Sometimes I play a Pokemon Game and don't want to make a new S/I for it but do want to interact with it's story and characters.

So here are some Wandering Protagonists I aged up and moved across Regions for funsies.

I love an incompetent goofy villains ala doofenshmirtz so much!!

I wish mans had some more screen I would have loved to see the dynamics he had with the rest of the main cast more before the last episode, but I know that a "they only had 8 episodes" issue riiippp. But I 100% believe he would be either an unwilling participant and/or target to Angel's pranks amd think his friendship with Niffty would have been adorable if not unhinged lol.

Anyways, I kept Pen's colour scheme pretty close to the og's as I think the yellow really helped him stand out!

I pushed his snake attributes that one small step further, giving him a snoot etc. And turned the eyes on his tail into patterns on his back, primarily for simplicitys sake.

He wares his goggles all the time now so he looks more dorky (/so much affection) and I reached deep into my steampunk loving past to make his outfit, I think I healed some sort of inner cringe teen with this fit.

I overall like the vibe but this is another design I feel isn't hitting exactly the way I want it to, like I might try to push the inventor parts of his design more and look at changing up his colour scheme as after I did Niffty his and her colours are a biiit close, but we will see lol.

Keymaster appreciation post

There's something to be said about his initial design and I will say this something. We are taking the original game as an example, but will touch on the remaster too.

The design

How the fuck did Poki do it? How can you make a character that looks like an absolute dork AND kinda intimidating at the same time? I tell you how, but before that - let's examine these two faces.

Unfortunately, Poki clearly had a trouble with the Keymaster staying on model, I call the first version "squarey" (you can see this version of his face during the first dialogue and during KM wait in the truck) and the second's "long-ey" (you can see this one everywhere else) but I will say that I generally prefer the second version - the long face one.

Why? The look is a bit more human and not "I don't have no fucking eyelids", the eyebrows are so much prominent, which adds to the look, and the bang is a bit longer.

So what's so cool and actually funny about his design?

He combines two archetypes: a general creep (sick (not in a cool way) eye and skin colors (dude may wanna check his liver tho), an indication of sunken eyes, the stache) and a coolass emoboy (this fucking haircut, smug talk, drama). Like these two guys fused together:

Also his skin color is fucking sickening you know why? Ever tried to rub your skin along - say - shoulder? Ever got these partricles of dead skin? Have you ever saw what color does it get, when you accumulate it enough in your hand?

That's right! They are morbidly greay-ishly green. Exact hue of his skin. THE DUDE HAS SO MUCH DEAD SKIN - ppls kinda shed - ON HIS BOD IT MIGHT AS WELL BE 20% of his body weight.

The voice/s

Original VA for Keymaster goes for a top notch mix of freako and smug. He sounds both flirtatious and a biiit unstable, like a person who tries their best to hit you up but clearly haven't slept for like 3 days - the tone and mannerisms are all over the place, the voice itself is the perfect balance of semi-deep and whispery. I love this performance - it confuses you into whether or not can you trust the guy . An original performance and the one to be respected.

Russian VA for Keymaster - who based his performance off the original one - DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THAT HARD?? Dat voice is deep as FUCK, thicc even, you can't call the voice "thicc" but this one just IS. The whispery part is gone absolutely, KM sounds kinda normal even, but holy shit did the VA turned it up to 100. This one is a favourite of mine, absolutely. I don't even give a shit about what he says, this is some ASMR shit. Absolute 0 wonder why he tricked most of russian let's players into actually trusting him. The only criticism I may ha

English VA went to the opposite direction of the spectrum, he went all fancy kind of dracula over the top performance, kinda like, WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY and while he does sound unhinged, there is no doubt he's a sicko actually. That, or just a theater kid. But no shame on this actor tho, just bc I don't really like this particular performance, doesn't mean it's TERRIBLE ok?

The personality and motives

Holy fucking shit so hear me out.

I don't like him around the fact that he's a flity pretty possible serial killer.

I like him for the fact of being RESENTFUL about it, possibly hating it about himself.

When he killed the pastor it clearly was made on impulse, and he hated it so much that he locked himself - and therefore Edna - up. Despite the smarts he's clearly impulsive in nature - like getting off to drive a Dr's car ABSOLUTELY NOT KNOWING HOW TO and ONLY THINKING AFTER THE FACT, there is like nothing going on in this head.

I am not excusing the guy's actions, but there is a big chance he just went a full on Sam Gordon just with no curse involved.

The conculsion

Key Master is great not because he's your stereotypical mass murderer POS. There is a lot of unpack and a lot of empathy to be felt if you try to think on how come he ended up the way he did.

He actively hates himself and doesn't enjoy the way he is which is - unfortunately - preeeetty much deserved.

I will write more abt the dude later - especially on my fav theory that says he's not real

Ekvillan - 'The oak villa'

Ekvillan is a spacious family villa inspired by swedish architecture from the turn of the last century.

I chose to call it 'Ekvillan' - 'The oak villa' in swedish, since there is a big oak tree in the garden. It has a vegetable garden, bees, a chicken coop, and a treehouse. There's plenty of cozy little spots to hang out and eat 'fika'.

They're separate dragons in mine, and they're brothers! They're Sand/night hybrids with just a biiit of Skywing heritage (hence Sunny's tail!)

They ended up working for Thorn in the Scorpion Den during the tail end of the war as caretakers, mainly caring for injured and orphaned dragonets.

After the war, they decide to start a daycare/orphanage, considering there were still many displaced dragonets during the war. (Mind you, they're still 17 or so in human years at this time, so probably 6-7 in dragon years and still considered dragonets. Around the same age as the DoD ig idk anymore lol)

I don't have their lore figured out much beyond that though-

(However, I have thought about pulling these two into my Ninjago Multiverse AU. Galaxy, (my sona) is the MC of that au and got dragged to the Pizzaplex to stop the virus via her Portals, and now works there. Sun and Moon have accidentally ended up on two adventures with her (Hunger Games and an MLP infection world). Maybe I'll add a third at some point, and DCA Sun and Moon end up dragons for a while ajdjdhjd)

I also have a few OCs I want to involve in their lore somehow. I was actually writing in that specific Google doc when I got this ask LMAO-

Hullo! Do you have any tips on just coming up with designs and markings and how to colour those designs/lines without making stuff clash? You're always able to make such creative and nicely made designs and I'm curious if you have anything you get inspiration off of and how you're able to colour your marking lines so smoothly?

i would make a nice image tutorial like i did yesterday but i do Not have the time to Sadly so you get words instead colouring lineart: colouring the lineart is easy peasy lemon squeezy. you gotta wait until youve FINISHED the colouring to do this part. okay, so, for the characters ACTUAL LINEART, when i draw their legs & tail & face & whatnot, i colourpick the DARKEST colour on the character, whether it be in their markings, eyes, accessories, or whatever. and then i take that colour and make it just... a LOT darker! and maybe shift the hue around aswell (ex: if the character was mostly yellow/cream i'd give them orange or red lines)! and then for the MARKING LINES i take the darkest MARKING. ignore the accessories and characters eyes they dont matter JUST pick the darkest coloured marking. and then make THAT darker, but not as much as you did the actual lineart!! you can also change the hue on this :3 how i come up with designs + inspirations: hmm well i'm going to be honest with you i don't exactly know how i come up with my designs? a lot of it just comes from how i picture the character in my head! especially if its a warrior cat design! i don't tend to stray away from those thoughts unless i picture them as like stupidly boring LOL ! inspirations is a biiit tricky, but i guess i kind of just look at a LOAD of other warrior cats animations & art, and uh! anime! lol! looking at how other people draw cats has gotten me better at drawing anatomy & whatnot, and watching various animes is why i started giving my cats hair lol! it's kind of hard for me to explain like, my EXACT process on why & how i design certain characters im sorryyyy x'''P i would if i could but literally 90& of is me drawing whatever and then thinking 'does this look good' and then saying yes or no LOL how i colour my designs: similarly to how i DO my designs, it's a lot of my just asking myself if it Looks Good or not, but there are a few things i do! a lot of designs i do i jump around the colour wheel a LOT! hue wise, i mean. i think i've managed to find different ways to use every single colour on the colour wheel lol! blues and greens and purples are good for greys & blacks, blues & yellows & oranges are good for white/ light markings, red & orange & yellow & purple are good for brown cats, etc etc etc! the other main thing is layer effects! sooo like if i draw a character but i'm not super happy with their colours, i find it hard & annoying to fiddle around and change each colour individually, so instead i make layer above the colouring, set it to one flat colour, and go through all/most of the layer options (like multiply, linear burn, lighten, glow dodge, difference, subtract, the list goes on) and find something i like! and then i usually do that a BUNCH of times with ALL sorts of different colours until the character ends up looking good!

(This is for the OC travelling ask game. I'm not too sure about the rules but I'm under the impression that I'm the one giving a description of one of my OCs and you'll tell me which of your OCs will get along with them.)

*You encounter a young man with blue hair and blue eyes. He sports a pair of stubby horns, with one having an accessory dangling from it.

*There was mischief in his eyes but he allows you to approach. He sports a dark blue cardigan and navy blue pants. You take notice that his tail was had some feathers, yet occasionally, you do see a poisonous stinger sticking out of it.

*He refuses to give you a name. (You'll later find out his name is Kazuya. But that is for another time.) His first instinct was to pull a prank on you within the first 5 minutes of meeting you.

*Depending on when you meet him, he could either be an antagonist or just a headache. You later realize that it's mostly because of his creator that he's civil. No matter how much he would rather sow discord and chaos, he would listen to her word. Her word is law to him, despite her obvious discomfort of the fact.

*However, despite that, he often tries to provoke her anger by causing headaches from his misadventures with his spells and potions. Should you participate in these pranks, he will teach you some tricks and give you magic lessons. (Or you could just ask. He'd indulge you but be prepared to have a strict teacher. "All that talent for magic and he uses it for pranks," his creator would say despite smiling.)

*He prefers not to talk about his feelings but he does occasionally give you things you mention you wanted in passing. If he does leave you a note with the gift, he puts his words in the most annoying way possible.

*He's not one for dates but he can arrange an outing to cheer you up should you have bonded enough. Bond with him even more and there is a chance he wouldn't mind destroying the world if it means you are safe and happy.

TL:DR : Kazuya is a powerful prankster who has a lot of talent in magic. He would rather be chaotic but he wants certain people to not be upset with him (still pulls pranks on them though). He carries hints of "villain who'd destroy the world for you" sometimes.

(Haha. Whoops. I gushed about him a biiit too much. XD I hope you don't mind. I'm curious which of your OCs would get along with him should they meet.)

(thank you so much for the ask! kazuya sounds super cool, i love to hear about other people's ocs.) I'd have to say Az, or maybe a young Lexi Mayridge. See, on one hand, Azalea Xirelle could probably relate to him the most; they're both powerful people with a penchant for general mischief and tomfoolery, though Az might find his loyalty to one person a little unsettling. However, a young Lexi- before all the government stuff, maybe back when she was still a student athlete with the world before her- they'd get along great too. He's got spells and potions, Lexi works with magic chemistry; and thought Lexi doesn't exactly have something to be loyal to, she's very determined to reach whatever she sets her eyes on, and i think he'd respect that. Also, third option; Teq Quetzeve. They've probably got the most in common; Teq's a heavy weapons specialist that further specialized into integrating magic into weapons, so I think they could pull off some really cool stuff. Add that to their extreme loyalty and love for jokes, and they'd be a pretty powerful duo. I feel like most of the cast wouldn't be immediately hostile, just very distrusting. Again, thank you so much for the ask- your ocs have always seemed cool and i love Kazuya's design.

ooooo yes yes yes! I have several OCs but only a few of them are actually fleshed out.

These are the most fleshed out, Kiyya and Amity (both use they/them pronouns and their designs have changed a biiit since these arts, u really should post more about them)

Kiyya (left picture, they currently wear the Ranger cape) is an explorer based in the Wind Paths, who goes around the Sky Kingdom collecting stories and working on maps, trying to find hidden areas. They’re always prepared for anything but don’t always think situations through. They also love taking vacations and camping in beautiful areas. They carry like 20 different props in their boat,

Amity (right picture, I would like for them to wear Peeking Postman’s pants but sadly I don’t have those) is a performer from the Valley of Triumph who did like music and watched the races. They lived in the Village of Dreams, but one day a festival was interrupted by a falling shard and Amity was struck trying to save one of their fellow performers, resulting in a piece of shard becoming lodged in their arm. As it slowly corrupted them, Amity travelled in search of a cure, eventually meeting Kiyya and ending up in the Golden Wasteland, where a small community of skykids kept an eye on Eden’s storms and helped moths traveling through this realm. (These skykids are the rest of the OCs, all of them ended up in Wasteland trying to help others)

Iron Launcher's Pokemon Infopost

it's Iron Launcher's turn!!

if it isn't super obvious already, its design is based on rockets and airplanes. they're shaped much like longkii, very very longe

it was a bit difficult to figure out how to make a rocket hi-tech and super cool, so i had to look at some references, and i found that reshiram's tail and rings quite fits the futuristic feel i wanted. (floating rings are cool

other than that, there's not much i can say about this design? longkii's shoes are essentially works as the engine IL uses to propel itself, the crown is just a smaller ring around its body, and the ++ eyes are inspired by chinchou's eyes, to kinda give it that silly lil happy guy energy that i will explain a bit later.

there wasnt much thought put into the design sadly cuz i have a biiit of a bias for the past paradoxes, so i struggled a bit in putting my all for the future version like displaying their personality and such. fortunately, i have tried to make up for this by expanding more on its personality in its learnset and game data!

Game Data

obviously, IL would be more on the speedy side, and i've made it be primarily a mixed attacker with weaker defenses. i'm not sure if this is a good spread? if possible i would like to improve this.

i also wanted to built this guy to be a bit of a glass cannon, so i made this custom ability !

this ability, plot armor, was me trying to expand on its personality as a rather rash and reckless type of pokemon, but is stubborn enough to never back down against an opponent, much like a heroic protagonist !!

this is also why i named the ability plot armor LOL i just imagine those types of shonen protags where the more the villain beats them up, they magically get stronger or they get a power up out of nowhere

anyways, its an ability thats like a double-edged sword, its frail but it can get super powerful very fast if you dont kill it immediately!!

i sadly don't have a lot to say about this, its also just me trying to expand on its personality, they're very silly and hyper!! and they love to be super active and beat each other up !1!!!!!!!1!!!11!

they also have a built-in instinct to befriend as much people and has a savior complex kinda, you gotta love em'

Learnsets

lastly, here's IL's learnset! I try to incorporate a lot of moves that involves a lot of it headbutting and charging to showcase its reckless personality

status moves like lock on is there to compensate for the couple of inaccurate moves, because as you know, 90% is basically 50% accurate. follow me can be used in double battles, to encourage the opponents to attack it to give it that plot armor boost.

they also learn a couple moves that do recoil later on, which does activate its ability ! they also know a couple of electric moves due to their pokedex entry explained above.

their signature move, Gigaton Bullet, is also made by my friend Gold, and here is the description for it! (i really dig this move ngl

Gigaton Bullet - Iron Launcher charges up for 1 turn, and launches full speed towards the target. It goes out of control and flies in different directions, and can attack the target 3-6 times. After the move ends, it takes 10% HP recoil damage.

Ward can be a biiit stubborn but Bones is literally a doctor so it is not hard for him to clock when his friend is feeling under the weather (heh) ESP if he’s regressed. Ward gets super clingy when he doesn’t feel well! Bones always does a good job looking after his kiddo, and if he can, he stays either in their quarters or in his office to give him some TLC

Ward gets pretty whiny and crangy when he doesn’t feel well and he wants to be cuddled 24/7 until he feels better!

🏡: do they have an ideal room design to play in?

Cooper’s range is probably about 2-5, so he’d probably have a bed with railings, and a lot of like hands on toys like the ones below! Definitely a nice soft blanket/rug to lay on and just chill out

Opening Pay what you want sketches again! This is for upcoming bills for both December and January. Things might be a smidge slow because cold weather is making holding the stylus difficult and I’m also working on a big sketch that got back burned slightly due to ill health but I’ll do my best.
