Secret Relationships - let the cursed polycule live to the detriment of literally everyone

Secret Relationships was such a ride! I must ramble about it. So the world's most toxic love square (polycule-that-could-have-been) boiled down to one doe-eyed poor dude who wears his expensive but oddly baggy outfits to his job where at times he was the only one working on the project (I know it was a tense moment but the conference room scene with Suhyeon taunting Senghyeon and pulling Daon's chair- tell me half the pain in Daon's eyes wasn't because he was legit trying to work on something important to him and the other two were contributing nothing. Tho I'll give Senghyeon a pass lol)- and then 3 love interest, 2 who are red flags and one who looks like the greenest green flag to ever green.

Although, I tell ya, seeing others look into Senghyeon as a character and start pointing out some of his actions and he started to look more yellow, but the sheer wall of red bouncing off those other two lunatics sure makes him look pretty darn green by comparison. I think the writers intended for him to be green, but give a competent fanwriter some time and it wouldn't take much to craft a Senghyeon who wields emotion manipulation + well intentioned? boundary stomping to get what he wants, instead of a raging temper or puppet master machinations.

So Daon's life boiled down to 3 people who fall into "I love you and to prove it I would"-

1. Die for you

2. Kill for you

3. Kill you (and myself)

Just just just....! What a ride. I enjoyed the telenovela level shenanigans.

Oh, but the toxic poly potential!!! Look, if we go back to the 7 years ago Christmas/Future Murder Cabin flashback, tell me that Jaemin and Suhyeon couldn't have tweaked their dumbass plan to just be 'let's feel Daon out and see if we can tie him to us both," with the rational that an unattached Daon attracts too much attention and two pairs of eyes on him are better then one. So they convince him to date them both (and i use 'convince' here in the most leave-him-no-real-choice way) and boom. Our protagonist is trapped in the lion's den. They make that cabin their little getaway 'love' nest and slowly work to isolate Daon completely.

Can the two psychos get to a place where they get with each other? For the sake of society, that would have been ideal (good grief let the two match each other's freak level and take themselves off the market), but I personally headcanon that they would at most tolerate the other with Daon as the buffer. And, oh, the things that would unfold. They attic-wife Daon (I saw Cabin-husband earlier and lol) and become the most evil throuple in all the land.

Presenting a numbered list to organize my rambling thoughts:

1. Jaemin is still an unstable schemer, it's his life blood. And while he's come to this truce with Suhyeon for now, the more time he has with Daon the more his tolerance for Suhyeon's own boundary-stomping tendencies wanes. My dude was ready to burn it all down- with time, he's gonna want to have it all to himself. But he's subtle, he waits, he plots, he sees that Suyheon's temper is still present and it scares Daon. So therefore, our Master Manipulator girlboss leans into it- needle Suyheon when he returns in a foul mood after visiting his family, the temper explodes and Daon naturally gravitates to Jaemin.

2. Anytime Daon isn't focusing on Suhyeon, he gets in his moods. We did not get through the series and come out thinking Suhyeon would be fixed if he actually got Daon. His temper would be tempered-ha! - with Daon in his life, but his lifelong problem is his abusive family. So Suhyeon takes any chance to get Daon's complete attention, even if it means just snatching him up in the middle of a convo with Jaemin. Tension builds over time, Daon is trapped, did these two even allow him to get a job? I could see that being a hard line with him, so fine, he can work (at the company Suyheon oversees), so now work isn't even a valid escape route.

3. Perhaps we get a bit of unhinged/schemer Daon??! As a treat? As a survival mechanism as this polyship forges on and he is trapped in the middle and maybe one day he realizes that huh, look at that, I want to work on this project but Suyheon shut it down as it would be with another team he doesn't directly oversee. Oh, what's that? When i spend more time with Jaemin, Suyheon acts out. If i withdrawal, Suhyeon either acts out more, or... he has a chance to love bomb as a make up and play the hero who gives me the project. Daon reinforces this behavior, showering Suhyeon in attention.

4. Jaemin ain't spared, either. Suyheon is out for work so Jaemin is determined to occupy 100% of Daon's person. And Daon leans into it- responding exactly in ways Jaemin wants, letting little slips like "I love how quiet/peaceful this night is with you, hyung. / you treat me so well, what would I do without you." Jaemin smugly eats it up. This is how it should be.

5. Suhyeon returns, temper already sparked from work/family drama/just being away and knowing Jaemin has had unsupervised time with Daon, and Daon just flips on a dime. Suddenly, he's focused on Suhyeon, placating him, no longer hiding away or behind Jaemin but instead placing himself right in front of Suhyeon. I'm going off of that Scene in ep 6- to placate Suhyeon, it takes Daon submitting himself. And it works- Suhyeon is tamed (for now) and Jaemin is left regretting ever trying to needle Suhyeon to be more volatile if it means Daon switches his attention entirely. Daon establishes his own pattern of positive reinforcement on Suhyeon and with time, he can convince the other to let him work that project or go out shopping on his own. He just has to be careful not to push for too much too soon, but Daon sharpens his own brand of subtle manipulation.

6. Jury's out if he could pull the same off with Jaemin- i don't think J would ever get to the place of letting Daon out without his supervision unless absolutely necessary. So it's kind of the situation where a child ask one parent while knowing the other would say no lol. Daon gets to the point of knowing he can convince Suyheon of something he wants (or the rare occasion he can convince Jaemin instead), and go on his merry way fully knowing it would result in an argument among the other two.

6. Maybe on a rare bout of freedom Daon has a scooter-crash meet cute with Senghyeon. Maybe this sparks something on both ends- or just gives Daon a clue that there are other people in the world outside of the gilded cage Jamein & Suhyeon trapped him in.

So many thoughts surrounding this glorious mess of a show.

(1) train master chidori

in terms of me redesigning folami, i think i'm also gonna tweak her personality a bit too. i want to give her braids and slicked down baby hairs instead of the initial poofs that i had her with previously--and i think that may change which association creature/thing that i want her to be associated with bc i mostly just associated her with poodles because of her hair LOL. in terms of her personality, i originally made her a bit airheaded but i think i may kinda wanna give her more mature vibes since she's technically gonna be the oldest and most experienced of chidorky's crew. more... zakuro from tmm energy tbh. i think that may be the vibe i wanna go for for her lol.

(2) celestial weddings

beloved extremely wholesome polycule shenanigans lol. i think the one character that i know much less about their romance arc with dag is muu? muu is from denjai, which is the fourth sphere and its a swampland and marshy type of place. muu themself is the youngest of all of dag's lovers and it definitely shows in how upbeat they are and how they very much look up to dag in an almost hero worship kind of way. tbh they probably have the senpai/kouhai romantic relationship arc and ngl its very cute. muu also flaps their hands whenever they get excited about something and they tend to stumble over their words when they get excited, which is a lot lol.

(3) nondisclosure

i used to be sooo back and forth about nyseah and 17's relationship when i made the characters many many moons before; (and actually now that i think about it, most of the characters from that wip, except everything relating to owen and helios's storyline still exists in this version of the story lol. idk if i'll ever go back to those two characters but they did have a sweet relationship, it was just SO thematically different than everything else that was going on, which is how it developed into what i call now nondisclosure LOL) i actually kind of wanted them to get together only because i built up 17 to be a sort of "he's justified for his actions and he actually does care about nyssie.... somehow" back then. but i think i was also biased because he was one of the first "morally grey characters" i really ever made and i suppose back then i was much simpler in what i wanted from those kinds of characters.

when i think about nondisclosure now, 17 barely plays a role in it from what i think. tbh i think 12 plays more of a role than he does and that's because i'm obsessed with 12 and i think everyone should be obsessed with 12 but this isn't about him this is about 17 and nyssie. i think it works better for nyssie to not get with him in the end because like he seriously violated her in a way that younger me didn't really see an issue with (thanks ya and anime for not thinking this kind of relationship was bad or that it could be fixed LMAOOO... not to say that i don't enjoy making those kinds of relationships now, its just the fact that now i'm more likely to lean into the relationship being fucked up LMAO). anyway tho, mama nyssie and her brood of kiddos is the best ending for her because its the one where she's the happiest :D

(4) sixteen candles

ranger being aromantic makes so much of how he acted in all of the old chapters that i wrote many moons ago make so much fucking sense. like seriously, he was soooo noncommittal to the point of it being basically a meme, and even tho the friend i would talk with about these characters at the time helped me make a character for him to be with and i 'enjoyed' it to a certain extent, it always felt kind of off? and i think its because the person ranger will always be the closest with is always gonna be nanette, like they are inseperable and i think them defining a qpr is actually So Fucking Good for them. i'm kinda obsessed with their dynamic ngl, adn i also like the idea that ranger is just like down to fuck all of his besties and at the same time they all have a relationship with each other where that's just a thing that they do.

i really need to work on roger tho because he is so conflicted about a lot of things. not just to get him open to the fucking really, but mostly just because he has the roughest go of it relating to family and it kinda hits home for me personally a bit, so in some ways i feel like idk how i should handle it. but overall, love they. i should think about them more tbh LOL

(5) the liminal space series (overall)

chloe being involved in jenna's story is honest to god still so funny to me. like here's this "average" small town popular girl, who's popular by virtue of being normal enough and outgoing enough that everyone likes her, but having a bit of an alt style so people think she's edgy and unique and then all of a sudden she's hanging out with the town weirdos trying to hunt down a what? what did you say it was jenna? a chupa--WhAT?

and the fact that she's so taken aback with how casually jenna says that she likes her that it just takes her and her sexuality for a wild ride and at the end of it all she has to go to college and pretend that she didn't just have the craziest senior year/summer of her fucking life LMAOOO its just so funny to me.

Her favorite kingdom is the Unseelie Court, and would probably move there if it wasn’t so far from her birthplace (she dies a lot)

Her favorite food is nettle pancakes

If she’s in Umory-Ond and sees a blue-eye mushroom she’s gonna eat it no matter what

Her favorite animals are snakes and cone snails

She’s bi

The magnet staff is made of cobalt, nickel, and magic crystal

Yue doesn’t just use illusion magic to turn her eyes red because she thinks illusions are lame and prefers “real” magic like transmutation. And she doesn’t transmutate them because I imagine it’d be really hard to transmutate your own eyes, like doing eye surgery on yourself with a mirror, and given how she fucked up Dr. Awesomeness’ eyes she’s not gonna risk it, and buying contacts is cheaper than hiring somebody else to do it. Especially since she’d have to do it again every time she dies.

About Vanella

My original versions of Vanella and Pakila had white hair (in fact Vanella was named Vanilla) but I changed it to black since they’re dworfs to have it make more sense that they live in Zareen. But like I said, Vanella wants to get transmutated to an elf and move to Mogdir, and since I’m so nostalgic for her old look, I decided to just make that canon. I can’t find a better drawing to save my life but she’d look something like this (warning: crappy old drawing)

And for some reason at some point I gave her an edgy spider tattoo that totally ruins her color scheme. And I’ll sort of bring that back too: Yue is the one doing the transmutation, and gives her an edgy spider tattoo as a prank because she finds Vanella annoying.

I think after Yue has transmutated Vanella and she notices the spider tattoo, Yue goes “I guess, spider, on your arm” and since she can’t lie, lets Vanella come to the conclusion that an actual spider got on her arm and got accidentally fused into her. Yue makes a vague sound that could be interpreted as “yes” and kicks out Vanella once she fails to produce a good enough monster trading card to convince her to remove it.

But you gotta understand, earlier Vanella asked Yue if she can call her Yue, Yue said “mmh” and Vanella immediately started calling her Huey-Dewey-Louie, referred to Mr. Garnet as “my eggs-husband, I call him that because he’s such an egghead, Gargleblaster” when telling how she got Yue’s contact, and sang an entire verse of Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes when describing what she wants to get transmuted. Can you blame Yue

It’s actually a pretty good transmutation though, Vanella can do magic and everything. I imagine about on the level of a gaian made magical as an adult. She can deal with one edgy spider tattoo. The first spell she learns is an illusion to cover it up. Also, she’s shorter than average elves (Yue is not very good at making people tall), but she’s totally fine with that as she’s still taller than she’s used to.

The Looming Games

This is sort of a crack idea me and @darkwingphoenix came up with. Basically, every 4 years, 24 divines fight to the (temporary) death in the wilderness Hunger Games-style in this game funded by the World Athenaeum, and it’s televised by Zareen and shown all over the world, or re-enacted by actors in Nymph Pact territories because that’s funny.

There’s some who regularly compete in it, like Devajaya, Okatogg and Hulushka, and some occasionally attend. But since they can’t always get enough willing divines, sometimes they have to kidnap a few random divines and force them to attend for people’s entertainment. They get magic gems implanted in their necks that track their status and location, prevent them from killing themselves before the games, and explode Suicide Squad-style if they bring any Divine Executioners in. It’s a bit fucked up but that’s on brand for this world.

Misc

Since Dr. Awesomeness was born in Zareen I figure she actually looks Asian-ish, kinda like the canon minervae Mercy. I think she has those narrower eyes under the goggles (if we ignore that one old drawing). In a humanized AU maybe Mercy could be her mom.

Mr. Garnet is allergic to bees. And I’m not sure if Garnet is his first or last name.

Vanella loves food made of bugs, which is one of the reasons she wants to move to Mogdir

I have a lot of other old OCs that I’m thinking of loominggaiaizing, and the ones I mentioned on Discord were Pakila’s probably only friend Maleena (the green-haired girl with one arm) and annoyingly friendly popular girl Sineriina (blue hair and dark skin) who Pakila hates for no reason. Warning more crappy old drawings

I think I’ll make Sineriina a mermaid Aquarian abduction survivor who somehow became really popular for it despite being in Zareen, hence the blue hair, and Maleena just a human who dyes her hair. Btw Sineriina has a twin sister named Akamia not shown here, I think she’s also a mermaid since she has blue hair too, but she’s less annoying so Pakila is more chill with her.

A family tree fix that needs to be done is between Creek something’s new Plumwillow (kittens I believe of Clovertail?). The two go on to have kittens and then a kit from each siblings litters gets together.

Um a few Skyclan cats I’ve found interesting are Fallowfern, canon deaf queen I love her, her daughter Tinycloud who I hc as deaf but also seems to be kinda interesting as a character, BELLALEAF oh and her mate Rabbitleap idk why but I see Rabbit as trans fem tho that doesn’t have to be done. Ebonyclaw I think is cool as one of the only female characters with the claw suffix and being rather fiesty, I hated her becoming a kittypet :(. It would be kinda interesting if gorge Skyclan doesn’t know about the “clerics can’t have kittens” rule and Echosong has a partner? Imagining her going to the lake and then being like gasped at by a ton of cats as she twines tail with her mate and having no clue why. The only other cat is Honeytail which is another case of a canon queen except she never ever had kittens of her own, she just raised other cats kittens and helped about tho she dies on the journey and is mourned heavily by the cats

Creekfeather is one of the Waspwing x Fallowfern kits, not Plumwillow's mate! I think I know what you're talking about though. Here, a zoom-in of the WaspxFallow problems;

Yellow is Waspwhisker x Fallowfern descendant. Blue is Rainspot x Petalnose descendant. Green is Clovertail descendant (A MASSIVE problem genetically that I will get to).

You were probably thinking of Dewspring and Nectarsong, who as you can see, are first cousins. THAT is going to be a fix-- and I don't really care to preserve Nettlesplash. I might eliminate Nettle.

There is also 0 need for there to be bonus chapters about them bonding with Dragonfly, or Darktail to nonsensically wander back to the Gorge when he's supposed to be running a cult at the Lake. I'd happily delete that whole bonus chapter, very few people even remember it.

Rhapsody on Seven Days Rhapsody

zenigata has canonically trained his ears to recognize the sound of the fiat starting up. fiat whisperer. fhsjadfask I love you pops (he's mostly here for comic relief in this one but by god he does it so well)

honestly the subtitle of this special could be 'polycule scheduling problems' (also incontrovertible proof that if it ever really came down to it fujiko would 100% get goemon in the divorce. fujigoe folks come get your good fucking food)

- a particularly upsetting jigen's evil exes situation in this one, but at least the dude is arguably kind of handsome and quite clever this time so I guess there's always that. somehow it's so sad to me that the thing he offers (and knows jigen won't turn down) is to 'fix their relationship'. uuuuugh you just know this guy would sometimes stroke his hair and smile at him while they were fucking and jigen's poor fucked up love starved brain looked at that very barest veneer of human care and decency, however feigned, and went and decided that meant he owes him.

in some ways this dude's much worse because he's not stupid or just plain nuts, tho. like jigen honey I know this is not your strongest suit at the best of times but self respect, buddy, don't let people push your buttons like this ;___;

- a lady plants an impassioned surprise kiss on jigen in a flashback near the beginning and HE DOESN'T EVEN TAKE HIS HANDS OUT OF HIS POCKETS AT ANY POINT OF IT fkjhdsjklasfsdaljkh iconic (he did clearly care about her but proooobably not in quite the same way as she did for him huh lol)

yes. indeed. this did happen. more than once, in fact. this whole special is SPECTACULARLY gay, which I know is a high bar indeed for a lupin installment. some of it is in the form of gay jokes but it didn't feel like particularly malicious ones as these things go this time around, if you see what I mean. also fuck you I'm not taking it as jokes it's just nice to have on-screen confirmation that lupin is into goemon's tits as much as fujiko's (great content for most pairings in this tbh)

- this is of course an incredibly silly stupid story, as all lupin iii stories are, and don't let the fact that I found it very entertaining fool you into thinking otherwise, but it feels like there's something real and quite sweet in the running theme around heaven and hell in this one, especially when lupin and jigen have that reconciliation conversation where, I don't know... all the dread and deadness is taken out of it by that sense of looking at someone like 'I know I'm going to hell in the end, but that's okay because I'm going there with you and as long as it's the two of us we could make even that a fucking party'. like yeah, I think that's what it's all about when you get right down to it, that kind of partnership.

(also jigen's stone cold "you can't" in response to riat trying one last ditch guilt trip *chef kiss*. again -- this idea of both heaven and hell as lonely places vs. what lupin and jigen talk about ever so indirectly in that scene after the fire, tho. thoughts. emotions.)

- goemon and taking down a helicopter name a more iconic duo (possibly 'zenigata and crashing them' gets close)

how am I supposed to not be ready to lay down my life for him at a moment's notice. what do you want from me. am I fashioned from cold unfeeling steel? is my heart a lump of ice? am I to remain unmoved by him using a high squeaky voice to make the puppet go 'hai!'????

- this one has some GREAT lupin characterization for me. it's the perfect blend of silliness and competence (and occasional straight up ruthlessness). the god of failing upwards and having fun the whole face-planting way

- still thinking about how, when lupin shoots jigen's hat off in their standoff, it's treated as more of a disarming than if he'd actually, y'know, disarmed him. that part is also the only time you see jigen's eyes in this entire special, I'm pretty sure, which is really emphasized by all the close ups during the scenes where he's realizing just how fucked up his employers are and you don't get access to his eyes at all. sort of like a mix of emotional vulnerability + helping him see clearly again going on here, especially since it's heavily hinted riat brings out old bad habits in him (namely numbness, near-fatal levels of unassertiveness and a light sprinkle of suicidality, what a cocktail).

WHAT A FUCKING POWER MOVE!! Lupin really went 'I stole your diamond, I stole your hostage, most importantly I stole your man and unlike you I'm gonna treat him right... and I did it all without wearing any pants (they're in custody. zenigata's got them)'

the way riat keeps talking about lupin in relation to jigen is so funny tho he is one step away from pulling out the 'don't worry I'll get you back to the ol' ball and chain in one piece by the weekend buddy' card

- I'm still cracking up about the fact that lupin made jigen come with him to the store where he was planning to buy ice (as in frozen water) and nothing else, apparently just because he wanted the company, and all he seems to have needed to do was go 'hey jigen c'mon I need you for something let's go' with no further explanation lmao. you needy lil shit lupin <3 (adorable to just have them have a cute domestic conversation as they walk through a comically bad neighbourhood haha, lupin's infodumping about an extremely niche yet intense current interest of his while jigen both follows along and offhandedly averts a robbery, and the situation has the definite vibe that this type of conversation happens regularly between them)

- warning that there is some very questionable stuff around an underage female character in this one and while I think they don't quite cross the line into completely heinous territory with it, it did make me a bit uncomfortable in places so, y'know, mind how you go etc.

If you could make only ONE fairy tail ship of yours canon with the magic of your brain which ship would it be? Please ramble. 💚

Laxus/Freed no question about it. It's not even a contest.

Would I like the Levy/Lily/Gajeel polycule to be real? Yes, yes of course I would, but Gajeel/Levy is canon and that's enough for me.

Honestly out of all my Fairy Tail ships (which you can see a full list of Here on my Ship Blog) Laxus/Freed is the closest to canon, and the only one I'd think "Big Win" if it did go canon.

I've never cared much about a ship I like going canon anyway. It doesn't effect much other than the amount of people talking about it.

Honestly what I'd rather do is uncanon some ships.

Number 1 being Erza/Jellal. I have such a thing against Jellal and I apologize he deserved his redemption I'm glad he didn't just like. Die or vanish into obscurity but like! I hate the idea of him and Erza being a canon couple with children some day!! Hate it!! It puts a bad taste in my mouth. I hate being negative tho so I'm not gonna ramble about it too much...

You know what else I want to uncanon?? The ship that floats the whole damn story; Zeref/Mavis

I hate it I hate it I hate it so much I hate how fanon treats it all cute and shit when it's probably the canon most Dead Dove do Not Eat kind of content canon has given us. I don't hate it because it's Dead Dove, that's actually what's holding it together for me, what I hate about it is how integral to the plot it is, how True Love it's treated, how sweet and tragic and twisted by fate it's treated.

It's not! Any of those!! It's a 400 year old man falling in love with a 13 year old girl and yes she's 20 Years Old when he actually realizes what he feels is love but she's still!! Physically!!! Thirteen!!! That's the Point Of The Curse!!! And then!!!!! He impregnates her!!!! AFTER HE THINKS SHE DIES!!!! HELL-FUCKIN-O????

I LOVE Zeref, and I really like Mavis too, I love The Curse Of Contradiction inflicting them both, I love the twisted "love" Zeref feels for Mavis, I love his desperation to find something to love to cling to project on to to save him to fix him to make him feel human again, I love Mavis' bleeding heart, I love Mavis' desire to save Zeref to fix Zeref to make him whole because she's so ful lof love for the world around her and she can see he's suffering and need someone anyone to help him

I think they're story is wonderfully dark. I think Zeref's obsession with her is something I'd very normally adore reading about, but the way it's treated in canon and fanon as a wholesome romance lovers torn apart by fate Romeo and Juilet Bella and Edward bullshit really ruins the whole thing.

Zeref/Mavis is really fucked up and I think we should treat it as such. Not in a boo hate the artist hate the shippers way but in a fun acknowledgment of Dead Dove content way.

wheel of time s1e8: the eye of the world

Well, that was extremely interesting. l knew they would need to be changing a lot in order to fix several problems with the climax of EoTW, but they made several radical changes that I found... fascinating. Not all changes that I would have made, but I see the logic. My heart is broken in places, but I see the logic.

book spoilers below for future books past EotW (only for the first few, tho, really)

There were always a couple of issues with the ending of EoTW:

1. it’s confusing

2. Rand does the same climax, like, two more times in the next two books.

This feels like it solved both of those problems -- it was very clear what happened and it also avoid some of the ‘repeat’ vibe -- Rand doesn’t do a big splash of power and accidentally announce himself as the Dragon here (And I’m leaning towards only the Stone of Tear being the big reveal to the world because it’s just redundant to do the same thing three times; I think the Horn will be visibly important in the Battle of Falme but Rand’s part will either be elsewhere or masked again).

It also parceled out some of the stuff that was all Rand’s in the book to the other characters, so that they can get moments of awesome, too, which I personally approve of. Rand is SO incredibly overpowered at the end of the first book and it’s also felt like an artifact of RJ not knowing how many books he was going to end up writing. I didn’t have any issue with those bits at all. Give the others something to do! I liked seeing Nynaeve and Egwene defend the Gap and (except for losing Loial...) I was interested in Perrin’s subplot with Fain and the Horn as well.

They do appear to have killed off some subplots...? Maybe. I thought the borderlanders were announced as S2 reoccurring characters, though, so I will see what happens there. And is Loial really dead? Maybe he’s just hurt? That’s a big loss, emotionally, for me. I love Loial.

...I really do love Loial. I’m gonna be big sad if he’s really dead. He’s not. technically. important to the story, necessarily. but he’s important to my heart.

They also appear to have stilled Moiraine which is... interestingly, I actually had commented about the leaks mentioning that it would make a lot more sense, plotwise, for Moiraine to stay stilled as opposed to being healed afterwards, so I was on the same wavelength as Rafe there. I actually approve of this change. I think it’s really interesting and changes the story in ways that are intriguing but not necessarily plot-breaking.

And Rand is off on his own, which leaves him room for various important plotlines and new characters for him to meet in S2.

Oh! Oh! That first scene, with the Old Tongue? That was amazing. AND THEN ISHAMAEL KEPT CALLING RAND LEWS, WHICH WAS MY EVERYTHING. Like, how I can be sad that some of Rand’s OP moments were tamped down when we got so much amaaaazing character exploration with him? I absolutely knew that he would reject the vision because it wasn’t what Egwene would want, but then he did and I was, like fist-pumping. He is a perfect perfect Rand and I really want Rafe to give me my polycule so I can watch him interacting with them all lots and lots. That’s what I want most out of life: Forsaken calling him “Lews Therin” and lots of polycule interactions.

(also... Mat got namechecked in Rand’s dream of a perfect world? so. thanks for continuing to fuel that new obsession, show, lol)

We got SO MUCH LORE in Rand’s section. I will be eating it for weeks.

And the Seanchan are already terrifying. There’s that, too.

Overall... I liked it a lot. Some choices that I would not have made personally, but I think I understand the changes.

OKAY so last night i said something in tags about “ask me about my thoughts on atla post-canon polyamory” 99% because I had typed a bunch of shit in the tags and then accidentally CLOSED THE TAB thus losing said tags, so that was a bummer, BUT like 3 different people reached out wanting to hear about it so HERE GOES. (thanks to @taibhsearachd for rambling this out with me last night)

SO. this started bc we got somehow on the topic of how much we really disliked the whole Aang/Katara kiss at the end of the show.  Not because we’re against them kissing (Aang had to already have turned 13 by then, an innocent kiss is perfectly reasonable for a 13yo in my opinion), but because the placement of the kiss made it so... CENTRAL. We were talking about how we would’ve liked the kiss to have been earlier, preferably before the big finale, and then like... they still could’ve had a soft romantic moment on the balcony but it could’ve been like.  Hand holding or sitting together with Katara’s head on his shoulder.

And Birdie mentioned she’d always liked Zutara back in Ye Olde Tymes because the whole “Aang and Katara get together when they’re barely 13 and 15″ thing just seemed... really untenable if we’re going with endgame, AND it made a lot of sense to get Katara and Zuko together politically, especially since there’s nooooo princess up north anymore since she turned into the moon and all. But the resurgence of the fandom (thank you for once Netflix!) has opened our eyes to ZUKO AND SOKKA and that’s fuckin amazing but now we’re back to square one in re: Aang and Katara. But then I realized that we can fix all of this with a) allowing for healthy breakups of relationships that don’t work yet but might work when the people involved have grown/processed things, and b) extensive polyamory.

And so here’s my thought:

Aang and Katara break up for a while probably not long after the end of book 3.  They’re fucking kids, they’re traumatized kids no less, and they both have a lot of shit they need to deal with both personally and in the world that isn’t really conducive to “baby’s first serious relationship”.  They’re still friends, they view it as “well... let’s maybe try again in a few years if we’re both still interested”.  All their friends are aware of this and supportive and in the end it’s healthy for both of them bc their traumas and coping mechanisms didn’t always play nice with each other even BEFORE all the fallout from the finale and having to take on more responsibility in the world and such.

Zuko properly gets with Sokka and Suki during this time, though there’s no talk of like. Marriage or anything. Yes, Sokka’s politically got the same sort of appeal as Katara, but the thing about politically advantageous marriages at that level is there’s sort of the assumption that you’ll be, y’know, having heirs, so Sokka’s not really cut out for that and Suki flat out refused to be official Fire Lady or whatever.

So once Katara and Aang are older, like Aang’s 17 and Katara’s 19 and Zuko’s sitting over here at 21, and his advisors are all “ok but seriously Fire Lord Zuko, we really should look into at least a BETROTHAL of some sort” and he just sighs, and they’re bringing up all these Fire Nation ladies and he’s like “no it’s gotta be more diplomatic than that, she shouldn’t be Fire Nation” and so one of them’s like “well, uh, that water tribe lady you’re friends with, she’s set to be a pretty strong leader as she gets older, that would be a good way to do it.  Or that blind Earth Kingdom--” “NOT TOPH.” “ok but seriously, tho, think about it your majesty”

So Zuko’s torn because he really does like Katara, and she’d be an amazing Fire Lady in addition to being an amazing... whatever her title would be down in the Southern Water Tribe (I definitely picture her and Sokka basically being the leaders of the pan-tribal council - he handles military and adjacent stuff and she handles the rest).  But Katara’s with Aang again FINALLY not that they’ve made a big deal of it outside their friends.  BUT he knows that y’know... people can be with more than one person.  Hell, look at him and Sokka and Suki, right?

So he goes to talk to Aang like “I want to make sure I run this past you so she doesn’t have to try and do it, because I’m the one even bringing it up, and it’s obviously up to her, BUT here’s the sitch”.

And see, the thing about the Air Nomads is it really doesn’t make sense to me that they’d have the same kind of ideas about like.  Monogamy and parenthood and relationships as other nations, ‘cause like.... the kids are clearly raised communally.  Like, I vote ‘you probably know who your parents are but really all the adults are your parents, maybe you get an extra cake from them on your birthday but that’s about it’ for the most part. And y’know being with who you want to be with sort of thing. Sure you’ll have people you might be more committed to, but by and large the general consensus is “love who you love, whoever and however many people that is!”

So Zuko’s all prepared to angst for even ASKING if Aang would mind playing technical second fiddle in an heir-producing/marriage/inheritance/etc sense to HIM, ugh what if Aang hates him for even thinking it? and Aang’s just like “oh yeah that’s cool dude, if she’s down go for it! You wanna talk to her together? I don’t mind being there to reassure her it’s ok, and that you weren’t asking me permission to ask her so much as you were making sure it wouldn’t upset me if you did, and all that” and Zuko’s like “...what. I.  Ok sure?”

And Katara does like Zuko, she just y’know, also liked Aang and didn’t want to GIVE UP Aang, but Zuko’s like “it’ll be good for our people, and I’d never make you stay in the fire nation full time you have your own responsibilities and also you don’t have to stop being with Aang or even like hide it or anything, it’s not like people don’t know I’m with Sokka and stuff, it’s just, y’know, OFFICIAL HEIRS and stuff” and so she’s like “Oh!  Oh, yeah, that’s good, we can have a couple kids and stuff”

But ofc they end up a lot closer than “just a couple kids” but it’s sweet!  She has kids with Zuko and kids with Aang and really as long as one of them turns out a firebender (can the avatar have a kid of any bending type? NO ONE KNOWS but Zuko’s advisors are prepared to accept it at this point) so long as they end up with A VIABLE HEIR that Zuko will claim etc etc.

And of course Zuko and Sokka and Suki have a couple kids whose parentage is uncertain not that they really CARE, and Suki and Aang aren’t really into each other romantically but when they’re a bit older they discuss it and decide to have a kid just so they can have a shot at a potential airbender baby, because heck yeah rebuilding the airbenders, might as well get some extra genetics up in this ish.

And these kids are all largely raised together in this big pack of like 10 kids of varying ages who move between 2 or 3 different homes, and Zuko rules the Fire Nation and Sokka and Katara lead the southern water tribes, and Aang does his Avatar thing, and they all spend as much time together as possible with the kids and Suki and some of her girls from Kyoshi Island are the main people ALWAYS THERE for the kids.

And there’s at least one kind of each bender in the group (bc you can’t tell me it’s 100% you have to have a bending parent, considering neither Katara’s mother or father were benders, so one of Suki’s kids is DEFFO an earthbender) and they’re a chaotic bunch and sometimes the Gaang forgets which one of them provided the genetics for which kid but really it doesn’t matter bc they’re ALL the kids’s parents, and all the kids are ALL their kids, and it’s a big happy messy disaster of a polycule that the Fire Nation nobility and advisors despair over, but they can’t deny that it seems to be working out pretty well and that the Fire Lord is good at his job and pretty damn happy, so they don’t bitch too much about it.

...Also at some point Sokka and Toph discuss dating and end up sort of doing it for a while but then going back to being friends, but she does ABSOLUTELY get him to father one of her kids, which she then declares firmly she made out of a rock and bended to life, and most people are preeeeetty sure she’s full of shit but can’t fully discount the possibility and only the Gaang knows the truth.

so yeah that’s my avatar polyamory thoughts, it is not canon-compliant with legend of korra but who cares this is my imagination and headcanon and LoK doesn’t play into it at all. *nod*

OT27 Madness

I'm starting this post by saying I'm sorry I can't put a read more. Computer is broken and stuff so you'll have to deal with this. I'll see if I can steal my dad's laptop later to fix this.

Also, @fnafhs-aesthetics asked me to tag them so. Tagged.

Anyway, here's my dumb OT27 idea. And yes, you read that number right. Buckle up, this is going to be a wild ride.

The ones that start it all are the Animotronics.

At first Chica just tells everybody that she's dating all the boys, and all of the school is to afraid to anger her and her bfs so they just deal with it.

But after a while the rest of the students began to notice the guys are weirdly close to each other and get suspicious.

Eventually a rumor comes out that they're secretly gay and, to avoid drama, they just tell the truth: They are dating Chica, but they're also all dating each other.

(At this point everybody in the band knows about Fred btw, tho they don't fully understand exactly what he is. What I can assure you is that they don't mind having 2 bfs for the price of 1)

Now everybody in school is even more confused, but Fox threatens them so they just shut up.

The next ones to get together are the Toys.

When Joy and Freddy get together, both Meg and Bon get jealous.

(Bon: OK, Freddy, first you start dating Bonnie, and now you're dating Joy too?? Stop stealing all my crushes!)

(Alsooo, Joy knows about Fred too, even if she doesn't really understand what he is she loves him)

They don't say anything for a while bc they don't want to ruin their friendship with Joy, but eventually Bon tells Bonnie, who tells Freddy, who then tells Joy.

"You do know that my boyfriend is dating five other people, don't you? Like he of all people would have an issue with me having other partners!"

So now Joy has three bfs and a gf.

(Meg and Bon don't date each other, but they are the very best metamours)

((ALSO, Toddie joins them eventually. She isn't sure about dating Joy at first but ignoring her cuteness is way to hard for anyone))

Meanwhile, Deuz been watching all of this unfold from the sidelines and it's given him an idea.

Well, if those losers can date all of their band members, we can't he?

The rest of the Nightmares are kind of unsure about it, but they do decide to give it a try and end up enjoying it way too much.

Fox accuses Deuz of copying them and they have a childish fight. Fox of course wins bc he has more strength (And more bfs).

By this point, the twins are already pretty interested in what's happening and decide to see if they can help each other get inside that already slightly complicated polycule.

The only issue is that they're both awful as wingmans. But they still persevere.

Somehow Mai manages to get together with Freddy, and Puppet winds up dating Bon.

(Also, Puppet is a transguy. Not saying it for any reason really, just letting you know)

After a lot of insistence from his partners and friends, Bon finally gathers up enough courage to ask Bonnie out. And of course Bonnie agrees bc who wouldn't?

Since their polycule seems pretty open about including new people instead of just being the five (And a shadow ghost thingy) of them, Fox decides to see if he can include another person: Springtrap. Everybody is fine with them dating, since Spring's a nice guy and all. That is, until he comments about getting another bf.

"YOU WANT TO DATE DEUZ?! HE'S AWFUL" "We talked things out and he's really sorry about everyth-" "WHY WOULD YOU EVEN LIKE HIM?!"

But, at the end of the day, nobody can really force Springtrap to stay silent about his crush and forget about it. So eventually he gets together with Deuz.

Fox is not pleased about the fact that now they're metamours but he guesses he can always punch him in the face if he breaks his "bro's" heart.

(At this point Freddy already has made a diagram to keep track of everybody. Fred insists that it's unnecessary, even tho he also tends to get a little lost sometimes)

Now we go with Loon and Usagi. After a lot of pinning, they're finally together! Much celebration. But what does that have to do with the polycule?

Well, it seems that little Loon has caught the attention of the Nightmares.

He's afraid of them at first (Mostly bc Oxy's literally 1.97 m tall and Onnie has fucking shark teeth) so he tries to avoid them.

After a while he notices that they're actually flirting with him instead of threatening him and he's. Confused, to say the least.

It takes a long while for him to get comfortable with the idea of dating a bunch of guys that look like 20-something gang members but eventually Deuz wins his trust and he gives them a try.

Usagi isn't sure how the heck his tiny bf managed to get THREE intimidating guys to pay attention to him but now he looks pretty happy with them so she just lets him have fun.

The rest of the polycule welcome both of them with open arms, tho they're kind of surprised about how many they're now.

And just when they think that maybe they're too many already, Bon starts dating Felix, who is also dating Fede. Who, mind you, is also dating Abby. Who is also also dating Lily. And just with that we add four more people to the group .

Nobody in the polycule is sure of how it got that big but now the teachers are as lost as ever with them.

(Also, I didn't mention this before but Maggie is definitely seeing both Mai and Meg. She's cool, she deserves to date cute girls)

Despite everybody joking about how now they're huge and they shouldn't bring more people in, everybody is supportive of Freddy when he starts going out with Cami.

The thing? Cami is seeing Towntrap. And Towntrap is dating Eak.

(Is everybody in this goddamn school polyamourous? Yes, the answer is yes)

By this point they're all sure finding a place to spend Valentine's day is going to be pretty fricking difficult, but eh, they'll find a way.

Freddy's diagram proves to be a lot more useful now that they're literally 26 people together.

But wait! I promised a OT27, right? Where's the last person?

Well, the last one to join is Owynn.

One day when the polycule meets up he just appears, holding Eak's hand. They're both trying to look casual but it's obvious that they're internally dying.

The rest is kind of silently debating whether they should say something or not, considering all the caos that Owynn made in the past. But, after a small chat, they decided to give him a chance.

It's kind of awkward at first. And it's quite hard for Freddy and Towntrap to get fully comfortable with him.

As time passes, though, they notice that he's making an active effort to better himself. And, despite him not being a very romantic person, it's easy to notice he actually does care for Eak and he isn't using him or something like that. Which basically wins him a place in the polycule.

Now that the entire story is written, here's some ideas:

♡ Freddy's mom is the most supportive of them, even if she's kind of surprised by the fact that his little boy has three gfs and five bfs.

♡ Most group dates are done in parks bc finding a restaurant that would actually make a table for 27 people is kind of difficult.

♡ Only people that date Freddy know about Fred, so the rest of the polycule get confused when they heard them talk about him. Freddy eventually tells them who Fred is, tho he isn't happy about it.

♡ Finding a day where they're all free is hard af. Most of the time there are at least two or three people that are missing bc they had other things to do.

♡ Talks about marriage get really awkward really fast.

♡ Some of them want to marry which gets hard bc they can't marry more than one person and they don't want to show favoritism, so they mostly avoid the subject.

♡ TALKS ABOUT CHILDREN ON THE OTHER HAND. Not everybody in the polycule wants to be a mom/dad but they all agree that if any of them ever wants to have a kid they'll be fine with it and they'll offer support.

♡ You bet your ass at the very least the Animotronics love the idea of having a baby someday (Golden is the most excited bc of course he is).

♡ When two people seriously fight like half the polycule becomes a mess.

♡ Literally everybody's biggest fear regarding their relationship is two people have a nasty breakup and the situation snowballing to the point it ruins everybody else's relationships.

♡ But so far most conflicts could be resolved by talking things out.

♡ Speaking about communication, whenever one of them is dealing with jealousy they try to help by giving them tips to deal with it in healthy ways.

♡ At first everybody in the polycule is mostly "im just here for my partners the rest I don't care about" but the more time they spend together the more protective they start to become. You hurt one? Be prepared to deal with 26 pissed off teenagers.

♡ Basically now they're a tiny army.

♡ Everybody who's an outsider is probably completely lost and just kind of goes along with anything that happens. They used to pay close attention to who is dating who but now they're so many it's incredibly hard to remember that stuff.

♡ Sometime people who don't know about the polycule go to one of them and tell them "hey I think your partner is cheating" only to get a laugh in response.

♡ Explaining their relationship can get pretty difficult.

♡ "You see, I'm dating Chica, Fox, Bonnie, Joy, Golden and Cami. Chica, Fox, Bonnie and Golden all are also dating each other, but Fox also has another boyfriend called Springtrap and Bonnie is also seeing Bon. Joy is also dating Bon and she has two other girlfriends, and Cami... You're already lost aren't you?"

♡ Despite the difficulties that come with being polyamourous they're still very happy together and very in love.
