I know everyone is wondering what happened with the plagiarism plotline on Battle of the Writers. Still, my brain delightfully ignored it and completely focused on another part of the story.
They have met before. We don't know how they know each other but Ob-un doesn't remember (hello Lovely Writer vibes - including a somewhat obsessed love interest!).
To start with, I get the sense that they wrote about each other, but that Ob-un doesn't remember or recognize Shan (hence, plagiarism).
We don't know what Shan's trauma with darkness is, what happened to him, but…
Theory time: Whatever happened to Shan, Ob-un was involved and he helped him in some way. The telling of a story to each other was probably part of it.
We have a creeper in black that shows up more than once on every episode (threatening call, filming Ob-un outside the hotel, erasing the face of Ob-un in pictures… I also have my suspicions that he's one of the clients Ob-un delivered to on the first episode - aggressive + black clothes and a mask).
Tinhat section: The creeper in black might have something to do with Shan's trauma. Ob-un might have interfered, and that's why the creep hates and is obsessed with him.
How can you tell someone is there, in the darkness?
Oh! My Assistant is just a giant gay thirst trap about a man who draws het porn but thinks the man he's hiring as his assistant is literally the hottest person ever and ends up hiring someone that literally can't do anything he needs because he got a boner and I am dying.
Oh and the assistant has been in love with him for ages before this? Be still my beating heart, I love this. AND the most handsome model man is so insecure about idea of the artist being straight?! Love it deeply. Here for it.
something about Hephaestus saying "you're a good kid, Annabeth" really stands out to me. he didn't point out the very obvious about her, like her intellect and interest in his creations, or her hubris in thinking she could dismantle the chair. he said that she's a good kid. because Hephaestus was mistreated by the gods. because Annabeth was shunned by Athena. because he believes that gods shouldn't treat their own children like that and he wants to be better. because he knows how much it means to a little girl who's fought for approval from her own mother her whole life, whose father neglected her. because he wants to break the cycle. don't touch me
once again thinking about jason as duke’s robin. he’s ~4 years younger than jason, and that puts him at 8-12 during Jason’s time as robin. that’s prime time to get attached to your local kid vigilante before your own life goes downhill.
and if we try to keep duke’s meeting with bruce in zero year + duke’s age (so he can remember the meeting and hold that conversation with bruce), he has to be around 8. if he starts following batman through the news at that time because of the mess that just happened, the robin he sees is probably jason. I’ve literally connected the dots
Rising from the dead to share this painting and then disappear again
I have spent over 90 hours of my life on this thing because I have had the brain rot for the last 2 years of my life (almost 20 if you count when I first read the comics) and it had to express itself somehow
Hope this dramatic bitch feels appreciated
(A Dream of Morpheus, handmade egg tempera on panel, 12x18 inches...if by any chance you'll be at SDCC or Gen Con, I'll be at booth 934/936 at the first one and Art Show #13 at the second one - come see the original, maybe get a print, or just yell/cry about Sandman with me?)
And here, have some more details - I had fun combining some favorite elements from both the comic and the show ♡
