#If the tag just said Harry Potter I might not have orphaned those fics

Hi Ivy! Had a silly question, and don't feel obligated to answer ... !!! But I was curious if anyone has ever a printed up a copy of The Quiet Man or made like a bound copy i could talk to? I was hoping to get one as this story means more to me than any other in the fandom and I truly do not want to lose it to the world of digital deletion.
Much love, 💋 liri
Hi there! Not a silly question at all! I don't 100% remember in fairness, but I don't believe that anyone's bound The Quiet Man. If someone knows that I'm wrong about that, please correct me!
Sorry I don't have a lead for you. I'm thrilled to hear that my story is important to you, that's a lovely thing to hear, thank you!
For what it's worth, I have no intention of deleting my fics. There's no reason I'd ever need to, they are in no danger. As long as AO3 exists, all my fics will exist on it.
I decided a while back to divest myself from my connection to the Harry Potter franchise. I didn't like seeing JK Rowling's name on my profile, it gave me the icks. So I orphaned them. I believe the URL for them remains the same. If ever I felt a need to distance myself from Sherlock, I'd probably just do the same. I'm not feeling inclined to orphan my Sherlock fics, though.
If you or anyone else wanted to bind The Quiet Man, you're more than welcome to do so as far as I'm concerned.

Themed Rec List | Voldemort-Raises-Harry Tomarrymort Recs
One of my favorite Tomarrymort themes is when Voldemort decides to raise Harry (perhaps to thwart the prophecy, or perhaps for other in-universe reasons, such as having shared soulmarks). Below is a selection of beloved fics where Voldemort is Harry's primary caretaker for some or all points during his childhood.
As always, please read the tags before reading any of these fics. There are some fluff and crack fics in this selection, but some of these do cover darker themes.
The flip side of Voldemort raising Harry is when Harry decides to raise Tom Riddle, so that will be the next batch of recs to accompany this one 🤍
*
Voldemort-Raises-Harry Tomarrymort Recs
Antedate by @duplicitywrites (T, 6k, complete)
From infancy, Tom Riddle had a habit of touching his left forearm. Just below the inside of the wrist, fingers trailing down the pale, sensitive skin, brushing along the visible veins right down to the ever-flickering black ink that signified— Signified what, exactly, Tom did not know, and by the time he was old enough to question it, he was also old enough to know better than to ask.
As Portioned from a Whole by @cannibalinc (E, 24k, WIP)
In which Lord Voldemort undermines the Prophecy and raises the infant Harry Potter as His; in all aspects.
Daddy Dearest by @katsitting (E, 24k, complete)
“But daddy, doesn’t it make you uncomfortable? Is that not the first thing you said when I walked in?” Harry began, leaning forward to plant his hands on either side of the desk.
Eulogy by @meles-merrivale (E, 6k, complete)
You run through the things you have to do for the day. It is, admittedly, a very short list. Wake up. Be clean. Be ready. An empty life, some might call it. You don’t. It is the life He has given you, and so it is what you deserve.
Exegesis by liquoricepantomime (M, 38k, WIP)
In exchange for peace, Voldemort asks for Harry Potter. And so, there is a new legacy that forms—of The-Boy-Who-Was-Sold, and his childhood spent in a castle, with a man who has killed his parents. A man who is mad, and whose ire reigns fiery hell. A man he will marry, and yet knows nothing about.
File A by Kushimani (E, 7k, complete)
In a different universe, one in which Voldemort wins, Voldemort finds eight-year-old Harry Potter in the basement of Fenrir Greyback and takes him in, not wanting Harry to go through what he himself had at the orphanage. Perhaps sending Harry there might have been for the best, as Voldemort finds himself having sinful dreams about the boy and terrible urges that he eventually cannot ignore any longer.
In Death, Standby by Sophisme (M, 94k, WIP)
After the infamous massacre of the Potters, young Harry Potter went missing. It doesn't really help that years later he turns up again, a bit darker, stranger and more erratic than anyone had hoped for. But Harry hardly cares, since in the end it's his decision on which side he will fight; Dark, Light or no side at all.
Like My Very Own Blood by @monsieurclavier (E, 13k, WIP)
Minister Riddle won his election in part because he took the extremely charitable path of adopting a war orphan—Harry Potter, the child of a historically Light family—and raising the boy as his own. It was an investment worth making... or it had been, until his quiet, clever son grew into a brilliant, scheming Omega determined to seduce his adoptive father by any means necessary.
Local Dark Lord Upstart Opens Bank Account, Inherits Millions by @duplicitywrites (T, 4k, complete)
A seventeen-year-old Tom Marvolo Riddle walks into Gringotts to open a bank account. The goblin teller says he needs to take an inheritance test before his coffers can flow with gold and his enemies can tremble before him...
Pale Shadow by @crowcrowcrowthing (E, 5k, complete)
Harry was seven years old, so he was much too old to be afraid of monsters. Especially when those monsters were nice and probably just wanted a friend.
The Cherished One by @acciotomriddle (E, 1.5k, complete)
Voldemort chose not to kill Harry that night in Godric’s Hollow, and decided to raise him instead.
They, of Riddle Manor by riddlereading (M, 16k, complete)
Tom Marvolo Riddle shows up at the front door of Riddle Manor, and Cecilia Riddle answers. It changes how Halloween 1981 normally plays out at the Potter house and the fate of the wizarding world as we know it.
This Is Why You Don't Summon Demons, Harry by Kushimani (E, 59k, complete)
Harry Potter is seven when he's left at the nearby church by Petunia to get an exorcism. He becomes curious about a book on the nearby bookshelf, and opens it. That leads to him summoning a demon that he makes a deal with. The demon, Voldemort, will protect him, and in return the demon will devour his soul when it is ripe.

fic writer interview
I was tagged by @burninghoneyatdusk and @andromedabennet thanks friends!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
As of right now, 46!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
I’m currently at 600,704 which is perhaps too many, considering I have schoolwork again 😅
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
I have written for six fandoms! Started off with Harry Potter and Captain America (though I have orphaned those fics so you won’t be seeing them again lolol). Then I got into Check, Please which is a very cute hockey webcomic, then The 100 (which is wildly a big reason why I’m in grad school right now so what does that say about me??), one Polin fic for Bridgerton, and I have written one thing for Sex Education because Otis and Ruby would not leave me alone after I watched season 3.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
And Why Mess Up a Good Thing (Check, Please!, Nurseydex) Five times Nursey swears nothing's going on between him and Dex, and one time Dex admits it
You’re Already Breaking My Heart (The 100, Bellarke) Clarke loved Finn first. She was friends with him before Raven even spared him a passing glance. But that was a secret she was going to take to the grave. Or so she thought. A To All the Boys I've Loved Before AU
A Twist of Fate (The 100, Bellarke) Clarke knows she’s not someone who’s destined to have a soulmate. It’s not in the cards for her, and it’s something she’s working on coming to terms with. Bellamy is ready to be over Gina, but isn’t sure he wants to rush into anything new. Too bad he can’t seem to stop running into the girl he brought home last weekend… In which Clarke and Bellamy have a one-night stand. And Clarke and Murphy have a podcast.
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? (Check, Please!, Nurseydex) Nursey prays that his so-called New Year’s curse doesn’t affect "Poindexter Siblings and their Significant Others New Year’s Game Night."
Best Kept Secret (Bridgerton, Polin) Colin and Penelope have been dating for a month and they're very happy together. They just haven't told anyone that they're dating yet. Probably because Colin's family is too nosy for their own good.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I definitely try to, though I always get behind. Engagement on my work is like moderate, at best, so I get excited to see any sort of comment and want to be excited with my readers. That being said there’s like 48 comments in my inbox right now. I promise I’ve read them, I just haven’t responded to them all yet!
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I guess it might be Show Me Yours, I’ll Show You Mine, a fic I wrote for Troped last year. I called it a modernization of Emori and Murphy’s first meeting meets Taylor Swift’s I Knew You Were Trouble video. It’s kind of angsty by accident because I originally planned to write another chapter but then that never really happened and I don’t see it happening so lol sorry to everyone that this fic ends not that happily.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
No, my brain simply does not work that way lol.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I wouldn’t say hate, but like some mild dislike of how I wrote things. In A Twist of Fate, Bellamy dates Echo for a good portion of the fic and someone felt the need to tell me they didn’t like how much Echo was in the fic. It’s properly tagged as minor Becho so it’s made clear what you’re getting into so that comment felt silly to me.
I also got a wild and very long comment on Cold-Blooded my silly Twilight AU where the commenter thought that Clarke realized Bellamy was a werewolf too soon and suggested that I should edit it so that it made more sense, then they basically went on to say how they thought the rest of the story should go. Don’t do this to people lmao. I already had that whole fic planned out so it’s not like I was going to change how it happened based on something one person said? If you feel that strongly, go write your own fic!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, but not often because I hate the process. I’m not one for smut, in fact if it’s in a story I will usually just kind of skim it. I’d say all my stuff is very vanilla, though I do have a couple smut scenes I know are coming in my Nemori arranged marriage fic where I am trying to spice things up a bit, though I think they’re still pretty standard. You probably won’t catch me writing much more of it since it really is a chore for me lol.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of?
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Also not that I’m aware of?
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Lmaoooo idk. I guess Memori is up there, but I don’t know that I’d say they’re my all-time favorite? Honestly, I’m not one to get too attached to ships normally. I guess for a long while I was super into Booth and Bones, but it’s not like I ever read fic for them. And of course I had my Chuck and Blair period as well. I’m pretty big into multi-shipping, so I’m not sure I have a good answer for this. I guess if we’re talking right now, if anybody hasn’t noticed Otis and Ruby from Sex Education are all I can think about lol.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Rip to the very short Nurseydex piece I should finish because it wouldn’t take me long, but I simply never will. I’m just kind of past writing for them. I’m worried I won’t finish my Bellarke Emma AU but I do kind of want to get back to it, because Murphy has not shown up yet and those who know me know that Frank Churchill (Regency's finest fuckboy) is weirdly one of my favorite characters, and I was really looking forward to writing Murphy in that role, so I think that might win me over to finish it eventually.
15. What are your writing strengths?
As a screenwriter, I hope I can say dialogue?? I feel like I’m decent at picking up on how characters talk and their speech patterns, which has also been helpful for writing spec scripts, not just fic! Similarly, another thing that is great for both fic and spec scripts is characterization. I’ve definitely gotten compliments on that before, and if I really like a character I’ll pay attention to how they move about the world and how they interact with others, and I think it always ends up coming off in a cool way.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’ve always felt pretty iffy on like worldbuilding. It’s definitely been weird to write so much fic for a sci-fi show when I am not well versed in writing that (but that’s why I mostly write modern AUs lol). I also don’t think I’m the best at description, but then again I tend to prefer when things are more straightforward anyway.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I guess I’ve never really thought about it? I probably won’t do it (unless it’s the Trig from fics I’ve already written) because I can only speak English fluently so it doesn’t seem like something that I could easily fit into anything I’d ever try to write.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
We’re very lucky the Glee fanfic I once found in an old notebook never saw the light of day. I almost once wrote a Downton Abbey fic in high school that would have been Sybil and Branson being penpals while she did her nurse training. But my first fandom that I actually posted something for was Harry Potter, though I only ever wrote the next-gen kids.
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I’m cheating and picking two, I have so many!
First is obviously We Don’t Need To Say It, my Memori actor AU. It is the longest fic I’ve ever written at over 100k words, and I also created an entire fake TV show out of it (that I have also written a pilot for) so a lot of work went into this one and I’m super proud of it. Also got a few new people into Memori, which was another win.
And second is my most recent fic which is all’s well that ends well to end up with you. It’s one of like 45 fics in the Otis/Ruby tag on AO3 (I guess 42 if you get rid of the ones that are actually Otis/Maeve). I just got a picture of Ruby and Otis reconnecting many years later and giving it another try and I had a lot of fun writing it/I have more ideas for other installments in that little future universe that I am NOT allowed to write until I get some more prompts done look at me Sam, I’m being responsible.
Tagging/saying hi: @hopskipaway | @useyourtelescope | @imunbreakabledude | @mobi-on-a-mission | @slyth-princess | @unremarkablegirl | @thelittlefanpire and whoever else wants to do it!

I’m going to do a weird.
I know a whole lot of us are stuck at home due to the COVID19 outbreak and all our respective governments attempting to flatten the curve. So I’m going to break out my VAST library of fanfiction recommendations for you to read! Please bear in mind that my tastes in fics are not necessarily like yours so the following 15 Fandom reccs might be hit or miss. All ships and above T ratings will be tagged with brackets, all crossovers will be mentioned in those same brackets. Also, if I mention it’s part of a series, I’m not just recommending the fic I mentioned, I’m recommending the whole series. I’ve tried to recommend a different author’s fic each time. So! Let’s start with the 3 fandoms I mention in my blog description.
1) ATLA Fate Deferred (Zutara) Aang remains in the iceberg ten years longer. Sozin’s comet comes, the world keeps turning with no Avatar to save it, and by the time he’s finally found by a waterbender and her Fire Nation husband, a lot has changed. [Zutara established relationship full series rewrite; Now on Book II: Earth]  Cheating at Pai Sho (Canon Divergence) “You said you were the Avatar!” “…I lied?” Aang doesn’t get rescued in episode two, and no one’s seen him go glowy yet… so he starts bluffing. Hard. Or: “The Avatar joins Zuko’s quest to find the Avatar.” In which Zuko doesn’t join the Gaang, the Gaang joins Zuko.  The Undying Fire: Blood and Fire (First in the Undying Fire Series, eventual Zutara) Book 1. In which rescuing the Avatar from Pohuai Stronghold doesn’t end so well. It’s a tough life being a banished prince trying to get home, especially when the Avatar just wants to be your friend and keeps making everything confusing. Oh, and did Zuko mention he somehow healed the kid? Yeah, that happened. Stalking Zuko (First in the Stalking Zuko Series, eventual Zutara) Katara has developed a new hobby. At the Western Air Temple she takes to stalking Zuko. Much silliness and shenanigans follow. In chapter 20: Katara and Zuko return home to the others. Katara hates the F word and she comes to a decision regarding Zuko.  Embers (Canon divergence) Dragon’s fire is not so easily extinguished; when Zuko rediscovers a lost firebending technique, shifting flames can shift the world…  2) Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Father (Percabeth in the GFFA, eventual Anidala) It all started with a wish, but because it was Percy Jackson it couldn’t have been a friendly goddess granting him a wish. No, it had to be Nemesis, goddess of revenge and balance. Now Percy and Annabeth are stuck in a strange new galaxy right when an ancient and powerful darkness finally begins to stir.  Glass Figures (MCU Mashup) I lifted my gun, pointing it towards the minefield of shattered fragments, and kicked the small coffee table out of the way.Only to stare down at an awfully familiar face, which split into a somewhat lopsided grin. The intruder raised his hands in a mocking surrender. //“Long time no see, dude.” //I lowered the gun. “What the hell are you doing in South Peru?” //Or in which Clint Barton and Percy Jackson have a long personal history that starts in high school. All Together, Cousins (Canon divergence) When Thalia ran away with her toddler brother, Jason, she slowly gathered her cousins: she and her cousins being Big Three children. As Jason gets older and their motley group expands to six, Thalia resigns herself to the fact that she won’t always be the leader of the pack. As she accepts that, something more is coming, able to challenge even the gods above. A Crown of Golden Leaves (Historical AU) Annabeth, a Lady from the declining polis of Athens, must marry the Heir Apparent of Rome to save the rapidly expanding world from a threat even the gods couldn’t foresee.  Deluge (Percy in the Arrowverse) Barry has to deal with yet another Metahuman that Zoom has pitted against him. But this ‘Metahuman’ is an unwilling pawn in Zoom’s plan and really wants to find a way around killing the Scarlet Speester. But how can he when Zoom is holding something against him?
3) DC Firework (First in the Sparks in the Dark Series) Orphaned and removed from the only life he’s ever known, Dick feels like there’s no light left for him in the world. His new benefactor, however, still sees something worth saving… Chronological beginning of the Spark in the Dark series.   Iron, Fire, Mirror-Glass After a brutal confrontation with Bane, Bruce comes away with a broken spine and the certainty that his days as Batman are over. An unexpected discovery offers him another chance—but at what price? The story of a man who risks his soul for the sake of his mission, the dangerous creature he names Robin, and the unlikely partnership that will shape the legend of Gotham’s Dark Knight.  Get Back Up There was a mole, one who played a long game. The team was betrayed, crushed. Robin nearly died. What are they going to do now? Only one chirped the answer. Get back up. WARNING: lots of talking, little action, many follow ups  Five Times …Five times Damian thought of Dick Grayson as his father, and the one time Dick thought of Damian as his son. Future-fic. YJ characters will show up later. Batman!Dick and Damian as Robin. With guest appearances from Jason, Tim, Cass, and Steph.  Unveiling the Mystery Series of one-shots about the team learning a little about Robin (Dick Grayson).   With all the fics, I heavily suggest you also read what else these authors have to offer in their archive.
And now here’s the plethora of other fandoms I read fics in under the cut!
4) Harry Potter The Horse (Mature) Looking after a Muggle animal should be easy compared to saving Hogwarts from Voldemort. Harry and Draco might disagree with that. Featuring Luna, Marauders, peppermints and, of course, a tall, black, badtempered horse named Simon. The Potions Master’s Nephew An accident occurs and Professor Snape finds himself trapped in his fifteen-year-old body. Enrolled into Harry Potter’s fifth year, he is forced to hide his true identity. Girls, drama and teenage angst do not bode well with Severus. Keeping Up with the Grangers (Dramione, Mature) Mr. Malfoy, I invite you and your mother to tea next Tuesday, May 25th at 2o’clock to discuss recent events. Dr. Helen Granger //…  …// He glances at the boxy too-uniform numbers flashing on the face of Richard’s radio. It’s nearly noon, and he should be getting ready to leave; but there is still a harsh tension in his shoulders and neck that he wants to work out before Hermione finds him. It is, after all, Tuesday; and while his Tuesdays were designated ‘tea with Helen’ days previously, they are now ‘lunch with Granger’ days, ever since the chance meet-up with the Weasel’s wife and the insufferable swot herself. Faceless (Dramione, Mature) New year. New love. New threat. A powerful enemy is on the rise, and Hermione Granger finds herself intertwined in a relationship with Draco Malfoy – only she doesn’t know it’s him. / / RUNNER-UP: Enchanted Awards Summer 2017 for Best Relationship Development
5) Devil May Cry And the Rest is Silence (Mature) The destruction of the Saviour wasn’t the end. Too many people had too much invested.  An Uncle’s Thoughts Dante’s thoughts and feelings regarding one particular quarter-demon kid. Vignettes that span from the start of Devil May Cry 4 through Devil May Cry 5, and beyond. Fortuna’s Fool Events after DMC5 with flashbacks to the events we briefly see in DMC4SE only with Vergil telling Dante all about Nero’s mother. Family ties are so complicated, aren’t they? Family of Happenstance Some orphans have happy endings, getting adopted or finding their family. Having a demon slaying half devil for a father tends to throw a tiny monkey wrench in the process. AU Father!Dante, Son!Nero. Rated because hunters don’t exactly have clean mouths.
6) Power Rangers (Focus on Might Morphin’ and Dino Thunder teams) Of Love and Bunnies Set just after Dino Thunder. When Angel Grove announces another Power Rangers Day, Tommy takes the Dino Rangers to Angel Grove for a reunion with the original team… including Kimberly. TommyKim, JasonTrini, KiraTrent. The Reason (Part 1 of eclyptyk neo‘s Dino Thunder AU) COMPLETED. DT. AU. Years go by as Tommy Oliver becomes accustomed to his job as a teacher. A person from his past returns. The new ranger team grows interested in its outcome. How will these new changes between rangers young and old be? Sequel: Ordinary World Change of Hearts (Wild Force)   PRWF: When Jindrax and Toxica set out to find themselves, they had no idea that their greatest adventure was only beginning. Chronology Conundrum DT/MMPR - After a strange mutation is released in Reefside, the five Dino Thunder Ranges find themselves thrown back into the past, circa 1995 Angel Grove. Somehow, they have to figure out how to make it back to their present without destroying it or themselves. And if they succeed, they must navigate the consequences of their actions in the past, while still protecting Reefside. 7) Merlin (Mergana leaning) The Other Version of Events What if Merlin and Arthur had met when they were children? What if a mysterious illness fell over Ealdor and Merlin was blamed? What if Arthur had actually felt sorry for him? What if destiny was thrown at them in a whole new way? AU, no slash, Bromance, A/G M/M… You get the idea.  Flipping the Coin, Part 2 of Coins (2nd story in the Coins Sage but 1st multichapter) Merlin and Gwaine are sent on an adventure to discover their past and stay one step ahead of Morgana. Fearing for them, Arthur and the other knights set out to find them, but soon discover much more than they bargained for. Alt version Season 5. Sequel to “Two Sides of the Coin” Angst, Adventure, BAMF, Bromance, Redemption, Twists on Arthurian Legends.  The King’s Legacy “I hope you are rolling in your grave brother, I will find your son, and I hope he is like you. I will ruin him and gain a lovely weapon in the process.” Cenred spat on the grave, “I win Balinor.” .Sequel posted.  The Warlock’s Quickening (First in the Albion Cycle) Merlin might have come to Camelot to master his magic, not to end the Purge, but he’s not going to sit idly by while his kin suffer. Oh no. Whether it’s releasing a chained dragon, smuggling sorcerers out of the city, or trying to change Arthur’s mind, he’s fighting back. Now. Series rewrite beginning after 1X02 featuring Proactive!Merlin. AU.
8) Dragon Ball Under the Radar (Gohan/Videl) Gohan is living life as a secret superhero, but Videl is making it her business to find him out! How will Gohan manage her and Saiyan hormones? Will he fess up? Or will he try to live his life -puts on sunglasses- “Under the Radar”? *applause* Thank you! Thank you! And GOODNIGHT! G/V obviously. Rated T because adult situations and language in later chapters. COMPLETE! Golden God (Mature) To save the lives of millions, Gohan is forced to expose himself as a Super Saiyan, proving that his tricks are indeed very real. And it drives the whole world to insanity. Warning; becomes a little graphic goes as it on. Walking Towards the Sunset Bardock’s curse sends him to a mysterious place where weaklings are abundant and an odd trio claim to be his family. Eventually giving in, he stays with them to discover that Earth is more unlucky than Planet Vegeta. Impatiently waiting for his son’s arrival, Bardock has to survive a new life with his estranged family and a certain girl set on finding the truth. (Saiyaman-Buu Saga) Plus One (Gohan/Videl, Mature) Tired of being pursued by the gold-digging, glory-seeking, Satan obsessed freaks of the world, Videl will resort to the only method open to a celebrity like her to find Mr. Right. 9) Sailor Moon (Mainly SenshiShitennou) The Crystal Age (Rewritten) In an alternate version of Season 1, as a result of Beryl’s curse at the end of the Silver Age, Tuxedo Mask and the reincarnated Shitennou are fighting a losing battle to save the city and find the lost princess. Sailor Moon has disappeared, Sailor V is working on her own, and the other Senshi are still just ordinary girls. Sequel to The Silver Age. MxU, SxS. Please R&R. Hooligans It’s after Galaxia and time for University. The Senshi and Mamoru settle into life in Great Britain and meet some old friends. Inner Senshi x Shitennou and Usagi x Mamoru. Modern Timeline. Strong language, crude humour, hilarity and sexual situations abound, be warned, there will be some heavy angst later on too. Never Gone R A single choice can change the course of Fate: a choice, say, like waking up on time. If that choice were made, Chiba Mamoru would never meet Tsukino Usagi; but, he WOULD meet Unami Seiya and the burden of Terra’s future would fall onto his shoulders. Never Gone AU. The Dinner Hour (Part of The Dinner Series) It can be hard to be patient in the face of eternity. But good things come to those who search and refuse to give up on their dreams. R/J. (Sequels: Dinner And Again, Dinner at Last completed!)
10) Les Miserables (Warning: Enjonine ahead) When Apollo Met Persephone (1st of the 1830s AU) The revolution, or at least the first part of it succeeds. Enjolras confronts political and personal realities. Eponine is suddenly faced with more opportunities than she ever thought. Can they guide each other in a world that needs them as much as they need it? Les Choses Qui Sont Arrivées Après “You must flee Paris at once.” Enjolras and Eponine. The thief and the leader, the marble Apollo and the dark street girl… two wholly different survivors of the Revolution are forced together under a dangerous circumstance. Can they successfully fight their demons as well as each other? Neither of them knows quite what is going on, or what will happen when they figure it out.     Teacher of Man The first time Enjolras and Éponine meet, it is their wedding day. (arranged marriage AU) My Best Friend’s Wedding Éponine Thenardiér always thought that Marius would eventually come back to her, until the wedding invitation came in the mail. Now she is going to do everything that she can to get him back from that blonde tart Cosette. Nothing goes according to plan and even her partner in crime Enjolras is becoming an obstacle. E/E. 11) Naruto Beginnings  Naruto was six years old when he met the man who changed his life. …Now he’s kind of just hoping he survives it.  An Inch of Gold (Part of the Legacy of Fire series) Team 7 is sent on a mission to investigate a disturbance outside of the village, where they encounter an unconscious girl in a crater. The mysterious Sarada insists she’s a shinobi from the Hidden Leaf trying to rescue her teammates. When the team discovers she possesses a Sharingan, things become even more unbelievable. [Part of the Legacy of Fire Series]     Guilt of Innocence Uchiha Sasuke abandoned Konoha in his persute of power to join Orochimaru. However, this was only a cover story. In fact, on Tsunade’s orders, Sasuke is to act as Konoha’s spy within Otogakure. One agreement and his path had changed forever…  Blind (SasuSaku) It was almost time, Orochimaru was going to take his body as a vessel. He hated being used…he refused to be used. With that thought, he took the kunai in his hand and slashed across his eyes.
12) Legend of Zelda (Zelink) The Conviction to Save The princess is dead. Those are the words being whispered in the streets. A great shudder sweeps across the land of Hyrule as news of its beloved monarch’s passing spreads like wildfire. In the midst of the ensuing chaos, a humble village doctor happens upon the body of a gravely injured young woman on the road. Legend of the Miraculous (Concepts taken from Miraculous Ladybug)   A legend retold through many a tale, but when a darkness resurfaces after so long, Athena and Sheikhan Wolf must return again! Will Link and Zelda be able to combat this threat? and will they figure out each others’ identities? Come inside and take a look! Hit List AU. It all started as a typical day at Ordon High, until a sudden school shooting turns the life of Link Hero upside down. Now, surrounded by enemies, can Link save his friends and escape the school alive? (Edit 10/2015) Counting Stars Link finds himself caught in the middle of an elaborate gang war. Lucky for him, being a B-list superhero makes that predicament a tiny bit easier. / Modern AU ZeLink, inspired by Spider-Man. Wait RWBY are supposed to be underdogs? Jaune fits the underdog type since he is essentially a civilian who forced his way in. Weiss had privilege and a military sister to train her. Blake, Ren, and Nora all grew up in rough situations, but by the story start they were not underdogs. Ruby and Yang have hunter families so they go sufficient training.
Tumblr media
It’s admittedly not a pure version of the trope, but I still read elements of it there---which is very common in fantasy. Who will defeat the greatest dark wizard to ever live? Will it be the equally powerful and famous Albus Dumbledore? Nope. It’s going to be a kid who grew up in a muggle household and who, according to Voldemort himself, has no extraordinary magical talent. Who will defeat the greatest evil to plague Middle Earth? Will it ultimately be the skilled huntsmen destined to be king? Nope. It’s going to be two hobbits that no one gives a second glance.
Harry Potter and LotR are decent comparisons to my mind because, like RWBY, the cast also has elements of special-ness about them. Harry is the Chosen One, Hermione is the smartest witch of her age, Ron comes from an old and powerful family (their financial situation aside). I don’t know LotR lore like others, but there we’ve got a host of lineages including Aragon’s, Boromirs, Pippin’s (from what I’ve gathered here on tumblr), Gandalf is a crazy powerful wizard, we’ve got an important dwarf, an elf, even Frodo is special by virtue of being a Baggins. In some respect they were all destined for this, yet we simultaneously see the Fellowship and the Golden Trio functioning as underdogs against the Big Bad. A group of three students against a dark lord? A rag-tag group that argues and fails and still needs to grow? Part of the joy of these stories isn’t in how our protagonists compare to others, but rather how they compare to their opponent. They’re the underdogs when pit against such odds and it’s the underdog of the group---Harry instead of powerful Dumbledore; Frodo and Sam instead of kingly Aragon---who deals the final blow.
I think we can view RWBY in a similar way. Yes, there’s a lot special about them, much of which I’ve mentioned before: Ruby has silver eyes, Yang is now the daughter of a Maiden, Weiss is privileged, Blake comes from a powerful family, so does Jaune, etc. If we choose to view them through that lens they don’t look like underdogs. But that’s only one part of their characterizations. We can also ask, who is going to defeat Salem? Will it be Ozpin, the man from another version of humanity, with over a thousand years of fighting experience, and literal magic at his fingertips? Nope. It’s going to be a very young girl, her sister, a woman who has lost her title, a former extremist, a guy who had to sneak his way into school, two orphans, and a farm hand.
As said, it’s not a pure version of the trope, but I think there are still aspects there. All of which is just to say I don’t want to lose any more of that underdog-ness to Ruby suddenly having a Super Special semblance on top of having silver eyes, or Weiss coming into the Maiden powers, etc. Frodo and Sam didn’t defeat Sauron because they gained a bunch of epic knowledge and skills. Harry didn’t defeat Voldemort because he (like we often see in fics) discovered some special snake magic/trained in muggle martial arts/got into an accident that gave him unfathomable power. The casts might all be special in their own ways, but those stories are ultimately still about determination, sacrifice, and love. In the same way, I don’t want RWBYJNR to defeat Salem because they just keep amassing new powers/embodying secret reveals about their lineage until they’re as badass as she is. I’d like to keep the underdog aspect of, “A group of teens up against a thousand-year-old, magic wielding, immortal Big Bad... and the teens win.”

Tomarry please! Can you do an A/B/O wings au where they're both omegas who turn the conventional trope upside down? So much love for your awesome writing!
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Tomarry
Tags: Wing fic, A/B/O, BAMFs, Sexism, Heteronormativity, in a way, Secondary Genders, Breaking Gender Roles, Modern Day, Power Couple, They Don’t Want Kids,
Everyone knew that Omegas were not strong physically. It was a fact that the Omegan population had to come to terms with centuries ago.
In fact, many things had been pressed upon the shoulders of all Omegas since the beginning of their species.
Omegas are slight in frame.
The do not possess great physical strength.
Their wings are thin and fragile, and incapable of lifting them off the ground.
Omegas are fair in appearance, and are meant to be delicate.
An Omega should always allow themselves to be protected.
Omegas do not do harm to others unless it is to protect their offspring.
Omegas are kind and maternal.
They are meant to bear the children, that is why they have wombs.
Omegas should not mate with Omegas.
They must never refuse a possible suitor and must be won fairly.
When won, they are not to refuse the victor their right.
On and on the list went. And the mad thing about it was that society thought it was okay. Very few people thought outside the box and decided to ignore social convention.
The way Omegas were treated had been what always angered Tom Marvolo Riddle. Tom didn’t mind his attractive face. He liked what he could get out of people by playing on their borderline hypnotised thought processes. After all, society pushed their disgusting beliefs down everyone’s throat for centuries, brainwashing people into thinking only one way.
The sheep didn’t realise how easily manipulated they were, and to an extent Tom preyed upon that. But it always came back on him in some way.
He was considered abnormal for an Omega. He grew taller than any Omega he or other orphans had ever seen. His voice changed during puberty instead of staying bell-like as was expected. His wings, which were an inky black, were full and had a span of 670cm. They also were strong enough to allow him to fly like Alphas.
Many believed he was a failed Alpha, if he didn’t have the womb of an Omega and the unfortunate bi-annual Heats. He didn’t fit the criteria of a Sigma either.
Tom’s experiences made him detest society and their treatment of people like him. He was meant for greater things. And there was no way in hell that some stigma crated eons ago, would control his life. People would learn one way or another.
And thankfully he had magic on his side. So while he might not be powerful physically like some brute, he had magical power many could only dream of. And that would get him to where he should be. Tom Riddle rolled over for no one.
The thing about Harry Potter was that he fit almost all boxes for the Omegan appearance. He was 167cm tall, very thin, his dark hair shined and was silky, his voice didn’t really deepen but got a little raspy, and he had perfect skin. Harry looked like the perfect Omega on the surface. His wings weren’t feathered, but instead leathery, thin, and translucent. Delicate. Only the length of his body.
But… not all was as it appeared. Those wings, while they appeared weak, were incredibly flexible and he could fly with them! And Harry, who’d learned that he was magical when he was eleven, also learned why he was abnormally strong.
His magic was saving him. His relatives weren’t the greatest. They didn’t like him and let it be know very well. His cousin attacked him often and once broke his arm. The next time he tried the same way, he couldn’t manage it and Harry managed to break his arm instead.
Omages shouldn’t be capable of that. He’d gotten in a lot of trouble for it too.
But it revealed something. Harry was very strong. And when he got to Hogwarts, he learned why.
His magic had done it to protect him. Starvation was countered by magic acting as sustenance. Injuries were repaired by his magic and then the particular area was made stronger. Madam Pomfrey had said something about ‘bones of iron’. He didn’t know if it mean this skeleton was actually made of iron now, or was just as strong as iron, and he didn’t care.
Harry was strong.
And not just physically. He was also magically powerful, capable of topping almost every student by sheer mass of power alone. Save for another.
Another Omega. One who also broke the mould like him.
One who treated Harry like he was genuine competition instead of turning up his nose at Harry for being different or for being an Omega. Because while many tried to deny it, there was an intense amount of disrespect to Omegas from Alphas and the like.
Sexism at its finest really. Of the Secondary Genders, Omegas got the worst, which was odd considering Sigmas were basically Alphas with Omegan abilities, but those that were discovered got preferential treatment? Harry didn’t think it was fair. No one cared what he thought however.
Anyway, Harry thought the way he was treated for his Secondary Gender was shite, and made sure that other people knew it, whether they took him seriously or not.
Apparently being a celebrity only worked in your favour when you pandered to everyone’s assumptions.
And he’d never even asked to be famous to begin with.
The whispers were loud. People looked scandalised because something unheard of was happening.
Harry Potter and Tom Riddle, Gryffindor and Slytherin, two Omegas, were kissing under the mistletoe.
It was certainly a shock, especially to the ‘purists’ who couldn’t seem to think for themselves and simply lapped up the codswallop they’d been taught for centuries.
And Tom and Harry reveled in it. And no one dared attack them or speak up, because both were the best in the school. Both shattered expectations and were proud to lord their skills over everyone in return for the treatment their Secondary Gender received.
Also, Tom Riddle was sadistic to a level Omegas shouldn’t be, and many had learned not to anger him. So it was safest for them to remain silent, if they wanted to keep their wings safe.
The last person that had angered Riddle - by attacking Potter - had turned up with their primaries clipped too far down, and they mercilessly pinioned improperly. They had permanently lost the ability to fly. No proof had existed to get Riddle in trouble, but they weren’t stupid. He didn’t try to hide his amusement after all.
Basically, they had to deal with it or else.
And both Omegas loved every moment of it.
Also, neither liked kids, so it wasn’t as if they were needed.
A/N: A/B/O fics are always great. Sigmas are my creation. I have an entire Series of fics using them on AO3. Check out the info on the Sigmaverse if you’d like. Also check the stories if you want.
Anyway, I really love ruining expectations in A/B/O fics. I have the same view on soulmate fics. Doing the unexpected is my fav course of action.
I liked this prompt. ^-^

What I want from (Fan)fiction
I love fanfiction, but good Lord is it hard to find good stuff in any fandom.  I haven’t counted, but my guess is that only about 10% of works in any fandom are high quality, and the rest range from “okay, I can read this” to “holy fuck, this sucks so badly I now hate this pairing.”  Of course, some of it is personal preference.  There are tropes I can’t stand that other people love, and that’s great!  Diversity is important.  This is my list of things that I want from fanfiction.  A lot of this applies to all fiction.  I start with tips that I feel many readers would agree with, and end with my personal preferences that I know people disagree with.  Specific fandoms mentioned here are DS9, Orphan Black, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones.
1) Use the characters’ names, and use them in the way that they’re used in the original material.  No one in Harry Potter called Minerva McGonagall “Nerva,” so you shouldn’t, either.  Besides, it sounds silly.  Call her Minerva.
Also, avoid referring to the characters by their characteristics unless absolutely necessary.  In a scene with Cosima and Delphine, avoid referring to them as “the brunette” and “the blonde.”  If I’m reading Cophine fanfic, I know damn well what color their hair is.  Besides, the names are mostly just convenient tags to let the reader know who’s doing what, to help with the movie playing along in our brains.  Adding in extra markers takes the focus away from the action.  I understand you’re trying to avoid redundancy, but it ends up a little confusing.
“Cosima gasped as the blonde rolled on top of her.”  This makes me wonder if a third woman joined the action.  Just say Delphine rolled on top of her - it’s more clear.
2) The majority of your speech tags should be said or asked.  It’s okay to throw in an occasional “she yelled” or “he gasped,” but keep those to a minimum, and only use as appropriate.  Speech tags, like names, are mostly to tell the reader who said what.  You don’t even need them a lot of the time if there are only two people speaking.  Using creative and unnecessary speech tags, again, takes the reader away from the main action or message.
3) Tighten your writing.  Specifically:
- Avoid excessive modifiers and prepositional phrases.  “She spat with vemon” should be shortened to “she spat” unless of course there is literal venom involved, in which case, remove the “with.”  “He frowned sadly,” is redundant.  How else would he frown?  “She thought to herself.”  Well, who else is she going to think to?
- In general, if you can take words out without changing the meaning of the passage, take those words out.  One way I’ve found to do this is by giving myself a page or word limit that’s a little bit shorter than what I already have.  If the draft is 3,000 words, I try to make it 2,500.  Going back to point #1, using the characters’ names helps with this.  “Odo” reads more quickly than “the shapeshifter.”
4) PROOFREAD YOUR SHIT!  Proofread it yourself a day or two after you finish, and then get someone else to proofread it.  None of us can catch all of our own errors by ourselves, but we need to make sure it’s as clean as possible before sending it out into the world.  Proofread especially for the following:
- Verb tense.  Past tense is the most common, but the most important thing to watch for is consistency.  I read a fic yesterday where the writer switched randomly into present tense halfway though, then went back to past.  There was no time travel or flashbacks involved, just sloppy writing, and it took me out of an otherwise interesting story.
- Check your spelling.  We’ll forgive the stray typo here and there, and some of us won’t even notice if you misspell “achieve,” but if you spell Kira’s given name as Niris, you’re showing that you don’t care about details.
5) Use accurate and appropriate language.  I’ve lost count of the number of DS9 fics in which Major Kira “stomps” around the station.  I can’t remember her ever stomping on the show, though.  She strode, sashayed, walked, ran, jogged, limped, and (maybe) marched.  She might have even bounced or skipped, but she never stomped.  Stomping is what children do when they’re angry.
Similarly, don’t get too creative with names for body parts.  Don’t use “digits,” use “fingers.”  When discussing breasts, never, EVER call them orbs, globes, or mounds.
6) Be true to the characters.  I know the point of fanfiction can be to stretch the boundaries of canon fiction, but if you go too far from the canon characters, you create entirely new characters who happen to have the same names.  This doesn’t mean you can pair them up in canonically unrealistic ways.  Garak and Captain Sisko can certainly have a tumble in Garak’s dressing room without either of them leaving character.  This includes physical traits as well as personality.  Some examples of what to avoid:
- Odo fucks Kira in the middle of a staff meeting, and she is pleasantly surprised.  No one is upset about this.  None of this is in character.
- Kira has massive breasts.  In the show, Kira’s breasts are lovely (from what we can see), but they are not large.
7) Okay, so this one relates to #6, but might apply more to me than anyone else.  I don’t like AUs.  I just saw one that had Cosima as an actress, and another with Delphine as a kindergarten teacher.  Guys.... they are both SCIENTISTS.  That is a critical piece of their characters, not only professionally, but in terms of how they see and interact with the world around them.  Similarly, Jaime Lannister is a soldier and a nobleman.  He is not a musician.  Brienne is not a fangirl.  You can be inspired by characters and put elements of them into your own original work, but if you change too much about them, they are not the characters you say they are.
Of course, some people love AUs.  If you like AUs, great, keep writing and reading them!  They are obviously popular (about half of the Cophine fics I saw just yesterday were AUs).  For me, though, you have to really sell me on your concept before I’ll even click the link.
Amendment to #7) This doesn’t apply to divergent plot lines within the original universe.  Some of the best stories I’ve read follow the pattern of “What if [plot point] had turned out differently?”  These keep the characters in character.  What if Kira hadn’t died in “Children of Time?”  What if Cosima had never been self-aware?  What if Hermione were killed in book seven?  What if Brienne found Sansa Stark and they went on adventures together?  All of these work because they keep the characters in character.
What if Harry were a muggle?  That works less for me.  Being a wizard is too integral to who Harry is as a person.  Still, if you write it well, I might give it a shot, provided that most everything else stays true to the Potterverse we know and love.
8) It’s okay to use a foreign language I don’t know, as long as it’s realistic.  I don’t speak French, but Delphine does, so having her cry out French phrases during sex totally fits, and is better than having her do it in English.  I can figure out the meaning from context.  If characters are having a conversation in a foreign language, and the exact meaning is critical to the story, there are a few ways to handle that:
- One way is to have them speaking in, say, French, with each other, and then have a third character ask for a recap or summary.
- Have a footnote somewhere translating the lines into English (or whatever the primary language of the piece is).
- Have everything in English (or the primary language), but somehow signal to the reader that they have switched into French.  Maybe use italics and have a third character point out that they aren’t not speaking English anymore.
Do not assume that your readers DON’T understand the foreign language you’re using, or that we all want an immediate translation.  Repeating the same message in English immediately after giving it in French slows down the pace of the story, and is literally redundant.
