Happy 22nd Anniversary, The Jungle Book 2
Today is the 22nd Anniversary of my favorite childhood movie...
Tumblr media
The Jungle Book 2!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has now been 22 years since we have seen Mowgli's new life in the Man Village living with his girlfriend, Shanti,
Tumblr media
and his foster brother, Ranjan!
Tumblr media
He still has the Jungle Rhythm in him, thus he misses his jungle home where he was raised in.
Tumblr media
Not just that, Baloo the Bear
Tumblr media
and Bagheera miss him too, and Baloo had to take Mowgli from the Man Village, leading Shanti and Ranjan to be in the jungle too.
Tumblr media
However, word of this went to Shere Khan, as he was plotting his revenge.
Tumblr media
Also, this movie had started the trend of Kaa hypnotizing female victims because of an encounter with Shanti.

Would the Snake Squad like taking about thier families?
I feel like Hiss and Jormungandr would, the rest… not so much
Hiss loves to talk about how wonderful his mother is/was. She was the one who made Hiss the sweet and intelligent serpent he is today, so he puts his mother on a pedestal.
Jormungandr may not see his siblings as often as he likes to but I like to think he’s close with Hecka (Hel) and Fenrir. He has no problem talking about them and sharing stories of when they were younger and more innocent. He’d also talk about his mother, Angrboda and how she tried her best with them. His father, Loki, is a bit of a touchy subject though
I think Ushari did have a family or at least a group of other cobras living in his hole in the Pridelands, but he hasn’t spoken to any of them since he turned to the dark side and honestly doesn’t want to think about what they think of him now. At least he still has his friends (the skinks and Kenge) to talk about
Fu-xi’s family is a suuuper touchy subject for him since they were mercilessly and needlessly killed by two-leggers. The memories of them, while all positive, makes him emotional. I will say Fu-xi does reminisce about his wife and 3 kids and how much he loved them. Talking about them just makes everybody sad :(
As for Kaa, what family? “What is thissss ‘family’ you ssspeak of?”

A Titan of the Indian Ocean: The Tyrant Shesha
Slithering through the lush reefs and seagrass meadows of the Indian Ocean lurks a slow, calculating predator, one of the biggest and most dangerous one can find in these waters. The largest non-tiamat snake of the Artechocene, the Tyrant Shesha (Nagaraja imperator).
Tumblr media
This titan is a naga, a member of a group of large python descendants that share mostly aquatic habits, large tail scales, sometimes forming a crocodilian-like tail paddle. Species that live in reefs like this one stay still in between rock crevices or below sediment for hours, waiting for prey to come close enough to launch their heads at it, no matter if the target is several times larger than one might expect a predator that size to take. After that, they usually stay without eating until it's fully digested usually coming out to shore to rest or breed.
The Tyrant Shesha however, is different, it has grown so large it can no longer support its own body, and remains underwater pretty much all of their adults lives, as only their young are small enough to go out of the water. Their size has its benefits though, as they are able to tackle the largest prey around: from sharks, to seabirds, to small to medium sized thalassochelonians, to the young of the largest animals of the Artechocene ocean, like Tiamats or Iricts.
One population, living in the Somalian seaway, takes advantage of the migratory patterns of the Spotted Tiamat, the smallest of the Tiamats.
Tumblr media
They stalk the shallows where they come every few years to give birth en masse, and instead of feasting of the fast, relatively hard to catch newborns, they strike the large tired mothers as they finish delivering the next generation, and constrict them until they drown, dragging them to the seafood and swallowing them whole, a feast that can make them go for a few months without eating.

Bruce’s hypnotic encounter (request for @toycoheartful)
“Great, I can’t believe I’m lost in this stupid jungle, How am I going to find my way out of here?” Complained Bruce Stone, What happen earlier is that he and and his friends are exploring a jungle and decided to camp there for the night but Bruce lost track of them and now since the jungle is known to be extremely dangerous at night, this causes Bruce to worry that what if a tiger comes out and mauls his or what if he accidentally stepped on a poison tree frog. So what’s the safest possible option for him? Climb up to a very tall tree. Although the trees are noticeably tall here, he did found the perfect tree to sit on its branch, although climbing was a struggle for him but managed to get on the branch in no time. “This will be perfectly, wait till I wake up and yell out for help so that way my friends could notice the echo of mine, but from now I needed some goodnight’s rest.” Before he could sit there and sleep. There was a familiar figure that resembles a snake. Bruce didn’t realize that it was not only the infamous Indian rock python, Kaa and he was hanging on another branch with his extremely long snake body, finally catching his only prey to hypnotize and eat. “Excusssssssssse Me” He hiss as he was getting closer to Bruce, which jolted him awake and give him quite a scare. “You can talk?!” He asked surprisingly, He never seen a python who can talk. “Oh Yesssssssssss, and it sssssssssseemsssssss like your ssssssssleepy, let me help you with that!” Kaa’s eyes begin to shine colorful rings of blue, yellow, and green. Same goes for Bruce, his eyes also have colorful rings, He tried to look away, but can no longer resist due to Kaa’s powerful hypnotic spell. Bruce was now in a hypnotized state, The world faded into a spiral of Green, blue, and yellow rings, a goofy grin begins to shine on his face while being in a trance. Kaa begins to coil up his hypnotized prey by wrapping his long tail around Bruce’s body. And when his tail finally reaches Bruce’s neck, Kaa squeezed the hypnotized man. Causing Bruce to let out a gulp. If Bruce wasn’t hypnotized, it would be a hard struggle to pry free from Kaa’s tightening coils, but he can no longer do that, not anymore. He was still hypnotized, colorful spirals were still in his eyes, and a long, goofy grin was imprinted on his face while being coiled up by Kaa who eyes return to normal. “What a cutie you are, Now, I’m feeling quite hungry, now you ssssstay there and let me gobble you up.” Kaa hungrily said, He open up his mouth which extended in a wide range. He let his coils carry the hypnotized Bruce Stone and push him headfirst into his maw and throat. In an instant swallow, Kaa ate him whole. “*glup* *sigh*, Oh what as delicious sssssssnack I have recently” Kaa sighed while wiping his mouth with his end tail like a napkin. “I know ihisssss friendsssss are out there too, I’ll make them join him inssssside of me.” Kaa said while giggling and slid his way out of here. So that way he could have Bruce’s friends as a meal according to him. Meanwhile inside of Kaa, Bruce was still in a hypnotized state, the digestive fluids covering him and the sounds of gurgling didn’t bother him at all, his eyes started to shut down which leads to Bruce falling into a deep sleep while being inside of the python.

18.08.23
We watched Walt Disney's The Jungle Book (1967).
IMDb Link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061852/
The Jungle Book is a 1967 musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution.
The film is based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book of the same name. It was the 19th Disney feature film and the final film produced by Walt Disney who died during its production.
The film plot follows Mowgli, an abandoned human child raised in the Indian jungle by Wolves. Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear have to convince Mowgli to leave the jungle before Shere Khan arrives to kill him.
Wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle_Book_(1967_film)
Early versions of the screenplay and soundtrack were more faithful to the book with a dramatic, dark and sinister tone which Disney did not like. Leading writer Bill Peet was replaced. Much of Peets work was thrown away but his characters were kept but made more happy and funny.
Work on the animation began on June 5th 1965. The animation was done by Xerography, using rough artistic edges to contrast the round animals. Background were hand painted and used in the foreground and background to create a feeling of depth.
The character of Baloo was based on real footage of bears and their movements in the wild. This was one of the first animated films to study animal behaviour.
A Disney trademark of using previous cel-sequences from other films was used for the Jungle Book. This includes 101 Dalmatians and A Tiger Walks.
The films score was composed by George Bruns and orchestrated by Walter sheets. The score features six original songs, five by the Sherman Brothers and one by Terry Gilkyson who wrote The Bear Necessities. The songs have become classic in their own right. The songs are as follows:
- The Bear Necessities - Trust in Me - I Wan'na Be Like You - Colonel Hathi's March - That's What Friends are For - My Own Home
For more information on the production of The Jungle Book, see:
Favourite scenes in The Jungle Book:
- The wolves scene at the beginning, who adopt Mowgli and raise him.
- The King Louie scene where he sings 'I'm the King of the Swingers'. ''Have Two Bananas!''
- The vultures 'That's What Friends are For' scene. The vultures where influenced by the Beetles who came from Liverpool. - - The 'Trust in Me' scene featuring Kaa the Rock Python who tries to hypnotise Mowgli with his eyes and the song!
- And of course, The Bear Necessities, which Baloo sings with Mowgli in the river.
The Jungle Book was released in October 1967, 10 months after Walt Disney's death. The film was a massive success, costing $4 million dollars to make and earning over $23 million dollars by 1970.
The film was re-released throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s and is regarded as being in the top 50 grossing films of all time.
The film has been released to home media on all available formats from VHS to streaming. The Jungle Book was digitally re-mastered in 2014.
The original aspect ratio of The Jungle Book is 1.37.1, the alternate theatrical released was 1.75:1.
The Jungle Book received positive reviews upon its release. This was partly due to the affection for Walt Disney after his death. Although it was nothing like the book, the film was seen as simple, bright and delightful entertainment.
It still has a rotten tomatoes approval rating of 88%.
In later years the film has received some criticism for being racist, however this was not the film makers intention.
In 2016, a live action/CGI version of the Jungle Book was released. It is darker than the animation but it is highly regarded.
I have seen the live action version recently on BBC iPlayer.
I first saw the Jungle Book in the late 90s on VHS, more recently I brought a copy of the film on Blu-Ray disc in 2017. This version was watched on YouTube Movies. The Jungle Book looked fantastic on my 4K LG TV!
I particularly enjoy watching Kaa, as I like snakes!
My favourite stories from Rudyard Kipling were his 'Just So' stories which I first read in the classic children's Golden Treasury book. My favourite story from 'Just So' is How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin!
Obviously the film isn't up to modern animation standards, but it is still really enjoyable to watch with its catchy songs and engaging characters.
It is a classic!

Reptile Rescue: Creating Safe Habitats for Cold-Blooded Creatures When most people think of wildlife rescue, they picture elephants, big cats, or birds. But India’s rich biodiversity includes thousands of reptile species—snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodilians—that are often overlooked in rescue efforts. These cold-blooded creatures suffer from habitat loss, urban encroachment, road accidents, poaching, and the exotic pet trade.
Fortunately, sanctuaries like Vantara Anant Ambani are expanding the definition of compassionate care to include reptiles, creating specialized habitats that support their survival and healing.
🦎 Why Reptile Rescue Matters
Reptiles play vital roles in ecosystems as predators, scavengers, and prey. Yet, when they’re displaced or injured, they’re often misunderstood or feared rather than helped. Many rescued reptiles come from:
Illegal wildlife trade
Injuries from traffic or agricultural machinery
Burns from wildfires or electrocution
Pet abandonment due to size or behavioral issues
Their recovery requires expert care, species-specific knowledge, and carefully controlled environments.
🏞️ Building the Right Habitat
Unlike mammals or birds, reptiles rely heavily on their environment to regulate body temperature and behavior. Sanctuaries like Vantara Anant Ambani are creating habitats that meet the unique needs of each reptile species. Key features include:
1. Thermal Zoning
Basking spots with UVB lighting or natural sunlight
Cooler retreat zones to avoid overheating
Substrate that retains warmth for burrowers
2. Humidity Control
Misting systems and water features for species like turtles and pythons
Dry, sandy enclosures for desert lizards and certain snake species
3. Naturalistic Design
Logs, rocks, and climbing branches for movement
Hiding spots for stress reduction
Native plant life to simulate the wild
🛠️ Medical and Nutritional Rehabilitation
Reptiles rescued from captivity or injury often face:
Metabolic bone disease from lack of UV exposure
Dehydration and starvation
Shell rot or scale infections
Parasitic infestations
Sanctuary veterinarians address these with targeted treatments, appropriate diets (live prey, insects, greens, etc.), and gradual environmental adaptation.
🌿 Behavior and Enrichment
Though reptiles aren’t as expressive as mammals, they still benefit from:
Foraging challenges using hidden food
Obstacle climbing and burrowing opportunities
Seasonal environmental changes to mimic natural cycles
This stimulation supports better health and more natural behaviors, increasing the odds of survival if released.
🐢 A Real-Life Rescue Story
At Vantara Anant Ambani, a rescued Indian Star Tortoise was found dehydrated and inactive after being smuggled for illegal trade. Through months of careful hydration, basking therapy, and a tailored diet, the tortoise slowly regained its strength. Today, it roams a specially designed habitat with other rehabilitated tortoises, thriving in safety.
🔁 When Release Isn’t Possible
Some reptiles cannot return to the wild due to permanent injury or loss of natural survival skills. These animals become long-term residents in sanctuaries, contributing to:
Educational programs on reptile conservation
Research on reptilian health and welfare
Ecosystem modeling within protected enclosures
🧬 Conclusion
Reptiles may not seek affection or display emotions the way mammals do, but they are just as deserving of care and respect. Sanctuaries like Vantara Anant Ambani are proving that every species—from sloth bears to star tortoises—deserves a second chance.
Because every scale, shell, and slither matters.

A long serpentine tail, mottled with intricate, earthy patterns, slowly descended from the jungle canopy, winding its way around the lion’s slim waist and hoisting him up into the branches.
Prince John’s golden fur stood on end as he writhed and shrieked with indignation. “Hiss! Hiss! Stop that at once! Put me down this instant, you blithering boa! This is an outrage!” But it was only when he saw the face of a colossal python smiling down at him that it truly dawned on the hapless monarch just how much danger he was in. “Help! HEEELLLLLLP! SOMEBODY SAVE ME!”
Sir Hiss desperately slithered through the jungle as fast as his limbless body would allow him. He wished more than ever that he had a pair of legs.
Panting with exertion, he bumped into the large pink dragon he and his superior had been travelling with. “Reverie! You’ve got to do sssomething! It’s an emergency!” “Slow down, Hiss, you’re out of breath. Now, tell me, what’s happened?”
Shuddering with dread, Hiss spoke again. “It’ssss that python, that awful python! He’s taken PJ away!” Reverie’s bright green eyes widened in horror. “Oh, no. I hate to think what he could be doing to him…”
“Trusssst in meeee, jusssst in meeee. Shut your eyes…and trusssst in meeeee…” As Kaa concluded his eerie lullaby, a ridiculously dopey smile emerged on Prince John’s face, accompanied by a soft Ping! noise that reverberated in his empty mind. The helpless lion was completely wrapped up in his captor’s thick, muscular coils, psychedelic rings of rippling colours reflected in his eyes. With a soft, hissing laugh, Kaa admired his handiwork. He couldn’t wait to devour his latest meal.
Reverie spat out a mouthful of leaves. His head emerging from the dense foliage once again, he surveyed the treetops. “Still no sign of him. Sir Hiss.” “Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear…” Sir Hiss clung to his winged companion, his fear mounting with each passing second. “Poor Prince John, ensssnared by that insssidiousss fiend! We sssimply mussst find him, heaven knows what will happen if we don’t!”
Kaa’s empty stomach rumbled ominously. Prince John snored softly. “Yesssss, lion cub, jusssst keep ssssleeping. You won’t be here in the morning…” A malevolent grin stretching across his face, Kaa’s huge mouth began to open…
“KAA! Hold it, Kaa!” A swift punch was delivered to the python’s mouth, knocking him over backwards and sending him tumbling from the branches, rapidly unwinding as he did so. The rushing, spinning sensation finally brought Prince John back to his senses. “Aaaaargh! What on earth is going on!?”
“We’re saving your life, that’s what’s going on!” Reverie pulled his friend closer with one talon, the other grabbing the tip of Kaa’s tail. “Oh no you don’t, Kaa, you’re not getting away that easily!” The dragon spread his wings. “Come on, you two, let’s head back to the encampment. I think we’ll have to teach this python a lesson, don’t you?”
