I found this store full of just käärijä green things and so I decided to just draw Jere wear all of it at the same time x'D (except I didn't find a way to incorporate the dancer shirt so almost all :'D xD). It turned out working way too well not to make a sticker out of it so I'm sorry :'D

☆ 08 august, tuesday.
productive day! since it was my free day from work i finished this week's Google UX course x and went back to take some notes from the previous weeks.
also, very proud of me for finally finishing Section 3 of the Aalto university Finnish course! idk why i kept dragging it, this course was the first resource i started with finnish besides duolingo and i kinda abandoned it, so very glad i got to finish section 3 and do couple points of section 4. Feeling quite productive, may try to read some news in finnish too before going to bed. Lingq here i go.

i think while varis's main instrument is the violin, his go to instrument for downtime is the lyre
#talking abt my baldies gate character btw hfkfjdjf i think this is the first time ive mentioned his name on here#but yeah like the violin is HIS instrument but its like Serious for him hes dedicated his life to it#and i dont wanna get into the whole history but lets just say he did a lot to learn under a master and have opportunities#to play for audiences so that in addition to the fact he loves it makes him take it very seriously#so if he wants to just hang out i think hed play the lyre. and whatever i think is the truth i guess since im his creator right LMAO#just based on events and checks that happened during my playthrough i think even tho bc of the rules of the game#he can play all the available instruments his order of proficiency is violin > lyre > lute > flute > drum#wahhhh i have so many drawing ideas but im already drawing something and as always every piece takes me forever#also i was having a bit of a crisis earlier bc yknow varis is a word in finnish and i only now remembered that#names and nouns have different rules for conjugation even if theyre the same word#but then i was like did i fucking make that up bc would you rlly not just say säteen for säde for example#but then is that different bc of the d omg i just dont know

going to start an extreme long con where i learn finnish and become conversationally proficient over the course of years and years. just so i can go insane and start writing a million roope/miro fics without feeling like im mischaracterizing them.

Donut's armor color in RvB made me think about how even color is a cultural thing and thus we view color differently in different languages. Finland is a western country so we don't really have a unique way of viewing color compared to western English speaking countries but I've been thinking about the Finnish and English words for pink.
Anyway, I did laugh at the gag about lightish red the first time it appeared in RvB but it's been also bothering me because I've kept thinking that light red would actually pretty accurately describe Donut's armor color, because how the color is called in Finnish. Though the colors change anyway between seasons depending on what Halo game they're using (Grif's armor goes from a very yellowish orange to a bright orange) and in the newer seasons Donut's armor is bright pink.
Anyway this just now made me research "light red", "pink", "vaaleanpunainen" and "pinkki". To me pinkki and vaaleanpunainen are different colors and I've now found out what the differense between pink and light red is which btw is something like this:
So yeah Donut, it's pink.
I'm a bit surprised though how badly all of these words translate. Vaaleanpunainen translates to pink and so does pinkki, which is a loan word obviously. But vaaleanpunainen literally means light red but you can't translate it like that because vaaleanpunainen translates to pinkki. And if you asked me to tell what the colors above are called in Finnish I wouldn't call either of them pinkki. Maybe vaaleanpunainen ja vaalea punainen? (lightish red would be vaaleahko punainen btw).
I don't really have a point with this, i just think that it's interesting how the word pink in English means this really light color but the loanword pinkki means a really bright pink (lots of search results I found for pinkki are actually magenta).

#vent? i guesssss?#just as i was about to vent about how im not sure if me and my gf are compatible in the long run#she writes me (and i didn't say anything to her) that she wants to change and work on herself and that she loves me#what do i do lol#anyways i just find it really hard to talk about myself with her#i can listen to her just fine. she always seems to have something to tell me about her day or her troubles#but when i share something i often don't get the feedback i need#and i wonder if it's a problem with my expectations or with her not understanding me#latest case. i told her that i want to learn another language#i asked what language should i try. she says german#i say that I'll probably never need it in my life and that finnish would be better bc it's my top pick of countries to maybe move to#she says something like 'ok then learn whatever language you want' (no the tone wasn't dismissive. it was fine)#and like. if i stayed quiet. that's it. that's conversation over#a month ago she told me to tell her more about my troubles since its her that mostly takes priority in our conversations. and like#for a person who told me something like this#to then be disinterested in what i have to say#ugh it's one of my squicks and it hurts me
