Guys is it just me or am I the only one who mentally blocked out the memory of a baby being an Ice age one. I thought that was like ice age 2 or something. I can remember the vivid details of Ice Age one and not once can I think of a time the baby was in there and I only remember the only three animals the entire time. I can remember vividly the entire movie but the stupid baby wasn’t in it. So imagine my PTSD flashback to all of the scenes I thought I knew with the stupid ugly baby. This isn’t going on the dead meme I just legitimately remember there was a child that was the plot point of the formerly loved movie.

Ice age 2 the meltdown movie#
Ice age 2 the meltdown software#
Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers. A musical number was also added to this sequel, which was “Food Glorious Food” from the Broadway musical Oliver!. Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat join forces with new friends: Ellie and her possum brothers, Crash and Eddie, to save the valley from an epic flood. Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, and Josh Peck join the cast as Ellie, Crash, and Eddie respectively.įollowing the footsteps of David Newman’s music in the first movie, John Powell composed the musical score for Ice Age 2, and would do the same for the next two movies in the series.
Ice age 2 the meltdown movie#
The main actors of the first movie returned to voice for the sequel, with Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary in their respective roles of Manny, Sid and Diego, as well as Chris Wedge providing the nutty noises of Scrat. However, the trip they undertake with the others to reach a boat that will help them escape the flooding of their territory will allow them to discover and appreciate one another. A joyful and dippy, character who contrasts with Manny’s is calm and quiet personality. When Manny, Sid and Diego discover that miles of melted ice will soon flood their valley, they must warn everyone and figure out a way to escape the coming deluge. Ellie at first seems to be the complete opposite of Manny. This game is a spin-off of the film Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), and seen through the eyes of Scrat, the saber-toothed squirrel. With Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott. Things look bright for Manny when he stumbles upon Ellie, a mammoth who thinks she’s a possum and her two "brothers" Crash and Eddie. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown: Directed by Carlos Saldanha. With Carlos Saldana (co-director of the first Ice Age movie) put in the director’s chair for the sequel, he gave goals and developments to each of the main characters, such as Diego overcoming his fear of water, Sid going on a quest to gain respect, and Manny desperate to find another mammoth, fearing he’s the last of his kind. This has resulted in more realistic rendering, especially when the fur on the characters gets wet.īut the improvements aren’t just exclusive to the animation.
Ice age 2 the meltdown software#
Since the first movie, Blue Sky significantly improved the visual quality for the sequel’s animation by creating two new software for lighting and fur. It was also a box office hit, grossing a massive $660.9 million worldwide, and cementing Ice Age as a major animated franchise. Released in March 2006, and keeping the predecessor’s offbeat tone, this new adventure was met with a more mixed reception from critics, but was warmly-received by audiences and fans. With an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature, Ice Age was greeted with such enthusiasm that it was entitled to a sequel Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. Movie Info Rating: PG (Some Mild LanguageInnuendo) Genre: Kids & family, Comedy, Adventure, Animation Original Language: English Director: Carlos Saldanha. With an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature, Ice Age was greeted with such enthusiasm that it was entitled to a sequel Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. When Manny tells his female counterpart shes attractive and fumbles his words about the two being the only hope for their species survival, Ellie accuses him. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a film directed by Carlos Saldanha with Animation.

I was today years old when I found out the song "Food Glorious Food" from Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a parody of a song from Oliver.

he really likes ice age. i have proof that came to me in a vision. sam winchester is canonically not with dean while 4 of the films are playing in theatres and you see what they are trying to tell us is that while he is not with dean, sam will pay money to go watch ice age at the movies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ice age (2002) comes out while sam has run away to stanford. ice age: the great meltdown (2006) is airing while sam and dean separate in the scarecrow episode. ice age: dawn of the dinosaurs (2009) is in cinemas while he and dean have their big fight in season 5 and sam works at a bar. ice age: continental drift (2012) is out 2 months after dean goes to purgatory.
it is unknown what sam is up to when ice age 5 comes out. my guess is that he pirated it on his laptop in his room at the bunker after getting tortured by the men of letters. if you even care.

Tadaaa! I really like your work and I had a silly idea…what if the 40 travel around other fictional universes and just…observe, goof off, witness and relax and explore the areas and the plot of other characters? Like those self made crossover videos.
Here we see the 40 or well- those who are on screen right now just relaxing and causing chaos at the melted ice water park in ice age 2! Hopefully they manage to find a way to escape the great meltdown! ^^

Hailey Banks is autistic
not just because i am too and i relate to her
1. The first episode we LITERALLY get the whole "I'm adverse to new experiences so I just write them down instead!". To the nth degree too /pos. That's what causes the whole series to begin
a big Thing of autism is need for a routine -or at least an idea of what to expect- to the point changes to the plan can result in meltdowns or flat out avoidance (as we see with Hailey).
with the world ending, she starts to embrace the changes, but still doesn't necessarily Like all the new things.
i could be reading to much into it, but in the theme song we get things like "make a candle with my own ear wax???" and "eat an onion :/" where we see this aversion to not only trying but actually DOING new things, too. this is continued at several points in the show, too. she flat out says "i don't want to do that right now; let's find a different list item" NUMEROUS times. several of those scenes do come from her feelings for scott, sure, but i think that proves my point?
friendship for neurodivergent people is ,, complicated (we'll get there) so right now hailey has this steady, predicable pattern with her best friend. she doesn't want to ruin that, and thus we fall back into the "i don't want things to change" part of autism
2. Hailey and birds
special interests are a bit complicated, and this isn't the place to explain it, but in short its basically a Really Strong interest in something. it occurs to everyone, but people with autism are more likely to experience either stronger or more frequent :)
birds are DEFINITELY a special interest for hailey!
- half of her list items INVOLVE birds and thus almost every episode has some sort of a something with birds (frank, the red owl, petey, etc) - she has a party and the way she wants to have fun is build birdhouses with her peers - she adopts a flamingo. like. - her little birdhouse collection <33333
there's more but it's just silly and i love frank and petey so much and-
3. she has a really hard time understanding how to relate to her peers socially
ok, again there are so many better researched things than this so this is a BRIEF summary, but: autistic people just process the world differently. a lot of social cues go over their head because the world is processed Different.
so having hailey be a bit dense social-wise is so nice to see. especially because none of the characters penalize her or mock her for not getting it. instead they just, talk to her? like people?
examples off the top of my head about the miscommunication are - kristine wanting to have a date with scott and hailey tags along - becker flirts with hailey and hailey is like ":D wow ! what a silly billy !" (the 'i'm more of a ice cream girl if you catch my drift' / 'i still need to use this coupon????') - the rubic's cube episode where hailey doesn't understand scott's needs vrs her own and like ,, how those mesh together - that plotline where hailey admits that she doesn't have that many [female] friends (or any besides scott) because it's always been weird for her - part of what draws her to frank is that she's ALSO been labeled as weird and different, and she doesn't think that's a reason for isolation - at her birthday party she doesnt understand why people aren't having fun. because, for her, this is fun!! - that same said party was immeditaly followed with her admitting "this isn't fun for me; i would like to stop" when it comes to the truth or dare game.
there are a bunch more examples. again, this just for a general idea to show where this idea is coming from
4. [according to the wiki] "Hailey is quite determined for a kid her age"
afab austistic people go underdiagnosed for reasons like this!!!
things that can SO be autisic are marked off as "mature" because a lot of austsim is masking OR traits that appear one way in amab appear differently in afab.
this idea of "determination" can tie into the special interest thing as mentioned before, or why austsic people are often shown as "selfish": because they want something, and don't understand the social repercussion of saying no.
5. as i mentioned, the list thing.
as generally mentioned, autistic people want a semblance of what to expect from something. when they don't get that, those feelings can cope in other ways.
in this show, hailey makes a list.
instead of trying something new, she just thinks 'oh i'll do that later!' and then DOESNT! :3
these are small things and obviously a headcannon, but it means a a lot to mean

7 Days for Fae
Coming October 2024
10-year-old Fae is isolated by her disabilities—autism and ataxia—that causes her communication and mobility issues. She doesn’t have any friends her age, and she’s accepted that. She reads a lot and plays pretend in the forest at the end of the street. Her family loves her for who she is and so far that’s been enough. Until, that is, she meets the new kid. His name is Brownie and for reasons Fae can’t imagine he wants to be her friend no matter how weird or awkward she is. When he still invites her over after a meltdown in class gets her suspended for a week, she decides to take a risk and accept. The ensuing adventures are marred only by the other sudden change in her life—an aunt Fae barely knows has moved in with her family. She doesn’t know how to talk to Fae and, worse, refuses to accept Fae’s nonbinary parent’s identity. But since no one else seems to know how to deal with the mess their home life has become, Fae tries—with Brownie’s encouragement—to sort the situation out herself.
Cold Iron
In 1956, Shakatra Zoawin is 40. Or they might be 20, depending on how you look at it. They are a changeling and their aging is kind of weird, but that doesn't matter to them because they have a good life in the subway tunnel with their brother, Kris. Both of them are changelings swapped as infants for human children and then rejected by their human families. Their wits and powerful magic have kept them alive this long, and Shaka is perfectly content to keep going. After they do one little thing to appease their guilt: find the 40-year-old they were swapped for and free her to have her own life in the human world free from servitude in the courts of the Fae. And so begins an adventure that will have repercussions neither of them could have imagined.
Intro posts for the books in this series: Cold Iron, City of Frost, Song on Repeat, and Future Not Found

Blades of Ice
In the kingdom of Halara, orcs and elms and slimes and centaurs live peacefully side-by-side with humans. Less peaceful is the relationship between Halara and their neighboring kingdom of Eng. The generation-long conflict has drawn in other nearby kingdoms and stagnated artistic and social works. All Aryel ever wanted to do was be left alone to love who they want and practice sparring with their axe, but as a royal child they have responsibilities, namely leading the entire army. There's no talk of ending the war in any way but victory, just as Halara won its initial freedom from Eng 300 years ago, but this endless fighting is getting them nowhere but too many funerals and not enough bread. And then when a familial tragedy leads to Aryel leading both the army and the kingdom, they know they can't balance the tensions and demands of everyone at once and win this war. Something has to give, and they just hope it isn't the entire kingdom.
Backburnered and still-in-planning WIPs under the cut.
Time Traveling Anthropologists
(permanent title coming soon)
Set approximately 2 generations in the future. Esther Dahan has her dream job. She gets to time travel with her new team, and against all historical odds they are there to study ancient cultures rather than do anything violent. Their first assignment is 8 months in the 9th century Jewish kingdom of Khazaria. Everything is going great—illicit romance with a Khazarian blacksmith notwithstanding—until Esther finds a plate that doesn't belong in this time. Curious and suspicious but without enough evidence to involve her boss, she investigates on her own, discovering much more than she planned—and leading to far worse consequences than she could have imagined.

To Die Among the Stars:
20 people have been chosen to test the effects of faster-than-light space travel on human minds and bodies. They were taken from prisons, wellness centers, and other areas where near-certain death seemed like a reasonable chance to take. Each have their reasons for being there, and their secrets. Against all odds, the jump to FTL doesn't destroy the ship. But the further away from Earth they travel, the more strange things begin to happen that call the purpose of the experiment into question. And then the impossible: a human distress signal in deep space.
Told from 4 rotating perspectives: Pixel, a semiverbal illegal human modder; Ri, whose body and mind are overloaded with mods; Zippy, a young disabled woman desperate to support her family; and Peppermint, a genetic experiment combining human and cat DNA raised in an isolated lab.

Falling Petals
A multigenerational story about trauma, love, and disability set against the backdrop of one Jewish family. Beginning in the 1920's with Ira Katz, who is brilliant and charming with no understanding at all of tact or why the best way isn't always blunt observations and mean jokes. It follows him as he grows up, marries, and inherits his father's drugstore, and then moves on to following one of his sons, Daniel. Daniel grows up in the 1940's and is naturally gentle, kind, and sensitive, but is treated so harshly for these traits he learns to hide himself away inside and only show emotion in explosive bouts of anger. It follows him through adolescence, college, and marriage, before moving on to one of his daughters, Shoshana. Shoshana grows up in the 1960's and is colorful, young for her age, and full of social panic. None of them know how to relate to each other or survive in a world that each of them see the beauty in but aren't allowed to connect with in their own way. And yet through the pain and confusion, they are full of love. And then everything changes for them with Shoshana's niece, Naomi, growing up in the 1990's, who will not be allowed to see herself as broken.

Why 3D Animation feels shitty now - a janky rant
With all the talk about how shitty Megamind 2 looks Ive been really on a kick of rewatching a lot of 3D classics, and since doing so I’ve been simply blown away by the quality of these films. I recently rewatched Ice Age: The Meltdown; which was a favorite movie of mine as a kid, but by the standards of the time it was released, it wasn’t all that crazy. It got a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes (not that it matters), but comparing it to a lot of today’s 3D features it’s nearly a perfect movie in my opinion. Somehow the animation and writing of this 2006 film feels higher quality than many 3D animated films now; the acting is incredible; the subtlety of the way these anthropomorphic characters react is literally so captivating and it feels so real it’s insane.
Obviously this is in part to our rapidly decaying media literacy, but the depth of some of these seemingly “goofy” kids films actually blows me away. What makes these movies land is the love that went into them; you can tell these people enjoyed the material they were working with.
The biggest difference to me nowadays is that 3D has been pushed so far that nobody really has to try anymore. When these films were coming out it was HARD to make 3D look good, so each subsequent movie that came out around the earlier days of 3D was designed to PUSH the limits of the software and you can tell that these movies were made with that goal in mind.
A great example is Pixar. “How do we make fur feel real?” individually model over 5 million strands of hair for Sully in Monsters Inc. “Water is tricky in 3D, how do we master it?”, make Finding Nemo; a movie almost entirely underwater. “How can we push the physics of character animation, capturing the fluidity of 2D in this new medium?”, The Incredibles; a movie with characters who are elastic, stretchy, bulky, fast, who have an insane number of costume changes, making the decision to have Violet wear her hair down; all things that 3D software had trouble emulating. “How close to realism can we really get with this?”, Wall-E. People were constantly PUSHING for something better; something that they could do differently.
Because the software has advanced so much, these things aren’t nearly as difficult as they used to be, and because of that it’s easier for generally “good” looking 3D films to be made faster but still look better than films made 20 years ago; so they don’t really have to try to make the writing complex, or make the characters feel unique, because at the end of the day, it “looks pretty”. I feel that 3D animation is still producing content on par with the standards of 3D 20 years ago; when it should be pushing 3D to its limits.
And there ARE films that do this; Into the Spiderverse, the new Puss in Boots, etc; but the ratio of films like these to films that commodify and “cheapen” 3D animation, particularly from multi million dollar studios, is embarrassing to the craft, and I think this is why we’re seeing people ask Disney for 2D features again, and why everyone seems to have a growing resentment towards 3D animation.
I hope this is coherent.
