A More Serious Post: Evacuation Kits / Go-Bags.
Everyone should have a go-bag that they've prepared over time in the event of an emergency. It should include:
- All documents including IDs, passports, social security cards, insurance information, medical records: vitally include any documentation of recent medical procedures, documentation of any current legal proceedings, etc (or copies of all of the above)
- Credit & Debit Cards, cash, etc
- Medications (and clean medical applicators like syringes and such. If it needs to be kept cooled, I've seen people reccomend that the bag be kept within a few steps of a kitchen or fridge to be accessible to coolers/ice packs)
- Clothing (Three days of clothing per person tends to be a fair assessment. Typically add in a coat no matter the weather and a mask of any kind)
- Three days of non-perishable food per person per day. If there is a baby involved, include formula (EVEN if they are breastfed. Babies sometimes struggle to latch on when in stressful situations)
- Water. This rule of thumb is a gallon per living being per day for at least three days. Add an additional reusable water bottle for each being if possible.
- Animal/Pet Supplies (Pet food, collapsable litter box, backup litter in ziploc bags, poop bags, etc). Include Pet Medical Records if available
- First Aid Kit (which should be in your car anyway, but remember that you can't always take your car)
- Chargers for all devices
- Extra! Flashlight! Trust me on this one, you do not want to be relying on your phone. Preferably solar or battery powered but remember to add in extra batteries if it is the latter
- Basic Hygiene/Health Aid such as N95s, gloves, surgical masks, hand sanitizer, eye protection, saline, etc
THEN you add in sentimental items and valuables. Make sure you have thought about what items you own that you 100% could never ever live without and try to see if you can make sure they can be grabbed quickly if you are ever in an evacuation zone.
It is overwhelming and for a lot of people it takes time to curate this bag. You would much rather prefer to think about it now than panic in an emergency and forget something you can never find again.
Best of luck to all.

LA Wildfire Relief & Unhoused/Mutual Aid Donation Info 1/10/25
Hello friends, I've made a list of some of the many, many amazing grassroots organizations and mutual aid groups here in LA that are helping out with wildfire relief, advocacy for our unhoused communities, and advocacy for our firefighters—many of whom are incarcerated individuals making slave wages with no guarantee of continued employment once freed.
We've seen an incredible outpouring of volunteers in the last couple of days, but could still use all the help we can get. Even donating just a couple bucks or helping to spread the word is super super helpful!
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but I hope it provides a starting point for anyone who is looking to help out. Feel free to reblog and add more as needed, especially if there is an organization you want to highlight!
(Note: I'm including Instagram links for all of these orgs as things here in LA have been changing rapidly and that is where I have been able to find the most up-to-date information.)
💙 MUTUAL AID LOS ANGELES NETWORK (MALAN) is an online directory for mutual aid groups across the greater Los Angeles area. They've also been maintaining a massive spreadsheet of available resources for anyone affected by the fires, as well as information for volunteers.

💙 ANTI-RECIDIVISM COALITION works to end mass incarceration in California by empowering formerly and currently incarcerated people with a support network, reentry services, and opportunities to advocate for change. This includes the 800 or so incarcerated individuals who are currently fighting the wildfires here in LA with no guarantee of continued employment once freed.

So, a little bit of an update on Los Angeles Burning

The Pacific Palisades Fire is now at 11,800~ acres (the evacuation line is getting closer and closer to me in Encino, which is worrying.)
The Hurst Fire has grown to 700 acres.
The Eaton/Altadena fire is now at 10,600 acres.
And there was a super cool, super secret fourth fire (😒) in the Sepulveda Basin on Woodley Avenue. The Sepulveda Basin is a wildlife preserve, park, golf course spot, homeless area, etc. It was initially 75 acres, but has been contained into 30. It has not escaped from the Basin, which is good.
The images and information shared I got from the Watch Duty App, which monitors fires and things.
((I have reblogged this twice with updates and will continue to do so))

Do you think we are gonna get delays again because of the fire? We just got them back I can't go through that again
Hey anon.
I will actually be blocking anyone who complains the rookie season 8 (which isn’t even confirmed) or the rest of season 7 will be delayed due to the DEVASTATING fires in la right now.
I say this as someone who had to evacuate during the Ventura fire. Proceeded to move, and now is in evacuation warning due these fires. I say this as someone who loves this show with their entire heart. I do not care.
I care about where I will end up if I’m forced to evacuate. I care about the firefighters who are risking their lives. I care about the people losing their homes all over LA county. I care about the animals being displayed and pushed into cities. I care about the homeless communities losing their homes little they have!
You all spend your Tuesdays watching the rookie? I spent it watching the news that over took your favorite shows.

This doesn’t just go for the rookie fandom, it’s for the 9-1-1 fandom and SWAT fandom. I’ve seen way more then this comment

Have a bit of empathy! I get you love your shows but they are just shows! This is people’s lives.
“That’s how people cope” half of the people saying this don’t live in LA. YALL weren’t talking shit like this when other states are in states of emergencies. Just because most you see us as “Hollywood” and “Disneyland” there is so much more. Pls be kind! This is scary!

For those who may not be aware, half of LA is on fire right now. Thankfully we are pretty far from the biggest fires in Pacific Palisades, Sylmar, and Pasadena, but we do live right next to the Sepuveda Basin, which is prone to regular brush fires, and early yesterday morning we had quite a close call (what the media dubbed the Woodley Fire) — I stood there from my balcony half a mile away and watched this thing start as an ominous puff of black smoke to a full fledged 45-acre inferno. Luckily the winds were blowing away from us, because it could have easily thrown embers in our direction, and they were able to tamp it down fairly quickly, and now officials and monitoring the area to make sure no other flareups occur. But damn that was one terrifying hour in my life…

This picture doesn’t really do it justice but I just snapped it quickly for posterity while having a panic attack.
We also didn’t have power through this. Power went out around 6:30pm Tuesday and didn’t come back on until about 3am this morning. Sitting in the dark while the city burns around you is a harrowing, apocalyptic feeling….
Today, the winds have died down and it’s pretty quiet here but the air is unbreathable. Incinerated homes, buildings, cars, brush, and more is just hanging in the air and smells horrible… no doubt toxic. So that is another factor in this already immeasurable mess.
Still, we have been very lucky compared to others. I have at least one friend who lost their home in the Palisades. And there is a lot of bullshit commentary out there regarding celebrities and rich people but I would like to remind people that the majority of folks who have been affected by this are just regular folks like you and me. If you can, please consider donating to orgs like the Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, etc. Hopefully the worst is over and we can get these fires out and begin to rebuild….

I’m sorry?? What the fuck??? Does anyone making ‘eat the rich’/‘they deserve it’ comments and jokes about the LA fires have any empathy left at all??
People who know hurricane strength winds in the eastern part of the country should know how worrying these winds have been over the past few days, and they (the winds) were literally fanning the flames.
Here in the San Fernando Valley, the winds even had me stressing.
Not everyone who lives in the affected areas are rich. There are regular folk here too! Sylmar, where the Hurst fire is, is not a rich area. We’re all human beings here.
Additionally, the wildlife of the area are being heavily affected. Their ecosystems are burning.
Because of these fires, afterwards, we’ll most likely need to worry about mudslides next which can also be very destructive.
Also, regardless of people being rich or not, there are literal memories and livelihoods being destroyed. This is a tragedy. If your memories and livelihoods were destroyed in any way, you should know this pain.
I understand why you feel you may need to turn your anger towards us as something to laugh at for karma, but please.
Y’all should be ashamed for making those kinds of jokes.
