I wanted the culmination of this project for me to be pretend screenshots of some interactions with Hambone, visual novel style. I scripted a handful of things, which I'll be posting in batches! If I were a truly ambitious person I would've made this animated or playable but,
I am not. :)

I just watched The Menu (because I am culturally behind, always).
I came in already knowing people were going to die - being culturally behind comes with spoilers, after all. So for me, the most intriguing and telling part of the movie came about four minutes in: we are presented with a rich asshole, who, given a fancy oyster dish, tells our protagonist that the plain oyster wouldn't be as good without the "mouthfeel of the mignonette".
And I need to know if the writers did this on purpose. Here we have the only character on this boat who is a willing customer in a meal where he knows everyone will die. He knows that the moment he stepped on this boat his death and those around him is inevitable once the food runs out.
And the food the writers choose to highlight which, for him, takes this meal beyond a pedestrian experience? It's a sauce that just so happens to share the name of a ship. A ship that FAMOUSLY was wrecked, leading to a case of murder in order to commit cannibalism amongst survivors.
He knows he's going to die, he knows that he is participating in a gory, immoral meal of death, he is deliberately bringing someone to their death, and he fucking namedrops the HMS Mignonette when he says how special and unique this experience is and I just cannot believe this was an accident. If it wasn't deliberate foreshadowing then what the heck, but if it was this genius writing move then why can't I find anybody else talking about it??? I'm losing it.

the fucking insane and inscrutable rituals my dad and I just had to perform to save my TV from its own bad software update to the point that it looked like a complete hardware breakdown. may whoever decided that TVs should need internet access to regularly update itself lest you end up in a 'oh so you won't have 'download new updates automatically' enabled? well well... that's your own choice of course... but........ be a shame if something............ unfortunate were to... happen...... because of that choice... hehe old papa LGTV just worries about you, y'know. as your good friend and pal. just hate to think of you unhappy like that because you wouldn't allow one such simple thing... something so easy to remedy....' mafia-esque situation step upon an unbroken path of legos for the rest of their fucking life

i finally came across a horror game that emulates the "old vhs" aesthetic perfectly, and i know this not because of the visual effects but because i CAN hear it. this horrible, high-pitched sound that old box tvs make when they're turned on i hate it

related to my recent post about why ~atmospheric liquid DNB~ is such a big saturated thing on youtube now, I noticed a new trend of people uploading Wii / DS menu music mixes with the headline 'frutiger aero' that get instant thousand likes and such.... first of all who the hell comes up with these names, and also people been doing these mixes for years just under the 'relaxing VGM for studying' headline cause I mean that's pretty much what it is. and the influence for a lot of that chill nonlinear music can go back to 80's Japanese lounge and some new age. but since we are such a tag centric society now those don't matter as much or not as cool anymore. but anyways the explanation for this one was obvious and that is cause The Guardian has an article about this uh micro aesthetic or w/e. and for those that were actually growing up in mid 2000's we were not optimistic about anything anymore lol but I get it any time before now seems like it was better. I'll be happy at least if this trend gets big enough to make companies stop using that ugly flat brush Doug people look. anyway I've been at it with my own Relaxing VGM playlist for a decade now of tracks I heard already from these fruity tiger people mixes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuuPtpz2AigCbCN7Cl99gm1zxc1ZxjM1q

why do so many people in amazon reviews want product instructions spelled out with words. most of the time when I see these complaints, adding text to the illustrated instructions wouldn't add any additional clarity.
I get that some people might process information better in the form of text but there comes a point when a matter is so simple that reading any amount of words is more complicated than seeing a visual. like if a coffee table arrives as a tabletop with four pre-drilled holes and four screw on legs what the fuck are these people doing leaving a review saying "garbage instructions don't explain anything". like how did they even figure out how to buy things online.
though I guess these are probably just shit-stirring "this is america and everything should be written in american" types.

I want to know why Arby's markets itself as one of the best gluten-friendly fast food restaurants when they don't have a safe bread option. Yes, "we have the meats" rings true, but I'm not breaking into a steaming lump of fluffed beef and melted cheese in the parking lot.
