Erina is SO MUCH MORE than just a "Generic Love Interest" that was brought in the story to continue the bloodline after everything that happens (and it's made abundantly clear time and time and TIME AGAIN that she means everything to Jonathan, to a point that she was his exact reason to standing up against Dio for the first time) but without fail she's only ever allowed to be the supportive best friend. Or a wingman for Jonathan and whoever he's being shipped with. Or simply supposed to sit there and allow her husband to have a male lover (the amount of posts I've seen of ppl using the excuse that 'it was very common back in the Victorian Era for men to keep male lovers that their wives were aware of and quietly accepted so it isn't a stretch to say that Erina and Jonathan wouldn't be the same--especially given how progressive she's written". Or of course my favorite when they completely erase her from the narrative and pretends she doesn't exist Jonathan's got their son for some reason, but nope she ain't there! 

a lot of times ppl who ship her CANON HUSBAND jonathan joestar with speedwagon will put her on the back burner of HER OWN CANON RELATIONSHIP in favor of propping up jonawagon, to the point where 90% of the archive for jonawagon/jonawagon(eri) is either erina giving jonathan and speedwagon consent to be happy together while she acts like a #LoveIsLove wingman OR they'll have the audacity to write fics where erina comforts speedwagon at HER HUSBAND'S FUNERAL

Our hero’s hot wife who was the first (and arguably) only person to give him the emotional support he needed. She’s the only person who never expects him to fulfill some mythical role, she just loves him for who he is. She’s been his best friend and the love of his life since he was 12 years old. When it comes to hero/sidekick ship, she’s forced to be a wing woman for her own husband, either nobly letting him go or peacefully agreeing to an open relationship but only for him!!! She gets nothing out of it, she’s just a good Victorian wife who is “ahead of her time”. Usually, just so she can provide a womb so that the hero/sidekick can be dads and she can conveniently be offscreen. OR she’s written as a lesbian in order to completely and “justifiably” take her out of the equation but there’s a.) no other woman in her vicinity to even ship her with b.) there’s vaguely some faceless, nameless woman we’re meant to assume she’s pursuing, not even a real OC for her.

The show literally does the yaoi treatment of victimisation for the benefit of the male leads to her. And then the fandom mistreats her

I'm not sure if this even counts but...Literally a victim of Yaoi along with several other characters in-series, but she got it almost the worst. The entire show is just people dying because the two male leads are OBSESSED with each other and can't be normal about anything. Alana Bloom, actual PhD of psychology and consultant to the FBI, got kissed by one guy, fucked and fed people-meant by the other, and pushed out a window by the murder husbands' forced-surrogate daughter. Like. Actual victim of several crimes caused by yaoi. She's probably one of the few examples of a Yaoi Victim overcoming and evolving past her yaoi-related trauma into a stronger person/character, though: She gets an entire character overhaul and a hot, millionairess for a wife. She kills a man with an eel. She becomes head of the BSHCI, effectively putting her in complete power over her jackass cannibal ex-bf. She does quite well. Unfortunately, the rest of her screen time is spent trying not to get killed in the ongoing fallout of Hannibal and Will's fucked up courtship, but hey. Can't have everything. I don't even know if I'm saying anything valid here: the fandom loves her, but I supposed her position outside of the Hannigram relationship relegates her to a non-subject in a lot of Hannigram-focused fanwork. She's an 'obstacle' to their relationship only in the sense that Will had a crush on her once that went nowhere and Hannibal started an actual relationship with her SPECIFICALLY to piss off Will. I guess she's also a more literal obstacle as Hannibal's jailer and Will's friend who's constantly pointing out to him that Morals exist and he should try having some of those, maybe.

25 – Stand ability you think wasn't used well enough for the series?

It took me a while to think, but I definitely think a lot of the stands of the Vento Aureo minor antags! Kraftwerk could've been very interesting to explore further, I think! I would like to see more of Babyface in different situations if it wasn't written the way it was. Voodoo Child in PHF deserved more time to do things with its ability. Honestly, so many one-off stands deserve more time to shine, I'm just naming the ones from Vento Aureo I can think of.

26 – Stand ability you thought didn't suit the character it belonged to?

Hmm, I'm not sure really? I'm having trouble remembering a lot of what happened in the other parts at the moment. I think The Sun is the one that comes to mind for me. Why does just some loser get a sun as a stand... Design wise, I don't like how Miraschon and Marilyn Manson look together. They clash so much! Though I guess it makes sense if the stand was given to her and previously belonged to someone else. The ability suits her but I just don't like how it looks.

37 – What's a character you don't understand the hype over?

Speedwagon. I love him, I really do, but because of the fandom, he completely overshadows Will. Will is overall more important in the narrative (as well as having a lovely relationship with Jonathan) and yet I hardly see him talked about! I think they should be held in equal regard at least! Most of the Phantom Blood content I see is just Jonawagon or Jonawagoneri and while I think they're both sweet ships, it bothers me that it's so much of what I see... Would Speedwagon even be as popular as he is if it wasn't for Jonawagon and memes? I understand his popularity but I don't understand why he's prioritised so much over Will and Erina, or even Poco!

(Also Cioccolata but that's less of a fandom-wide thing and more in a very specific side of the Vento Aureo fandom.)

The first character I first fell in love with: Kakyoin <3 The whole reason I dove head first into this Bizarre Adventure. Thank you to my dnd friends for having a random episode on when I showed up 🥺

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Tied at Polnareff and William Zeppeli I suppose. Polnareff started winning my heart when I'd look up Kak things and I saw what a goofball and lovable man he is. The rest was inevitable. My Will Zep loving came out of FUCKING NOWHERE though.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Rohan I guess. I feel like we'd get into a bitch slap fight cuz he'd insult me and then I'd get ANGRY. Same kinda goes for Yukako. She'd get short with me once and that wouldn't end well for either of us.

The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't think I have one. Underrated would be small Part 1 characters like Will Zep and Dire, but I don't think I really love a much hated character.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Okuyasu for personal reasons but I am doing everything in my power to love him again, I promise. I don't want to dislike him. I will succeed and adore him once more.

Jonawagon self-ship:

Jonathan and I adore Speedwagon for many reasons, but we both do get concerned whenever he goes out late at night, mainly as we know there are people who don't like him due to his less...lawful past but he is trying to make amends for it all. Still, we show him we don't judge him for his past.

Regardless of whoever of us is feeling sick, we all guess and mother over each other. Jonathan, despite his size and strength, will crumble when he is sick. Speedwagon will try to pretend he is okay but his coughing always gives him away. But when I am sick, I am either stubborn or “dying”. Jonathan will cook foods that will help me feel better and insist I take medicine. Speedwagon, though, if I am not better within a set amount of time, he wants me to go to a doctor. “Bein’ safe than sorry, love.” is what he would always say. 

Heisenberg self-ship:

Regarding what Heisenberg has been through, I do whatever I can to offer him any and all comfort and support, to remind him that someone does care for him and values him more than anyone has before. It was not easy at first as he was more solitary than a bloody oyster with a coating of quills. It mostly just took patience and time, and reassurance before he even let me get close. 

He insists on making gifts. He will ask me what I like and then next thing I know, he’s in his little workshop room in his factory for a while and then presents a gift crafted solely of metal but well crafted. He finds crafting and creating things soothing and relaxing for him, when it goes correctly that it, as it can also be the most stressful thing he will do when they don’t work how he wants to and that often makes him irritated. Best way to calm him down is to get him away from it and think about something else.

Fandom/fanfic asks!

2.- Most recent fandom you joined? Not sure if it counts because I've liked the games for actual years and I've just recently got more into them and became more active in the fandom, but it would probably be the Metal Gear series.

I don't watch or consume new media very often unless it's something that somehow takes my whole attention away from what I already like and I'm deep into, so it takes a while for me to get into a new series and fandom haha

5.- Favorite platonic pairing? In Jojo, that would be Erina and Speedwagon!! I love and cherish their friendship so much despite how little we see of it onscreen. This is also why I dislike it so much whenever the "everyone dates everyone" dynamic gets forced on Jonaeriwagon instead of just letting them be a happy V-polycule (not to mention the erasure of all things homo in Speedwagon by shipping him and Erina romantically and/or sexually when that's not even "necessary" for the polycule to work). Someone once said Erina and Speedwagon invented the "girl and her gay best friend" and they were so correct.

6.- Favorite headcanon? Going with Jojo again since that's like 99% of this blog, one of my fave headcanons ever is that of Speedwagon's body being covered by scars from his many years as a criminal (+ all of the more "honorable" ones he got after he joined Jonathan and helped him fight zombies, the one he got from Jack The Ripper, and whatnot).

Related to that one, I love the headcanon that Jonathan too has scars, most of them from his childhood, from his reckless ways (like that time we see him walking on a tree branch as a kid in the manga) and from playing around with Danny by the river, or from his boxing and rugby training. He also still has the scar from the wound Speedwagon caused him with his buzzsaw hat during their first encounter, since he wasn't a hamon user at the time and was unable to heal himself (the wound was said to be a deep cut, so it definitely must have left a scar). The sight of that one scar always makes Speedwagon apologize profusely bc he still feels bad for permanently marking Jonathan's skin with his own recklessness, however, Jonathan always reassures him that it's okay and that he genuinely likes it because, in Jonathan's words, much like Speedwagon's face scar does to him, it gives him personality too, and also "now we match, too, Robert!"

12.- Craziest thing you've ever done as part of a fandom? Already answered this one. This one is not as "crazy" I think?? But I'm adding it anyway as a bonus: I've always had a "if it doesn't exist, then make it yourself" approach when it comes to fandom stuff and spaces as a result of me always getting into obscure and/or unpopular fandoms/characters/ships, and so I always try to find ways to spread the love for what I like and share it with other fans regardless of how big or small the community is and promote interactions as much as I can and etc. This is also why I've kept this blog as some kind of "central" for all things Speedwagon/Jonathan and Jonawagon, for example. It is also why I try to tag every post I make or reblog, to make navigation easier for any and all fans of them who end up here, as I do still remember just how difficult it was to find anything for them years ago, when all you'd find would be "Speedweeeed best gril! XD! le funny memez" full of out of character bullshit.

20.- All-time favorite fanfic author? Probably HamonHugs when it comes to Jojo. Their portrayal of Jonathan and Speedwagon was always so on point and their stories were always so *chef's kiss* and had a perfect balance between fluff and cute moments and super hot and sexy ones too. There was also a fanfic author in the Yu Yu Hakusho fandom that I liked a lot but I can't remember their alias. They wrote some really good KuronuexKurama stories, though, as far as I can remember, they deleted their stories some years ago.

24.- Funniest fandom-related story? Already answered too! As a small bonus, I wouldn't say it's precisely funny since it's more of a super nice and touching experience I had, but it has happened to me at least once that someone recommended to me one of my own fics, saying it was one of their favorite fics ever and that I should totally read it. This person didn't know I was the author since I rarely ever mention my ao3/wattpad accounts or the fact that I raaaaarely ever write fics, so it was genuine praise. It was kinda odd in the best way possible and it was also super touching in the sense that once more I could see first-hand the positive impact some of my writing has had on someone else, similar to the times people have taken time out of their day to tell me just how much they enjoy my creations, or how happy they make them, whether it's my fics or my art. It's just undescribable but it truly makes my day every single time it happens 🫶

Aaaa you're so sweet ;; I get nervous about talking about my polyam selfships usually because even some of the acquaintances in my friend group think it's gross to be polyam 😔 but that aside my heart is just so full of love?? Whenever I see ship art of jonawagon and caejose im all "!!!! My boyfriends??? Loving eachother omg???" and like with jonathan and speedwagon I love the idea of spoiling them both with praise and kindness and working with Jonathan to lift Speedwagon's mood when he's feeling insecure by calling him our precious good boy and giving him kisses and holding his hands... And!! With joseph & caesar im similar to joseph but not quite as abrasive so caesar always has to put up with our nonsense but I usually plot with Joseph to do something nice for him as often as we feel it- like if we're playing a prank on him it'll be something like a water bucket above the doorframe but instead of water when he opens it it'll just be full of colorful paper hearts.. However, I am very soft for the ocs I have for them ( which are... kind of like aspects of my personality). I’m always soft for Valentine x Maggie May... He finds her absolutely adorable ok she’s part of his staff like she’s a cook and like forreal he enjoys making her flustered so much... Also like thinking about Chiko and Kira a lot. She’s his coworker and she’s got a crush on him - she’s kinda like a disgruntled employee and the crush she has on Kira is really what keeps her motivated to go to work. Their relationship starts out very casual... maybe a little awkward, but they fall for each other eventually ( I mean the best it’s gonna get with a literal k/iller you know kdsljfds)

New Year’s kissus~ 【no longer accepting】

Days ago, when he'd accepted Jonathan's invitation to spend the new year's with him, Robert hadn't thought much of it in general, figuring it would be somewhat similar to some of the new year's eves from years prior in Ogre Street (minus all the crime involved, of course, no one getting their guts spilled out on the snow, and with plenty of fine foods and those fancy wines rich people enjoyed instead). The idea of it wasn't half bad at all. Besides, the only thing Robert truly cared about was spending time with Jonathan and have a peaceful evening and a lovely time with him. Jojo deserved that and so much more, after all, and Robert was determined to do everything in his power to ensure that. Everything else outside of it would be a much appreciated bonus, really.

Thankfully for Robert, Jonathan's idea of this year's celebration was a modest one. Just the two of them. No big parties, no big crowds of rich folks or anything (something that would have only increased Speedwagon's already existing feelings of inadequacy around a fine nobleman like Jojo). Jonathan had told him about some of the countless times he had not been able to fit in with what the upper classes considered "proper for a gentleman", so it made sense to think the younger male would opt for something less taxing in those regards, something where he could just lay back and relax without worrying about having to keep up with whatever society deemed "appropriate" of a man like him for a date like this.

That evening, hours went by, with both men sharing experiences, chatting, cracking some jokes every now and then, laughing, and, overall, having a great time together. Before they knew, the grandfather clock in the parlour began to chime, indicating it was midnight already.

They got caught off guard by the new year, apparently...

Though, that was nothing in comparison to what Jonathan had had in mind, that much Robert could have confirmed himself, had it not been because, well...

...Jonathan was kissing him.

Robert's eyes went wide as soon Jonathan's lips claimed his own. His entire body stiffened for a moment in surprise before he slowly eased into the touch. He could feel his face burning. His heart was racing, threatening to come out of his chest (or so Speedwagon could feel his dumb, lovestruck, heart was trying to do). Next thing he knew was that he was now cupping one of Jonathan's cheeks while Jojo rested his hands on the thug's hips as they shared that kiss.

"Happy new year t' you, too, Jojo..." Robert replied once their lips parted; his voice merely a whisper with how close they were still to each other. Honey brown eyes meeting turquoise; soft smiles being exchanged.

Oh, yes. This was definitely so much better than anything Robert could have anticipated earlier that day.
