absolutely love your fic recs omg! do you have any recs for authors who are currently still active? i'll read anything but i'm a big fan of stories that take their time and have a slow slow slow burn.
aww thank you for the ask! here are some of my top-tier favorites from ~active~ authors, varying degrees of slow burn:
probationary action - @toomuchplor
this fic is like being in a carnival funhouse where the walls are writhing, panting, dumb-hot, rigorously perfect smut and then slowly, slowly, you recognize all the mirrors and the warped floor are actually soft, glancing sentiment and crisp prose and then you make it back outside to a big, real, aching world. in the parking lot you will have also important thoughts about the punitive justice system.
Harry breathes out a sigh, dropping his face into the open palms of his hands. “Thank Merlin for you, Neville,” Harry says, looking up again. “You really are the best of all of us.” “I’m not,” says Neville, “but I do want to see you happy, Harry.” Harry reaches out and squeezes Neville’s shoulder fondly. “It must be very interesting, dating Malfoy,” says Neville, standing up. “He uses a lot of sex spells, doesn’t he.”
la, who am i to love you? - @epitomereally
a masterpiece! i'm actually getting sun-soaked dazed eyes just thinking about it. perfect, heat-scoured (the riddled-with-light skies! the la fires! the radiant blooming gardens! the fucking pool!) lush location, one of the most interesting takes, and still true-to-the-marrow depictions of harry, draco, pansy, luna - the list is endless. also so hot, and so dear. even the traffic feels dreamy.
“Maybe you could list the pros and cons of moving to LA for me, Harry,” Dr Goldstein prods. Uncomfortably, all Harry can think is Draco, Draco, Draco.
the july tree - @oknowkiss
:,) this is so sweet, fun, hot and adoring from another masterful prose-maker. everything that is glanced at feels so naturally done, the vividness creeps in before you're liable to fully realize you're in fact reading and not truly looking. explorative and understanding. 10/10, wonderful, a hundred gold stars.
His neck was in shambles from where it had been bent over to one side. He tried to move but there was a heavy weight on his shoulder. He looked down and saw Potter had fallen asleep on him. Potter’s hand had slipped between Draco’s legs, just above his knees, and then the train came to a stop and Potter woke up as well, lifting his head, his glasses slightly crooked. Draco wanted to go back an hour and keep himself awake, so that he could feel Potter on him, warm and heavy and unguarded. Instead he’d had only a few seconds before Potter sat up straight, stretching his arms overhead. He smiled at Draco before standing, resting his hand on top of Draco’s head as he walked by. It was lovely, and intimate, but all Draco could think of was the hour he’d slept through, an hour of time spent with Potter he wouldn’t ever get back, his brain repeating over and over, I missed it.
cut from the sky - @mallstars
so much of what i'm desperate to say about this fic is [redacted] for spoiler reasons! such a raw romance wound around an incredible, engaging, heart-stuttering plot. i'm jutting my lip out and there's a vacant ache in my ribs where my heart's supposed to be over this one. lovely, queer, splendid, just perfect. god.
"Please," Harry heard himself say, though he didn't quite know what he was asking. Draco kissed his forehead. "Of course," he replied. "What would you like?" Harry shivered, watching the runnels of water against Draco's flushed cheek. "Please," Harry said again, dropping his head against Draco's leather-clad shoulder, thinking of his hotel room, of stumbling into Draco's store tomorrow, calling him Malfoy and pretending his days didn't revolve entirely around him, "Please don't leave. Please don't leave just yet."
gallows-bird - @jtimu
i want to describe this one with eight knife emoji's and nothing more. four chapters in and every single one individually has ruined my day. it's wonderful, dreary, just enough gray that you'll wonder if the glint you thought you saw was hope or just a trick of the light. highly recommend, misery loves company, come on through.
There hadn’t ever been anyone to soothe Harry’s hurts. To fuss over his skinned knees or brush his hair back from his temples with tender thumbs, too coo softly over a scrape. Comfort was something he’d learned secondhand, dear and hard-bought, and so sat there with his fingers twisted together, knuckles like knotgrass, and tried to wrench the words out. He wanted to touch, instinct told him that much, but he lacked the framework for how and where, and so he didn’t, and they sat there together in a thorny silence.
from love, obviously - @starsworth
counting even though bizarrestars is writing mostly (lovely! gender-explorative! wonderful! wolfstar and also black familial fic currently) not drarry because just god damn. an essential read for me. weirdo, phenomenal draco and the best teddy in the game, easily. hilarious but in that way where your breath snags after laughing really hard and the moment sort of echoes.
"You were kissing," Teddy says. "I saw it."  Harry's eyes sink shut for a moment, and he drags a hand through his hair, which Draco may have accidentally made a mess of, then he blows out a deep breath and opens his eyes. "That's—well, that did happen, yes. That was…something we did."  Teddy's eyes narrow. "I thought you were mortal enemies."  "Mortal enemies kiss…sometimes," Harry says weakly, clearly out of his depth here. He grimaces almost immediately after he says this, then seems to remember he's the adult out of the two of them and coughs, standing up taller. "Nevermind that, you'll understand when you're older."
close behind - @oflights
oh my whole fucking heart. destroyed! adrift! she died how she lived. reading this feels like listening to music, something sleek and melodic, and when i actually consider the masterfully-rendered level of complexity in the plot, it feels like trying to peer into the belly of an actively-playing grand piano. certainly does not hurt to be an enormous fan of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, orpheus and eurydice myth, and general suffering <3
“It’ll be all right,” Draco said again, and Harry swallowed the rest of his words. He couldn’t let them out here, in their bed, in their home; not yet. And his body didn’t know how to say what he wanted it to, not with Draco this close. Harry didn’t know how to tell Draco that they wouldn’t be all right, not in any language. Not yet.

A and B have just started officially dating after years of pining over one another, so A wants to make a great impression… unfortunately their shitty immune system has other ideas.
B shows up to the restaurant 10 minutes early and sits on a bench outside to wait for A when suddenly they hear:
“Heh’igshHU! sdf…”
They turn their head to see A opening the door to the restaurant, so preoccupied with their nose they don’t even see B sitting there waiting for them.
B follows A inside as they go up to the host stand.
“I have a reservadtion at seved PMb for ____” A turns to the side to cough into their fist raggedly.
“I’m sorry sir/ma’am, but I don’t see a reservation at seven for ____. Is it possible it could be under a different name?” The hostess says politely.
B secretly continues to stand behind A and watches as A rubs the bridge of their nose in frustration. “Ndo, it would defiditely be udder ____.” They sigh, “My partder is godda be here in like five mbidutes, is there adyway you cad fit us ih-h’nGXt! …ind?” A pleads.
“The wait would be about 45 minutes…” The hostess says sheepishly. “I’m very sorry.”
“A!” B calls their attention. A visibly relaxes at the sight of B and goes over to hug them. B pulls away from the hug and takes a look at A’s face.
“You don’t look well…” B says, voice dripping with concern.
“Heh… gee thadks. You look great by the way.” A smiles at B, but then their smile fades. “I’b sorry but I thidk I mbessed up our reservadtions.” A looks at B like a kicked puppy.
“Oh, A.” B sighs and cups a hand around A’s face. “Who cares about this stupid restaurant anyways!” B turns to the hostess and mouths “no offense.” They turn back to A, “What you really need is some Nyquil and a good night’s rest. We can go out another day.”
“….But I wadted thiggs to be perfect for tonight. It’s only our second real date…” A looks down at the floor.
“Oh you’re so silly. I’ve known you for years it wouldn’t matter if this was our 800th date. Come on, let’s go home. I’m sure I can treat you to something even better than dinner when we’re all alone…” B says, grabbing A’s arm.

oh goodness guys I think I figured out the Lethe protocol... uhhh so. remember into the mind?
Tumblr media
Notice Chris's patient number? Seems random at first but remember it for later. Andrew pointed out that it could either mean he's the 239th patient, or its on the second floor like in hotel rooms. So that would make him the 39th patient on the 2nd floor.
Tumblr media
If we go back to lethe protocol, where Chris is tampering with Andrew's save files/memories, he's referred to as [SUBJECT136] by the system. It's quite random that this was chosen instead of his like username or something, because doesn't this imply the protocol applies to multiple subjects? Why would Chris need access to over 100 people's saves/memories?
It also has similarities with chris's designation at the hospital. Both are 3 digits long, both have a 3 in the middle, and if you turn the 6 upside-down it becomes a nine. Then it hit me. If andrew is right about the hospital room numbers working like a hotel, then that would place room 136 in the same ward below 239. I did wonder why it wasn't 139 instead for a bit, but that led me to think of numbers appearing differently in reflections, particularly in lakes or other bodies of water. I'm imagining Chris staring down at Andrew from the spirit world like he's peering at the surface and maybe submerging his head to interact with the mortals for a brief time. (I'm only remembering now that Lethe is named after a river so uhh... even more relevant ig)
Anyway, it doesn't end there. Remember the fixing room? A lot of people speculate it meant electric shock therapy or something, but I'm beginning to think they are wrong.
Tumblr media
It never says here that Chris died in the fixing room, just that it failed and he failed. Then it says his body was found in the well one morning when previous books document his experiences with being called there. At first I thought they buried the body there because he died and they wanted to cover it up, but based on the wording I think he killed himself just like Smiler. Also we don't know how many days passed between this book and the last since none of them are dated. Let's look back to LetheProtocol.mp4:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah... tbh that pretty much confirms it actually. I forgot about this line. The Fixing Room = The Lethe Protocol. How Chris made it in minecraft to tamper with his friend, idk. But remember he's a technical guy who likes to push the limits of what can be done in minecraft. He's also likely received a supernatural advantage from being a digital ghost, so suspend your disbelief.
Also note the name of the hospital. "Desiderium asylum". It's a fancy latin word related to longing, specifically longing for something lost. Lethe meanwhile means forgetfulness or oblivion, the river Lethe existing in greek mythology as a place in the underworld that would wipe a persons mortal memories if they drank from it. These two words stand out in the ARG as odd, considering most people would have to look up their meaning to understand them. Therefore, I think they are related. After all, is it a cure for grief to simply forget and move on?
If that doesn't convince you, there is slightly more evidence I found. When Andrew first visits the asylum, its worn down and made out of... bricks and mossy cobble, huh. Like there are other blocks but I'm realising now that maybe it hints that Chris/Smiler built it? Together?
But after Smiler catches up to Andrew, the place changes completely before we learn Chris was the patient he's been reading about, the appearance of the asylum completely changes to look clean and white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not identical to the place in LetheProtocol.mp4, but it is somewhat familiar especially with the doors and corridors. Also look at the lil blue rose in Chris's room <3. I think the starkest similarities is that both structures have these potted hedges inside.
For comparison:
Tumblr media
Also, there was another mystery that plagued me.
Tumblr media
What do these numbers mean in relation to Andrew's memory/save file data? Are these years? Individual save files? Didn't Andrew's old world with Chris get corrupted (I was wrong they did go missing, my bad-) and not deleted anyway? Why choose door 11? In fact he seems to hestitate before doing so. Is it age, because then Andrew would be 16 years old and Chris erased his memories of being 11 for some reason?
Then I realised...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guys, I don't think he just forgot those videos existed and couldn't see them on his channel, I think they either got unlisted for a bit or just straight up deleted in-universe. I wasn't there if they got unlisted at the time as part of the arg so idk, comments section didn't mention anything about it. But like... season one canonically doesn't exist anymore I think 😭. If I'm right about the numbers lining up, then somehow Andrew's memory is tied to his videos too?? I guess Chris erased his memories of making those videos along with the videos themselves, though I will say... after the latest video at the time of typing this I don't think the world itself actually got deleted :3. Too many memories for Chris as well, ig. He may have just hid it somewhere... which begs the question, what does "save data" actually refer too? Both Chris and Smiler seem to be able to upload to the channel and edit videos as ghosts, so like... did he target only the memories of those 11 videos/gaming sessions?
I could ramble even longer but eh I think I get my points across. Dunno if anyone else has thought of all this before, probably, but if you didn't know then here it is, all in one place.
After a bit more thought, I do think there's a reason that the Lethe protocol chamber device only seems to have 16 rooms. It's not lore related, rather a reference to 16 bits in computing. Minecraft isn't 16 bits but eh. It's the best I could come up with. Chris might've built it as a 16 bit operating system or smth. Also I doubt he'd need to erase more then 16 minecraft episodes from Andrew's memory/channel at at time. If he needed to erase more, say like 20, then he could just run the 16th room and then the 4th or some other combination.
For some reason each room has a passcode on the ceiling too, like a pin number. I could try and work out that later but for now, I think I'm happy with my findings.

You've posted about Aus politics stuff. Maybe you can explain this one. Where I live, I have 5 candidates for the house of representatives. So I number the ballot from 1-5, so my first preference gets 5 points and my lowest preference gets 1 point. My friend lives in an area with 7 candidates, so this means their first preference gets 7 points? Is there an advantage to running in an area with more candidates or less candidates?
Hey there! Preferences work on allocation, not by number of points, which come into play if no candidate gets an absolute majority of votes (50% + 1 of all votes, so if an electorate has 10,000 voters, they'd need 5,001 votes to be elected). The order you list is the order your vote gets allocated.
Let's say, for the sake of simplifying the numbers, an electorate has 50 voters, and four candidates - Labor, Liberal, Greens, and an independent. (Disclaimer for non-Australians: 'Liberal', here, refers to our right-wing party. I know. Labor is centre-left...ish, Greens are left.) To get an absolute majority, they'd need 50% + 1, or 26 votes. The primary votes (the number 1s on everyone's ballot form) are counted, and it ends up looking like this:
Liberals: 19
ALP: 18
Greens: 7
Ind: 6
The Liberals have more votes than the ALP, but still not enough for an absolute majority. Our independent has the lowest amount of votes, so the six papers that mark them as their primary candidate now go to whoever was marked as 2nd on the paper. (If someone voted for the independent 1st, Labor 2nd, their vote would then go towards Labor.) After their six votes are distributed, the results now look like this:
ALP: 21
Liberals: 21
Greens: 8
The Greens have picked up one vote, the Libs picked up two, Labor picked up three. But there's still no absolute majority, so now the Greens candidate has their votes dissolved. Most Greens voters tend to put the ALP as their major party, but we can say that there's one outlier who went with the Libs second. Their eight votes are distributed:
ALP: 28
Liberals: 22
The ALP now has a majority of 26 votes or more, and are voted in for that electorate!
The more candidates there are, the more stages there are in the process. Some of the minor parties and independents pick up minuscule amounts of votes, but they're still all counted and distributed until there's a winner. It doesn't necessarily mean it takes longer - if there are 200,000 voters in an electorate who vote for four candidates, those votes are still counted with the same consideration given to 200,000 voters in an electorate who vote for twelve candidates - but there are potentially more stages of redistributing and eliminating (unless, of course, a candidate wins on primaries - that 50% + 1 figure - in that seat, in which case the redistributing never happens).
Preferential voting is great, it means a given elected member will generally reflect a majority of the population of that electorate, even if an individual candidate doesn't get a majority. Just to use a broad generalisation, if 60% of an electorate leans left and 40% leans right, and their votes are, say, 30% Labor, 20% Greens, 10% a left-leaning independent, and 40% Lib, and Labor gets in based on the Green and independent preferences, it's a better compromise than the Lib candidate, since the Green and left-leaning independent voters will most likely align with Labor values than Lib values, and would have preferenced Labor over the Libs. The Libs might have got a higher primary vote, but the preferences mean that the left-leaning majority gets an elected member that's closer to their values.
It also means that you can vote for a minor party, like the Greens, without 'wasting' your vote. Voting for a third party is not wasting your vote like it is in America, which uses a different system. If you want to vote for the Greens, but are in an electorate where they're not likely to get in, you can put your second vote towards whoever you want, and once the Greens candidate is eliminated, your entire vote goes towards your second choice.
I hope this helped, and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask! Just over a week to go until Election Day!

Time for a history lesson, folks.
Josef Newgarden and Conor Daly's lives have been intertwined since they were barely teenagers. The first met at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana, racing go-karts.
Tumblr media
2005 Mooresville, Indiana Grand Prix ( r to l ) Art Raney, Elliott Bachelart, Conor Daly, Josef Newgarden
Newgarden drove his first kart at the age of 13, and was a regular at the Kart Racers of America (KRA) series at the New Castle Motorsports Park. It was in 2006 that Josef claimed his first titles, winning two Yamaha Junior championships that season. From there, he jumped back and forth between karting and Skip Barber, where he excelled quickly and won a number of races. Daly began karting earlier, hitting the track at the age of 10. In 2005, Daly won the two Yamaha Junior championships and moved on to racing nationally in the sport of karting. Daly scored three WKA Manufacturers Cup Series victories, including a Grand National event. The following year, he moved up to the Senior level, where he earned the Stars of Karting Eastern championship in TaG driving for Top Kart USA.
Tumblr media
2008 would be a year to remember for both as they competed in the Skip Barber National Championship. The two swapped victories with Daly earning five – along with the championship – while Newgarden took home three wins and finished runner-up in the standings. That September, the duo was named to the Team USA Scholarship program to compete at the Formula Ford Festival and the Walter Hayes Trophy Formula Ford event in England. Newgarden became the first American to win theFormula Ford Festival, while Daly took the honor as the first North American to claim victory at the Walter Hayes event.

Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden, currently first and second, respectively, in the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda, were awarded the prestigious Team USA Scholarships for the 2008 season.
Daly, 16, from Noblesville, Ind., and Newgarden, 17, from Hendersonville, Tenn., will fly the Scholarship’s patriotic red, white and blue colors in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, England, on the weekend of October 18-19, and the Walter Hayes Trophy Formula Ford event at Silverstone, England, two weeks later (November 1-2).
Prior to Daly and Newgarden racing against each other this year in the Skip Barber National – Daly has four wins and two poles, “Newgy” two wins and a series-leading six poles – the two were competitors in the Stars of Karting ranks. The pair are separated by just five points at the head of the SBN championship standings with just two races remaining at Virginia International Raceway next month.
The pair will drive identical Ray chassis prepared by renowned Cliff Dempsey Racing, a multiple championship-winning team based in Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland.

Newgarden and Daly were selected to race as part of the 2008 Team USA Scholarship program
The latest in a long line of Team USA Scholarship winners, Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden, dominated proceedings this past weekend in the final two rounds of the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda at Virginia International Raceway.
Daly, 16, from Noblesville, Ind., won from the pole on Saturday at VIR and added a second-place finish Sunday to clinch the championship and a $350,000 bonus that will enable him to progress along the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development ladder system and compete in next year’s Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear. Daly hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow Team USA Scholarship winners Dane Cameron (2006), who went on to win the Star Mazda title in 2007 before graduating into the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, and Joel Miller (2007), who leads the 2008 Star Mazda points table prior to the final round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Newgarden, 17, from Hendersonville, Tenn., won Sunday’s race to secure second in the championship standings. Newgarden also claimed two other race wins and a series-high six poles during the 14-race season.

Friday, October 17, 2008 BRANDS HATCH, England – Expectations were high for Team USA Scholarship drivers Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden as they went into today’s official qualifying sessions for the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. Each was in a different group and when their 15-minute sessions were checkered, ”Newgy” was on pole for Heat One while Daly just missed (by .07) pole for Heat Two.

Daly and Newgarden each scored victory in Formula Ford action in Europe
BRANDS HATCH, England – Josef Newgarden made history by winning the famed Formula Ford Festival (1600 Kent class) at Brands Hatch – the first American to ever do so. Past winners of the event, which dates back to 1972, include current Formula 1 stars Mark Webber and Jenson Button.
His Team USA Scholarship teammate Conor Daly also played a starring role, rising from the back of the grid in his heat race to finish a sterling sixth in the 25-lap Final.

Josef Newgarden Wins For Team USA
SILVERSTONE, England – Conor Daly capped an extraordinarily successful Team USA Scholarship foray to England by winning the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone on Sunday, November 2. The victory came just two weeks after teammate Josef Newgarden won the Formula Ford Festival Kent Class at Brands Hatch.
Never in the history of Formula Ford, long considered the seed bed of future F1 drivers, has an American — let alone two — made such an impression in Europe. That Daly and Newgarden found this success as an outgrowth of their Skip Barber experience speaks for itself.
Daly, who started fourth on the 36-car grid for the 15-lap Walter Hayes Grand Final, held in cold, wet and extremely treacherous conditions, took the lead at half distance when Scottish Formula Ford Champion Graham Carroll slid off the road at Luffield corner.
Daly, 16, from Noblesville, Indiana, controlled the remainder of the race and set the fastest lap for good measure. He became the youngest driver ever to scoop the Walter Hayes Trophy, which is named after one of the originators of Formula Ford. The presentation was made by Walter Hayes’ widow, Elizabeth, in the Clubhouse of the famed British Racing Drivers Club.

eKartingNews: Josef, what do you remember about the first time you met Conor?
Josef Newgarden: I think I met Conor the second or third time at New Castle. He was racing Junior Can, and one of the bad ass drivers, along with Eric Morrow and a few others. I was just getting into the sport, practicing and understanding more about the sport. New Castle was the first and closest place to our home. It’s one of the best facilities in the sport and the KRA series they run was pretty packed when we raced there. It provided a great opportunity to race without having to travel to other programs like WKA or Stars of Karting.
EKN: Conor, what do you remember about the first time you met Josef?
Conor Daly: I don’t even know if I remember the first time I met Josef. I think it was at New Castle, racing against each other in Yamaha Junior Can. He was one of my main competitors, so we got to know one another and now have raced against each other for so many years. I won the championships one year, and then he took them both the following year, then we moved up together, and in Skip Barber and Team USA Scholarship together. After time apart, we found ourselves racing against each other in Indy Lights, and now at the Indy 500. It’s been a long road.

Warhammer Gaslamp: Geopolitics of the Old World
Tumblr media
(For the Introduction, see here; for Imperial Society, see here)
The Empire of Man in 2725 IC is the strongest that it has ever been, which is reflected in its growing position of geopolitical power in the Old World. In addition to the Grand Provinces proper, the Empire has an expanded sphere of influence across the Continent:
The Tzardom of Kislev: existing in personal union with the Empire of Man, by treaty and law the position of Tzar or Tzarina is handed down to the younger son or oldest daughter of the Imperial Family, who in turn must be married to a consort of Kislevian royalty, or vice versa. The Tzardom follows its own legal system and maintains its own armies, but is a full member of the Imperial Zollverein and frequently engages in joint exercises with the Imperial Army of the North.
The Merchant Republic of Marienburg: still one of the great financial and commercial powers of the world thanks to its unique trading relationships with Ulthuan, Cathay, Nippon, and Ind, Marienburg is technically a protectorate of the Empire. In exchange for naval protection for its merchant marine and full membership in the Zollverein, Marienburg agreed to elect each Emperor Stadtholder of the Republic, as long as the Emperor agreed to never travel in person to Marienburg and instead govern through a Marienburger Regent (selected by the Empire from a shortlist drawn up the Legislative Assembly).
The Imperial Province of Sudenland (formerly known as the Border Princes): incorporated into the Empire a hundred years ago in one of the last of the Greenskin Wars, the Province of Sudenland is distinguished from the Grand Provinces of the Empire proper through a complex system of linguistic community-based governance whereby Imperial, Tilean, Hellene, and Bretonnian nations maintain their own courts, churches, charitable institutions, and militias under the "benevolent oversight" of Imperial Representatives. Needless to say, the Foreign Ministry sends many of its best and brightest to diplomatic positions in Sudenland, whereas the Imperial Armed Forces consider it one of the worst postings in the services.
Other Nations:
The Federal Republic of Tilea - a relatively decentralized republic, by law the republic's capital switches every year from city-state to city-state. Considered one of the great cultural centers of the Old World, Tilea is known as much for its operas as its many revolutions led by men in poofy red shirts - although these days, Tilean militaries feature muzzle-loading rifles and horse cannons more than pike squares.
The Two Nations of Estalia - for all its decentralization, Tilea is an oasis of peace and harmony compared to its neighbor to the west, which has been mired in a civil war for decades between the Red Faction with its strongholds in the industrialized east and among the rebellious campesinos, and the Black Faction with its basis among the landlords, the caudillos, and the church in the rural west.
L'Ancien Régime of Bretonnia - still dominated by the chivalry, although they've long ago given up their chainmail in favor of musketeers in feathered hats carrying matchlocks and rapiers, Bretonnia is known for having the finest cavalry in the entire world. Unfortunately in a world dominated by mechanized war, Bretonnia has become a backwards-looking, second-rate power that hasn't won a major war in well over a century. Despite the best efforts of the chivalry to censor radical literature from Marienburg and the Laborer's Guild of the Empire, the peasant majority is increasingly resentful and fractious, with many of the best and brightest emigrating to more egalitarian societies to the north, east, and south. The importance of Donnie's location in the trailer
Call me a nerd, but when it comes to location, I go all Matpat and begin to do a research. I like to use location and some canon aspects with my fictional story, for the sake of world building.
I have a feeling Donnie is the first or second character they will focus on because hes the one in the background after the trailer ends. Also, the idw comic ended with him in a way, so it's a beautiful way to start this series
So, the location of Donnie on that train is super important for his character arc. Where is Donnie? Let's look at the picture and analyze it.
Tumblr media
We see that inside of the underground train station, the architectural design is square shape and a bit narrow. The train stations choice of light bulbs is the linear fluorescent light bulb or, simply put, the lamp type. After some digging I found out that The New York City Subway is a rapid transit system that serves four of the five boroughs of New York City, namely : the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens
At first, I thought it was Nenvins St Brooklyn. Because there, Thearthe Shakespear was nearby. Mikey would love it there. But it didn't fit the picture at all. I hear you thinking, but what about the graffiti?
So I did a bit more digging for specifically train stations that had or still have graffiti art on the wall, and I found this
Tumblr media
This is the Sutphin Subway entrance.
Tumblr media
It's possible that Donnie is at Sutphin Boulevard station (IND Queens Boulevard Line) instead of Nenvin.
New York City Subway station in Queens The Sutphin Boulevard station is a local station on the IND Queens Boulevard Line of the New York City Subway. Why does this matter?
Take a look at the Google maps. We'll well well, what do we have here?
Tumblr media
BINGO! A museum of science. It's also right next to the Zoo! We all know what happened to the Zoo animals in the movie, when Suplafly mutated. It may not be the same Zoo, but it's an interesting detail!
I live in Holland, so I am new to the train stations in NY, but I'm positive that the reason Donnie is on that train is related to the science museum. Donnie is smart and usually is the one that comes up with plans, and once he's at the science museum, he will discover his love for science and slowly become the tech genius we know and love
An honorable mention is the subway station, Washington Hights in Manhatten. This is the deepest and the most dangerous subway station tunnel. It's filled with amazing graffiti art, and I can only imagine the amazing fight scenes that could take place here.
All in all, it's just a shot in the dark because it's a theory, and I could be wrong.

Previewing what one anti-war group called "a terrifying, hate-driven vision of a U.S. government under undivided conservative control," the Republican-controlled U.S. House on Friday not only passed its latest military spending package of nearly $1 trillion, but included a number of amendments attacking the bodily autonomy and other rights of service members.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was passed in the House largely along party lines, with 217 voting for the $884 billion package and 199 voting against it.
Six Democrats—Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Donald Davis (N.C.), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Mary Peltola (Alaska), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wa.)—joined with the Republican majority to help pass the measure.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, once again noted her disapproval of a bill that places military spending over "investments in domestic priorities, from education to housing, healthcare to childcare," as she has in previous years—but the annual Pentagon funding package drew additional ire for its inclusion of amendments related to abortion rights, transgender healthcare, and other culture war battles.
"For the second year in a row, MAGA House Republicans pursued a path of extremism for the annual Pentagon authorization bill to continue waging their attacks on climate action, reproductive rights, LBGTQ+ rights, and communities of color," said Jayapal. "This bloated $833 billion Pentagon authorization bill approves $8.6 billion in additional tax dollars for an out-of-control military budget, expanding costly and unnecessary weapons systems while banning gender-affirming care, abortion travel, and diversity efforts for servicemembers."
The amendments pushed through by Republicans include one proposed by Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas), which would block a Biden administration policy that reimburses members of the military for travel costs they incur when seeking an abortion, and one put forward by Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.), which would block funding for gender-affirming medical procedures for service members.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) proposed a ban on any funds in the legislation being used to implement President Joe Biden's climate change executive orders.
Reps. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) proposed placing Pentagon jobs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives on a permanent hiring freeze, and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) added an amendment requiring the Reconciliation Monument, a Confederate memorial, to be relocated to Arlington National Cemetery.
On Thursday, Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) called the latter amendment "disheartening."
"Mr. Clyde is proposing that we return a monument to treason to our national cemetery without any accompanying context or education," said Beyer. "The monument in question is a basic ode to the Confederacy, to romanticize a lost cause."

shes spending her time thinking of me im busy thinking about how glad i am that the IND second system wasn't built because of the toll on the New York Subway that it would most likely have entailed potentially resulting in its collapse and the failure of the city to revitalise in the 80s

How to Build a Food Delivery App Like Uber Eats: Step-by-Step Guide
Tumblr media
The demand for convenient food delivery solutions has skyrocketed in this era of digitalization. Apps like Uber Eats have changed the method of ordering food by giving the customer a seamless experience-from searching through delivery. In this profitable industry, developing a profitable partner for the food delivery application could be a game-changer. Finally, Netscape Labs comes with an ultimate guide to the post-2025 Uber Eats App Development.
Why Invest in Food Delivery App Development in 2025?
Consumer behaviors and technological progress will see the food delivery market globally hitting an all-time high in 2025. With more individuals being dependent on mobile applications for all their everyday needs, food delivery app development can command a large user base. Whether you’re a startup founder, a business decision-maker, or a tech-savvy entrepreneur, now is the opportune moment to work with a mobile app development company to give life to your idea.
Essential Features for a Food Delivery App Like Uber Eats
For Your Users
An app that has a fast, no-fuss login with an OTP or one-tap Google/Apple sign-ins. Then comes the main dish: restaurant listings that don’t overwhelm, but give just enough detail (cuisine, reviews, delivery time filters) to help users decide in seconds. Live order tracking has become non-negotiable, and don’t forget payment flexibility, cards, wallets, and even UPI. Wrap it all up with a solid rating/review system. People love being heard.
For Your Restaurant Partners
They need control over menus, pricing, availability, and a dashboard that doesn’t require a manual to use. Throw in real-time order management and basic sales analytics, and you’ve got a system that helps them operate smoothly and stay loyal to your platform.
For Your Delivery Partners
Notifications need to be real-time and reliable. Help them with route suggestions, allow them to track their earnings transparently, and make the experience frictionless. The smoother it is, the faster the deliveries.
For You, the Admin
You should have visibility over every moving part: users, restaurants, delivery crew, commissions, offers, and reports. Your dashboard is your control tower. Use it to run campaigns, resolve issues, tweak pricing, and most importantly, make data-backed decisions.
Standout Features That Make Users Stick Around
AI recommendations: People love it when the app seems to “know” what they’re in the mood for. Use behavior-based suggestions.
Voice search: It’s faster than typing, and great for accessibility.
Loyalty rewards: Offer cashback, points, or discounts to keep users coming back.
Multi-language UI: Don’t assume your audience speaks English. Offer local language support.
Contactless delivery: It’s no longer just a pandemic feature; it’s now a convenience.
What’s Under the Hood: Tech Stack You Can Trust
For cross-platform mobile apps (iOS + Android with one codebase), we recommend Flutter or React Native, both reliable and fast-moving.
On the backend, Node.js or Django gets the job done well, depending on your team’s strengths. For databases, go with MongoDB for flexibility and PostgreSQL for structure.
Add Stripe or Razorpay for secure payments. Use Firebase Cloud Messaging for real-time order updates. And for maps and tracking, Google Maps API is still the gold standard.

FAQs
Do we need separate apps for users, restaurants, and delivery partners?
Yes. A scalable food delivery platform typically includes three modules (User App, Restaurant Dashboard, and Delivery Partner App), plus a robust Admin Panel. A seasoned app development company will help you architect this with clean APIs and a unified backend.
We are based outside the US. Can we are still build a competitive food delivery app?
Absolutely. Whether you’re looking for a mobile app development company in Singapore, mobile app developers in Canada, or expertise in mobile app development in Malaysia, location is no barrier to innovation. Netscape Labs has helped global clients launch cross-border delivery apps with local flair and global standards.
How is a food delivery app different from other e-commerce apps?
Unlike regular e-commerce, food delivery apps need real-time inventory sync, live location tracking, ETA management, and instant notifications. This adds complexity, so you need a best app development company that gets the nuance of real-time logistics.
Can we add AI features to my food delivery app?
Definitely. From smart dish recommendations to dynamic delivery estimates, AI in mobile app development can supercharge user engagement and operational efficiency. Our team bakes intelligent features right into your stack.
How long does it take to launch a food delivery app?
With the right tech partner, you can launch a functional MVP in 8–12 weeks. Full feature development might take 4–6 months. As a mobile app development company, we prioritize agile sprints and weekly check-ins to keep you moving fast without surprises.
What makes Netscape Labs different?
