Introducing Spathi Eleftheriou (spah-th-ee eh-leh-f-theh-ree-oo), a Fire Emblem Three Houses OC for @fe-oc-week! It's been a hot minute since I tried to design an OC, and this is my first time for a Fire Emblem game (pls be nice im bby) (pls clap). It's been a lot of fun! They're def not a self-insert by any means, but they do share some aspects of my personality and ethnic background.

I know I'm super late to this, I felt so inspired by everyone's wonderful characters this year (esp @peachiehambo's Yoona and @wild-moss-art's Moss). Couldn't resist!!

More about Spathi after the cut!

Spathi hails from the seaside city of Alatisitou (ah-lah-tee-see-too) in southwestern Almyra, on windswept plains where wheat flows in golden waves, and scents of sage and marjoram carry forever on the wind.

They're the only child of a warm, close-knit family of farmers situated on the city outskirts, among the tumbling cliffs and endless highland valleys that eventually cascade down to the ocean. It's a fitting home for a kid born with dreams in their feet and salt spray in their hair; infinite possibilities and a wide, sun-soaked sky always offering new opportunities.

Growing up, they'd often be found spending their free time exploring the arcadian landscape, climbing through old ruins and cyprus groves, and occasionally ambling around the city proper to watch the sleek trading ships ply wares from far-flung lands.

They tend to be quiet and observant in public, but are extremely energetic, talkative, and personable with their friends, who would readily attest that Spathi is an indispensable one-person hype squad. You couldn't ask for someone better to gas you up when you're feeling down.

Their family grows wheat and olives in their humble fields and orchards for export and local sale. Spathi devotes themself to their family's well-being and works hard to ensure good harvests.

That's kinda all I've got so far, lol. Might add more to this later as other ideas come to mind! Some other broad stats for Spathi, in no particular order:

Their name translates to 'Sword of Freedom'

They're non-binary, their preferred pronouns are they/them and sometimes she/they

They're 19 years old when they enroll at Garreg Mach

They're 6'2" tall and are somewhat clumsy

Their favorite treat is mastic, a chewable resin from native trees with a bitter flavor that gives way to refreshing notes of pine and cedar (also delicious steeping into a cup of cool water!)

They love to play the mandolin and pan flute, and they love to sing

They have a soft and sometimes raspy voice

They're a good sailor, though the family could never afford a ship larger than a catboat.

They fucking love boardgames dude!!!

At the academy, they have strong proficiencies with Sword, Faith, and Reason, and weak proficiency with Authority.

So, @lysistra was nice enough to tag me to name four albums I’ve been listening to intensively in recent weeks (thank you!). It was a tough decision and I literally lost sleep over this, so everyone please be nice to me or I’ll never do this again.

And they are:

#1: Sweeping Promises: Good Living Is Coming For You. Their debut, Hunger For A Way Out, was an essential Pandemic Autumn jam and I was drawn to it because of the d.i.y.-ethos album cover. I listened to that album the most out of any others that season. Now this came out with very little heads-up and I reached for it immediately, effectively taking me back to those Pandemic feels. They stuck with the same post-punk-driven, Pylon-influenced formula and these ten songs come with a slightly dirty, muddy splash in their production values. There’s a few new tricks that vocalist Lira Mondal has tried out and they show. They’ve also retained that d.i.y. method of creating records throughout all of their projects and their entire discography. Still not enough? There’s the orphaned single “Pain Without A Touch” and their other just-as-awesome project Splitting Image. And look at this CMYK artwork?!

#2: Free Love: Luxury Hits. I’m elated to say that I’m the only one here amongst my mutuals who know about this Scottish electronic duo, and that started with Apero, a record that stamps my move into my current residency. Formerly Happy Meals (because they can’t be bothered naming themselves after cancerous toxicity), this married couple have that magic touch in their sound that no one else has. They have such a special soul that could take you to another world; one that could’ve possibly existed but per chance could be a reality. Luxury Hits contain two personal favorites / footnotes of mine: “Tomorrow Could Be Heaven”, one denoting an Autumn Sunday trip out to Greenpoint, and “Pushing Too Hard”, part of a soundtrack to a colorful and vivid but complicated Summer. The latter is a charmer thanks to Suzanne Rodden’s charismatic vocals, and any release of theirs is super high-resolution, sweet colors, and lush sounds. I still hope to keep Free Love as a personal gem only I can have to myself. Maybe not after you see this.

#3: Kontravoid: Too Deep. Whenever I’m not blasting hardcore music while busting my ass at the gym, I turn to synthwave instead. After hearing the electrically-charged sounds of Kontravoid, I’m becoming more a fan. This all started when Boy Harsher featured Kontra's-“Maskerade” on a one-and-done post and the rest was game over. The original full-length has some severe high-voltage bangers (“Turn Away”, “So It Seems v.2”) and some superior anthems included (“Too Deep”, “Cost Of Life”). If you’re headed for the remix album, go on right to Fractions’ version of “So It Seems”, then tell me that you didn’t lose your shit over it because it’s that crazy.

#4: Black Marble: A Different Arrangement. It’s Summer, and you know what that means: it’s time to reach for the record that one of my fellow dee-jays opened my eyes to. Black Marble gives me a elevated feeling of superiority thanks to not only its art direction but also its frigid beats and moderately warm but lush-as-heaven synth work. Chris Stewart’s project is so good that I saw them twice: one at Brooklyn’s Warsaw opening for Cold Cave, and closing out Sacred Bones’ 15th at Queens’ Knockout Center. Both amazing experiences. Bonus points for its’ Eighties sentiment which reminds me of Dead Or Alive’s “Brand New Lover”, and double that for being the soundtrack of me moving into a new neighborhood.

And…because I can’t settle for four albums, I’ll throw in a bonus:

#5: SpaceGhostPurrp: IntoXXXicated. Holy shit. Talk about a venomous Naga-grade pit-viper of a rap release. This has to be the most exotic bars mixtape I ever heard. If you’re looking for a good drugs, money, and sex record? Well...then here it is! It’s super hot.

roommates are a given, i think hikari dorm is perfectly balanced (chaotic) in its own way and that even tho the 3 of them are so different they also manage to get along really well. i cant take them seriously at all and i think thats part of their charm lol. they're all such Characters individually that together it just feels Normal. i can imagine the three of them sitting around the bathtub, kanata splashing around while hiyori paints his own nails and rinne gossips. its like if the golden girls were anime boys but theres 3 instead of 4 and none of them are divorced or widowed. so really nothing like the golden girls but im sure u understand...maybe

nihihi dorm is actually tied for my fave with gender dorm god i love them a ton, i think in part because i love nikis relationship with hiiro and how hes adopted him as his own younger brother, but also hinata. i think about niki cooking for them and having them try new dishes and them having movie nights or staying up all night playing games and even tho niki has work the next morning hes like (exaggerated sigh) fine ONE more game...but he loves it

i love both rinne and niki (and crazybs in general honestly) doting relationship on 2wink and im so happy they keep getting collabs .. in case they decide to give us more crumbs... plz. they feel like younger siblings to them. rinne especially makes me so soft because past his initial impression of being a bad influence and generally just pushing his luck on how much he can tease, it always feels like hes looking out for the two

otherwise i also rly enjoy how they both interact within their own circle (i feel like ive been wanting a nikis kitchen tour for the past 2000 years. i hope we get framed picture of izumi in one of the 3*s).

i rly like how rinne gets along with his kouhai both in asobi and craftmonster bc of the attitude he takes on, ive mentioned it in another post but w/ the former especially he rly just allows himself to be playful so much so that it almost takes the kids off-guard bc theyre like what..hes not as scary as we thought he'd be at all. i think the best rinne friendships are the ones where they set those prejudices aside and dont take him seriously at all lol bc that's when he rly starts to feel comfortable. this grown ass man running around playing games and doing arts n crafts with a bunch of 15-17 y/os (and shu i guess) is a funny mental image and it rly feels like he can let himself loose. conversely i also love when he's exasperated with his juniors bc then hes like oh right im an adult i need to set an example.. this is about U chill yellow

on the other hand i like how niki interacts with ppl a lot more "serious" than him i.e ibara, natsume bc he tends to like..soften them? ppl cant help but let their guard down around niki hes just.... himself. like even if theyre initially wary they grow to be like "oh wait this guy's really nice what the fuck"

i particularly like nikis kitchen circle bc its ppl you usually wouldnt see interact with niki but u can tell they want to impress him. its so sweet nikis just some guy who wants to share his love for cooking. also thinking about the difference between how ibara would interact with rinne and niki (harsher with rinne bc hes his Boss whereas with niki he's more accommodating, that one gordon ramsey meme thats like u donkey vs oh oh dear) is funny so even if theres not a lot of interactions for them i want to think ibara would let niki get away with just about anything

AND NIKI AND TETORA...IVE ALREADY DISCUSSED THIS A FEW TIMES THOUGH... i have a huge soft spot for them. ritsu too. they get like 2 interactions (sweets hunter story, craftmonsters recent gacha) but ritsus humor is just so DRY and u can see niki be like (cogs turning in his head) Whar? its really silly ALSO HE CALLS HIM NIKIPYON....IS THAT NOT PERFECT... i need them to be friends

i like niki and mayois friendship, but its admittedly not my favorite; i like how niki feels like he can trust mayoi implicitly and how he tries to make him comfortable too — i think theyre both quite similar irt self image/esteem although they both go about it in different ways. their interactions can be sweet but one thing that stops me from enjoying them fully is how mayoi always seems kind of uncomfortable (and niki seems unaware of how/why he's uncomfortable) ;_; i hope that in the future the writers can let mayoi be more at peace around him, it'd be sweet!!

and atp i feel like ive talked enough about hiiro and rinne for it to not warrant having its own little ramble section here 😭

Ranking the “mostly white + 1 main color and maybe gold” designs because I’m trying to collect my thoughts and see which I want to redesign. Also, I’m only going to ranking ones that are currently in game (both because I’m taking how the gameplay interacts with the design into account and because I think lore + execution of lore should be taken into account when judging designs), so no Susannah.

Disclaimer: I’m trying my best to look at these objectively, but this is still art and my subjective biases will probably factor in. I’m not trying to convince anyone to feel the same way as me about these designs. Feel free to argue why you think something should be placed higher or lower. Also, spoilers lie ahead

S tier (excellent, wouldn’t change a thing)-

Strategic placement of black, more battle suit like parts saves all the parts from blending together

Keeps bits of the more mech-like armor seen earlier in game. Helps her look thematically consistent with the rest of Kiana’s designs

Nice range of values. The strong red cape really helps the white dress (?) stand out, while the little splashes of orange help keep it feel unified

Lovely evolution of the Void Drifter design

In actual battle, her mostly white outfit saved her from getting lost in all the glowy fire

I think having most of the colors being reflected off her is a fun application of her moon motif

Lines up well with the lore

Free pass on just wearing a regular dress since in lore, she was never a fighter

White dress with splashes of paint on it plays into the “Griseo is like a blank canvas that takes on other people’s colors” motif nicely

The dark blues and black are eye catching and contrast nicely with her dress and hair

A tier (good design, minor changes could make it a great design)

So the thing about white is though it is used as a wedding color in the west, in a lot of East Asian countries, it’s actually used as a funeral color. Idk if that was hoyo’s intention here, but the double meaning is fun none the less

The purple of the dress and pink of the hair keep the suit looking vibrant and colorful

Same thing with Flamescion where all her skills are very bright and colorful (mostly in origin form? I think that’s what it’s called?), so I think the white keeps her stand out

There is very little variation in tone between the pink and purple. One of them needs to be more saturated

I feel like it could use more variation in fabric texture

B Tier (good design, muddled lore)

Would be ranked higher if I didn’t have to google why this battlesuit exists. Her in game intro was messy

Has the unfortunate timing of being introduced in the middle of a bunch of other lore dumps and buried underneath the more important to the plot ones. I think it’s introduction would be much more powerful if it was just Rita becoming the Herrscher of domination (I am willing to elaborate via asks)

Like, imagine if she got some sort of a string weapon instead of the sword? I think that’d be neat

So basically I was just confused by the space theme till I googled it (and based on my Reddit findings, I wasn’t the only one)

Beginning of the not looking like a battle suit era, but the inclusion of gold bits and a couple under layers keep it from being a full departure from the usual motifs, but it does lack the mech bits

I think there’s more Rita battle suits that lack the mech bits than actually have the, so I’m fine with them being missing here

Good tone variation, clear segmentation

Elegant design for an elegant lady

C tier (saved by the gameplay)-

Her knight for straight up looks like lingerie, but her guardian form looks great

Having her armor switch to black in guardian form was a good call

Unlike Rita, most of Durandal’s battlesuits look like armor, so it’s weird this one doesn’t.

I’m ok with the mostly white color palette since it contrasts nicely with the horse

Speaking of the horse- I have no idea where he came from, but it looks sick so I’m completely fine with it being here

Though for a rewrite, I think a potentially fun explanation would be “unlocking both of her stigmata allowed her to use a divine key at its full potential and said key just so happens to have a horse/armor mode” (cuz if you need weird shit to happen, Vill-V is always a valid excuse)

It’s inconsistency in comparison to Durandal’s other designs + my very mixed feelings about her being the original Kiana and that process of awakening the Kaslana stigmata are mostly why I put her bellow Rita. I don’t really have any huge problems with this design

D tier (even great gameplay can’t save this)-

So for the design where Kiana is “no longer just reflecting others light, and instead becoming the sun itself” (or something like that), the decided to give Kiana the coolest color palette we’ve ever seen her in, take away her signature orange and Himeko’s red, and have her primary colors be Mei’s purple and Brongo’s blue… ok

Yes, I know blue stars exist and that they’re very hot. Honkai is a story set on earth though so it’d make more sense if she was becoming like our sun, not some one billions of light years away

The inclusion of HoV’s magenta accents is kinda nice though

That is a junior prom dress, not battle suit (the Fanny packs are based though). Where’d her mech parts go?

Instead of the skirt and wings by legs, I think it may of looked like a cleaner transition if the put wings it the same shape/area as HoF’s cape

After seeing how brights and glowy her abilities are, I’m ok with this design being mostly white

This designs just a whole lot of “ok, but what does that have to do with Kiana?” Why the junior prom dress? Why the flowers? Why she so urple?

F tier (the only one on this list I actively dislike)-

Since I’ve been pretty vocal about my dislike of Dr.MEI, I just want to start by making this clear: I like Raiden Mei. She’s cool. I don’t just have some anti-Mei bias. She’s at the bottom of this list though because she deserved so much better than this design and story (and I’ve been using her a lot in ER lately, so I’ve had a lot of time staring at her design)

Designs like these are why I have the “wait till it’s introduced in story” rule. I was sorta just “meh” on this design until I saw it in game

I hate this designs introduction. It’s just another case of the writers retconning the PE and glorifying the flame chasers/ forgetting why they existed in the first place

Mihoyo, Elysia’s been dead for 50,000 years! You can stop shooting her now!

Also another instance of Mihoyo forgetting Mei is an independent person and centering her narrative around her relationship to another character. Why’s it gotta be about becoming like Elysia and the other flame chasers instead of acknowledging their mistakes and learning from them so Mei can avoid their pitfalls and forge her own ideal future

Mei is so much fun to watch when she’s thinking for herself and forging her own path, so it’s frustrating to watch the narrative force her to walk down the path Elysia laid.

If I keep talking about this point I’m gonna go into rewrite/fanfic territory, so on to the design from a more technical standpoint:

There is next to no variation in tone (aside from her hair). Everything is just incredibly light. Her abilities in game are also incredibly pale, so she ends up getting lost in all the flashy lights

There’s so much texture throughout the outfit that there doesn’t really end up being a place for the eyes to rest

Though I understand why she’s blue, I think it’s inclusion was incredibly clunky. Including it as gems on the outfit or the underside of the skirt(?) may have helped the distribution look more even

If I went with the underside of the skirt being blue, I’d probably also say make her boots black (or just give her black tights or leggings with white ankle boots)

Orange (or at least Kiana’s shade of orange), blue, and purple are admittedly hard colors to make look good together, but there really needs some orange in there. Maybe sort of a deeper rose gold could’ve worked

^These things just need to go. The white skirt(?) over white boots just causes the whole bottom half to bleed together. Having so much weight on the bottom of the outfit also causes her movements to look incredibly clunky. Removing these parts would help to streamline it a bit

I like the idea of Mei sorta becoming Kiana’s dragon, but the wings and tail in the skirt get lost due to all the overlapping textures, and the wing sword doesn’t do anything. Girl has 3 swords but only uses 1. Why

Rather than basing her off a western dragon, I think they should’ve made her an eastern dragon. (Turn her HoT hands into Claws instead of wings, keep the “tail” of the skirt streamlined with a little flair at the bottom, turn her HoT horns into antlers). This way, they could keep the iconic elements of HoT while reframing them into something positive (for those who don’t know: it’s a lot more nuanced and complicated than I can really explain here, but eastern dragons are generally associated with good fortune)

So, ya- that’s all I got for now. If I left anyone off the list, they’re ranked lower than HoO for being that forgettable just let me know and I’ll add them on. Again, this post is mostly just me trying to collect my thoughts

since i wrote more of a headcanon list of what both revalink's bedtime routines look like on this post for @noraiir-arts, i'll do a drabble kinda thing that's like a moment in their routines for 15 lol

🛌 15. Going through their bedtime routine.

"i just don't see why it's necessary," link says, watching revali cut open a second sheet mask. he already has one on his own face, carefully spread and applied across his gorgeous tan skin. link thinks it makes revali look like he's shedding a layer. "your skin's already nice."

"how do you think i keep it nice?" revali says, carefully removing the sheet mask out of its packaging. "my skin's very sensitive, you know, it requires quite a lot of maintenance to keep it this refreshed and clear. you're lucky that you only need to shower and splash your face with water to keep it that way. who knows how you survived using 3-in-1 body wash your entire life."

"hey, i didn't know that it was bad for you," link grumbles and crosses his arms. "i thought it was more efficient to have it all in one than have to buy it all separately..."

revali rolls his eyes. "mhm. now lay down, so i can put the face mask on you."

link complies easily, the tension leaving his body and his eyes falling shut as soon as he feels revali's fingers, gentle and warm across his jaw. then suddenly, he feels a layer of ice spreading across his face and he squeaks, flinching.

"stay still," revali says, tapping link's thigh.

"it's cold!" link whines back, squirming. "you didn't tell me the face masks were cold!"

"they're cold because i keep them in the fridge and your body is a piece of the sun that fell onto earth," revali replies. "of course it's going to feel cold."

link continues to shiver until he finally gets used to the feeling of the mask on his face. revali continues adjusting its application, smoothing or stretching it out in some places until he's satisfied with the way it sits. "there we go," revali says softly. "good?"

"mhm," link says. he can barely move his face with the mask on. "how are you able to talk with this shit on?"

"you get used to it," revali replies. he lies down beside link on the bed and intertwines their fingers together. "now, we wait for thirty minutes and let the serum sink in."

"does it really take that long?" link says, nose wrinkling. the mask shifts due to the movement and he reaches up to smooth it back down.

"i've fallen asleep with them on before. but it's better to let it stay on longer than shorter so the skin can absorb it."

link hums and they both fall silent. with their fingers still intertwined, revali rubs his thumb against the base of link's. their room is quiet, except for the sound of music playing softly from link's phone. he complains plenty about how revali takes way too long to get ready for bed, but moments like this where he can participate in it with revali are link's favorite.

"thank you," revali says suddenly.

"hm? for what?" link says. he struggles to enunciate it; talking with a sheet mask on is difficult.

"for doing this with me. you didn't have to." revali's voice is quiet, almost shy.

link wants to smile under the sheet mask, but he doesn't want it to get messed up again so he resists. "it's something you like to do, so i wanna do it with you too."

he feels revali squeeze his hand, a silent "i love you". "just don't fall asleep," revali says out loud instead.

this time, link can't resist smiling. "no promises."

💧 17. Link has never seen Revali cry, so when he does, Link struggles with how to react.

when link comes home, the house is quiet. which is usually how it is, even if revali is home before him, but at least his boyfriend is being quiet somewhere where link can see him as soon as he comes in. at least revali will call back when link announces he's home, but he hasn't and it's making him nervous.

"'vali," link calls, slipping his shoes off and pushing them onto the shoe rack they keep by the door. "where are you~!" still no response. it puts link on edge immediately. "'vali?"

revali isn't in the living room or the kitchen, so link moves further into the house. he's not in the office or in the backyard, but his car was parked in the driveway so he has to be home. the last place revali would be is the bedroom, so there link goes.

but he's not prepared for the sight before him when he does.

revali is seated on the edge of the bed with a leg tucked underneath him, a look of despair and tears marring his face. he turns his head to look up at link when he hears him enter the room, but says nothing, staring and tears continuing to streak down his face.

link feels like his lungs have been severed from his esophagus, the air he's so desperately trying to breathe in blowing his chest up like a balloon instead. he's never seen revali like this; revali, whose natural facial expression is a scowl and narrowed eyes. or revali, who reserves his softest, most loving looks upon link. this expression on revali's face now... it feels like the world has fallen out of balance.

he knows he should go to revali, hold him tight and close, and comfort him like revali would do for him, but link can't move. he's rooted to one spot, eyes wide but unable to tear his gaze away from revali.

link's throat is dry, but he gulps and still attempts to speak. "you okay?"

for a moment, revali continues to stare. then he sniffs and wipes his eyes with the back of his hand. "yeah, i'm fine," he mumbles, looking away.

moving feels impossible, like he's trying to swim through quicksand, but slowly, link moves forward towards revali until he's seated in front of him on the bed. "...you wanna talk about it?"

revali stares blankly into space, unresponsive. a streak of fear wraps itself around link's chest as he searches revali's face, for any change in expression because this is terrifying.

"'vali?" link tries again in a whisper.

and this time, revali looks at him directly. but his face is scrunching up, his eyes welling with tears as he sniffs deeply again. "sorry," he murmurs, "i— just, it's—" fresh tears roll down his cheeks again and a sound that link has never heard before escapes from revali's throat, one that should have never made a home within revali in the first place.

"oh, 'vali," link whispers and he lets his instincts take over. he crawls forward into revali's lap, wrapping his arms around revali's neck and legs around his waist, holding him tightly. that's when the dam finally breaks and revali lets out the most gut-wrenching sound that link has ever heard him make, beginning to shake and cry openly into his shoulder. he holds revali tighter, letting him cry as much as he wants; it's the least that link could do. "it's okay, i'm here, reva."

eventually, revali's crying comes to a stop, but he's still holding link tightly with his arms around his waist, breathing softly against link's neck. link just strokes his hair, pressing kisses to the side of revali's face where he can reach. it's still a couple minutes before revali can find the words to speak again.

"it's the anniversary of my parents' funeral," he murmurs against link's neck. and it makes link stop in his tracks. oh. "i realize that i never actually talked to you about them. i'm sorry."

"that's okay," link murmurs back, continuing to stroke revali's hair. "you don't have to if you don't want to."

revali pauses for a moment. "i want to," he says softly. "i want you to know about them."

his tone somehow makes link's heart flutters. "okay," he replies in similar volume. "i'd like to, as long as you're comfortable talking about it."

"if it's with you, then i am," revali says. he takes a breath before talking again. "they were all i had, but i can barely even remember them. it's pathetic, i know."

"no it's not," link says softly. "you were still really young and it's a traumatic experience. you can't fault yourself for not being able to remember."

"but they were my parents," revali whispers. "they're the people that gave birth to me and were supposed to take care of me, and all i have to remember them by are legal documents and pictures. i can't even do them justice in memories."

link doesn't know what to say at first. it's an incredibly difficult subject to broach, after all. "even if you can't fully remember them," he decides to start, "i think they would love to know that you're trying. they've probably been watching from above and are so proud of you, because you have so much to be proud of, you know? you're so talented and clever and very handsome, might i add—" revali snorts — "they probably would have been proud to see you grew up well even without them. they would still love you."

"you really think that?" revali murmurs.

"the great revali? uncertain about his greatness?" link says teasingly. he pulls back a little to look at revali's face, whose eyes are still red from crying but hold a fond look. "they would, 'vali. anyone would be proud to have you as a son."

after a beat, revali pulls him back into a hug, squeezing him tight. "thank you," revali whispers. "i appreciate it."

"of course," link replies and turns his head to press another kiss to revali's jaw. "i'm here for you always." they're both quiet for a couple more minutes, content with just holding each other close until revali speaks once more.

"i'm sorry, by the way," revali says into the skin of link's neck. "i probably worried you since i wasn't there to greet you."

"that's okay," link says, his eyes closed. "i get it now after you told me. so don't feel bad anymore, i'm here with you now and i always will be, no matter what. i love you, 'vali, more than anything."

"i love you, too, songbird," revali whispers back. "thank you."

link hums. "i'm gonna get some water for you and then how about cuddles?"

"that sounds... nice." revali's face shifts its position under link's chin. "do you have to leave to get the water, though?"

he giggles. "do you wanna come with me to the kitchen, then?"

"i think we should skip the water and go straight to cuddling."

"nuh uh, you have to rehydrate after crying so much. you do the same to me when i cry."

"...whatever."

link giggles again and then sits back, pulling on revali's arm. "come on, let's go. the sooner we get water, the sooner we can cuddle." revali rolls his eyes but stands up with link and complies. even after all that, revali is still too weak for link and for his cuddles.

Progress Report 7/10

Taking a break from making So Many Wallpapers to bring you breaking gamedev updates re: TCM

I've been feeling really fatigued this last week especially, I'm not sure if its lingering exhaustion from the stress of the kickstarter, the unbearable summer heat (I live in the desert so), or I've just been neglecting myself but I've been really struggling to stay awake all day. That being said, there's lots I hope to get done this week but I'm trying to be realistic about what that workload will look like. I'm gonna play it by ear and see what I'm able to manage!

My #1 goal this week is to shift out of Kickstarter brain back into Coder brain and make some notable progress in implementing the new UI assets and transitions ingthing has ready for me.

Begin drafting a post ks devlog -> begin to write up the process of budgeting, research, and marketing strategies. To be made public on patreon and kickstarter within a few weeks' time.

Correct some backend issues on pledgebox

Love letters are all mostly written, continue polishing their visual components and then export into a nice, neat folder of pdfs for distribution soon.

One of my besties, who knows my taste in media: fr, you need to play coral island. it is gay AF. like we are reasonably sure the artist drew gay dudes for DeviantArt or something

I've had it on my Steam wishlist for a while, because I love me a "little tasks" game, and I love it when there are more POC in the cast. Then I got me a gift card from some dear folks, and I was like, "You know what? It's time."

THEY. WERE. NOT. KIDDING.

The art is legitimately very, very good. I love the character designs.

EVERYTHING IN THE GAME IS BEAUTIFUL AND PRECIOUS. The music is lovely. The environment is GORGEOUS, and the use of 3D in the landscape of it is really nice without being overwhelming.

There are a whole bunch of middle-aged people in the cast of characters, and I just want to adopt every single one of them. THE MINI-SCENE. OF CARPENTRY MOM. AND CARPENTRY DAD. HELPING YOU SET UP THE STUFF. IN YOUR HOUSE. It destroyed me like a Sailor Moon villain beholding the power of love. Interracial "capture the critters minigames" couple with the "we've been married for 30 years and hey, amirite?! hee-hee, love this one," energy? ADOPTED. Betty. BETTY!!! AdOpTeD. I cannot cope.

Random animals everywhere. Dog named Taco that splashes in the fountain every day, and if you try to talk to Taco, it says, "Taco is busy and can't talk right now." YA GODDAMN RIGHT. Dogs, cats, Fennec foxes, rabbits, a lizard. I don't even know what else. And those are just the pet-type animals I've seen! There's also WILDLIFE all over the island!

All the farming, fishing, mining, tree-chopping goodness you'd expect from this genre. But also OCEAN STUFF. And I didn't know this was so important to me until I had it, but you can RUN IN THE SHALLOW WATER AREAS. Low tide pools, trickling bits of streams with pebbly bottoms and stuff, and also just...what looks like ankle-deep water that has a clear path within a larger body of water. Water's part of the landscape, not an automatic barrier. And that's SO FUCKING COOL.

Anyway, play Coral Island. It's not 100% done, but goddamn. I'm like 8 days into the first season, and I never want to leave.

Ok so monokuma. Theres a lot of images I like of him (all of them) so theres likw be a lot of images but to heres a few that I find special lol. (Under the cut cause I theres is many I will aalao talk abt why I like them to for some lol so yeah) also I might miss stuff cause I still have yet to rewatch the games lol (I will prob in the future tho) so yeah more under the cut !

Ok so first off, sprites

These too are probably my most favourite sprites of him him imo. Theyre both from V3 and are very nicely polished. I really like how cute he looks, especially in the first one even though that sprite appears only once in the whole game which I think makes it more special methinks. The other is also super adorable. I also like these ones from dr1 (especially the one with hes showing his black side more) and the bonus ones sdr2 too but these are my most fave bearsonally (tbh its actually all of them lol)

Oh yeah and his pixel arts are cute too :3 !!!

Sorry it took forever just to write this short drabble. This is the first time I write about Daichi so I hope it's just fine. And anon I hope you don't miss this! I'm not ignoring your request :")

Daichi Sawamura is a schoolmate of yours since high school. Looking at him during his volleyball training from the distance has been your routine every day in high school. Although it's not really watching, more like peeking through the gym window as you run hurriedly to attend your club activity.

You know he was the captain of your high school men's volleyball team that went to the national. The first time you fall was for his passion; eager and harmonious, that's how you describe his game. The second time you fall was when he smiled sheepishly, saying sorry the moment he bumped into you. He was in hurry for his practice but before running straight to the gym, he was making sure that you were okay. The third time you fall was when he helped a granny to carry her groceries. Then you didn't remember the fourth and the next because you've fallen deep, helplessly.

But everything changed when you two came to the police academy. You grow closer because he's the one from the same hometown as you.

"Hi, I'm sure I've met you before."

"Yes, I'm also from Karasuno high school."

He let out a small chuckle, "I know that. I'm Daichi Sawamura, nice to meet you again, y/n. It's nice to see a familiar face."

And with that, you nod in agreement.

"Please take care of me." You bow a bit deeper because you don't want him to notice a faint tint that grows on your cheeks.

As you know him, he's surprisingly not that stiff. He laughs at your jokes and teases you for your clumsiness. But the teasing and banter bloom beyond your anticipation which is not really good for your expectant heart.

"Cute isn't he?"

The watchdog, an Akita Inu breed from the mountains of northern Japan, wags his tail at him as he pats his head lovingly.

"You always seem to get along with animals."

"They love me, I don't know why."

"Because you're always so kind to them, how could they don't like you?" You remember during high school he picked up a stray cat and fed her fish and milk everyday.

"I'm not being kind, I just treat them the way they deserve to be treated."

It's true that every creature deserves to be taken care of affectionately, not to be treated like a piece of garbage. It's heartbreaking that as a police officer you saw more cases of how the price of life is really cheap nowadays.

"Cute." You whisper in your heart, admiring his loving eyes toward the sesame-colored dog. Your heart melts into a puddle.

You know his sense of justice has grown back then. He said determinedly he wanted to make a world where animals and humans can live in peace and harmony when he was interviewed during his freshman.

Then you hear the bell ringing, calling all the apprentices of the police academy for the next training session which is martial arts - actually your and his favorite.

"See ya, y/n! Watch for me to win this session again." He flexes his biceps which had grown sturdier than in high school.

"Ha, you wish!" You replied in a daring tone, following him toward the dojo.

Then, you graduate from the police academy. Both of you decide to come back, serving as police officers in your hometown as part of the Miyagi Prefecture Police Force.

It's been raining for the past week, an unusual drizzle in the spring transition. Though gladly it finally stops when your time for your shift has come. You two have a duty to patrol around twice a day.

You and Daichi cycle through the wet road; across the empty lanes and side by side with the cars on the highway. Your bicycle tire hits a puddle, splashing an amount of water on your boots.

Orange and red hues bask the town. Daichi who had been silent suddenly turned around to look at you. You, who've been admiring his back profile, jolt and lose your balance as your bike hits a roadblock.

Disgracefully and undoubtedly you fall to the ground, making him stop and park his bike swiftly.

"What's up with you? Are you okay?"

You grimace, "Sorry I didn't expect that. I was dozing off for a second."

He offers his hand which you take as help to stand on your feet again. "First rule of a police officer, don't let your guard down."

You snort at his scold, "Yeah I know, thanks."

You swap the dirt off your uniform and crouch down to take your poor bicycle.

"Can you walk?"

You hum, "I can even fight you here sir, don't underestimate me."

A crooked smile paster on his face, "I love strong girls."

Really, he's so carefree with his words that it annoys you sometimes, more on how it really affects you. His gaze lies on your wounded arm, which you didn't even notice before.

"But when we get to the office, we have to treat your wound properly."

It's been a while. The antiseptic scent lingerss in the room, as the cotton bud with liquid iodine brushes the skin around your wound. You remain silent as he treats you with great care. It's just a simple act but it warms your heart immensely, he's like the sun and you wouldn't mind revolving around him.

"It's been a long time."

"I said I can do it by myself."

He chuckled, "You were always so clumsy. Please, don't worry about it."

When his hand accidentally grazes your skin it feels burning, almost like a phoenix flapping its wings towards you. Only for your hope, it won't burn an eternal flame in your heart.

Dev Diaries

March 5th, 2024

So. We're 3 months into the new year. Huh.

Updates from me? I started a new job! I've been reading/catching up on a toooooon of manga lately (I'm also sloooooowly making my way through a nonfiction read and can't help thinking how Corey would heavily sympathize with me. Sigh.)

I also got another free month of Spotify (lol, I think I'm the only person I know who only uses the free plan because I'd rather spend that money elsewhere??) so I've been on a listening spree and flagging songs for a writing playlist I will use for the majority of the HSDJY 2 drafting process moving forward.

I still have yet to play BG3. My family gifted me the physical edition, so I've been impatiently waiting for it to ship out. It's been 84 years JFJEHFJHJF!!

Hmmm...nothing else interesting has happened to me (that I can publicly share ☠️) so on with the game development updates!!!!!

It’s only been a few months (since November??) but I’m super proud of my posting consistency! Granted, I’m a little anxious about how posts will look moving forward once I start moving major updates and general silliness to Tumblr. But. We shall cross the bridge when it appears.

March snuck up on me and I only have the free and any-paid-support ready, but the subbies are just There™️. That being said...when I'm quiet or posting non-Hummingbird content here, there's 99.9% chance I've made a free post on ko-fi.

Tumblr is looking like the other social media platforms right now with its flagrant support of AI, and it gives me a headache trying to decide how to keep everyone informed as well as share posts from my peers and new kids on the block. Anyhoo!!!

High School Daze goodies??

At the time of this post, a couple things have been happening that I haven't had the time (or the energy) to talk about. The obvious? HIGH SCHOOl DAZE: JUNIOR 2 HAS AN ITCH.IO PAGE!! I...have no idea when the full game will be out. I have an idea...but I don't want to say it and feel obligated to make that deadline just so I don't disappoint players. (I'm well aware that some people took one look at Crushed, went "Aww, that's nice, Gemini. Now where's HSD??" 🤣)

The first round of sprites have been commissioned!! If you peeped the key art (also done by my sprite artist, heehee she's lovely) you might notice some new outfits, some new hairdos. Fingers crossed I'll be able to update the page--to mirror the debut game's page--at the same time the new demo goes live (which will showcase all of or at least 75% of the common route of the full game. Stay tuned to find out if we'll focus on the friendship route or if I can defeat the Coding Monster to include all the variations for the romances too aha).

Writing wise? Five of the six total routes are outlined. (Florence's I've…barely started 🥲…this pre-production thing is kicking my ass). I’ve started drafting out the friendship route too, as seen by the random posts I’ve made about HSDJY 2. Well, a combination of friendship route + the common route with its lovely variations that aren’t a nuisance at all. Nope. *eye twitch*

I alsooooooo discovered that all the raw and edited music I created for HSD and for personal projects over the years using GarageBand were deleted. And I never backed them up. So. The tracks I made, the jingle for the splash screen, the main theme and it's 2 variations, and alllllll the little cute things I made that are as old as my own high school days are....gone.

If I sound very calm about this, what an astute observation! But my anxiety is being used elsewhere, and I decided that I while I can't go back to the original files to tweak them, I've backed up the other files. And I don't mind starting from scratch with this.

But also y'all, please back up your shit. Please. Don't be caught slipping.

That poll I made a while back that now has results and I totally didn't forget about?? The boys won!! And I'm not surprised 🤣 I haven't decided yet if I'll do a live developer stream or a prerecorded one, but either way it'll happen closer to October, the 2nd anniversary date.

I assumed a lot of things about what would be done or not done by March, and that led me to loosely block out March as a 'rest' month. I wouldn't work on any projects, and instead would read, play console and computer games, and basically take the break I didn't take in December.

Well. The Knight Dance is still in production. And I commissioned sprites earlier than expected. And I didn't plan enough ko-fi content to be scheduled in my absence. LOL and I started a new job!? 🥹

But!!! But but but, I do need to take some type of break so I'll do my best to be scarce in this space (and lower the temptation to work because I see y'all are working LOL). Cool? Cool!

It is so good to round out the end of 2023 by looking back on the overwhelming amount of progress that has been made. I've been gathering up devlogs and progress reports over the last week and am sincerely shocked by (and very emotional about) just how much was accomplished!

Thank you all so much for joining me on this insane journey. I have so many plans for 2024 and could not be more motivated to press on with the development of Catalyst: Blind Faith! Fully upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and graphics card!

Lined up for a nice raise at my day job (I'm working 45-50 hours a week at a day job, on top of all of this, to fund the demo).

Celebrated my nine year anniversary with my partner. Without her support I could not have done any of this. 

We made it! That's the entire recap. I can hardly believe that this year was so remarkably productive, despite everything.

All of us at Just Write Studios are working incredibly hard to complete the demo of Catalyst: Blind Faith. My goal is to complete the script for the full game, and to get as many art assets commissioned as possible. Leo's Route - Hinata's Playthrough

( I... finished the route while Luna snoozed right next to me. She heard me jump at points, but I doubt it'll affect her sleep. Now as for my sleep, that's gonna be a different story because HOLY FUCK WHAT WAS THAT??? I liked Leo a bit until everything started going to shit, but Kudzu definitely became my favorite guy as of yet. Kinda hot and he's so nice! Also can I just say TO HELL WITH BRIAN? Holy shit I've seen Ugly Bastards before, if you catch my drift, but he takes the cake with just how vile he is.

I have a theory cooking up about how things are going concerning how the game itself is one universe but with many many Chase's, but... what was Leo going on about how Chase was in his room telling him he loves him??? Did... look, I don't understand a lot of psychology, but was Chase a tulpa or something? It was mentioned that Leo never got psychological help following the events, so is it possible that he's... still creepily in love with Chase? I'm so confused. Here I thought my own world, or the nonferals are confusing, and yet Echo is managing to utterly destroy my expectations in the best way possible.

I wanted add some more about my experiences with that one Brian scene in the house, but... I'm trying my best to keep this SFW? It's incredibly difficult though. I just know that I was deeply uncomfortable with all of that. The topic of consent means a lot to me, especially since for most of my life, I was experimented on without it, but that's besides the point. Just.... Lastly, that one splash art on the road was SO FUCKING COOL but I think I might have yelped a bit since Luna actually opened her eyes. Usually, she's not one to wake up, as her hearing is honestly pretty bad while sleeping, but I must've scared her. )

First of all, thanks for all the love on my latest and surprise Chan sickfic! There's a new one coming soon!

I wanted to say a few things:

Yesterday (04/08) was my third time going to the movies alone. That's a big step for me because I discovered I have major social anxiety and it sparks on shopping malls. Like, I went there and the whole walk to the cinema my heart was racing as if I was running a marathon. I only relaxed and managed to catch my breath once I was inside the room and sitting down. So yeah, I'm trying to do more and more things on my own and I'm still discovering things about myself.

But on a good note! I watched The First Slam Dunk and oh my god! What an amazing end to such a famous and loved manga/anime series!

It was AWESOME! The animation was 100%! And the story, maaaaan.... Tears, tears and tears and more tears....🥺😭 I needed more!!!! But still, it was a nice way to end the whole Slam Dunk story.

And the cherry on top: there were two emetoish scenes : SPOILERS!

Once while Ryota was running, he stopped for a moment and gagged, covering his mouth, almost vomiting (shaaaame, I wanted to see but oh well). And the other at the very end, it shows him inside a bathroom stall (you can only see his feet) and you can hear him vomit right before the match (it doesn't show and you can't hear anything splashing on the water) but it still gave me whumperflies! And it also got me thinking if him vomiting before a match was something that happened regularly ( I actually came across a bunch of fan art with him throwing up on Twitter).

Second:

The reason why it's taking so long to finish my new Sickfic is because I am on my last week of vacation before going back to that godforsaken college. So I'm using all the time I have to play video games and watch animes with my mom. Whenever I'm not doing any of those, I try to write a little bit more. So I'm sorry for taking so long. When I'm back in college it might be faster because I won't be playing or anything and any free time I have I'll be able to write.

Hmm, truth be told, aside from rinharu, I really don't pay too much attention to other pairings. But recently, I read a splash free! au fic, which had a secondary pairing i hadn't seen much of before, and it stuck out to me:

NagiGou. Pretty rare pair, but the way they were written was genuinely so fun and adorable. Nagisa being playful and silly, gently teasing/bantering with Gou, who is exasperated by him but is also fond of his antics. Nagisa, ever cheerful, is able to lighten Gou's mood whenever she's stressed and offer her some comfort with stories and jokes. It has a very kight hearted and innocent vibe. They play off of each other nicely. Didn't expect to actually enjoy it so much. That fic was amazing, too. (A warning for it, though: it has some pretty distressing descriptions of violence at one point)

Honestly, as long as rinharu is involved, I'll be satisfied. But alright, I'd have to say that ship week or prompt/theme driven events are definitely my favorite. It generates a surge of fresh new content to enjoy, and the people who participate always end up producing such beautiful, incredible, and creative works. I hope to be able to actually participate in one soon, but I usually find myself too busy with life stuff or just lacking in motivation to actually draw. Art is hard :')

My Favorite Nami Skin - Program Nami

The splash art is exceptionally beautiful (as is for every Nami skin). I love the reflection and I appreciate any skin that leans more into Nami as a “monster girl”.

In-game, the skin doesn’t do very well at hiding the model’s age, but her abilities, especially the ult (Tidal Wave) and w (Ebb and Flow), look very nice. I love the way her tail looks and how her “hair” is made up of cables. Her eyes are a bit small but they work well in conveying something more sinister. I also do enjoy the voice and sound effects. I’d say my least favorite part is her staff, which I find a little boring, but the chromas make it look much nicer.

I’m quite partial to the skin also because my partner plays Irelia and Katarina (who both have PROJECT skins) so I can often match with him. He owns Irelia’s prestige skin, so I use the pearl chroma so we can both be white and gold. Otherwise, I use rose quartz so we’re both pink.
