Sometimes our light is taken from us. But it's important to remember that it cannot be out forever, and we can always fight to get it back. It's hard to hold by yourself, and sometimes it would burn our hands, but it would be all worth it. So thank you, @rngaredead, for letting me sit by your light while you tell this beautiful story, and take some of it with me. I won't let it go out.

At Ted’s nod, Trent huffs a laugh, twisting away from Ted and smothering it in his hand. Admittedly, Ted feels a twinge of annoyance—he doesn’t find it very funny. He didn’t like seeing his team play that way. If you could even call it playing. But he feels that annoyance fizzle out when he sees Trent shaking his head, clearly no more amused than he is. He’s learning that Trent’s smiles aren’t always derived from positive emotions—in fact he seems to smile just as often when he’s uncomfortable. And this occasion appears to fall under the latter variety.

Plus, Ted just plain finds it hard to stay unhappy with Trent. Maybe that’s a little pathetic, being weak to a smile and the occasional pop culture reference, but what can he say? He’s had Trent running through his head since…
