Well, that...

That was something. (Cut 'cuz spoilers. Long. Small angry rant near the end.)

I can't really say it was bad, but, y'know, can't say it was all that fantastic either. Just doesn't feel like the "conclusion" it was promised as - which is honestly understandable, given that the new show is on its way. And, y'know, having to pack everything into only eleven minutes doesn't really grant ya much wiggle room. I feel like there'd be a much better payoff if it had more time to work with - twenty-two minutes like the Wil Film seasons, or a full TV movie.

It's definitely more satisfying than "Endings," tho, so I'll give it that.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I wish we'd gotten more of Oni Lloyd. Considering it was being hyped up as this big final ultimate form that may or may not end up rampaging across the city, destroying everything in sight as Lloyd takes out all the anger and frustrations that have been building up within him probably since this whole "destiny" nonsense was dropped on him, enacting a role reversal of the Kryptarium fight when Garmadon tries to face him only to finally understand exactly how he made his son feel back then when (despite Garm actually genuinely giving his all) Lloyd nearly kills him, has him by the throat and tells him "I have no father," while the Ninja are forced to confront the possibility that the only way to save their friend is to destroy him...

Yeah, Lloyd going full Oni for like five seconds only to immediately back out before actually doing anything was a letdown. But who knows, maybe they'll come back to it in the new series. Get on it, writers! Let our boy go crazy go stupid! Don't make this another Tornado of Creation!

Garmadon's second redemption certainly has room to grow. He's clearly trying, and I appreciate that, but I wish he'd made a more obvious effort that he was trying to reconcile with his son. I get that he can't just come right out and say it, not when he still can't quite comprehend just what "it" is, and I get that Lloyd wouldn't be able to just roll over and forgive him, not when he's probably still having nightmares about Seasons Eight through Ten and his whole original motivation from Season One is now his greatest fear... But still. I totally called that Christofern was serving as a stand-in for Lloyd when it came to Garmadon's feelings about him, but it felt like they were trying to push it from an allegory to a literal - pretty much any time Garm's ability to care was called into question, Christofern was the example given. The only arguable exception is that one scene with Nya, but even then, it's deflected onto Christofern so bluntly that's it's practically calling us stupid for thinking Garmadon's empathy could extend beyond his plant.

Again, tho, the new series still has a chance to remedy this. Sensei Garmadon could still return to us in some form. The Dragon half could still claw his way out of the Departed Realm, reunite with the Oni, and give Lloyd his real dad again. I like to imagine Garmadragon has been barreling across the multiverse screaming "HAVE YOU SEEN MY SON" for the past eight seasons, and the only reason he hasn't shown up yet is because there are a lot more than fourteen Realms out there. He could still turn up.

Look all I'm saying is Lloyd and Garmadon's Oni heritage has gotten its time in the spotlight, give the Dragons their turn. And while you're at it, acknowledge Wu's inhuman qualities for once. He's DragOni too.

Other Stuff I Don't Have As Much to Say About:

"Compatible" really doesn't hit as hard as Tommy was trying to convince us it would. IDK, maybe what with Zane dying every other weekend we're just desensitized to the whole ordeal. It was cute, tho, I certainly won't deny that.

Clutch still has Nadakhan's teapot. Is that ever gonna be relevant or

I can't believe they had Zane fight Mr. F and not reveal Mr. F as Echo. What do we gotta do to make them bring back Echo?!

Did they really think revealing the Overlord was responsible for the Devourer was some big unexpected twist? Pretty certain we all gathered that WAY back the first two seasons.

On that note, WOW was she-whose-name-we-do-not-speak-in-this-household's heel-face turn stupid. You were literally working with the dude who released the Devourer in the first place! If it was so easy for you to blame Lloyd for that, you should've been able to trace it back to the Overlord right from the start!

Yes I still despise she-whose-name-we-do-not-speak-in-this-household with every fiber of my being. Yes I still would've laughed and cheered if she had been murdered on-screen in such a brutal and violent manner that it never would've been allowed on television if they weren't Legos. Yes I still want Lloyd to go on an insane Oni-powered rampage with her as the first and only casualty. No I am not sorry and no I will never forgive her and no I will never accept her as anything other than the thing that ruined Garmadon. SHE IS NOT HIS DAUGHTER AND NEVER WILL BE AND I WOULD GLADLY REWRITE THE ENTIRE SHOW FROM SCRATCH TO PREVENT HER FROM EVER EXISTING

Can't say I was expecting the Ninja to lose their powers again (I figured they would've permanently gone full Dragon or something - another "dead without actually dying" case à la Nya turning into the ocean), but, y'know, can't say I'm too shocked by it either. Last time this happened was, what, Season Five? If anything they were overdue.

All in all, a decent end to a season and an alright end to an era, but not so much to an entire series like it's being billed as. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, and I've definitely seen worse finales (*cough cough* Star vs. the Forces of Evil *cough*), but that's not to say there isn't any wasted potential here. Maybe there wouldn't have been such high expectations if it hadn't been played up as this heart-wrenching, soul-crushing eleven-minute epic. Maybe if it'd lived up to the hype I wouldn't be writing this. Or maybe regardless of how things turned out, there would always be a little disappointment mixed into it. Who's to say, really.

Either way, the 2023 series certainly has a lot to live up to, and a fairly solid foundation to build off of. There's still a few loose ends to tie up, plot points to resolve, mysteries to uncover, stories to finish. What's up in the other Realms? Where are the Time Twins? Will we ever see Morro again?

We're just gonna have to wait and see, I suppose.

It's been a day since the whole thing with Eddie, he had made his choice to walk away from you and any future you both might have. He didn't want you. You were convinced by that and more reason to leave.

You were helping Steve and Robin at Family Video watching them bicker together, you loved their friendship.

" That doesn't go there, dingus!" Robin grumbled, smacking him in the back of his head. Steve winced, rubbing the back of his head.

" Y/N" he wines catching your attention. " hm?" you haven't really paid attention to what was going on but looked over to him, you were in the horror section but haven't chosen anything.

" Robin is being mean to me"he pouts, his bottom lips is out as he stomps his feet.

" Stop acting like a child, and listen to her and maybe she won't" Steve gaped hearing you were on her side then his.

" You don't love me anymore" he grumbles turning around with his arms across his chest. " You need to stop being a baby, that's what you need to do" Robin smacked him at his head again, he glares at here before he looks at you seeing the distant look in your eyes.

" Y/N?" he calls out to you but you are too busy thinking on what Eddie has said to you. He just walked away from you like you were nothing.

" Do I look happy? Do I still look the same Y/N? You know, before you know?" you wave both your hands around, shrugging. Steve frowns as does Robin.

" What do you mean? Did someone say something?" Robin asks. You shrug again, " Eddie did" both their eyes go wide.

" You and Eddie talked" you nodded looking down at your worn out shoes instead of them. You were nervous on what they would say.

" when?" Robin makes her way over to you and pulls you into a hug seeing you starting to shake. You can't control it but you let a few tears shed. " yesterday, he didn't bother to tell me to stay, he spat bullshit and left"

Steve is gritting his teeth as his fist are by his side. No one hurts his best friend like that and spats bullshit. You two didn't even hear Steve leave.

" Where is Harrington?" you pull away from Robin as she turns, but then hears the BMW reverse as he speeds off. You look at Robin with an unknown look on your face but you had a feeling knowing where he was going.

" Hey" you turn to see Max standing there, with a glum look on her face.

" What are you doing here?" you ask. She motioned to the grave stones ahead of yours. " Visiting Billy" you nod looking to where his grave stone is.

You ran your fingers through her red hair not knowing what else to say but hug her. She pulls away, " Eddie is stupid for letting you go like that"

" He doesn't love me anymore" the way you said it made her own heart break for you. She wants you to stay, " Please stay" she begs grabbing your hand in hers. " I can't. It hurts too much" she nods blaming the metal head boyfriend of yours as she rushes out of the graveyard leaving you confused.

The door slams to Family Video and Max makes her way inside, anger seeping through her.

" Okay Max, please don't break the door otherwise you'd have to pay for it" her eyes can the store and lands on the metal head. A little birds told her where he might be. She stomps up to him and grabs his jacket. He turns around, confused at her.

" You're the biggest idiot I know" Eddie rolls his eyes hearing it the second time this week. " I already told him, Max" Steve says. She puts a finger up to silence him.

" Are you really going to let her leave just like that?" Eddie looks down at his own shoes not bothering to answer her. " I'm talking to you!" He looks at her, and shrugs.

" You're a coward, the girl you love is going to leave Hawkins for good and all you can do is push her away and tell her the best of luck? Are you serious, dude?" Eddie blinks his eyes. He knows what he is doing is wrong but he is doing it for you.

" It's best for her" he finally answer's Max. She laughs crossing her arms across her chest. "You need to open your eyes, she loves you. She died to protect you, she wanted you to live, to finish school, she wanted you to feel like you mattered! She is like a big sister to me and when she came back, it was like everything was going to be okay. But she is leaving again, and you" she pokes him in the chest with her pointy finger, " you are letting her go. You love her, what's the problem?"

" I'm not good enough for her" Max scoffs.

Gotta be honest, Something to Believe In makes me so irrationally angry. Their whole relationship feels forced and only there for the romance grab :)

I feel like they could've done a lot with Kath's character without making her fall for Jack

Like it makes sense that Jack would feel things for her. She represents this freedom he's never gotten to have. She helped get the newsies a better hand in life. Granted it isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better. Not to mention all the newsies have the emotional range of a speck of dust.

Kath, on the other hand, seems very in tune with her emotions. She knows how she feels about Jack during Watch What Happens, and I personally don't think much changed between them between that and StBI.

I think it would've been far better to have Jack, this emotionally ignorant artist pining after Kath, the 'sure of herself' journalist helping make a better life for his family, despite the repercussions of going against her father, who was originally in it just to further her career but has grown to care for and love all of these kids.

I also haven't mentioned this at all, but I love the newsies that push in Jack's 'penthouse' and just sit at the bottom of the set pieces.

Very good at acting - the carefree persona is his default (and favourite), but far from the only face he can put on.

His favoured fields of expertise are anything technology related, but especially programming and code; and biology, chemistry and toxinology. The latter group don't get as much everyday use.

He has an extremely active, powerful mind, so there aren't many things he finds difficult to get his head around if he spends any amount of time and concentration on them. Give him a challenge and reason to overcome it or find a solution and there's a high chance he'll come up with one.

Very observant and rapidly absorbs new information, with an excellent memory to match. He also learns new skills easily (again, if he spends the time and concentration on doing so).

This show brought me out of a lifelong severe depression.

I have now pretty much been stable for since? Episode 3?

I no longer dream of death every day. I no longer dread every single day because it means more pain.

Does this mean I'm cured and everything will be fine always? No! But the friends I have made are invaluable. And the struggle will continue. I have a lot that needs sorting in my life but now I have some strength to start to do it.

I hope that long after this is over and gone I can still maintain. But it isn't just the show it was also the sense of community. People were having the same in depth takes I was. They were excited about it!

I'm having a lot of firsts in my life right now. And even if the show were to end sooner than expected I would still have the resiliency to make my own or find my own things that make me light up. I feel like I can fully embrace things. Even fanfictions ya'll got me reading au's

I hate au's!

But I guess I don't! Idk what sort of crack they put in this show and fandom. But I legitimately think it has saved my quality of life. For my life, for 29 years! I had one respite with one of my Guinea pigs but she was always sick. I got a taste of happiness...

But this has been Stability. I've already had days where I might relapse a little and I am much better equipped to deal. And actually more people actually fucking care.

I'm not going to tag the fandom but thank you all for being in the same crackhead energy as me. Making me laugh and cry. And inviting me into your spaces.

I am seeing things in my life for the first time with real clarity and once again attempting to navigate areas I've no expirience with. I've been standing up for myself more. It's all been up side. I hope I won't feeling like shit again but based off of the data here it seems like there's more than enough to keep my brain in stable spot for a while. Wish I could explain but basically never say never but I think this is a permanent change.

When people ask me how are you. I say "actually I'm doing pretty good today thanks!" and mean it! I had a rough day today but I'd still say it was pretty good.

I hope to continue making my small contributions to the fandom and I will consider the d a e m y r a podcast and will be talking with some people before next episode.

And to those who follow me for other stuff don't worry h o t d has an off season coming and it looks like we're looking at 2024 for a release because they're filming in spring next year.

The storm begins within no time. Hard rain beating down on the ocean and sand, with the waves retreating and crashing over and over again. Right after he left, you tried laying in your shared bed, hoping that would relax you.. nothing. You tried working on some new tops and loincloths to past the time.. nothing. All you could do was wait and pace. You stand, grabbing your blanket. Wrapping the material around you and turning your back towards the entrance, knawing on your inner lip from stress. He still isn't back yet. What is taking him so long?

As if right on queue, you hear heavy footsteps behind you. You quickly turn around to find your mate in the doorway, completely soaked from the rain.

He notices you've gone still, and uses this moment to brush your hair from your shoulder to begin planting kisses over the smooth teal skin. You lean back into him, enveloped from the warmth of the fire and the heat from your face that is shooting sparks all over your body.

ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ W R I T I N G / T H R E A D S ㅤㅤㅤ while i enjoy asks, i prefer plotted interactions, as having some sort of plan in mind usually leads to longer threads. i focus on these, but they aren't required to interact. i also encourage you to continue asks if you so desire. activity may be sporadic. i not only have other blogs, but i run a business and help my family. additionally, i have chronic health issues that complicate everything. these may lead to unannounced hiatuses for short periods of time ( most no more than a month ), but i always return. if you'd like to keep in regular contact and you're a mutual, please ask for my discord. i place ic content into the queue, mixing it with text or image reblogs. but like everyone occasionally, i can be very impulsive and post immediately. i lightly format and use icons. this includes small text, indents, increased spaces between sentences, and occasional bold/italics or special fonts. i don't require either formatting or icons and if either is an impediment for you, please let me know.

ㅤㅤㅤ───────── ㅤ S H I P P I N G / N S F W ㅤㅤㅤ i ship with chemistry. this means i may be selective with romantic shipping, but queries toward this are always welcome. while i don't autoship, i enjoy shipping canons and ocs. thus, i feel that a character's platonic relationships are just as or, sometimes, more important than their romantic ones. i don't need to ship to write and would far rather build detailed enemies and friends than a half-cooked romance. i occasionally write nsfw but prefer to do so off tumblr to prevent possibly being seen by minors.

ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ D I S P U T E S / D Y N A M I C S ㅤㅤ ㅤ this is a mun doesn't equal muse blog. i don't care what allegiances or beliefs your muse may have. unless i see clear and substantiated evidence of various bigoted beliefs out of character, i'll always assume you're a decent human being. also, even if we write people with good views and intentions, we still might not entirely agree with their choices. it wouldn't be fair to assume that either so please, extend me the same courtesy. i'm anti-callout. for several years, i've witnessed a slow degradation of what is considered a valid callout. often, they have little to no substantiated evidence, are a misunderstanding, and \ or result from twisted evidence in the aftermath of a fallout between friends. unless i see substantiated evidence of criminal behavior, i won't reblog them. that being said, if someone i follow has harassed you, please come and talk to me about it privately. i don't tolerate bullies. on a lighter note, i don't practice mains or exclusives. if you find people you want to be mains and exclusives with, i wish you all the best of times however!
