Dorian -- "Yeah, it's, It's real colorful up here, too. I'd take it in and enjoy the display if things weren't so tense at the moment.. Tell Ashton I say hi."

Hi I’m back! I think we all know what I’m going to talk about; “s4 of TMA and OH MY GOD JARED HOPWORTH STATEMENT”

MAG 130: Meat

Lucia Wright has the same last name as James Wright who ran the institute from ‘73-‘96 until he passed. I don’t know if there’s any relation but just in case. There’s that pit. There’s a lot of pits that’s related to The Flesh (MAG 49, MAG 80, MAG 97, I think, and MAG 130) so. Yay. Also Tom Hann appearance once again (MAG 30, MAG 72). Love the mention of the Carlisle boy which I think is Tony Carlisle from MAG 18, the neighbor with all that meat. Gertrude also mentions Dekker which is probably Adelard Dekker who I still need to see more of to fully develop my opinion on him.

Also what’s with all the recent cobwebs??? There’s been so many mentions of them around the institute, is The Web planning something?

MAG 131: Flesh

fucking hell, Jon. I think this man just decides to do shit without running it by anyone. Also yay Melanie! I feel like really bad for her. Again, I can’t even blame her much for her reactions cause one, there was The Slaughter and two, surgery is like hella invasive even when it’s run by the person so waking up to someone performing an impromptu surgery on you would linger with me as well.

Helen is back. Bit scared of her but she sounds much better then Michael (then again, The Spiral lies like constantly). Now onto the main guy: Jared Hopworth.

Um. I had no idea what his voice was going to sound like. My expectation wasn’t high, just “unhinged” and my god did Jared Hopworth deliver. (Also heard he’s also Martins voice actor???? WHAT??) he didn’t give much new information but lemme tell you, hearing the squelching of meat and shifting of bones made me want to throw up so congratulations Jared! You’re are in the top 3 of TMA voices that make me feel intense horror!

MAG 132: Entombed

Jesus. Okay so. Daisy. Not much lore in this ep for me to connect to anything, just a lot of sad stuff like I was speechless. I can’t remember if I mentioned on here that I thought Daisy was related to The Hunt but I did suspect and I’m not surprised! Also, the shirt thing, that’s crazy oh my god, I thought it was interesting she asked about his shirt out of all things.

MAG 133: Dead Horse

The Everchase. Why does every entity have such a cool sounding ritual name??? Anyways, pretty interesting.

“The police brutality lawsuit” Im literally dying.

Also, Basira, man. I think she’s so interesting. I can’t put it into words but god she’s just such an interesting character to me. An ex-cop, one of the only ones who like logic’s her way out of The Unknowing, trying to keep everything together at the institute, I don’t know, I just like her a lot.

But god FORBID a character gets replaced OR SACRIFICES THEMSELF.

I need to see something from Martin, I’m worried about him. Maybe Peter Lukas. Actually, I kinda wanna see Nathaniel Lukas? Like he exists too, he has his own shit going on. I don’t wanna see Elias.

Okay I think that’s everything! I wish I could continue my notes, I low key miss sitting at my computer after listening to the eps and typing out every single detail, it was kinda calming.

First? Hmm breakfast date or going to an arcade. Mornings tell you a lot about a person, and competition also shows you who a person is.

27) What is something most people don't know about you?

I’m terrified of deep water, doesn’t matter what or where. I still think a shark is going to get me in a public pool.

28) What makes you feel the happiest?

Watching tv and feeling my dog at the foot of my bed.

29) What store do you shop at most often?

Walmart or Target.

30) How do you feel about oral? Giving and/or receiving?

At first, tbh I despised it. There was no way my mouth was going there. I just didn’t want to, I had a girl do it and she sucked lol. Also, it hurt and that probably played a factor in receiving. Now? I’ll give all day long, I don’t like to receive because I’m afraid it’ll be bad or it won’t be done right.

31) Do you believe in karma?

I do.

32) If you had an hour left to live, what would you do?

I’d make a 20 minute goodbye video, if you’re on it, you were important. The last 40 minutes, I’d want to be having sex. Hopefully I just disappear once my hour is up lol. Not just cease to exist in the middle. Awkward.

Neither. Had written letter. Flowers are stupid, they die. And candy? Did you eat mine first and that’s why you’re sorry?

We did here, and we thought we would share some photos from a special event that we did at Lowe Mill in Huntsville. We had a “hands - on concert.” We played a 45 minute set, and then we passed out about 35 bodhráns and taught the audience how to play a reel. They then joined us for a tune! Maureen R replied: "St. Patrick's Day is a family day, starting with donuts, then Mass at St. Colman, one of the oldest churches in Cleveland, that for decades had supported a largely Irish immigrant neighborhood. This Mass is the start of the day for the West Side Irish American Club. The dignitaries and club marching units from pipes and drums to tiny pom pom "Bridgies" march into the church with all the regalia of the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. Parts of Mass are read in Irish Gaelic, and familiar Irish songs and readings are shared. The lighting in the church is changed to green uplights and the hall is filled wall to wall with families in Irish sweaters and Irish pride.

After Mass and the marching units parade out of the church, everyone heads to downtown Cleveland for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. and one of the only St. Patrick's Day parades that is always held ON the day.

After the parade, families disperse to the many parties all around town. After marching in the parade, I will head off to entertain the crowds with my band, Ballinloch for the last performance of a two week non - stop Irish adventure."

synposis: with his best friend asking him for help because said best friend was scared he wasn't "boyfriend material" enough, heeseung looks for flower shops for his best friend's girlfriend. thankfully, jake knows someone from the university who has an aunt that owns a flower shop, you. now, heeseung messages you and shyly, but shamelessly asks if he can get any promos or discounts to which you shamelessly answered him, "buy one, take me". heeseung doesn't pass on this, of course. after all, you are pretty damn cute.

“heeseung,” the called boy hears and he turns around, seeing his best friend’s girlfriend with puffy red eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks. months ago, heeseung’s heart would break and he wouldn’t hesitate to fix ae-cha’s by giving his. ae-cha hugs him and heeseung freezes, not knowing what to do, feeling awkward. “jay and i fought.”

“i know,” heeseung says, hugging her back, patting her back awkwardly. fuck, months ago, he wouldn’t hesitate to have her in his arms, but now, it just feels so wrong. “look, ae-cha, uh,” he says, pulling away as he looks at her. “jay’s here, let me just—”

“no, please,” she cries, sniffling. “i can’t look at him, i was horrible to him.”

“look, he’s looking for you. that’s why we’re here. we just separated because he thought he saw you somewhere.” heeseung says. “he just wants to find you. he was rushing to find you, he didn’t even get to wear his glasses, i’m pretty sure he’s not wearing any contacts right now.”

“heeseung, what if he hates me?” ae-cha says and heeseung shakes his head, placing his hands on her shoulders.

“he doesn’t, okay?” heeseung says. “look, just talk to him. you can’t avoid any fights in a relationship. this is one of the many fights you will be having and that’s fine, as long as you two still make sense, okay?”

“okay.” she mumbles and heeseung nods, grabbing his phone as he calls jay, but no answer. “you’re right, i’m being silly.” she softly says and heeseung sighs. “thank you, hee.”

she leans in, hugging heeseung as he hugs back, patting her back. “you’ll be fine,” he says. “i’ll stay with you until jay…” heeseung trails off, seeing a familiar pair of eyes that had saved him from his heartbreak a lot of times. “shit,” he curses, not failing to catch the way your tears pool in your eyes. “i’ll call jay, i have to go.” heeseung says, pulling away as he doesn’t bother to look at ae-cha when you take a step back, turning around and walking away from him.

heeseung runs, chasing you as you rush your walking. “y/n, flower,” he calls when he’s finally near you. he holds your wrist and you only shake your head, pulling your wrist from his hand as you avoid his eyes, but he sees your eyes have let the tears go, the streetlight shining against your wet cheeks. “no, no, no. let me explain, flower.”

you bit your lip down, letting out a whimper as you suppress your sobs down. “no, please, flower. it’s a misunderstanding, let me explain.” he says, putting his arm around your waist as he pulls you against his chest, kissing your hairline. you give up, shaking your head. “look, jay and ae-cha had a fight—”

“so, you took your chance to pounce on her, okay.” you say, pushing him away and heeseung’s doe eyes lightly widen as he shakes his head. “heeseung, please, just—” you let out a sob, your hand coming up to cover your mouth as you close your eyes.

“no,” heeseung softly says. “y/n, flower, listen to me. i don’t like her anymore. it’s you. it’s you or no one, flower. please, let me just explain.”

“four years,” you say, looking up at him. “four fucking years, heeseung. that’s how long you’ve been in love with her. and while you were sulking and crying over her, i was at the side, admiring you from afar. she was the reason why we became close in the first place, heeseung. because of your feelings for her, you opened up to me. who do you always go to when you cry over her? me. i never said anything and you didn’t even notice that it hurt. heeseung, you literally passed your pain to me. and then what? a few months of us being friends, you suddenly like me, not her?”

“that’s unfair,” heeseung says. “i did my best to prove to you that i love you and not her. just listen to me, please—”

“that’s all i ever did, heeseung.” you say, wiping your tears off your cheeks. “don’t call me or whatever, okay?”

“flower, you’re just mad, please. let’s cool down and—” heeseung’s voice cracks as he tries to resist his threatening tears coming out of his eyes. “flower, i understand, i’m sorry, but please, just listen—”

“i’m tired of believing your sweet words.” you say and heeseung looks at you. “i… i just don’t—”

“you don’t trust me?” heeseung says and you look at him.

“i did.” you say. did, past tense. “it was the biggest mistake.” 

heeseung’s heart breaks all over again. he presses his lips into a thin line, looking at you. he takes in a deep breath, “then what the hell are we doing here if you don’t trust me?” heeseung says and you look away, shrugging. “why are we even trying this if you don’t trust me, y/n?”

y/n. not flower.

you look up, seeing him looking at you as one tear escapes heeseung’s eye. you wanted to apologize, let him explain, take him in your arms and for you to talk about things like you two always do. but maybe… this was better. instead of facing the problem of being away from him, maybe this is better.

so, without saying anything, you take a step back, turning around your heels as you walk away from him. heeseung, this time doesn’t chase you, he just watches you walk away.

Mag 17: “ As I got closer, I realised with a slight start that it was a rat, and not a dirty, wild rat but a large, white one, quite well-kept and clearly once a pet.” 

was this Jared’s pet rat?? I don’t think he would’ve taken the time to just break into someone’s house to steal a pet rat?? I know some people theorize that that was actuall Mike Crew’s doing bc he put the book back/and then small animal bones fell out when the book was with that crazy lady but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

MAG 49: “He removed his apron, walked to the chair, and sat down. His movements were sluggish now, uncoordinated, almost like he was drunk. Once in the chair, his huge frame slumped forward, and his eyes closed. It looked like he was asleep.“

Is he like full on feeding on fear?? It took him 4 hours to pull 200 bones out of someone’s body, does that actually take a ton of energy to do??

MAG 90: “The voice that answered was rough and spoke in the sort of English accent that usually gets my hackles up,”

What does this mean lol, like I understand when the guy hears this accent it makes him angry but why?? I am not British at all so is he being like...classist?? Does Jared sound like a stereotypical criminal or a douchebag??

Not sure if this was on purpose, but like way to drive home how Jared’s life was just going to be another nobody, just someone that people look down on in society, like even Jon’s like “wow what a meaningless life” and im like dude he’s a person!! he doesn’t have to have meaning, we’re all just living!! Nice touch tho

I’m going to go out on a limb on that last sentence and say that that’s not true because going back to the gym ep

Along with the fact he had whole tracksuit made that had a J on it, like for someone who didn’t really care about how the people felt you sure asked some very great ?s Jared and put in a LOT of effort to keep that gym up. I think his attitude change just comes from how more monstrous you become the longer your an avatar, especially after the world changed.

The Black Parade - Part 1

I don’t know if words can do this album justice. While Revenge is my personal favorite, I think Black Parade is MCR’s magnum opus. Listening to it is an emotional rollercoaster and a full body experience, and every single song is incredible. It’s an immaculate concept record that feels personal yet universal, theatrical yet intimate. It’s no surprise that it saved and changed so many lives. 

The End - an excellent introduction to the concept while also establishing the record as moving away from the more punk and hardcore inspired sounds of Bullets and Revenge and more towards arena rock, theatrical and dark and sad yet still very fun, I love the grandiosity of the whole song especially when the electric guitars kick in at 0:40, my favorite part is the line “when I grow up / I want to be nothing at all” at 1:16 because I love the line and how Gee devolves into screaming at the end to lead into the heavier section, I also love the transition at 0:56-1:03 with the snapping and backing vocals. Additionally, fun fact, during the TBP tour when they would play through the entire album, Frank was playing the opening section on a cheap acoustic electric Esteban guitar his dad got him (source at 8:06)

Dead! - I love the transition between the end and dead and how the heart monitor introduced in the end flatlines when dead starts, the contrast between the very upbeat sound and the very dark lyrics is super fun and interesting, it’s probably the most fun song on the album, I really like the voices Gee uses for the narrative, his scream at 0:03 is so satisfying, my favorite part is the end starting about 2:49 when he sings “If life ain’t just a joke / then why are we laughing?” and then ends with “If life ain’t a joke / then why am I dead?” (goddamn), my second favorite part is the woody the woodpecker guitar riff at 2:18. Dead was actually one of the first songs they wrote for TBP while touring on Revenge: “‘It’s about being dead and about people not liking you – it was a commentary on the band and how some people feel about us,’ said Gerard. ‘We wanted to say, “You may hate us but we’re still here.” We wanted to say, “Here we are, and we’re better. Here we are and we’re more daring and more defiant than ever.”’” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 139).

This Is How I Disappear - super underrated, some of my favorite vocals on TBP, god, Gee’s scream at 0:25, the harmonies at 2:17-2:34, fucking ethereal, and then the dissonant yelling starting at 2:40, and the layered singing at 3:33-3:46, chef’s kiss, also the line “I’m just a ghost / so I can’t hurt you anymore” (jesus christ), my favorite part is the demented section at 2:40-2:57 when he sings “You wanna see how far down / I can sink”, though I also adore the angelic bridge at 2:17-2:34, overall just a beautiful song, I highly recommend checking out the vocals only version, it works so well for this song

Sharpest Lives - one of my favorite songs off TBP, some of if not the best lyrics Gee ever wrote, I mean “You’re the one that I need / I’m the one that you loathe / You can watch me corrode / like a beast in repose”, “A light to burn all the empires / so bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be”, “Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands / drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, Romeo”, “So you can leave like the sane abandoned me”, every single line kills, what a fucking song, very dark subject matter but still playful and tongue-and-cheek at the same time, my favorite part is the bridge at 2:00-2:22 with the vocals ascending in fours and Ray tearing it up on guitar, I also love the weird little sounds at 1:08 (Frank?), and, of course, Gee’s pause after saying “So why don’t you blow me”

I’ll be posting a part 2 and 3 review of TBP in the (hopefully near) future, and I’ve already gone over all of Bullets and Revenge. All “extra” material (b-sides, EPs, etc) I’ll go over separately after doing all the albums. Feel free to share your own opinions about MCR with me.

end of the year reflections

TV shows watched: The Great British Bakeoff, Shadow and Bone, Bridgerton, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ted Lasso, Long Way Round, Long Way Down, Long Way Up, Star Trek Discovery, The Mandalorian (season 1), Wandavision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki (am I missing any?)

Movies watched: Tick, Tick … Boom, Single All the Way, The Prom, Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Come From Away, The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Love Hard. I did not go to the movie theater (they didn’t open up here until June).

Concerts attended: none (cries in pandemic forever). II know I did a virtual concert but for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was.

Musicals/Theater attended (masks and vaccination proof required): Jesus Christ Superstar, Mean Girls, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

Music listened to: I don’t do spotify so I have nothing “unwrapped.” Adele, Andrew Belle’s latest album, Darren Criss’s EP Masquerade and A Very Darren Crissmas, Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name).

Favorite tiktoks/youtube follows: Dr. Glaucomflecken, B Dylan Hollis, Nerdforge

Fanfic written: I finished off the last 4 chapters of sure like never before in January and February and then I spent the rest of the year writing these inconvenient fireworks, which I finished the last week in November. 52,000 words this year.

Books read: Sometime near the start of the pandemic in 2020, I joined a facebook group dedicated to reading Rilla of Ingleside, which triggered a rekindling in my interest in books. As a former book worm, it’s rather astonishing how little books I’ve read in the last decade – I’ve read many other things, newspapers and magazines and fanfiction, but very few books.

I set a goal of reading 20 books this year. I surpassed that and read 49 books this year (I don’t think I’ll get to 50 by midnight. You can read all of my reviews on goodreads.

Favorite book: The House In the Cerulean Sea. By far. I spent the rest of the year trying to recapture the feeling that that book gave me. Book that I thought I had read before but most definitely did not and it haunted me forever and I’m still not sure if I understand what happened. Liar. No really, what was that ending?

Word I can happily never see again in a plus-size romance: voluptuous (I think plus-sized romances aren’t my thing).

Book everybody should read: The Sum of Us. Really well-written and researched.

Books attempted but did not finish: The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky. I had forgotten how much I had hated the protagonist in the first book (I liked the plot! I liked the secondary characters. I hated Monty.) and couldn’t get through it. And I just got The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy from the library – we’ll see if the third times the charm. The Essex Serpent. I tried. It’s going to be a movie. Maybe I’ll watch it and then try again.

Number of camping trips: 2 (Oregon coast and Wyoming).

Number of plane trips: 2 (Utah/Wyoming for camping with the family in July, and Arizona to see the family in October. Hopefully maybe more in 2022?)

Weather disasters endured: ice storm in February, heat domes in June and July, atmospheric rivers in September.

Number of houses bought: 1

Number of repairs still needed on house: *cries*

Please Don't Leave Me Chapter 1

Title: Please Don’t Leave Me

Description: What if Aleksander hadn’t answered the door when Ivan interrupted the war room kissing? What if Aleksander and Alina had a bit more time to get to know each other before Baghra told her his true identity? Alina is the only one who can comfort Aleksander through his nightmares. Will she leave once she knows who he is?

This story is based on the show version and features a soft on the inside, hard on the outside Aleksander with an emphasis on emotional hurt/comfort and angst. If you are looking for lots of hurt!Aleksander thoughts, then this story is for you. Mal exists but pretty much solely to cause Aleksander some angst. Don’t worry. It will be a Darklina ending.

Chapter 1 is a missing scene at the end of Ep 4 (a bit of a prequel to the real story but I just NEEDED this scene to set them up), and Chapter 2 takes place alongside Ep 5 and then diverges from canon there. I have 14 chapters (49 pages) written so far that I am in the process of editing, and I will be writing a lot more.

Warnings: Grisha are oppressed in this universe, and I don’t shy away from showing the horrors of that. There may eventually be mentions of canon-typical torture (Fjerdan pyres), death of family members, and cruelty to Grisha children. It’s not the focus, but that backdrop is definitely there and comes up as characters discuss their past.

Chapter 1

It was already several hours past a reasonable time to be asleep, but Aleksander sat at his desk pouring over books on the Stag and amplifiers. He had read them all before; he even had some memorized, but he kept hoping that he would glean some hint he had missed before or understand a detail in a new light after recently reading something else. It was likely a futile effort, but he kept trying.

The night before, Alina had stumbled into his war room. He had been distraught over the likely loss of Nina. The rumors of West Ravkans helping the Druskelle capture her, of them turning on Grisha as their kin had before … they were enough to pull him back into the nightmares of the past. But then she had just been there, standing in his doorway. As embarrassed as he was that she had seen him lose control of his power and seen his eyes fill with tears, having her there was exactly what he’d needed. She had reminded him that he wasn’t alone anymore, that he didn’t have to fight to save Grisha with his power alone anymore. He had hers now. The strength of her light, her warmth when she grabbed his wrist was amazing. It had been enough to banish his shadows away. She was getting more powerful as she adjusted to using what she had always hidden. Together they were strong, but it still wasn’t enough. But if they found the Stag and he worked with her, together they would be powerful enough to protect Grisha. Not to mention what an amplifier that strong would do to her lifeline.

A soft knock at his door surprised him. He’d sent Ivan to bed hours ago. Perhaps an update on Nina? “Come,” he called.

“Alina,” he couldn’t help the smile that came over his face at seeing her standing in his doorway. “Come in.”

She looked more comfortable tonight entering his rooms. He liked that she seemed more at ease with him and his proximity. Gone were the days of her backing away in fear when he moved towards her. Tonight, though, she seemed different than even the night before, more confident somehow. Perhaps it was just that Genya had retouched her undereyes to get rid of the tiredness there, but that wouldn’t account for her more relaxed body language.

“Still having trouble sleeping?” he asked with concern. “I can get you some kvas,” he offered, rising to go get her some.

“No, thank you. I … I’m feeling much more relaxed tonight, actually.”

So he wasn’t imagining things. “To what do I owe this pleasure, then? Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad you’re here. But, two visits in two nights, careful, I might come to like this,” he teased.

She matched his smile but blushed a little. It looked good on her. “It sounds silly when I put words to it.”

“Tell me,” he commanded.

“I just wanted to check on you,” she admitted. “I talked to Genya, and she said she’d heard rumors that you often have trouble sleeping, weight of the world on your shoulders and all that. I hope you don’t mind that she shared that. She was just trying to put my mind at ease. But, last night you just seemed … Well, I worried you might need a little light tonight.” She glanced nervously over at him for his reaction.

All he could do was laugh. “You’re checking up on me?” It was unbelievable, unexpected, and adorable.

“Are you laughing at me?” she demanded.

He shook his head. “I’m laughing at me. Here I’m worried if I intimidate you, and you think I need tucked in for the night.”

“What? Is the great General Kirigan too important to have someone care how he’s feeling?”

“No,” he whispered, amazed at how she had this way of cutting right through to him. “Not at all. Quite the opposite.” It was just that no one ever cared to even notice, unless you counted when the others feared they would anger him.

“Please, join me,” he offered. He pulled a chair for her next to his at the desk.

She took it and glanced at the desk full of books. “You’re interested in the Stag, too!” she said with surprise.

“You know the lore of the Stag?” Of course he’d seen her sketches and read her letters, but he wasn’t sure how much she actually knew about the object of her dreams.

“Must you always be shocked when I know history? I am educated, you know. Perhaps not as a Grisha, but I am well-read.”

“Perhaps you’d like to help me, then,” he offered and gestured at the pile of books. “I’ve read them until the words swirl in my head, but maybe you have a different perspective. You might notice something different.”

Her eyes scanned the books and one of them caught her eyes. “This one,” she said, pulling a book of text written entirely in Old Ravkan.

He remembered Genya mentioning in one of her debriefs that Alina spoke Old Ravkan. It was a useful skill for the court, but their accents grated his nerves. Alina’s voice, though? He smiled at the thought of speaking Old Ravkan with her. “So, read it to me?”

He closed his eyes as he listened to her beautiful voice read to him in his native language. “This is different from my dreams,” she murmured as her fingers brushed a line.

“You dream of the Stag?” He hoped she would open up and tell him more.

She nodded. “I know it’s silly. Mal would tell me it’s just a fairytale, but …” she trailed off.

“It’s a sign, Alina,” he said with confidence. He reached out and took her hand. “I believe the Stag is real, and I believe it’s meant for you. People might think me a fool, too, but I can feel it. It’s meant for you. Your dreams just prove it. I want to find it for you, to amplify your powers. I know you’re scared to face the Fold, but with me and the Stag, you will be powerful enough. For the first time, Alina, I have hope.”

She was still frightened, unsure if she would be enough; he could see it in her eyes, but it was less so than before. “I did much better calling the light on my own today,” she shared.

“You did? Show me.”

She looked a little nervous, but there was more sureness in her as she stood and called a large ball of the light. “I know it’s not a lot yet, but I’m getting stronger.”

“I can tell. You’re doing great. Do you mind if I ask what changed? You do seem different tonight.”

She took a deep breath. “I think I just had to accept who I am, to stop hiding her. I’ve spent my entire life hiding. I had to accept I am Grisha, and I have a place in all this.”

He wanted to say ‘by my side’ but he worried it would be too much for her. He had probably said too much thanks to the kvas the night before, not to mention nearly kissing her. And, yet, look at how she had responded. Strong. Confident. It suited her. “Together we will have the strength to make sure Grisha never have to hide again.” He looked her in the eye. “I will not let us fail. Now, tell me about your dreams.”

A Jikook Guide to RunBTS: 91-101

Sometimes, I think about some of the moments I list here and start to worry that I'm reading too much into things. And I'll be the first to admit that a bunch of them are ambiguous enough that reasonable people can differ in their interpretation. 

The thing about jikook, though, is that there are so many of these eyebrow-raising types of moments that you could throw out half of them and still have enough left over to think "there's something up with those two." Especially in the following episodes...

Ep 91 "Mini Golden Bell Part 1" (Ep: 3 / KM: 1)

The ones where they make the best of sitting on the floor of an empty room and Jin and JK just barely manage to avoid murdering Tae over his less-than-excellent MC skills

03:35 - Everyone is confident that the "oh!" sound that's played is either JK or JM, but aren’t sure which is which. 

8:14 - When JM gets the right answer, JK is the only one to clap.

16:38 - JK is once again the only one to clap when JM gets an answer right.

Ep 92 "Mini Golden Bell Part 2" (Ep: 3 / KM: 2)

15:00 - As he goes to measure JK's arm, JM informs everyone that JK's arms have gotten longer since he's been boxing.

15:54 - When JM keeps moving around while JK is trying to measure his arm, JK tells Suga to hold JM still. 

16:31 - When JM's arm somehow seems to get slightly shorter from his stretching, JK gets excited and calls him "Jimin" (no hyung) a few times and then "Jimin-ssi."

20:03, 20:18 - When JK is singing his karaoke love song, the other guys are all over-emoting or swaying and listening, but JM just stares straight at him (and even looks genuinely emotional?) and the camera just stops showing him at a certain point. See picture above. 

20:46 - When JK starts to criticize Suga's cham cham cham performance, Jimin tells JK to just sit down. And he does.  

BEHIND 5:48 - After RM tries to comfort JM about his short arms by saying his legs are long, JK repeats "yes, your legs are long" and then sings a lyrics with JM's name inserted ("moon, moon, what kind of moon jiminie")

Ep 93 "BTS Marble Part 1" (Ep: 4 / KM: 3)

The ones where I still don’t understand this game but enjoy the episodes involving it anyway

0:42: Not jikook-related, but I can't not point out the adorable moment where RM makes a pun about how Marble sounds like the way Koreans pronounce Marvel and JK says "I love you 3000" to himself. 

10:22 - JM and JK are sitting pretty close all episode, but it's particularly apparent here, where JM's arm is resting on JK's thigh as they read a question together.

10:40 - Reading the question is long done, but JM's arm remains. 

12:21 - JM pats JK's shoulder in comfort after he messes up a question.

16:14 - After the heart-making game is over, JM and JK make hearts towards each other once more.

20:21 - JK taps JM's leg while sweetly reminding him that the pedometer game is difficult. Then they lean in to strategize together. 

21:07 - JM pats JK's back when he ends up winning the pedometer game, then again when it seems like JK was tired out by it. BEHIND 1:15 - JK is sitting next to JHope in this shot. The next time we see them, JM is there instead and stays there the rest of the game.

JK then picks up his foot to show his drawn-on sock and makes a different silly noise, causing JM to giggle. The shot gets cut off mid-giggle for whatever reason...

Ep 98 "Pajama Party Part 2" (Ep: 4 / KM: 1)

You'd think this would be a super jikook-y episode given those pictures, but strangely enough, there are no moments of note in the episode itself. Since you can see the pics without watching the ep, I didn’t include them in the KM score.

BEHIND 1:20 - JM complains to JK that he hasn't gotten any answers right so far.  Some people have matched this to a round of the game in the episode itself where JK doesn't seem to be guessing as enthusiastically as he did before, perhaps in an attempt to make JM feel less bad. I mention it here because it's a theory I've seen a lot, but YMMV.

7:50 - JK shows JM that he has attached J and M balloons to his shirt while saying "JM" and "Jimin," making JM giggle. 

Ep 99 "Florists" (Ep: 5 / KM: 3)

The one where we learn that Jin probably doesn't have a future as a florist

4:33 - When JM starts to get embarrassed because everyone is laughing about his birth flower name sounding like a dirty word in Korean, JK rubs JM's neck and then continues rubbing circles on his back for a while after, seemingly to comfort him. 

19:05 - When Jimin looks confused after RM says he comes out of a glass bowl in Serendipity, JK lightly slaps him on the chest for forgetting. It's almost like it has some sort of personal meaning to him...

28:05 - After JK presents the bouquet he made (which he says represents all different kinds of love), JM says "I think I'll love it when I get it as a present."  Translation note: As we've discussed before, Korean can be hard to translate because often pronouns are omitted. A more literal translation is "present if received will be loved." Most translations that I've seen interpret it as Jimin talking about himself as the recipient, but it's not totally clear. Mentioning this because I know I was wondering why this moment isn't talked about more, since it seems fairly suggestive that JM would assume JK was going to give him a bouquet of flowers he made.

28:38 - When JM explains what "Serendipity" means, he's looking at JK (I think - I'll be totally honest and say the angle is weird and it could be RM).

31:02 - After the florist picks J-Hope's bouquet over JK's as his favorite, JM comments that Jungkook's "looks like a real bouquet for a wedding."

Ep 100 "100th Episode Special Part 1" (Ep: 4 / KM: 3)

I’m going to be totally honest with you and say that I didn’t see it that way - JK had been getting increasingly annoyed at the other team re-doing serves and my read was that the moment was more about that. Let me know if you see it differently.  Regardless, the more significant moments are the ones in the Behind...

BEHIND 4:13 - When JM is hit near the eye with the badminton birdie, JK goes over to him and checks on whether his eye was hit. JM reaches out towards him as he gets up. It's interesting to me that the others stand back and let JK be the one to check in on JM, even though Tae and Jin were both closer when it happened. 

5:03 - Not a jikook moment, but JK is doing an adorable cheerleading routine in the background here and I can't not mention it...

8:39 - When JM sees that Jin and JK aren't messing around and JK was actually hit in the nose with the volleyball, he gets serious and walks over, asking him multiple times if it hurts a lot. He ruffles JK's hair before kneeling down next to him to check in.

K: So, we came here.

K: Where is this?

J: Its Zōshigaya. Well, Zōshigaya is just up there, but this place probably only locals know about. Its on Tsurumaki Street. This is a very small shopping street, but Akamaru Bakery is here. I found this place by chance before, and it was really good.

T: What did you get?

J: Kaoru?

K: Chicken Nanban

T: I got a hot dog.

J: I got this tuna and egg mix.

K: I wanted to get that, but I thought I shouldn't if you are getting it.

J: Haha, no, no, no, that makes me look bad.

K: Hahah.

J: This is ¥190, right?

T: Its cheap, isn't it?

J: It is cheap!  Ok, lets stand and eat.

T: Yep.

J: Ok, lets go for it. Apologies to the locals, we are not trying to be rude. Its a food report. This kind of bakery is quite rare these days, isn't it? They're all like new, stylish ones now.

K: *eats* Mm.

J: *eats* Mm, tastes good.

K: Yeah, its good.

J: The bread is really soft too.

T: Yeah.

J: I didn't eat before this.

K: If this was in my neighborhood, I would come every day.

J: Absolutely. Ah, delicious. So, this is like an 8 min walk from Zōshigaya station, right? Its a bit of a walk, but you'll be able to find it online if you search for it.

T: Ths is good. Its delicious.

K: Where is this?

J: So this is the tram on the Toden-Arakawa line.

T: Its Kishibojinmae station.

K: Ahh, so ??? (*Facing away from camera with mask on...couldn't clearly make out what he said*)

J: Thats it. So, we are gonna move to a different spot from here.

T: Yep, its been all funfunfun before now, but this time we are gonna go looking for some Tokyo mysteries. So, we'll get on this train and go to a certain place.

J: Tokyo Sports is all about mysteries, monsters, and UFOs, right? (*Couldn't really follow the rest of this exchange*)

3:29 T: The mystery spot that I am gonna introduce is this bridge. Omokage bridge (Omokage=face/visage).

J: It just looks like a regular bridge.

T: Its a really short bridge. Its almost not a bridge. This explains the name (*points to info board*). So, actually, on the otherside of the bridge there used to be the criminal execution center for Zōshigaya.

J: Ahh, so this is not exactly the river Styx, but..

T: Yeh, and they would part from thier family on this side of the bridge, and be taken over to the other side.

J: I see.

T: Its just a theory, but its thought that its called 'Omokage/visage brige', because they left the memory thier faces here. But there is also a history to this brigde. You know the story of 'Yotsuya Kaidan'/The Ghost of Yotsuya?

J: Yep, yep.

T: With Oiwa san..

J: Like 'I curse youuuu'

T: Yeh, yeh, yeh. Do you know the story of Oiwa san?

J: Yeh, I do. Like 'One plate, two plates..'

T: No, thats Sarayashiki, thats a different one. So, what happened was, there was a man, and his wife called Oiwa. The man became annoyed with her, and she was made to drink a poison which scarred her face. Then he forced her to seperate from him. The woman cursed him, saying she would come back as a ghost. This woman Oiwa was nailed to a door post, and thrown in the river to be washed away, there's a scene like that, right?  Its thought that this is the spot she was thrown in the river. So, this story, Yotsuya Kaidan, came about as a Kabuki play after its writer, Tsuruya Nanboku had gathered up a lot of these kind of local  rumors during the Edo era. We don't know if Oiwa san really was washed away here, but we know this kind of thing did happen. Its only a short bridge, but its got this kind of history going back to the Edo era.

J: ???*1

T: Actually, I used to live around here.

J: Ehh? Why in such a frightful place?

T: It was cheap.

J: Is this in Shinjuku ward?

T: No, its in Toshima ward.

J: Oh, Toshima?

T: Just on the verge of Shinjuku.

K: It says Shinjuku here.

T: Yes, but..Oh, the other side is Toshima.

J: Where we are stood now is Shinjuku. Its next to Waseda, right?

T: Should we cross the bridge?

Its a very quiet surburban area, but this place was voted for by a listener, or rather a user, as a good mystery spot. We recieved this email, so Kaoru could you read it out?

K: (*reading*) Its from 'Yasubeniisann'. It says, 'This is quite famous, but in Nezu there is a haunted staircase. When you go up the stairs there are 40 steps, but going down, there are only 39'....Um..did..

J: We already spilled the mystery.

T: Yeah.

J: Well, we already spilled the mystery , but yes, this is what we are going to see. A mysterious set of stairs. Lets go.

J: Yeah, I think right up to the top.

K: Both sides are the same, right?

J: Seems like it. Which side is the way up?

T: Yeah.

J: Well, it depends on whether or not you count this as the first step. If you do count it, then there is 40 steps going up. But if you look over here, this side is barely elevated from the ground at all. So you end up taking the second level as the first step.
