I know I just made a post about the complaints but what do you fucking mean the new rateup gacha is paywalled. I know PB is new to this sort of gacha game but at this point, I really do think they need to do some more research and look at how other gachas manage their own rateup gachas as well as their game balancing, because this is getting fucking ridiculous.

Several issues I have with this:

(Rant post again, feel free to skip over. I'm tired at this point.)

It's giving Pokemon Unite new character being paywalled vibes. And people complained HARD about Unite because new characters are often busted while shifting the meta greatly, which is like. Really Fucking Bad for Ranked!!! You can make the argument that WHB is a PvE game but still, not a wise decision when PvE meta and viability can change over time. Look at how, in Arknights, the standard DP generator combo became the Flagpipe combo the moment Bagpipe was released, or how people started using GoldenGlow over Eyjafjalla for her global range. You can clear stages with other units, it just becomes much more complicated. And this game's current meta for easy clears is L-rank skill spam, so if this trend keeps up...

The amount of communication regarding patch notes is atrociously low. Early on, there were some ninja patches without any prior notice as to what they're for - the last time I've seen this happen is on Brave Frontier (which is where we used this term most anyways), and they've stopped doing sudden patch fixes without any announcements after their servers have mostly stabilized (which was around Zevalhua or Alfa Dilith arc iirc, this was nearly a decade ago). Even GBF announces major patch notes like the raid instakill after Belial raid implementation exploit, only doing stealth fixes for things like fixing skill descriptions (and EVEN THEN they still announce what they fixed). Some days after launch I've tapped into WHB only to be greeted by a ~400 mb size patch, which is really fucking draining on standard shit SEA net, and often with no discernible reason behind the update at all. Which often leaves me wondering, what the fuck were they fixing to warrant such a huge patch - especially when there wasn't any obvious difference between patches?

Related to the above, one of the things that I feel pissed players off about this current banner is the fact that there was no indication that it was going to be a paid gacha. The prior announcement only mentioned the usage of Solomon's Seals, which people naturally assumed could be purchased using Guilty Gems. Having separate gacha materials for a time limited banner would make sense to most seasoned gacha players - this system is used in many CN games like Honkai Star Rail and Arknights to differentiate between banners. In HSR it's to differentiate between permanent items (Regular Warp) and new/limited items (Event Warp), while in AK it's to differentiate between older units (Kernel Headhunt, up until Suzuran's banner) and newer units (all other Headhunts, including Limited Headhunts). In both of these cases, you could use each game's respective Guilty Gem equivalent (Stellar Jade for HSR, Orundum for AK) to grab these gacha items. Which, again, is not the case in this new banner.

Another thing that pissed players off is the monetization. Now, me and a friend have both voiced out our gripes with this game in our GBF crew server, and it's mostly related to the gacha rates and scarcity of resources. Solomon's Tears, Greater Key and Lesser Key rates, how little Guilty Gems we get? All discussed by us. It got to a point non-players end up getting interested to listen to what we have to say about this game. And recently, after finding out just how expensive the Solomon's Seals packs are (if they're really $30, then they're the same price as a GBF Suptix for a 10-pull, and a Suptix is a 10-pull PLUS a unit of your choice from a given pool of units), it got to a point where we're just not surprised. It's insane how much we've grown tired of the constant bad decisions.

Even though I'm against harassing the devs, it's decisions like these that are VERY worthy of criticism imo, and very understandable for it to be the reason why one might choose to drop the game. I understand that you need money, but the monetization practices and gacha mechanics being introduced are not F2P friendly. In fact, I doubt they're friendly for dolphins, either - only whales and leviathans can reasonably benefit from them. And I've talked extensively about the game design choices that confuse me at best and piss me off at worst. Me personally, I've definitely reached my limit on leniency for the devs, and I've been lenient on other games as well, notably Limbus Company. Look, as much as Project Moon fucked up with how they handled the Vellmori situation, LCB also had a very rocky launch with worse stability issues than WHB (I nearly couldn't beat Kromer bc of them), but I still stuck by it because it was F2P-friendly, had a super engaging world and characters paired with a superb story, and the devs were communicative about everything (roadmap and emergency updates included). It got to a point I was about to willingly drop money for the paid battlepass if Gregor had a paid EGO reward (AEDD Gregor ended up being free but I bought some Google Play credit just in case - which was diverted to Muse Dash in the end) if not for the controversy. The monetization and paid gacha being the rate-up in WHB is definitely the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

As for what I'm going to do with my WHB account? The fan server I'm in was compiling the bugs they've found as well as other concerns regarding the gameplay and gacha mechanics in particular, to send an email to the devs. I might help around with these efforts if still required and see if there are any positive changes (especially in terms of monetization). I've stopped playing regularly for now, and I feel like this is a game I'm likely to drop in the future. Which is a shame, because while I find the premise interesting, to me it isn't enough to justify the shoddy game experience. Especially when I have other games on my plate - chapter 12 H stages are coming in AK, and Lone Trail is next week btw!

I'll just vicariously enjoy the plot through other people's playthroughs, mostly because that's what interested me about this game in the first place. I'm sorry, I just can't force myself to play the damn game at this point.

ARC Review of Out of Office by A.H. Cunningham

Rating: 4.25/5 Heat Level: 3.75/5 Publication Date: April 23rd

Premise:

Genevieve is a high-powered hospitality executive intent on getting a promotion. Before she does, she decides to throw caution to the wind and embark on a vacation fling with Adrián, her driver in Panama. Two weeks later, neither of them are ready to end what they have.

My review:

This is a sensual, stunningly emotional read that touches on so many realistic adult issues while never sacrificing the romance. Genevieve and Adrián are in their thirties; Genevieve is a consummate career woman and you really understand where her drive to succeed comes from. Adrián on the other hand suffered from burnout some years prior and is now focusing on his family and their small hotel in Panama. Gen is endearingly uptight and type-A (her alternate persona is "Hot Girl Gen which... is so real of her), Adrián is super smooth and super laid-back, and they're technically in opposite places life-wise, so how do they make this work?

The answer is a lot of communication, but let me preface this by saying this doesn't make the book boring or *too real*. Instead, what you do get is two people who are instantly attracted to each other (and the chemistry is THERE right off the bat, and it's honestly kind of insane), but they need to make some tough choices when it comes to sustaining their relationship— What do they compromise on? What do they sacrifice? And this becomes even more relevant when their personal and professional lives collide and Genevieve's ability to do her job hinges on her successfully headhunting Adrián. As a woman of color, I really appreciated the nuanced way the author handled Gen's career, as well as a host of other topics like Adrián's bisexuality, the fact that Adrián isn't traditionally as "successful" as Gen career-wise (something you still don't see in a lot of romance novels), and Genevieve and Adrián's drive to revitalize small communities like Adrián's rather then outright gentrify them.

Also, the way A.H. Cunningham described the setting in places like Aguimar in Panama? Gorgeous. And love and care with which she wrote Afro-Panamanian culture really comes across.

The sex:

My big takeaway here is that the closer Gen and Adrian grew, the hotter the sex acts got. The initial sex scenes very sensual and more focused on building this emotional connection between them, and making them realize they were irreplaceable in each others' lives despite this ostensibly being a vacation fling. But once they found some semblance of permanence with one another, I feel like all bets were off. I loved how toys, masturbation, and video sex were incorporated into the story later (which makes sense since a part of their relationship is long-distance!), and Adrián had a strong "let me take care of you" vibe during sex which was never patronizing, but very hot. Also, Gen does, in fact, rim him during a blowjob, something I pleasantly surprised by.

Overall:

This is the second Harlequin Afterglow book I'm reviewing after The Boyfriend Subscription, and I've really enjoyed both of them. They've both been far more diverse than most of the contemporary romances I'm seeing out there, they're romantic, they have great sex scenes. I'd strongly recommend Out Of Office to anyone looking for a grown-up sexy kinda read.

I think one thing that bothers me about this is that, even if Benford scouted Leon back in 1998, how does that make him the same guy as the guy in Leon Epilogue? Nothing says that. And how do we know he even made those terms (i.e. threatening children) himself--that's totally reaching!!! That's also assuming that the writers in re6 even cared about Leon Epilogue and if they even considered it when saying Benford headhunted him!!! Why should we hold Benford accountable for something so damn serious and important to Leon's character when it's just based on a lot of assumptions by fans

yep -- that's another great point. the airsoft ad pins the blame on Benford because, according to that ad, Benford was the Director of the CIA at the time (he wasn't). so, even under the airsoft ad's stupid fanfiction, there's nothing in there about Benford being the actual person directly interrogating Leon. N O T H I N G.

the only assumption that you could actually make in quasi-good faith, going off of that fanfiction, is that Benford was the one who gave the order to threaten Sherry in order to coerce Leon in the first place -- but not only is that just an assumption, it's a far-reaching one.

because this scene doesn't just exist in the RE3 epilogue. it also takes place on screen and fully voiced in Darkside Chronicles. and the guy interrogating Leon (whose face is never shown and is actually talking to him via intercom) says basically "we have free reign to do whatever we want with you."

so, for all we know, Benford, had he been the one calling the shots (and he wasn't), very possibly never gave a ghoulish fucking order like "kill the girl if he doesn't cooperate" or even "make him think that we'll kill her." he could have just been like, "don't hurt them, but don't let them get away, either." and the jackass on the intercom was just bluffing the whole time -- just, convincingly enough that Leon believed him and never questioned it.

you know, not dissimilarly to how the shitheads down in gitmo treat prisoners. no one gives the order for them to do that shit. they just kind of do it.

but the whole thing is a non-issue anyway, because Benford was never the CIA Director and wasn't involved in any of this shit to begin with.

like. we're not talking about a minor detail, here. this is the single most important, pivotal moment in Leon's entire character arc. this is the exact moment that he stops being who he was and completely changes into someone else. you actually see the exact second that his soul fucking dies in the DSC scene. it's REALLY IMPORTANT to get the facts straight on what, exactly, happened during this event.

Leon loved Adam Benford, and Adam Benford is one of exactly three (3) people in this entire fucking series who genuinely loved him back without debate to be had or caveats needing to be added (the other two are Chris and Sherry, if you're wondering -- and I'm happy to go into why Chris and not anyone else, if anyone's interested). That is canon.

after all this shit, i have half a mind to ship these two out of fuckin spite, bro.

Ok, thanks to @armageddon-is-light-after-dark, I've finally been able to start in on Jedi Survivor. I'm still really early in, but for those who still want to be completely out of the loop, I'll stick every thing else below the cut.

The opening definitely demonstrates why Cal should -not- be the one in charge of planning things, at least in the beginning sections of the game! And owch, they don't skimp about throwing big fights your way quickly! And absolutely, I can see Cal's frustration with Everything leading him to work with Saw, even if this seems like a Bad Idea? That said, I really want to know how Cere and him split - I don't think she'd approve of what he's doing, so I have questions there, too, that I hope get answered.

Other thoughts - the customization is absolutely mind-boggling. Still wish the lightsaber parts had some sort of mechanical difference (like in the KOTOR games), but, that's just a personal preference and a minor quibble. I'm having trouble with the more advanced platforming (wall jump is defeating me quite a bit), but that's also very likely just a 'me' problem. All the little bits of lore are really nice to see, too, especially as a Legends fan! I squeaked at the mention of Z-95 headhunters! (Though, I seem to recall Coruscant had a planetary shield so, uh, I have questions? Is that a Legends-only thing now?)

Oh, and the animation improvements - they're not cutting away from hands now to show things like repairs, which is just a neat little improvement I noticed!

So far, I'm enjoying it. I hope they do right by my favorite characters (I'm specifically worried about how they're going to handle Cere and Merrin), and I'm really liking the new character of Bode - I'm really hoping to see more of his story arc, too!

Awwww thank you so much ❤!! yes it’s gonna be so sad for me too to not have my weekly live screaming sessions,, nooo this masterpiece of a story got over ;_; as they say, every good thing has to come to an end (nooooo~) so we gotta enjoy it till it lasts ;_; [I want to reread it again, but not anytime now... I need time to recover, sadly it seems I am getting increasingly upset and frustrated seeing A Certain Someone’s logic and arguments so I need some time to get over it and read again with a clearer mind; lol I generally don't get this upset over a fictional character but this guy’s character resonate a lot with someone ik ig that’s why I associate one with the other in my mind idk]

Break continues to be my favorite character which is honestly a surprise bc I tend to change my favorite midway through the series (I am not faithful shhh); Lottie and Lacie come a close second (well-written female characters tho they had not enough screen time (at least not for me, I wanted to see more of them!), they have lots of gaps and flaws I can develop on in my mind and in my fics if I ever post anything) 

The two Alices, Oz and Gil: they are my babies now I adopted them, already signed adoption papers and all 💪 (once again, a surprise bc I hardly ever care about the main characters but these four are just... made-to-be-loved how dare anyone hurt them?!?!? *looking at a Certain Someone 🔪🔪* I just wish we saw more of Alyss and her thoughts, likes, dislikes etc. before the end. Since Cheshire loved her but was dead scared of our Alice, Alyss must have craved for meat less lol) 

Fun fact: my favorite arc in Pandora Hearts still remains *drumroll* Headhunter Arc my beloved <3 

not only was it mochijun’s super self-indulgent glamorous-makeover-for-all-my-characters arc but also has some of the best cliffhangers, plot twists and lore—humpty-dumpty (this chain damn!), Fianna’s house and their eerie ritual of making contractors out of little homeless kids, the doings of Isla Yura, his cult of Jack worshippers and the Nightrays (except Elliot ofc) all gave me chills and thrills, kept me to the edge of the seat,, say, if you see, I have less live drafts for that arc, it’s because... I was so invested in the story I couldn't even bother to pause and log on to tumblr; I just had to get to the end. It was like a standalone, little whodunit+thriller story arc with Eliot as the detective/protagonist set out to investigate his family’s curse ;_; and then the final reveal of the actual criminal (Retrace 61) 😭 (something I had guessed at in the beginning from Lottie’s words but the rat is just that good at distracting us from the truth =_=)

The rest of the story is, well, do I need to explain aghfhshfg why is this story so compact and coherent and filled with so much foreshadowing right from the first panel of the Retrace 1 that it still gives me goosebumps (I was actually talking about Retrace 76/77 with my friend (no, not specifying names or giving out spoilers, she hasn’t read PH yet and I am slowly luring her in with a carrot into this rabbit hole)—kinda like: See? I think I have uncovered a huge conspiracy theory— you know the suspected immortals in our world? I think they never die but go full Benjamin Button mode back and forth! She is super interested to know more and I am waiting to cast The Question: *conspiratorial tone* Do you wanna read something with a plot like that?)

2. how did you get into this franchise/fandom?

this one is probably boring, i don't really remember. i started reading the manga halfway through, and then followed its publishing from that point forward (both online and with physical, german copies i bought at the train station in my town). i'm fairly sure that was sometime before the headhunter arc? when things were still happy and mostly fine, is my point. it's a big part of how i learned english. while i haven't been very active within the fandom in a while, i've been with this franchise for a stupidly long time.

7. what’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?

pandora hearts is truly the best story i've read so far in my life. it's hard to describe just how many emotions it made me feel. it touches on so many topics that are so human that it's hard not to connect with it. it's a tragedy at its core, it's about hope and self-love and devotion and acceptance, it's about loss and grief and self-hatred and identity. i could go on about this for a while, but what encompasses it for me is the characters and their relationship to each other. not all of them could be fully explored, but i think pandora hearts did a great job at seeing the relationships integral to its plot to a fulfilling end.

8. what’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

is it too cliché to say the way break's story ended? this is very much connected to the way he was built in the first place (built different. built worse actually lmao). break's history makes it so that any development he could have happens at a very slow pace— he's set in his ways, he's stubborn, he's deeply traumatized. he simply didn't have the time to grow any more than he did. which, i realize, is part of the moral of his story. it fits the theme of the manga, though i do believe a different ending for him could've been possible and fit just as well. i almost brought up the tragedy aspect of the manga here, as well, but i think that's the point. it's a sad story, but it's supposed to be. it's cathartic. it wouldn't work as well if it was made any other way. all this to say, there's not a lot pandora hearts does badly, and i'm absolutely biased in my desire to see break alive and happy.

Once I get the next chapter of the bau tkc au out and the next chapter of yfyr, I'm going to set my focus on the next part of Yìrán's life post-canon pre-return to China and the next chapter of my the blooms at ruyi pavilion ot3 modern day au. And then I'm gonna put out the first scenario in like. A Minute™

The BAU Traumatized Kids' Club au is a Criminal Minds canon divergent au which starts in the season three episode "Children of the Dark" and is based around the idea of "What if Emily did adopt Carrie and Derek adopted Tyler and Sara?" It's also got an interlude collection, of which the chapters are currently just about Elle's life after leaving the BAU and moving back to New York. Once I get further into the main story, the rest of the Team will have interludes as well that tie-in. On a side note, I'm also excited for my OCs in this one! I have some fun arcs up my sleeves haha

yfyr, or its full title "you fancy you're a rebel so let me hear you shout", is a modern day organized crime Derry Girls au. The main relationship is Orla x James x David, and there are several background pairings as well. The summary is basically that Davey gets jumped while walking over to the Mallons' home and reaches the door bloody and half out of it. Orla, who uses xe/ze/hir pronouns, takes this very personally. I have given the members of Davey's band The Nether Regions names and face claims, which you can see on the pinterest board that's attached to the story. I absolutely love my OCs in this.

Yìrán is the female minor antagonist from the cdrama Love O2O. Her series revolves around her leaving China post-canon and going to the States for uni for a few years before returning. Those couple years away help her learn and grow into a better, more self-assured person, and she ends up getting headhunted to work in Zhi Yi Tech, aka Xiao Nai's company.

My ot3 modern day au for The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion is a fake dating au centered around Fù Xuān x Wú Báiqǐ x Guō Ruì. It was inspired by a, uh, Mingyu x reader x Wonwoo scenario that lives in my mind rent-free. But my version has a little bit more angst than its inspiration does. And I have a single line homage to my favorite Ready or Not timeloop fic Turning the Hourglass.

The next scenario I write and post is most likely going to be a qcynario, unless anyone has any opinions from my in-progress post which I've not had to update in. Uh, quite a while I should say 😅

THE PULL OF LUST - Chapter 1

 'It's getting closer.'

I thought to myself as I marched forward in the light drizzle of snow.

It was late March, so the snowfalls were lighter, while the snow on the ground was thinning and getting muddy.

I had been planning to cross into Weberville from Peace River but I had to make last minute changes to my plans due to meeting a cleared area where there was supposed to be thick woods and vegetation to hide as I traveled.

The area seemed to have been cleared for the construction of warehouses and that meant I wouldn't be able to travel unnoticed until construction was over or paused for the season.     

Sadly, I don't see that happening soon.

March was almost over and spring was on its way.

If anything, construction efforts would double.    

I pushed my hair back, forcing the long blond strands of hair to stay in place.

I had my hair in a high bun but stray strands kept getting loose.

I gritted my teeth, trying to fight the chill of the breeze that just blew by as I kept walking.

There were other werewolves around. I knew that.

I could smell their scent and I've been avoiding them for the past few days.   

Being alone was hard sometimes but it wasn't so terrible that I sort refugee with a group.

I'm a lone wolf. In other terms, a Rogue.

I left my pack in the Siberian Mountains and I traveled through Russia before leaving the country completely.

I move from town to town, state to state and country to country without much thought. 

I don't need much thought.

All I'm trying to do is fill the void and emptiness I can't stop feeling.

Right now, I'm in the middle of Nowhere in a small town in Alberta, Canada.

Peace River has a population just scratching seven thousand.

It's also largely rural with acres of untouched vegetation and wilderness.

It was the perfect place for Werewolves to hide in plain sight and that's why I had been eager to cross over to the next town but the construction work had rendered me stranded.

I now have to seek out the wolves I've been avoiding for the past three days.

It's aggravating and I'm also worried and a bit hesitant.

I haven't seen a full pack in years.

Five to be exact.

I left my pack at the age of thirty and now I'm thirty-five.     

'Why are they building in the snow, even?' I wondered to myself, biting and licking my lips to give it much needed moisture.

Dry winters were the worst and that was Canadian weather for you, dry and cold.

It would be completely unbearable to travel on foot if I couldn't change into a wolf.

I started to slow down my steps.

The scent of the pack was becoming stronger and I was beginning to have second thoughts.

I could always find a cave in the woods to spend the night.

I'm comfortable with my wolf form and I could spend a few days, even weeks wandering about as a wolf and it wouldn't be a problem. 

A sigh left my lips as I came to a stop at the beginning of a path down to a clearing.

I scratched my full beard as my ice blue eyes focused on the cabins arced around a courtyard in the distance.

I thought about turning back but I shook my head and discarded the thought.

If the pack had Epsilon wolves, they would have already sniffed me out by now.

The pack was waiting for me to walk up to the center, I could feel.   

With a deep breath as I started making my way down the path and into the clearing.

As I walked into their territory I saw werewolves in both their human and wolf forms appear from the shadows.

Parents with children, caretakers with the aged and high ranked officials at the porch of the building in the center.

I continued to walk forward lowering my head to show that I wasn't here as a treat.     

It didn't matter, the men and women on the porch gnashed their teeth and growled at me, putting their fangs on display.

I'm sure to everyone within a visible distance I was just a rouge.

They wouldn't know I had been a headhunter at my former pack, a Kappa and they wouldn't know that I had left willingly for personal reasons.

Of course, they wouldn't know that, how would they? 

I licked my lips again, not because of the dry air but to show submission as I raised my head.

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to talk so I just looked from side to side, taking in the people that had formed a small open circle around me.

Apart from being a rogue, I'm sure I looked foreign.

I stuck out like a sore thumb with my blue eyes, pale skin and blonde hair in the sea of dark-haired bronze-skinned people.

Peace River had a high 'First Nation' population and I think I've stumbled into a community of them.     

"Well," the man at the center of the group on the porch spoke up as he stepped forward.

He rested his hands on the railings, squinting at me as he observed me with a half curious, half annoyed look.

"What do you want?" he asked.     

"There's a construction project going on up north," I started, watching as the curiosity of the pack members seemed to grow.

I wasn't sure if it was my mention of the construction or if it was my accent.

Everyone seemed to pinpoint that it was Russian whenever I spoke up.

"I can't travel with that little vegetation to hide in and that many humans walking about," I added, hoping they understood why I had come to them.     

"You want shelter?" the woman beside the man said and I nodded.

She looked away from me, leaning into the man so that she could whisper into his ear.

'I could smell them. Yes, them.'

They were mates and just looking at them made my chest sting with jealousy.

This was one of the reasons I avoided other wolves.

Looking from left to right you could always spot mates and to see that every day was just a reminder that I didn't have one. 

It wasn't that I was yet to find my mate.

I just didn't have one at all.

I started to get worried when some of my friends found their mates in their mid-teenage years but I had waited until I turned eighteen to put a name to that empty feeling in my chest.

People could find their mates as early as they turned but it usually took time for mates to cross paths.

At eighteen you feel a pull, making the chance for mates to bump into each other more likely but at eighteen I hadn't felt anything.

My spirit felt empty and my wolf grew agitated.

Talking to an elder helped me clear things up but my worries had been confirmed to realities.     

I didn't have a mate, my mate probably died during childbirth or an age before three.

They didn't exist and I was left yearning for a wholeness that would never materialize as reality.     

"How long do you plan to stay here?" the woman asked, turning back to me.

I opened my mouth but closed it again when I realized it would be wouldn't be wise giving dates.

I wasn't sure when the construction would end.     

"When the construction work is over or on pause," I answered instead and the she-wolf gave me a small smile before turning back to her mate.

The man's expression seemed to soften when she nudged him and I made a mental note to thank the woman for persuading her mate to consider my stay.     

"Okay," the man said, and just like that, the crowd started to thin out.

I looked about, wondering where to go but remained still when I saw one of the men on the porch raise up his hand.     

"We'll get someone to show you where you'll stay," he said, looking behind him to talk to the lady that had just walked out of the pack house.

In the bustle and hustle, a stench hit my nose.

I was at first irritated by how strong it was but my mouth started to water with interest... lust?

I started sniffing around and the noise around me faded as my eyes went back to the pack-house entrance and narrowed down on the long-haired man that walked through it.

I swallowed down spit in surprise at how my heart was beating and at how dazed I was feeling.     

He was simply beautiful or maybe it was just his pheromones confusing me.     

'Who lets a wolf in heat just walk around like that?' I wondered, watching as the man slipped through the crowd and walked down the stairs.

He looked young and unlike many of the people here, no one was clinging to him and I couldn't spot a possible mate.

He was tall, lean and had a sweet aura around him. 

My wolf stirred, he wanted him... I wanted him.      

I forced myself to look away but that didn't last long and soon I was searching the clearing for the man again.

From his sweet smell and his alluring pheromones, I could tell he was an omega or at least some sort of subordinate.

My eyes found the man again and I rose a brow in interest, as I watched him squat by a toddler, before hugging the child and picking him up.     

The child laughed a bit, pulling at the man's long hair, before he was stopped.

"Daddy?" the child's voice was small but I picked it up and my stomach sank.   

The man had a child, which meant he probably had a mate.     

'Of course, what was I thinking?'

The little interest and hope that had been stirring in me died.

It seemed he noticed me staring, since he turned over to me and our eyes locked for a brief moment, before I looked away out of nervousness.

I didn't want anyone's mate harassing me and I just got here, so it was better I didn't get into trouble.     

The man and his child disappeared into the pack-house soon after and I waited in the courtyard, until someone came out to usher me in.

When I had followed the pack scent to their settlement I had expected to be anxious because I would have to deal with other werewolves but my mind wasn't on the crowd of people I kept walking past and having to talk to.

My mind was still on the man, I could smell him, his scent was littered everywhere.

From the furnishing to the rugs and stray items on the table like pens and notebooks.

He probably did a lot of housework.

I wanted to ask about him but I didn't know what to say and where the line for asking questions was drawn.

My wolf kept stirring and my heart kept beating at an irregular fast pace.     

'Gosh,' I sighed, rubbing my eyes before asking for a glass of water.

I tried to think of other things but my mind kept wandering back to the man and I hated myself for it.

Apart from the fact that he must think I'm some horny creep, the person that was mated to him, would probably kill me if they caught me ogling.

He wasn't mine, I had no one.     

It's been seventeen years since I realized this but it was still a hard pill to swallow.

BATTALION BREAKDOWN

Alright y'all, here it is, my breakdown of what I think a GAR battalion SHOULD look like. Full disclaimer before we get into it: I tried to research this stuff on wookiepedia as best I could but 1. there wasn't a ton of information out there on some of the things I had questions about and 2. some of it just makes No Sense when you put it together, so a lot of these numbers were made up by me and what I thought made sense based on what we see in the show and just simple logic. Feel free to accept/ignore parts as you please! Also, I'm gonna try to explain the rationale behind certain things as I go along but if you have any questions about this, you can send an ask/reply/reblog this post with your question and I'll do my best to answer it :)

Now that all that's out of the way, here's all the actual info beneath the cut.

Basic Organization

Essentially, the GAR breaks down into four tiers at this level: battalions, companies, platoons, and squads.

Battalions are the largest groups with 576* members and are all numbered, such as the 501st, 212th, 104th, etc. The only exceptions to the numbering convention are the Rancor Battalion that guards Kamino and the Coruscant Guard. Personally I believe that both of these should be double, if not triple, the size of a regular battalion, which could potentially explain the difference in names. Battalions are led by a clone commander and Jedi general + a padawan commander if the Jedi has one. 4 companies make a battalion.

Companies consist of 144 members and are all named. Using the 501st for example, this would be Torrent, Tide, Wave, and Typhoon. Note: Torrent, Tide, and Wave are canon/widely accepted fanon, but Typhoon is something me and my friends came up with. You're welcome to use the name as the fourth 501st company in your wips if you want! The names don't have to be related, but my guess would be that they often are. Companies are led by a captain.** 4 platoons make a company.

Platoons consist of 36 members and are simply referred to as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th platoon under their company. Platoons are led by a Lieutenant. 4 squads make a platoon.

Squads consist of 9 members and are named. I don't have names for any 501st squads unfortunately, which is why those spaces are left blank in the picture. As a content creator, you'd have a LOT of freedom when it comes to these because there's so many within a battalion and it seems like they can be named just about anything. Squads are led by a sergeant.

**One problem people tend to have with this is that Rex is a captain, and yet he seems to be in command of all of the 501st. I think most people have figured this out already but the clone wars writers really just threw names around willy-nilly when it came to all the military stuff. Rex should by all intents and purposes be a commander, and my personal in-universe explanation for this is that while he was skilled enough to go through ARC/command track training, he wasn't originally meant to be a commander and his CT number is what barred him from the title initially. Keeli would be another example of this.

A few comparisons just to illustrate it a bit better:

1 battalion = 4 companies = 16 platoons = 64 squads = 576 members

1 company = 4 platoons = 16 squads = 144 members

1 platoon = 4 squads = 36 members

1 squad = 9 members

Please note that these numbers do not include the officers. There would be 64 sergeants, 16 lieutenants, 4 captains, and a commander added to this number to make a total of 661 clones in any given battalion.

Now I could have just stopped here but I have a tendency to want to get way too specific in my wips so I went a little further:

Internal Battalion Assignments

To make the numbers a bit easier, this just looks at what would be found in one company, you can do the extra math if you want to know the full battalion numbers.

I tried my best to remember what kind of specialized troops showed up in the show since wookiepedia wasn't much help, and I ended up breaking these assignments down into medics, heavy gunners, ARF and tank operators, scouts, tech specialists, and standard infantry.

Medics total 16* within a company, one for each squad. Within the medical corps, they're further broken down into junior medical officers (JMO), medical officers (MO), senior medical officers (SMO), and the chief medical officer of the battalion (CMO). Any internal promotions would probably come from the CMO, maybe a SMO on occasion. When pertaining to medical issues, they do often outrank any other officer, but in combat, JMOs and MOs only hold the rank of private (underneath sergeant) and SMOs and the CMO hold the rank of major (between sergeant and lieutenant).

Heavy gunners total 16 within a company, again one for each squad. These are the clones who have been trained to use the Z-6 rotary blaster, like Hardcase and Hevy.

ARFs and other tank operators total one platoons-worth spread throughout a company, or 36 members. ARF troopers are the ones who drive the AT-RTs (the really bouncy walkers you can see used on Ryloth and Umbara) and other tank operators encompass, well, the operators of all the other ground vehicles we see used. The ratio of each of these seems like it could be fluid based on the needs of the battalion and their mission, so I didn't go too much further into this.

Scouts total two squads-worth spread throughout a company, or 16 members. To me it makes sense that one of the lieutenants within their company would specifically deal with their recon reports, simply because it's more organized and practical.

Tech specialists total one squads-worth spread throughout a company, or 9 members. Honestly this is where I grouped anything else left over, like the bomb squad members we see in the blue shadow virus episode, any slicers, etc.

Standard infantry totals the remaining 49 members in a battalion. They're strictly the fighting force on the ground. This doesn't mean that they're the only ones who do the actual fighting, just that they aren't specifically trained for any other specialization.

*These numbers and the subsequent numbers in this section were not taken from any canon source. They were calculated simply by what I thought would make sense to have.

LAAT/is and Starfighters

Again, I tend to be way too specific in my wips so not only did I go through all of the ground fighting force, but I started figuring out the some of the space forces attached to a battalion as well. This doesn't go into a ton about the Republic Navy because frankly, as soon as I read "7400 crew members on a star destroyer" I exited out of that tab cause that's a little Too Much to try to figure out, but I will cover how I think the gunships and fighter squadrons should work.

LAAT/is (gunships) total 48 per battalion, or 12 per company. However, two per company are usually held in reserve to make sure there's always something available for easy transport to/from the ground. This brings down the number to 40 per battalion, or 10 per company. Gunships take two people to man, so the total number of those pilots for a battalion is 96, or 24 for a company. There's also room for two gunners, which would bring the battalion total to 192, but from what I remember in the show the side guns rarely have someone in them, so I don't think the full 96 LAAT/i gunner positions would be filled. I also think the LAAT/i gunners could be temporarily reassigned from the main star destroyer crew (because 7400 is a LOT, they can spare 96). Wookiepedia said that the gunships could hold 30 troops for transport, but that seems like it'd be really cramped quarters. My guess is that each one would hold somewhere between 14-17 comfortably depending on how many people need transport and how many gunships are in use, which is what I kept in mind to come up with the original number of 48 for a battalion.

The Starfighter Corps consist of 5 separate squadrons, the standard* being two squadrons of Y-wings, one squadron of V-19 Torrents, one squadron of Z-95 Headhunters, and one squadron of ARC-170s. There are 12 in a squadron, plus a squad leader and two usually in reserve, so that's 15 total ships in a squadron and 75 total ships overall. Y-wings require a pilot and a gunner, so the total number of members in a battalion's starfighter corps equals 105. However, I believe some battalions could have up to double** these numbers if they're frequently in space battles, like Anakin and the 501st, or if they have a name that suggests it, like the 327th Star Corps. Squadrons seem to often be named after colors, but that isn't always the case, ie. Shadow Squadron.

*This standard isn't canon, it's just what I believe makes sense based on the number of ships types available and how frequently they are seen used in the show. The Y-wing bombers seem to be used a bit more than the rest, which is why I think there would be two squadrons of them.

**While double the number of ships is certainly possible, I figure it's more common to have three more squadrons instead of the full five so there would be two squadrons of each type of ship.

That's all I got! Like I said earlier, use whatever you like, ignore the parts you don't, it doesn't really matter to me. This system is definitely what I'm going to follow in my wips if anyone is ever curious about what's going on with those.

honestly, i have no idea. and the thing is too that it's strange bc it feels kinda weird/unnerving that nobody's died yet in vnc, but i went back to check, & the first major death of ph doesn't actually happen until chapter 59.

obviously, Concerning initially bc chapter 57 will be the next chapter of vnc, but bare in mind, that first death of ph came with an arc that lasted quite a while. & was the arc that was meant to finish off the setup for ph's true story, with that death being the final catalyst to truly set it all into motion.

while the most recent arc of vnc has definitely felt like a setup for more major components in vnc's true story, and had a lot of similar energy to ph's headhunter arc, idk if we're necessarily at a similar point to ph's headhunter arc by now. i don't believe every piece is set into place just yet. i feel like one or two pieces still need to be set on the board.

that all being said, i dont think we're actually gonna be able to predict the first death in vnc, so i haven't really put that much thought into it. it's either going to happen as slowly yet surely as the first death in ph did, or it will be a total shock that very suddenly puts everything into motion. it also could be Anyone, really.

if i Had to guess, i really feel like misha's a high contender still. im still kinda in shock he survived the amusement park arc tbh, & his death would cause a lot of conflicting emotions for both vanitas & noe. so it'd be an interesting motive going forward.

but, like, i genuinely have no solid clue. i'm just waiting for mochijun to pull the rug out from under me lol.

also I'm still not fully on-board with the unravel storytelling system, and I think sometimes information arrives too late to be satisfying (not to mention some small details that drag on and add, not much?), but hell when it works, it works huh. That's why the headhunter arc is my favorite (so far), it pulls it off rather well and it's super self-contained. I see why people like elliot and leo so much lol I guess they're the easiest to approach. Absolutely heart-wrenching, that.

for kakashi and karin soulmate fic, i would like to submit a couple options for burning down grass. he has that big whirlpool versus zabuza, and he pulls out water dragon during filler arcs, and lightning chidori is his signature. he probably has a bunch of absolutely devastating lightning/water combo attacks that just Fry Everything or use little drops of water that shock you to death. Or he could summon some kind of ground storm with ball lightning. Or he could just use explosive tags i guess

yeah, those are all options. he's also likely quite good at earth jutsu, given his headhunter technique, and you don't even have to be that good with fire jutsu to make a lot of it! plus the man has over a thousand jutsu copied or whatever lol. i'm sure he can figure something out. i think what he'd do exactly relies on a few factors:

1. How pissed off is he? This depends entirely on what Karin says to him when he goes to grab her. Kakashi is a very strategic shinobi, so I can see him doing SOME collateral damage as a distraction or to cover up his true motives for being in Grass, but I think he'd have to be pretty upset to jump to BURN THE WHOLE PLACE DOWN.

2. How upset is Karin going to be? We never really see how Karin feels about her old village (does she hate all of them? did she feel any loyalty?), so it's possible that Kakashi razing her village might... really upset her. I don't think he'd want to cause her emotional distress during what is ostensibly a rescue mission, so whatever exchange they have needs to either indicate that Karin agrees the whole village should go down, or he does something very sneaky-but-devastating without her knowledge.

3. What is the natural terrain of Grass? Because Kakashi is not a chakra powerhouse and has relatively low stamina (according to himself... although I suspect he's comparing himself to other top-tier shinobi), I've always imagined his fights as either being very quick (get, stab a raikiri through the big bad's heart, get out ASAP) or him screwing around with low-chakra techniques in a way to exhaust his opponent (the Waste His Time strategy) and THEN going in and stabbing them with a raikiri. What was the point of that very long sentence? I don't think Kakashi could or would summon a water dragon unless Grass already had a lot of water to work with. What he does is probably highly dependent on what he was to work with: could he make a rockslide? Are the buildings constructed in a particularly flammable way? If he can only do so much, where does he place the exploding tags to make the most impact?

4. Is Karin with him or does he leave her somewhere for safety and go back? Whether or not he's simultaneously babysitting an Academy student is going to affect his decision making. If he leaves her and goes back, he can probably whip out some more dangerous techniques, but he's more likely to have his rage subside enough to go "wait this is a bad idea." Personally, I like the idea of him Frying Everything while she's clinging to his back going AAAAAAH

At first, I was just "ooooh spy need trenchcoat!!!" and...yeah. I found the mask and fell in love with it on him, so I built the rest of the outfit around it and wanting that type of jacket for him (imagine my glee when I discovered the Taskmaster's set haha). It's changed a lot in the time I've played Xaerez, but I'm finally pretty dang happy with it.

The mask is because he doesn't like to show his face. Most of his outfits incorporate some kind of mask into them, but this style is what he wears most often. The rest was just building off a stereotypical suave spy aesthetic, and ended up working really well for him!

While this one shares almost all the same pieces as his main outfits (only head and chest pieces are different), I still wanted to go for the "professional" look that his casual main one just doesn't offer.

While not something he'd wear often, it achieves its goal and he'll wear it when he needs others to respect him or know he's someone important without having to say it. For Outlander!Xaerez, it's actually what he wore for meeting with Acina in Run for the Shadows. While he doesn't care to dress professionally, it's good for when he needs to.

Can't say too much about this one, yet, but during the Oricon arc he was temporarily corrupted/brainwashed by the Dread Masters. This was what he wore while in their ranks.

During all of the arcs, what were the background members of the dream smp doing? (Callahan, Alyssa, etc) Like did they hide, run, didn't participate, banged their head when the hermits stormed in because there's a lot of work if they were a moderator? And also, I'm pretty sure the second Xisuma heard about the moderators he went on some sort of headhunt, since moderators usually side with with the admin but there seems to be none siding with Dream. Unless moderators don't exist in this au.

Most of the mods tried to remain neutral, knowing that moderators should side with the Admin, but also knowing that as adults they should try to support the children as best they can. Unfortunately, that means supporting from behind.

The rest remained neutral not because of a sense of duty but due to fear of what would happen if they picked a side.

Xisuma did go looking for the mods! He went around and looked for them, trying to figure out their stances. They basically just go ‘look you being here puts me in danger I’m walking a very fine line between both sides please leave’.
