TDI Advice wanted!
Hi TD fans! I'm planning a rewrite of TDI, the cast will be 18 for in-universe reasons (think legal contracts, I'm not gonna be weird about them). I'm aiming to make it more realistic and in line with the 2007 aesthetic, i.e era appropriate lingo & references, mobile phones are rare, homophobia is a bigger concern etc, but I'm wondering how far I should take it?
In the end I'll write what I enjoy, but should I lean more heavily into the gritty side of reality TV both on and behind the screen, include more notable sexism, potential slurs and creepy behaviours etc? The point is for there to be believable drama in-universe and the topics planned all have some merit to be present. I have some hard lines I'll never cross (see last tags on the post for those curious) and I want people familiar with the themes to feel seen rather than exploited reading it.
At the end of the day the cast are just youngsters getting to know each other and themselves. I want to humanize them and write believable conflicts without demonizing anyone, it is intended as a character driven story after all. But I also want to know what others think would make for an enjoyable read/take on the show.
The cast will inevitably diverge from their canon counterparts, but I am unsure how to handle certain characters, an example being LeShawna. She's clearly based on a racist stereotype, but her personality, background and lingo are a huge part of her appeal and I'd rather portray her in a better light than change her from the ground up. If you have any pointers I can keep in mind for her or anyone else you think is often portrayed poorly in canon or fanon then please let me hear your takes! This goes for non-TDI castmates as well, even if they don't show up in the story I wanna know what people think does and doesn't work for them and their tropes/traits cause it might still be relevant!
#Td#Tdi#Total drama#Id love any opinions no matter how personal or miniscule. Even outside of fic writing I love hearing theories/analyses.#Also: I already have some things very strongly set in stone so I won't change this project to perfectly appease someone else's vision#Some charas will inevitably be OOC at points but I am using canon information and what we know from stuff like other seasons and their bios#-as my basis for most things. Because while I want to explore some unrelated topics I still want this to be the TD cast. Not my OCs.#That said there will be personal headcanons thrown in. But I hope they flow well with canon and don't stand out as a sore thumb.#Some HCs might replace canon traits but only if I think they were bad/random or underdeveloped.#And if you have songs you think fit the campers pls send them my way! Good character playlists really helps w getting into their headspace#While I am a huge IOTS fan I don't intend to reference it in my work. No gore or character deaths because that stuff is too impactful both-#-for the characters and for the show in-universe. It would derail everything which is what makes IOTS work but is unfitting here.#All TWs will be listed once I start writing. I'm happy to tag niche phobias/squicks/TWs as well so if you're interested in reading but-#-worry that something specific might be included then just ask! No matter how silly it might seem I've got you covered.#What I won't include: SA nor heavy sexism/racism. I might not touch racism much at all outside of beauty standards/racist tv tropes.#Any heavy topic included will be approached with a lot of care and consideration for those affected. There will be 0 shock value inclusions

whats worse, the roleplay side of tumblr or kinblr
the rpc by far. at least kinblr was filled with other fat delusional autistics that were mean, like if someone was insulting me i at least knew they were doing it bc they were jealous of my kinlist or something. the rpc has to be one of the most racist, ableist groups on tumblr ive seen. heavy on the racism.
#to put it into context i was never told on kinblr that people were demonizing me because i was ugly#i was however told that people hated my oc and thought he was annoying and demonized him bc he was fat and 'not conventionally attractive'#multiple times. despite him being nicer then 40% of the characters in the rpc#i had people sending me constant stuff about how i was faking my disabilities for attention or money or sympathy. i was getting anon hate#constantly. someone tried to frame me for proshipping because they were upset my character hooked up with my friends characteer before#theirs did. and that followed me for months and months after despite the three of our characters being IN a polycule#the thing is i think people think iots free game to make potshots at your characters weird traits for fun but i was very open about most of#my characters being heavily based off myself. ie: fat. autistic. strange. goth. brain damage. schizophrenic. etc#which hurt when they'd go after those parts of the characters.#id have people target specific triggers of mine and try to trigger my paranoia etc etc#and ontop of all that. im white#i have friends who have gone through so much worse in the rpc because they aren't. the racism is so fucking bad#im rambling#kinblr sucked ass but in a very like#'the special ed kids are fighting' kind of way. like 90% of the bad shit in kinblr was like#i got 'called out' for fakjing being jewish with no proof in the slightest bc they were a double and wanted me off the platform LOL#txt

i can’t think about skulduggery and his loneliness for hundreds of years after the horrific things he did & the people he hurt, and the way he was distanced from it all. All of it. and then valkyrie cain came along and he took her on as a partner & she became his best friend and suddenly there was purpose, and he had a best friend, and he Ruined her when he should have known better, and she became his entire reason for living. when skulduggery can’t eat and he can’t sleep and he has absolutely no end in sight for his life & Immortality is a curse but valkyrie cain brought mortality to his life. and then she left him for five years. and he had to sit in his house All day every day without her. when there are remnants of her everywhere, the way she had her seat positioned in his car, the things she left at his house, memories Of her for six years spread across town, her name being known by everyone. and she’s in another country, she’s just in his phone, he can text her and he can call her but she’s gone. Like how many times did he go to ask her to come on a case with him. how many times was he ON a case in his car and looked over to her seat to say something and then remembered she wasn’t there not like she HAS been for the past SIX YEARS EVERY SINGLE DAY. remember on st patricks day. And he’s just plagued by the mistakes he made. and how he has lost the only thing that made him human & mortal. Like.

Real innovation vs Silicon Valley nonsense
Tumblr media
This is the LAST DAY to get my bestselling solarpunk utopian novel THE LOST CAUSE (2023) as a $2.99, DRM-free ebook!
Tumblr media
If there was any area where we needed a lot of "innovation," it's in climate tech. We've already blown through numerous points-of-no-return for a habitable Earth, and the pace is accelerating.
Silicon Valley claims to be the epicenter of American innovation, but what passes for innovation in Silicon Valley is some combination of nonsense, climate-wrecking tech, and climate-wrecking nonsense tech. Forget Jeff Hammerbacher's lament about "the best minds of my generation thinking about how to make people click ads." Today's best-paid, best-trained technologists are enlisted to making boobytrapped IoT gadgets:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/05/24/record-scratch/#autoenshittification
Planet-destroying cryptocurrency scams:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/02/15/your-new-first-name/#that-dagger-tho
NFT frauds:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/02/06/crypto-copyright-%f0%9f%a4%a1%f0%9f%92%a9/
Or planet-destroying AI frauds:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/29/pay-no-attention/#to-the-little-man-behind-the-curtain
If that was the best "innovation" the human race had to offer, we'd be fucking doomed.
But – as Ryan Cooper writes for The American Prospect – there's a far more dynamic, consequential, useful and exciting innovation revolution underway, thanks to muscular public spending on climate tech:
https://prospect.org/environment/2024-05-30-green-energy-revolution-real-innovation/
The green energy revolution – funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act and the Science Act – is accomplishing amazing feats, which are barely registering amid the clamor of AI nonsense and other hype. I did an interview a while ago about my climate novel The Lost Cause and the interviewer wanted to know what role AI would play in resolving the climate emergency. I was momentarily speechless, then I said, "Well, I guess maybe all the energy used to train and operate models could make it much worse? What role do you think it could play?" The interviewer had no answer.
Here's brief tour of the revolution:
2023 saw 32GW of new solar energy come online in the USA (up 50% from 2022);
Wind increased from 118GW to 141GW;
Grid-scale batteries doubled in 2023 and will double again in 2024;
EV sales increased from 20,000 to 90,000/month.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/blog/2023/12/19/building-a-thriving-clean-energy-economy-in-2023-and-beyond/
The cost of clean energy is plummeting, and that's triggering other areas of innovation, like using "hot rocks" to replace fossil fuel heat (25% of overall US energy consumption):
https://rondo.com/products
Increasing our access to cheap, clean energy will require a lot of materials, and material production is very carbon intensive. Luckily, the existing supply of cheap, clean energy is fueling "green steel" production experiments:
https://www.wdam.com/2024/03/25/americas-1st-green-steel-plant-coming-perry-county-1b-federal-investment/
Cheap, clean energy also makes it possible to recover valuable minerals from aluminum production tailings, a process that doubles as site-remediation:
https://interestingengineering.com/innovation/toxic-red-mud-co2-free-iron
And while all this electrification is going to require grid upgrades, there's lots we can do with our existing grid, like power-line automation that increases capacity by 40%:
https://www.npr.org/2023/08/13/1187620367/power-grid-enhancing-technologies-climate-change
It's also going to require a lot of storage, which is why it's so exciting that we're figuring out how to turn decommissioned mines into giant batteries. During the day, excess renewable energy is channeled into raising rock-laden platforms to the top of the mine-shafts, and at night, these unspool, releasing energy that's fed into the high-availability power-lines that are already present at every mine-site:
https://www.euronews.com/green/2024/02/06/this-disused-mine-in-finland-is-being-turned-into-a-gravity-battery-to-store-renewable-ene
Why are we paying so much attention to Silicon Valley pump-and-dumps and ignoring all this incredible, potentially planet-saving, real innovation? Cooper cites a plausible explanation from the Apperceptive newsletter:
https://buttondown.email/apperceptive/archive/destructive-investing-and-the-siren-song-of/
Silicon Valley is the land of low-capital, low-labor growth. Software development requires fewer people than infrastructure and hard goods manufacturing, both to get started and to run as an ongoing operation. Silicon Valley is the place where you get rich without creating jobs. It's run by investors who hate the idea of paying people. That's why AI is so exciting for Silicon Valley types: it lets them fantasize about making humans obsolete. A company without employees is a company without labor issues, without messy co-determination fights, without any moral consideration for others. It's the natural progression for an industry that started by misclassifying the workers in its buildings as "contractors," and then graduated to pretending that millions of workers were actually "independent small businesses."
It's also the natural next step for an industry that hates workers so much that it will pretend that their work is being done by robots, and then outsource the labor itself to distant Indian call-centers (no wonder Indian techies joke that "AI" stands for "absent Indians"):
https://pluralistic.net/2024/05/17/fake-it-until-you-dont-make-it/#twenty-one-seconds
Contrast this with climate tech: this is a profoundly physical kind of technology. It is labor intensive. It is skilled. The workers who perform it have power, both because they are so far from their employers' direct oversight and because these fed-funded sectors are more likely to be unionized than Silicon Valley shops. Moreover, climate tech is capital intensive. All of those workers are out there moving stuff around: solar panels, wires, batteries.
Climate tech is infrastructural. As Deb Chachra writes in her must-read 2023 book How Infrastructure Works, infrastructure is a gift we give to our descendants. Infrastructure projects rarely pay for themselves during the lives of the people who decide to build them:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/10/17/care-work/#charismatic-megaprojects
Climate tech also produces gigantic, diffused, uncapturable benefits. The "social cost of carbon" is a measure that seeks to capture how much we all pay as polluters despoil our shared world. It includes the direct health impacts of burning fossil fuels, and the indirect costs of wildfires and extreme weather events. The "social savings" of climate tech are massive:
https://arstechnica.com/science/2024/05/climate-and-health-benefits-of-wind-and-solar-dwarf-all-subsidies/
For every MWh of renewable power produced, we save $100 in social carbon costs. That's $100 worth of people not sickening and dying from pollution, $100 worth of homes and habitats not burning down or disappearing under floodwaters. All told, US renewables have delivered $250,000,000,000 (one quarter of one trillion dollars) in social carbon savings over the past four years:
https://arstechnica.com/science/2024/05/climate-and-health-benefits-of-wind-and-solar-dwarf-all-subsidies/
In other words, climate tech is unselfish tech. It's a gift to the future and to the broad public. It shares its spoils with workers. It requires public action. By contrast, Silicon Valley is greedy tech that is relentlessly focused on the shortest-term returns that can be extracted with the least share going to labor. It also requires massive public investment, but it also totally committed to giving as little back to the public as is possible.
No wonder America's richest and most powerful people are lining up to endorse and fund Trump:
https://prospect.org/blogs-and-newsletters/tap/2024-05-30-democracy-deshmocracy-mega-financiers-flocking-to-trump/
Silicon Valley epitomizes Stafford Beer's motto that "the purpose of a system is what it does." If Silicon Valley produces nothing but planet-wrecking nonsense, grifty scams, and planet-wrecking, nonsensical scams, then these are all features of the tech sector, not bugs.
As Anil Dash writes:
Driving change requires us to make the machine want something else. If the purpose of a system is what it does, and we don’t like what it does, then we have to change the system.
https://www.anildash.com/2024/05/29/systems-the-purpose-of-a-system/
To give climate tech the attention, excitement, and political will it deserves, we need to recalibrate our understanding of the world. We need to have object permanence. We need to remember just how few people were actually using cryptocurrency during the bubble and apply that understanding to AI hype. Only 2% of Britons surveyed in a recent study use AI tools:
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c511x4g7x7jo
If we want our tech companies to do good, we have to understand that their ground state is to create planet-wrecking nonsense, grifty scams, and planet-wrecking, nonsensical scams. We need to make these companies small enough to fail, small enough to jail, and small enough to care:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/04/teach-me-how-to-shruggie/#kagi
We need to hold companies responsible, and we need to change the microeconomics of the board room, to make it easier for tech workers who want to do good to shout down the scammers, nonsense-peddlers and grifters:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/28/microincentives-and-enshittification/
Yesterday, a federal judge ruled that the FTC could hold Amazon executives personally liable for the decision to trick people into signing up for Prime, and for making the unsubscribe-from-Prime process into a Kafka-as-a-service nightmare:
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/05/amazon-execs-may-be-personally-liable-for-tricking-users-into-prime-sign-ups/
Imagine how powerful a precedent this could set. The Amazon employees who vociferously objected to their bosses' decision to make Prime as confusing as possible could have raised the objection that doing this could end up personally costing those bosses millions of dollars in fines:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/03/big-tech-cant-stop-telling-on-itself/
We need to make climate tech, not Big Tech, the center of our scrutiny and will. The climate emergency is so terrifying as to be nearly unponderable. Science fiction writers are increasingly being called upon to try to frame this incomprehensible risk in human terms. SF writer (and biologist) Peter Watts's conversation with evolutionary biologist Dan Brooks is an eye-opener:
https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/the-collapse-is-coming-will-humanity-adapt/
They draw a distinction between "sustainability" meaning "what kind of technological fixes can we come up with that will allow us to continue to do business as usual without paying a penalty for it?" and sustainability meaning, "what changes in behavior will allow us to save ourselves with the technology that is possible?"
Writing about the Watts/Brooks dialog for Naked Capitalism, Yves Smith invokes William Gibson's The Peripheral:
With everything stumbling deeper into a ditch of shit, history itself become a slaughterhouse, science had started popping. Not all at once, no one big heroic thing, but there were cleaner, cheaper energy sources, more effective ways to get carbon out of the air, new drugs that did what antibiotics had done before…. Ways to print food that required much less in the way of actual food to begin with. So everything, however deeply fucked in general, was lit increasingly by the new, by things that made people blink and sit up, but then the rest of it would just go on, deeper into the ditch. A progress accompanied by constant violence, he said, by sufferings unimaginable.
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2024/05/preparing-for-collapse-why-the-focus-on-climate-energy-sustainability-is-destructive.html
Gibson doesn't think this is likely, mind, and even if it's attainable, it will come amidst "unimaginable suffering."
But the universe of possible technologies is quite large. As Chachra points out in How Infrastructure Works, we could give every person on Earth a Canadian's energy budget (like an American's, but colder), by capturing a mere 0.4% of the solar radiation that reaches the Earth's surface every day. Doing this will require heroic amounts of material and labor, especially if we're going to do it without destroying the planet through material extraction and manufacturing.
These are the questions that we should be concerning ourselves with: what behavioral changes will allow us to realize cheap, abundant, green energy? What "innovations" will our society need to focus on the things we need, rather than the scams and nonsense that creates Silicon Valley fortunes?
How can we use planning, and solidarity, and codetermination to usher in the kind of tech that makes it possible for us to get through the climate bottleneck with as little death and destruction as possible? How can we use enforcement, discernment, and labor rights to thwart the enshittificatory impulses of Silicon Valley's biggest assholes?

They are death
Every single one of them, you know that
You were hired by your own uncle Chris McLean to be a intern at Total Drama, you would be something like a camp counselor! Your job was to check the campists
People said your uncle was a amazing guy, but you knew it was a lie, you never knew anyone more arrogant that him
Well, at least you have something to do at summer! And it would be fun see some drama...
Your job was to be a baby-sitter to resume, you were checking up and taking care of tennagers! People of your age! It was kinda fun but you were so tired of them
The nice thing is that they seemed to like you! Even Heather, but sometimes they were acting toward you(you thought that was weird cause it dind't make so many time you knew them)
It was going to have a challenger! Everyone was there except for Beth, you decided to look for her
In the florest you decided to worry, where is she? You heard a sound in the cave, as the beautiful curious you are, you got in
A bloody axe...
A lost arm...
Her body was bloody
She was dead.
SHE WAS DEAD!?
You wanted to throw up, the smell of blood...
You felt sick
You Chris and the interns, and they discover that a killer is in the island, what should we do!?
Chris had the idea of left the campers here
You tried to convice him other wise, but when you noticed you already in a boat leaving the island, you felt guilty, Chris made you leave them
Chris dind't left you because how would him explain this to your parents? Your Mother would kill him!
And when you came back home, he said to tell that you were in vacation...?
You passed the next months feeling guilty and sick, you wanted to throw up, and sometimes you really did it
You should had stayed, or at least try to convice Chris....
One day, Chris called you to go with him and two new interns to go back to the island and save them
You knew why Chris was doing that
He wanted to be the hero, that's it
But you decided to go, cause now it's time
Time to the truth, and let's be honest
You were afraid of the truth.

I was afraid, afraid to go anywhere in this island, i dind't wanted to do that, but at same time...
I was scared
I felt something in your shoulder, a hand
" Don't worry Y/n! We going to find them, i hope... "
Sierra was trying to comfort me, but i could look at her eyes and see that she knew the truth
" Amigos! Everything will be alright, but i hope we have everything to survive here, Chris dind't explain so well "
Alejandro was in Sierra's side while looking at the island and looking around, he was right, Chris dind't explained how would you guys find the others, does him even know how to walk around this island?
I don't think so

Hey eavee, first things first, English is not my first language so I apologize beforehand for any error that you may find in this. So, I was watching some yt videos about IOTS, and I instantly fell in love with the world that you created. I know about all the controversy and what-not but, I can't say that I don't want more about it. I was wondering if I could make a re-take of IOTS and maybe post it on yt, but I wanted your approval first. What do you say?
Hi!! uhh i just wanna say i really badly want to forget about IOTS and grow from the discrediting ive done-- i truly feel bad and guilty about it. It hasn't left my mind since and every time i think about it i only feel regret😭😭
i would really appreciate it if you didn't post about IOTS because i actually hate it together with the naive things i did and you know how internet people are sometimes so😓
i also would like to thank you for asking for my approval (something i should've done before💀) !! I don't know what else to say except for the fact I still am very sorry for everything!

This flowchart is put at the beginning of Liber Null, presumably put together by the Illuminates of Thanateros (the IOT at the bottom)- would you call this a relatively accurate analysis?
Tumblr media
Listen. I love the Liber Null. I love the chaotes. I love chaos magic, but graphs like this are why I'm writing a book.
This is a crock of horseshit. "Shamanism" in this context is a deeply ahistorical term. The idea that "witchcraft" and "sorcery" (what does this even refer to) are somehow separate from the rest of the historical lineage is wrote nonsense.
Hermeticism and Alchemy are not the same thing, they have a mutualistic relationship, but alchemy and hermeticism can both exist separately.
The Knights Templar did not predate hermeticism that is an insane thing to claim. Perfect Discourse alone predates them by 700 years. Sure Lazzarelli didn't translate Crater Hermetis until like 1550, but the Islamic world was going nuts with hermetic ideas all through the Golden age. Like where do you think Lazzarelli got the fucking manuscripts from.
The Rosicrucians were a splinter of the Freemasons.
The Bavarian Illuminati being on here makes sense but they're also a weird outlier. They were only pretending to be a magical organization and shouldn't really be considered one, but they're important to the OTO mythology.
I love the idea that the Golden Dawn is just Freemasonry + Illuminati. That's ridiculously reductive. The Dawn's whole thing is drawing from as many sources as possible with reckless abandon.
Where's Paracelsus? Where's Blavatsky? Where are the Spiritualists? Where are the Enlightenment Poet-Mystics? Where are the Christian Cabalists? This lists three different Freemason splinters but not a single mention of ancient Greek magic or Jewish mysticism. If Goetia gets an entry, Merkava/Hekhalot should get one, as should Kabbalah. If sufism gets an entry, so should Orphism and the neopythagoreans.
Where's Agrippa??? How're you gonna do a graph like this without Agrippa??

Probably lane, but the origin story of Uihoys blue feather? Uihoy boring Vic’tao with stories meant to teach him a lesson about his temper and impatience. I wonder what Uihoy was like in his younger days!!
An Elder and His War Stories
Pairings: Uihoy (Male Yautja) x Vic'tao (Male Yautja)
Word Count: 1559
Summary: Uihoy recounts the time he acquired the blue feather he usual sports. This shows he's not always the confident, sure footed male he would like everyone to think he is.
Author Note: Definity not lame! I promise you. Question's like these make me think, force me to worldbuilding and I love it. I have an app called Campfire that helps me keep everything in line.

Uihoy isn’t the mighty, always sure footed Yautja you all know about. The male has had his fair share of falls and accidents.
How else do you think he lost a finger and a half on his right hand? Not from a hunt. At least not in the way you are all thinking.
As his feather, that’s a fun story to dive into. It’s a recent feather he acquired too. On a solo hunt without either of his mates.
Perched in the high trees of Yautja Prime, Uihoy had returned to his home planet. It was a once in a blue moon situation for him to step upon these grounds again. Not like he left on bad terms. But, his home was with his mates. He held no emotional connection here anymore. Any of his brothers and sisters are spread among the planet and stars. None of them were close to each other. Nothing to kept him tethered here.
The reason the purple Yautja found himself here was for a hunt. Food was low in stock on the ship. For some reason, he was craving Boor that could only be found in three rivers close to his home village.
This leads him back to where he once grew up over seven hundred years ago. Usual for a Yautja to live to that age, even more so. Anything beyond a thousand is where things become unlikely. This is a species of hunters. Death is always high. Which, Uihoy shrugged about. Many of his siblings are gone, living with Cetanu in his hunting grounds. Even both of his parents are gone. Sire perishing to a hunt some hundred years ago. Dam losing her life to childbirth.
At this point, he had found himself perched high in the tallest tree in the area, enjoying the calm jungle. A biome designed, evolved not to let the weak survive.
His eyes fell close while he opened his other senses. The scent of everything that filled the area with life filled his lungs. Uihoy let his upper mandibles pull up, tongue flicking out between lethal teeth.
Nostalgia struck him in the gut.
All the memories of him learning how not to die first before learning the ways of a hunter. They flashed behind his closed eyelids, a reminder of his younger, dumb self. He’s had to master more than usual. It was something he was born filled with. Not like a few of siblings and those of the same year as him.
But in that tree, close to home, was an abode of something else.
A screeching cry jolted him from his thoughts. His eyes snapped open just in time to see a Iot-oci dive bombing him. The size of the bird was terrifying to say in the least. Being around seven and half feet tall himself, it was about little taller than his waist.
Before he knew it, his hand slipped from the slimmed trunk. Uihoy had no time to react. The Iot-oci was coming straight at him, bright colors and all. A male. It flared its wings right before it struck him with short talons to his chest.
Uihoy fell back with a yelp at the sudden shift of weight. His hands freely clawed through the air but found nothing to latch onto. The Iot-oci soared over him and took up into the sky. Probably to make the job was done.
Air rushed past him for a short moment until his back hit a thin branch. Said stick bent under his weight and didn’t catch him. Uihoy fell again. His body weight was shifted so he could twist around and face the incoming ground. One of his- “you fell?” Vic’tao rumbled, voice monotone. His exterior body language read as lax, unconcerned after hearing of his mate’s fall.
A deadpanned look fell over Uihoy’s features, directed at the yellow Yautja standing across the counter from him. “Yes, I fell. Damned thing came out of nowhere,” Uihoy argued for his pride.
Vic’tao chuffed a laugh and tried to stifle it with only working partially. “I’ve heard their wing beats are loud. How could you miss such a sound?” the younger male teased his older mate. Vic’tao has never stepped foot on Yautja Prime in all his years. He only knows of Iot-oci from pictures and videos.
The latter scoffed and pushed off of the counter he once leaned on. His arms were held out at his sides. “I was having a nostalgic moment!” Uihoy defended himself then rest his elbows back on the counter again. “Now, as I was saying-“
He reached out, flailing about for a branch to snatched. A few unlucky swipes later, Uihoy was able to dig his claws into a thick branch. The jolt of weight nearly pulled his arm out of its socket but he snarled and held on. Another screeching cry met his ears. Mighty curses fell from his jaw. Uihoy scrambled back onto the new perch and whipped his head up.
Through the suns piercing rays, Uihoy spotted the blue form of the Iot-oci diving for him once more. Once a few seconds to spare, he leaped to the side, a branch down.
Higher pitched calls scrambled his brain for a moment. He looked to his left only to be greeted with the sight of a large nest filled with five newly hatched Iot-oci. Paya, fuck him sideways! He couldn’t catch a break while back in his own nest grounds.
First thing that came to his mind was to desolate the place as quickly as possible. The Iot-oci will do its damned hardest to slaught Uihoy for being in the same tree as its offspring, let alone the same branch.
Claws tore at his back, knocking forward and back down to the ground. Uihoy cursed out as he slammed into a thicker branch towards the base of the tree. All of the air in his lungs was forcefully shoved, leaving him heaving for nitrogen. His nails dug into the bark two seconds too late. Once more, he fell his way back to the ground.
Face first, Uihoy slammed into the leaf covered jungle. A grunt surpassed his vocal cords. Desperately, he wanted nothing more than to lay there in defeat but the swooshing through the humid air prevented him the luxury. He rolled to the side and used the momentum to get to his feet and face the Iot-oci.
It had landed at the spot he once was and flared it large wings. Uihoy took a step back, it followed with two of its own to keep up. But he wasn’t going to kill it. It’s only protecting its nest from him. Not a worthy kill. It was against the honor code as well.
Carefully, he took mindful steps backwards until he felt a safe enough distance away from the tree. The Iot-oci followed him all the way but he read the way it grew weary of the gap spanning between it and its nest.
This was what Uihoy was wanting.
The Iot-oci will turn away to protect it nest. Males were smaller than females. They were the protector of the nest while the dam left to retrieve food and mark their territory. With the dam nowhere near, the male took back to the skies and head back to its nest. Uihoy breathed a sigh of relief and checked himself over for injuries.
Nothing was broken, bones at least. His skin had been sliced by the short but deadly claws of the Iot-oci. Small enough he could forget about.
As the purple male turned to leave, a flash of blue caught his attention. He gazed at the spot the Iot-oci once stood to find it left behind a feather. A short hum sounded from his vocal cords. Uihoy leaned over and claimed the feather as his now. He tucked it away in his belt for later and begun his trek further in towards one of the rivers for Boor.
“And that’s how I got my blue feather,” Uihoy finished and gave a minute bow to the male before him.
Vic’tao still looked bored then sat up in his high stool chair. His hands came together in a slow slap, mockingly congratulating Uihoy for his story. “Such a wonderful story, old man.”
“Oh, hush, young blood. You know nothing of the dangers. You’re mothership bred compared to a home world bred. You lived life with little danger.” The words sounded harsh, but it was just playful jester between the two of them.
“When the elder can’t even defend himself from a Iot-oci because he was ‘distracted’.” Vic’tao used his fingers to create quotation marks around the last word. One of his upper mandibles was lifted as he stared at his mate across him.
Uihoy groaned and leaned back. The counter used as an anchor point so he doesn’t fall back. “I told you it was nostalgic! I was reminiscing my time in my youth.” He reached across the counter to tap at Uihoy’s hand. “You should remember the time before your bones creak like mine.”
This got a huff from Vic’tao. Said male stood up and walked around the counter to stand next to his mate. As the taller of the two, he wrapped his arms around Uihoy’s torso. Vic’tao nuzzled his head into Uihoy’s cheek. “Mine already do.”

Au of an au cause I miss iots
Basically Chase's stupid ass thought it'd be a ⚡SICK⚡ idea to go to the abandoned summer camp wawanaka, also known as the set of the cancelled show Total Drama Island, for a YouTube video (cause he's a scumbag YouTuber💀)
So obviously he convinces (lies to) his girlfriend and their friends about exploring an island for a video (not saying it's the location of a gruesome massacre that took place 15 years prior) and they agree bc chase is a big ass liar
I was thinking this group would consist of Chase, Emma & Julia because they're influencers then balance them out with Bowie, Zee, Mk and possibly Damien.
So Team Influencer pulls up to the island with their ghost hunting equipment, Bowie Mk Julia & Damien are typical "Gah, ghost aren't real, stupid🙄", as they're exploring around and recording. Eventually at some point one of them (I was thinking Damien or Emma) stumbles across the skeletal remains of one of the murdered contestants and flips the fuck out on Chase. Then the others also start to flip out on Chase and how he could just lie to them and bring them to a massacre sight
-§ Now at this point of the au, I'm pretty split on what happens next cause it can go either or for me, but the same time, they can impact which way the tone of the au goes.
Basically, Chases emotionally immature self can't take the heat/slander and scurries his punk ass back to the boat they rented to come to the camp and just fucking ditches them cause he's selfish
Or he's just like "ok, ok, we'll leave!" And when they head back to the boat, it's not there anymore cause it wasnt anchored down cause Chase forgot
With Chase being there it could add a lot more tension and aggressive ghostly encounters Team Influencer experience because Chase reminds the wayward spirits of the egotistical and selfish man that left them to save his own ass.
With Chase being gone (which now writing this all out, is kinda the one I like more) the ghosts are a bit more passive (but still y'know still super scary and unintentionally menacing) bc they see Team Influencer as being abandoned by their "leader" like they were abandoned by Chris §-

I don’t get why people hate Duncan so much in the Island of the Slaughtered AU. Like, okay, sure, he was an asshole but he’s still a kid? It’s weird to me that there are people are saying the whole thing is his fault, because it’s obviously Chris’. Like it’s cool if you hate canon Duncan ‘cause he’s a cheating jackass, but IOTS Duncan was just a kid put in a situation that he didn’t know how to deal with. I don’t know any adult who would be able to think straight in that situation, much less a kid. I’m not defending his actions at all, but at the same time, I get it?
Also, if I see one more “”Joke”” about Duncan and/or the killer “taking advantage” of Courtney or Heather’s body, I’m gonna scream. How is SA funny to some people? How is that even in character for Duncan? I’m pretty sure the creator of even said it makes them uncomfortable, but people are still making jokes like that. It makes my skin crawl. None of this is an insult towards the creator of the AU, by the way.

IOTS: EVERYONE DIES AU - COUGHING CODY (TW DEATH, SUFFOCATION?)
Coughing Cody (I got the idea from this IOTS reversed au, check them out!): Cody was afraid. Afraid of the island, afraid of death, afraid of a serial killer, afraid of losing his sanity all alone. The only ones left were him, Gwen, Eva and Katie. He stuck to them like spitballs in a school outcast's hair. He never let himself get separated from the group. He still felt the lingering claws of guilt for letting so many people die. He knew he wasn't at fault, heck, he was only 16, but he still felt responsible.
But you can't stick together forever. Not unless you're Owen or Geoff. So eventually, Cody got lost. Very lost.
Someone yanked his hair from behind.
His brain almost forgot he was inhabiting a human body when he was thrown into the shed. His bones vibrated under his skin. Panic started up his throat.
The room starts to smell strangely. At first, it's manageable. But then it stings, and his lungs begin to fill with something toxic and awful. He coughs. It's leathery and thick. It doesn't get any better. His throat stabs, his chest begins to heave, and his breathing gets more and more shallow until he literally can't think anymore, he just needs air. Please, please, can he breathe?
Cody's body is never found, but the others can guess what happened based off the awful smell coming from the locked shed.

@wolfstarmicrofic March 2 – prompt 2: Rictusempra – word count 967
Rictusempra - Disarms an opponent by tickling them
“You… You… You… Id…iot.”
Now, normally Remus would have used way worse insults for that particular situation, but he was laughing so much that that was all he could manage to say out loud.
It had all started, as always, because Sirius was bored. James was at Quidditch practice, Peter had disappeared somewhere with Madeline from Ravenclaw and Remus knew he should have gone to the library to do his homework, but he had instead decided to work on it in the dorm, thinking that maybe his presence would convince Sirius he had to revise Charms as well. At first it had seemed to work, Sirius had joined Remus on his bed, asking to see his notes on some spells and practicing them in silence. And then, Remus had been too concentrated on re-reading a particularly complicated charm to notice Sirius had put down his book and was pointing his wand at the parchments neatly piled between the two of them. The spell had only been murmured but the papers had immediately raised in an elegant spiral before scattering all around the dorm.
“Sirius!”
“What?” Sirius had grinned. “I’m practicing!”
“My notes!”
“You know them all by heart Moony, you don’t need them.”
Remus had taken a deep breath before diving for his own wand.
“You’re right, I think I do,” he had said before muttering something that had immediately turned Sirius’s long dark hair blonde.
“Take it back!” Sirius had shrieked.
“What, you don’t like your new look?” Remus had laughed before a magically conjured pillow had hit him in the face.
“I won’t be caught dead looking like Narcissa’s fiancé!”
Sirius had managed to turn his hair back to its original colour, but then there had been a mini tornado which had made the dorm even messier than before, a strangling quilt, the Snitch James preciously kept on his bedside table had hit Sirius in the back of the head, Remus’s legs had decided they wanted to dance a frantic can-can, Sirius had been ambushed by five chocolate frogs, a book had kept nudging Remus off the bed and Sirius’s broom had kept slapping him across the face every time he had tried another spell. And then, disaster. Panting and disheveled, they had pointed their wands at each other in the same instant, shouting:
“Rictusempra!”
That had been it. They had been laughing uncontrollably for at least ten minutes now, none of them able to string enough letters together to say the counterspell. As he rolled on the quilt, hands pressed on his stomach, Remus hoped one of the others would come back soon and help them. By his side, Sirius was almost folded in half, tears at the corners of his eyes.
“Help,” he laughed as he finally fell on his face on Remus’s shoulder.
Somewhere under all the laughter and his sides starting to hurt, Remus still felt his heart give that familiar jolt of panic combined with happiness he had every time Sirius was too close to him.
“Gonna… die,” he managed to mutter, not sure if he meant of laughter or just of Sirius Black being pressed against him on a bed of all places.
“Need… get… up,” Sirius wheezed, trying to push himself up but falling again against Remus, his face now in the crook of his neck.
Remus groaned and did his best to push Sirius off him, only resulting in them laughing in each other’s faces, the tiniest space ever separating them.
“Idi… ot,” Remus sobbed with laughter again.
Sirius had both arms around Remus’s neck now and still wasn’t managing to push himself up. Remus was starting to think that if James or Peter didn’t walk in soon he would really die this time, when Sirius fell back once again. Remus closed his eyes, bracing for the impact, but it never came. Instead, he felt Sirius’s mouth, trembling with laughter, against his. The spell made him laugh again while he caught Sirius’s lips in his. He felt as if his brain had stopped working as their mouths clashed together while his arms shot up around Sirius’s back because everything was so ridiculous, and they should have focused on trying to utter the counter-spell and he would be damned if he didn’t cling to Sirius Black’s lips with all he had in him. He was almost gasping for air when Sirius cupped his cheek and pulled himself up just enough Remus could look at him without squinting.
“We… stopped laughing,” Remus said before groaning at the fact that of all things he could have said, that was what his brain had come up with.
“Emergency countermeasure,” Sirius smiled. “I figured if we didn’t have enough air to breathe the spell would annul itself.”
Remus’s heart dropped.
“You… Knew it would work by kissing?” he forced himself to say.
“I hoped it would.”
Remus let go of Sirius’s back and nodded. Sirius fucking Black. Didn’t make the effort to study, still bloody brilliant at magic. If just he could have been that brilliant somewhere far away so that Remus could have a breakdown in peace now. But Sirius didn’t move.
“Are you waiting for me to tell you you don’t have to revise Charms anymore?”
“I’m waiting for you to tell me if this is okay,” Sirius said softly.
“You being a smartass? If it wasn’t we wouldn’t have been friends for so long.”
“No. This.”
Sirius got closer again, the hand not cupping Remus’s cheek now trailing his lips.
“There’s no need for a counter-spell now, Moony,” Sirius said softly. “Is this okay?”
Remus’s brain stopped working again as he wrapped his arms back around Sirius’s waist and moved him even closer.
“Yes,” he breathed, half a second before there was no space between their mouths again.

Unpopular Opinion: Island of the Slaughtered doesn't make much sense to me honestly... I don't hate it, but the serial killer wouldn't last a day after there's revealed to be one on the island... Because Chef is a psycho that probably went to war and would snap the killer like a twig... Or Chef and Chris would get guns and shoot the killer down... Also, some of the contestants are strong enough to take down wild animals... The killer wouldn't stand a chance against their combined forces... Plus in canon, Chris and Chef did try to save Gwen from a killer (and Gwen defeated the killer)! XD
Island of the Slaughtered was actually what initially drew me back in to Total Drama as a whole, which is ironic because the AU itself kind of got overshadowed by the source material for me.
I like the concept, and the execution is really good too, but I haven't really interacted with the AU at all besides following the Tiktok uploads when they dropped last year. So please excuse me if anything I say here is inaccurate.
But I'm fairly certain that a pivotal plot point of the AU itself is the fact that both Chris and Chef abandon the campers on the island at the first sign of foul play; Chef wouldn't be there to fight off the killer. And that's not exactly out of character for them either- both Chris and Chef are shown throughout canon to not care for the safety and wellbeing of the contestants, and the two of them would believably prioritise their own wellbeing over the campers' survival.
And as far as the strong contestants go, the only characters in Island who would really stand a chance against an active serial killer would be the likes of Eva, Izzy and maybe Duncan- who all survive the massacre because the killer never targets them. I don't know if that's a sign of intelligence on the killer's part or pure coincidence, but it's true nonetheless.
Courtney later shows off her physical prowess in Action, but throughout Island there's nothing to indicate that she could take on a serial killer alone. Since the AU is based in the canon of Island, she doesn't count as a "strong" camper. In the same vein, DJ is very strong, but he's also a 'gentle giant' who's hesitant to cause physical harm to anyone- he wouldn't have the courage to confront the killer.
In the AU itself, the killer works more as an ambush predator than your stereotypical "hunt and kill" murderer; the only time a contestant is ever killed is when they stray from the pack. A huge aspect of this AU is "safety in numbers", the only time someone ever dies is when they're alone and/or in a vulnerable position. This implies that the killer themself is never too far away from the cast; they're always watching, hidden in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to pick off the weakest links as they stray too far from the safety of their group.
Would it have made more sense for the group to attack the killer as a united front (allowing the likes of Eva, Izzy and Duncan to subdue/kill them in turn)? Probably. But at the end of the day, these are frightened teenagers- they're not going to think logically when they're being hunted for sport. They're going to follow the safest route of their continued survival, which in this case is remaining together as a tight knit group and waiting to be rescued from the island.
I, personally, think the plot of the AU makes a lot of sense when you consider the above factors. And, of course, because it's a Horror AU- you'd need to suspend a lot of the cartoon logic to make it somewhat believable, which includes the fact that Gwen canonically 'takes down' the real killer by insulting him. That kind of stuff wouldn't fit the tone of the IotS AU.
Not that I'm saying you have to like it. You're entitled to your opinion! This is just how I understand the AU.
