I can't tell him, though - how could I? - so I turn back around, jump the steps, open the door, and go inside without looking back.”

“She smiles, touches my arm. ‘Don’t be sad.’ She says it so warmly, it makes the air change color.”

“Later that evening, Jude and I are shoulder to shoulder at the window. Dad's walking to his car carrying a suitcase. The rain's wailing down on him, stooping him more and more with every step.

‘I don't think there's anything in it,’ I say, watching him toss the piece ofluggage into the trunk like it's filled with feathers. ‘There is,’ she says. ‘I checked. One thing. A drawing of you and him on some weird animal. Nothing else. Not even a toothbrush.’

These are the first words we've exchanged in months. I can't believe the only thing Dad took with him is me.”

I’m rereading I’ll Give You The Sun and in the first chapter Jude and Noah’s mom calls them “NoahandJude” but their dad says “Jude, Noah” because they are two separate human beings and I think that’s really special

Bleak, depressing, and annoying. Those were the first words that came into my mind as I crawl and scratch through the pages. . I found the first two hundred pages of this book quite difficult to read. Maybe because I was expecting it to focus on gay romance rather than the story of the twins themselves; or probably because I felt the bottled up emotions of the protagonists of the story and I hated each of their emotions as they came pouring out to me. .
