Charles Leclerc x Cillian Murphy's daughter! reader
Charles is known to have a specific type, but when rumors come out of him dating an Irish girl the fans are intrigued and ready to fight for their driver... but is their love for him enough to face the girl's father? No.
or
In which Charles' new girlfriend, YN Murphy, is the only WAG spared of any online issues due to her father's infamous stare
N.B: face claim is Billie Eilish.... this purely started from the fact that all my face claims so far are korean (I am too deep in, their dramas are so good, I can't get out) which I wanted to change / mix up (I already have 3 social media fic drafts, a Toto Wolff fic, a Carlos Sainz fic and a Max Verstappen fic with Korean faceclaims) and then I saw the tweet? Of Billie and Cillian looking alike, so I thought, why not.

Johnshi HCs
I'm sorry most of these aren't explicitly romantic I just have so many HCs about the two of them it's driving me crazy.
Tumblr media
Johnny holds Kenshi by the waist, Kenshi holds Johnny by the shoulder or the bicep. After some time Kenshi starts to go for his hand instead.
Johnny is on his phone all of the time. Kenshi will either avoid the internet for a week or plays chess on the computer at the kitchen table for a day straight without talking to anyone (secretly uses Sento for this).
Kenshi has good spirits (literally) when it comes to his blindness, but can get very defensive when others pity him for it. Johnny is the only other person he will let touch his blindfold, take it off, or wash it.
Kenshi doesn't love the name "Johnny Cage" and thinks that "John Carlton" suits him. Johnny thinks that it sounds like an "old man's name"
Kenshi would visit Johnny on set sometimes but not say or do anything but sit in the background and watch him in silence until he was done.
Speaking of that- Kenshi had a good time filming in Outworld for Johnny's movie (made him feel like an action hero), but absolutely refused to watch the parts he was in.
Kenshi thought Johnny's movies were mostly cheesy before and after meeting him. However, he ended up rewatching all of them and got excited when there was news he got cast for a new one (before they started to officially date).
Johnny was a pretty good student growing up who made A's and B's as per expectations of his parents but hated school because he got picked on. He got into a decent university where he ended up falling in love with physics. He accidentally became famous around the time he was 20 (maybe he got street casted and went viral?) and had to balance acting with school to get his pHD. He is that school's most famous alumni.
Kenshi was mostly homeschooled by his parents and did not show much attention in academics in his youth due to his intense upbringing in the yakuza. This is something that he regrets but accepts that it wasn't really his choice to begin with. However he is quite knowledgable, knows broadly about history and literature, and can speak multiple languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, English, Spanish). He also learns braille relatively fast after losing eyesight.
Kenshi thinks it's so hot that Johnny has a pHD but also thinks its so strange he doesn't do anything with it. (It's a backup plan so he can write textbooks if his career tanks)
Johnny is great at drawing due to it being a hobby growing up stemming from him being a major comic book fan. Kenshi isn't very artistic however used to be able to do mediocre calligraphy (a skill he learned from his parents) before he became blind.
Kenshi breaking into Cage Mansion the second Cris left was admittedly pretty awkward for him (but he was too distracted by Sento to rly care).
Kenshi tries to not let it get to him, but he is saddened by the fact he cannot read properly anymore. Johnny tries to support him by buying him every audiobook in every language he understands. Kenshi will sometimes ask Johnny to read to him mostly because he loves the sound of his voice.
At first, Kenshi tried to get Sento to help him with daily tasks (cooking, cleaning, etc.), but after talking to Kuai Liang he tries not to rely on Sento on anything non-kombat related.
Kenshi has a slight lisp (I'm sorryyyy this isn't rly a hc but you can hear it in his intro dialogues he still sounds like a badass tho i think it's super cute thank god for Vic Chao)
Johnny makes their home a "smart home" a.k.a 30 Alexas in every room of their place, and a Samsung fridge he can live tweet from while making green juice.
Kenshi sometimes used to drive with Sento in the back seat and got arrested for it one time. Now he gets told off by Johnny for it every time he tries it again.
Kenshi will only drink milky coffee (lattes, cappuccinos, etc.) and prefers tea. Johnny hates coffee and tea and pounds red bull in the morning.
Kenshi used to care a lot about his personal style and mostly only wore suits and dress attire. After losing his eyesight, he didn't care as much anymore and just focused on wearing things that were comfortable (sweatpants, sweaters)
Johnny buys Kenshi soft fluffy things to wear all the time. Kenshi always says it's unnecessary but ends up wearing it anyway.
In MK1 Johnny is 32, and Kenshi is 39 (I like the idea of Kenshi being old it just makes sense to me). It both amuses and horrifies Kenshi that he's dating a white man 7 yrs his junior.
Johnny calls him "old man Takahashi" and Kenshi just goes along with it and says "get off my lawn you punk" or something LOL
I think Kenshi was more of the brawny "tough guy" of the yakuza than the suave, seductive type. He has more of an awkward and stony personality. And the fact that he was desperate to get out makes me think he wouldn't entertain the "flirty" role of the job. (a.k.a Kenshi is BAD at flirting unlike a certain someone)
Johnny sometimes helps Kenshis clunky azz samurai gear on before he engages in kombat. Johnny is also the reason Kenshi sometimes gives up and just wears a suit.
Kenshi shops like an old Asian dad. LOVES Costco, will eat all of the samples. Will buy everything on sale even if he doesn't need it. Will not take Johnny with him because his megastardom ruins the peace of being unrecognized. Has taken Raiden with him though. Will use Johnny's credit card. Johnny is dismayed that he hasn't taken a liking to Erewhon and Whole Foods
When Johnny isn't there with him at night Kenshi will play his movies and fall asleep to the sound of his voice
Kenshi will have sex with the blindfold on. He will fall asleep next to Johnny with it off.
Kenshi doesn't like sleeping with the blindfold on, but was worried it would scare or disgust Johnny in some way. It doesn't and it never did. In fact, Johnny appreciates the intimacy that it creates.

Why did Joon posting that song blow up to such an insane degree, but Taehyung mouthing the n-word seems to have made no noise? I’m absolutely not saying I wanted Taehyung to be at the center of a hate campaign, but I’m kind of surprised? If I understood the meaning of the song correctly, Joon really didn’t do anything wrong or offensive at all, but it blew up and was everywhere for days. I saw so many discussions about it on different platforms. But then Taehyung actually DID do something wrong. But it’s just… crickets. I guess I’m just confused? Why did Joon’s thing turn out like it did, but Taehyung seems to have gotten away unscathed?
***
I just want to say, first of all, that I abhor this sort of ask for two reasons: (1) because it ultimately taps into the incredibly toxic hyper-competitiveness in k-pop, where everything is seen within the lens of comparison and competition - nothing is sacred; and (2) because I'm Black and Korean, and having to explain the intricacies of how this space creates and engages in the sort of prejudice cocktail one uniquely finds here, especially since I've been into k-pop for this long, is annoying and borderline dehumanizing to experience.
But I understand why you asked it. I know you likely bore no malice in asking it and I can see why the stark difference in reactions could be confusing, so I'll use your ask to make a general comment about general fandom dynamics. It's something I've talked about before, when discussing hate and how Jimin doesn't actually get as much hate as a lot of people think, but that he does get huge amounts of certain kinds of hate. I suggest you read that post with this one please, because I won't repeat all I said there, here.
I often talk about the different players in k-pop fandom, how hate can be manufactured, and that various things have influenced previous scandals blowing up. It can get confusing to fully explain, but I'll try not to ramble and will try to outline this methodically somehow, splitting up the factors I think are important into sub-headings.
The Background/Setting
This might not seem obvious at first, but it's important to know what else is happening in k-pop fandom at the time.
In the case of Namjoon's artificial scandal of recommending a Frank Ocean song about Black queer experience, and unrequited love related to religious truama - a song 10s of idols and people had shared before to zero controversy, and a scandal started in a Blinks GC including BTS akgaes (who were Blinks) - the background context was Lisa getting dragged by most of stan twt for an unflattering picture posted on Popbase, Blackpink getting flayed by several k-pop fandoms for not selling out their latest concert venue, and simultaneously NewJeans taking yet another record from Blackpink. This wasn't the catalyst for the hate on Namjoon, but it provided the background noise for why Blinks were so angsty and pissed. All that happened in one day.
You see, before Blinks came after Namjoon, they'd actually gone after NewJeans' fandom in retaliation. A blink hacked the NewJeans Global fanbase following the achievement announcement. Look at the date of that tweet. If you were on Twitter you would've seen "APOLOGIZE TO LISA" trending globally. Well, that's what happened. Bunnies are a much smaller fandom but their group is the top girl group, meaning that fandom dynamics make them an easy target to overwhelm that nobody would care to defend and so their pleas that their fanbase was hacked fell on deaf ears, Blinks easily overran them and practically everything that happened to Namjoon two days later, happened first to NewJeans and their fanbase. But the scandal didn't gain much traction and Blinks were like, raging pissed. I'm talking people screaming in various Twitter spaces mad. Just insane any way you look at it.
Then a day later Namjoon said in a magazine interview that BTS would be returning around 2025. That was the catalyst for the hate. Aside from the additional annoyance for Blinks of BTS, well, BTS-ing, BTS akgaes who were also Blinks, absolutely lost their shit. It might seem like such an innocuous thing, but one thing you'll realize is, a lot of people here are frankly insane. I know I use that word a lot but I actually mean it. Much of what passes for 'discourse' here, is actually fueled by people who are very unstable and cannot manage their emotional reactions to facts outside their control. Such is the perpetual plight of BTS akgaes and one such fact is BTS all saying they intend to return in a few years, and so their attention turned to him and he would've had a hate train sooner or later. It was only blind luck that he shared Bad Religion on Instagram the next day.
To contrast with Tae's situation, Blinks were celebrating various achievements yesterday and today. And so, silly as this might be to say, they were less pissed than they were in the lead up to Namjoon's situation. Also, Blinks and most other shooters were pre-occupied with much juicier drama today, which was the blow-up around Bang Chan's room being suspended. Dives and Stays have been going at it, with Blinks and shooters well in the mix. Scandals sometimes never happen the day of the incident. In fact it's more common for something to happen which an anti or rival fandom notices, keeps away, and then blows up at a more opportune moment - such as during the actual comeback. So it's not like Tae's even in the clear. This could still come back to hurt him (and BTS, because that's how these things always play out), though I doubt it, because of the players.
The Players
The fact is that since Tae started dating Jennie, he has less natural predators within the Blink fandom. He's still hated, just not to same degree he was by that fandom when he accidentally followed Jennie on Instagram a year ago. Also, many Blinks are BTS maknae-line akgaes meaning many Blinks are also taekookers and KTHs. In case anyone was unaware. So Tae is likely never going to get as much umbrage from Blinks as he would from Orbits, for example. But just by being in BTS, he's hated by that fandom.
Rival BTS akgaes are also players here who tried to get the ball rolling on the hate train, but in recent weeks I'd seen sympathy from PJMs towards Tae for his abysmal performance numbers, so not many of them joined in right away. JJKs on the other hand, who have been dealing with a lot of flack for Seven's versions/performance, saw an opportunity to use Tae's gaffe to play off his akgaes and the fandom against other akgaes. ARMYs are a bit stupid, as I've said before, and PJMs are careless, loud, and moronic - they've earned a reputation that makes them easy scapeoats, as I've said before too, so playing those factions off each other was very easy to do.
This all left Black ARMYs, who knew that if this blows up, every BTS member would become a target because of k-pop fandom dynamics, whether that was fair or not, especially for a gaffe like this, to contain this somewhat.
Namjoon does not have the benefit (if I can even call it that) of dating Jennie, his akgaes do overlap with some other fandoms but not Blinks, and his crime was not the sort that was very contagious to other members, so it allowed more akgaes to zero in on him and Blinks to let loose on him.
The Crime
There's no pretty way of saying this, but identity 'crimes' in k-pop fandoms are kind of a bitch and can be tricky to understand. In Tae's case, the fact is that the clips do offer him plausible deniability. I can see how someone could persuade others to think he never mouthed it, though I personally don't buy it. But given the fact that racist charges in particular are very sticky and will be used to target every member, from Jimin to Namjoon even if Tae was the culprit, I can see why the fandom approached it this way.
There's also the very simple fact that a lot of people didn't actually notice that Tae mouthed "nigga". I know the song he was listening to so I know what he said, but I could bet you 40 quid that 80% of the fandom is actually blissfully oblivious. And that's how it usually is with these things. Unless an anti or rival fandom blows it up, it might as well have never happened because few people would've registered that it happened in the first place. And because of (1) the background and (2) the players, it was always unlikely that this could turn into a shit storm today. It could still happen for Tae, but it happening today, in my view at least, was always unlikely.
Namjoon by contrast, had a crime that wasn't even one, but religious sensitivities can be very volatile, and the people who eventually believed he was in error and were fanning the flames, were primarily homophobes and misogynists who justify those beliefs with their religion - in addition to some Muslim fans who perhaps felt genuinely hurt. Not Black ARMYs or Black k-pop stans who have likely dealt with exactly this sort of crime before. I mean, this is k-pop, Shinee and Mamamoo for example, well loved k-pop groups still haven't apologized for doing Blackface and Brownface, they've never even acknowledged it, and yet nobody cares. And so many Black fans unfortunately have a sort of resignation or racism fatigue. In a sense.
One other reason is that, for racist or anti-Black accusations, sometimes other k-pop fandoms could be hesitant to join in and blow up the scandal because they’re aware of their own idols being guilty of the same or much worse, and they know explicitly going after BTS will get ARMYs to drag their faves to filth. It would be something akin to mutually assured destruction but ARMYs would possibly overwhelm with share numbers. Comparatively, accusations around Islamophobia aren’t as common, and so more k-pop fandoms could join in to virtue signal on that basis, and blow it up further knowing ARMYs wouldn’t have equal basis to retaliate towards certain fandoms.
**
I took my time writing all this for a few reasons. One is because I'm very well aware that there's a narrative in some parts of the fandom that Jimin is hated the most and Tae is hated the least. Again as though this is some kind of competition. And that it's very likely for this to be the talking point in this space filled with Jimin biases, jikook shippers, and Jimin akgaes. Not to call y'all out exactly, it's just the reality as I see it. But like I keep saying, if you're listening to akgaes for most anything, you're being quite stupid because you're guaranteed to be misled. In my opinion. There's a lot more things that influence how things play out here, there's so much more nuance into how various patterns develop, that the simplistic and victimizing arguments offered by that point of view, aren't all that helpful if what you want is to actually understand what's happening here.
*
And while I'm on the subject since this post is already too long and I've gotten asks about how to feel about this, I'll copy-paste here what I already told someone else privately:
I don't hate Tae, and as a Black person, much less a Black person who has lived in Korea with family there, this sort of anti-Blackness, while disappointing no matter where its encountered, even more so since it's from a BTS member in this case, is something many Black people live with.
I understand what you mean I think, and though you say you don't know how to feel right now, I know how I feel: I feel disappointed. Tae mouthing the word on camera, not bothering to show more care around how it could look, indicates to me that it's possible he shows even less care in private i.e. he's possibly comfortable saying the word in private. This could be true or false. And while not the worst thing in the world (I don't for a second think any of the guys are perfect people - it's possible there's a high chance they'd behave like typical Korean men in various situations with all the cultural prejudices and ignorance), it's disappointing that this could still happen in 2023. As you've said, it seemed very unlikely. But then again, unlike some other members, Taehyung himself has never come under fire for this sort of gaffe. Where Joon, Hobi, and Yoongi have been forced to grow in their engagement with Black culture as they're the members that have worked very deeply on hiphop, Tae's always had a bit of a peripheral view. He's never been personally impacted by any of that particular scrutiny, and given what I think his personality is like, I won't be surprised if it never really registered in his mind as something to be cautious about, since he'd never been personally really affected by it. Hence one reason I started out that post by calling him stupid, as harsh as that might sound.
Personally, I never expect perfection from BTS, so while this is disappointing, it does not dramatically impact how I feel about Tae or BTS or Layover a week from now. I listen to a lot of music and a lot of hiphop made by artists who have very likely killed before, so my personal tolerance for 'problematic' artists or things like this could be very different from yours. It's unfortunate that Tae's actions could bring very negative attention to the whole group, and people will have feelings - some people being hurt and other people re-offending in a bid to defend or antagonize him, so I'd suggest trying not to get caught in the crossfire. If you still want to support Tae, that's okay. Personally, I'll be checking out his album and plan to support it with streams and some sales. If you're hurt and want to say that, that's okay too. If you don't feel like supporting his project, that's okay too. Process this in a way where you honour your feelings and beliefs first, based on the facts as you have them. And anyone who tries to make your life difficult about it either way, fuck them. In my opinion.

Hey, I just wanna know from where did you start learning thai? Also, what advice do you give to those who wanna start learning it
Hiya anon ✨
Tumblr media
I'm not sure how much help I can be, considering I'm not doing a course or following an app or anything people usually do for language learning 🥴 I've been learning mostly by immersion tbh - I've been almost exclusively watching Thai series for over a year now, plus interviews, variety shows, youtube content, songs, so many songs lol, tweets, etc.
My personal learning approach is pretty loose and chaotic lmao but here goes:
1) The biggest hurdle for me was the script. Apart from already having started to notice recurring words being said in the Thai BLs I was watching at the time, I also wanted to be able to read people's tweets! In the end, it was a combination of 1) an app I happened to find (Pocket Thai Master for Android, it's free on the Play store!) and 2) the Wikipedia article on the Thai script that both helped me to understand and start reading and writing. Coming from a non-tonal mother tongue, learning the script early on really helps to understand the tones in Thai so it's something I would for sure recommend!
2) I started keeping a lil vocabulary notebook (you know those two-column ones?) shortly before my Bangkok vacation earlier this year. It not only helped with new vocabulary but also kept me practicing writing! Anytime I encounter a new word, I look it up on either or all of the following online dictionaries: thai-language.com, thai2english, Longdo Dictionary (which I literally just now realized can be set to English in the upper right corner, I've just been using it in Thai ever since I found it djsjdh), Wiktionary in Thai, or if all else fails I google it and might find an old forum entry or maybe an article if it's a slang word or idiom. I recall having dinner in a Bonchon in Bangkok and brokenly asking the waitress for chopsticks so, while waiting, I looked up and took down the word's spelling and pronunciation and when she came back and saw me copying all the info into my little notebook liKE A NERD she laughed and complimented me for the effort haha
3) If I hear a Thai word I'm unfamiliar with that I can't look up because I don't know the spelling, there's a few approaches. If I have context for its meaning, for example subtitles, then I look up the translation instead and hope I find it. If I don't, then there's the option of using thai-language.com's Reverse Phonemic Transcription function (this site in general is my holy grail tbh, it's why I mostly stick to its romanization style for any of my #local woman harps on about linguistics posts). Another option is using the papago app's speech-to-text function. Yes, you read that right. A Korean translation app, that I previously used when I was learning Korean and thus still had on my phone, proved to be useful for me to make sense of the spelling or pronunciation of Thai words. At the beginning, I only used it to read me homonyms out loud so I could parse the difference in tones lol but then I realized it wasn't half bad at rendering an accurate transcription! Sometimes I use that feature to check my own pronunciation or remind myself of the spelling of a word.
4) I always like to recommend @lurkingteapot's comprehensive Thai language learning resources post (it's far more coherent than my post here lol). And shoutout to @recentadultburnout for posting about Thai language and culture as a native speaker (both on tumblr and on ao3)! 🙏
5) This might be minor or self-evident but ya know- install the Thai keyboard for your devices! You're gonna need it sooner or later anyway if you wanna actually use the language. And if you're a keycap and keyboard nerd like me and happen to fall in love with a keyboard in a Siam Discovery store ehem then I do recommend getting a Thai layout keyboard (or keyboard stickers!) because that has proven to help me a lot in terms of ease of learning on desktop and familiarizing myself with letters I don't often encounter. Throwback to that one time I was on the train, revising consonants and their tone classes, and indignantly texted a very confused yet amused family member a photo of my hand-written copy of the Thai consonant table, asking how I'm ever supposed to differentiate between ฎ and ฏ!! Even now, I have to lean in and squint like an old lady to see the difference on desktop. 😭
I hope at least some of this proves to be helpful in your quest to learn Thai! In any case, you're not alone on tumblr or in our little BL/GL/QL fandom bubble - I know of several users who are learning Thai, like @airenyah and @philologique and the aforementioned @lurkingteapot, just to name a few I personally follow and who I'm sure all have their own advice to give if you shoot them an ask~
สู้ ๆ นะ :) /suu suu na/

The funniest thing about this is OP pretending not to know who they are. How does that work? Maybe if you're overseas and you see two Korean guys with a lot of security and at some exclusive locale, a layman might immediately conclude BTS because they're the only famous Koreans they know. But reaching that conclusion in Seoul is crazy. So how exactly did OP not know who they are but still know they were from BTS? This is clearly just someone with too much free time 😭
I love how we keep questioning that tweet even though I think or hope we all know it's probably a lie.
Well, reading the tweet again OP said they knew they were from bts but didn't know who they were, which is honestly possible. That's why it was easy for them to find out who they were as they knew which group they were from. The rest of the tweet is just poorly structured. It's a badly structured lie in my opinion.
From the way the tweet is worded, one would understand that they were at the same dinner because OP talked about it being semi-private, which can be understood that, although they were in a restaurant, they were sitting in a private or slightly secluded part but as it was semi-private they were then at the same table? because, how else would they see jikook? unless the semi-private part of where they were had several tables? which would defeat the point of being semi-private.
Now realistically, the person who wrote that should have been a bit more creative or made it look more believable. The semi-private dinner part is overdone, that they knew what group they were from but not who they were individually is plausible but weak.
It would have been better to say that they were in a restaurant, saw the staff paying more attention to two diners in particular, asked who they were and they told them they were bts members and that he looked up their names on the internet and found out they were Jimin and Jungkook. The kissing thing was also unnecessary and it's what brings the whole premise down, instead, they should have just said that they were sitting close together, that they looked like a couple and that's it.
That would have been more believable ajajajaajajajaj.

Hey! I saw your infographic about where to start reading Silk. I was wondering why not TASM 2014 comics?
Hello, anon! I'm so glad you saw my infographic, I did leave it vague in the image so I understand why someone would be curious!
Oooh boy, buckle up because Dan Slott (the creator of Silk) apologized himself for needlessly sexualizing her, if that gives you an idea of how bad it was. I screenshotted the original tweets because Twitter isn't in a user-friendly state right now below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Essentially, Silk was introduced to be bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker, which is all fine and good until we get to the part where it meant they were so attracted to each other's 'pheromones' that they... couldn't keep their hands off each other. Yeah. Literally someone in the comic described them as "dogs in heat" and "urge to mate" was another descriptor used by Peter himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(TASM 2014 issues #7 and #9)
Genuinely I don't know how to explain just how much how weird that is. It's just bad writing -- obviously a cop out to have a new love interest for Peter, but not wanting to put in any work to make it work past "they were bitten by the same spider so they're meant to be." It was poorly received by fans back then; it's poorly received now. I honestly didn't think we'd get an apology for it, but I guess seven years late is better than never.
To touch upon the harmful Asian stereotypes, East Asian women have been fetishized and sexualized so much under the Western gaze that having a Korean-American woman being compelled to fuck the white male main character is... not helping things, to say the least. There's a moment where she's weirdly possessive over Peter, and it's just hard to read. Also, her original suit was bad. Like really really bad. I don't know why people still draw her in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(TASM 2014 #5 and #10)
I hope this explains why people tend to ignore her intro and why I recommend starting with her solos! Her first solo run sets a really good foundational base for her character and loses that whole pheromones thing entirely. It gives you a great impression of Silk while TASM will just leave you frustrated and you really don't need much prior context going head-on into it. I think that without the fatal-attraction part pre-solo the other things that happen are fun, but I wouldn't wish the bad stuff on anyone, if that makes sense. Thanks for the ask!

Who is your most loved person?  I'd say my parents. I'm *really* bad at expressing it but I really think this is the case. They were the first people I thought of, too.
Have you ever been bullied?  Oh you have no idea how much you can be bullied over a name.
Who makes you the happiest?  I'd be lying if I didn't say BTS.
What is the most heroic thing you’ve ever done?  I like to think I saved a life once. I won't delve into it much but I had an orgmate who tweeted something in an extremely distressed yet decided tone and I caught it the second he posted, so I took it as a sign to reach out privately even though we weren't close outside of org work. Stayed with them for like half an hour until they calmed down. It doesn't matter to me whether they still remember that night or not, but I do like to go back to that moment when I need a little self-reminder that I can do nice things too.
What calms you down when you’re upset?  BTS bro.
Have you been betrayed in the past? How?  Yeah I have had a friend spill secrets of mine. Yes multiple ones, and yes it's the same person. I've had her blocked everywhere since 2009 and have no plans to ever talk to her again.
Who do you miss the most?  Nobody in real life.
What’s one sweet/candy you miss from your childhood?  Coffeebeat from Meiji. We used to have a local convenience store that would sell this bundle of Meiji candies - idk how to explain it but it was like a sampler bundle? So like tiny portions of different candies, and sold as one product - and I would only ever eat the Coffeebeats. All the other candies in that bundle, I gave to my sister.
Also, I FOUND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE OMG. It's this one!!!
Tumblr media
Do you have a favourite celebrity chef?  Baek Jongwon :D I get so excited when BTS does stuff with him or when I see him on my favorite Korean variety shows.
Do you prefer diamonds or pearls?  Diamonds.
Is there anything coming out soon (books, albums, movies, video games) that you’re looking forward to?  Oppenheimer is already out but I have yet to watch it...maybe this Saturday! I've been meaning to take myself out on a weekend. As for music, just Taehyung's and Jungkook's albums.
How do you go about finding books/movies/music to read/watch/listen to?  Books: I never really read anymore but I'm bound to check a book out if it's related to my interests, like if I find out a favorite wrestler is coming up with a memoir.
Movies: I can pick up movie recos from anywhere. All I need is a plot that resonates with me or with my type of movie (read: drama).
Music: I listen to solely BTS these days but if any of the members share a song reco then I'm likely to check it out. So far my favorite music taste has been Joon's.
What’s a band/musician you were really into for a while but who you don’t care about or hardly listen to anymore?  Banks and alt-J.
What is something someone recommended to you that you disliked/hated?  It wasn't recommended to me per se but I was once invited to a birthday gathering where we were treated to watch Me Before You, and I remember not liking it all that much.
Do you find it difficult to keep up with online friendships?  Yes, which is why I quit that life many years ago. It's hard when you're on different timezones, and even harder when you drift apart. After losing my circle of friends from my wrestling fandom, and after experiencing Carley go on and off the radar 1 billion times, I've been too scared to make online friends again.
Has there ever been a person you regret ever being friends with?  Kind of.
Do you think you have a good understanding on love?  I don't know. What counts as 'good'? I don't think I'll ever understand love completely; all I know from it are my own experiences.
What do you want to do on your honeymoon?  I'm not sure, actually. Never really thought about it. First thing that came to mind is to go to South Korea but I feel like I'm just saying where I want to travel HAHAHA
What do you think of your parent(s)?  They are very hardworking and have always done the most and best they can for us.
I do wish my mom did not inflict/pass on so much of her mental anguish on us when we were kids, and I wish she didn't treat us and talk to us and get frustrated with us as if we were adults when we were like 5...but the older I get, the more I understand where she was coming from. I get it. But just because I'm able to empathize now doesn't mean I've forgiven all that happened in the past.
If your best friend confessed that they can see the future, you would…?  I would tell her to get real.
What’s your least favorite pizza topping?  Pepperoni, salami, beef, pork, pineapple.
What’s your dream pet?  I don't have a dream pet. For me, all I need are dogs.
Most unattractive male name, in your opinion?  Bob or Mark.
Is your pet dog male or female?  I've only ever had male dogs.
Have you or would you try shark meat?  I would.
Do you know anyone that’s pescatarian?  I'm pretty sure I do - I think Joanna may be? - but I just wouldn't be able to identify who off the top of my head.
Do you think the government has a cure for cancer, but is hiding it from public?  I highly doubt that.
Do people normally describe you as sexy? No.
Was your ex born in America?  No.
Has your best friend ever made you cry?  Um, only happy ones. She kept me alive when I couldn't do it for myself, and I tend to get emotional when I think about those days.
Do you still talk to the person you liked six months ago?  I haven't liked anyone in nearly three years.
Has anyone ever talked you into doing something you didn’t want to do?  Isn't that the experience of everyone with an Asian parent ever?
Are you smiling in your Facebook profile picture?  The biggest smile I've ever done, yes. I was in Bangkok, posing right in front of the arena where Yoongi was performing that evening.
Be honest, does the person you like actually deserve you?  I don't like anybody.
List 5 things that have been on your mind most recently.  Considering resigning before I get my next promotion; Our family vacation in December that I really don't want to happen; Work-related reimbursements that I need to request ASAP; Figuring out when to be firm and when to be loose as a manager; Taking my dogs to their next vet appointment.
Would you ever wear black lipstick? Do you know anyone who does?  I never wear black lipstick and no I don't know anyone who does.
If you wear eye shadow, do you put on a dark colour or a light?  I don't really wear eyeshadow.
Do you combine your socks and underwear in the same drawer?  Yes, I do.
Does the last person you kissed live within walking distance?  No.
Is there someone you could hang out with all the time, without ever getting bored of them?  Probably not. I love my friends, but at some point I'd also prefer my own company. I was overseas with my close friends for just 5 days, but after that I couldn't wait to be on my own hahahaha.
Do you know a girl named Beth? Tell me about her.  I used to. She was a semi-online friend from the wrestling community; like we weren't close by any means, but we were part of the same community 'clique' and would always be cool with each other whenever we'd interact. She's from the UK and had a CM Punk-related username. She's very pretty, too.
Do you think the last person you kissed has ever lied to you?  Yes.
Have you ever been hit on by somebody way too old for you?  No.
First kink tried?  Choking.
First time doing oral?  I was 18.
Do you send nudes? Do you like receiving them?  Well, not these days, but yes I used to. Yeah I like receiving them too, as long as I'm actually *with* the person; otherwise I imagine I would be grossed out.
How much teasing do you like?  It's not my favorite thing in the world but I can play along. I'd rather be teased than do the teasing, though.
Are you okay with name-calling in bed?  I don't think I've ever experienced it...but I'm open to exploring and figuring out if I'm actually into it.
How often do you do unprotected sex?  I used to be in a same-sex relationship so this wasn't really something I worried about.
Do you like wearing/seeing people in lingerie?  Honestly not into it.
Are stockings/thigh-highs a turn on?  Not for me.
How many other people know your bra size?  I doubt anyone else does.
Do you have any friends you’d sleep with?  Nope.
Does the person you like have any flaws?  I don't like anyone.
Has anyone ever given you a ring? Why?  Yeah, just for funsies.
Creation theory, evolution or the Big Bang theory?  Anything but creation.
What was your last serious conversation about?  I'm so sure and I'm too exhausted to try to remember.
Have you ever been into a real cave?  Yes.
Have you ever posted mean comments on YouTube?  I don't think so. I rarely comment on YouTube anyway.
Name the strangest game you’ve ever played (video game or real game):  I'm not a big gamer but something that comes to mind is that Flash bartending game lol. Strange, but very nostalgic and very very fun.
Who was the last person to play with your hair? Are they cute?  I can't remember...maybe Angela? She's the likeliest to do so anyway.
Who was the last person close to you that died? Did you cry?  Marisse's dad. I didn't cry, but there was a heaviness even though I haven't seen him since I was 7. He and my grandpa used to be close, and seeing him after all these years, but just at his wake, reminded me of those memories I have of them together.
Do you know anyone who uses medical marijuana?  No, that's not legal here.
Do you know anyone who’s died in childbirth?  I have a cousin who apparently passed on, but I'm not sure if what happened was a miscarriage or death in childbirth. We don't really tackle Sophia within the family, but I wish I could know more about her. I only learned about her to begin with from Facebook, although I wish I didn't have to learn about a dead cousin that way.
Do you agree with the “they’re just being kids” excuse?  Idk I feel like this is such a vague statement. There are some things that can be excused, but if a kid is like committing arson or beating up other kids or abusing animals then I'm not letting that slide.
Have you told your parents all of your secrets from when you were a teen?  Never.
What’s the worst name your mom has ever called you?  She has implied that I am worthless in a million and one expressions.
What’s your stance on spooning?  It's cute, until a certain point. I prefer cuddling so I can face the other person :)
Do you currently want a new computer?  It'd be cool but I'm not too pressured to get a new one. Like I've said in previous surveys, I only ever use my personal laptop for taking surveys now. Spending 100k for a new laptop is just such an expensive way to take more surveys LOL
How would your parents react if you got a tattoo?  I feel like they would be nonchalant. I'm 25 and they mostly leave me be at this point + they have their own tattoos so why complain about mine?
Who is your truest friend?  Angela.
Who is your oldest friend?  Angela.
How long have you known them?  18 years.
Where are they right now?  I'm guessing she's at home.
Have you ever dated a friend of one of your siblings?  Nope.
Have you ever dated someone who had a child?  I have not.
What has been your biggest failure in life?  Hmm, probably my first and last relationship.
Do you trust yourself?  For the most part.
Would you ever consider getting an abortion, under any circumstances?  Honestly, no. If it happens, it happens; I support abortion as a choice but it's personally not for me.
What was the last bug you killed?  An ant, I think.
Do you prefer profile pictures by yourself of with someone else?  By myself.
Has a boyfriend’s/girlfriend’s parents ever gotten mad at you? Why?  No idea.
What is the funniest thing a child has ever said to you.  Not to me but my aunt once told me a funny story about my then-10 year old cousin; apparently the two of them had been going grocery shopping and were stopped at the alcohol section. My aunt, bless her heart, was asking my cousin what flavor of soju to get, to which my cousin exasperatedly replied, "I don't know mom, I'm 10." one of my favorite stories ever looooooool.

you perfectly summed up why i have anxiety going on twitter... i tried to only follow people who don't engage in things like this and just tweet wholesome things but sometimes i can still run into a toxic comment... it's especially bad under other official tweets where people from other fandoms join and spread their bullshit, and i just simply can't look at any of those tweets anymore. and people from our fandom do that too. i don't understand why anyone would make this their whole personality or life. i do understand wanting to support someone and wanting them to succeed but why do we have to degrade other people for that. why can't we say that multiple groups are successful. because they are. why does someone immediately think of 'it flopped' when 'A' group's song doesn't chart or sell like 'B' group's does? it's not a flop. people still love the music. why do we have to measure everything in numbers and charts. i miss the time when we just simply enjoyed music, and enjoyed what the artists did. i know not only the tannies but other artists would be really disappointed in fans who act like they are constantly in war with other fandoms. idols are friends too, and they support each other as much as they can. we should do the same. and i think especially with korean artist, when western media and the music industry still treats them the way they do.. we shouldn't try to 'gatekeep' them. if bts did it, others can too. and we should help them achieve what the artists want to achieve, because we are here to support them. and hell, if someone wants an award, our first thought shouldn't be 'no, you can't because xy already got that award and nobody else can have it', it should be: okay, so how can we make it work. this is still about numbers and charts, i know, but since these are important to so many artists, it should be important to us too. but not in the way of 'i'm going to try my best to help this artist win this award but not because i genuinely want them to win it, but because then i can go under another tweet and say my artist has this and yours doesn't'. and that's a really big problem with army too... sure, the tannies always said they appreciate fan voted awards a lot, but i feel like the majority of the fandom doesn't vote for the tannies. they vote so they can say we got this and the other fandom didn't. i think the music industry also tries to play into this and push this 'there can only be one' agenda and it's so fucked up... there are so many talented people out there and i wish we could just support them unconditionally and not try to tear each other's throat out every time something happens. i know the tannies wouldn't want this. they support so many other artists, so we can't we?
and i know the fandom loves to bring up their journey and how hard it was because they were accused of so many things and the music industry didn't want to acknowledge them and is still racist against asian artists, and that's why many armys are so protective of them.. and i don't know how i feel about this, because yes, they really built themselves up from nothing, and their journey is really beautiful. but that doesn't mean they have to be the only one to succeed.
I read your message and just went “yes! exactly. yep. literally.” I wholeheartedly agree with your takes on all of this. You perfectly described a huge problem in parts of this fandom, which is that horrific superiority complex of quite many. I just can’t grasp the idea of justifying this much arrogance because you’re being a fan of a boy group. That is.. not an achievement? Also – no one likes sore losers, yes, but same for conceited winners… or is that just me, I don’t know. In my eyes, it would have so much more impact to just lay back, enjoy the success, and remain humble about it. And also to regularly remember that bts’ success does not (or rather shouldn’t) affect your own life in the slightest.
I could probably write a whole essay about the whole fandom war thing. As someone who has absolutely no problem having bts as their ult group and wishing them all the best while simultaneously enjoying lots of other kpop artists, I can’t wrap my head around these very childish fights going on. Kind of a more sensitive issue for me since I feel personally addressed when there’s discourse about “multis” (the fact that there’s a derogatory term used for people who enjoy more than one artist.. think about that). Would never deny that other fandom’s don’t talk shit, but armys are certainly no angels either. Also it doesn’t matter who started, what does count is who ends this kindergarten behaviour.
To come to an end here: I agree with your music industry point and the inappropriate, narrow-minded approaches to kpop in general. As to your very last thought: … yeah. I literally muted the word “paved” on twitter, I think that’s saying enough

Happy, happy end of the weekend!
It's 22:30 now, and the weekend is almost over. I just want to pour out my feelings again (as I always do), so here it is.
Sometimes, I feel sad when I realise that things that used to excite me no longer hold the same meaning. It's as if I've finally let go, and while this realisation brings a sense of relief, it also leaves me feeling a bit sad. How can I explain it? For example, when I was in high school, I had a favourite group of singers, and I was so obsessed with them. I watched every TV show that featured them, bought their albums, and felt heartbroken when a member decided to leave the group. The funniest thing was that I used to wish that in the future, when I became an adult, had a more stable life and a partner, I would watch their concert with my partner.
But then, in my second year of university, I didn't really care about them anymore. I didn't follow their activities or even know they had released a new album. My attention had shifted because I was busy with other things. One day, I suddenly realised that this group I used to love so much no longer held the same meaning for me. Watching them was no longer as fun as it used to be, and whatever happened to that group didn't affect my feelings anymore. This group is still active now, but when another member left, it didn't even affect me. I didn't even know she left until I read someone's tweet about it.
Honestly, I feel relieved that whatever happens to this group doesn't affect me anymore. But at the same time, the memories of loving this group so much make me feel bittersweet. I think, "Oh, I used to love them so much, listened to their music 24/7, was so happy when I bought their albums, and was thrilled when they won awards." Now, I feel like I'm cutting ties with them because I don't find anything related to them fun anymore. While I'm happy that my obsession with them has ended, there's a strange feeling that I've moved on from them. They will always be something I treasure from the past. They are a part of my history, but not my present.
A part of my life has finally come to an end, and though I'm ready to embrace many better things, the reality is still somehow sad. Not being able to enjoy the things I used to be so obsessed with is a bittersweet feeling.
And I still feel like this nowadays. I used to really love a K-drama called Hospital Playlist. It is a slice-of-life drama that helped me get through the COVID phase, and it was, and still is, special to me. But I've moved on bit by bit from being totally obsessed. I rewatched it so many times in the past, and it's not even a romcom, it's my first time being so obsessed with a slice of life show. Even my friend told me yesterday that when Hospital Playlist 2 was still airing and even months after that, I was crazy obsessed. She said I couldn’t even leave home on the airing day. And yes, that’s the truth. I would take a shower, eat my dinner, finish all my on going projects and make sure I didn’t need to go to the toilet because I had to watch the drama on streaming at 8 pm, even though I don’t understand Korean. :'D
Probably because when the first few episodes of Hospital Playlist 2 was airing, I got infected with COVID, and it was the Delta variant. So, I was isolated in my bedroom for a month, and because of that, my obsession with Hospital Playlist was crazy, hahaha. I had a boyfriend at that time, but from what I remember, I kind of ditched him because of my love for Hospital Playlist. We had some problems too (anw this relationship was beyond repair at that time), and strangely my relationship problem wasn’t relevant to me at that time. I didn’t even care if he wanted to break up, that's how unhealthy my obsession was with Hospital Playlist. Last year, they released the Bluray of the drama after two years, and I bought it thinking the clips would make me as excited as I used to be, but it didn’t bring the same joy. I still felt a bit happy watching the Bluray clips, but I haven’t finished watching it until now because I have other things that excite me more.
So yeah, in life, I don’t think I can control to whom or what I fall for. By fall for, I mean like in life, we can fall for a person, a show, a group, a celebrity, an actor, an anime, and we can get super obsessed because we made them our whole personality to the point it affects our lives. But believe me, some obsessions are normal, and with time, if we know our limits and don't get overly obsessed, we'll let go of them. We might think, "Argh, I hate that I get too attached to this thing or this person. I want to detach so bad. I don't want them to affect my life," but the first thing we need to do is just to feel it, feel our emotion. I currently have something I'm so attached to that, to be honest, I feel hopeless at times because I want to detach asap. I hate that this thing affects my daily life, but I understand that every day I get better. Every day, I detach a little more, even if it's just 0.01%. I remember what my therapist said two years ago "You can't heal what you don’t feel." So I'm just going to feel it, even when I have to cry because of it, because I know this too shall pass. And maybe in the future, I'll have a new obsession. HAHAHA

"ENNEAD" by Mojito hiatus from June 29th to August 10th
Mojito broke her long twitter silence since late March today to seemingly announce that for health reasons, she is taking a short hiatus in July. ENNEAD will be on hiatus in Korean after today's update of S02E67, and will return on August 10th.
Tumblr media
Machine English translation: Hello, this is Mojito, who is serializing Ennead. Due to deteriorating conditions, I had time to recharge during July. I also wanted to avoid taking a break more than anyone else, but as time goes by, it's really not easy. We will recover quickly and see you on August 10th.
------ Seoul Comics also announced on the ENNEAD pages that yes, this is a hiatus:
Machine English translation: hello. This is Seoul Media Comics. <ENNEAD> has had time to recharge for the follow-up series. On August 10, 2023, Season 2 Episode 68 will be coming back to you, so we ask for your deep understanding! I am always grateful to the readers who love <ENNEAD>, and I will greet you with more interesting stories after the hiatus. Please send a lot of messages of support to the author. :) thank you.
-----
A number of the translations of ENNEAD, including English, Chinese, French, German, and Japanese, are behind the Korean updates, so it's likely those will continue updating until they run out of episodes. English is 6 episodes behind the Korean, French and German are both 9 episodes behind. Given 1 month = 3 episodes of ENNEAD, those translations shouldn't run out of things to put out during the hiatus. We'll see what happens!
Mojito also seemingly said back in March that season 2 itself is complete, it just needs to be published. But that should mean she doesn't need to take a hiatus during it (or can take breaks at her leisure, anyway), so it's possible it's not complete in some fashion, or this tweet didn't mean season 2 is actually complete. If the season is complete, and is in the hands of the translators, it's possible ENNEAD will come back in August and the translations will all be three episodes closer to the Korean. Or there could be a forced three episode hiatus after the other translations catch up to S02E67. But we'll see! S02E61 should release in English on June 30th, at 00:00 EST.
If you'd like help reading ENNEAD, I've got a Tumblr post and carrd, and a post on finding community here.
The Italian release and the English physical release of ENNEAD are still scheduled for November!

Hi, I came across your channel because of the reverse colorism video. I love it so, so much. But as I watched more of your videos I realized I have a question that I really do need to ask. Are you actually, as in both mom and dad, undeniably Black? This may seem completely random, especially given your content, but unfortunately there have been too many instances with content creators who focus on Black women not actually being Black, or even women. I don’t know if you’re old enough to remember this/were on twitter at the time but there was a very, very popular twitter account that mostly tweeted ~relatable~ tweets centered towards Black women, and it was revealed to be a yt gay guy, and ever since then I’ve always wanted to make sure I know, before blindly trusting someone to speak from somewhere that could be considered my shared narrative. It really is like the hair companies that are all Chinese or from somewhere else overseas and use the faces of Black women to just sell a product. If you are, I’m sorry if my ask sounds like your videos inclined me to doubt you, because that isn’t the case at all. It’s because your videos resonated with me that I want to know for sure. The videos are detailed, accessible, and enjoyable. I really do hope you’re Black. Also, I don’t know if you take video requests, but I do think this topic would make for something interesting to talk about. There is another youtuber who recently went viral for a video about hygiene and Black women, and I went to read the comments out of curiosity. The amount of self proclaimed or obviously non-Black (mostly white people) who were giving anecdotes about their experiences with proximity to this issue, that they noticed it but “didn’t have the words to explain what they were witnessing” either in real life or on social media, or even one commenter who said she was a 30 year old white woman that subscribed to Black women to learn about hygiene, because apparently, in her 30 years of life, she didn’t know how until she came across these women on youtube. Education about a topic is one thing, but something about the comments felt more… dehumanizing? Objectifying? Using Black women for a purpose. I recalled my Korean ex-boyfriend not finding it necessary to put on lotion after he showered when we first met, and the difference it made after I convinced him to do it. My white ex-friend learning to use conditioner instead of just Dial 5 shampoo to make her hair feel softer because of me. How they both objectified and sexualized me, too. I’m not sure what exactly it was about the comments from unrelated people that made me grimace. But the first thing that came to mind when I realized how stripped bare and prodded at those comments made me feel, was those white researchers lurking and posting to lsa while pretending to be Black women for a paper. I hope you can understand why I need to ask if you’re Black.
I absolutely understand where you’re coming from with this question, and seeing as I don’t show my face on YouTube you don’t have to feel bad for asking. I’m absolutely 100% a black woman, full blown African American with a black mother and father and 4 black grandparents. If you go to my instagram (if you use instagram) @vintage.coochie there’s a highlight titled “Me✨” with a few pictures of myself.
There are a lot of non-black content creators that pander towards black women or as you said, borderline cosplay as black women because they see how underrepresented we are and use that to gain followers, views, and sometimes even money. So your concerns are very valid!!
As for your video request, it’s definitely something I’d consider writing about. I myself have been at the hands of being looked at like an artifact by white people. Whether it’s a teacher being fascinated by the fact that I articulate myself well, or my white friends being mesmerized by me telling them my hair care routine. It’s as if I’m something for them to study and take notes on like an animal in the wild, and not a living functioning human. Very dehumanizing indeed. You’ve given me something to think about for sure. Thank you!!💕✨

So earlier, I watched "Bangbang Con" one of BTS' Festa celebration for their 10th anniversary. It was my first ever BangBang Con as a baby army. I laughed, danced, sing, and cried a lot earlier but overall I really had fun.
Tumblr media
I've only been an army for a year now, but this is my 2nd Festa since I started stanning them around May 2022, and was able to witness June 2022 Festa where I thought they're going to break up as a band/will be on hiatus. (TW: June 2022 Festa dinner)
Tumblr media
I really did cry that time during their June 2022 Festa dinner even though I was a fan for a month then, because I thought they're breaking up for good - only to realize that they have to embark on their journey as solo musicians, even only for a little while, then to complete their mandatory military service, and hopefully come back stronger together by 2025.
I never really expected this from myself though because when I was younger, I wasn't really into anything KPop. I don't hate it at that time don't get me wrong, I just didn't see myself liking it plus I always thought I'll never understand korean anyways - but fast forward to now, I can read hangul (I only understand the translation of basic words, I still have to learn the language yet), and a big simp for Bangtan Sonyeondan (also known as BTS).
Tumblr media
(L-R) Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Kim Taehyung, Min Yoongi, Park Jimin, Jeon Jungkook, Jung Hoseok
As soon as I got into KPop which 2 of my bffs highly influenced me with, I started collecting their merch such as albums, photocards, photofolios - I am a big Jeon Jungkook bias (my biases are Jungkook and Yoongi, bias wrecker is Taehyung) to the point I even bought this exact Nike Jordan shoes he was wearing from their PTD concert!
Tumblr media
I also downloaded important KPop apps such as WeVerse, VLive (we miss you), Stationhead, BTS In The Seom (which I am very much addicted to before) - voting apps even! I also bought fan merch items such as shirts, jackets, bucket hats, and bags. I attend cup sleeve events sometimes, then I got into Twitter BNS (I don't really sell though, I only buy/trade photocards), and the most vital part of all KPop life - STAN TWITTER. (Yes, the profile below is my stan twt account)
Tumblr media
Yes I am on army stan twitter. It is the best and the worst part of being a KPop stan. Most days they love you, most days they hate you but on both days I'm paid though HAHAHAHA.
My friend who has been a KPop stan ever since she was a little girl told me not to enter stan twitter because it can really be toxic - which is true as I've witnessed it already. But one of the perks of being on stan twitter is that it feels like a community, a safe space for you to declare how much you love and adore your ult bias group (mine being BTS), and just tweet your appreciation towards your fandom/favorite group. Also, to support them by voting, buying, and streaming their old/new releases.
Yes, there are days where in stan twitter can be too much, but at the end of the day it's still a safe space for me to express how much I appreciate my idols without being judged by people who hates KPop or people who aren't really into it.
So, going back - I watched BangBang Con earlier and I cried a lot because I realized how much I love BTS. I already know BTS way back, but I didn't become a fan until last year. I do feel some regret not knowing them when I was younger, but you know what they say, you meet them when you need them the most.
The relationship between me and BTS may be parasocial, but BTS did help me a lot. So let me tell you how I met them.
Last year, around May, I started using Facebook reels whenever I get bored watching KDramas or any series in particular. I deleted my TikTok app then so I decided to just watch through FB reels just to get me entertained until I have the energy to continue watching whichever series I was watching at the time. I stumbled across BTS videos a lot but I always scroll up because I wasn't a fan then.
Until I came across a clip of this VLive of Taehyung, Jimin, and JHope eating (this was after their Permission To Dance concert in Las Vegas) on FB reels laughing on a "Yoongi, marry me" comment.
Tumblr media
The "Yoongi marry me" line has been a long standing inside joke of BTS. At first, since I wasn't really familiar with any of the members, when JHope read the comment and the maknaes (youngest) laughed while they were eating, I really thought he's Yoongi - until I was able to memorize their features and names, I realized that Yoongi isn't even on this Ppyong live.
I slowly became interested then with BTS. Whenever I scroll through my FB reels or Instagram reels, a lot of BTS clips from their shows such as Bon Voyage, DalBang (Run BTS), In The Soop, Bangtan Bomb, and etc. were already plaguing my account. Not until I saw this POV edit of Jungkook using PSY and Yoongi's "That That" that really got me locked into BTS.
Tumblr media
Since then, I already became a hardcore Jungkooker - saving his photos and videos left and right, trying to get to know details about him by researching about him - but mostly I got to know him by watching clips on Facebook/Instagram reels.
Since most of Bangtan videos and clips are really funny, whenever I get curious as to what happened to the whole thing - I immediately search it on Youtube. Until my friend told me to watch "Run BTS", bangtan's variety show. At the time, it was only available on VLive, but you can watch it now in Youtube ;). Since I started watching DalBang, I fell in love with the tannies more. VMinHope opened the door, Jungkook closed it, but BTS locked it.
Until then, I became one of BTS' biggest fan. There was never a day where I don't talk about BTS or go crazy about them especially when they release new songs. I always see to it that I'd buy their new albums (of course I save up for it or make sure I still have extra money to buy one), and watch their content - maybe not on a daily, but whenever I have the time or whenever I feel like it.
I'm not being OA, but BTS really did help me heal a lot. I know I did all the work, but the tannies really became my inspiration to do better and be better. I know they're just 7 men from South Korea who doesn't even know I exist, I wasn't even there when they debuted in 2013, I can't even attend Min Yoongi's AgustD tour in Bangkok at all because it got sold out immediately, I haven't watched them (OT7) perform live, I do have 10 years of content to catch up on - but the more I got to know bangtan, the more I adore them. The more I listen to their songs and understand the meaning behind each lyric, the more I love them.
I cried a lot while watching BangBang Con because they made me feel like I have them to lean onto. When the world seems to big and wide and I feel alone, they make me feel that I'm not alone. When my emotions get the best of me, they can turn all those feelings around.
I may not see them or touch them or even talk to them, but I hope they know how many people they've saved. And I'm one of them.
BTS will forever hold a special place in my heart. Yeah, I may not have been there during their debut in 2013, I may not have experienced their HYYH era, or Wings era, or HYYH era, or Butter era - but as Yoongi said, "don’t feel regretful that you weren’t there since our debut. the day when you first met us, is the day we debuted."
Bangtan Sonyeondan saved me and healed me. And I will forever be grateful for them.

It's the music, man!
The main reason I was attracted to Stray Kids is that their music is great! They really make good music. I've seen people refer to haters who say their music is noise. I've read comments that the members can't do whatever it is they do (sing, dance, rap, etc.) And there is always the ever-present "my group is better than your group" bullshit.
The main reason I wasn't interested in k-pop back in the 80s and 90s is that what reached my ears all sounded the same. And it was similar to the American pop music that was around. All of it was blah!
I am one of those masters of song lyrics who can pull out a lyric for almost any activity. I've been known to break out in song over a flat tire or bad weather. I love words and wordplay. I can remember all kinds of lyrics (when I'm not trying, of course) and I really connect with the story of the song. I can't remember much else, but you can always count on me for a verse or two.
I can't do that with Stray Kids. Since I don't understand Korean and I can't sit around watching subtitled music videos all day, I often just listen to the music itself. Their music is very intricate and interesting. The blending of genres is very exciting. The use of different environmental sounds (horns honking, birds tweeting) is fascinating. I am in awe of Chan's dexterity with sounds! Their ability to build tension and suspense in the music is amazing. Listening to their songs is like going on a roller coaster.
Of course, they're not masters yet. They are still young and learning, testing and tweaking, but they're better than anything else I've heard in a long time! And observing their experimentation and growth is so satisfying! I look forward to riding again.

My name is Mai.
In Japanese it's combination of “ma/真” meaning “genuine”, “real” and “ai/愛” meaning “love”, and “affection”.
Before that, here's my introduction.
I'm in the age of 20s, and I go by she/her. Zodiac sign? Taurus. Current MBTI? ISTJ. Enneatype? 6. Hogwarts house? Slytherin. Godly parent? Poseidon. What else?
My mother language is Bahasa Indonesia. But I use English, and Javanese as well. Also, I can read hangeul (한글) although I don't completely know how to talk using Korean.
꒱ ˚ ⁺ ⟡ ̫ @/criedsanthemum is considered as a cyber account, where I'm active the most. I'm loud when I talk about Yoon Jeonghan, Seventeen, and girlgroups that I stan. I also tweet work-related things, and rant about editing sometimes. I don't mind to talk about anything as long as it's appropriate and not beyond certain boundaries.
꒱ ˚ ⁺ ⟡ ̫ @/spitfiremai is where sometimes I drop the pictures I take, movie quotes that I like, my paintings, or random pages from books I read. In short, it's my archive account.

Do we share similarities?
My music genres are mostly about breakup songs, ballad, and sad songs. But I do love the upbeats as well. I listen to K-Pop, bands, ballad, indie, local songs, anything. I'm not really picky. I'm a big time listener of Maisie Peters, Seventeen, Niki, CHVRCHES, Hey Violet, and Korean girlgroups; I love them all but I love Oh My Girl, LE SSERAFIM, and Red Velvet the most.
Well, since there are so many of them, you can just visit my playlists instead.
There are a lot to mention about my favourite series and movies, to make it brief let me tell you my favourite genres are including: fantasy, romcom, historical, mystery, crime, and thriller. I don't watch horror movies.

Hey! Asking this genuinely, but what is the issue with yourlove_army’s translation this time around? (I know they’ve mistranslated stuff in the past — the one about Jimin enlisting was especially egregious.)
As far as I can tell this time the disagreement is just between “Why did you come?” vs “Why did they all come?”, which honestly to me sound like two near-identical shades of the same sentiment. The original Korean has no pronouns, so it could be either singular or plural, right? Translator’s interpretation. I can see why someone would understand it as plural (yourlove_army’s explanation, saying “Hobi hyung is here too” and taking that “too” to infer plural in the next sentence) and why others would understand it as just referring to one person (minggukieology’s post on here). Having accepted that ambiguity, what is the issue? Is it “they” vs “you”, ie. third person vs second person? But why? What difference does it actually make to the meaning of the sentence? Or is it the addition of “all”? Sure, it’s a small liberty that the translator took, but “they all” and “you all” (or “y’all”) are all very common constructions in English and, once again, they don’t alter the fundamental meaning of the sentence at all. People can and do use “you all” (or “they all”) to address only two people. I have genuinely been trying to follow the conversation/drama all day and the more I read up on it the more puzzled I become.
To me it just sounds like yourlove_army is just one of those translators who favours sentence flow in the target language over grammatical minutiae, while Jimin95themoon1 favours the latter. And THAT’S a debate that’s been going on in actual professional translator circles since the dawn of time (source: I am a translator) (not Korean), so starting an entire fandom callout based on it seems… God. Silly? To put it lightly. And again, I have to stress, it does not seem to me like the meaning of the sentence was fundamentally altered in this case. No foul play at all here.
Is it because Taekookers have been using that translation to imply that JK was annoyed at having Jihope there? Well, that implication was nowhere to be found in the original tweet. I know we all hate Taekookers but we can’t be jumping accounts left and right just because Taekookers love to ascribe extra tone and meaning to otherwise innocuous translations.
I have been following Jimin95themoon1 since forever but I also have to roll my eyes a little at their endless insistence that yourlove_army come explain themself on a Twitter Space. Maybe not everyone is comfortable speaking in public and/or wants to spend their Sunday fighting with people online. Huge “DEBATE ME” energy, honestly left a bad taste in my mouth.
Sorry, long post. But yeah. I am genuinely puzzled by the events of today. Is there something key I am missing?
(Once again, not excusing yourlove_army’s past mistranslations, inb4 someone brings it up. Just genuinely confused why THIS specific translation has caused this much of a ruckus.)
Maybe this post will help
