Okay, as a girl who has followed HTTYD and been a super fan since the beginning, who has now seen the remake:

Astrid was great.

The only people hating are men who used Astrid as a sex symbol instead of a symbol of women empowerment. Because they took away what gave her sex appeal to them (white, blond hair, blue eyes) they hate her character because they can't stand a strong woman.

And if that doesn't apply to you and you truly didn't like her protrayal, then I respect it.

Other than that:

- amazing inclusion of references to Valka

- Snotlout ate with comedy

- this Hiccup is less sassy and more smol bean, but still love it

- loved how the dragon training is a ritual

- loved then bringing up how they see Hiccup as a nepo baby

- Fishlegs hghleted as an acceptable nerd

- the inclusivity was well done and highlighted as part of the plot

- only dislike was taking out the terrible terror scene because now it's canon that Tootless can fire holes in other dragons with his fire and Hiccup took a wild guess his plan would work

LOVED THE MOVIE! very v faithful adaptation and a must see!

If anyone read the books, they knows he’s supposed to be the most pathetic, kicked dog, soaking wet cat guy ever. Then they made him in the movies, and sure in the first movie he’s kinda pathetic, BUT IN THE FOLLOWING MOVIES HES LESS PATHETIC AND KINDA HOT??? LIKE STOP BRING BACK MY SAD LITTLE MAN.

And then in the live action(either going to suck or be ok) HE DOESNT LOOK PATHETIC AT ALL. HE LOOKS LIKE RTTE HICCUP WHO ISNT PATHETIC IN THE SLIGHTEST.

What about Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, specifically of the How To Train Your Dragon book series (which the movies were based on)? He's 10 and a half in the first book, but by the last one, he's 14, I think, which makes him eligible.

I know we were all disappointed in the design of the light fury and wanted something much more fiersome and dangerous as a mate for Toothless rather than the soft-edged version of a night fury we got

But I do HAVE to appreciate the way she was treated

She is quite possibly the most dangerous and mysterious dragon that's been encountered in the franchise

Little to absolutely nothing is known about her, she's incredibly wild, and they don't even give her a name

Even in rtte and riders&defenders Hiccup and the gang will name wild dragons allll the time (shout out Smidvarg)

Meanwhile she is never named at all

The mysteriousness and caution surrounding her tho is typically reserved for masculine characters in most media, with the dark, brooding, murderous love interest getting all the love and attention

Whereas she totally fits that bill here with Toothless being the UWU little baby we know he is

What we lost in visuals we definitely gained in character development

I genuinely believe that Viggo is the best villain in the HTTYD universe/series. He was smart and savvy and a good character that was entertaining to watch and see the characters develop to stop him and grow impressively. He was one of the biggest challenges that the group had to face, and posed to be the biggest challenge for them, because of how long it took to take him down.

I’m not saying he was the most dangerous, but he has got to be the best, or at least my favorite villain, in the httyd universe.

My favourite moment in the whole httyd franchise is when Hiccup is building Toothless's tail. I love when we see him work his projects. I imagine him working late often at the firelight.
