“You’re lucky you’re cute,” he mumbled fondly. The two of them kept their faces and bodies angled forward as they spoke, daring not to show any physical displays of affection with so many eyes on them.

“Pretty lousy atmosphere for a first date, if you ask me,” Spidey continued, quiet and coltish. “Some orchids or candles would’ve been nice.”

“You want to count this as our first date?” Johnny whispered back. “I was planning to take you somewhere with much better ambiance and way fewer older sisters around. Maybe rent a gondola and a string quartet or something. But if you’d like, we can always save that for date number two.”

Spider-Man shrugged. “Either way. Your idea does sound a lot more romantic than the humiliation ritual we’re about to be subjected to...”

Johnny ventured a look at the rows of heroes sitting in the arena’s viewing room and grimaced. “Especially with my teammates watching,” he said gravely. His gaze swiveled to his feet, and he swallowed. “I am so not good at this ‘keeping secrets’ thing, Webs. I really like you, and am obviously terrible at hiding it.” His hands knotted into fists at his sides. “So if you’re set on keeping this thing on the down low, we’ve really gotta sell the whole ‘platonic super bros’ shtick. We can’t do anything that even suggests that we like each other like that. Not with them watching us like fish in a bowl.”

Spidey faced him then, head drooping a bit. “I’m sorry I’m making you lie to your teammates,” he murmured. “I know firsthand how complicated it can get.”

“It’s all right. I lie to them about all kinds of stuff all the time.” Johnny smiled apologetically. “I just wish I was better at it.”

Spider-Man scratched the back of his neck. “Lucky for us, we’ll probably be too busy getting blasted by drones or pummeled by robotic thugs to do anything remotely romantic-y looking while we’re in here.”

Johnny elbowed him in the side. “Well, double lucky for us: we’ve done this exact drill in real life already, and won. I can’t imagine fake thugs or drones being any harder to beat than those insane kidnappers we fought.” Mischief tugged at the corners of his lips as he tucked his hands politely behind his back, raising his chin and tracing his gaze along the outline of Spidey’s throat. “And after we win this,” Johnny added, “I’m gonna drag you somewhere no one will bother us and spend the rest of the afternoon sucking on your neck until it’s all one big hickey. Sound good?”

A noise sputtered out of the masked hero that sounded like a cross between a cough and a squeak. Johnny clapped him triumphantly on the back as he strolled forward, whispering in his ear as he close as he dared as he passed by. “Best leave the flirting to the professionals, bug boy.”

Season 1 Episode 1: Human Flesh

I've seen this episode so many times and it never gets old. I don't remember how I felt watching it the first time, but I always enjoy it as if I am looking back at old home movies. The nostalgia I get from the opening credits music to the animation is so amazing. Every time I see a clip of this ep I have to rewatch it it's just so funny. This pilot episode has got to be one of my top 5 as far as pilots go.

When Bob goes out to confront Hugo and Ron in their van then grabs Hugo is so funny. That's one thing I wish was a bit more consistent, I love when Bob has his deranged moments lol. But I get it he's a tired old man! Helping Hugo get out of the spot is too real. I don't know how to parallel park. I barely know how to drive. Took me three tries to pass my driver's test. I fell victim to the California roll 😔🤚. Every time I'm driving someone around I always make them park for me so I get it.

Bob talking to himself into the reflection of the window is so fucking funny. My favorite scene in the episode.

Overall I give this episode a 8.5/10. I do wanna establish now that my favorite types of episodes are the emotional ones that make me feel like I swallowed the sun. These funny ones are a close second though. This episode perfectly sets up the wholesome but crackhead family dynamic shown throughout the rest of the show and really gets your attention. One of the reasons I find it so hard to start new shows is because it starts out so SLOW but this is a cute lil episode that has too many iconic moments to just have it as background noise. Seeing Bob and Linda on the ferris wheel makes me so excited to start a family and grow old w my man 🥹 they are such couple goals AND parent goals.

Notes: hi everyone ! i know i have been gone for a hot minute and i am deeply sorry about that. there has been a lot of not so fabulous things going on in my life and in my mental state that has left with with little motivation to write. the worst part is? im 3/4 done with chapter 11 ... like girl plz just finish that hoe DAMN ! but i found the motivation today to write for this lovely ask i received a little bit ago (: i love the idea of getting to take a peak inside how the TF boys are before Estrella came into the picture. so a very big thank you to @romanarose for this !! chronologically, this takes place before chapter one.

Frankie, Will, and Santi sit together in the back of The Barrel at their usual table. The bar isn't particularly full this evening, but the comforting hum of conversations emitting from the regulars fill the empty chairs. They talk and laugh amongst each other as they wait for their last member to arrive: Benny. It had been only four days since his receptionist quit, but the hurt was apparent to everyone. Usually, she was the one to help him clean up after they close the gym down for the evening. Both of them managed to get it done relatively quickly too. Unfortunately, in her absence, Benny had to do it all himself. The other guys had repeatedly offered to give him a hand in the evenings, but Benny refused. He said that he had it covered and that they should just wait for him at the bar. Not wanting to press him further, the trio would retreat across the street. 

“Here he is! We all thought you fell into the washing machine and couldn’t get out.” Santi claps Benny on the shoulder as he makes his way to buy a round for everyone. 

“You were 15 minutes slower than yesterday.” Will says, tapping his watch while his brother takes a seat next to him. 

“Gee, that makes me feel great! Fish, do you want to rub salt in my wounds too?” 

“I’m just happy you’re finally here, man.” Frankie’s eyes convey sincerity. “But you’re going to run yourself ragged doing all that clean up by yourself. Why don’t you let us help?” 

“Yeah.” Santi rejoins the table and passes out the bottles. A few seconds of silence go by as each man takes a moment to wash away the stress of their day with deep gulps of chilled liquid. “We are offering to help you clean. It’s not like you’re forcing us.” 

Will nods in agreement and tips his bottle in both Frankie and Santi’s direction.

“I just hate the idea of y’all doin’ work I’m completely capable of.” 

“It doesn’t make you any less of a man if we help you clorox a few work benches, Benny.” Frankie says gingerly.

“I know, I know. To be honest with y’all?” Benny scoots closer into the table. “It’s kinda lonely there without someone to talk to in between clients.”

“My bed is going to be kinda lonely too if it makes you feel any better.” Santi offers. 

This manages to get a laugh out of the very tired looking Benny. “Oh is it now? Poor you.”

“Poor me is right! Your receptionist may have kept you company during the day but she kept me company during the night. Now that she's quit, that means I have to as well.”

“That’s not what that means at all, Pope.” Will says with a raised eyebrow. “You can still see her even if she doesn’t work at Brass Knuckles anymore.” 

“Well she also started talking about getting exclusive…”

“And there’s the real reason!” Will laughs. 

“Can we get back to my issue?” Benny begs. “What do I do? No one has answered the ads I’ve posted online. I don’t know how much longer I can handle juggling training clients and taking care of the in between tasks.”

“What about good old fashioned paper flyers? You could give some to me to hang at the auto shop. Will could take some to the VA?”

“Absolutely not.” Santi says with conviction. “I will not have a man take this job and ruin my chances of meeting another beautiful woman.” 

“Fine.” Frankie rolls his eyes. “What about a bookstore or a coffee shop? Does that sound better to you?”

“That’s not a bad idea, but do people even read those flyers? I know I don’t.” Benny shrugs.

“Well you’re not the one that's desperate for a job. I would just make sure you print out the ads on bright paper so it catches peoples eye.” 

“That’s not a bad idea either.” Benny says to his brother. “Still, who knows how long it's going to take before someone calls about it?” 

All four men are quiet as they brainstorm possible solutions to the problem that's currently plaguing them.

“I’ve got it!” Santi snaps his fingers. “I bet you that you can’t find another receptionist within a week of the last one leaving.” 

“Pope, what the fuck?” Benny looks shocked.

“Yeah, why are you actively saying he can’t do it?” Frankie questions. 

Santi only chuckles and Will shortly joins him when he puts the pieces together in his head. 

“You cabrons aren’t listening to me. I bet you that you can’t find another receptionist within a week of the last one leaving. You’ve never backed away from a bet as long as I’ve known you, Benny.” 

“He does love to prove you wrong, Pope.” Will has his arms crossed over his stomach and they rise and fall easily as he begins laughing again. 

A look of realization settles over the two other men.

“Alright, I’ll take you up on that.” Benny and Pope shake hands across the table. “You’re a dick though. She’s been gone for four days now. I only have three days to find someone else to hire.” 

“Damn.” Pope takes a sip of his drink. “I guess you better get your ass into the printer shop tomorrow and make some flyers. If you don’t, drinks are on you when the clock runs out.” 

Will and Frankie cheer knowing that no matter how this bet ends, they will be getting free beer. 

“What happens if a man calls before a woman does?” Benny looks smugly at Pope. “I’m not goin’ to tell him no if it’s in my three day window of search time.”

“Won’t happen. I can feel it in my bones.” 

“Even if, what did you say before, a beautiful woman calls about the job, that doesn’t mean she’ll want to immediately hop into your bed.” Frankie states playfully.

“You think she’s going to want to hop into yours, Fish?”

He's steaming and flustered while also trying to not make a scene because the place is crawling with socialites and high society aristocrats whereas you're cool, calm, charming, blending in too well as you down your own drink. [It's icy apple juice.] and just, bamboozles him further.

'Excellent year,' you suddenly say rather seriously, peering down into your glass of icy apple juice with an impressed expression, effectively cutting off Damian, who was in the middle of a hushed, barely watered down tirade.

Y'all stare at each other for all of two nanoseconds and the events happen as follows:

you turn a bottle of iced apple cider to Damian (where did you even manage to nab one?), pointedly at the label to further explain your comment,

he slaps it out of your hand in a rush of overwhelming emotion and thereby catches the attention of everyone within y'all's general vicinity,

BOOM - you're both circled out and being stared down from all sides.

Damian wants to crawl in a hole and die, maybe.

You raise your hand and twiddle your fingers in a sweet wave and- you- that's when he sees it-

Damian is at a loss while you suddenly garner an audience!! An applauding audience!!! What the hell is going on-?

You disappear in a puff of smoke! Oh my!!

And in a grandiose puff of sparkles and thematic smoke (it's like regular smoke but cooler), you reappear with a flourish on the stage on the other side of the room! Thereby catching everyone's attention.

"Good eveninggggg, my fellow Gothamites! Wowza, I see some sexy faces here tonight! *twirls magician's hat and releases an entire army of butterflies* Enchanted to see you all! I'm (Name) and I'm your prime rib for the night! (cue pulling a whole ass pig, cute and with a bowtie, out from the inside of your coat) Or so to speak!"

Gasps and claps arise from the audience!

Damian is terse, a little terrified, and a little impressed. And he watches the entire time as you pull off a literal magic show! An interactive one, too!

Afterwards, you stand in front of an enchanted crowd and bow with a proper flourish; when you peek out over the rim of your hat, you make direct eye contact with Damian, a mischievous smile playing at your lips.

Hello, my lovely mystery friend! 🤍 Get ready for a long reply man

My favorite childhood memory- I have two that really stand out to me.

The first one is taking a day off school and going over to my grandma Sharon’s to bake holiday cookies every year. This woman would spend an entire month baking cookies and sweet treats for the entire family to go through at Christmas and take home big variety bags of goodies. Anything from butter cookies and chocolate haystacks to snowballs and spritz cookies and krumkake. If you could dream of it, this woman would make it happen while wearing a Santa hat that said “ba humbug!” on the front of it. She always enlisted the help of her grandchildren and always let us lick the spoons dripping in cookie batter after a hard day’s work. She passed away ten years ago unfortunately, but she gave me so many wonderful memories that she continues to live through.

The second one is with my dad. My parents split when I was a wee lil bean who couldn’t walk yet, so when the time rolled around every two weeks for him to come pick me up for his weekend, he always made sure to do something that was just the two of us. No matter what time of the year it was, he always made a pit stop in the next town over at the Dairy Queen and ordered himself a large chocolate cone with sprinkle crunch topping and me a small vanilla one the same way. And every two weeks, rain or shine, we would have our ice creams on the drive to his house an hour away. When I’m having a bad day, it’s one of the first things I go do bc it’s such a wholesome and happy memory.

How have I grown? Would I be the person my younger self would look up to?

I’ve grown a lot. I center myself in the love and beauty of all things whereas when I was younger, I centered the world around me. It was always Bri and her problems and I seemed to find no issue making my problems everyone else’s too (I was a troubled child). I’ve learned how to cope with my mental illness in mostly healthy ways and I now cherish those around me more for who they are. I’m not gonna lie, thinking back on it, I was a really shitty person. I’m not so shy anymore, but outgoing and goofy. I wear my heart on my sleeve and show compassion towards others. I’m more likely to choose a road of spontaneity than safety. My younger self would be ecstatic to know that I’ve been off my meds for eleven years without any major issues. She’d be hella confused at the amount of close friends I have. She would be proud of me for getting back into guitar and keeping up with my art and writing. I can’t say she’d look up to me though, because in a way, she’s still with me and she wanted to be anyone but herself.

Little Bri would be hyper focused on writing.

I like to spend my time now traveling, playing guitar, writing, or singing, but all Little Bri did was write. Lyrics, poetry, prose, short stories, memoirs, articles, fics, you name it. Somewhere, I have tubs and tubs full of over 150 spiral notebooks that are completely filled with stuff that I worked on in high school. Every Tuesday and Thursday after dinner, I would go to the local art center and partake in an author’s group with other writers as young as I was and as old as 85 and on the weekends, my mom would bring me around to different poetry slams. I was a top student in my English and literature classes and at that point, had wanted nothing more than to be a published author. Now, I’m just happy sharing my fics on here for everyone.
