there's miles of land in front of us and we're dying with every step we take, we're dying with every breath we make and i'll fall in line...

a stranger's back is all i see, he's only a few feet in front of me and i'll look left and right sometimes but i'll fall in line...

no one looks up anymore, ’cause you might get a raindrop in your eye and heaven forbid they see you cry as we fall in line...

and about this time of every year, the line will go to the ocean pier and walk right off into the sea and then we fall asleep...

and as we near the end of land and our ocean graves are just beyond the sand, i ask myself the question, why i fall in line...

then out of the corner of my eye, i see a spaceship in the sky and hear a voice inside my head, follow me instead...

then the wages of war will start inside my head with my counterpart and the emotionless marchers will chant the phrase "this line's the only way”...

and then i start down the sand, my eyes are focused on the end of land but again, the voice inside my head says follow me instead...

take me up, seal the door, i don't want to march here anymore i realize that this line is dead so i'll follow you instead...

so then you put me back in my place, so i might start another day and once again, i will be in a march to the sea.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

#i often wonder about how many things would be considered classic or high art had they only received the marketing #how many short films that were made for class could have been the most powerful thing you'd ever seen? if you'd seen them?#“you know the greatest films of all time were never made” etc etc #but like. these works of art ARE being made. it's just enjoyed by a smaller audience with equal impact though #i think about this one furry i used to follow on insta who had the coolest worldbuilding ever. it's been years.#thought prompted by that sketch of nimona from ten years ago that was just for a character design #posted to the creator's tumblr and now it's nominated for best animated feature film at the oscars #and by the genuine emotional reaction a fan comic made me feel. how much work had gone into it. how beautiful it was to me.#idk what to tag this but i hope whoever needs to hear it does #writing #writer #fandom #fandom culture #artist

today on the train home the guy next to me was on his phone and at one point i saw him go on tumblr and he just had like. a normie dash. like it was all photography. of nature and architecture. he was using tumblr the way a heterosexual landscaper for rich people might use instagram. i actually had to watch his screen for a few seconds to be sure it really was tumblr because i was so taken aback by the content he was viewing. this is why algorithmless websites are so beautiful btw because i genuinely didn't know that this side of tumblr even existed. he didn't even so much as scroll past any text posts.

EDIT: look i'm not going to turn off reblogs but i cannot stress enough that THIS WASN'T A HIPSTER BLOG DASH IT WASN'T AN AESTHETIC BLOG DASH IT WAS THE MOST WILDLY GENERIC COLLECTION OF IMAGES YOU HAVE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE.
