On "friendly competition."

One place I do think Dawntrail fumbled the ball (and I have a few, though I did love it overall) is I still feel like the setup for the Scions working for opposing claimants was too glib. I know a lot of people loved that scene in 6.55 because Thancred and Urianger, and yes, they're great together and have fun chemistry. But once you know what they're actually talking about it does leave a bad taste in my mouth. They (and the other Scions when they find out) are effectively treating the governance of a sovereign nation, something that will have longstanding political ramifications and affect the lives of a lot of people, as a game where they get to spar with their friends.

The Scions have witnessed firsthand the damage and upheaval that power shifts can entail, and none of them really know that much about the situation in Tural before arriving there; they can't know that it's going to be a smooth transition with no unrest or bloodshed. (And guess what! it isn't!) Thancred, Alphinaud, and the Warrior of Light especially know this, as they were all at that banquet, and latter two also got to witness a major power shift in Ishgard and everything that came with that. They all saw Garlemald, and the twins especially have spent a lot of time there. And then there's, you know, (gestures to the entirety of Stormblood). Urianger may not have been present for a lot of these events directly, but he knows what happened and he's seen the impact on his closest friends.

The Scions understand that politics aren't a low-stakes game, is what I'm saying. They have to know that things have the potential to go very wrong here, and that this "friendly competition" could turn anything but. We know now that Koana and Wuk Lamat care too much about one another to turn on each other directly, but there's no way any of the Scions could have been sure of that at the time, and it also doesn't account for the actions of the other two claimants, which the Scions definitely could not have predicted.

So I think this is a place where the "We're all going on a fun vacation" vibe of the lead-up to Dawntrail does take away from the story a bit. I personally enjoyed the tone shift at the midpoint, and had been pretty sure something like that was going to happen, but I think maybe some minor writing adjustments could have made the setup work a little better. The obvious fix is like, just don't have Thancred and Urianger know that others are working for Wuk Lamat. The Scions are officially disbanded, they may not all be sharing their plans, no one expected Estinien to show up in Tural either, so whatever, we can suspend our disbelief. The other option would be to give the Thancred and Urianger scene a more serious tone, while still keeping the details vague, but that might've stepped on the overall tone they were going for with DT's marketing (though I don't know that it would've been any more of a giveaway than showing the cyberpunk areas ahead of time).

It's a small thing; I imagine it probably didn't bother a lot of people at at all, and it certainly didn't ruin the experience for me! But it is one thing that felt off to me and which I'd probably rewrite a little if I ever want to do anything with it.

I could make sense of this rambling! Actually it's more or less what I had in mind while writing the original post. I'm autistic so I often miss the fact that people are attracted to me + sometimes things have different meanings for me than for most of people (e.g. lately I said something that made someone think that I want to be romantically involved with them, they rejected me, things got extremely weird and I did my best to explain to them my true feelings but I'm still anxious that they might think that I lied to save face) and I'm aromantic. So I get what you mean with that unreasonable feeling of being violated. Philiph had started to lose definition, mainly in his abs, his arms looked spectacular but Andrew knew that Philip's muscles were already accumulating fat and soon they wouldn't look like this. In addition, his vision became blurred, it was strange, he felt scarred and weaker, even his appetite increased.

Third week (183 lbs)

He thought he was getting stronger lifting the weights more easily, little did he know that Andrew had planned everything well, actually Philip was decreasing the weight he was carrying no matter the size of the discs or the number written on the dumbbells, Andrew had in charge of everything The shake contained a drug that would make Philip tired quickly and keep him in a sleepy state so that he wouldn't notice the change in his body for a few months, when it would be too late to do anything about it.

First month (225 lbs)

For Andrew it became an easy task, it was rather erotic seeing the handsome jock go to the pot and turn into a pig ruining his perfect body. While Philip worked out, Andrew watched with satisfaction at the flab on the pretty boy's body, his previously firm and formidable pecs bouncing with every movement, where his six pack used to be just a flaccid roll of fat hung. Meanwhile Philip noticed that every time he looked in the mirror his vision was blurry, he felt heavy but he couldn't understand the number on the scale, maybe he was just more muscular, that should be it.

Second month (255 lbs)

The supplement had certainly done its job, Philip had lost all muscle tone now it was time to make him grow, the supplement would give him a voracious appetite, and David would take it upon himself to sabotage the pretty boy's diet, also at the end of the "treatment "Philip's metabolism would be so slow that he would never be able to lose the accumulated weight.

Those days David wanted to join in and fuck his rival a bit, so I gave Philip an "energy drink" full of the drug, he was so confused that he didn't notice that David was the one giving him the instructions.

Philip was really losing condition, running out of breath after a few minutes.

Three months later (290lbs)

Philip's pecs had already turned into moobs hanging over his new belly and Philip seemed unaware he was still drinking the shakes. Andrew suggested four jugs of the supplement per day, Philip obeyed his trainer without question.

In the mornings he was too hungry, he showered and dressed but never knew what he looked like, it was as if every time Philip tried to see his body or how much he weighed, his vision would blur and he would start to feel tired and sleepy, the only clue about his appearance were comments and compliments from Andrew about how strong he looked, he said he had never seen progress equal to his.

Andrew trained David after Philip's session ended, so he could see his rival's progress as he worked on improving his own physique while Philip's body was being ruined.

Seven months later (340 lbs)

Philip could no longer lift any weight weeks ago he struggled and almost passed out from the effort trying to lift dumbbells. There was nothing left, not a trace of the handsome and athletic stud he once was.

"Wow, I've progressed, but how many pounds have you put on this Andrew?" Philip asked naively still thinking that he was the same sexy guy who arrived seven months ago.

The handsome trainer just smiled, it was obvious that Philip was still affected by the supplement, he seemed more confused and clumsy than in the previous months.

Second week of the ninth month (410 lbs)

Finally, Philip woke up from the dream, that morning before going to the gym, he decided to try one more time to see himself in front of the mirror but this time he could see clearly.

Every trace of muscle he had left was gone. His abs had disappeared under a huge layer of fat, he could see nothing but rolls and rolls of fat around him, the huge belly hanging down. His belly rested on his thighs like a pale gelatinous mass, it was also covered in red stretch marks. that covered his round navel. He tempted his fingers over the gelatinous mass horrified to see what his enviable abs had become.

Philip watched in horror as his stomach lurched. He wanted to cry and scream, but then he looked at his thighs. They seemed bigger and softer, so much so that they clung together in huge fatty folds making his long legs look short.

His arms, the bulging veins and defined muscles that were his pride, were just pure fat, his biceps were gone and where his muscles used to be, the skin hung like misshapen folds that hung from being too flaccid to meet his lats well. , joining the part where their bibs used to be.

His big pectoral muscles were ruined, they were nothing more than oversized and greasy tits, they hung like two flaccid bags that were only supported by his flabby belly which was so big that it kept the new moobs of the once hot stud in place.

Desperately, Philip reached for the scale and climbed up, the little machine creaking and breaking under his weight, the dial marking random numbers until it went blank. Then, with a fluttering heart, he ran out of the apartment.

Before leaving he saw a note, he had been fired, hadn't been to the office in months, didn't even remember getting any calls, but no job, how come the rent was paid? Food? The cupboards were full, well maybe Andrew could help him.

He arrived at the entrance of the gym without a shirt showing his obese body covered in sweat, he was panting and his face was red from the effort and embarrassment. He had a run in with David on the stairs, it was humiliating, seeing how David made fun of him and Andrew was David's friend? Philip had to get answers. As he could and ashamed of his new body Philip put on his shirt having difficulty doing so.

Upon entering the gym Andrew was ready, preparing a shake in different jars, he only stopped when Philip came snorting.

"Sit down chubby, I think we should talk."

RWBY Reaction Part 1

So! Storytime: When the RT shutdown was announced, I was of course very sad, but I also got anxious, because a very dear friend of mine, @ajelementus had previously expressed the desire to watch RWBY with me, and at the announcement I was worried that we would not be able to, since at the time we didn't know if RWBY would be coming back. So, we found a time, and we marathoned all the way through RWBY over the course of about four days, finishing just ahead of the website deletion. I spent the whole time writing down our reactions, and now, in honor of RWBY being so back (!) I'm releasing them. This will be part 1, covering volumes 1-6. I'll do a second post later with V7-Beyond, and maybe I'll even release the RWBYxJustice League reactions too!

Fruits Basket Sticker Collection (2008) Scans

Fruits Basket (FB) is one of my all time favorite shoujo manga, and I was so excited to get my hands on an unused copy of this sticker book from 2008!

This main trio makes me so nostalgic. And the Tokyopop logo is SO iconic.

I've always been more of a digital consumer of manga, so I initially read Fruits Basket entirely online from fan-made and fan-translated scans.

I have very fond memories of coming home from school every night and logging onto the family computer to binge as many chapters of FB as I could before dinner. One day my dad gave me his old laptop, since I was the one mostly hogging the family computer.

I was SO excited.

I immediately made my background Shigure themed.

I liked Shigure a lot since he was the year of the dog, just like me.

And you bet I spent all my free time on my clunky early 2000s hand-me-down laptop binging the FB manga, watching the FB anime (in three parts on YouTube, of course), and consuming every FB fanfic and fanart I could find online.

All that to say, this manga holds a special place in my heart. I find myself going back every couple of years and re-reading it.

It truly is such a quintessential y2k shoujo experience.

Even though this book is titled as a sticker book, it contains more than stickers. As seen in the tagline on the front page, this book also includes pin-ups and temporary tattoos.

Not sure why they only have stickers in the title, I guess that's just more of an attention grabber than pin-ups or temporary tattoos would be.

This book has a hard cover and spiral-bound pages. Because of this, it was actually a bit tricky to scan.

I was able to crop out the spiral for most of the pages, as it wouldn't interfere with the overall image of the page, but I did keep it visible on the title page scan.

Every time I tried cropping it for this page, I felt it took too much away from Kyo's portrait.

So I just let it be.

The first part of the book consists of "pin-ups" of Tohru and the Sohma family.

I will say, pin-up is a bit of an odd word to use. I think something like 'mini posters' would've worked as a better descriptor for what is actually inside the book.

I think most Western audiences associate the word "pin-up" with the image of a sexualized or risqué photo.

But in this case, I think it's meant innocently as a picture that can be "pinned up" on a wall...even though that's basically the same reason for the name behind the the sexualized photos...

Either way, it's a bit funny when it's brought up in a PG setting.

Anyways, the pin-up photos in the book are all loose inside clear paper protector sheets. I think it's a neat, thoughtful way to make the pictures safe and accessible.

Ignore the cafalla.com watermark - that was from when I had a .com blog! But it is still me, and this is still my photo lol.

It's a bit hard to tell from the photo, but these pictures are in plastic sheet protectors, and you can slide the paper in and out from the side.

If you wanted to take a specific picture out, you needn't worry about ripping or ruining them while trying to remove them from the book.

So I really appreciate that detail.

Because of this, scanning these pages was an easy experience. The front page of the "pin-up" depicts art of the character from the manga, and the back of the page has a little bio about the character.

As for the Sohma family, they are the same, except they also show a little drawing of their animal form on the back.

The book continues with pages for each member of the Sohma family, plus Akito.

I'm surprised Tohru's friends Arisa and Saki weren't included, as they are also pretty frequently appearing characters...more so than some of the family members.

I really adore that the manga art was used for this whole book. The original anime has that early 2000s charm, but I much prefer the manga artwork for this series.

We're going to see a lot of it with the stickers and temporary tattoos, which follow the pin-up photos.

I'm not sure why, but all the sticker and temporary tattoo pages have a similar layout (which you will see), with the exception of this one sticker page.

Not sure why this one page has a cell phone theme and TONS of tiny stickers, but it's cute!

Again, this was a page where it was hard to cut out the spiral without cutting off parts of the stickers located close to it. So I left it in the scan.

And like I said, I love that this is all artwork from the manga.

My favorite is the group sticker on the green sheet, where Tohru is wearing the red plaid skirt.

I vividly remember that chapter spread because I adored her outfit. Black, red, and plaid aren't really colors/patterns Tohru wears, and I think they compliment her so much. I also adored how all the boys' outfits matched the same color scheme and aesthetic.

There’s something isolating about being a third, about being the one left out of the loop. Audrey had known this feeling for years. It started when two sets of handwriting appeared along her arms. A triad soulmate pairing was seen as wrong, as a misalignment. When it became clear that the others were from the Isle, well of course they couldn’t be her soulmates.

Time went on. Audrey never wrote on her arms. Never even showed them. That wasn’t particularly unusual for royals of course, so she had an excuse. But when Ben showed his and it clearly wasn’t her handwriting. Well. There isn’t much to say.

It had become increasingly obvious that her soulmates knew each other, that they were in love with each other. Declarations of love covered her arms. Flowering words of devotion were as common as air. It was due to said words that she recognized her first soulmate.

Uma’s arms were bare in her dress. Her love clear as she spoke of being invited over for the betterment of the Isle, her pretty lies caught Audrey’s attention even over the radio where she first heard her. She had been truly entranced by the smooth voice. It was only when Chad showed her the video that she knew.

Harry was obvious. If his constant bare arms didn’t tell her then his unwavering love for Uma did. He sought her out like a turtle to the sea, an instinct that never steered him wrong. She wondered what it would feel like to be loved like that. To be loved and treasured above all else. To have someone’s undying loyalty.

But alas, she knew she could never have it. It wasn’t her place to be loved. She was a prize, a pawn, a royal. Nothing more. Nothing less. So she avoided them. Never attending any VK events or diplomatic meetings which might hold them. She hardly even reached out to any of her friends, if you could even call them that anymore, out of fear that either of the two would be near. If she was so drawn, so curious, from just videos who knows what she would do when she met them. No, it was far safer for her to stay away.

This policy worked until Ben forced her hand, if she didn’t attend this event she would be ostracized from high society, seen as untrustworthy and forever outcast from her old friends. So attend she did.

It was a darling holiday party, supposedly it was a gala but party suited the event much better. The VKs made sure of that. Drinks, noise, and laughter abound through the hall. Joy and playfulness echoed in the space, tangible in every breath. She was so distracted she hadn’t noticed until it was too late that she was bumping into someone.

Audrey had been stepping out of a conversation when she had stepped directly into one Gil LeGume’s way.

Bump and Splash.

“Woah, You good?”

“Does it look like I’m good? Oh this is going to stain and ruin everything.”

“Here let me help get that jacket off.”

“No, I don’t need your help.” Audrey protested, but the damage had already been done. Her jacket had fallen off her upper arm, showing words that Gil knew in a heartbeat.

“Well hey, those are Uma and Harry’s words.”

Ben, who had seen the initial bump and was making his way over, stopped in his tracks. ‘It couldn’t be, could it?’ Getting over himself, he finished making his way over to the pair who were now arguing over whether or not to go meet and show Uma. It was only due to his presence that Audrey gave in.

Uma met Audrey with distrust in her eyes. Harry even more so. It was weeks later before they learned enough of why she hid, before they trusted her. A few months before they welcomed her into their relationship. It wasn’t a fairytale ending, they had disagreements and fights, but who said soulmates had to be perfect. They just had to be right. And they were.

This Pecco-Alex thingy has kinda reminded me of when that Italian (?) journalist said it was Marc's fault that Jason, Hugo and Dean had died in 2021 and it makes me maaad. The hate they both get is ridiculous and they fact that there are death threats being sent their way while we have 2 races and a test there doesn't make me happy at all. Do I thing anyone would be crazy to do anything? I surely hope not, but then again you can't predict what crazy people will do. According to some journalist there is already an anti-marquez sector at Ducati planting things for the press (how believable is this, I don't know, but considering people are saying Aragón was rigged for Marc to win...)

I think I'm here in the side that Pecco had every right to be upset after his race was ruined BUT should have dealt with it better and measured his words and that Alex (if everything happened as it has been told) shouldn't have told Pecco to fuck off and instead explain that he preferred to talk when they both had calmed down AND in private.

But the way this all goes back to 2018,really. Because yeah, Marc hasn't been the cleanest always and he has done unsportsmanlike and questionable shit, but Alex has always been pretty clean and level-haded and it's not fair that the way people view Marc paints the way they view Alex. It upsets me when people say he only got his ride because of Marc, forgetting that he has more championships that half the grid (the only ones who have more are Pecco and Marc, while Pedro, Zarco and Joan also have 2 and the other ones either have one or have none).

Yes I remember that, the Marc being responsible for those death, and honestly I thought it was just anti-Marc shite. True that Marc IS a very aggressive rider, but so does Brad and Pedro. Even Vale was an aggressive rider, so you can't just blame 1 rider. The blame is on the system that 1) allowed riders that young come through the ladder, and fortunately got 2 years delay now (although for like 2 years allowed very unprepared riders to go straight to Moto3 to avoid having to wait 2 years (re: David Muñoz to say one) and 2) a system where no penalty was really applied for those behaviors. In some ways it was even rewarded with media content for the fans.

About the anti-Márquez, I'm truly sad for Álex. He did nothing to deserve this except be Marc's brother. He didn't deserve it in 2015, and he doesn't deserve it now. I'm very sure that if it had been any other rider except Álex and Marc, Pecco wouldn't have said that, because as much as he seems okay with Marc as his teammate next year, he hates it. He hates it because it's Marc, so he has to play nice, but he also wants to show who is in control of the game, and honestly if Pecco is doing this now, it shows how afraid he is. Also MArc will eat him alive. Marc is like a beast, in the moment he's cornered he shows his worst-self, and now that he has the experience of 2015, Pecco is nothing.

Also Ducati rigged it for Marc? Bullshit. Marc was untouchable. No other Ducati could get close to him, and if was something rigged, they would had been closer. Also Acosta was there too, which means it was more dependent on rider stuff than bike itself (also note that when the bike is not as an important factor some Ducatis just disappear).

Okay Pecco's race wasn't ruined, he ruined it himself since Friday. Pecco cut that line that way (which he's entittled to do, but it was irresponsable and dirty racing) because he was frustrated. He was just a kid throwing a tantrum because he didn't get what he wanted. So he acted entittled Ulike always) and drove in a dangerous way. They made contact, which is what made Álex lose the bike, the one that could have prevented that first contact was Pecco, but then he keep going and cut even more the like. If Álex hadn't lost the bike, by trajectories, they would had crashed. Pecco like always expected that another rider moved away to give him the space. And this is something I hate. The more closer to the 1st MotoGP tittle the more entitle he got and now he believes no one can touch him or race him. He had a bad Friday, and when that happens he gest lost in his mind, starts blaming everyone and then does rookies mistakes and blames everyone and their mother, and the worst part is that he never learns.

He's right to be upset, but he wasn't. Pecco is a master manipulator. He took the time, and choose to blame Álex, who honestly is one of the cleanest riders. He choose Álex because he can't go after Marc because he has Ducati protection, but not Álex. He choose Álex because this way he would hurt Marc. He's trying to play 5-D chest with Marc, and unfortunately Álex is just a pawn in his game.

Anon I don't now what you heard, but they did talk. And Álex didn't talk with the media after he talked with Pecco (at least to the Spanish media). Pecco is the one who jumped the gun, like always, to control the narrative (at this rate it seems I'm a Pecco anti, but this guy is fucking annoying and the media and some people eat from his hand).

This doesn't go just to 2018. This goes back to 2015. Do you really think that Vale is happy to have a protegée paired against Marc. No he doesn't, but he doesn't have the control over Ducati. Cash Buckzo is clearly not any sort of loving parents towards Blitz not above manipulating them as a small child using his Mother against him just to get what they wanted from Blitz. It's pretty telling that even as a small child Blitz wouldn't do just anything for his Dad but can be swayed by the mere mention of his mother. Blitz clearly has no real hang ups when it comes to father he seems happy to drop them and forget them especially since Cash was clearly the reason he never got to speak to Fizz again and he's not phased at all to see him being a reason for that. Blitz dose clearly wish to be a much better father himself. And maybe be why despite Loona's age he treats her how he dose.

I feel it's also a part of what makes him like Stolas a lot, he can tell Stolas is a caring father. When they got trapped in the van together and Stolas was worrying about Via? Yeah course that's important to him.

Blitz clearly has a real sore spot when it comes to his mother. She was already his weakness as a kid he would do anything if he felt it would help his mom. She seemed the type in indulge her kids in their talents like Blitz love to draw despite being bad at it he still dose it even being aware he is in fact bad at it but it makes him happy and if anything makes him think of her. Though the fire wasn't truly his fault just a freak accident it was the worse day of his life. His family fell apart because like he stated in the very first episode, losing a mother ruins a family. And Blitz blames everything on himself, he's the reason he lost his mother after all and he is the reason he no longer has his sister in his life either. Still can't say the loss of his dad means that much to him but thats a pain he's dealt with forever.

His mother clearly holds a special place in his heart seeing how he keeps the skull oddment she once wore around her own neck. Not to mention the sight of his mother in a photo can send his emptions over the edge. And him feeling he caused him to lose his mother really just seeped into any other possible relationship he might find himself in.

Blitz has a twin sister Barbie who he was once close to even having a twin act along with his sister when he got a bit older. Likely happening once Fizz gained more popularirty seeing how the pair of them used to be a duo. Blitz and Barbie instead became an act together and clearly Babrie also was a very talent act carrying her brother in their shows. Which as young kids likely didn't bug her at first but I feel over time? did start to impact her feeling held back by her brother when she could be more on par with Fizz if not for Blitz. But thats her brother after all. Untill the fire which took away any chance she had from her, took her own mother away as well. I feel barbie stayed in touched with her father and likely let him help her try and book some gigs for a time. But that would lead her down a bad path of addiction. Blitz dosen't blame Barb for hating his guts if anything eh feels she is right to hate him. But he still tries his best he really dose. Trying to visit her when she was in rehab no matter how often he was kicked out or screamed at by her. In fact? I feel Blitz is the reason she ended up in rehab just adding more to the conflict between them. Blitz trying to be there for the last bit of family he has left. But seen as ruining things for Barb because of the jobs she had that allowed her the drugs she was getting hooked on.

Blair is the last bit of family he has that dosen't hate him or is gone. Blitz often wondering how long ti will take till Blair wises up finally. Well trying his best to hopfully not give her a reason to wisen up so to speak. Blitz however can be a bit overbearing with being protective of Blair. When it comes to who she dates and works not really mattering who it is Blitz is not a fan of anyone sucking on his sisters neck u-u Sorry Blair he cares he just Blitz one day he'll clam down when hes like old XD

Blitz I feel adopted Loona over any other hellhound, because he saw himself in Loona. Loona dose share a lot of traits with Blitz and both coming from these troubling backgrounds being rejected and abandoned? It's like that phase be the adult that child you needed in their life. Blitz however even with Loona still has the hadbit of keeping distance his overbearing and grossly over affection he knows she hates is a good way to keep a bit distance between them. Well still keeping the relationship there, course he fears her leaving as well and likey why he isn't too knee on her dating because she might leave and never come back.

He dose try to parent here but he clearly has no idea what he is doing, not to mention not treating her at the right age she is in. Some part likely has todo with how Hellhounds work he just dosen't treat her as a work hand of sorts. Which maybe be why Loona dose have some softness towards Blitz she just also good at keeping people away and at a distance. Blitz kind of allowing the over aggressive version she goes about it dosen't help but dose create a sort of understanding between them. She wouldn't worry about him if she didn't bother to learn about him she kind of gets the closest look at the mess he is living with him after all.

But first favorite character. Um... Either Spock, Scotty, or Uhura. I really don't know which. Definitely one of those three though.

Character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Yeoman Rand. She was a quickly dropped character from the first season and I don't think she made much of an impression on young me. But older me is well aware of what happened behind the scenes and what her character was meant to be... and honestly I love this character now. Janice is a really sweet, likable woman. She's friends with Sulu, she's patient with a socially stunted teenager with a crush on her, she has this mutual attraction with Kirk that neither act on because they respect each other too much as coworkers to risk ruining that...

She's this complicated and lovely character and the actress who portrayed her deserved so much better than she got. She does show up in the movies, however, so I'm glad that Janice got to have a good career in Starfleet.

(Seriously, though, Janice was supposed to be a pretty major role and what happened to Grace Lee Whitney is appalling.)

Character everyone loves but I don’t:

I don't know that there is one?

Maybe Gary Mitchell? I don't know how well liked he'd be considered, but he's an entitled ass. Not really sure how Kirk was friends with him even pre-psionic powers/a-god-am-I breakdown, because this guy treated women kinda... badly. He set Kirk up with a woman as a distraction attempt while taking Kirk's class at the Academy. Behaved like an entitled asshole when Elizabeth Dehner shot him down - using what I recognize now as some pretty aphobic language. And he was pretty shitty to Spock too.

I would have preferred him to have been the villain played by Cumberbatch than Khan but that's in part because he would have made such a perfect foil to new!Kirk. (And then you don't have to explain why a white guy is playing an Indian character...)

There's also The Companion but if I start talking about that clusterfuck I will probably forget to answer the rest of the questions due to losing my temper over that particular... episode. (It is bad though and I'd happily... well, not happily but I would rant about it if asked.)

Character I love but everyone else hates:

Similarly, I don't know how much Elizabeth Dehner is liked, but I really love her. I read her as aspec and career focused. She gets super powers that have already made someone else (admittedly someone who was already an entitled twit) go all 'a god am I' but she still keeps her compassion. She still recognizes that no, actually, they don't have the right to rewrite reality to suit their whims.

She saves Kirk at the cost of her own life. And I will never forgive new!Trek comics for writing her off as barely a footnote, Bones' ex who won't set foot on the ship because he's there. >_<

Character I used to love but don’t any longer:

I don't know that I've got an answer to this one. All those beloved characters.

Character I would kiss:

No kissing, but I bet Uhura gives the best hugs.

Character I want to slap:

In the Galileo Seven episode I want to slap Bones and a few other minor characters for the way they treat Spock.

A pairing I love:

Kirk/Spock, but I have to admit new Trek had me taken a second look at Spock/Uhura

A pairing I hate:

Hmmm... I don't know? There are a lot of one off ships for Kirk that I'm not fond of for various reasons. Some because he's pretty clearly only manipulating the situation to protect his crew. Some because he's not actually in a position to consent and the power imbalance - memory manipulation/amnesia/external threats - makes the whole thing pretty awful.

Elaan/Kirk is one that very much sticks out because he's literally brainwashed by her tears.

I think why it is so difficult for me to let go of kp is because this truly is my first and last bl. Idk if you remember me, but you used to get a lot of anons on the seedier side of bl industry. That was me. I tried to give bl a chance many many years ago, but certain tropes didn't really sit comfortable with me. Now you might say well the relationships in kp aren't healthy either ( and I am a vp shipper😅) but I felt there was something here that was missing from all those years earlier, and I fell so deeply into the brainrot. And now it is gone and I don't have anything else ( I mean I am sure the other queer love stories are made with just as much care but still...). Nothing.

As someone who spent years deconstructing my love for M&Bs, it is so ironic that some of my favorite bls are Tharntype and Kinnporsche.

To me, I fell in love with Kinnporsche for two reasons.

It was very obvious about its bad behavior. The first thing I saw n the trailer was the main character coming out to SMOKE!!!! and then he fell in love with his rude boss... and then his boss was parading other partners in front of him. Not to mention the hinting at the sexual torture. I was sold. I was ready for a show that wasn't going to pretend to be about fun and love, all the while parading toxic behaviors as good behavior.

I was sold on Porsche being a bad ass. This was something Type from Tharntype gave me a bit of, but I was upset with him sometimes because he was the abuser. I was happy to see the "bottom" character being given a backbone because too many times those characters are made spineless. But that trailer with Porsche gave me hope.

I went in to Kinnporsche expecting these two things and yes, I will admit that they let me down because Porsche became a little spineless and the show tried to portray Kinn's fuckery as good behavior.

But the beauty of it all was that while I didn't get exactly what I wanted, I got other things. I got intruige. I got action sequences in a bl. I got shenanigans. And best of all, I didn't have to spend 90% of the time staring at school uniforms. I cannot explain how much the adultness of this story appeals to me. I love that they weren't children. At least, they tried to make us forget that Porsche, Jom and Tem were in school but that was so fine by me.

And best of all, KINNPORSCHE KILLED EVERY SINGLE SEXUAL SCENE. The kisses, the sex, the handjobs. Oh Lord. they did it better than everyone who came before and anyone who has come after. Even down to that crying scene in the bar where that silly bartender strolled out and ruined the vegaspete moment, anyone can admit that we were hoping for some wall action. And if they'd done it, the show would have killed it.

Right now, I'm judging western sex scenes using Kinnporsche as my metric. Anything less is cringe, as far as I'm concerned.

So yes, Anon. I understand completely. other bls are trying their best to live up to the legacy of Kinnporsche, but to me, they're not succeeding. I've found some nice ones with good acting/storytelling, but... it's just not it. At least not yet.

I'm waiting with crossed fingers to see if BOC can replicate that magic or if Kinnporsce was a fluke. GMMTV and the others have been pretty consistent but BOC doesn't have a record to track so I want to wait. If another show comes out, I will give it a chance. I'm praying for Man Suang to quench this thirst in my spirit.

Honestly, in my head, I doubt that anything can top Kinnporsche right now. Especially with the cast separating and doing different things. I loved them all together. I got so used to seeing them all as a unit that it's going to be hard to watch something with one or to people. But I will try because I need my fix.
