Okay here’s another meta explanation for my reclamation AU, not as fun. Yeah, i actually included the pedophilic homophobia biphobia rumors in my narrative. Y’know why? Y’know what I think? I think Bruce’s entire in narrative life being monitored and reported on by newspapers and celebrity gossip, is a nightmare. There’s something to be said about how media (like books) can affect you, and I’m not letting it slide.
There’s a characterized version of Wertham that actually exists in my story, and instead of criticizing fictional stories about jewish coded heroes, he’s in-narrative criticizing the heroes directly (well still book form but y’know). Slight issue is only Batman and Bruce would have to have separate rumors, so the Bruce rumor comes slightly differently, but that’s okay because then i can just use the toxicity of the wealthiest class to explain it. Anyways, I’m referencing this real event for a story idea as a critique on media, same as this guy but i reversed it back at him. Counter argument i guess.
When Bruce becomes acquainted with the queer friend group (based after some tumblr peeps and culture), they hesitantly accept him. The media on the other hand? Well Bruce is covering up for the most part, but its not long before the reporters and gazette starts assuming he’s gay again, also wonder if he’s taking advantage of his lack of privacy to spread that rumor in the first place to hide something. Of course, when Bruce kisses Jack on camera, the media went wild. Even the citizens that don’t care for celebrities heard about it. So the homophobic biphobic stuff starts happening, but there was a surprisingly big positive reaction where many queers acknowledged the homophobic backlash and the lack of privacy Bruce has, so they said the media should shut the fuck up and leave him alone. So Gotham suddenly became very queer accepting, while also highlighting the homophobia, and Bruce’s reputation while still criticized and suspicious for being the richest guy in town, was pretty good. The Gazette got canceled so they tried saving face by not talking about it anymore. Lots of media outlets got canceled.
The good thing wasn’t Bruce being publicized, it actually sucks lots: Jack constantly get insulted for being “boring” and being questioned for being used as a media stunt to hide something (fun parts is Jack proving the media wrong and using the spotlight to openly criticize shit and to prop up his activist group).
For the toxic masculinity and internalized homophobia and being closeted interpretation, I actually disagree? Idk how wealth works but I think he’d get away with it as an open secret. I mean he’s rich, what could a homophobe do to the richest guy possibly ever??? So Bruce doesn’t technically get outed, don’t worry about that. He just preferred keeping his partners secret for privacy, becuz again, the media sucks. He allows Alfred to know, and anyone else in private like friends or family. I had Selina teach him the term bisexual but he already knew, just not the word or how it’s not as normal as he assumed.

how could anyone ever say natalie didn’t love misty when she knew misty broke the transponder on purpose, kept it a secret to protect misty until her last breath, drove across the state with misty despite knowing that misty tampered with her car, forgives her again and again and again, and ends up laughing about every insane thing misty does to her in the end (*cough cough* playfully teasing misty about the hidden camera and smiling about it when misty eventually finds natalie and refuses to leave her…) oh! and she looks at her like THIS.
Tumblr media
in BOTH timelines.
Tumblr media
it’s actually crazy to me that people think mistynat is unrequited. like…have you seen nat’s face when she looks at misty????

A continuation of this post I made
I imagine Steve genuinely doesn’t think about Eddie, like at all. Besides the occasional “what is he yelling about in that table” or “ Munson actually showed up to class” or once in sophomore year he thinks “how much does Munson charge for an ounce of weed? Would he take a $50 for an ounce” which causes Eddie to wait around all day at the picnic table wishing for some shmuck to offer $50 for just an ounce, but no one shows up (Steve had to go pick up Dustin after school and didn’t want him to find weed the weed when he inevitably starts going through Steve’s car)
The lack of soulmate thoughts really irks Eddie, because he knows his soulmate is in Hawkins, but he never thinks about Eddie, like at all??? Positively or negatively?? Eddie jumps on more tables, he blares loud music from his van, he is in a band, he is the drug dealer for all the teens in Hawkins and all his soulmate thinks is “why the fuck did Munson double park his van, I’m going to be late looking for a parking spot now” it absolutely drives him crazy.
He eventually figures out his soulmate must be a jock of some kind because one day he hears “what is Munson doing under the bleachers?” when some sports team is let out of playing with balls practice. He is briefly heartbroken his soulmate isn’t a nerd like him, but then spends the night thinking about how a certain fluffy haired jock could play with his balls anytime.
Steve isn’t not thinking about Eddie on purpose, but they just don’t run in the same circles, so he doesn’t really think about him too much, just in a genuine, “I don’t know them, don’t interact with them, so I don’t really think about them” sort of way. Especially after befriending the kids, Steve’s focus goes to keeping them safe and being a babysitter instead of finding his soulmate.
Steve’s experience with his soulmates thoughts is completely different. Starting in middle school he heard his soulmate think he was cute which he thought was nice. As he got older his soulmate would still think he was cute, but also handsome or pretty which, he doesn’t know any girls who call their boyfriends pretty but ya know, he can roll with that. He thinks he will have to roll with a lot of stuff, since hai soulmate seems to into a…a lot of interesting things, to say the least. Steve has dated a lot of girls but none of them seemed to want to rub their face in his chest hair like his soulmate did, who also wonder is Steve was that hairy everywhere which- he was but he didn’t think a girl would want to know about that.
He would be in the middle of a basket ball game and he hit with a 15 minute monologue about how wonderful his ass looked in “thise little green shirts that ride up his ass in the best way” and how his soulmate “wanted to be those shorts” causing Steve to miss three different shots. Also with all this wildly kinky stuff and even general sex things Steve has never heard of or thought about he figures he should become more knowledgeable to better be prepared for his soulmate.
One day when Steve is cleaning up a drink he spilled in the cafeteria and heard “god Harrington looks good on his knees, bet he would look even better with my cock in his mouth” figures chances are his soulmate isn’t a girl at all.
With not much else to loose and a new door opened up to him, Steve starts spending time thinking equally horny thinvs about different guys he sees in class, just to see if they will react to what he is thinking. This is how he figures out Eddie is his soulmate.
Steve notices eddies table is getting a little rowdy, as is always does before Eddie gets up on someone’s table and he rants about jocks and preppy girls while stepping on people’s lunches, Steve thinks “what if comes over here, spits in my stretched out hole, and fucks me right next to Heathers Halloways tuna sandwich”
Eddie, whose soulmate didn’t even think about Eddie that one time his car got spray painted a fit was all the school talked about for a week, was NOT expecting that at 12:30 on a Tuesday and promptly trips on a chair and slams face first into the lunch table, breaking his nose.
Eddies friends rush him to the nurse and Steve is torn between this being a sign Eddie is soulmate or Eddie just clumsy, Steve has seen him walk into a door twice, so he don’t 100% sure. Steve decided to test this anytime he has a clear viewpoint of Eddie and starts thinking the most horny, kinky things possibly about Eddie to see if Eddie reacts proves he is Steve’s soulmate (also revenge because Steve had to go through years of Eddie horny pondering interrupting Steve during important tasks games or tests so Steve figures he should pay that forward during eddies dungeons and dorks games)

I really, really need some of you to understand that while ideologically, the Democratic Party might not a monolith (right leaning centrists to progressives exist within the same party). As an institution, the Democratic Party absolutely does function as a monolith. Whether it’s internal party discipline, donor influence, electoral strategy, or leadership pressure, there are mechanisms in place that discourage dissent and keep members in line.
A perfect example? Out of 200+ House Democrats, only 14 (less than 10%) signed a letter demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil—despite overwhelming calls from their constituents, despite the clear danger of this moment, despite knowing full well what their base is asking of them. That’s not necessarily because the other 190+ personally oppose it; but it’s def because the institutional weight of the party makes it incredibly difficult to break from leadership without facing political and financial consequences.
And yet, when people criticize this clear failure, when they rightfully demand that their representatives reflect the values they were elected on, they’re met with accusations of “helping Republicans.” That logic is not just fucking stupid—it’s actively harmful to democracy. Holding elected officials accountable is not party disloyalty - it’s literally what voters are supposed to do. It is the most basic function of political engagement. It's literally how the window gets moved!
The Democratic Party isn’t entitled to unwavering support. People criticize because they expect better, because they believe change is possible. Silence and complacency don’t strengthen the party—pressure does. Every major policy shift (labor laws, LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights etc)in this country happened because people refused to shut up and fall in line.
So no, calling out Democrats for failing their base is not "helping Republicans." What actually helps Republicans? Democrats validating GOP narratives by condemning student protesters. Democrats failing to take bold stances. Democrats making themselves indistinguishable from the people they claim to oppose.
I just wish some of you would shut the fuck up about how people approach pushing the window left so maybe we can have more than 10% of house Dems representing us.

To me there’s like a line between the Bad Kids who were always themselves extremely authentically and that fucked them up socially (Riz, Adaine, Gorgug) and the Bad Kids who spent a good portion of their lives playing a part and that fucked them up mentally (Fabian, Kristen, Fig)
#that’s why the latter three blended in so well to the popular kid landscape: they’re so used to playing a part#meanwhile riz adaine and gorgug are very unused to being popular and it’s a very big change for them#gorgug to an extent also has to deal with repressing his rage so he does get it a bit#however he doesn’t have to deal with his entire identity and personality for others like the other three#what fucks me up is that fabian and fig are still to some extent playing a part even if it’s changed over the years#a good part of Kristen’s arc is her being authentically herself and the consequences that brought#so she kinda gets that nice reprieve that I feel like the other two don’t get as much#and yeah the two of them have the bad kids and fig has ayda and they can drop the act around them#but they do still have to play a part#(and if you’ll allow me to be insane over fabian for a minute) the fact that outside of the party fabian doesn’t really have anyone he feels#comfortable being himself around is one of the tragedies of his character considering he’s still trying to be perfect for everyone else#even fig is learning to be her authentic self with people outside of her friends and gf and fabian just doesn’t get that#anyways. rant over. just will always be thinking about Them#autism (mads) speaks#fantasy high#the bad kids#fabian aramais seacaster#riz gukgak#adaine abernant#gorgug thistlespring#kristen applebees#fig faeth#d20 fantasy high#dimension 20 fantasy high

luke fumbling in recruiting percy has to be one of his greatest failures. a beautiful thing the show does regarding luke and percy's relationship is building rapport between them through shared moments like settling into camp, eating meals together, but especially through swordfighting lessons. the swordfighting scene at the beginning of episode 8 not only reveals that percy and luke already share similar beliefs about the fear-based system the gods have cultivated, but it's clear the conversation stays with percy when he fights ares and later calls out zeus on his waning skills as a father and a king. however, luke's plan fell through the moment percy learned that the winged-shoes were meant to drag him to tartarus. not only that, but the shoes nearly killed grover, a friend percy cared for deeply. if nourishing loyalty and trust was the key to ensuring a partnership with percy, then it was luke's faulty planning, arrogance, and impatience that cost him the greatest ally he could ask for.

at the end of the day, for me, the most disappointing thing about C3 isn't the poor narrative structure, the bad pacing where everything feels dragged out and rushed at the same time, or never giving the characters the space and focus to breathe and develop their own centric subplots
it is ultimately that Marquet started off very strong as a setting and did feel like it was making strides to properly draw from its Asian and SWANA inspirations, including with good use of work by other authors and consultants, only for that to rapidly fall off as the Ruidus plot became central and for there to be just as little space for Marquet as there was for Bells Hells as characters beyond carriers of The Moon Plot, with no space to develop and explore either to potential and richness. It's disappointing for Marquet especially, given the continued dearth of Asian and SWANA inspirations in Western AP, and I felt C3 started off promising with Marquet as a grounded and rich location in those inspirations.
I think a lot about Ela Lumas, whose sons' murders is the inciting incident, and how her title Ginang is a Tagalog word and how exciting that was for me personally. The fact that we lost this even as smaller notes, and that ultimately Marquet was supplanted in favor of Vasselheim (not even Issylra as a whole) and Ruidus without any real grounding of why Marquet was the setting in the first place or what Marquet's importance was specifically to the narrative other than "it has to be set somewhere", is just so intensely disappointing to me. The biggest disappointment I have with C3.
#Critical Role things#Don't get out of hand on this post bc I WILL lock it if everyone is annoying.#The fact that for YEARS too many (white) fans fawned over how ~important~ it was that Imogen has an American Southern accent.#Despite.... Imogen being from Marquet.#Especially since she's from the southwest and southern and western Marquet were conceptualized by de Armas as inspired by Filipino culture.#“It's so important” Don't insult me. Get back to me when she has a Filipino accent.#I don't want to hear ever again about what white fans think is so important about Imogen American Southern accent#when for me it felt so unnecessarily and aggressively Americanizing of a continent that was not American.#God sorry. I just was writing the post and then remembered the literal years of “it's SO important Imogen's accent is American Southern.”#“how important and revolutionary and countercultural and expansive and deepening the richness of the world” like shut up white person#I'm still upset over how happy I was about Ginang Ela Lumas and then we never got that again.#Then I had to see fawning over how IMPORTANT a character from Marquet is American Southern. I should've been meaner during the campaign.#I have this problem with Ashton too since they grew up in Marquet but nobody does the fawning “it's SO important their accent is American”#so like it doesn't warrant a whole rant because the thing that gets me is the breathless acting like Imogen's accent is revolutionary#Sorry I got sidetracked. I saw red for a moment.#Anyway everyone who drew Imogen in Filipino cultural dress in the early campaign ily#Frankly! If Imogen was in a Maria Clara gown or similar while having the American Southern accent I wouldn't be saying anything.#But then I suspect neither would all these fawning white fans.

the fact that the only groups talking about antisemitism as an issue are right-wing groups lying about it to further their desire for war and societal divisions just adds the cherry on top of the cake of this bullshit
like, antisemitism is on the rise but trump isn't doing shit about it, he's talking about it as another way of blaming the jews for the societal divisions that he is adding to. sunak over here before he left at least said it was bad, but then starmer took over so it's back to "not being an issue"
just generally not loving being in the middle of the right using the left's antisemitism to fuel more antisemitism, and watching it actually work in real time
