"Madame Tutli-Putli" is a stop-motion animation, and this animated short film was nominated for the best Short Animation at the Academy Awards and won the Best Short Film Award at the Toronto World Short Film Festival. It is a very excellent experimental animation. The animation follows Ms Tuil-Putli as she boards an evening train, exhausted by heavy luggage and some experiences. He has to deal with everything on this journey alone, including the kindness or danger of strangers, and as the train continues to advance and night falls, the woman is drawn into a vortex of mystery and suspense, and he finds himself in a frustrating psychological adventure that switches between reality and fantasy. The animation uses puppets and stop-motion animation, but unlike other similar films, the puppets have real eyes, which adds to the weirdness and mystery of the film. In the case of experimental animation, the makers not only provided the audience with an unusual film, but also opened up a new path for themselves. This film uses unusual materials to make puppets, which is undoubtedly a bold attempt for them to pursue a higher level and more abstract, free art form. The animation also hinted at the relationship between men and women. On the train, a man with fierce eyes constantly sexually harassed the woman sitting opposite him. This scene hinted at the structure of gender relations to some extent. The narrative perspective of the animation is also what I want to discuss. For an animation, the narrative perspective is a very important part. A good narrative perspective can make the animation more attractive to the audience and is also an important factor for the recognition of the audience and film critics. The narrative internalizes a character and his ongoing life story, and animators edit and integrate these stories that take place in different times, different places, different people into a new story. One of the main forms of artistic expression in animation works is the narrative perspective. The narrative mode of omniscient perspective is the one I use most often. This perspective means that the narrator can be any role, and the narrator can also enter the inner world of any role, and understand and watch the events happening in different locations at the same time. And no matter how to describe the events and plots of the animation, they should be depicted in accordance with a certain visual scope.

NASA high-end computing plays a key role in taking many agency missions from concept to application in the real world. From increasing accuracy of global weather forecasts for forecast entities (like NOAA) to warn of severe storms, to designs for future air taxis to safely fly people around urban areas, to parachute design tests for landing spacecraft on the Moon and other planets, our supercomputing resources and experts are driving science and engineering advances for the benefit of humanity. These projects and much more will be on display in the agency’s hybrid exhibit during SC23, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis. This year’s conference is being held in Denver, Nov. 12–17. 1. Simulating Air Taxi Safety Near the Ground With the development of urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles, in the near future people might be hailing rides in air taxis. Researchers studying the aerodynamics performance of multiple UAM designs are focusing this year on simulations to analyze how these vehicles perform close to the ground. Many of the agency’s UAM aircraft concepts have rotors, just like helicopters. Supercomputers at the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley run complex, high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics simulations that capture in detail the interaction between rotors, other vehicle components, and the ground surface. These simulations enable scientists to better understand the vehicle aerodynamics and the rotor-induced flow around the vehicles to detect potentially dangerous areas with high winds and gusts. Simulation data allows the team to predict changes in how UAMs handle close to the ground and to provide guidelines for safe crew and passenger movement near the vehicles. Predicting the Strongest Storms within a Global Computer Model The common fuel for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes is convection – vigorous up-and-down motions of the atmosphere that vertically transport heat and moisture. Operational weather forecasting centers typically predict convective-scale weather using regional, limited-area computer models because global models at convection resolving resolution need too much computing power. Researchers at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, have adapted their global Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) model to apply finer grid resolutions of 2 to 4 kilometers (about 1.25 to 2.5 miles) over the continental United States. GEOS forecasts running on the NASA Center for Climate Simulation’s (NCCS’s) Discover supercomputer and NAS’s Aitken supercomputer are extending the predictability of the strongest storms beyond two days while better representing local impacts from intense precipitation, winds, and heat. Ongoing simulations accurately tracked extreme weather events of 2023 including hurricanes Idalia and Lee and tropical storm Ophelia. Hurricane Idalia made landfall along Florida’s northern Gulf Coast on August 30, 2023. The team deployed their  autonomous onboard science agent to analyze simulated data in “real-time.” The agent uses multiple machine learning models to process and interpret the relative amounts of various compounds detected in Europa’s icy plumes – indicators of the possibility of life – autonomously interprets those data, then makes decisions impacting follow-on analysis or prioritized data transmission based on pre-programmed mission goals.    With its steady plume of subsurface liquid water jetting out into space, Saturn’s moon Enceladus is a likely candidate for an astrobiology study on a future NASA mission using autonomous spacecraft. Homestuck 2 has updated! Christmas is ruined!

Previously, on Homestuck 2: Literally nothing happened, and a non-trivial portion of the patreon supporters gave up and quit. Can this update pull a Christmas miracle and right the sinking ship of Homestuck 2? Probably not, but let’s find out! 

We’re back in Candyland, having completely skipped over Karkat and John talking about Dave’s apparent death, because this comic is only interested in long conversations when they’re boring and not about anything at all. That’s alright, I got the gist of it.

When Karkat is finally gone, John still doesn’t move. It isn’t as though he has nowhere else to go, since there are quite a few places he might attempt to make himself useful, for better or for worse.

So, it appears to be morning now, meaning that John’s son has been missing in a war zone for almost 24 hours and I guess John literally forgot Harry existed?

Prediction: This conversation is going to end in some variant of “Where is our son?” “Oh shit!”

Oh hey, it was a fakeout. Good job, Homestuck 2. You successfully implied something just through the art. Art which, by the way, looks a lot better than the last chapter. There are backgrounds and everything. I wonder if Chapter 15 was rushed out due to Hiveswap and that’s why it was so weak?

He’s almost embarrassed by how relieved he feels. So what if his ex wife wanted to hook up? Shouldn’t that be a situation he could navigate? Don’t people like to find solace in human physical connection during dire times? Why did the idea of it make his mind white out in panic more than, say, any number of the traumas he just experienced?

I’m not the biggest fan of the way the narration is going JOHN IS AFRAID OF SEX WITH ROXY LIKE HE’S A TEENAGE VIRGIN AGAIN (LIKE IN HS1!) AND IT DOESN’T REALLY MAKE SENSE PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IT’LL BE IMPORTANT LATER, but okay, noted.

Oh thing HS2 has not been great at is that it has a lot of plot mysteries that are supposed to keep us enticed but they don’t really get implanted into the audience’s head (Remember Vrissy mysteriously collapsing that one time? Probably not, she did it off screen and the boys kind of laughed it off). This one’s hard to miss.

It’s kind of weird how this meteor keeps popping up like this.

This is an unexpected but not unwelcome direction for Callie to have gone.

CALLIOPE: to pUt it another way, becaUse nothing in here "matters", we are likely to be sUbjected to things which are a bit bats in the belfry, for no reason other than it's totally insignificant to the wider canon of reality.

Okay, so we are now being explicitly told that living in the black hole is fucking with the characters and is part of the reason they make such baffling decisions, like Rose not telling Kanaya about Yiffy, or naming her daughter “Yiffy” in the first place.

CALLIOPE: we need yoU to free vriska from the clUtches of oUr misgUided friend jane, and bring her here, to the singUlarity.

CALLIOPE: yes, the plot point is a key part of oUr plan

CALLIOPE: as far as we have been able to sUrmise, the only remaining method for escaping oUr grim confinement depends on leveraging the UniqUe properties of this location to create an event of sUch catalcysmic proportions that it simply cannot be contained within the black hole any more.

CALLIOPE: something SO dramatic, so hyper-relevant, that it becomes ontologically impossible for anyone to ignore it.

CALLIOPE: for that, we need an individUal of sUfficient narrative cloUt, so to speak.

CALLIOPE: and to liberate her, who better than the embodiment of the aspect of freedom itself?

So, the plan is literally for Vriska to be such a Huge 8itch that the black hole itself gets sick of her and yeets Earth C out of its own event horizon to freedom.

This is actually a great plan. 

And that’s Hamsteak. This definitely feels like a bit of a reaction to complaints about HS2, but hey, I dig it, I guess? Definite improvement over the last chapter.

And a third page written in Italian was added to the historical texts.

“Last of the Great Ones” is interesting, because Zaird says to Sol Regem his staff was a gift from one of the Great Ones. Sol Regem is alarmed but doesn’t immediately know who Zaird is talking about. So apparently between that conversation and when this text was written all Great Ones except for Aaravos died, and even he ‘fell’.

Also this note about Aaravos not being at full power.

As a ‘fallen’ Startouch elf Aaravos can only access a fraction of his former power.

The spell Zaird used to absorb the sunbirds to create the fireball he used against Sol Regem and the spell that Aaravos casts for Viren to absorb Zym’s power are meant to resemble each other in their swirling vortex. The symbol for Dark Magic also has a swirl in it around a diamond shaped like the one on Aaravos’ chest. This absorption vortex seems to be pretty central to Dark Magic, and it only seems it can be done with the staff Aaravos most likely crafted. 

The Show

Zaird staff is the same staff Viren uses. Aaravos recognized it. Given the historical text Aaravos is the “Great One” who gifted Zaird that staff.

Elves don’t seem to ride horses, but big cats, dogs, lizards, etc instead. Yet Aaravos choose to depict himself riding a star primal horse (He could make Viren see any creature he wanted). Considering it turns out that unicorns and Startouch elves are the only two star primal creatures humans know about, is he just being dramatic or does this have a deeper meaning?

AE: First Elves are startouch elves, or possibly a subset of startouch elves...

When did the idea of Aaravos come up? How early in the planning of the saga did you guys come up with him?

AE: Justin and I came up with Aaravos very very early. In the early stages we referred to him as "Mirror Mage." We always knew he would be the secret long-game mystery villain... Aaron

AE: No, it was discovered not created. Did Aaravos turn them onto it or help them discover it? That’s very possible. Whether Aaravos played a role in developing their ability to do dark magic. Exploring the possibilities of dark magic.

How could Avizandum (Thunder) imprison such a powerful creature as Aaravos? Can archdragons do such magic or who helped him? This required some collaboration between archdragons and elves

Were you surprised by all the thirsty reactions to Aaravos? Judging from everyone who worked on the show and their reactions, no we weren't surprised :)

Where is Aaravos walking in epsiode 6? And how and where did he a get a horse?

Aaravos can basically make Viren “see” him however he wants, so he chose to appear on the back of a purple horse. There was actually a line in there at one point that we had to cut for time that clarified a bit more heavily -- Viren grumbles at him, “Must you appear... that way?” as Aaravos is floating in the air, and Aaravos replies, “Ah, I can appear more naturally if you’d like,” and then he flips backwards onto the horse as you see in scene in episode 6. :P

The titan stole fire and gave it to humans, elevating them – and was punished by the gods for this. [Laughs] Ehasz: Yeah, they are more - I mean, they’re Star Elves and they’re more associated with the heavens and they’re not immortal, but they have more of a time scale that is more like the stars than other elves, so they’re a little bit removed and big picture, but Star Elves have a, I mean, they’re part of mystery and myth and we’re going to meet one this season. I love the actor who plays him is Erik Todd Dellums, who I worked with on Avatar [the Last Airbender] who has an amazing voice and he’s perfect to embody a character like this and we’re excited about this character. We hope the audience is intrigued and ready for more.

Going back to Aaravos for one second. We’re assuming there’s a reason why he seems to be telling this story — we see his hands at the beginning of each episode in the opening sequence. AE: Yeah, so he’s a Startouch Elf, and they are closest to the heavens of the elves. They’re kind of the most god-like, in the sense of they span much more time than more Earth-bound or Xadia-bound elves. So yeah, he has this thousand year perspective. This kind of mythic role. So he’s like this mythic character who now, suddenly, is kind of popping up in this contemporary story. JR: And obviously, he’s bad enough that they tried to literally erase him from the books. AE: He’s complicated. JR: He’s interesting enough that they tried to erase him from the books. AE: He’s disliked. That’s not the same as bad.

“The name of a very important person to Aaravos will be in the map of a novel, but it will be a long time before you know what that means,” Ehasz said. “A lot of his motivation comes from that relationship.”

The team also teased The Orphan Queen, a new story they hope to tell in the series, books or even in a feature film, which follows a young human girl who starts from nothing and grows up without parents. She takes a dangerous journey to Xadia and ends up saving the world. She’s also Ezran’s first royal ancestor. Ehasz and Richmond said the idea was born when they were imagining where the Key of Aaravos comes from.

Ehasz and Richmond also dug into the timeline of Xadia, and how certain eras will impact both the books and the series. Five thousand years ago, Xadia was in its “mythical, Biblical first days,” a time long before elves and dragons were allied in which humans suffered and struggled. The “rise of Elarion” came around 2,000 years before the events of the series, and saw humans find their way to magic. Around 1200 years ago finds the arch dragon of sun, Sol Regem, as king of the dragons during this era, when dark magic became problematic and humans poached magical creatures for their parts. Shortly after came the division of Xadia. The next big turning point for the world was 300 years before the series, a time Ehasz and Richmond dub “the era of Avizandum.” Two stories they want to tell take place during this era: The Fallen Star and The Orphan Queen. We don’t know anything about The Fallen Star yet ... but we will. The team noted that history will one day know the modern era as “The Return of Aaravos.”

July 21, 2021 - Dun Dun Dun... Covid Vaccines for Kids!

Q. Vaccine vortex: My husband and I have both received our COVID vaccines, but he refuses to vaccinate our children. When I ask him why, he tells me he “has reasons,” but won’t divulge them. I have shown him countless articles and reports from the CDC saying the vaccine is safe for children, but he won’t budge. He actually told me the CDC, WHO, and AMA are all “corrupt organizations” and he won’t listen to their advisories.

I’m at my wit’s end. Cases are surging in my county. I told him I didn’t understand why my “yes” meant less than his “no,” but he doubled-down with “I’ve made my decision.” How can we get past this?

A: You have until this point been a vaccinating family, and I think what makes sense is to default to the status quo agreement. He’s the one who is seemingly being radicalized at this very moment and suddenly became anti-science, so he should be the one who has to negotiate a new set of rules. So unless he can convince you that he’s right (spoiler: he can’t), vaccinate the kids.

Yes, he’ll be mad, but there’s no room for compromise here. And the answer to your question about why your “yes” means less than his “no” is: It doesn’t. It actually means more.

Who cares how he feels?  A bad father’s opinion doesn’t trump a concerned mother’s facts.  There is no evidence of any vaccine, let alone this one, being dangerous, so what’s his reason?

Your kids could have their lungs mangled for life and he does not have the right to do that to them.  I know this may be controversial, but I personally think parents shouldn’t have the right to refuse vaccines for their kids, no matter what their fake gods or beliefs say.  You’re a custodian of your child, not a property owner, you’re raising that kid to be an adult and that includes doing the best to not let them die of preventable fucking diseases.  If you can’t mentally handle your kid getting a shot, or a blood transfusion, or cancer treatment, you shouldn’t have them - you’re a bad parent and a bad person.

If your kids are able to get the vaccines, they are old enough to be cognizant of it.  We vaccinate the young to prevent them from diseases they don’t understand or can’t make decisions on, but teenagers, reasonably, can understand they’re being hung out to dry by their parents. 

So go, there’s a Walgreens somewhere nearby.

What exactly is River Song?

🧬 Origins

River Song is the third body of Melody Pond, the child of Amy Pond and Rory Williams. She was born chiefly human, but because she was conceived aboard the TARDIS as it travelled through the Time Vortex, she gained some minimal Time Lord DNA in her genome.

This unique combo made her DNA ridiculously interesting to a lovely lady called Madame Kovarian, who took the baby, diddled with her DNA a bit and unlocked a plethora of Gallifreyan abilities. Madame Kovarian also used Melody's DNA to create a kind of pseudo-Gallifreyan race known as 'Proto-Time Lords'.

🔬 The Biology of Proto-Time Lords

Regeneration: Like Time Lords, River has the ability to regenerate, though the number of regenerations varies among her clones.

Two Hearts: River and her clones have the two hearts of a Gallifreyan.

Enhanced Abilities: River has a deep understanding of time and space, an acute sense of smell, respiratory bypass, and the ability to sense temporal anomalies.

Individual Talents: Each proto-Time Lord has other unique abilities.

🎭 Biological and Cultural Identity

While proto-Time Lords inherit crucial Gallifreyan biological traits, they lack the cultural and academic upbringing that typically defines a Time Lord. Essentially, they have the pieces but not the full package of a Time Lord's training and experiences. This means the term 'Proto-Time Lord' is a bit of a misnomer to start with, but I'm sure Professor Moffat's class can tell you more about why that is.

🏫 So...

In essence, River Song is a disorganised blend of human and Time Lord biology. As a proto-Time Lord, she got a lot of Gallifreyan traits but isn't a full Time Lord. Essentially, she and her clones have most of the pieces in the flatpack but don't have a picture on the box.

TW One: Latter Days - the VORTEX article on the upcoming audio!

THEY’RE BACK and it’s all about the team (unless you’re Yvonne Hartman and then it’s very much all about you !)… We return to Canary Wharf in London to meet the team at Torchwood One for a third box set of adventures in Latter Days. Tracy-Ann Oberman is back in the heels and business suit of Yvonne Hartman, and Gareth David-Lloyd reprises his role as Ianto Jones.

In this box set of three tales we meet Yvonne’s mother; see Torchwood through the eyes of one of its cleaners; and Ianto finds himself trapped inside the retirement plans of Tommy – the head of Alien Acquisitions.

The set opens with Retirement Plan which was written by Ianto  himself, actor Gareth David-Lloyd, and features a character we first met in box set one – only now, Tommy is retiring. But there’s something very wrong in the idyll of El Cielo, and it’s going to kill Ianto. There are spies, guns and snowmobiles, a secret base – and definitely piranhas!

Gareth says: “I’m a bit more familiar writing for the characters than I was the first time around when I had to go back over the first series of Torchwood One. I did some more research on Yvonne’s character for this one, but I know her and the others much better this time. 

“I wasn’t given too much of a detailed brief – just that it was all to do with retirement – and that was it! The central character in this one is Tommy played brilliantly by Tim Bentinck who was in the first series of Torchwood One. Unfortunately, death is the way most people leave Torchwood – either that, or they are retconned! But Tommy has some ideas about retirement within the constraints of working for Torchwood and he’s planning an alternative. He’s been secretly pottering away on his own retirement dream but he needs Ianto’s help to realise it.”

As well as writing the adventure, Gareth is enjoying playing a different facet to Ianto’s character, having established himself as a firm favourite with listeners through his work at Torchwood Three in Cardiff.

He confirms: “It was great fun to play a different, more innocent side to Ianto in the first series, and to come back and write for him has been a great pleasure.

“The whole idea of Ianto living out his fantasies as a secret agent has been in my head for some time. Ianto and Yvonne get trapped in a James Bond world – it’s a bit risqué.

“When I was writing there were some moments where I thought Tracy-Ann will either love me or hate me for this – the reasons for which will become evident! “Yvonne is a great character. At least you know when you work for Torchwood that you are sort of being looked after by Yvonne – as long as you do exactly what she says! She can be very unforgiving if you stray from her agenda.” When you’re writing a script that features the character you play, do you ever consider giving yourself all the best lines?

Gareth laughs: “Ianto always gets a couple of nice dry one-liners, though there wasn’t any temptation to give myself the best lines – I definitely wanted to make the story about Tommy. Ianto has some fun interjections but Tim has got such great comic timing I wanted to utilise that as best as I could.”

A MYSTERIOUS FORCE is wiping out Torchwood in Locker 15, by Matt Fitton, the second story in this set, and the only person who can save London is a cleaner called Dave.

Matt explains: “The Torchwood One stories are all about office life, in a way. I just wanted to look at how Yvonne runs things, and what it is like working there for her. Yvonne likes to know her staff but she can be incredibly ruthless, to get the job done.

“The first box set was about the new person coming in to work at Torchwood and seeing it through her eyes; volume two was about business as usual and the day to day work. Series three is about what happens when you retire, and we’ve various stories about people coming to the end of their Torchwood working lives and their different ways of leaving.

“In Locker 15 they uncover a problem in the offices of Torchwood One and need the help of an old employee who used to be a cleaner and has been retired for a few years, as he might know something about what’s going on.”

Although Torchwood as a series features fantastical ideas, there’s always been an element of the real world to it. As the original publicity for the television series said, it’s The X Files meets This Life.

Matt explains: “Even though Torchwood are dealing with weird and wonderful aliens you’ve got to remember they still have an office to run – with people to empty the bins, refill the paper tray and fix the photocopier. Would someone who has done that at Torchwood need to be retconned when they leave, and what would the longer term effects of that be?

“Just what happens when someone retires from Torchwood? There’s a high mortality rate among its agents, but what about the cleaner? That’s when we meet Dave Cook, who Yvonne and Ianto find in a care home, and they try to prise information from his memory.

“In the past, we’ve likened Torchwood One to the TV series Archer which features a dysfunctional group of spies – here we have a dysfunctional office, which just happens to be full of alien hunters.”

THE EVENTS of the Torchwood team’s domestic lives come to the forefront in The Rockery by Tim Foley. Anne Hartman has retired to the country, which comes as a surprise to her daughter. Has Yvonne met a problem even she can’t solve?

Tim says: “This is probably the first Torchwood story I’ve pitched completely from scratch. I was watching the recording of 9 to 5 (from the previous box set) and Tracy-Ann squared up magnificently against Jane Asher. Yvonne’s dynamic with a figure that was older and equal to her was so electric. So I got in touch with James Goss and asked, ‘Are we ever going to meet Yvonne’s mother?’ Hint hint hint. He got in touch with Russell T Davies who really liked the idea, and then we found ourselves working out how we could meet Anne Hartman, what she was like and what she’d think of the daughter she’d raised. It turns out that the themes worked really well for the next Torchwood One box set, so I leapt at the chance to write it!

“Yvonne’s mother has retired early and Yvonne isn’t happy about it. Anne Hartman moves to the countryside and we see Yvonne bouncing back and forth between her life in the city and her mother’s new life in Shropshire. It’s a story of a strained relationship, with love and pain and things unsaid and strange plants at the bottom of the garden.”

For Tim, expanding on Yvonne’s personal life was something of a joy. He says: “This is somebody retiring who has never known Torchwood… and never wishes to know it. It would be very easy to write a character that was effectively Yvonne senior, but we found it far more interesting to imagine Yvonne as her father’s daughter (I obliquely referred to Yvonne’s dad in a previous Torchwood story since we decided he’s mentioned as working in security in a certain 1970s Doctor Who!). 

“Who, then, is Anne? I’m really excited for listeners to meet her. Unlike her husband and her daughter, Anne has always tried to live a quiet life. But with Yvonne back in the picture, there’s hardly going to be much of that…”

Tracy-Ann adds: “There’s so much love for Yvonne. Whenever I’m on tour, people bring her up and say how much they love her in Big Finish.”

Matt Fitton and producer James Goss have previously told Vortex that their writing for Torchwood One has been partly inspired by bad office jobs they’ve held in the past. Has there been anything from Tim’s own working life that’s fed in to this story?

He reveals: “I mainly work in theatre, and this script is the most play-like I’ve written for Big Finish (that’s something James Goss noted as well, I think he called me out for using act breaks!). It’s three characters navigating what it means to be human; it’d work well on stage. I adore the fact that Torchwood as a show can be this flexible. Some days I get to write about the end of the world, and on other days I get to write about a lonely woman tending to her rockery. When I retire myself, it’s a time I’ll look upon very fondly!”

TASKED WITH bringing the trio of tales to life was director Barnaby Edwards, who tells Vortex what he thinks makes Torchwood One so special: “We only got a glimpse of Yvonne Hartman on television before she met her well-deserved cybernetic fate. And yet those brief minutes during which she lit up the screen with her ruthless, camp, solipsistic effulgence were enough to make us thirst for more. Similarly, we never got as much Ianto as that character merited.

“So, for me, what makes the Torchwood One adventures so special is expanding our knowledge of Yvonne, the black widow spider who is the master brain at the centre of Torchwood’s web, and Ianto, the loyal puppy who is very much the heart of Torchwood.”

Barney – who also directed the first two box sets of this series – particularly enjoys working with the series’ two main leads. He says: “Tracy-Ann and Gareth are two of my favourite performers. The partnering of cynical Yvonne with the exuberant, innocent and utterly loveable Ianto is what makes these stories such a joy to direct. They’re the best double act around.”

And were there plenty of memorable moments during the recording days? Barney grins: “Many, actually. Hearing Ianto’s James Bond fantasies, finding out what makes Tommy (Torchwood’s Q, played by the brilliant Tim Bentinck) tick, and – of course – meeting the only woman more terrifying than Yvonne Hartman: her mother!”

We added some special nodes and code to make the 3 Sages stay in their respective areas of the house. However, if you rebuild the entire lot the worst thing that will happen is the Sages will just walk around like normal Sims. Nothing too bad.

Possible solution for your tiny living Spellcaster: Use the Glimmerstone to travel to The Magic Realm from anywhere. Use those cauldrons to craft potions. Each batch of potions yields 4 bottles. Learn the Copypasto Spell and copy your potions instead of brewing them again.

Yes those can all be sold. When the Familiar is in the Orb form it is attached to the Orb. When a Familiar is bound to a Sim it will actually consume the orb until the Familiar is unbound again returning to Orb form.

Early morning, and the scene was still very much under police control. The mess of bodies still being carefully removed one by one by clean up crews and forensics teams who definitely didn’t get paid quite enough to be subjected to such a thing. Though, Q couldn’t see much from where he stood, behind caution tape far from Vortex’s entrance, through blurry, watery eyes. He really channeled Quinn for this one— emotional demeanor, freshly dyed hair as close to his natural peachy shade of pink as he could find. Innocent, in all senses of the word. 

“Mr. Jung,” the detective beside him interjected gently, pulling him from the fake distraught trance he’d been in with a careful hand against his upper arm. It was too easy, really, as small and doe eyed as he was, to play dumb. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to rush you, but we would benefit greatly from hearing your statement.”

“No no, it’s okay,” the soft voice escaped his lips as if it was his own. Well... it sort of was. He even threw in a tiny hiccup near the end of the phrase to accompany the hand he lifted to wipe at his wet cheeks. The detective pulled a tissue from his pocket then, offering it to the distraught fae, which he accepted with a tiny bow. “I understand.”

“Good. Now, if I may continue— you said you not only own Vortex here, but also the other two clubs that were involved in the mass shooting last night? Is that correct?”

“Yes sir.”

“Where were you last night around midnight, Mr. Jung?”

“Home,” Q answered truthfully, voice shaky. As expected, the detective sent him quite the suspicious look. “I—” Outwardly, he began to panic, as if he was a first grader getting into trouble with his teacher for the first time. “Is that not good? M-my brother can attest to it if you need, I’m—”

“It’s alright, Mr. Jung. If we need a formal alibi, we’ll ask for it. You’re not suspected of anything quite yet, but you can see how this is puzzling, yes? Three clubs, all hit in one night, all owned by the same person. Do you have any notable enemies?”

The fae’s arms wound around his torso in anxiety, making him look even smaller than he already was. “I... I dunno, I mind my business, y’know? There aren’t a lot of non-humans in this industry. Especially fae. You can see how that is, right?” he prompted the detective, glancing up at him with wide blue eyes. “So I try to stay away from... making enemies like that.”

The man gave a long pause, features going slightly softer in response to the look on the faerie’s face. “So why are you in this industry? If it’s so dangerous for you?”

Q let out a breathy laugh through the tears. “I never said it was dangerous, I can hold my own in a board room, y’know? But I guess... it’s more dangerous than I thought,” he concluded, eyes shifting back to the exterior of his club, taking in the sidewalk covered in broken glass, a body bag being carried out the front entrance. Glancing back to the detective beside him, he found that the man looked at him with something akin to pity. “I pride myself on my clubs being supernatural friendly... Could that be it? People don’t like that?” The fae started to become visibly shook up once more, lifting the back of a hand to cover his eyes as more tears rolled down his cheeks. “I just wanted to create safe spaces, I didn’t mean to—”

The detective put a hand on his shoulder then, if only to calm him before he had some kind of panic attack. “I won’t lie, a hate crime is looking very possible right now, but it’s too early to tell. I’m not allowed to give away too many of the details. But leave it to us, Mr. Jung— Qu... Queen, was it?”

“Quinn.”

“...Kin?”

“Y’know what? Kyuhyun. Call me Kyuhyun.”

“Ah, Kyuhyun. That’s easier. As I was saying, you can leave it to us. We’ll find out what happened. Just get some rest, I’m sure it’s been a long morning for you. We’ll contact you for more information when we need it.”

“Thank you, detective... that’s comforting, actually. I’ll let you know if I find anything that could be of use for the investigation— I’ll be cooperative, promise.”

“That’s good to hear. I’ll see you around.” Q gave the detective a nod, wiping his tears away one last time for show as he began to turn around, only stopped by the man’s voice as he spoke up once more. “Ah, Kyuhyun, actually— I’m terribly sorry, but would you mind giving a short statement for the public while you’re here?”

Q turned back around then, a sad smile etched into his features. “Of course, detective.”

There’s a weird sales dip that happens with Bendis titles - they start off strong, but we see a taill off from about the 5th issue then preorders jump up again by the tenth - normally as Bendis’s long view plans start to coalesce - or it could be it takes that long for news to spread to his less frequent store visitor fan base.. who knows - but YJ preorders are on the climb as are his Super titles..

A detailed (ish) breakdown of TARDIS AU (Part 2/2).

This post is going to be talking about the rough timeline of the TARDIS au in an attempt to make more people comfortable with interacting. If you haven’t already, please read part 1 of this AU breakdown, as certain things will make so much more sense.

NOTE: This isn’t necessarily set in stone, even now. The timeline is subject to change pretty much whenever we feel like changing it.

THE TIMELINE

The Adventurer picks up Louisa and Poe, starting this whole series of adventures. They go on a couple of trips with just the three of them.

Captain F. Scott Fitzgerald stows away on the TARDIS and eventually becomes a fixed member of the crew.

Very soon after picking Scott up, the crew runs into Tetcho and Jono for the first time. They continue to run into Tetcho and Jono for a while. Sometimes, however, the person coming to intercept Scott is Steinbeck.

They meet Lovecraft for the first time. They keep meeting him scattered throughout all these points.

The first incident with the Cybermen happens. This is the Adventurer’s first meeting with Edogawa Ranpo.

The Adventurer goes forward in time to pick Ranpo up when he’s older.

Somewhere along the line, Scott fucks up so badly that he gets kicked out of the TARDIS and stranded somewhere without his vortex manipulator and subsequently found by the time agents. He gets saved by the Adventurer and co., but not before he has to go through a few days of captivity with the time agency.

Ranpo begins getting himself captured by the time agents as an excuse to hold Tetcho and Jono’s hands.

Gin, Tachihara, Tetcho, and Jono do a few odd missions with the TARDIS crew. Ranpo begins leaving sticky notes for Mushitaro to find.

Lucy starts existing after the crew visits a planet that’s constantly at war.

Aku, Ayatsuji, and Q are still in their fucking cells.

The TARDIS crew have their first encounter with the Fool when he fucks everything up monumentally. They end up winning and saving the two girls he’s holding captive (Teruko and Scottie).

The time agents become fixed members of the crew. Ranpo still holds Tetcho and Jono’s hands.

Margaret is pulled onto the crew.

After just a few adventures together, Margaret accidentally becomes half timelord and creates Mitchy, a half-human regeneration of the Adventurer. 

The Adventurer travels to the future while everyone is distracted and drops Mitchy and Margaret off at a certain point in time. Margaret has her memories of anything related to the TARDIS wiped.

Twain, despite being in a relationship with Louisa, Poe, and Scott, finds out that one day he’ll end up married to Lovecraft.

Eventually, after a few more adventures and good times, Twain drops the mortal crew off at the same time he had dropped Mitchy and Margaret off (though, naturally, Margaret was dropped out of sight from them). He gives them each very long goodbyes and then explains that a version of him from the past is going to drop a human regeneration of him (Mitchy) there to stay with them.

Gin and Tachihara reform the time agency, making it better for everyone who works there and more humane to its prisoners.

Akutagawa and Kyusaku are released from the prison (bet you forgot about them huh?), but Ayatsuji has to stay. They find a solution for him, though, and put him in a practically identical clone of himself that’s made of the same thing Rory and the roman soldiers were in the original show. They go to live live peacefully together.

On Earth, Mitchy, Scott, Poe, and Louisa get married after working out some issues between the three of them and Mitchy. They found the Time Agency in the 21st century, all 4 of them going by the name of Natsume.

The Immortal crew continues to wander the universe in search of trouble to fix. Lovecraft and Twain get married eventually.
