Maybe hot take? I think if Jegulus were a thing, Sirius would be upset but it would never be because omg James he’s my baby brother he’s innocent dont date him. It would be so much more fucked up.

It would be there was only one person I consider family who I thought would choose me over him, and it was you. It would be I don’t know how to love you both at the same time. It would be everyone lied to me. You, regulus, Remus. Everyone knew but me and I thought u were the one person in the world who would never make me feel that small. It would be you were the one thing i had that my family couldn’t take away.

It’s just GUT WRENCHING. Like, a lot of Sirius’ feelings would be self centered for sure. It all comes from a place of deep insecurity and trauma, but it would never just be ‘I’m a protective big brother’ superficial stuff. And it would all still be VALID. like yes James go get ur man, I’m happy for u separately, but it would not go down easy with ur bestie. Like, they’d get through it all eventually sure but it would tear them apart in the meantime. It would break some part of them forever, maybe.

I hope this didn’t sound disparaging on jegulus as a ship, I think they’re great I just think in like a canon situation or where the blacks are as bad as they are in canon, this is how it would go.

Remus would have to tell Barty and Evan that he's a werewolf and not only that he's a werewolf but the entire prank as a whole. SIRIUS BLACK:

• he would be by your side in an instant

• he'd comfort you by rubbing your back or playing with your hair while he ranted and rambled on

• he would go on about how much of a twit your ex is for being daft enough to let you go

• almost more upset about it than you

• he would also listen intently while you vented all of your feelings out

• he would be 100% on board with any ideas you might have, including burning all of your ex's things that they left in your dorm

• also would keep tour mind occupied by taking you to parties, including you in their pranks, etc

• he'd make it known to the rest of the school how much of a prat they were along with a few other demeaning details he may have slipped in

REMUS LUPIN:

• he would probably find you by accident, not even knowing what had happened yet

• he'd see you sulking or crying on the empty common room couch and sit beside you to figure out what happened

• after telling him what had happened his demeanor would immediately change

• he'd be lowkey raging but would do a pretty good job of not showing it on the outside

• he would try to comfort you to the best of his ability by telling you things like "you're far too good for them, anyway" and throwing around passive agressive comments in their direction

• he'd hold you in silence for as long as you needed, just being there for you without overwhelming you or making you upset again

• he would be loke 20x more protective of you for the next few months tho

• he would also definitely make your ex the target of their next biggest prank

PETER PETTIGREW:

• you would probably go find him right after it happened because peter is the BEST listener

• he would immedately drop whatever he was doing to focus all of his attention on you

• he'd sit with you and comfort you until you were ready to tell him what happened, and he would quietly listen as you explained it

• after you finished, he would console you (in a much more relaxed way than the others)

• "they weren't the one for you"

• "i know it doesn't seem like it, but it really is for the best"

• he wouldnt pity you or let you feel sorry for yourself, but instead try to logically help you feel better

• he would also avoid bringing your ex at all costs, shutting up anyone else who thought to bring them up

• he would then distract you the rest of the day with little activities and simple conversations to keep your mind off of it

• he would, however, definitely partake in subtle slandering of your ex, so long as you weren't around to hear it

REGULUS BLACK:

• regulus would have probably not trusted or disliked them since the beginning

• he also probably would have made it known

• so to say he was enraged when he found out what happened would be a massive understatement

• not at you, of course, but at the fact that he was right

• he would try to hide his anger at the whole situation around you but he would be pretty horrible at it

• he'd try to comfort you to the best of his ability by sitting with you, listening to your rants, and possibly placing a calming hand on your shoulder

• he would throw countless onsults at tour ex

• he would also do his best to say comforting things to you but everything would have a slight "i told you so" undertone

• only because he knows if you had listened to him you wouldnt be hurting right now

• he would stay with you as long as you need

• since he wasnt the best at comforting people he would instead do things like grab you things you needed so you didnt have to get out of bed (which was big for him), or read to you so that you would focus on his voice instead of the one in your head

• he would definitely hex your ex the next day tho

Since that “raising harry” ask came in, I cannot stop thinking about it. BUT one thing in particular: would sirius black have a job? (i haven’t read enough of these fics to see what people write him as doing???) and I have a few HC’s/options:

1. stay-at-home-dad sirius. So. uhm. yes. we fuck hard with this idea. I also want to add that I think James would’ve wanted to be a stay-at-home dad as well (”The healing program at st. mungos is just so intense,james, are you sure you’re okay stay home and doing all of that?” “did i just win the lottery?????”). So i think Sirius would’ve thought similarly, and in a way of honoring his best friend would’ve chosen to stay at home while Remus goes off and teaches.

But also, he’s loaded and he knows he doesn’t have to work. Sirius also loves cleaning and cooking. (I have a fic where he takes up home improvement and remodels the shit out of number 12 and tbh, that applies here too). He hates thinking about his future and any expectations, so Harry needing childcare and someone to take care of the home is ideal. Like Quidditch Dad Sirius coming in with the good snacks? School Fieldtrip Chaperone Sirius coming in with the good snacks and unbridled enthusiasm (*note: sirius would’ve been lenient  with the rules but inevitably would’ve just made whatever boring museum they were at sound SO COOL, the kids listened, even if he wanted to die inside). stay at home dad sirius. 

2. astronomy professor sirius. (or arithmancy, i can’t decide.). but I do think Sirius really loved astronomy (HC that he used to spend time with his Uncle looking at the stars and telling stories and that is the only reason he managed to not change his name entirely). And I also find it so cute to have Remus and Sirius both teaching at Hogwarts. Like professor boyfriends? Professor husbands? Grading papers together and going through assignments. Also, Sirius Black teaching teenagers because we know he would’ve found them hysterical (when harrys a teenager, he just laughs at what he says constantly) and would entertain all their thoughts/sometimes derail class for it just to make sure they felt heard.  “This assignment is so stupid. It’s going to take too long and we have other classes to worry about!” “It’s stupid? Really? Tell me more about this. Perhaps I can make it less, stupid.” or like...

“You only like this bullshit because you’re named after it.” “You are absolutely right. Its precisely because its bullshit that I like it so much.”

(also sirius black teenage whisperer. perpetually not phased by anything.)

3. wizarding council/politician/lawyer sirius. personally, I love this for him. We all know Sirius is smart, and we all know he has opinions on politics. In a lot of my universes, I HC that sirius would actually be great as a lawyer, if they have those in the HP world (I think his dinner tables as a child operated as business meetings and sweetie learned how to negotiate to be respected and also get his way). But because of that, he would fight hard against ever going into politics because of his last name and his creepy family and he wanted nothing to do with it. 

But he gets bent out of shape reading the news, or when he is called in for the wizengamot (its canon that the sacred 28 hold seats, no?) and comes home and vents to remus about due process and unfair trials and remus one day is just like:  “So...Harry’s going to be at hogwarts soon...and not at home...have you considered...doing something?” “Like what?” “Sirius, you get so upset every time you go to the ministry with all the...political agendas. You’re smart and you have the power to do something with that fancy last name of yours...have you considered--” “Being a politician?” “Examining career opportunities in the Department of Law Enforcement? Within the Wizarding Council. It might be a good fit.” (and sirius pushes back for YEARS until one day he reads the newspaper and impulsively decides to walk down to the ministry and see what the hell he can do and that’s how he ends up ((im just going to assume theres some kind of continuing ed for this)) registering for legal practioner courses) 

And if you don’t think sirius has a reputation as being the one to filibuster the shit out of everything that was going to be passed that he didn’t agree with, you are wrong. Sirius knows all the tricks, which he learned from being around his family, but also has an obscenely good heart and would definitely be the most annoying and brutal and successful lawyer/politician.

REMUS:

He walks in on you while you’re crying and he doesn’t know why you’re crying but he’s there for you

He runs over to you and you start crying harder just because you’re overwhelmed

And he’s scared that he’s the reason that you’re crying so he backs up 

But then you reach out for him and his heart shatters

He sits down next to you and lifts you into his lap

And you just sort of flop onto him and cry into his shoulder

He holds you and rubs your back

And he isn’t phased at all when you scream into his shoulder, he gets it

He runs his hands through your hair while you let off steam

At one point you slow down and he’s able to pull back enough to look at you

If his heart wasn’t completely broken when he found you

It sure is now

He looks at the tear stains down your face and tried to wipe the tears off of your face

But it’s useless because more are just flowing down your cheeks and he’s getting so sad bc if you cry he cries and he’s starting to tear up and he just wants you to feel better

But he also knows that too many questions and poking and prodding will only make it worse 

So he just sits with you and rests his cheek on your head until you’re able to calm down

And then if you’re ready to talk about it, he’s so ready

He also lowkey has that boyfriend feeling where he just wants to beat up whoever made you cry but he knows that violence isn’t always the answer Sirius

All in all, he doesn’t care that you vent differently from other people. He’s more concerned with if you’re okay and if you need him to do anything because have I mentioned that he’s also ready to do whatever you ask of him to help you feel better?

SIRIUS:

You’re in public when you receive bad news

(Fit it to your life, idk what’s going on but I wanted to do one in public since you mentioned that)

And Sirius has been around when you’re upset before

So when he sees that you’re not taking the news well

He grabs your arm and tries to move you into the bathrooms

But you can’t move

You’re frozen

So he just picks you up and carries you into the bathroom himself

He doesn’t even put you down once you’re in there

He holds you and whispers comforting words into your ear and just waits for when you’re ready

He’s been in that sort of situation before where you just gotta let everything out

He’s not one to judge

He knows that sometimes no one can do anything to shush you, and no one should do anything to shush you, you need to get everything off your chest to move on

He lets you scream as loud as you want and tells you that screaming always helps him

So he might even join you and have you scream as loud as humanly possible for as long as you need

And then once you’re tired from screaming

He pulls you back into his chest and plays with your hands a little

He sits with you until everything is out and then lets you rant to him about how awful the situation is

And he always says the right thing at the right time, he knows exactly how to sympathize with people

Because no one’s ever done it for him so he wants to do it for people so that he might feel what it’s like

And so all in all, Sirius doesn’t care that you express yourself in a unique way

Honestly, if you’ve both had a bad day

You just cry to each other

So not only does he accept and not judge, but he joins
