I went to check my follower activity after a conversation with my spouse and

The only thing I can think of is that as the porn bot bans are happening, it's not counting that as followers lost, but still lowering the follower count in total, leading to steady growth over time being translated poorly into going from a negative follower count to a positive one over time.

The line goes into the negatives, which it was clearly not designed to do, and it gave me a good chuckle, so I went to check on a few of my other blogs, to see if they got hit with the same effect

And this one was even worse! In part due to a larger differential, but also due to the overall current follower count being lower, which means the scale on the graph changes, making it dip even lower on the screen. Got a good laugh out of that, but then.... I was not prepared...

I went to check one of my other blogs which has had very very few legitimate followers, and been absolutely swarmed with porn bots and...

It just goes on forever! The site is broken, I can't even scroll down to see how far it goes! This had me fuckin cackling at 4 am and I would not be surprised if I ended up waking someone up.

Whumptober Day 5

Debris / Pinned down / “It’s broken.”

Tonight's been shitty, so sorry if the writing is subpar

TW: Car crash, broken bones, kidnapping, theft

Felix knew they had fucked up. It was pretty obvious, sitting in the ruins of their totaled car, head pounding and heart racing.

The truck had come out of nowhere, a commercial-grade van twice the size of their used Nissan, budging into their lane so they had to swerve to avoid it.

The car flew into a ditch, and suddenly everything was crushing, shattering, screaming, and trying to kill them.

Then it all went fuzzy.

Then dark.

They remembered the back door opening and shutting, distorted words being spoken. They knew who owned the van without even having to think about it.

After all, the briefcase full of stolen money was in the backseat. And they would bet their life that it had just been taken back.

A few minutes passed before they were really in a place for serious thought. They opened their eyes, surveying the wreck, trying to figure out a plan. Action, they knew, was necessary. They just didn't know what type.

Broken glass and debris littered every visible surface. The broken car's headlights were the only source of light on the rural highway, and they created stark shadows and swimming figures in odd places.

Finally, Felix spotted their phone on the floor of the passenger side. That, they knew, was their next move. No one would be coming for them unless they called for help.

As much as they hated police, and desperately wanted to avoid questions they couldn't reveal the answers too, it was obvious they needed help. Even shifting in their seat changed the dull ache covering their body into a sharp pain.

They grit their teeth and leaned over, stifling a groan as they reached for the phone. The gear shifter pushed against their chest, jostling what they guessed was a broken rib, from the white-hot burst that ripped a cry out of their lips.

They pulled in a gasping breath as tears prickled the corners of their eyes. Adjusting their position, they reached once more for the phone, for the only plan that had any chance of working out well.

Their fingers brushed the phone case, and they inched it closer to them, until they were able to pick it up. Sitting up, they pressed the power button, hoping they could get a signal out in the middle of nowhere, and-

It was broken.

The screen was shattered. Pressing the power button had no effect on the dark, lifeless screen.

Felix leaned back onto the seat, letting the phone fall from their grasp. What the fuck were they supposed to do now?

They didn't notice the car pull over on the side of the highway. The car was facing away from the road, and the stranger cut the power as soon as they were stopped. They didn't notice as the stranger came up behind the wreckage, didn't notice as they matched the license plate to the one texted to them by a business associate.

They did notice when the stranger opened their door and pulled them out, slinging them over their shoulder. They did not, however, have the strength to fight back.

They had fucked up.

And now, they would spend the rest of their life paying for it.
