wishing people would understand (and advertisers would stop giving the impression) that herbal remedies don't actually work like fantasy potions where you have a Symptom and they magically target that Symptom specifically-- they work exactly like pharmaceutical medicines but at a less concentrated scale, and it can interact poorly with them if you are already using them.
ashwagandha doesn't "lower your anxiety", it reduces your cortisol levels, which can in turn lower your blood pressure and interact with other adrenal and BP meds. ginkgo doesn't "help you think", it dilates your blood vessels and is an anti-platelet, which increases cerebral bloodflow but can interact with other circulatory meds. grapefruit seed extract is an incredible antifungal but it will inhibit enzymes that break down many types of medication and lead to blood toxicity of those meds.
i've worked in this industry since before insta/tiktok was a major force in advertising for it and i've watched the swing from people generally being educated about this niche thing they have come in to buy to "i saw on tiktok that this will give me energy"
.... will it? have you had bloodwork done? are you adequately absorbing your nutrition? are you getting sunlight? stop being scammed by symptom-centric buzzwords. anything that promises it will give you energy or help you focus or whatever else hinges entirely on your body chemistry fitting very certain criteria and a lot of people end up disappointed when that cordyceps did nothing for them when it turns out they're low on stomach acid and not synthesizing their B vitamins correctly or something else that is way above my paygrade to determine.
the american healthcare system is a shitshow and people often have no choice but to take their treatments into their own hand, but "natural remedies" want your money just as bad as "big pharma" and it's up to the individual to do their epistemological due diligence when treating themselves. godbless.

my personal fav at home nails using the artme yoko matsuda nails. after doing a classic mani sans polish, you apply a dehydrator and primer to prep nail for gel. then you apply builder gel to your natural nail and cure. then you apply that same builder to the nail extension after etching it using an electric drill or acetone. marry the gel to your nail and cure. then just shape to your liking and top with uv top coat. tutorial here
Acrylic Nails ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks, nails are fully grown out after 6 weeks
manicure done with liquid monomer and acrylic powder to build and extend natural nail, then polished with color or just a top coat if desired
Russian Mani ❤︎︎

essentially a gel manicure, but more invasive. the eponychium is snipped away so polish can be applied more closely and flush to the cuticle. this aids in visuals and longevity
service is seen as risky because the skin is more susceptible to fungal or bacterial infection. this is actually how i do my nails at home.

ipl device - a device that uses light therapy to slowly destroy hair follicles and unwanted pigment in skin. i use mine after every 5-6 shaves but i could really use it more often.

a “facial” for your lady area
the esthetician will first wax, then cleanse and apply an enzyme exfoliant. then they extract any blackheads or ingrown hairs from the area before applying a soothing mask usually in the jelly form.

body oil - daily to seal in moisture and protect skin from debris and dryness
masks - weekly to address particular skin concerns

when making appointments with your “glam squad” you can stagger your services by week depending on what’s being done. for example you can get your mani and pedi done one week. then your facials, brows and lashes another week.
Things to Keep in Mind 💭💞:
these frequencies won’t be the same for everyone depending on personal wants, budgets, etc. but will most likely land somewhere in the ranges i gave. if you need touch ups or redos any sooner than i mapped out, then the service most likely was of poor quality.
anything done at home may or may not be up to the level of detail and longevity as salon or spa work. if you see yourself doing the majority of your beauty maintenance at home, this can save money but may end up taking more time than professional services. so it’s a give and take.

Humans and our insane biology
My 2nd entry to humans are space orcs.
So, I've always seen in movies that the intergalactic version of healing is via cryopads or filling an entire space tube with some sort of liquid and just chucking the entire person inside to heal for an indefinite amount of time depending on the severity of their injury.
Now, humans don't have the luxury of that. I can sorta theorized that the medical stuff the aliens use would include the use of nanites or galactic medicinal herbs that would speed up the healing process, bumping up a supposedly 10 years of physical rehabilitation and recovery to a few months at most and to those who get the quality herbs, then a few weeks.
Seeing as Earth would be seen as a deathworld, a term I've been seeing for planets that hold life forms but is seen as a hostile planet to other other galactic race, they would be baffled by the slowness of our healing process.
They might think, "Their planet is harsh so their healing process must be very fast". And they're half correct with that assumption. Even the most ill of humans can fight back on a lot of health issues even with minimal medical support.
Infection? Increased white blood cells and even developing a fever to kill this micro invaders via increased body temperature. The body not getting oxygen? Body falls into tachypnea or breathing too fast to get more oxygen. Any feelings of danger? Adrenaline pumps out to give you an extra boost of energy for fight or flight purposes. Injury leading to a cut somewhere on our skin? Have the platelet go over there and cover the cut and have the white blood cells round up the bacteria that could've entered. Hungry with no food? Let me use this fat tissue as energy.
Alien: You mean you heal slowly or very fast depending on your injury?! What if your body can't heal itself or what if you're too weak to do the healing?! *panicking from the stress since humans are technically considered as Eternal Younglings given that they're the fastest to die from their short lifespan*
Human: That's when we go to the hospital. Our version of your healing technology.
Alien: Oh, thank the stars. So how long do you stay in your cryopad if you have a deep injury?
Human: Depends on how deep. If it's just a small cut or a small bruise then we don't go to the hospital. But if the injury is super deep or an organ is not functioning well or we're bleeding from the inside, then we have doctors who put us to sleep with this chemical called anesthesia and they operate on the cut and fix the messed up organs.
Alien: *concerned alien noises* Doctors are like healers, yes? How do they exactly 'fix' you?
Human: So, they inject us with this anesthesia, wait for us to fall asleep, then cut their way through our muscle, fats, and tissues before seeing the organs, maybe cutting up a bit of it to send to the labs or fixing it up. I don't really know the exact details since I'm just your plain worker.
Alien: Child, 'healers' who cut up patients are called as kiarvetj, killers! *exasperated, panicky actions* How... how often did you say that you Terrans go to this hospital again?
Human: Oh, I'm not sure for the rest of my kind but for those who are healthy enough like me who can function and not collapse or vomit blood or get in an accident, then pretty much never. Besides, even if I want to know if I'm sick of something, the price to have myself be medically checked is too much. So I just make do with herbs and stuff.
Alien: I think I'm going to have a word with the UIC (Unified Intergalactic Council) about this... AGAIN!

A recent pre-print study by a team of Japanese researchers has ignited a heated debate within the medical community, revealing serious risks associated with blood transfusions taken from individuals who have received COVID-19 vaccinations. The study highlights six key areas where COVID jabs destroy the continuity and biochemistry of human blood. The study has called into question the safety of using such blood in medical procedures.
According to the researchers, the COVID-19 vaccines — which have failed to stimulate a meaningful immune response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus — have unintended consequences that affect blood integrity. The team’s findings suggest that the vaccines can induce harmful changes in blood, which could pose risks not only to recipients of blood transfusions but also to those receiving organ transplants from vaccinated donors.
Six ways COVID vaccines cause blood damage:
The study indicates that spike proteins, which the vaccines are designed to produce, can persist in the blood, and accumulate in various organs. These proteins have been linked to several toxic effects, including damage to red blood cells and platelet aggregation. The researchers recommend that blood products be purified to remove these harmful spike proteins.
In some cases, the human immune system does not neutralize the spike proteins that are generated by the COVID-19 vaccines. Spike proteins that are not cleared by the body may lead to the formation of amyloid aggregates and microthrombi, or clusters of abnormal proteins and small blood clots. These aggregates are difficult to eliminate and can cause further health issues. Ensuring the removal of these aggregates from contaminated blood is crucial for patient safety.
Repeated vaccinations may impair immune function, resulting in insufficient levels of immunoglobulins (antibodies). Blood donated from heavily-vaccinated individuals may provide inadequate levels of immunity to common infections due to immune imprinting or class switch to IgG4. This could potentially make blood from heavily-vaccinated individuals less effective in fighting infections, cancer, and may pose risks to those with weakened immune systems.
The mRNA vaccines use lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to deliver genetic material. The study suggests that LNPs and pseudouridinated mRNA may remain in the bloodstream longer than anticipated, which could lead to inflammatory reactions and unintended spike protein synthesis in various body tissues.
The presence of aggregated red blood cells or platelets, another side effect of spike proteins, could increase the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular events if not properly addressed before transfusion.
Long-term exposure to the vaccine’s spike protein might result in the generation of IgG4 antibodies and memory B cells, which could lead to chronic inflammation and immune dysfunction.Unvaccinated blood is medically more valuable and should be the only blood used in transfusions
The researchers have called for an immediate review and overhaul of current practices regarding blood donations from vaccinated individuals. Their study highlights the urgent need for specific tests and regulations to address these serious risks.

My favorite poisonous flower.
Did you know that this flower is mistaken for Comfrey, another plant who's leaves are used to make tea? This mistake has resulted in illness and several deaths.

Uses: This is used in certain medicines to slow down heart rates, due to high blood pressure, and in medicines for heart failures. It is possible to be poisoned from overdosing on this medicine.
Type of poison: Foxglove has a toxin known as digitalis/digoxin. Side effects of this poison include blurred vision/yellow or green vision [xanthopsia] (and seeing a halo like shape around lights), fatigue, gastrointestinal effects, weakness, bradycardia [a heart rate under 60 bpm], lower platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), arrhythmias [irregular heart beats], and the very rare case of cardiorespiratory failure. These symptoms can occur through consumption of the plant, and sometimes through over doses on the medicine. It can cause irritations to the skin, like rashes, if touched, and can cause terrible reactions from its pollen in certain individuals.
Oleander

Many oleanders have a sweet, vanilla-like smell, however it is not recommended to smell them up close. These plants have been well documented in history, from Greek mythology to Vincent Van Gogh's painting titled "Oleanders." Despite it's deadly nature, it is quite popular among gardeners.
Uses: This plant is traditionally used to treat heart problems, asthma, and even cancer, but there is not enough evidence to support this actually having a positive effect. However there is more evidence of the leaves of the oleander being used as an effective anti-inflammatory and antioxidant under the right dosage.
Type of poison: The main type of poison in this plant is called toxic cardiac glycosides. But it also contains the poisons oleandrin, oleondroside, and digitoxigenin. These chemicals are found in all parts of the plant and affects the heart the most. The side affects if consumed include gastrointestinal effects, xanthopsia (yellow vision), eye irritation and burning sensation, effects to the nervous system such as tremors, seizures, coma, and cardiac effects including an increased heart rate that quickly slows to the point of death in some cases. If touched, it causes skin irritations and rashes, and can cause respiratory issues of the wood and leaves are burned.
Japanese Pieris

This is a plant that @nyaboshi shared with me. This plant is native to several countries in Asia, including Japan, China, and Taiwan. It is a symbol of powerful beginnings and new opportunities.
Uses: The main use of this plant is for a honey made from this plant called "Mad Honey," and it is used as a traditional medicine and for intoxication (which can lead to overdose and poison).
Type of poison: These plants contain Grayanotoxins. These affect the brain, nervous system, and heart. If consumed, this plant causes blurred vison, slower heart rates and lower blood pressure, gastrointestinal effects, weakness, fainting, cardiac failures, coma, and neurological side effects.
Deadly Nightshade

Quite the popular choice for poisoning. There are many many references to this plant in popular books, shows, and movies. It is also famous for being tied to witchcraft. Belladonna, as it is commonly known, is one of many in the Nightshade plant family. Some well known edible Nightshades include tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, and tomatillos. But Belladonna isn't the only dangerous plant in the Nightshade family, she has other deadly sisters.
Uses: This was used in cosmetics once upon a time. Please do not use it as such please. Surprisingly, there are many uses for Belladonna! Under the right doses, correct mixing of chemicals, and correct consumption/other way of taking this plant can help in reducing symptoms asthma, motion sickness, hemorrhoids, whooping cough, irritable bowel syndrome, and a few other ailments.
Type of poison: This plant contains alkaloids, such as hyocyamine, scopolamine, and atropine. Belladonna is known as one of the most toxic plants that we know of. Consuming this plant, including medicated Belladonna, can cause cardiovascular diseases (and other heart problems such as tachycardia [increased heart rate]), gastrointestinal disorders, complications during pregnancy, psychiatric/neurological disorders, rash, headache, staggering/loss of balance, delirium, dilated pupils, blurred vison, sensitivity to light, severely dry throat and mouth, hallucinations, confusion, constipations, and convulsions.
Touching these plants can cause severe dermatitis and may cause its toxins to seep through the skin.
Giant Hogweed

Considered to be a very invasive species. It is widespread across east to west Europe, Canada, and in the united states. Because of it's dangerous nature, it is deemed by U.S. officials to be a noxious plant, so that the spread of this plant can be limited.
Uses: Not really. Its cousin the common hogweed was used in some medicines, but I would not recommend going near these.
Type of poison: The sap of this plant contains furanocoumarins, which combined with sunlight is severely phototoxic. When any part of the plant is touched, but especially the sap, this causes severe phytophotodermatitis, a terrible and serious skin inflammation, that includes severe blistering (and I mean SEVERE! If you have a strong stomach look it up examples of reactions you dare), a deep red rash, and even photosensitivity. And if you accidentally touch your eyes after exposure, it can harm your vision and even cause blindness.
I haven't seen information for when it's consumed, which is a good thing. It would probably cause intense internal damage.
Please just avoid this plant. For some reason I do not like this plant one bit. Whenever I see this plant I go : ಠ╭╮ಠ
Poison Hemlock

You have probably heard of this plant or one of its siblings. This plant was used to execute prisoners in ancient Greece, including the famous philosopher Socrates. Fun plant huh? Also invasive.
Uses: Has been used as a sedative, antispasmodic treatment for symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, and for some respiratory diseases, all in very small doses. However, there is not enough evidence to really tell if these are positively effective.
Type of poison: Similar to Belladonna, this plant contains alkaloids, including C. maculatum, conium, and coniine. If ingested, it attacks the nervous system, and can cause fatal neuromuscular dysfunction as it will stop the movement of muscles in important organs including respiratory muscles, muscular paralysis, unconsciousness, coma, urination, depression, trembling, and weak or slow heartrate.
It is generally safe to touch poison hemlock, but it is better to be careful and safe.
Bittersweet Nightshade

Remember I mentioned Belladonna plants have other deadly siblings? Meet her bittersweet sister. In the Middle Ages this plant was said to ward off witchcraft (because of course it was). An interesting fact about this plant is that while it is toxic to humans, there are several bird species that love feasting on the berries.
Uses: This is used for skin conditions such as acne, eczema, itchy skin, broken skin, and a few others. It is also used for inflammation and easing arthritis, along with easing respiratory issues and illnesses like bronchitis, asthma, and pneumonia.
Type of poison: This plant contains solanine and a glycoside called dulcamarine. If consumed, and if over consumed via medical prescription, this plant can cause several gastrointestinal problems, confusion, mydriasis (dilation of the pupil), paralysis, delirium, numbness, shortness of breath, low pulse/slowed heartrate, convulsion, and weakness. It is unwise to take this during pregnancy.
This plant like is sister plant, should not be touched. Its toxins can be absorbed through the skin. So no touchy!
Western Monkshood/Wolfsbane
(Aconitum Columbianum/Aconitum Napellus)

This is plant is surrounded by myth and a long history. In folk tales, it was considered to kill werewolves and normal wolves, hence one of its names. In ancient times it was occasionally used as an herbal medicine, however, it has more of a reputation as a poison for executions and assassinations.
Uses: Once upon a time, this plant was used to reduce fevers, as an anti-inflammatory, sedative, and to relieve other ailments. However, this plant is considered to be one of the most poisonous plants in Europe, so the thought of someone using this today, is very unlikely.
Type of poison: This plant contains aconitine and mesaconitine, which is a dangerous neurotoxin and cardiotoxin. Side effects of consumption include gastrointestinal issues, cardiovascular issues (weak/irregular heartbeat, slowing and stopping of the heart), difficulty breathing, asphyxiation, neurological issues, paralysis, pain, convulsions, multiple organ failure (especially of the liver and kidneys), numbness (especially of the mouth and tongue), and paraesthesia (feeling sensations in the skin for no apparent reason, like feeling cold, tingly, or clammy).
Do not touch this plant. The toxins can be absorbed through the skin, and can cause many of the same effects if consumed, and can cause numbness wherever you touched the plant.
Lily of the Valley

Such a pretty pretty flower to finish of this list! This flower has been the national flower of Finland since 1967 (my gran's home country)! It is also the national flower of Yugoslavia. This plant is very popular, and has been used in many wedding bouquets, has been in several myths, the subject of art, poetry, music, and even shows (like "Breaking Bad").
Uses: Besides it being used for its sweet fragrance, it is supposedly effective heart problems, such as irregular heartbeat and heart failure, urinary tract infections, and kidney/bladder stones (HOWEVER, THESE ARE CLAIMS OF FOLK MEDICINE, NOT FACT).
Type of poison: This plant contains convallatoxin, which is similar to digitalis. If ingested it can cause heart problems such as irregular heartbeat/slow heartbeat and collapse, gastrointestinal issues, loss of appetite, excessive urination, confusion, drowsiness, weakness, depression, headache, disorientation, and lethargy.
This plant may cause skin irritation and possibly a rash/hives if handled for too long.

What are the differences between Time Lords and Gallifreyans?
There are quite a few biological differences between Gallifreyans and Time Lords - it would take a while to list everything so here's a quick overview.
more stable regenerations (less likely to accidentally regenerate without crucial body structures);
expansion of the brain's time lobe (increasing time senses and related functions);
symbiotic TARDIS connection (aka Rassilon's Imprimatur, linking Time Lord with TARDIS);
psychic link to the Matrix and other Time Lords (aka reflex link);
increased Artron levels with higher platelet concentration and aggregation (quicker healing+better immune response, it also causes their blood to be more orange than Gallifreyans);
higher blood capacity;
ability to use healing coma/respiratory bypass effectively;
higher resistance to pharmaceuticals.
These are just a few - some are covered by version 1 of the Anatomy and Physiology Guide (PDF link), but they'll be covered in more detail in GIL's version, with lots more text and pretty specially illustrated pictures, coming to screen near you soon.

ANOTHER regen question!
Let's see if I phrase this one right it's been rolling in my brain a bit
Assumptions are the character heals a slower than Wolverine and they've just suffered some serious blood loss. Like they lost ~3L of it and the wound has now closed up and the body's working to create as much blood as possible.
Given how bone marrow is where blood comes from, what sorts of things might they have to deal with in the recovery period? Like, as the body is taxing the marrow like that (and/or whatever else it has to)?
I'm going to assume this is a ~200lb man, just to give some leeway. So a big guy like this would have maybe 6 liters of blood in him (most humans range from 4-6 L). If he loses ~3 L, I would say he would probably just die. If blood loss is >40%, that's a Class IV hemorrhage, which presents with absent peripheral pulses, hypotension (low blood pressure), and no peepee output. This person will go into hemorrhagic shock. Since they lack the oxygen-carrying hemoglobin that is found in blood, they will not be able to supply oxygen to their tissues. This stops the usually metabolic processes and switches the body to anaerobic metabolism, which makes lactic acid and very little ATP (energy). Lactic acid leads to acidosis. Acidosis leads to cell death, coma, and plain ole death. He will die.
But wait! He's got regenetative powers to save him, right? No. If his powers aren't magical, then he will still die. Because regeneration is based on being able to replicate cells very quickly, he would need to do it fast enough to beat the cells that are dying. Unfortunately, he doesn't have enough ATP to do normal cell stuff and make a bunch more. Replication of cells requires a lot of ATP (energy). So he will still die.
Now, let me answer the second question, and we will go back to when he is still alive. Let's change it so he only lost ~30% of his blood volume (1.8L). He's still not doing good (he has Class III hemorrhage) but he can live. This will present with pallor, coolness in the limbs, altered mental status, narrowing blood pressure (the top and bottom numbers are getting close together), increased respiratory rate, and increased heart rate. The body is trying to keep blood flow to the vital organs. Let's say he survives and now he's home and trying to recover.
Blood has a lot of things in it, but the important bits are plasma (the liquid bit which makes up ~55% of blood), red blood cells (they carry oxygen), platelets (for clotting) and white blood cells (part of the immune system).
The most important one here are the RBCs. 90% of plasma is water, and you won't die right away without the other ones. The body measures RBCs through the kidney. If the kidney sees that you don't have enough of them, then it sends a hormone (EPO) to the spongey inner bone where blood is made. EPO causes more stem cells to turn into RBCs (instead of WBCs or platelets). To make these, you need iron. The iron stores of the body will be used, and you will take up more iron from your food.
Overall, I'd say the guy will feel like shit, and he should probably take a break for about 3 months while he replinishes his blood supply. He should eat foods high in iron, maybe take an iron supplement. But he'll be anemic while he recovers and be low on those other blood cells. Honestly, his regen powers aren't that useful here. They were useful in fixing whatever caused the blood loss, keeping him from losing a ton of cells to blood supply issues, and that's about it. If he doesn't have an advanced factor, then he can't really be helped with making more RBCs.

Note: this is not a real chapter, and was meant to be an author’s note at the end of the last (final) chapter but went a little too long, so I added some further lore context to some choices made in this fic. I would not usually do this at all, but in the spirit of Laios, I believe infodumping about my interpretation of monster lore to people who don't care is possibly the most canon-typical thing I can do.

The real truth is somewhere between the several options laid out by Kabru and Laios himself. 
Number one: Laios IS still a monster, because I subscribe to the “he just shape-shifted back human and doesn't have enough mana to be animalistic” school of thought. The book specifically mentions that the monster can shape-shift. His monster doodle page also debates angular snake heads vs round ones but his final form has a rounded/goofy snake head (see below), which are usually not venomous.

I really struggled with deciding if Laios’ deal is venom or poison. Since Kabru ingests it orally/tastes it, it’s poison, BUT it is also injected in the initial bites. I chose to categorise it as venom as it only occurs specifically when Laios bites down/’injects’. Though debatable (see the discussion on blood at the end), the venom in this case is an adaptive trait taken on when Laios turned human post three-heads. Overall, it is mostly comprised of hemotoxins (blood ouchie) with neurotoxin (nervous system ouchie) capabilities. In other words, for any vampire-esque monster, it makes perfect sense to keep prey alive yet unwilling/unable to run: eg, paralytic poison. For Laios specifically, the poison works as a semi aphrodisiac, in that it amplifies desire specifically. Kabru already kind of wants to eat Laios, and him really wanting to taste Laios creates a representative desire that Laios can eat. K tasting/drinking it makes it have a different effect than when it's injected into the wound (increased desire vs. an agent that breaks down platelets). Again, all monster traits have a function: in this way hunger-prey gets more bloody, sexy-prey gets more sexy.

Backtracking to other physical aspects. Chilchuck is half-right here. Laios’ horns and tail have been fully discarded. Unlike Falin’s more predominantly present sharp teeth (see below), Laios’ similarly positioned fangs only appear and lengthen in preparation to eat or in moments of severe emotional or physical distress. While latent, his regular canines are simply doubled, but Chilchuck doesn’t know enough about tallman anatomy to decode that. In essence, Laios kind of ended up with his wisdom teeth in place, despite not being born with them. He doesn’t have extra teeth, per se.

Laios’ eyes follow the dragon!Falin format of the extreme slits, but they do kind of even out to a regular round pupil when he’s stable + it’s bright daylight, which is why it’s not immediately apparent to non-Kabrus. 
I've definitely exaggerated the Laios/Kabru size difference in this. In part because I find wide men personally attractive but also bc Laios has gained a fair bit of mass post dungeon (also canonical).
Lorewise speaking, Laios’ big strong monster aura is powerful enough to keep every other monster at bay (see below), which is why Kabru is sometimes so primally afraid of him in this fic. HOWEVER. Kabru (half incubus) remaining in his presence for so long has had the effect of cementing him, subconsciously, as an extremely strong monster as well (even though it's his human cluelessness that's the reason). Therefore it’s essentially an equation that goes [strong monster + not part of diet + in vicinity = potential mate/equal]. On some level this is hinted to with Kabru’s intense power kink paralleling it, but tbf it’s also just how I see Kabru. He is not part of the diet due to wasps being generally wayyy too small for a body as large as Laios’ monster.

Why did this become a problem so abruptly? The Kingdom’s taken this long to reach a relatively stable plateau, and much like other biological processes being halted by extreme stress, so has this one. In addition, purely headcanon, but I believe that monster breeding seasons tend to work somewhat opposite to animal seasons. The passage of time becomes significant again, given that as a monster he's “matured” biologically and is entering his very first. sigh. ovulation? rut season? it's NOT omegaverse it is just laios.

The blood consumption is a side effect of iron deficiency (endless stomach edition) + food curse + mister King not understanding whether he wants to eat kabru or fuck kabru. The blood (see below) is kind of serving the same function as the desires (food) have to the Lion (addicting with an endless appetite). 
Again, Laios isn’t being stupid here: blood is the driving force of life itself. It’s about as close to magical vagueness loopholes as one can get. It’s not entirely right, as Laios still needs to consume desire itself to feel anything other than 40% full, but he’s on a fairly reasonable track.

Also, goes without saying: Laios drinking that amount of blood from a 100% human would have been very different, in that they would have passed out due to the venom 5 minutes in and promptly have needed to have their stomach pumped before they had a stroke. K is just built different. 
ALSO, kept vague and you can debate this according to your interpretation, but Laios is still very demisexual. he only wants to drink from kabru because kabru is the only sexual option. again, the blood consumption is partially borne from Laios being unable to catalogue sexual feelings from platonic, hence him deciding it'll only work with friends, which may or may not be true.

i am 25 so at least my pre-frontal cortex is fully developed unlike yours :)
anyway i'm learning about anti-platelet and anti-coagulant drugs in school right now. and i'm gonna use your anon to brain dump everything i know so that some actual use can come from the three seconds of my life i wasted reading this. okay so from my understanding when there is an injury that causes bleeding the injured endothelial cells release endothelium which promotes vasoconstriction of the smooth muscle cells to prevent blood loss. they also secrete von willebrand factors which bind to the collagen that the endothelial cells reveal underneath them. the platelets are just zooming by in our blood but they stop and bind to the von willebrand factors via their gpIb receptor, this binding also leads to a localized effect. this causes platelet activation and degranulation of thrombin, serotonin, thromboxane A2, and ADP. the thrombin binds to the PAR-1 receptor on the surface of the cell and further promotes platelet activation. TXA2 promotes vasoconstriction and helps promote the activation of the GP2B3A receptor. ADP can bind to either the P2Y1 or P2Y12 receptors, when it binds to P2Y1 it causes an increases in intracellular calcium. when it binds to P2Y12 it leads to a breakdown of cAMP via phosphodiesterase which eventually can lead to the activation of the GP2B3A receptor on the surface of the cell. the fibrinogen is able to bind to the GP2B3A receptor and then be converted into fibrin in order to start the linkage and meshwork surrounding the platelets. and then you have the whole coagulation cascade going on that i don't feel like explaining right now. you have COX-1 inhibitors like aspirin which irreversibly inhibit, via acetylation, the COX-1 enzyme that produces TXA2 so those levels will decrease leading to less vasoconstriction and less activation of the GP2B3A receptor. aspirin has adverse SE like GI issues like ulcers because in inhibiting COX-1 it's preventing COX-1 from producing PGE2 which helps protecting the stomach lining from the stomach acid. aspirin "allergies" work similarly, you can have bronchospams because PGE2 promotes bronchodilation. another class of anti-platelets would be P2Y12 inhibitors. your first-line would be clopidogrel, however, there is some genetic variability in how patient's react to it because it is a pro-drug. other pro-drugs that are irreversible inhibitors are prasugrel and ticlopidine, the latter is specifically not a first-line because it has an adverse effect of causing neutropenia. a P2Y12 ihibitor that is not a pro-drug and is reversible is ticagrelor. all four of these drugs have a rare SE of TTP. You also have PDE inhibitors that prevent phosphodiesterase from breaking down cAMP which would prevent the expression of the GP2B3A receptor. those are cilostazol and dipyridamole, the latter of which is on the beer's list and should not be prescribed to the elderly because there is an increase fall risk associated with it due to it cause orthostatic hypotension. there's also GP2B3A inhibitors that are only administered IV in hospitals because they have short-term effects so that means they are reversible; they are also used when patients are allergic to P2Y12 inhibitors. lastly, you have par-1 inhibitors like vorapaxor that prevent thrombin from binding to the par-1 inhibitor which will decrease platelet activation. and that's all i got because i don't feel like talking about anti-coagulation drugs right now.

Firstly, these both deal with blood. Had a patient at work with anemia and got to explain some of the science behind the human body with my partner and wanted to share
Parts of the Blood (x)
Whole Blood
Every part of the blood
55% plasma + 44% RBC + 1% WBC
Erythrocyte (Red Blood Cell/RBC)
Created in bone marrow and "survive" about 120 days. Gets red color from hemoglobin
Hemoglobin: Protein responsible for the transport of Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen
Leukocytes (White Blood Cell/WBC)
Cells that help the body fight against infections
Thrombocytes (Platelets)
Parts of cells that clump together to cause clotting
Excess can cause strokes or heart attacks
Plasma
The liquid part of blood used to transport blood cells, waste, anti-bodies, hormones, Platelets, and proteins through the body
Anemia: 
A condition where the human body does not produce enough RBCs.
(ie. Your body has room for 10 RBC but only makes 5)
Sickle Cell Anemia:
A condition where the body produces incorrectly shaped RBCs. These cells are unable to perform their jobs but still follow the life cycle of RBC. This is a genetic condition.
(ie. Your body has room for 10 RBC but 5 aren't shaped correctly. You still have 10, but only 5 work.)
Hypovolemia:
A term meaning "low volume". This usually means the person does not have enough Whole Blood in their body.
Usually caused by bleeding. Blood donations can also result in hypovolemic symptoms in donees.
Can lead to Hypovolemic Shock and death in cases of excessive bleeding
Otherwise known as "Bleeding Out"
Signs/Symptoms:
There is a lot of overlap between Anemia and Hypovolemic symptoms due to an important piece of science. The 2 most important parts of blood are: 1) the ratio of "volume of blood" to "mass of person" and 2) Hemoglobin levels
With Anemias, you will usually only see issues resulting from #2. These symptoms are due to the Hemoglobin being unable to move Oxygen and from the Lungs to various organs. This also cause a build up of Carbon Dioxide within the body. 
Anemia (Sickle Cell or otherwise) is usually diagnosed officially by doctors. It can be treated with Iron supplements (to support the creation of more RBCs) or with blood transfusions if needed.
Low Hemoglobin:
Dizziness/light-headedness
Nausea
Headache
Fainting/Near-syncope
Vitals
Heart rate will be lower than normal and might be weaker
With too much of the bad by-product and not enough of the raw oxygen for bodily chemistry, most individual with Anemia are also sensitive to temperature changes. This is caused by the body deciding to stop sending as much blood to the extremities so the vital (ie. important) organs have access to enough oxygen. This process is called "Shunting" and is seen in extremes with hypovolemia.
Hypovolemia, at its worst, can result in death. As the "volume of blood" within a person decreases, so too does their Hemoglobin levels. Symptoms usually come on quickly and can be difficult to counteract.
Low Blood Volume:
Dizziness/light-headedness
Fainting/Near-syncope
Chills and Cold Hands/limbs
Cyanosis 
Blue/purple coloring to the skin, usually most visible at the nail beds and lips
Result of body stopping blood flow to the area
Vitals
Heart rate will higher as the heart tries to less blood throughout the body
Will also be weaker. Possibly "thready"
Blood Pressure will be lower as the liquid (blood) filling the arteries/veins decreases
Breathing will increase as the body tries to circulate more oxygen to important organs
Hypovolemia can be temporarily stabilized by stopping the bleeding and administering intravenous (IV) fluids. This is only a temporary fix for low volume and the person will need a blood transfusion to return the lost RBC/Hemoglobin.
I (personally) have not encountered any characters with Anemia in media. Far too many characters die from blood loss to name any. If there's any character you want me to add, let me know and I'll take a look into them and add them here if they have Anemia or experience hypovolemia!
