come to your aid. The rapid breathing made it extremely hard to speak, let alone scream.
“Please, just let me go,” you pleaded, sobs beginning to get caught on the lump in your throat. You’d heard of the horror stories of girls who had been taken advantage of at events like these, never imagining that it would happen to you.
Seconds before you had accepted your fate, a blur of a fleshy pink ball flashed across your face, the wind from its speed grazing your nose. The man holding you captive was suddenly thrown into the wall, a loud crash following the sound of blood splattering. The party suddenly went still, the air thick with tension. You snapped your head around, your eyes landing on Ace, who had been glaring intensely at the unconscious figure on the floor.
“She said to leave her alone, asshole!” he shouted, his booming voice startling you. His gaze quickly met yours, and suddenly, Ace’s dark eyes had color to them. The aged yellowish lighting of the overhead lamp illuminated the deep chestnut brown that lined his pupils, bleeding into a fiery amber. Ace’s expression immediately softened upon noticing the frightened look across your face, “Are you okay?”
His eyes darted to the bruised imprint of the man’s hand that colored your arm. Ace’s brows furrowed as he watched you wince, a stinging pain radiating through your arm as you attempted to wave him off, “Yeah I’m okay. Thank you, Ace”
Swarms of bystanders rush to the scene, some recording on their phones, others whispering and muttering “what the fuck”-s and “what just happened”-s as they attempt to assess the situation. The adrenaline quickly wears off as you realize what just happened, a pit forming in your stomach and tears stinging your eyes for the millionth time, unsure if you had any left to cry. Ace gently places a hand on the small of your back to guide you away from the scene, wincing slightly from the contact. He scans the crowd for familiar faces, hoping to see Luffy or anyone that would be able to take better care of you in this situation. He understands that he cannot properly tend to your needs because doesn’t know you. He’s afraid of hurting you any further, afraid of saying or doing something inappropriate that could lead you to resent him in the future.
“Do you know where Luffy is?” he asks you, voiced riddled with urgency. He huffs a strained sigh when you shake your head, his rosy lips flapping as he blows a small raspberry. “Okay, I‘ll just take you to Nami—she’ll know what to d-”
The music is suddenly cut, the clamoring of confused voices and boos filling the room. A large man climbs on top of a rather unstable and disgusting table, cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify his announcement, “IF YOURE NOT A BROTHER, FUCKING A BROTHER, OR IF YOURE PORTGAS D. ACE THEN GET THE FUCK OUT BEFORE WE CALL THE COPS!!!”
You and Ace turn to each other and immediately lock eyes, your wide-eyed expressions mirroring each other. A sinister smirk creeps onto the man's face as he begins to chuckle, his velvet eyelashes brushing against his freckled cheeks as he begins to laugh harder. Annoyed groans fill the room as people begin to make their way out of the party, one voice in particular muttering a “not again”. Ace fully latches on to your wrist now, his large, calloused hands enveloping your soft skin. He rushes you through the sea of people, holding onto his hat as he quickly weaves in between them. Occasionally, he’ll look back at you to make sure you’re still in one piece as you try to keep up with him. Based on his mischievous attitude, you infer that this was not his first rodeo.
It turns out that Ace had accumulated many fraternity enemies, usually for keeping the brothers in check and correcting their disgusting habits.
“Serving justice is apparently frowned upon nowadays,” Ace had retorted. The two of you had taken refuge on a curb a few houses down from the scene of the party, the cold pavement scratching your hardly-covered thighs. You brought your knees to your chest to seek some warmth, the heat from the man next to you helped ease the chill that prickled your skin. Ace’s charming sarcasm made it easy to talk to him, almost as if you two had been friends for years.
“So what made you choose community college — not that it’s bad or anything!” you reassured, hoping your innocent curiosity didn’t come off as ignorantly presumptuous. “I just ask because Luffy attends the university, so I wonder why…you didn’t do the same?”
Ace gives you a soft smile, letting you know that he was not at all offended by your question. “It definitely wasn’t my first choice, but I realized that it would’ve been much easier to be closer to home.”
You notice the way he nervously fidgets with the ends of his shorts, pinching and twisting the fabric into intricate positions. I really shouldn't pry...
"Listen, we don't have to talk about this if you don't want to. Trust me, I get how uncomfortable these things can be," you chuckled, attempting to lighten the mood.
"It's no big deal, really," Ace replied, a warm smile creeping across his face. He turned to look into the early morning sky, the faint constellation of the night's stars remaining. You traced the sharp curve of his jawline with your eyes, soaking in all of the features you had failed to notice before. In the crook of his neck, you found a cluster of freckles that had made their home there. You memorized the way his hair pooled at the base of his neck, dusky waves surrounding his delicate skin. His dark eyes flickered back and forth as they traced the stars — you could almost see the words he was trying to begin with.
"I never enjoyed my father's presence, not that he was at home much anyway. He always pushed my brothers and I to 'follow in his footsteps,' even though we made it abundantly clear we wanted nothing to do with him," Ace scoffed, the venom in his words causing him to grimace. The down curve of his lips accentuated the small scar that rested on his bottom lip. "He never cared much for any of us, always leaving for days on end. Hell, I got so used to him being gone that I had to step in and help my mom raise my two brothers. His main target was always Luffy, just cause he's the youngest he thought he could easily be manipulated. That obviously didn't get him very far though — you know how hardheaded Luffy can be when he really sets his mind to stuff."
You chuckled softly at the thought, oh do I ever. The memory of the time Luffy had helped you rearrange your dorm sprang into your mind. It was originally Nami's idea, believing that a "change of scenery" would help clear her mind from her impending statistics exam. Luffy had relentlessly insisted that you loft your bed a little higher to "make more room for activities," ultimately clearing some of the clutter that gathered across the floor. You had argued that it would make getting comfortable in your bed 1000x more difficult. However, as much as you pleaded, Luffy refused to listen to you, believing that it was his way or the high way. You reluctantly gave in to his suggestion (which had actually been an incredible upgrade as you were able to organize the room much easier — but you'd never admit that to Luffy).
"Yeah, he's a handful," you smiled, deciding to relieve your hair from its exhausted updo. "but I love him, nonetheless. He talks a lot about you, y'know."
Ace smiled, "Yeah well, it wasn't always like that. At the same time, him and I always butted heads — selfishly, I wanted him to stay closer to home to help me with mom, while he wanted to get away and have his own freedom. It took me a while to realize that I was just projecting my feelings onto him, a funny habit I learned from my father"
You hadn't expected to get on such a vulnerable level with Portgas D. Ace, but here you were — sitting on a curb listening to him open up about his childhood. The way his body completely relaxed while he spoke to you made you forget about your romantic feelings toward him. The facade of the flirty older brother had slipped. Instead, the comfortable silence between you two allowed you to admire him at a respectable distance, taking in every syllable that escaped his lips as he revealed his heart to you.
"...which is why when he got accepted here, I knew that I had to let him go be his own man. I owe everything to my mother, and I just couldn't leave home knowing that her life would be a living hell."
"I'm glad it all worked out for you guys. Your selflessness led me to meet the best people I've ever met in my entire life," you jested, bumping into his side with your exposed shoulder. The ease surrounding you caused you to be a little more bold. "...including you. If it weren't for you tonight, I would've gotten seriously hurt. So thank you again, truly."
The air between you two grew unexpectedly warm, the gap filling in with his heat as he leaned in. His large, calloused hand gently cupped your jaw, tracing the smooth skin as if to memorize your delicate features. Ace's firm fingers raked through the hair that resides on the nape of your neck, pulling your closer to him. His lips stopped millimeters before clashing with yours, his breath mingling and teasing yours.
"Is this okay?" he asked, his honey-colored eyes burning holes into yours. Speechlessly, you nod your head, eyes flickering back and forth between his eyes and his lips. Your eagerness dragged a husky laugh from his throat "I was hoping you'd say that."
So much for non-romantic feelings
Ace's warm, plushy lips smashed into yours, drinking in the way you taste. His tongue peeked through to part your lips, creating an entrance to the deep labyrinth behind them. You allowed him to dominate the kiss, your back arching to meet his warm chest as you both breathe heavily into each other. Ace places a gentle hand on the small of your back, gesturing you to relax your weight into his arms. You do so with pleasure, using his strength as leverage to meet his pace. Your hands hungrily find their way into his hair, ruffling up the sides as you grip onto his jet black locks. The two of you momentarily break away, catching your breath before Ace's red-hot lips travel down your neck. He ravenously suckles on the exposed skin before biting down, causing you to huff a moan from the painful sensation. Your hands escaped from his hair as you brought his face to meet yours, the two of you smiling through the kiss as you briefly locked eyes. It was as if you had never sobered up — drunk on the pheromones and lust that radiated from his body. The two of you were so enveloped in each other that you hadn't noticed the large, white vehicle pull up in front of you. The moment was over as quickly as it began, a long, blaring horn echoing down the street. The sudden change in volume caused you to jump, Ace accidentally biting your bottom lip. You pulled away instantly, wiping your mouth and refusing to make eye contact with anyone as the horror settled in on what you had just done.
"Sanji??? What the hell are you doing here?!" you shouted angrily into the void, carving out the silhouette of the man in the driver's seat through the dimly lit tip of his cigarette.
"What am I doing here? You're the one perched up on the curb sucking face! Get in the car, I'm taking everyone back to the dorms."
"Don't worry, [y/n]!! Luffy's in the back passed out, didn't see a thing I promise!" Nami hiccuped, the slight slurring of her words alerted you that she was intoxicated.
Reluctantly, you enter through the side door, climbing over the seemingly lifeless bodies of your friends. A pang of guilt strikes your chest as your eyes land on Zoro, peacefully sleeping with Luffy on his shoulder. You quickly shake off the feeling, preventing your heart from getting caught in a web of conflict, spiraling out of control. Instead, you allow your heart to beat for someone else — turning back to Ace and giving him a warm smile as you take a seat next to his little brother.
"Why don't you join us? I'm sure your buddies won't mind you staying with one of the guys," you said, your random act of kindness earning a grimace from Sanji in the front seat, cursing you under his breath.
The glimmer in his eyes shifted from excitement to mischief, his bright smile curving into something more sinister, "Why don't I stay with you?"
Your breath hitches, the air in the car becoming tense as you feel pairs of wide eyes burning holes into the side of your face. Sanji nearly tips the car over as he whips his body around, the ash of the cigarette falling on the center console as his jaw hangs open. The boy behind you stirs as the Zoro wakes, his brows contorting into an expression of disgust and confusion.
"She's not easy, y'know" Zoro argues, his voice raspy from the combination of sleep and alcohol. "I know you're used to that kinda thing but [y/n] is different, so have someone else pick you up. There's not even room for you in here."
Ace's expression never faltered. In fact, it quirked into something even more playful as he shrugged, "Well then I guess [y/n] will just have to sit on my lap."
Your cheeks burned hot, anger and embarrassment morphing your face into a bright crimson. Why is Zoro acting out now?? Since when has he ever cared about my love life? Zoro sucked his teeth as he turned to face the window, huffing a sigh of frustration as he shook his head.
"Since when do you care?" you snapped, your previous bout of irritation rising in your throat.
"I don't. I'm just looking out for you," Zoro replied, hardly maintaining eye contact with you. He'd never admit this to your face, but you kinda scared him whenever you got upset — almost as much as Nami did.
"Well don't. I can make my own decisions." You stepped out of the car to make some room for Ace, whose eyes watched you with admiration. As soon as he made his way in, you hoisted yourself onto his lap, Ace's rough hands guiding you to a spot that was comfortable enough for the two of you. You had become hypersensitive to his touch — the feeling of Ace's legs spreading beneath you, the way his hands never left your waist, his warm breath huffing against your exposed back caused warmth to pool between your legs.
"Are we at McDonalds?" Luffy queried, his eyes half-open as he bobbles his head to assess the situation. His silly question relieved some of the tension that had built up in the car, everyone chuckling and releasing the breath they had been holding throughout the small quarrel.
"Lemme get a Big Mac and large fries," Usopp shouts from the back, his legs sprawled across Vivi and Robin's laps.
...
After sneaking past the RA's room with a giggly Nami, Vivi offers to take her off your hands for the night.
"Don't worry [y/n], we'll take her for the night," the blue-haired woman smiled, "She can borrow a pair of my pajamas for now. I'll make sure she stays in one piece."
You gave her a small chuckle, thanking her and Robin for their service.
"Be safe and let me know if you need anything! We're just down the hall."
"Use protection!" Robin added, chuckling as you gave her a stern, mortified look.
Upon opening the door, you pave the way into your dorm room by picking up the articles of clothing left sprawled across the floor. You shove them into your closet quickly, hoping Ace hadn't seen the disgusting mess you and Nami left the room in. He did.
"You can take my bed if you want," you said, smoothing out your sheets and fluffing your pillows so that it's comfortable for your unexpected guest. Ace watched you as you did so, his bare back pressed against the large wooden door. He took note of the way your back arched to pull the sheets straight, your hair draping over your right shoulder to reveal the tone of your back muscles. His eyes traced over the curve of your ass, wishing your skirt had been just a little shorter so that he could see your silky legs. Using his heels, Ace pushed off the door and made his way over to you. You turn around to meet his gaze, attempting to read his thoughts through his dark eyes. His hands wrap around your waist as he leans in, planting a soft, yet hungry, kiss on your lips. Your arms travel to drape around his neck, pressing your body against his. Ace picks you up in one swift motion, gripping the back of your thighs for support as you straddle his waist.
Ace pulls away, lips a deep red and slick with your saliva mixed with his. "We both know that's not what you want."
His sly words worked their way straight down to your core, huffing a laugh as you nuzzled your face into the crook of his neck, "Is it that obvious?"
Ace trails gentle kisses down your neck, his warmth bleeding across your skin as he works his way down your shoulder, "Maybe a little."
You cup his cheeks between your hands, bringing his attention back to your lips. Ace shifts your entire weight onto one of his arms, using his free hand to fumble with the strings of your top. Once undone, you shrug off the fabric, revealing the supple skin of your breasts. Ace spins around and throws you onto your fluffy comforter, admiring the way your tits bounced upon impact. You kept your arms raised by your head, allowing him to take in your curves as you maintained eye contact. Before you knew it, Ace is already fumbling with his shorts, kicking them off to reveal the length pitching underneath his boxers. He slowly peels off your long skirt, leaving just your white lacy panties. Ace makes room for himself between your legs, his hard cock grinding against your slick entrance. You gasped from the friction against your swollen clit, unsure of how you were gonna handle the way he would fill you up.
"Please, Ace. I need you," you gasped, begging him to take it further. You can feel his smile against your skin. Ace never would've taken you for the submissive type. Recognizing your request, Ace makes his way down to your core, leaving kisses from down your stomach to the inside of your thighs. Getting on his knees, Ace lifts you up from the small of your back, dragging you down to meet his mouth. He leaves small hickeys dangerously close to your already-throbbing cunt, biting and suckling the thin layer of skin that resides there. Frustrated from the teasing, you direct your attitude toward the black waves that decorate his head — tugging and ruffling his hair. Ace huffs a breathy laugh into your core, the warmth from his mouth causing your back to arch off the twin-sized mattress.
After what felt like ages of foreplay, Ace finally peels your panties to the side, revealing your dripping cunt. He places a long kiss onto your swollen clit before relieving you of your bottoms entirely. You spread your legs wider out of instinct, inviting him to drink in the way you taste. Ace brings your legs to rest over his shoulders as he dives into your core, hungrily exploring every fold with his tongue. His strong nose glides across your sensitive bud as he eats you out, his tongue rhythmically sliding in and out of your entrance. The sweet sounds of your slick against his mouth fill the room, your moans following closely behind. You begin to squirm underneath his grasp as you approach your climax, pressure building inside your stomach.
"I'm close, Ace" you plead breathlessly. "Please don't stop."
The trembling of your thighs was Ace's queue to increase his speed, lapping and suckling harder and faster to help you finish. He inserts his long, girth fingers into your slick entrance, hooking them up to find your sweet spot. The hiss of pleasure that escaped your mouth let him know that he succeeded, pumping his fingers in and out until your nectar coated them entirely.
"Fuck, Ace! I'm comingggnh ah-" you shouted, the combination of his strong fingers and his nimble tongue pushing you over the edge, your cunt squirting its sweet release all over his face and your freshly washed sheets.
"That's it, baby," Ace reassured, using his tongue to clean the mess from between your legs. He's always been a firm believer of prioritizing a woman's pleasure over his own, making sure you were attended to before he got his share. Once his hunger was satisfied (and you were a pulsing, shaking mess), Ace placed a kiss on your lips, giving you a taste of your own slick. Hungrily, you accepted the favor — wrestling against his tongue to absorb every fiber of his being. Ace pulls away abruptly, moving upward to nestle his mouth into your ear.
"Get up and turn around," he ordered, pulling back to give you enough room to do so. You complied with ease, climbing onto all-fours waiting for his next command. Ace places a firm hand between your shoulder blades, slowly applying pressure to push your chest and face into the mattress. He grabs a handful of your ass, playing with the plump flesh that steadies before him, ready to take him in at a moment's notice. Ace frees his pulsing cock from the confines of his boxers, lining his dripping tip with your buzzing entrance. Gripping onto your hips to stabilize himself, Ace slowly inserts himself into you, memorizing the way you snugly fit around him. A loud groan escaped your lips as you feel Ace bottom out, his cock being way bigger than you had expected. You gripped the sheets underneath you as he began to slide in and out of you, the friction both painful and overwhelmingly good as you're still riding out your previous orgasm.
"God you feel so good," Ace moans, eyes mesmerized on the way you bounce off his cock. Your slow, rhythmic pace increases as you crave more and more of his length, pushing your ass into his hips as you rock your own. You can feel Ace's hips buck and tense as your core pulses along his sensitive shaft, a rewarding whimper fleeing from his lips. "Fuck [y/n], slow down."
Strings of saliva connect your mouth and the sheet beneath you as you lift your head, turning around to meet Ace's eyes. You huff a laugh as you sinisterly decide to use your effect on the man behind you to your advantage. "Pull my hair, Ace."
Throughout the entire night, it had been Ace's suave advances toward you that allowed you to fall at his feet. But right now, in the dim light of your desk lamp, you decided to take control — wanting him to crumble and beg from inside you. Ace's concentrated expression quickly faltered, a mix of shock and excitement flushing his cheeks. "You sure?"
You nodded breathlessly, maintaining eye contact becoming more difficult as his pace quickens. He crouches over and plants kisses down the nape of your neck, traveling further down your spine as his lips mingling with the beads of sweat that pool in your curves. Ace places one final kiss before grabbing a fistful of your hair, swiftly wrapping it multiple times around his large hands to ensure a tight grip. The stinging sensation from your scalp causes you to wince, a moan of pain overrides the previous melodies that poured from your throat. Ace immediately loosens his grip, checking in and making sure you were okay.
"We can stop if it hurts too much," he reassures. You cursed yourself for worrying him, and let him know that you were okay and wanted to keep going. Ace trusted your word, easing back into his rhythm. The sounds of flesh slapping together fill the room as his pace quickens once more — this time you can feel Ace's knees begin to buckle as he reaches his climax. Sweet moans and whimpers rise from your throat, you thighs shaking as you come dangerously close to finishing once more.
"Don't come yet," Ace ordered, the authority in his voice returning, thick and firm. "I wanna see how beautiful you look when you do it all over my cock."
Before you could argue with him to keep going, he pulls out and flips you onto your back. The hair that was once in his firm grasp was now pooled behind your head, wet and sticky from your sweat and his mingling in his palm. Ace makes himself comfortable in the space between your thighs, scooping his arms underneath you to lift your chest to his mouth. He places kisses along your breasts, teasing your sensitive nipples as he suckles gently on the skin. Slowly, he inserts himself back into your slick entrance, navigating through your warmth to find the center of your pleasure point.
Your face contorts into an expression you were entirely unaware of being able to create, eyes lolling to the back of your head as Ace slams into your g-spot just right. The words of encouragement that coaxed out from his mouth pushed you further and further to the edge, "That's it, baby. Just relax. You're doing great, mama."
"Fuck Ace, please go faster," you pant, begging him to ravage your body. Thankfully, he complied — quickening his pace, leaving loving bites on the soft skin of your shoulders. Ace's gaze returned to yours, watching intently as you reach your climax. He grips the handles on your waist as you shake and moan uncontrollably beneath him, letting you ride out your orgasm before releasing his own. You feel the thick ropes of Ace's cum fill you up, his pace slowing to watch the river of white pour out of your already-leaking hole. Ace releases you from his grasp, placing one final kiss on your cheek as he pulls out.
...
"Luffy's gonna hate me y'know," Ace teased, playing with strands of your hair as he spoons you from behind. The two of you had abandoned the soiled sheets and cuddled beneath one of your clean back-up blankets. Laundry day is gonna be a pain.
"He's gonna have to get through me first," you retorted, chuckling breathlessly as you catch your breath. Every problem, every stressor you had completely washed away at this moment. It was as if you had never felt peace and contentment until this very moment. You smiled to yourself, knowing that Nami would put this night into your never-ending pool of debt.

warning: sexual intentions
characters: jobe x fem!reader
summary: when you're going to spend a few days at your boyfriend's house but have more fun plans with him
may contain spelling and translation errors!
It was a warm summer night in Sunderland, and the city seemed to sigh with the heat. You were sitting on the couch in Jobe’s apartment, the lights in the living room low, creating a quiet and intimate atmosphere. You were wearing short cotton shorts and an old t-shirt that you had stolen from your boyfriend years ago, but that still held his scent.
Jobe had just gotten out of the shower, a towel hanging over his shoulders as he walked around the apartment, barefoot, with the black t-shirt tight, outlining the muscles of his torso. He was casual, but somehow he seemed even more irresistible like that. You watched him out of the corner of your eye, trying to hide the smile that insisted on appearing on your face.
He grabbed a bottle of water from the kitchen, but noticed your gaze and arched an eyebrow.
—Why are you looking at me?
He asked, with that crooked smile that left you speechless.
You shrugged, trying to appear indifferent.
—I’m just thinking about how handsome you are. Like, annoying handsome.
Jobe laughed, approaching with slow, provocative steps. He bent down, getting to your eye level, still holding the bottle.
—Handsome? Just handsome?
He teased, his voice husky enough to make your stomach knot.
You rolled your eyes, but the sparkle in them gave you away.
—Okay, very handsome. Like, young, tall, charming…
—Ah, now it’s starting to sound better. —Jobe joked, leaning his weight on the arm of the couch, holding you in place. —Go on.
You laughed, pushing him lightly on the chest, but not too hard.
—Okay, that’s enough. I don’t want to inflate your ego.
—Too late, babe.
He smiled, leaning in to leave a soft kiss on the corner of your mouth.
You closed your eyes for a moment, absorbing that moment. When you opened them, Jobe was still there, looking at you in a way that made everything around you disappear.
—What are you thinking now?
He asked, his tone softer this time.
You bit your lip, feeling your heart race.
—That maybe I should hold you hostage.
You joked, but the intent in your eyes was anything but innocent.
Jobe laughed, but there was something in his eyes that showed he was taking the idea seriously.
—Hold you hostage, huh? —He raised an eyebrow. —And what would you do to me, exactly?
You tilted your head, your hand slowly moving up his chest, feeling the heat through his thin shirt.
—I don’t know yet… But I think I would have some ideas, darling.
—Really? —He challenged, his voice deeper now, his eyes fixed on yours. He placed the bottle of water on the table next to you and used his free hand to gently hold your chin, keeping you in place. —I want to hear them all. And maybe even put them into practice.
You smiled but didn’t respond, leaning in to close the distance between you. Your lips met in a kiss that started slow but quickly deepened, the intensity growing like the summer heat outside. Jode’s hand slid to your waist, pulling you closer as you moved onto his lap, fitting perfectly. The heat surrounding you was almost unbearable now, but neither of you seemed to care. In that moment, the whole world could wait.
His hands slid around your waist with a familiarity that made your heart race. Sitting on his lap, your legs intertwined, you felt every movement, every heavy breath against your own body. Your kiss, which had started as a tease, was now something more intense, full of desire and a kind of need that only grew.
—Do you have any idea how impossible it is to say no to you, Y/n?
Jobe murmured against your lips, his voice husky and low, enough to make your skin crawl.
You smiled, your eyes shining as you ran your hands through his still damp hair.
—Oh, I know. And I love it.
He laughed, that deep sound that made the heat in the room seem to double in intensity. Jobe tilted his head to kiss your neck, leaving a trail of light kisses that made you sigh and squeeze his shoulders.
—You're so...
He started, but stopped, his hand going up to the back of your neck, his fingers intertwining in your hair.
—So what?
You teased, your voice a little breathless.
—Irresistible, babe. Irresistible.
He finally answered, before pulling you in for another kiss, a little more possessive this time.
You felt your body heat up even more with the word and the way he looked at you, as if you were the only person in the world. The heat between you was almost tangible, each touch and each kiss seemed to carry the weight of all the times you had held each other, of all the unsaid words, of all the love you shared.
You slid your hands down his arms, feeling the muscles beneath his skin. He was strong, but at the same time, there was a tenderness in the way he held you, as if you were both something precious and something he couldn't live without.
—Did you know I planned on behaving today?
You teased, smiling against his lips.
—Oh, I know. —Jobe replied, with that crooked smile that made your heart melt. —But clearly, I wasn’t in on the plan.
You both laughed, but the laughter soon turned into sighs as the youngest Bellingham slowly laid you down on the couch, keeping his weight on his elbows so as not to crush you. You felt the fabric of your shirt fold under his hands as he explored every inch of your body, as if it were the first time, as if each touch was a rediscovery.
You bit your lip, feeling your breath and his mix. The world around you seemed to disappear. Nothing but the heat, the touch and the sound of heavy breathing seemed to matter.
—You know… —He began, his voice deep and slow. —That I would do anything for you, don’t you?
You felt your heart clench in a good way, as if his words were the answer to something you didn’t even know you were looking for.
—I know. —You answered, pulling him closer. —And I would do the same for you, babe.
And on that warm Sunderland night, while the world continued outside, you created a universe of your own, where nothing else mattered but what you felt for each other.

Grave mistakes
Gotham City is full of a lot of characters, criminals, creepy clowns, man eating plants, eccentric billionaires. But all that rolled into one household?
Warning: contains mentions of kidnapping, threats, torture, general spooky stuff, it's an Addams reader they're gonna be freaky,
Part 4: gardening errors
🔹🔹🔹
You're not quite sure what circumstances lead to this, but here you are regardless.
It started as any normal morning for you in your new home, your routine caffeine fix and then you spent an hour in the play room wallowing in despair and shrieking in torment as the spirits watched on. Then you made yourself waffles.
As you were out tending to your garden and ripping up the colorful lilies hidden in one of the hedges something strange happened, a noise behind you, and then darkness.
You were disappointed to wake up, though finding yourself tied up and hanging upside down raised your mood a bit. Hyenas growl hungrily underneath your form as drool slowly drips from their chops, a strange green miasma is in the air around you. You slowly realize you're in some kind of greenhouse judging by the clear roof and the plants everywhere.
“I see you're awake.” A feminine voice purrs from somewhere behind you, you can't turn your head enough to see them but you don't have to, they slowly stroll into view and stand under you next to the hyenas. Her hair is long and blood red, her skin green and she seems to be wearing a green body suit covered in vines, this is an interesting turn of events!
“Hello there ma'am! Nice to meet you, Is this a torture thing?” It's a struggle to keep your voice even, not wanting to give away how excited you are when one of the hyenas jumps and tries to snap at you. A good torture session should have some build up after all.
The woman chuckles, taking the tremble in your voice as horror as she smirks. “right to the point are we? No my sweet, it's not torture….. Yet. Not if I get My way here.” with a slight flick of her wrist some of the plants around her shift and twist, vines crawling up from the ground to gently wrap around your throat, A threat. You can't suppress the shiver going down or up? your spine. The woman chuckles again.
“Not yet? What's the wait my friend, are we expecting more company first?” It's a bit hard to keep your eyes on her when she starts stalking around the room, you frown when the vines release you and sink back down into the ground.
“Oh I almost forgot myself, please forgive my lack of manners miss, my name is-” “I know who you are, I know everything I need to know about you. How you come here and start throwing money around, paying that filthy company to keep producing their chemicals regardless of how many plants choke and die on their disgusting fumes. How you bought that land no doubt to drain the swamp on it, how you-are you giggling?”
She cuts off her monologue to stomp towards you, standing just under your head as she scowls up at you, rage burning in her pretty green eyes.
“Are you serious right now?” She hisses, hands clenching into fists while the plants around you twist and curl towards you, some starting to wrap around you once again.
“Oh no, please continue! I love a good monologue my dear friend. It's just that hanging like this has a fun little dizzying effect, blood drowning the brain and all.” You say with a smile as you look down at her, the vines starting to cut off your air supply.
She frowns at you and crosses her arms, blood colored lip curling into a sneer. “Why you-” “red! Finish the demands before ya start popping heads! You're putting us at stake here!” An exasperated voice yells, another woman joining the first.
This one's in red and black, short split dyed hair and skin so pale as if it's been bleached, she could almost rival Morticia’s sickly tone.
The woman apparently named Red rolls her eyes a bit, but wraps an arm around the others waist, they both look up at you as the vines again release you and drop into the dirt.
“Right…. Here's the deal Richie, we want money. Lots of it in fact, your people are gonna get it to us if they want you alive and well. You understand?” They both look up at you expectantly, the hyenas circle around Underneath you.
“I understand perfectly, how much do you want to torture me?”
They give each other confused like while you smile down at them, sweat starting to gather on your forehead from hanging upside down by your feet for so long.
After a few seconds the red head speaks again, tone aggravated. “What?”
“How much money do you want? I'd like this to continue and I understand your time is very valuable.”
“…. Did you not hear me?” The red head huffs, the other woman leans over to whisper loudly in the others ear. “Maybe I hit em in the head too hard?”
“i heard you just fine! you need money yes? i can pay you myself after the torture, or do you intend to kill me? you can get ahold of my dear relative morticia should i pass. wait have you seen my phone? i want to tell her or gomez the good news!” the split dyed hair one stares up at you with a look of concern, she pulls a familiar phone out of her pocket and looks down at it before glancing back up at you. “….i don’t think this is goin to plan, red.”
the redhead snatches the phone from the other, rolling her eyes while turning it on. “you’re not psyching us out, masochist. what’s the passcode for this? if you don’t tell me i’ll watch as my little babies grow from your eyesockets.”
“it’s 666.” “oh, of fucking course-alright i’m calling your emergency contact, i’m getting our damn money.” she huffs, pacing in circles as she dials and holds the phone up to her ear.
“come on…come on…finally, ahem, are you mx addamses emergency contact?…..this is their kidnapper. i’m calling to tell you that they’re going to be brutally tortured within the hour if you don’t gather a small sum of one million dollars and send proof of bank statements to this phone or else-huh?……”
after a moment she lowers the phone and stares at the other woman.
“….a little girl just told me ‘good for them’ and hung up on me.”
“a little girl is your emergency contact?” the split dyed hair one looks up at you questioningly as she starts to pet one of the hyenas.
you nod your head with a smile on your face. “Wednesday is actually my second emergency contact, grandmama is the first but she doesn’t have a phone.” the redhead tilts her head in confusion, dropping your phone carelessly on the moss covered ground. “then how do you contact them?” she mutters skeptically, crossing her arms over her chest. “depends where she is, usually via smoke signal or seance depending on her living status.”
“….so your emergency people is your living or dead grandmother and a little girl that doesn’t care if you’re being tortured?”
“there’s also cousin it, but essentially yes.”
the redhead sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose, muttering something unintelligible under her breath as she turns away from you and goes to sit on a vine covered bench.
the split dye one looks back and forth between you and the other woman, after a moment she shoos the hyenas away. “…..so, how’s about we talk about torture thing, eh? you seem ta be into that sorta thing, i won’t yuck ya yum if you’re actually gonna pay coinage for it.”
the redhead whips around to glare at the other one. “we are not doing bdsm for money! we’re not that desperate harl.” the plants around her slowly curl towards her, leaves and flowers brushing against her as if in comfort.
“well we might as well get sumthin outta this! we need the doe and pronto.”
you watch them bicker back and forth for a few moments in polite silence, your head aching more and more as the blood rushes to your head. after a bit you speak up loud enough for them to hear you over their arguement.
“excuse me my friends, can i ask what prompted this kidnapping and attempted ransom? it sounds like you’re both out of sorts here.”
the one apparently named harl quickly speaks up. “we got booted out of our apartment.” the other woman stands up angrily. “harley!”
harley glances over her shoulder, her lips pressing together in a pout. “what?”
the redhead pinches the bridge of her nose, clearly agitated as she approaches the harley lady. “you can’t tell them anything you idiot! they’re our victim not our therapist.”
“well they asked!”
you speak up again, one of the wriggling vines bumping into you and causing you to spin in a circle like some kind of torturous carnival ride. “kidnapping victim or not, i can have sympathy for someone going through a bad time. how’d you get removed from your home?” your voice sounds odd as you Spin back and forth, you're starting to get really dizzy.
Harley whips towards you, hair smacking her in the face as she righteously gestures. “they were homophobic!”
The redhead rolls her eyes and walks over to push on Harley’s face as she corrects her. “that’s not what happened, apparently the landlord found someone’s record.” she gives Harley a pointed look.
Harley pushes the hand off her face and points at your still spinning form as if to convince you of her side of things. Giving you an overly emotional look as she fends off the redheads attempts to shut her up. “well it sure seemed like he was homophobic when we's both broke into his place, you shoulda heard im when he realized who was under the ski masks!”
Your brows furrow as sweat drips off your forehead, your vision getting blurry as you finally stop spinning and you try to look at the two women below you.
“that’s very sad, a little devious activity shouldn’t lead to you losing your place, i can relate to that quite intimately actually.”
“really?” you hear both ask with differing tones, one sounding unenthusiastic in comparison to the other. You nod as best you can. “yes, that’s the whole reason i moved to this beautiful city!….we’re still in the city right?”
“maybe…..”Harley looks away from you and whistles innocently as she casually reaches over to pet a carnivorous plant.
That's good enough for you, you wriggle a hand free to pull a handkerchief out of your pocket so you can wipe your forehead clean, when you're done you tuck your hand back under your binds. “are you still looking for a place to stay?”
the redhead tilts her head in confusion while Harley replies. “why’d you think we want your money?” she looks away from the plant and walks under you, swatting at your jacket when it smacks her in the face.
“harley can you not?” the other woman is clearly exasperated as she all but hisses her words out, stomping over to try to drag Harley away from you. “May I remind you that we're threatening to kill them?”
You're unperturbed as you press on, watching them whisper loudly to each other right under your upside down figure. “do you want a place?”
Harley immediately perks up, a big grin on her face as she whips around to loom up at you. “are you offering?-” the redhead groans loudly and grabs the other woman by the upper arm and pulls her away while trying to cover her mouth. “absolutely not! we’re not going near the bdsm weirdos house after we kidnapped them, it’s never happening harl. i’m putting my foot down.”
“…”
Harley starts to tear up in silence, staring at the other woman with big glassy eyes as she works up some tears.
🔹🔹🔹
“i hate the manipulative tears.” the redhead, whom you’ve learned is named pamela, growls at harley as she roughly drops down on your couch with crossed arms.
“free room and board, red. keyword free, my lovely little murderous plant.” harley flops over beside her, wincing when a spring digs into her back, she still makes herself comfortable on pamela’s lap though.

Saw that someone said Luigi’s Reddit had a post where he eluded to a pretty heavy drinking habit in college, which then makes me think about drunk ex!luigi. I’m sorry, but you write angst too well

Unlearn Me — { Luigi x Reader}
Content: SFW, angst, yearning, slight pining, mentions of canon back pain, ex’s reminiscing, heartbreak all over again.
Wc: 4,336 (holy shit)
Notes; Two semesters of carefully crafted distance crumbles at 3AM in the computer lab when your final project implodes hours before the deadline, leaving you with no choice but to seek help from the one person you've been avoiding since the breakup.
Tumblr media
Before we continue, I cannot ignore that wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles, countless families have lost their homes and livelihoods. I urge you to consider supporting those affected through any of these donation links, additionally, Roadogs on Instagram is looking for fosters for mass evacuations of shelter dogs in California.
Foster or donate if you can. xo.
Now, let’s go.
"Mother fucker," you curse, attacking your keyboard with increasingly desperate keystrokes.
Each combination might be the one to salvage this disaster, but deep down you know it's hopeless — your software has corrupted itself into oblivion, taking six months of work with it.
"You can ask for an extension," Emma suggests, her voice carrying the weight of exhaustion that matches your own. Your roommate had burst into the media center still wearing her pink silk pajamas, immediately launching into a nervous tirade about after-hours permissions and potential expulsion risks.
Her constant hovering and worrying grates on your last nerve, and you tell her to leave.
Predictably, she refuses.
"Listen, I'm not just gonna leave you here on your own." She leans across your workspace, her body pressing against your laptop screen until it tilts halfway closed. You freeze, fingers suspended above the keys, terrified of losing what little progress you've made in this digital archaeology expedition. "There's - like - a murderer on campus."
"One girl said she was followed home," you gently remind. Under normal circumstances, Emma's mother-hen routine would be endearing — charming, even. But right now, with your project in shambles and deadline looming, her protective hovering feels suffocating. "Not murdered, Em."
"May as well have been." Emma fixes you with that look — the one that screams why am I the only rational person here? While her nails tap nervously against your desk. "Probably hasn't left her room since. And you know what? Smart girl.”
You scrub your hands over your face, your eyes fixed on the projector's word vomit — an endless stream of error messages and unintelligible code painting the drywall from a tired projector like some twisted modern art piece.
Not exactly what you were going for.
Emma stands mesmerized, "How did you even do this?" She watches the cryptic display crawl across the wall, her eyes tracking each line as if she could decode it. "This reminds me of-" she catches herself, the name hanging unspoken between you. She's learned that lesson the hard way. "This is wild.”
You can't help but notice.
Notice how she almost speaks his name, how these meaningless strings of letters and numbers somehow bridge the gap to memories you've tried so hard to bury — promises whispered under star-sprinkled skies, fingers intertwined beneath the cosmic glow.
Moments that felt eternal then, ephemeral now.
Your gaze drifts to your phone, lying face-down like a surrender.
You blink several times, trying to clear the ghosts from your vision before speaking, your voice emerging barely above a whisper, as if the words themselves might shatter something in the air, "Should I text him?" You ask, offering the idea as if it was something too controversial to be spoken aloud.
Emma shifts her weight, both from exhaustion and the sudden weight of responsibility.
Your night's trajectory now rests in her hands — she who has witnessed every shade of you, from triumph to devastation. Her own memories of him surface: the way he'd raid her ice cream stash only to replace it with a premium pint the next day, how he'd tackle the dish mountain without prompting, those small gestures that made him feel like family.
"He was my favorite boyfriend of yours," she'd told you once, in a moment of wine-honest conversation. "He was a good boy."
A good boy who made a couple mistakes.
But those mistakes had compounded like interest on a debt you never agreed to pay, until the rift between you and Luigi widened into an ocean.
Everything good had been pulled out with the tide — your trust, your shared future — swept away to depths where no light could reach.
"I-" Emma's hand finds the back of her neck, her expression cycling through a slideshow of conflicted emotions. You can see her internal struggle; the desire to crawl into her bed warring with her loyalty to you. And she knows you well enough to realize you'd stay here until sunrise if necessary. "I mean — babe, I love you, but you can't fix this." The admission seems to pain her, as if acknowledging your limitations feels like betrayal. "We aren't techies."
You stare helplessly at your gutted gallery, stripped bare by your own accidental digital vandalism. Your artwork, your portfolio, your future — all reduced to incomprehensible strings of code projected onto an indifferent wall.
"Do you think he'd come?" The question escapes before you can stop it, your eyes magnetized to your phone as if your stare alone could resurrect that old text thread, buried beneath months of careful silence.
"Of course he would."
A soft, defeated whine escapes you as you turn back to glare at your corrupted work, as if you could intimidate it into fixing itself through sheer force of will.
Emma's voice softens, "Hey, he's mature enough to understand you've exhausted your options."
A violent shudder runs through you at the thought of Luigi being your last resort.
You'd managed to exile the visceral memories — the heated arguments that left you gasping for air, the promises that turned to vapor in the morning light.
"Which are?"
Emma looks down at her Pokemon-clad self, then back at you. "Me." She gestures vaguely in your direction, "and you."
The campus sleeps around you, everyone else lost to their dreams or late-night calls home. Just the two of you remain, trapped in this dimly-lit purgatory on a Wednesday night, while error messages mock your existence with their endless scroll.
"Slim pickin's," you mutter as your fingers betray you, finding Luigi's contact with muscle memory that refuses to die.
How many times had you pressed these same digits before?
But this is different.
Different because you haven't spoken since that night in your kitchen, when you stood with your back to him, voice steady despite the trembling in your hands, "So, we aren't going to try to figure this out?" You asked, and he’d responded with some pretentious comparison about your relationship being like corrupted code, fundamentally flawed, destined to fail its own quality test.
The irony isn't lost on you — the very metaphor he used to end things is now the thread that might pull you back into his orbit. Your only connection besides the elaborate dance of avoidance across campus, treating each other's paths like holy ground neither dares to tread.
Opening the thread, you're greeted by your last exchange — your final words to him blazing across the screen in angry blue bubbles: "I want my fucking shit back or I'll make your life a living hell." Such poetry. Your new message hovers in the text box, simpler, desperate in its brevity.
Hey need help with somethin. U up??
You thrust your phone at Emma like it's burning your fingers, watching her eyes widen as they catch on those months-old texts — digital artifacts of your rage that should have been scrubbed before tonight's desperate plea. "Jesus," she whispers, amusement dancing in her expression. "I'd still be licking my wounds if I were hi-"
The familiar buzz cuts through the air, a notification chime that once made your heart leap but now makes it sink.
"What'd he say?" You mumble, gaze fixed on the mocking projection that bathes the room in its sickly digital glow, code continuing its relentless march across the wall.
Emma settles into a chair, hunching over your laptop's makeshift altar. "Said he's at Ruddy's." She squints at a fresh message. "He said 'what do you want?'" She deepens her voice into a cartoonish baritone, making him sound like a caveman discovering text messaging for the first time.
You can't blame him for the cold response — you’d scorched that earth thoroughly.
But a selfish part of you wants to delete the whole exchange, pretend this moment of weakness never happened, go back to the careful choreography of avoiding each other's existence.
But you can't.
The corrupted gallery looming on the wall is a stark reminder that pride is a luxury you can't afford right now.
His icy reception is the natural consequence of your scorched-earth campaign, those venom-laced messages sent in the throes of heartbreak and confusion.
You'd played the role of the woman scorned perfectly, even though you'd written your own tragic script.
"Just send him a picture." You wave listlessly at the wall, where your work continues its digital decomposition, folding in on itself like a dying star. The error messages stretch into an endless serpent of nonsense, each iteration making less sense than the last.
The artificial shutter sound of Emma's photo breaks the silence, followed by the soft swoosh of sending. The wait feels eternal until-
Ding
Emma's attention snaps to your phone resting on her thigh, her eyes widening. "He's typing like he-"
Sorry;m,, I’m fucked uo
Up
I am
fucked up
Emma clicks her tongue and rises, crossing the room to lob your phone into your lap, screen up. "Guess some things don't change." You manage a weak half-grin, memories flooding back unbidden — Luigi stumbling into your dorm in the small hours, wrapped in whiskeys warmth, all soft edges and desperate hands.
"Well, make up your mind." Emma's yawn threatens to unhinge her jaw, arms wrapping around herself like armor. "Are we done here, or are you gonna have him come take a look?"
I’n be there son
I’ll be rherw soo
I’ll be there soon
You stand to wrap your arms around Emma’s shoulders who reluctantly curves her arms upward to squeeze your shoulders. “Go home.” She seems reluctant to listen, staring at your phone screen as if it would take her home itself. “I promise, I’ll be just fine.”
The space between you pulses with that unique warmth reserved for someone who shares your roof, your darkest secrets, and the monthly struggle with Con Edison. "Just don't make any brash decisions."
"Oh, Em." You press a kiss to her forehead. "You think I'm so much cooler than I am."
Emma's laugh follows her as she spins toward the door, collecting pieces of herself like breadcrumbs — the scarf draped over a chair, the coat hung forgotten, the backpack abandoned when the day still held promise.
Each item a marker of how long this digital nightmare has stretched, from sunshine to moonlight.
And as if summoned by cosmic irony, the lab door swings open to reveal Luigi. "Oh - hey, E." The surprise flickers across his face before he schools his features back to neutral.
"Hey, Lu." Her greeting carries the easy familiarity of their old routine, like NPCs in a cozy game exchanging preset dialogue, their paths crossing exactly as programmed.
"You g'na help me with this?"
Emma shakes her head, patting his shoulder as she passes — a gentle handoff. "I did my time." You want to protest, but words fail as you absorb the sight of him, eight months of careful avoidance crumbling in an instant.
"Ahh-" Luigi waves, feigning disappointment through the druken haze. "Need a walk back home?"
Ever the shepherd, guardian of late-night wanderers.
It didn't matter who you were — friend, stranger, ex-lover’s best friend and roommate — his self-appointed mission to ensure everyone's safe return never wavered.
You'd once wondered if it stemmed from some deeper anxiety, his mind unable to rest until every sheep was accounted for in its fold.
Tonight though, the alcohol has mercifully dulled that protective instinct. Emma's potential disappearance into the night ranks lower on his list of concerns than usual, although Emma herself had been the one earlier to warn you of the murderer on campus.
"You still got my location," Emma reminds him — a callback to conversations past, to the day she'd granted Luigi permanent access to her whereabouts, a level of trust you'd wisely withheld.
"Right."
She presses a kiss to her fingers, flashing you a peace sign with the same hand before it briefly lands on Luigi's shoulder. Then she's gone, disappearing into the snow-globe world he'd just stumbled in from. He stands before you now, arms hanging like dead weight, his eyes somehow both wide and narrow.
"Hey," you whisper.
"Hey."
You gesture weakly at the wall where your work writhes in digital agony. "So, uh — remember that time you salvaged Professor Wren’s entire thesis when her drive crashed?"
Luigi's eyes follow your hand, professional interest temporarily overriding the awkwardness. He steps closer, squinting at the corrupted display, "Jesus," he mutters, "what did you do to it?"
"Would you believe me if I said nothing?" The laugh that escapes is more nervous than you'd like. "It just. - it started disintegrating during final checks."
He's already pulling out his laptop, muscle memory from countless late-night tech rescues. The familiarity of it hits you in the chest — how many times had you watched him do this same thing, hunched over his keyboard, bottom lip caught between his teeth in concentration?
"I can try," he says finally, not quite meeting your eyes. "But no promises. When's this due?"
"Tomorrow at nine."
"Of course it is." He drops into the chair beside you, close enough that your elbows almost touch, but enough of a distance to still feel far away. “Okay, walk me through what it's supposed to look like when it's not — uh - whatever this is."
For a moment, Luigi stares at the corrupted display where red pixels bleed and stutter across the wall. His fingers hover over his keyboard, then pause. "Wait. This is your circulatory modeling project? The one you were-“ He cuts himself off, remembering this was before the eight months of silence.
"Yeah." You swallow. "It was working perfectly until an hour ago. Real-time hemodynamics, pressure differentials, vessel elasticity. Everything." Your voice cracks slightly on the last word, feeling more helpless when you verbalize it.
He nods, already typing with uncanny precision despite the slight sway in his posture. "Show me the base code. Did you save any backups?"
"Three. All corrupted." You lean forward, careful not to crowd him as you pull up the mangled files. "It's like something got into the core simulation and just - I dunno - started rewriting them."
"Hm." His eyes scan the screen with that laser focus he somehow maintains no matter how much he drinks, that familiar furrow appearing between his brows. "These values are cascading. One corrupted variable triggering a chain reaction through the whole system." He glances at you, slightly overshooting before correcting. "When's the last time it ran correctly?"
You check your phone. "6:43 PM. I have a screen recording from then."
"Good. That's good." He pulls up a second window, his typing still flawless even as he reaches with his free hand to steady himself against the desk. "We can compare the execution logs, maybe isolate where it started going wrong." His fingers fly across the keys with a precision that seems to mock his clearly inebriated state, and for a moment, it feels like those eight months never happened. "I'm going to need coffee for this." He looks up at you from where he sat, “Or more booze.”
You land on coffee, your feet carrying you down the familiar path to the kitchenette.
The fluorescent lights flicker dimly at this hour, casting strange shadows across the linoleum, the lab's overpriced espresso machine hums to life under your touch, its gentle whirring a counterpoint to the distant sound of Luigi's typing.
Suddenly you're back in that first year, both of you hunched over at 3 AM, him teaching you the proper way to pull a shot: “You're murdering it, stop torturing the beans”, your quiet laughter echoing through empty halls.
"Got it.” His voice carries down the corridor, slurred but triumphant, snapping you back to present.
You return to find him illuminated by screen-glow, his tie loosened and dark hair disheveled. The paper cup lands in front of him — double shot, one packet of raw sugar.
He doesn't stir it, never has.
Instead, he tips the cup back, and you hear that familiar crunch of sugar crystals between his teeth, a sound that used to drive you crazy, until somewhere along the way it became endearing.
Still, the jumbled code taunts you from the screen, though its chaos seems less threatening now. Under Luigi's touch — steady despite the alcohol — your final project is slowly remembering its original shape.
"You should have texted sooner," Luigi murmurs, tilting his head back to collect the last sugar crystals from his cup. The movement exposes his throat, his collar wrinkled where he's been tugging at it all night.
"Well," you say, watching the way his fingers dance across the keys, each stroke precise despite his obvious intoxication, "takes a minute to swallow something as big as my pride."
The corners of his mouth twitch upward, eyes never leaving the screen where broken code is knitting itself back together under his attention.
"Oh," he huffs out a laugh, the sound low and dangerous in the quiet lab, "I've seen you swallow far bigger things before."
It strikes like summer lightning — quick, bright, and leaving the air charged in its wake. The innuendo lands with no real bite, yet you find your jaw slack, a startled laugh shaking loose from your chest.
"Kidding," Luigi says, his eyes flicking from screen to you and back again. There’s a ghost of a smirk playing at the corner of his mouth, softened by the alcohol but still sharp enough to cut. You wave him back to his work, grateful for the blue glow of monitors that hides your flush. "You kinda set that up perfectly, though."
He squints up at the projection where your broken code still bleeds across the wall, letting out a soft grunt of frustration at some digital roadblock. "Just mean — ya know, you could have caught me two beers deep instead of seven."
You shrug a shoulder, watching as the projection slowly crystallizes into something recognizable. "Seems you work better under such conditions."
The lie tastes metallic.
You both know the truth.
Luigi would have come if he was sober as sunrise or drowning in bourbon. Would have come with broken ribs or pneumonia or his heart barely beating. Would have traced these familiar hallways blind, deaf, or dying — because that's what the two of you do.
Have always done.
You've seen him at rock bottom, curled into himself on cold bathroom tiles at midnight, trembling hands pressed against his mouth as if he could physically hold back the pain that wracked his body. Watched him try to explain to puzzled doctors how someone so young could hurt so constantly, the frustration in his voice when they suggested it was all in his head.
You were there through the trials of medications, the nights when existence itself seemed too heavy to bear.
And you've seen him soar; standing tall in that charcoal suit that made him look older, more polished, shaking hands with tech giants who saw in him what you'd always known was there, his future spreading out before him like a golden road, brilliant and boundless.
Now he sits here, seven drinks deep but coding like he's never been clearer, and you realize that maybe both versions are equally true.
Maybe that's what makes him Luigi — the ability to contain multitudes, to be simultaneously broken and brilliant, wounded and wonderful.
He catches you watching him and raises an eyebrow, the gesture slightly delayed, which means you must have been a bit too obvious. "What?"
"Nothing.”
His fingers pause on the keys, and even through the alcoholic haze, his gaze pins you like a butterfly to cork. "No, really. What?" The words have a slight blur around their edges, but his focus is knife-sharp.
You could deflect again, but there's something about 4 AM and code that glows like dying stars that makes honesty feel less dangerous, perhaps you’re finding comfort in the fact that Luigi is drunk, although you’re stone cold sober.
"Just thinking about that time in the Thompson building bathroom." Your voice comes out softer than intended. "When you couldn't stand up, and I had to convince the janitor you had food poisoning."
He doesn't flinch from the memory like he used to.
Instead, his mouth curves into something caught between a smile and a grimace. "You told him it was from the cafeteria." His fingers resume their dance across the keyboard, but slower now. "Got the whole place investigated by health services."
"Yeah, but got us three days off while they checked fucking everything.” you remind him.
"Got me through that week," he corrects quietly, and for a moment, the mask of that brilliant-drunk-techie slips, showing the man underneath who still remembers what it feels like to be held together by nothing but someone else's faith in you.
Then he blinks, and the vulnerability is gone, replaced by that familiar crooked grin. "Though I maintain the cafeteria deserved the inspection anyway."
The projection flickers, another section of code healing itself under his touch, and you wonder if he knows you'd do it all again.
Every bathroom floor, every late-night crisis, every moment of putting him back together - you'd choose it every time.
"Speaking of which," you venture carefully, watching his hands move across the keyboard. "How's the new treatment working?"
His right shoulder shifts in what might be a shrug, but there's a shadow of a real smile playing at his mouth.
Not the sharp, defensive one he wears like armor, but something softer, more genuine. "Six months post-op and I actually slept through the night last week. First time in -“ he pauses, considering, "Fuck, I don't even remember how long."
The admission hangs in the air between you, weighted with the two years of 2 AM phone calls, of nights spent pacing, of pain medications that never quite touched the core of the problem.
Watching him try to code through hands that wouldn't stop shaking.
"Still hurts sometimes," he adds, almost absently. "But it's different now. More like background noise than a scream." His fingers still on the keyboard, and for a moment he looks almost surprised by his own words. "Guess that's what normal people feel like all the time, huh?"
The question carries an edge of wonder, like someone who's lived in darkness suddenly discovering dawn.
You watch him roll his shoulder — a gesture that used to be followed by a wince but now flows smooth and unconscious — and think about how strange it must be, learning to live without constant pain after it's become part of your identity.
"Though I kind of miss having an excuse to drunk-code at 4 AM" he adds, but you both know it's a lie.
The code blurs on the projection as silence settles between you, charged with something that's been building for ages — through bathroom floors and hospital visits, through triumphs and failures, through pain and healing.
The alcohol has stripped away Luigi’s careful boundaries, leaving raw honesty in their place.
"You know," Luigi says slowly, finally turning from the screen to face you fully, "I never thanked you properly. For all of it."
"You don't need to-"
Your diagram pulses back to life, the holographic heart rotating lazily against the wall.
Its red glow bathes the room in a surreal warmth, catching on the sharp angles of Luigi's face, softening them into something almost dreamlike.
The light flickers across his cheekbones, turns his eyes to amber, makes the whole moment feel suspended between reality and imagination.
"I do." His voice is quiet but firm, steadier than someone seven drinks deep should manage. "Because I've been thinking — now that I can actually think clearly without-“he gestures vaguely at his back, at all the years of pain, "I've been thinking about how you're the only constant. The only person who never-“ He trails off.
You lean a little closer, drawn by the vulnerability in his voice. "Never what?"
"Never saw me as broken." He turns himself toward you, and there's something desperate in his eyes, something the alcohol has finally given him the courage to show. "Never treated me like I needed fixing. Just stayed. Through everything."
Your lips part, but the words catch in your throat. He takes your silence as a sign, turning back to the screen with a sharp exhale that might be resignation or relief — you're not sure which would be worse.
"Lu,” you say softly, and something in your voice makes his fingers still on the keyboard. "Look at me."
He does, slowly, like he's afraid of what he might find.
The neon bathes half his face in crimson, leaving the other half in shadow, and you see the moment his carefully constructed walls start to crumble.
"Time hasn’t changed that much about me.” you say, each word deliberate, heavy with meaning.
His breath catches audibly. You watch the impact of your words ripple across his face — surprise, understanding, and something else, something that makes your heart race against your ribs.
"Hasn’t it?” Luigi is focusing on you now, the reason he really came here now practically completed but pushed aside until further notice. “Eight months is a long time to hold onto -“ he gestures vaguely between you, as if he can’t quite say what it was. Hopeless devotion, the right person, wrong time.
“Not long enough to forget.”
“Forget what?”
“You.”
His breath catches again, a sharp inhale that seems to pull all the oxygen from the room. When he speaks, his voice is rough and ragged, “Maybe that’s the problem.” His gaze drifts down to watch as you lick your lips, and back up again. “Maybe you should have.”
