Elissa looked across the desk at her oldest daughter, who was partially hidden behind her computer screen. “This has to do with Lucas, doesn’t it?” She asked.

“Yes.” Ana replied, glancing back at her computer screen, watching more emails fly into her inbox. 

“You’ll have a father.” Elissa began. “Kris and Cece will have a grandfather and-”

Ana cut her off. “That title is for Douxie and I to discuss.”

Elissa frowned. “But-”

Ana shook her head. “ No. I have, however, spoken to Parliament, because I’m unsure as to how this would work.”

“ You’re not going to stop me?”

Ana shook her head. Her and her siblings weren’t thrilled with the decision, but knew it wasn’t theirs to make in the end. “I- no. It’s your decision and I respect that. Anyway, when you marry Lucas, you will lose the title of ‘Her Majesty.’”

Elissa blinked at her daughter in confusion. “You’re joking.”

Ana bit her lip. “I’m not. When you marry him, you’ll stop being Her Majesty, Elissa, the Queen Dowager. The Prime Minister and I, alongside other members of Parliament, agreed that you’ll be ‘Her Royal Highness, Princess Elissa Munch, the Queen Dowager.’”

“You can’t be serious.”

“I’m just telling you what Parliament told me.” 

Elissa’s frown deepened. “Well, go back and tell Parliament that they’re wrong and don’t know what they’re talking about. There’s no precedent for them to base it off of.” 

Ana almost touched her necklace before she realized that it wasn’t there as she said, “Crown Princess Louise.” 

Elissa rolled her eyes. “She was Crown Princess. I was the Queen. There’s a distinct difference between the two.” 

Ana nodded in agreement. “Yes, there is. But Parliament chose to follow the precedent established for Crown Princess Louise.” 

“Then make them change their minds.” 

Ana scoffed. “Have you tried to change Peter Gathen’s mind about anything?” 

“He’s your ex.”

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, and he was and is a piece of shit. There’s a reason he’s my ex.” 

Elissa glared at her. “Anastasia.”

Ana sighed and rolled her eyes again. “What? I’m almost 30 years old, married with two young children, I  think I’m allowed to curse. If you want to argue your case to them, you are more than welcome to, but I’ve done literally all I’m legally allowed to do in this case.”

My name is Brianna Carmel. I'm a 25-year-old musician (mainly a vocalist) and DIY show promoter from Sacramento, CA.

My main project is a sadcore indie pop band called @bloomingheads, consisting of myself and my dear friend Josiah. We have been active since late 2018, and released our debut EP in January 2021.

Our biggest achievement so far is probably opening for Crywank on their first US tour, at The Starlet Room in Sacramento.

My personal favorite show we've played that there is footage of, is the going away house show we played for our dear friend Autumn (Otto) Sky Hall, who moved to Pennsylvania near the end of last year. This is me gushing about how much I love them as a segue into the first song we ever wrote.

Our next show is on January 29th at Cafe Colonial, opening for King Strang, with our friend Ash Bricky as another local opener. You can buy presale tix here.

I also recently joined Josiah's main project, a chiptune folk punk band called Little Tiny Knife (formerly known as Wayne Jetski). There's technically three of us, but our bassist Jim is currently away doing Real Adult Things™️. He's a cool dude tho, we share a birthday.

I can't quite put into words how much finally joining this project means to me. Like, I have a fucking Wayne Jetski tattoo. Josiah's music is the reason we know each other, I've genuinely loved it for years and it's the reason I asked them to start Blooming Heads with me. I've never earned a spot in a band I love before. It's truly an indescribable feeling.

Here's a video of us playing with Jim during a Halloween show last year. This song is called "Long Division." Josiah was a target employee, Jim was bananarchy, and I was... A spooky doll girl...??? Idk okay I was just vibing with makeup

I'm also a solo artist when I'm not busy with anything else--I like to call myself a singer-songwriter with a folk punk soul. I've been writing on my own for fun since 2014 or so.

Here's a live session I did at Warm Robot Studios, inside The Library of Musiclandria, to promote my single that I released in September, "Skeletons."

My most recent release, "Building Blocks EP," was released on Bandcamp Friday in November. There's only proper live video of the first track, "Alone Again." (Shout-out to High House!!)

The EP is made up of three tracks, and can be found on spotify, bandcamp, and many other streaming services.

And, last but not least, yes, like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I am a DIY show promoter. If you've ever been to a show in the Sacramento-area with "916 Growth Gigs presents" on the flyer, that was me. My main venue connects include The Colonial Complex (Cafe Colonial/The Colony Sacramento), The Library of Musiclandria, Golden Bear (21+), and the occasional house show or acoustic show at a park. I am on a hiatus of sorts for the moment, but plan on dipping my toes back in soon.

If you're a fellow DIY musician, especially if you're touring thru Sacramento, let's be mutuals! Even if I can't book you, I love making new friends. 🥰

Do you guys know what spoon was based on to decide the birthdays of the characters? or was it just random?

Some have a reason behind them, some apparently don't.

Jennette and Athy's have to be almost 12 months apart from each other because that's a plot point needed for the timeline to make sense (Penelope dies/Jennette is born -> Claude meets Diana -> Diana dies/Athy is born. Pregnancies are usually 9 months long and Athy is around one year younger than Jennette, so Jennette had to have been born early in the year and Athy by the end of it). This is supported by the novel, because there it was stated that Athy's birthday was late in the year.

In this video, Spoon goes over her reasons for some of the character's birthdays. She said that Athy's might be on early summer, like June or July, and Jennette's around early autumn, like September. That was most likely from a "character point of view" (Athy having more summer vibes and Jennette more autumn vibes? I can see it), but I think Spoon then remembered that they needed to have a year-ish of age difference lmao, so she changed them to the canon ones (January 6th and December 3rd). In the end, both have winter birthdays (but Obelia barely has any cold weather, so does it really matter?)

Claude's stayed on February (though fun fact: his birthday was on the 29th at first. That would have made him have his birthday on leap years, and we would joke about Claude being 10 lmao. Spoon quickly changed it to February 28th).

Spoon also said in the video that Ijekiel's should be in spring (around March), Anastasius' in winter (on January), Roger on October (whoops, happy belated birthday, Roger), Felix in summer (on July), and Lily on August since her name is "lily", a summer flower.

And I'm convinced Spoon chose December 25th for Lucas' birthday because all special anime boys were born on christmas (oh, and Jesus too). He's also the only character who had the date 100% decided, with the others Spoon was like "Hmmm around this time of the year" and chose the exact days much later lmao, so it must have been on purpose.

First drawing (drawn June 26th 2019) - I can’t 100% remember exactly what happened, but it was something about how Reid- Ryan’s friend at the time- had to tell them that they couldn’t hang out anymore due to Reid being part of a biker club and needing to prioritize that instead. So Ryan ran off and was emo for a moment before... something happened. Like I said, can’t quite remember, but the two got to hang out again.

Second drawing (drawn July 13th 2019) - After the last drawing, Ryan and Reid became a couple! It was fake at first so they could hang out, but the two eventually fell in love. So I made this scene up- with the help of Sims 4 to replicate the office they had in the biker compound- and then these fucking streamers [affectionate] that plays these two characters recreated this scene in my drawing AT THE END OF THEIR STREAM. BRUH. I was a giggling mess to say the least :’> ... And then the (RP) war happened on the day after o(-(

Third drawing (drawn July 17th 2019) - Tldr; A war broke out between the bikers and a group that called themselves “Cop Killer Records”, and in the center of the war was sadly Ryan. Who ended up held up by the opposing group, got something carved into his chest, and was shot down. While he laid unconscious in his own blood, EMS on their way to his location, someone came up to him. A man by the name of Norman Bones, who sorta signified death. And if I remember correctly, before Norman left Ryan, he said “Not yet.” So uh, yeah. Intense shit.

Fourth drawing (drawn July 25th 2019) - I- along with others- needed some fluff after a week or so of angst from these people due to the war, so I ended up drawing this. Just Ryan and Reid, sitting in the former’s beach apartment, and watching a movie together. I also added a couple of lil’ easter eggs to those who watched these guys as well. One of them being the wedding invite to Mia (Ryan’s best friend) and Colombo’s wedding (which uh... never ended up happening orz). The other being the bloodied map at the right side of the drawing, which Ryan recieved from Reggie’s will (who was a biker who died during the war that just happened).

Fifth drawing (drawn August 29th 2019) - Honestly, just wanted to draw Ryan and Mia together, just chatting shit and doing makeup or whatever :’>

Sixth drawing (drawn December 10th 2019) - Another scene where I just wanted to draw some fluff. This I had to rebuild how the streamer playing Reid built his- and Ryan’s- home in Sims 4. It was a fun drawing to do~.

Seventh drawing (drawn January 23rd 2020) - Ah yes. The voldemort timeline as I named it. ‘Cause- at the time- I don’t think Ryan was a lot around ‘cause the streamer behind him had to play his cop character for a while, so Reid (and the streamer behind the character) was joking around about divorcing Ryan. ... Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, they got married during a bank heist where they played DnD. He didn’t divorce him tho’, and Ryan got to come around here and there again.

Eight drawing (drawn Febuary 25th 2020) - Another scene I made up ‘cause I went around in GTA 5 and took a bunch of screenshots of places I would want to try and draw at some point with either just Ryan or both of them. This screenshot is of their home, which is in Sandy Shores.

Ninth drawing (drawn March 27th 2020) - Yet another place I screenshotted, tho’ I think it was ‘cause they found this place in RP, but I can’t say for sure. Anyways, thought it would be cute to make the lil’ room you can go inside of the destroyed plane at the junkyard into a cozy hangout spot. That’s about it.

Tenth drawing (drawn May 24th 2020) - One of my favorite drawings while I’ve been in this fandom! <3 Again, Ryan couldn’t be played for a bit, so I drew him relaxing at his and Reid’s home. Also, there’s that snake again that I really love. (Which I think can be found in the Yellow Jack, and also, Gazz- another biker and Reid and Ryan’s adopted son- named the snake Sheila)

Eleventh drawing (drawn May 27th 2020) - Basically just Ryan and Reid cuddling in bed. That’s about it.

Twelth drawing (drawn May 30th 2020) - I guess I got tired of fluff at the time and just wanted to draw Ryan having some sad boi hours™. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Eleventh drawing (drawn July 17th 2020) - At this time, I got CSP! So, I got to test out it’s 3d features thingy that could help out immensely with the background, which it did and still does! I don’t quite remember if this was a real scene or just me wanting to draw the old ladies (Ryan, Paddy (the redheaded guy) and Lucy (the redheaded lady)) and JP (who’s another biker) just going grocery shopping. It was really fun to draw, tho’ a lil’ frustrating ‘cause of the setting o(-(

Twelth drawing (drawn September 27th 2020) - With Ryan having been in the racing scene a bunch, I just wanted to draw him being a tease while also holding a sandwich or something :’>

Last drawing (drawn September 29th 2020) - So, this scene didn’t happen either. But! There had been times where Ryan had threatened to stab people with a lockpick if they did some shit towards him, his lover, or his friends/family. Which is why I drew this :) (Also, the text is in reference to the fact that a lot of cop characters think that Ryan is 100% a pacifist due to how much he refuses to use a gun/carry a gun with him)

And that’s about that! The funny thing I did want to tell y’all about is how- a month or so back- I found out that Ryan and Reid has been divorced for a while now, but from the looks of it, are still friends? I think? It doesn’t say a lot on the wiki, but does state that Ryan is associated with the biker gang in some way still. Idk. What I do know was that it made me laugh so hard when I found that out :’]

Year 2 | Tri2 | Week3: Audio Project (Concepts & Storyboard)

Monday 29th January 2024

This week we started to plan out our storyboards and begin environment concepts. We we're told to think about perspectives, field of view, staging, rule of thirds, and atmosphere.

With this in mind, I had created my storyboard with a variety of angled shots and transitions between close ups and distant shots.

My story that I have chosen to go with is about two saber toothed cats fighting over some dead prey that one had killed prier. There is a old battered and scared saber toothed cat which shows he has had many victorious battles with prey and other sabers, and the challenger is a young juvenile saber who is looking for his own territory and something to eat. The old saber tries to intimidate the young saber with a loud roar but the young saber isn't phased by the older sabers intimidation. Then the two sabers run at each other to fight it out. The fight scene is fast and intense with lightening flashing in the back ground and cut scenes of the sabers biting and clawing each other till one ultimately kills the other. The victorious saber clutches the other dead saber in it's jaws and drops it to the ground as it roars and walks off screen, leaving the dead saber bleeding in the grass as the cloud part and the sun illuminates the silhouette of the dead saber as the camera zooms out slowly.

The second part of the lesson we began to think about our backgrounds and transitions. As my story is set in the Pleistocene Epoch period, I had to research what the environment looked like in that era. I created a mood board with concepts of what scientist thought the Pleistocene Epoch world looked like.

I also created a mood board on what I wanted my backgrounds to look like and the colours I wanted to use. I decided I wanted my backgrounds to look like they were made using water colours while sticking to a dull dusty brown and saturated look, then when the fight happens the colours turn to dark shades of grey and purples when lightening strikes. I took inspiration from the Disney Movie Bambi when Bambi is fighting against Ronno.

For this exercise I knew I wanted a background that started with a zoomed in shot that then panned across to a distant shot, So I began with a sketch.

💕Kasumi Birthday Mini-Story💕

Happy (Belated) Birthday Kasumi! 

Since Kasumi won second place in the 100恋+ election, Voltage wrote a mini story in celebration of his birthday! It was released on his birthday, January 29th, but I wasn't able to get it translated right away. It was a little rushed, so I'll be making small edits here and there as time goes on.

(They also released a birthday book, which I hope to also translate and post eventually, but there's a lot of text so it might be a while.)

It’s January 29th.

I’m standing in front of the counter at Maizu’s Chocolate Decorations deliberating over an important decision I’ve just been given.

(Well, I do definitely want to add a name after the 'Happy Birthday'…)

MC: …maybe 'Dark Emperor'?

Staff: What?

MC: Never mind, ignore that.

(Since this present is supposed to be personal, just 'Kasumi' would probably be better than putting 'Dr. Kasumi'.)

(Or maybe I should just go with a simple 'Toshiki'?)

(It might be a bit too forward of me to be using his first name…but it’s for his birthday…! Please forgive me!)

MC: Please write 'Toshiki'! Thank you!

I took the day off so that I could focus on the birthday preparations, so now all I have left to do is to wait for Kasumi to get home.

MC: Ha…

(Ah, my phone…)

I check my phone to see that I got a message from Kyogoku.

Kyogoku (via text): I’m going to celebrate Kasumi’s birthday with everyone at Pen, but I won’t be coming home

Kyogoku (via text): So, if you burn Kasumi's curry, I won’t forgive you.

MC (via text): You should still come home! And, I'll have you know, the curry was completed successfully and not burnt!

MC: Although, if it’s Dr. Kyogoku, he really might not come back home to Kasumi…

(I’ll just send a quick message to Kasumi.)

MC (via text): I’m in your room and the preparations for the celebration are complete!

MC (via text): But please have fun at Pen tonight!

As long as there’s no emergencies and his patients don't have any sudden changes in condition, he should be coming back. But all I can really do is hope.

MC: Ahh, the living room has such a good view of the sky. 

The Venus belt was about to fall in the eastern sky.

(He’s a busy person, so I don’t know if he'll be able to, but I hope they’ll wait for him as long as possible before disappearing into the sky again...)

The operations in cardiovascular surgery are pretty complicated, but it’s fun to learn about them.

MC: I hope one day I can produce results worthy of Kasumi's praise…

Kasumi: You seem to be enjoying yourself

MC: ?!

Suddenly hearing a voice, I quickly raise my head.

Kasumi: I’m home.

MC: A-aren’t you here early?

MC: I figured you wouldn’t be home from Pen until 10 at the earliest?

Kasumi: When you send me a message like that, it makes me want to come home early.

Kasumi: I just had a toast with everyone and then left

MC: B-but it's your birthday, you're the whole reason they’re celebrating…

Kasumi: And because I’m the person they’re celebrating, they’ll forgive me for today.

MC: I see...

MC: Haha, so, in other words, you wanted to eat the curry I made, right? 

Kasumi: Yep.

(“Yep.” he says!! ahhhhh, so precious!!)

MC: I’ll start laying it out right away!

Kasumi takes off his jacket and I, not wanting to keep him waiting, immediately head towards the kitchen.

Kasumi: Hm…well, the food certainly shows personality.

He laughs at the sizes of the ingredients.

(Yeah, I thought it looked like a mess.)

But even so, Kasumi eats the curry I made and makes it look tastier than usual. 

MC: Well, you see, I can cut but…I just don’t know how to cook.

Kasumi: You’re good at being adaptable and efficient at work, so you should be able to become good at cooking, yeah?

[note: the original line here is actually “仕事ができる人間は段取���を組むのが上手いから、料理上手にもなれる” which is a saying in Japanese flipped. It doesn’t sound as smooth in English, but I didn’t really want to spend forever trying to find an equivalent saying. I might come back and change it to something better in the future.]

MC: I see…Well I’ll try my best...

Kasumi: More importantly…

Kasumi has been stealing quick glances at the cake for a while now, but can’t seem to look directly at it.

MC: Hehe, I had them write “Toshiki” on the plate to show my gratitude

Kasumi: …

(Aww, I get to see him look bashful for his birthday…)

He would get angry if I seem to happy, so I try to act calm as I light the candles.

MC: Oh, I also had wanted to sing you happy birthday here 

MC: but Takado and Kyogoku were very adamant about stopping me. Sorry.

Kasumi: Your humming always has had a certain taste to it

MC: ...taste…?

Kasumi: So, does that mean I'll be blowing out the candles without you singing, then?

MC: No!

MC: Well, actually, it didn’t think I’d get a chance to sing, so…I wrote you a letter instead.

 Kasumi: …

Even in the dark I can see the surprise on his face.

MC: Ahem…Dear Kasumi, happy birthday.

MC: It makes me extremely happy that I can spend this precious day with you.

MC: I know that no matter how harsh you may be towards me sometimes, there’s always a lot of love and care behind it.

MC: Thank you always.

MC: …thank you for being born.

Kasumi: …

MC: …Kasumi?

Kasumi: I’m not crying

(In other words, he’s crying.)

He quickly blows out the candles so I can’t see what expression he’s making.

Kasumi: …you’re not allowed to turn the lights back on in this room right now.

MC: Not a problem. Instead, can I just call you by your first name?

Kasumi: No.

MC: Toshiki.

Kasumi: …

I hear him sigh deeply next to me.

I put the letter back in the envelope into the gift that I prepared.

I suddenly feel his arms around my shoulders and the next moment I’m pressed up against his chest.

MC: …you don’t have to worry,  I can’t see your face because it’s dark, right?

Kasumi: Saying that isn’t going to get you out of this.

MC: wha…?

Kasumi: …I’m happy.

MC: I’m also happy.

MC: Mitsuharu and the others came today. Did you get to see them?

Kasumi: Ah…

He surely must’ve received a lot of congratulations today. That makes me happy.

Kasumi’s attention is solely locked onto me and he moves me so that I'm sitting in between his knees.

When he goes to hug me again, his hand suddenly touches something.

Kasumi: Hm?

MC: Oh, that…it’s your present.

Kasumi: …

I’ve been knitting in between working on my suture exercises to make gloves for today.

Kasumi takes the gloves out of the bag in the dark and immediately tries them on.

MC: It's fine if make the room a little brighter now so you can see your gift, right?

Kasumi: …still not allowed.

MC: It’s nice to see that you can be a little awkward sometimes, too…

Kasumi: …

The gloves are soft against my cheeks as he gently presses his lips to mine.

I felt a little bad that the celebration was so small, but the intensity of his kiss shows me that I was worrying over nothing.

MC: Hehe, Toshiki...

Kasumi: Remember, if you try to turn on the light right now, you better be prepared for me to take revenge.

MC: Let’s just spend your birthday peacefully, shall we?

Kasumi: As long as you’re here, that’s fine with me.

I feel his soft voice tickling my ear suddenly and stiffen up at first, but then can’t help but break out into a grin.

I throw my arms around him in a tight hug, wanting to stay how we are for just a little bit longer.

@irathefallen has stated he is Irish, and this is just what his family talk like. @pooronyx stated they were going to go more in-depth in future TikToks, so I took a gander over. There was a video before that, showing that the reason that @irathefallen messaged them was because "Oh you're cute" {Quoted from instagram dms.}

@pooronyx says that they were freshly 17, however, @irathefallen stated in a video that they didn't have their age in her bio. ALAS! @pooronyx wrote in their TikTok they had their age in her bio. I have found no "beyond the doubt" for me to decide. It seems that some of the alleged victims may have deleted some photos and comments if there is a case going on. I looked at most of the hashtag luciferscancelled videos. I couldn't find anything other then one that has shown evidence. I would like to look at all evidence if anyone is willing to show me. Perdurable a video with the messages, so no one can say they are faked. 

I would gladly update anything.

Professional Practise - Freelance Work Experience

I was asked by my boyfriend’s mum to photograph some socks for a project she was working on. It was a bit last minutes so all I had with me was my camera. I shot the product using what I had at the time which was natural light. It taught me how to make the best of what I had. I waited until daylight light arrived and shot everything close to a window, sometime using a white curtain to diffuse the light. The shooting part all together took me an hour and a half which is probably quite long but I just wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. There were two pairs of socks plus a setting including someone’s feet in the frame. I photographed those socks from each possible side. I probably spent too much time shooting but I first tested the light and from where I wanted to take my shots to create something consistent. Also I knew I wouldn’t be able to reshoot if I didn’t have what I needed as I was in the Netherlands and would be able to take the products back with me to England.

I was asked to produced those photographs quite quickly as it was something they wanted to sell for Valentines’s day. I don’t have the email asking me from the images as my boyfriend asked me if I could do it on the phone and it’s only when I went to pick up the socks that I talked with his mum to be able to get a sense of what she wanted. She showed me an example online and asked me to do something similar. It’s only later on when I send her my work that I have screenshot of each emails we exchange.

Once I sent her the images, she used them in an online article about it and also on the website they were selling them on. One of the photo was also used in an article from a newspaper called “Netheralndsdagblad”.

It took me quite a long time to process the images. I wasn’t really confident about it as I am far from a master at photoshop and even I had already done similar things in the past, I wasn’t quite sure which technic to use to do it. I tried different one, asking Denise on how she would do it. I once I found the right way to do it it went quite quickly and was able to finish them. I shot everything on Tuesday the 28th of January, processed the files on the 29th and 30th and sent them on the 30th in the evening.

I will had all the emails in my submission folder.

The Instant Chill Zone Q & A Livestream January 29th 2018th

From talking about buying horse dildos to sleep paralysis this stream definitely went places. xD These are just a few screenshots I took during this stream. I really liked it though it’s nice to just chill out with Seán. :) I don’t usually take a lot of screenshots during streams because it’s much harder to get a good shot while you’re watching. But screenshoting aside though! Seán talked about in this stream about how he has a hard time falling asleep and some of the “quirks” as he put it that he has and does. Coming from someone who has Asperger’s Syndrome and Generalized Anxiety Disorder it sounds to me like he’s dealing with sensory issues. I have weird sensory issues as well it’s one of the biggest traits of Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Asperger’s Syndrome and they’re very similar to what he was talking about. Hearing him talk about that actually made me feel a lot less self conscious about my weird issues with certain textures and loud noises. xD By the way I’m not saying that Seán has Asperger’s or anything like that, I’m not just gonna make assumptions about how his brain works when I don’t know him. But I do think that he needs to take the time to get a mental evaluation done from a doctor or psychiatrist so he can know almost exactly what’s going on with his brain. It’s better to know what exactly you have instead of constantly wondering why you have all these issues. From my own personal experiences you learn more about yourself and who you are when you learn more about how your brain works. But that’s just my opinion though at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if Seán has ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder or anything like that. He’s still the wonderful silly potato that we all know and love no matter how his brain works. I’m just saying all of this because I think that it would help him get to know and understand himself better. :)

today i was thinking about how even in the midst of really terrible shit, there's still some really amazing things that can and do happen.

i hate my job with a passion that literally no one around me can understand. back before the pandemic, teaching in the charter system that i work at gave me constant nightmares and panic attacks. i think i have mild PTSD, actually. seriously. after everything went remote, i found some degree of relief. my nightmares happen less frequently, i tend to have less panic attacks, working from home allows me more physical comfort (no one is forcing me to stand on my feet for 10 hours straight), and it's relatively easier to tweet on the job, lol. however, it's still a big point of misery for me. i feel disrespected by my superiors (i literally got cursed out the other week for a logistical mistake that wasn't even my own), my boss-boss hates me, someone leaked screenshots of an instagram post i made last summer about the state of the education system and the charter network i work for took it as some kind of personal attack and i had to answer for it (weird), and i am one of the most underpaid people in my teaching cohort. they explain this away by saying i don't "meet certain data points," and i dont do this and i neglect to do that but i do just as much work if not more than my coworkers... so. anyway, i just want to get out. i hate it. very badly. my job is one of the main causes of my depressive episodes. i'm only still there because i have rent to pay and i also don't want to leave my kids in the middle of the school year... i absolutely would if i got a new job but it would cause me a bit of agony...

anyway, even in the midst of all that negativity and depression and terribleness... i am strangely glad that i ended up there. today, after one of my most taxing classes (it's not exactly a difficult group of students to teach... i just teach them after two other back-to-back classes and by that point i'm drained and absolutely numb in the brain), two of my coworkers jumped on my zoom link to tell me about a mini scandal they happened upon yesterday.

one of my kids' parents is using her daughter's school-issued laptop to sext with some obviously-catfish internet guy behind her husband's back! they discovered this while using our school's device-monitoring program to make sure the kids weren't cheating during a practice exam. the story and screenshots and talk of next-steps were certainly all hilarious and fun and a nice reprieve from a long, tireless day of remote teaching/chasing after kids/grading terrible fucking papers/getting blamed for everything negative under the sun, but the thing i'm most grateful and feeling blessed for is... community. just sitting on a locked zoom call with two other young women talking trash, shooting the shit, gabbing, sharing scandalous information, dramatically reading corny sexts between two older people was absolutely rejuvenating. it felt like being in middle school or high school again. sitting at a table with your friends after a long morning of classes and just talking shit and hanging out and making sure that everyone was good and could make it through another afternoon of the same old tired, boring, draining, depressing shit. it felt good. and i felt grateful. i no doubt would've slipped into self-pity mode which includes scrolling twitter even though no one has anything good to say, snacking on an unholy amount of girlscout cookies, and napping for the last ten minutes of my break before going into another excruciatingly long period of teaching european history (yuck!).

the thing i hate most about the pandemic is that i am missing out on community. i miss going to bars and clubs and parties by myself and plunging into a room full of people who are also open to meeting someone new, getting into something exciting, running away from home. my favorite part of last school year was getting off of work and heading to dinner with a date, or a friend's house for drinks, or to a book signing or art and culture event. just running around nyc for as long as i could, having as much fun as i could, with as many people as i could before the clock struck 12 and i would have to get up in the morning and play the role of boring, underpaid single female middle school teacher again. now, it feels like i can never escape that role. it feels like my entire life is about being a teacher and being abused and underpaid and stupid and lame and underappreciated. i miss my communities and the identities i found within them.

that's why i was so grateful to my coworkers. for a period of 30 - 35 mins or so, i wasn't just a teacher. i was a friend, a gossip, an asshole, a bitch, a silly girl, a person. a whole person. and i hardly ever feel like a whole person anymore. the four walls of my room don't seem big enough to fit a whole person. just a teacher. just a student. just a failure. just a fuck-up.

i love love. i know they're just my coworkers but i'd be lying if i said i didn't love them. i was also thinking, today, about how people are only in our lives for seasons. and sometimes we know this. like, for example, i know that if i got a job at a new place right this moment (fingers crossed, from this blog to God's ears!!!) that i would leave and probably never hear or speak to any of my coworkers again. and i was thinking how i was ok with this. it wouldn't diminish my love for them in any way or make me feel like i need to find some way to keep them around forever... it just is what it is. i can love them and still know that we aren't meant to be together for too long. we got each other through this hellhole of a job without killing ourselves and that's enough for a lifetime, to be honest.

i was supposed to write all these thoughts way earlier but He messaged me on instagram. He replied to a post of mine talking about WandaVision and apologizing for not texting back last saturday... since this is my blog and im basically anonymous, i'm not ashamed to say that seeing his name pop up on my phone is enough to send me over the moon... especially when it's unexpected and unprompted... he's such a bozo though and i basically let him know... i am a big believer in honesty and eagerness but sometimes a little cool is needed. i brushed off his apology and let him know he was sorry as fuck all the time and then congratulated him on being the kind of person who gets to say "i was just overwhelmed because the judge fucked us over and now i'm working until midnight for the next week." that's probably weird but what can be better than having a job that you like, doing something that you love and that is DEFINITELY helping your career... that's more than what some people have... (i am some people, unfortunately, but i'm looking at getting out of being such a fucking loser)

umm.. it's 1AM now and i have another long, tireless day of being a fucking superhuman aka teacher tomorrow so i'm going to go to bed but i feel like i didn't blog right because i didn't have a clear beginning, middle, end and proper sign off and i know i'm being silly and blogs don't always have to be like that but that's how i feel... but i have to go so that's how it's gonna have to be. i just wanted to write my thoughts down and update my blog because i'm trying to keep my promises to myself in 2021. if i don't keep promises to myself... how will i get anything done?

also He just messaged me back again :) and i have to stare at the message for AT LEAST 30 mins before i can settle into sleep mode.

Blast near Israeli Embassy: Probe agencies yet to identify any suspect, say sources

NEW DELHI: Investigating agencies were yet to identify any suspect in the minor blast near the Israeli Embassy, a source said on Sunday, but stressed that all angles were beng covered in the probe. The Delhi Police Sunday covered the blast site near the Israeli Embassy here with a white-coloured tent to prevent the spot from being tampered with as the adjacent road opened for traffic. The APJ Abdul Kalam Road, which was closed for nearly two days after the IED blast on Friday, has been opened for general traffic now. Police also faced some challenges in collecting video footage as most CCTV cameras in the area were not functional at the time of incident, sources said. They said the material used in the bomb will be known after the report of the forensic science laboratory. An envelope addressed to the Israeli Embassy and containing a note was found at the site of the blast, sources had said. A case has been registered and the Delhi Police’s Special Cell is investigating the matter. The letter written in English mentioned the names of Gen Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force who was killed in a US air strike in January 2020, and Iran’s top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizad, who played a crucial role in the country’s nuclear programme and was assassinated near Tehran in November the same year, they said. According to sources, police have questioned some persons including a few Iranian nationals and a cab driver who dropped two persons near the blast site just before the explosion. The details of foreigners who came to Delhi recently are being examined. Teams from the National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) of the NSG and Delhi Police’s Special Cell visited the spot for post-blast analysis on Saturday. A senior officer said NBDC’s findings will be shared with the police team investigating the case. Investigating agencies are checking Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) of the area to check whether the suspected persons used internet to communicate instead of regular cellular call. They are also checking CCTV footage of the nearby hotels. The dump data of mobile calls, which were active hours before and after the blast, are also being examined. The agencies are collecting data from the cab services of the persons who were dropped in the nearby area of the spot just before the incident happened. Initial investigations revealed that the IED was planted in a flower pot on the median near Jindal House on A P J Abdul Kalam road outside the Israeli embassy. A burnt scarf has been recovered from the spot, which has sent for forensic examination, official sources said, adding that a screenshot of Telegram application is circulating where the Jaish-Ul-Hind is allegedly taking the responsibility of the attack, however, its authenticity could not be confirmed. The minor blast took place on Friday evening in a high-security zone of the national capital. No one was injured. The blast took place when President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were present a few kilometres away at the Beating Retreat ceremony at the culmination of the Republic Day celebrations. The explosion took place on a day when India and Israel marked the completion of the 29th anniversary of establishment of their diplomatic relations.

Now this is the final date, and everything is mostly set up for that! I’m doing some more research for the rewards but already did all the assets I needed done for that! It was a long run, full of difficulties, but I’m nearly there and I’m extremely excited to share this with you all! Thank you for being with me(!!!!)

The full development of Virgo Vs The Zodiac started in january, but before that, I guess around end of december? I had posted this on a rpg maker thread on 4chan, just something I called at that time “Waifus and Astrology”:

This was the very first Virgo. She already had her ponytail, but I was trying a greek approach that didn’t work out very well. At the time I was still trying to figure out Anime Art and was wondering what the hell people did to make things to look good and consistent, I wondered a lot on if it was just magick or if I would be able to, someday, make something tolerable to my eyes.

This here is the very first... Dungeon? At the time I was still fixed on the idea of making VvtZ to be a randomly generated thingie. You would be able to go to any realm at any given time, making it impossible to really create a storyline of events. The realms would have dungeons, instead of being scary themselves, so it was a lot more ‘simple’ at the time. Of course, I couldn’t hold myself and made a bunch of political lore behind everything making it impossible to remain as random visits from the Zodiac Killer.

Virgo was also like this a long time ago. I can’t even. I was really proud at the time. What is even happening in her clothes. What, indeed. (the dialogues for the first sequence were basically the same, just a little better in the final version with the help of the proofreaders!)

The scenes were like this, and Virgo was... pink? At the time I didn’t had the exact colours for the Zodiac Qualities System yet, so she was just fixed because I like pink. This scene took an absurd amount of time to be finished so I decided to change it to pixelart to do it faster! 

Also that one time I was struggling with the interface. It took me two days straight working to figure this thing out. I don’t even know how I came out alive from that battle.

And here we are now! This game still has a lot of room to improve in terms of consistency, but I am happy with all I’ve learned over time! I learned tons with the release of the demo, basically on how to deal with criticism and to move forward and even deep life lessons. I am extremely grateful that I could be able to step out of the tough times I went through to begin the development of something I would enjoy so much like this and I’m extremely grateful for all of your support until now!

Navigating the Stormy Weather of Google SERPs

Summary: I don’t think anybody in the SEO world is ready to claim they know what’s going on with Google and its SERPs, but we’re confident in saying the more closely we pay attention these things, the quicker and more prepared we’ll all be to act quickly and gain any available advantage.

While it might seem like a lifetime ago, back in January I wrote about Google’s move to de-clutter the first page of search results. And just 8 weeks later, we’ve seen Google make even more substantial updates that SEO pros should be watching intently.

To quickly recap, the clean-up we discussed two months ago aimed to streamline a searcher’s online experience by deduplicating search results. URLs in position zero with a featured snippet would no longer appear anywhere else on search engine results pages (SERPs) as they had previously. This update was great for users looking for a clean, organized experience; not-so-great for the marketers who’s URLs originally appeared twice on page one of the SERPs. 

Of course, Google’s updates are never ending: their algorithms will forever evolve alongside user behaviors. They tend to tweak their algorithm hundreds of times a year. Naturally, we keep a very close eye on the search landscape and – in keeping with the general turbulent tone of 2020 – it’s been kind of unstable. 

Let’s discuss what seems to have been a broad core search algorithm update and the significant fluctuations that caught the eye of SEOs everywhere. The sooner your business understands the changes, the sooner you can adapt, optimize and benefit from it. 

The Choppy Waters of the Search Landscape

About two weeks after Google’s big featured snippet update, SEOs noticed a significant disturbance in the Forc—oh wait, wrong Galaxy. What SEOs in our Galaxy noticed was drastic changes in Google’s rankings over the course of a 48 hour period. While big updates like Panda and Penguin get a lot of press, Google revealed that they made 516 changes in 2010, and all evidence suggests that pace has continued. What we notice is barely the tip of the iceberg. MozCast was designed to help you keep track of the day-to-day changes in the Google algorithm. An average day in the SERPs is about 70°F.”

In the screenshot, you can see that on February 7, the MozCast was 116°F. On February 8, the Mozcast was 115°F. Big algorithm changes means hot and stormy weather, and this is some of the hottest and stormiest weather we’ve seen in the search results in recent memory.

What does it mean? And what has Google said about the turbulent times on search engine pages to start the year? Credit to StanVentures for helping get all of us the answers to these questions, which they wrote about here.

Google’s answer coy, but we’re going to agree with Thekkethil here — it’s obvious something important is going on here.

Here’s a second screenshot of the MozCast, which I took on March 29th (it includes the previous 30 days).

The MozCast has remained at consistently turbulent temperatures throughout March, with most days clocking in well above that 70°F average. On March 18, the MozCast measured 103°F, and hit the century mark (100°F on the nose) a couple of days later on March 23.

I don’t think anybody in the SEO world is ready to claim they know what’s going on with Google and its SERPs, but we’re confident in saying the more closely we pay attention these things, the quicker and more prepared we’ll all be to act quickly and gain any available advantage.

What’s Happening With Position Zero?

So far we’ve established a couple of things: Google made sweeping changes to its featured snippet position and continued to make further significant tweaks to…we’re not exactly sure what.

Since we can only speculate on what else is causing such stormy waters on the SERP landscape, let’s talk about something we have at least a little data on: what’s been happening with “position zero” since all the featured snippet changes?

We’re going to reference two fantastic posts for this discussion: this one by Dr. Pete and this one by PJ Howland.Dr. Pete’s post is a great breakdown of the initial update, but we’re going to focus on the takeaways of Howland’s post, since it contains real data. Some of the key takeaway from that post were:

Longtime snippet winners are seeing CTR and traffic drops

When a double snippet is present, CTR on the first snippet tanks

There’s not a true number 1 spot

Evidence of CTR bumps below the fold

Clickability matters more than it ever has

The caveat here is there aren’t yet a lot of concrete, ironclad takeaways after just 30-60 days. What we do know is there is evidence to suggest some or all of these things might be true. If you hedge your bets and keep your ear to the ground, you may just be able to turn these story SERP conditions into a positive for your business.

As I’ve said a few times, the conditions in Google’s SERPs right now are rougher and more unpredictable than they’ve been in years. Which is not unlike the position we find ourselves in today – all around the globe. In both situations, there are two options: panic, and not handle things so well, resulting in a poor outcome for everybody. Or, take the situation as it comes, remain calm, and find a way to come out the other side stronger, smarter and more prepared to handle this type of scenario than ever before.

I’ll be quite honest. I’m terrible at being in communities.

This is a huge TLDR/personal post and seriously, you can ignore. That’s not some manipulation tactic. It’s here for people who want to know genuinely why I keep coming/going the last two years and where my inconsistency is coming from, as well as why I run headfirst into the community and then just disappear without warning.

Sims posts will follow. This is just something I felt I needed to talk about. In short: yes I’m fine. Yes I’m handling things well. No I don’t need crisis care. I’m actually doing well considering. Sims has always been my go-to comfort. I didn’t know about the community until I met @invadersim many moons ago on LiveJournal, and Tumblr was in it’s infancy. As well as the things mentioned under the cut, I also feel like I’ve withdrawn from social media a lot since I turned 30 (I’m 31 now). I just stopped needing to belong and sort of settled in where I was at. Like I said, Sims have been my comfort. Sometimes I sit on Facetime with another IRL friend who also Sims and we just chat like one would on Skype only with our games running and Facetime going on our iPads. It’s fun. She discovered my game is utter chaos incarnate while she micromanages everything. She likes hearing me talk about my builds. I like hearing about the random TV show characters in her game that she tosses in (like the shenanigans her Dean Winchester Sim gets up to). Sims, to me, is ‘home’. The place you return to on holidays when you’ve been away to school or the warm cup of tea waiting for you during a cold, snowy day. Sims is my home away from home - when other games have frustrated me, or when my mental health is doing poorly and I either cannot focus on anything or I’m too depressed or anxious to do much at all. Which, leads into the TLDR portion.

So my last time posting was August I believe. I had just installed TS4 for the first time and was leery. I’ll say this now: I fucking love TS4 and probably won’t go back to fix my TS3 game ever to play it. It became my new go-to comfort and I’m loving that I am still learning things about TS4 that I didn’t already know. With TS3, I knew so much about the game that it started to become boring. I was always adding mods and CC and then just doing the same old boring shit in my games.

Right now I don’t have “Cats and Dogs” but I have everything else, so it’s forcing me to play the rest of the game without the addition of pets. It’s nice. I also don’t use much CC and I have only one core mod in my game (I don’t even use MC right now). It’s just nice playing a completely vanilla game. I can think of a dozen things I want to recolor (and thanks to @blindingechoes teaching me now, I likely will sometime early 2018) but otherwise I’m enjoying things again: enjoying building. Enjoying the gameplay. Enjoying how smoothly things run. But that’s not really why I’m posting. I’ve had my inbox filled with worried messages and I want to address things for those who don’t have me on Facebook already.

Yes I’ve been dealing with a malignant narcissist and yes this person was once a close friend, and yes I knew they truly had diagnosed sociopath behaviors but I also knew them for so long that I had the totally naive thought of it could never be me. The thing with abuse is, the second you think that? It’s likely already too late. I should’ve seen things coming and I didn’t until it was too much at once and I decided to cut this person out (their version of the story is that they cut me out first which is not true, and I have ‘receipts’ to prove this).

This person did truly heinous things to me between the end of January 2017 until October 2017, when things finally stopped. I won’t get into major detail (though this post is marked so anyone browsing in safe mode won’t get to see it, I feel a lot of people following me are slightly younger and I don’t feel anyone really needs to know details) but some of the things done to me over nine months were: having my personal info (name, address, phone number, mother’s name - who is sick (she’s had many strokes and lives with me so I can take care of her) - as well as her personal number posted (ie, doxxing) online to a website which is notorious for some crimes in the past (members who met up and literally plotted to kill their families and succeeded). It’s home to a lot of skeevy, disgusting people and this person literally outed my personal information to thousands of people who are potentially dangerous.

From that moment on I spent three months having child pornography, gore porn/snuff, gory images of dead animals and the type of stuff you’d find on Rotten or Ogrish on my damn phone - being texted daily - by throwaway numbers. I reported this to my phone company and blocked all the numbers I could but it didn’t stop. I did everything I could but in the end I was the one who was losing their phone service as a result of “breaching telecommunications laws” and had to pay a fine of 400-something dollars (I forget the exact amount, I do have copies of the legal docs though), as well as paying to have my phone turned back on.

I acquired paperwork for a restraining order but couldn’t serve it until recently. I have been working with a defamation and libel lawyer pro bono to get this person to leave me alone. They’ve made threats to “skin my cat”, to “throw acid on me in the street” as well as to have one of their junkie friends who is HIV positive “throw their used needles at them like darts”. I have copies of the messages where these discussions and plans were made.

Cops most definitely were notified. It has been a huge drawn out process and they’re basically claiming they’re “mentally ill and won’t go to jail” even though they’ve been harassing and abusing me for nine months straight. There is so much more than what I posted above but needless to say, when this all became really freaking bad I just left the internet. I stopped posting on a lot of places and that was when I came back to the Simblr community then promptly left again.

Around this time I started prepping for Preptober which is the month of October where those of us who do Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) start prepping for November and our novel. On October 29th, right before the Kick Off party our Nanowrimo region holds, our ML (Municipal Liaison) -and close friend of mine- was found at his home unresponsive by another writer friend and after being taken to hospital by them, was found to have three brain tumors. The primary cancer ended up being in his kidneys (three more tumors) and the secondary cancer was the tumors in his brain. He went for surgery immediately and his current treatment is radiation as palliative care. I don’t think I need to explain more where this is going.

November was busy as I had to step up as ML and run a region of 200 writers where we had write-in’s (where you go to write with a group of Wrimos, or what we call Nanowrimo participants) leaving me running these groups 6 days a week (I took one day off) from 6-9pm and sometimes two in a day (9am-12pm, then 6pm-9pm). I have severe agoraphobia and social anxiety so you can imagine how difficult this was. While mentally and physically exhausting (it also screwed with my sleep schedule which is already a mess from a sleep disorder) it was one of the best November’s I had in awhile because I had always wanted to be ML but it was legit so fucking exhausting I had no time for anything else.

No gaming. No Sims. No social media. Nothing. Things have sort of evened out now but since it’s December I’m back to feeling irrevocably depressed (holidays always do that as I’m 1) poor, literally at the poverty line despite being on disability so I can’t afford anything for myself or others at Christmas and this also means no celebrations with dinner or decorations because all of my money is spoken for. As well I have no where to go/no family to be with.

Secondly, I’m finally catching up on the screwed up sleep schedule of November. As a result I’m sleeping 20 hours a day sometimes. I’m awake maybe 10-12 hours and back to sleep again. It’s terrible. I also had walking pneumonia all of November and I’m still sick from that. It’s a huge clusterfuck and things were just terrible. If it wasn’t for coping skills from CBT and DBT I seriously don’t know how I would’ve managed the last year.

ON THE PLUS THOUGH - even though this month is hell and I’ve no where to go, I’m playing the Sims again and plan to post screenshots and random things and re-engage with the community as much as possible. If you read it this far, you’re awesome and thank you.

In terms of uploads and such, I won’t have anything for awhile. I’m using a pirated copy of the game as I have no way to buy it online from Origin (I’ve no money to be spending on gifts and I don’t expect it as a gift or anything so it’s not likely something I’ll be owning legitimately for quite some time). The game version I have doesn’t get updated often and I don’t want to risk breaking my game and having to do a huge re-install just to add “Cats and Dogs” as well as game client updates so I can’t be sure anything I create or recolor will work with your guys’ games.

APEX Talks Revision - About the industry

On the 29th of January 2020, I listened to six public talkers at the Apex who had went on to do their artwork elsewhere. They all were educated at West Suffolk College, where they learned about Fine Art, Games Design and more.

While four of them didn’t spark much of my interest, two of them were particularly inspirational and got me motivated to work hard.

This was live-streamed on YouTube, so I was able to find screenshots of their work that isn’t available anywhere else online (or I couldn’t find it) since the video is public. If you want to watch the live-streams, it’s in two parts, as there was a lunch break in-between:

Katie Marshall

Katie Marshall, a former student at West Suffolk College, now works in the games industry. She took part in a Game Jam in 2016 (which is an event where groups get together to create a game within a time crunch (which can last a week, or even a few days)), which she won.

Her creation during this time was something called “AltCtrl”, which was a project to design a custom controller for games. Since she had experience in electronics, she was easily able to achieve her goal of completing it in such a short period of time.

Making a custom controller has been a thing in my mind to do, but I never really got around to doing it as I don’t have the materials needed for it. However, I have done so at college before with a Makey-Makey, which is what Katie used for her controller:

If you don’t know how it works, the Makey-Makey is like a computer keyboard, but you can connect clips to certain keys, and attach the other end of the clip to another object, like tin-foil or a banana. Ridiculous, isn’t it?

As soon as you come in contact with the object, a circuit goes through the object and triggers the Makey-Makey key, which sends a signal to the computer to press whatever key you assign! Using this, you can do ridiculous things, like make a cat take a picture of itself when it steps on something, or play a game using other objects that wouldn't normally work with devices.

Doing this inspires me to make my own controller one day, but as Katie said in the talk, it is very costly. But the end result is worth it.

Luke Adam Hawker

Luke Adam Hawker is an illustrator who doesn’t do digital drawing, but real-life drawing in real-time. What I mean by this is that when he draws, he is at the location he is drawing instead of looking at a picture, as apparently drawing a picture from the Internet causes you to mess up by losing focus.

He draws by perspective using only pencil... with no colour at all! As you can see in the picture, the perspective is very accurate to what people would see if they were at the same location, including shading and details of the object drawn.

I’m not a very good illustrator, so this blows my mind way out of proportion, as it would take me forever to draw something this accurate in 6 hours (which is true, Luke DID do this in 6 hours!).

Maybe I should draw something in a style other than pixel-art...

What I Have Learned

If there is anything I have learned from these talks, it’s to follow your dreams and do what you love and enjoy, instead of treating everything like a chore. It will be difficult and you will suffer at times, but that’s the price of having a job. Anything worth doing is never easy, and it may take a few years of continuous hard work just to get good at it without doing anything outstanding, with a few more years in hand to make something as good as an accurate drawing of Big Ben from the same perspective as your drawing location.
