This is all I can muster for my own birthday art and TECHNICALLY ITS NOT MY BIRTHDAY ANYMORE BUT HERE WE DO BE CELEBRATING!!!!

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.

His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).

Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

The term "rewired my brain" gets thrown around a lot but the DSMP truly did change the way I think about characters media and narrative forever and in a drastic way like I had never really delved so deep into analysis of a character and what they represent as well as them as a person just for fun before, and I had never heard so many deep complex interpretations of the same character/event all of which had their own merit.

And also with the DSMP so much of the characterization was extremely subtle and so you had to be taking note of every little detail to get it all and that made me much more inclined to focus on ALL parts of a character not just the most obvious ones.

Idk tl;Dr the DSMP permanently altered the way I think about fandom for the better

Thanks so much for asking first of all. I’ve been thinking about this a whole lot (even before I drew the first plushie here) and I think I’ve finally decided that at least for now, I won’t be taking submissions for plushie ratings. Without getting too serious, the main reason is that I’m afraid that it will stop feeling as fun as it does now. I also really enjoy how happy people seem to be when they see a surprise rating that they weren’t expecting, which would happen much less often if I was spending time drawing submissions, too. I really hope that everyone understands

i know a lot of people have said it already but it does kinda suck that the only thing you actually gain from recruiting minthara is minthara herself. the obvious way to get her (siding with the goblins) locks you out of three companions (karlach, wyll, halsin), all the tiefling refugee npcs and their associated quests, and a whole quest related to halsin in act 2. and there's nothing to make up for it, you just have less things to experience now

even if you're not doing a necessarily 'evil' playthrough, like i am, and you don't choose sides and moved on to the creche (which i did, because it made sense for my character to want to get there as soon as possible), you still lose most of the same things. functionally, aside from keeping karlach and wyll, you get pretty much the same result as you would personally slaughtering a whole bunch of refugees

i found you because of aa but your art is what made me give aitsf a second chance (i like it a lot but some things also turned me off from it so im happy i did give it another shot)!!! keep drawing whatever you want whenever you want, its so much more fun and interesting to see you make things that make you happy than just appeasing people who want stuff for things they like and nothing else

im really happy to hear that!! aitsf is definitely a harder sell for some people due to the Variety of Issues which is why i dont try to recommend it as much as i recommend zero escape (even if aitsf is my Favorite game) but im thrilled that you have it another shot ^_^ !
