Most-Listened of March 2024
[last month]
This was such an exciting month of releases--Purplekiss, Day6, BLEACHERS?? Chung Ha gave us a couple of songs, Nina Suárez came back out of nowhere, Lucy dropped a single, OLIVIA RODRIGO IS BACK?? I've been super excited for the J-Hope album, too, but I haven't been emotionally ready to check it out, yet, since I want to have the energy to really love it! Not to mention the Seori EP-- PLUS Bol4 and StayC both dropped some covers of huge 2019 k-pop hits.
And that isn't all. The highlights of my month were seeing Bruce Springsteen (only my favorite artist ever.) and Gregory Alan Isakov in concert(s)! So honestly, I'm a little overwhelmed by just how exciting music is right now. (It doesn't help that this month gave me my first album of the year candidate, too!!) This post will be my opportunity to go a little wild, then :)
1. Leopardos -- Ine Güemes
I should not enjoy this listening experience as much as I do. That whistling noise should annoy me by now, after all these listens, right? ... Right? Nope. I love it. This song is so soothing, it's literally the musical equivalent of a deep breath.
2. Appaloosa Bones -- Gregory Alan Isakov
Concert prep + THE sulking song this month. Look, I'm a guy who needs my daily floor time (floor time. perhaps you require it.), and it always involves considerable sulking. (At this rate, you're gonna see a sulking song on this list every single month. It's a tradition now!) I've been losing it about "Was I that gone? / Man, I hope not / Glad you found me when you did" and "The pages slow / in the room I called your name" and "They haven't made no pill / To get us across the winter time" ...
3. All Things End -- Hozier
You know what ended? My eight-week class. *sigh of relief* All things end, truly! Now I just need the reminder that this semester will end, too...
4. Death To My Hometown -- Bruce Springsteen
I'd never heard this one before, but I ASCENDED when I heard it live (the horns section was. fantastic.) and I left it on repeat all month post-concert.
5. The Ledge -- Fleetwood Mac
This song makes me proud of my music taste, honestly--see, I can like weird experimental stuff, too! It sounds wonderfully, comfortingly crowded--like the ambient noise from a nearby café, or like falling asleep with the TV on. I don't know, it's just a feeling I find myself really enjoying. I'm also SO deeply in love with the round-style singing (see: "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" rounds in middle school choir) Fleetwood Mac sometimes does (see: my obsession with "Paper Doll"), and they do it in this song !!
6. I Don't Want to Know -- Fleetwood Mac
I like this one for the same reason I like "Second Hand News"--that cheerful self-deprecation just never fails to draw me in. ("Second Hand News" is still better, though!)
7. Smart -- Le Sserafim
Does anyone NOT like this song? I missed the Eve Psyche hype train last year, so this one's hitting me doubly hard. I think the sweeter tone of "Smart" suits Le Sserafim's vocals much better, and the production is just plain adorable! This has been my go-to song during classes, when I need something to cheer me up without making me too overwhelmed.
8. Luz -- Ine Güemes
That vocal processing is SUCH a standout--so soft and hazy and fluffy, just a fascinating texture when you really focus on it, but endlessly pleasant when you leave it on loop and zone out, too. (Look, I REALLY loved this album this month.)
9. Nota de Voz -- Los Hermanos Laser
Classic indie boy music! I like "Azul Plateado" from this album, too, and I have a feeling the whole album will hit for me during the summer--I tend to like that exhausted-sounding alt-rock stuff a whole lot around July & August :)
10. Light Sprite -- Baby Pantera, Isabella Lovestory
Thanks for the rec, @pocima !!
11. I Am Right On Time -- Bleachers
This is a weirdly muted album for Bleachers (especially on the heels of "Stop Making This Hurt" and "How Dare You Want More" from their last album), and this is the most weirdly muted of them all--I really feel like it should be... more, somehow? But it's still quite a cathartic listening experience, and I keep coming back to it!
12. Really Like You -- Gyubin
I've started giving myself 30 minutes of reading time in the mornings, to help me wake up and not be completely miserable about it, so I've been reading a whole bunch of webtoons. (Hell, maybe I'll read a book one day!) This one's the perfect cutesy webtoon soundtrack, and I think it might be here because I left it on repeat while reading Blooming Season?? (I just finished catching up with Jackson's Diary, and I think I'm gonna start Death of a Pop Star next!) Anyway, Gyubin sounds lovely here, can't wait for a comeback!
13. Self Respect -- Bleachers
The production on this song is just SO exciting overall!! But I'm mostly here for the saxophone. God, it's not even that much of the song but it's gorgeous !!!
14. Nieve Sin Fin -- Ine Güemes
Nice aesthetic piano :)
15. Rush -- Twice
I love how dizzying this song is--it's chaotic and overwhelming in the most wonderful way! I was a little disappointed by it when I first listened to the album, I think because their vocals here are much softer than usual. When I let myself get swept away in the production, though, I totally get the appeal.
Five-Star Songs (& Albums!) This Month
BBB -- Purplekiss (the tiktok-music trend finally got me last year--against my will, admittedly. unfortunately for me, "bbb" is a fantastic example of that easy-listening, viral-tiktok sound from a group i'm already obsessed with, so of course i'm a huge fan. great vocal performances and silky songwriting? yeah, it's great--the muted aesthetic doesn't bug me at all--and i actually kind of love the super-short horn sections in the chorus. they're surprisingly full-sounding!)
Beam Beam -- Jeon Soyeon (i didn't get this one at all when it first came out, but i've warmed up to it over the years--and this month it just HIT. it's the perfect showcase of soyeon's energy, and it's such a rush!!)
Death To My Hometown -- Bruce Springsteen (five stars bc it has the words "robber barons" in it!!)
Girl I've Always Been -- Olivia Rodrigo (i keep underestimating olivia rodrigo's power as a performer. of course she could make this country-sounding track work. of course she could make it my favorite from the album in an instant. who am i to question??)
Hey Joe -- Bleachers (a sing-along for the politically disillusioned. happy 2024, fellow usamericans. well, at least the harmonies here are delightful!)
Jesus is Dead -- Bleachers (i mentioned that this album is unusually muted for bleachers--not dull as in 'boring in terms of production or songwriting', but dull as in dead-eyed and zombie-like. the vocal delivery, especially, is unusually bland and flat. "jesus is dead" is definitely the best use of this half-asleep, grayscale aesthetic on the album--a song as hopeless and monotone as its delivery. it's strange and stylish and messy, too, AND there's also a sax solo ?? and it works great ?? i admire it so so so much--i'm very surprised this didn't make the most-listened list, i've been looping it a whole bunch.)
The Ledge -- Fleetwood Mac
Self Respect -- Bleachers (re: saxophone.)
White Rabbit -- Jefferson Airplane (i don't think it's much of a hot take at all to say this one is fantastic. i heard it for the first time in february, and i've been completely obsessed since!!)
Heráldica -- Saramalacara (okay, i've had like. a week. with this album, but it was love at first listen--and "humo" already had my heart, anyway. the atmospherics are breathtaking, the production crisp and intense, and saramalacara's voice // the vocal production here fits SO well!! there's a song called ".tumblr" that's definitely worth checking out, though i enjoy every song on here !! except "_cuervos". i admire that one but god it disturbs me i never want to hear it again.)
Qué Nos Mantiene Despiertos -- Ine Güemes (first album of the year candidate of 2024 !!! not much of a surprise, i'm sure, given my top 15. more breathtaking atmospherics, but in the exact opposite direction of heráldica! this album is full of really unique textures, but all that chaos doesn't make it any less soothing. each song is distinct, but they all come together into this sweet, fluffy youtube-lofi-mix type of experience--and look, i'm a college student. could i ask for anything more in an album?)

Ok Hozier concert thoughts in order of the set list but also no order for the random things I remember
Awesome venue (Blossom Amphitheater). If I lived closer I’d go to so many shows. Also we drove through a little bit of the Cuyahoga National Park on our way out. It was a dark forest but would love to go back someday
Cool set! It looked like a scarf kinda, then the lighting and visuals changed it and the “scarf fringe” became the roots underground! Which like makes way more sense - it’s related to the album duh (yes I did have an edible before the show)
Opener Joy Oladokun was fantastic! Will be listening to more of her music. (Also the way she left the stage was so cool. The guitar sounded on all atmospheric and it was just neat)
Omg Hozier and band started off with De Selby pt 1 & 2 and it was magical. Like. It sounds like the album. But better even??
Also we stood up when he came out and didn’t sit down once - the energy was up!
Jackie & Wilson, From Eden - yes yes love them!
Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene was another one that somehow? Was better live
Dinner and Diatribes - loved the visuals they had on the screen at the back of the main stage and off to the sides. (I posted a short clip of this one)
Speaking of I didn’t record any whole song, just tried to catch all the talking bits between songs. He named all kinds of crew (and individual thank yous. Very nice) and at the end we all sang happy birthday to one of his crew team members!
There one bit where Hozier was like if you’re down there then who’s up here on stage? And the screen shows a dude with Hozier-like hair and beard got the crowd laughing - funny guy!
Next song was Francesca - 10/10 beautiful one of my favorites I love it
It Will Come Back - excellent dirty guitar and the lows he gets to make me shiver
Like Real People Do - so pretty
I, Carion (Icarian) - SO HAPPY he played this I wanted to cry
Abstract (Psychopomp) - he introduced it by of course mentioning the animal thdid mention before they started playing that “it ends on a happy note because it died a very quick death. It was fine. It didn’t suffer. Too long. It didn’t suffer too long. Happy Tuesday” (And that is a direct quote because I got that on video). Like… Sir 😆 Happy Tuesday I guess lol
Would That I - chilling the vibe a bit more - but got the crowd harmonizing which sounded so great
Just to get the crowd hype for Too Sweet!
Almost (Sweet Music) - beautiful vibes again
Eat Your Young - his voice hitting those high notes!
And of course Take Me to Church - powerful beautiful and got the progress flag out at the end 💗
They all went off stage but he came back alone (now hair up in a ponytail!) for an acoustic Cherry Wine performance. Gorgeous
Unknown - I will sha la la anytime anywhere
Nina Cried Power - another one of my favorites! And he introduced it by of course mentioning Ms. Mavis Staples and how big and small ways we can make a difference each day, and segued into the power of protest and what it’s achieved and then basically repeated what he said at Lolla (& maybe other shows?) about calling for ceasefire and a free Palestine and contacting our representatives. Like over 5 minutes and well worth it because it needs to be said. and acted upon.
Last one was Work Song. Just a perfect end.
So many kudos to the band
And seriously a tornado touched down in the area so the venue told everyone to shelter in our cars so my friend and I watched the clouds for a funnel and heard the sirens a few times and thankfully it passed and the show went on! Just a 30 minute delay of the gate opening. I know everyone there was manifesting the end to the severe weather lol
I will definitely try to see him live again. 100% with every penny! Oh yeah and Hozier thanked everyone and recognized the money spent to see him and other artists.
Very classy guy. Quality

Hozier concert last night at Zénith with @weird-mcgee: absolutely top
Lighting work was fantastic. Only about half the people there spoke English enough to know when they were cheering for what, but at least three quarters of them knew the words to From Eden well enough to belt it out as a crowd
Hearing Abstract live was a glorious experience and also introduced weird-mcgee to the well-known concept of Hozier Sings About Women Like a Lesbian
And he gave a small speech about poetry in revolution that, again, only half the people understood, but everyone liked anyway
OH and while I'm gushing about this, during Take Me To Church someone gave him a rainbow flag from the front of the audience and he took it and hung it over the mic. Everyone (myself included) lost their minds

My first ever concert was just this Tuesday (Oct 24th) and it was a Hozier concert. He's absolutely fantastic and one of the best performers I've ever seen despite this being my first ever concert. He was amazing....
But can we talk about how all his songs are the most profound, thought provoking, and soul moving thing ever.... And the inspiration is like >>This song is about me missing a sale at the local supermarket<< like huh????
He introduced "Abstract (Psychopomp)" with >>Now this song is about an animal getting hit by a car<< and his support just started banging out tunes like...???????????????
Hozier???? Huh??????

It truly has taken me forever to finish writing about my visit to see @winebrightruby and going to see Hozier together. I think it is of utmost importance that everyone know that there was practically a runway walk through the field to the (thankfully outdoor) stadium. There were so many gorgeous maxi dresses and skirts, and the most awesome array of flower crowns which I have ever seen in my life. There were also a handful of people who ought to have been embarrassed for the fact they wore their 'elf ears' out into public. Absolutely distasteful behavior but that is what happens when we let people who have never touched grass out into public. Our outfits were, of course, spectacular. I wore a vintage watercolor blue Gunne Sax dress and Ruby wore a gorgeous flowing skirt with peacocks printed into the fabric. And a very sweet girl stopped to give us some very pretty handmade bead bracelets while we were waiting on the show. It had been threatening to rain all day and was feeling a bit dangerous when we got our wine and went to sit down. I think the entire wait time was just Ruby and I sending prayers up for no rain (and, of course a bit of magic). Which turned out to work perfectly and was absolutely fantastic because Hozier said thanks for the magic done to prevent the rain when he stepped out. I cannot begin to say how amazing the concert was, though! Hozier's voice is exquisite in person and his accent is so precious when he speaks. He made eye contact with us during the first song which was really just the hallmark of the entire concert experience; oddly perfectly aligned to what we had hoped for down to the very song choices. (Take Me to Church and Movement back-to-back? There's some fun Polunin/Hozier lore). There were fireflies in the fields throughout it which just made it all the more magical. And, afterwards, as we were crossing the field again there were bats that flew overhead and warmed my cold heart.

6 albums i've been listening to (+1 standout track)
tagged by @vvanessaives thank u beloved rena!!!! 💜
cowboy carter - beyoncé - yaya - i have not been able to stop listening to this album since it came out... there are so many songs i could pick from this album as standouts for me but i think yaya is gonna be my pick! sure it's a country album on its surface and beyoncé definitely does honor country with it, but the album is also such a beautiful amalgamation of genres that blend together so well!!! and yaya is the perfect choice to show that fusion of genres especially with the prior interlude of "the linda martell show" explaining how genres are a "funny little concept" 🫶
preacher's daughter - ethel cain - sun bleached flies - this album... this fucking album... such a journey getting through it but completely worth it... and sun bleached flies is 100% my standout track because after following ethel's story throughout the whole album and hearing her death to her afterlife and then getting hit with this song?? it makes me cry every time i listen to it!!!!!
glow on - turnstile - holiday - my lovely friend nadia put me onto this album last month when she was getting ready to see this band in concert and it GAGGED MEEEEE i am not a huge listener of hardcore punk at all but as a newbie, this album was very accessible to me and SO much fun to listen to!!! and holiday was the song that stuck on the most for me on my first listen, it is SUCH a headbanger of a song, like i am so obsessed with it...
minisode 3: tomorrow - tomorrow x together - i'll see you there tomorrow - i'll see you there tomorrow is such a fun summer jam like it is completely different from everything else on this mini album but it was what stuck out to me the most on my first listen and i just keep coming back to it... it's like house-y and groovy, such a great listen!!
walk through fire - yola - love is light - another album introduced to me by my friend nadia!!! yola's voice in this song oh my days... she was SUCH a beautiful voice like it is so soothing and warm i can't describe it!! but she sings with such deep emotion too which is why i love listening to this song so much <3 like cowboy carter, something about country being sung by a Black woman is gonna do it for me every time...
unreal unearth - hozier - damage gets done (feat. brandi carlile) - i understood this on the first listen... this song is so over-hated for no reason, i don't understand why ppl dislike it!! it's such a perfect encapsulation of young, messy love and hozier and brandi's voices sound fantastic together... i love it!!!! and this whole album just WRECKED me on my first listen, like i spent half the album just crying :/
tagging - whoever sees this and wants to share their thoughts on some of their fave albums rn <333

Idk i just felt like typing some general musings/updateish stuff
I finished The Song of Achilles, and I'm just.....basking in the story or something. I've had people say it's their Roman Empire, and I get it. I so get it. I knew at the first "Catch." that it was going to be an emotional ride, and hoo boy was I correct. Even being knowledgeable about the epic already didn't soften the impact of the blows. The amount of tenderness throughout the book is so good. It's a violent and volatile story in a violent and volatile setting with the gods using humans as their playthings, but the tenderness!! Seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary and loving it because of it. Because it's extraordinary. To be loved for what one truly is. I can't even count how many times I just had to put the book down because of how hard a line went. I just really loved reading it. Even knowing what was coming didn't take away from the emotional impact of the storytelling. It's just fantastic. I cried a lot, it was great.
This is not anti-TS, nor am I, but I swear I have Taylor Swift fatigue. I know that a lot of it is not her fault, because who honestly can control the media? But she's everywhere, and I feel like I can't escape her or successfully avoid her, and now she's got a new album coming out, so she's definitely going stay prominent for a while longer. I'd thought that it would calm down post Super Bowl, but that doesn't look probable any longer. I'm the type of person that if something I'm not just absolutely crazy about is constantly fed to me, I want to avoid it. I haven't been able to actively enjoy anything of hers since Folklore because of that, and the constant exposure to her just makes that worse for me. So yeah. TS fatigue :/
But, speaking of music, I've got tickets to a LOT of concerts this year, and I'm really excited about them!! I'll be traveling solo quite a bit, which isn't ideal, but I wouldn't be going at all otherwise, which is even less ideal. Life's too short to miss out on things you love if you're able to do them! Silent Planet, Aviana, Hozier, Imminence, Sleep Token x2, and Lord Huron x2 🤩 And I've been making bracelets to hands out for the ST and LH shows!!

what was the best concert you've ever been to?
oh god fdjsndfskdfs funny you ask that cause i went to one last night hehe (hozier, he was freaking amazing!!!!)
i've been to a lot of concerts in the past 15 years but i'd say hands down taylor swift's eras tour last may in new jersey. it had been a very long time coming for me. i've been a fan of her music for 15+ years and that was my first time seeing her, and i had a fun new york girls trip planned around it with friends. all the hype is very much deserved, it was fantastic seriously!!!
honorable mentions: jonas brothers last august in NYC with @tawaifeddiediaz hehehe, green day in... 2018? in my city, simple plan in 2019 (it was a tour for the 15th anniversary of their first album and it was intimate and at a small venue, it was so cool), les cowboys fringants in 2022 (my favorite french canadian band). honestly i've been to a lot of great concerts, i'm very lucky!!

Five songs! I was tagged by @dicaeopolis for this and barring more instructions I'm assuming it's just list 5 songs youve been liking recently so let's go
Butchered Tongue by Hozier - ok i like the entire most recent album, it's great, but Butchered Tongue is probably my favorite there (close tie with I, Carrion (Icarian)). It helps that I put it on a character playlist and so I listen to it and watch the AMV in my mind and have a great time and end up wildly emotional. Which is a time-honored tradition.
Last Man Standing by Bruce Springsteen - ok so I didn't know this song very well -- it wasn't one of the Springsteen songs I'd really listened to -- and then I ended up hearing it in concert through a completely unexpected sequence of events and it was fantastic. His voice is incredible as ever, it carries the emotion of being the last remnant of a time and a group that no longer exists.
The Dead Waltz by Radical Face - Listen. Weird small children? Talking to spirits and the dead? A narrator who's just trying to be practical in the face of this? The quiet ache of "don't you mind/don't you mind/I'll watch over her as though she were mine" sung by the main character as he promises to take care of the child of the woman he loves who does not love him? It's a good song.
Who Do You Love by Marianas Trench - this song has some hypnotic power over me where it starts playing and no matter what else I was doing i immediately start singing along. Also there was no way a Marianas Trench song didn't make it onto this list.
Anthem by Leonard Cohen - Another song that makes me feel a lot of emotions! I mean, Leonard Cohen is very good at that in general, but for whatever reason Anthem has made a home in my brain right now and isn't leaving.
As for who I'm tagging - I guess @murderandcoffee and @captainmistyknight if they're interested!

8, 11, 14, 26, 29 for the concert ask 👀
8. Which concert did you vibe most with the crowd?
Answered Hozier at the Troubadour and They Might be Giants earlier but on further reflection my real fav was actually a super indie show. I saw Moxie with Sun Casino and Jacklen Ro at Bottom of the Hill in SF, a fantastic little dive bar with super indie lineups that I try to go to every time I'm in the area. These bands sound like sunshine, their music is such a good vibe and felt so wonderful in such a small space. I met up with a few tumblr mutuals there and the opening bands joined the mosh pit, it was so sweet and everyone in the crowd was having such a great time.
11. Have you ever sat front row at a show?
Most of the shows I go to are general admission or have a pit at the front; I can't think of a time it's been seated and I had the front row. But I've been at the barricade for:
Glass Animals
Bad Suns, opener was Last Dinosaurs
Ginger Root
Mustard Service, opener was late night drive home
The Longest Johns
The Wrecks, opener was Arlie
Bad Sex, opener was The Ravagers
Moxie with Sun Casino and Jacklen Ro
The Moss
Hozier
L.S. Dunes with Pinkshift (had so much fun helping security get the crowd surfers at this one and kept getting callouts from the band <3 got covid tho so 9/10).
This list will be twice as long by the end of the year lmao, whenever something is general admission I get there as early as I can and I go to lots of little venues <3
14. Are you a phone in hand recording/taking pics so you can watch later concert goer or a phone in back pocket living in the moment type?
Sooooo that really depends, at these tiny venues the sound mixing isn't going to come across really well on a camera but when you know all the lyrics and are just vibing with everything close to the amps, earplugs in? It's not about how it sounds. I think the last concert I recorded completely was mcr night 5 (oh god almost a year ago), but I like to record at least whatever the biggest hit by a band is or my fav song and just enjoy the moment for the rest <3
26. Do you get concert hangovers? Or post concert depression?
I don't even get regular hangovers 😅 After MCR LA Night 5 I drove 3 hours back home and spent 4 hours finishing a lab report. I love concerts so much and have like. a post concert glow for a few days.
29. Do you usually have a few alcoholic beverages or do you hydrate intentionally with a bunch of water?
I bring a huge water bottle for the drive there and another for the drive back every time and usually have one big beer if I'm driving myself but maybe more if someone else is driving. But uh. I mostly go to concerts by myself or drive friends since I can drive 6 hours across LA for something, mosh, and still be fine in the morning. I don't know how I do it either but I try not to ask too many questions.

last song: Like real people do - Hozier because and I'm flexing on purpose here I'm just back from hozier's concert.
currently watching: Nothing. I haven't watched anything in a way that's continued since the gold from the bbc like 3 or 4 months ago.
currently reading :TOKYO UENO STATION - Yu Miri. and it's taking me like more than 2 months, local library hates me bc i'm not bringing it back but it takes me SO much becuase it's so damn sad. This man just experiences grief after grief after heartbreak.
current obsession: updating Hozier's twitter, but hear me out: it was a fantastic evening, audience as cheerful as it can be, everything great. But then after the concert we wait outside for him to say hi, (girls I was waiting with confirm he's done it after every show so far). turns out we've been waiting 2 hours and he left in secret in a car with darkened windows. I didn't want him to stay outside for hours but a handwave would have been nice. Especially because he wrote songs inspired by the divine comedy and he was in italy. so anyway i'm refreshing bc i want to understand if something happened bc he didn't even tweet the obligatory "how nice it was to be here" post.

Heyya! Hope you don't me participating in your Music ask game ^^
6, 9, 10, 13, 14, 18, 22, & 28
I'm a music junky so I love getting to know people's fav songs on a deeper level ♡
<3333 no i LOVE music stuff!!! thank you for asking i am sooooo excited to share!!! 🥹 I'll try not to ramble so much.
6. A song that makes you want to dance
I have a habit of blasting music and dancing (badly) around my apartment when I clean, which isn't productive, but it's a lot of FUN and I have a set playlist for it hehe... the first song on that is Nina Cried Power by Hozier! (i love hozier soooo much)
9. A song that makes you happy
Okay I am currently getting in such a happy summer vibey mood with Elevate by ASL - no idea how it came into my sphere but it's bouncy and cheeky and delightful! It makes me want to go walk in the park or sit in the sun, just instant mood lifter.
10. A song that makes you sad
Hmm. Music is very emotionally evocative for me. I think a lot of songs place me in a very melancholic mood, for various reasons, maybe different memories that come back, and, different nuances of sadness. A song that makes me sad but that I still enjoy is "Work Out" by Rainbow Kitten Surprise - I recently went though a bittersweet sort of breakup, and this is a song I've clung to.
13. One of your favorite 80’s songs
I was not raised on American 80s music but in my adulthood I have found it a genre of endless treasures. I LOVE "Sister Christian" by Night Rider. I have attempted (and failed) it at many a karaoke.
14. A song that you would love played at your wedding
There are a lot of ethnic songs that would absolutely be played; also, 40s, 50s music. I think one would be Frank Sinatra's version of "Moon River." (My ex and I planned a lot of songs that I am in the midst of reclaiming for me lol!)
18. A song from the year that you were born
God, little junior / high school me was THRILLED that my (at the time) favorite Green Day album came from the same year. "She" is possibly my favorite song from Dookie but it's a fun album.
22. A song that moves you forward
I'm interpreting this as, a song that's encouraging, mood-lifting, motivating... I think that would be "Woods" by Mac Miller - something quiet, determined, still assured. Several songs off of the Circles album, really. I could go on and on about how much Mac Miller and his musical evolution means to me. (Honorable mention to "All Things End" by Hozier but I already mentioned him in this list so.)
28. A song by an artist with a voice that you love
DIFFICULT. Mac, Hozier, Frank - I'd repeat a lot. Maybe Amy Winehouse. Maybe "Santé" by Stromae, because his Tiny Desk Concert just sounded so DELIGHTFUL. Ooooh or his song "Mon Amour" (also FANTASTIC at the Tiny Desk Concert!!).
