look i get bton has set up some seeds (ba dum tiss?) that polin will be the pairing in the Featherington Family to have a male heir first (and it's popular in the fandom as an endgame for them) and thus will inherit the estate but

consider the following:

they find out about it and go 'ahahahah NOPE' and thus become co-conspirators to get Pru or Phillipa preggo before them. because with inheriting the estate. . .what they really inherit is the debt. and neither of them are eager for that anytime soon

so one storyline is that they're on a mission to get Prudence there first so they're always out here making very thinly veiled insinuations at PruDank and make up excuses and schemes so they're alone with each other. and Colin and Penelope come together at the end of all their schemes like 'well. . .there goes Plan A. . .and B. . .and C through G' as Penelope frantically wonders if she can get Gen to pull Prudence aside and Colin is contemplating which of his brothers he can bribe enough to have the 'So, women have multiple holes' discussion w/' Albion because he refuses to be the one to do it

meanwhile, Portia is out here making potions to try to get one of her daughters to have a baby because thus far, she's batting 0 for 3, and Polin's schemes somehow always end up in direct opposition to her schemes, thus canceling out each time

dogbark, in both concept and execution, is just so interesting to me. i think the trailer they uploaded before they started making content regularly was a bad way to showcase their ideas of what they wanted to make for the channel, precisely because those ideas weren't solidified yet. and honestly, i believe the trailer becomes a bit worse the more the crew finds their footing in more recent content

personally, the trailer generally represents dogbark (and parts of achievement hunter before it ended, rip) with its weaker qualities. overly edited with jumpcuts and some louder, goofy-ass sound effects sprinkled in that makes it harder to focus on the video itself. outside that video, everything else on the channel that has someone saying a curse word is inexplicably bleeped out on their site and youtube. with the channel being newer, i don't know if they have a specific target audience in mind, since those that came from AH have long adapted to their crude humor, but they may not vibe with what dogbark does because it feels more childish in comparison. it's like watching someone go through an identity crisis with how the group don't know what they want to be lol

i stuck around beyond the initial video because i know these guys are funny, having watched AH for almost 9 years up until everything with matt went down. i think their chemistry is strongest with live action videos that have little to nothing to do with improv sketch comedy. i'm more than happy that they're seemingly focusing on that more in the last month. the gameplay videos also get better over time, but that's a given, seeing that that's what their previous jobs were. the dogbark boys aren't strangers to improv, with or without video games as a jumping off point. the problem is that they seem to be so inexperienced with this type of comedy they spent so much of the channel trailer focusing on

like, the improv content is the one thing that's stayed more or less the same since day 1, imo. the green screen improv videos i have found myself enjoying thoroughly are the ones that aren't exclusively michael, trevor, alfredo, and/or joe, weirdly enough. any other friend/rt employee with any combination of the dogbark boys feels more natural to me since they can explore more unique scenarios and have some new, fun dynamics to explore. with just the db crew themselves, it has the same energy as a high school improv group who just started taking classes. it's most likely fun to be a part of, but not necessarily fun to watch at a consistent rate

i wish i had more positive things to say about their other content that i do enjoy for a fairer opinion. however, the stuff i want to see more of like their podcast beyond episode 1 is first-exclusive (why???), which is bizarre for a new channel, but there's nothing i can do about it. that's why i come here to complain <3

Also, Astarion in a jumper! WITH THE CAT! So far away from scary Ascended, it melts my heart. And him being embarrassed over bargaining in on Rose taking a bath, so worried and willing to face her in case she got hurt again... Aww, is the only thing I can say.

I had a lot of visions for what this aftercare portion of the fic looks like, to be honest, but mostly it's just Astarion trying to rebuild his personality from the ground up and then trying to do it as quickly as possible so he can land himself a baddie lmfao. I don't know how well I'll pull it off, bc there's a lot of big things to unpack there that also, I don't think, make for a particularly interesting reading experience, so a lot of it happens off-screen. But for right now, I'm just grappling with an Astarion who feels bit weird about flirting, meanwhile Rosalie is like "he's not flirting with me? :( maybe he doesn't... like me :("

I wanted to give a little space for the acknowledgement that most of the companions have experienced more emotional and moral nuance than my Tav has in her entire life :')))

name: kimon tōya age: tbd. ( early to late 20s ) height: 6'8 race: japanese. species: half oni, half jaguar shifter. occupation: part time sparring with uncle kenta, but full time handling any paperwork that his family doesn't want to do themselves.

tōya has always been a rather off-putting child, wise beyond his years, a little more ( a lot ) aggressive than most, with energy in spades and ready to play chest or spill blood ( can't do it illegally, unfortunately, he pouts at this ). but the one thing his pops instilled in him was family, loyalty and a sense of self. papa ( fushimi / @nvrcmplt) was always larger than life and tōya trailed after him like the cub he was, soaking up everything there was to learn, but also learning that it was okay to lean on family, to treat others with kindness and to be wary over people who sought to doublecross you at the drop of a dime.

his parents, and uncles are his favorite people outside of his rowdy group of friends and though he does stray from home time to time, he always comes back because it's home. tōya is a sarcastic little shit with no respect for his elders ( outside of the family tho) and a love of video games, tradition and ( because of itachi ) mitarashi dango ( and kenta's snacks, yes he inherited 'tachi's love of stealing his uncle's snacks ). though he did not inherit his papa's horns, the mottling of his skin that does happen on occasion when he's lost his temper, and the feline aggression is definitely present. he's a protector through and through when he's not causing the most trouble.

sometimes it's easy to be lured in by his pretty smile, until he opens his mouth and makes you regret acknowledging him, but he makes friends fast ( even if he curses like a sailor and uneccesarily vulgar ). he's very business savvy and likes to take over meetings for both his pops ( who he sometimes calls mama for the hell of it, itachi never minds anyway ) and papa since he wants them to sit back and relax in their old adage and enjoy themselves.

like Lucio and Donna would never be able to work out even as friends in the long run because of Donna's moral code & friendship with Asra, hence why I needed a different OC for him. Donna was designed to be Lucio's foil in that I intentionally write Donna as having very similar attributes to him (the Venn diagram of their partners is essentially a circle and that's because on the surface they present themselves as fun, easy-going, and flirtatious people LMAO), but once you get deeper into their motivations & reactions to their own traumas, that's where they begin to be exact opposites of one another.

But S a m is all about selfishness, hedonism, doing what you need to live not just survive, and most importantly reinvention. He just. gets Lucio. He doesn't care about Lucio's past, doesn't want to know it unless Lucio ever feels the need to share, and truly only lives for him in the moment, in whatever way Lucio chooses to present himself to Sam, and the same feeling is reciprocated by Lucio. They don't care about the past or future: they care about now and making sure now feels good. Lucio is the exact opposite of Donna in that way: he doesn't care what Sam has done, doesn't want to know, because he himself has things he doesn't want Sam knowing lmfao

it was just a dark humor banter between them since their humor does get pretty dark when they're around each other BUT yeah elves are sentient beings and where Ollie is from in his orc community they did eat elf sometimes mainly as a treat as in if they successfully killed a stray elf or something bc of the whole "Elf vs Orc" thing going on over there where they were battling n ambushing eachother left and right (im sure Ollie's momma had to stuff baby Ollie in her War Bra™ for a long nap while she fought in a few battles bc she couldn't find a babysitter in time lmfao) but yeah in that area of the world it was pretty common for orcs to just fukkin eat an elf or even eachother bc i mean cmon they're orcs they can be brutish and harsh which is what Ollie grew up with. Ollie's been welding weapons of war since he was like 4, even killed a few elves as a child and ate some too bc well that's what ya did!! Despite being a lil runt half orc he still took after his momma where he would love to hunt and try to kill things to be "Big n Bad". In fact I feel like him and Ponti were honestly very similar as children which is why they were able to connect to each other so strongly after all the Drama was settled but like the skull in Nubbogs enclosure is an elf skull that Ollie harvested as a kid (spider warning) :

bUT ANYWAY my theory is basically since there are more carnivorous designed monsters in this world (ie. sharp teeth, eyesight, behaviors, Ponti is literally solely made from carnivore DNA, ect.) i feel like cannibalism and that of the sort is probably more common as a whole as opposed to our world where the only humanoids are well *us* and we're omnivores with plenty of food options so cannibalism Should Not be common if u get my drift??? Whether it be an act of survival that eventually turned into tradition with some of the monster species or what have you but in some parts of the world that's just how it is lmfao.
