I have been playing darkest dungeon 2 religiously since I got it and my favorite thing that happened in it involves the team I used to beat the ambition boss.

So on this team I had Barristan, Dismas, Audrey, and Junia. Junia was fun because she had natural eye and I was running her as a seraph with both consecrations so she was wracking up conviction and then blowing it all on huge judgments. Plus I gave her a +10% crit trinket. Anyway Junia was dating Audrey since around inn 2 I think, everyone else was chill with each other, we were doing great.

Then we roll up to exemplar at the end of region 4 and Audrey goes down. And Junia goes full freakin scorched earth on that thing until it is dead (which fair, doesn’t take too long because the fight was nearing its end anyway, but it’s the thought that counts). So Audrey is dead and we roll up to the inn where Sarmenti hops aboard for the mountain. Normally I’d dip at this point but we’d been doing really well up until everything went wrong so it’s like “hm. winnable?” especially because we could easily fit Sarmenti into this team comp.

So we roll with it and hit up the mountain. Relationships roll in. Junia has grabbed Sarmenti by the scruff and said “you are my friend now we’re having soft tacos later.” She’s also rebounded onto Dismas. In general tho the relationships are good and have good effects.

Cultists are easy, boss is not. Boss made me lose years of my life actually. Boss ended up killing Sarmenti and nearly killed everyone else. 

I swear to god that we only won because Junia, upon being faced with the thing behind the cultists that ended up killing her girlfriend, went resolute. She was not satisfied with just getting rid of the exemplar. Her vengeance was not complete until this avatar of the void itself was dead and gone. So she dug her heels in, gritted her teeth, and persevered. Dismas also dropped a big heal on her when it really mattered (everyone was done with losing people clearly, especially one of them who was there since the start)

So yeah our group of three held out and succeeded because of the grief-stricken wrath of a bisexual nun. Love wins even when it loses <3
