The climb the vessels make, and the fate most will meet.
Tumblr media
The vessels rage, they scorn and hate the pale king. They hate him, their father. Yet they, and seemingly everyone else in Hallownest know nothing of its early years. How did the pale king, and by extension, Hallownest, come to be?

Fenrir By Istrandar https://twitter.com/istrandar https://www.instagram.com/istrandar/
I think this is one of the best illustrations of what happened to Fenrir.
One of the stories;
Odin thought it would be best to let Fenrir roam around the green fields of Asgard, he seemed no different to any other wolf. Tyr was the only one to befriend Fenrir, he would give him gristle and bone. The Norns came to the gods and renewed their warning of Ragnarok. The gods agreed that Fenrir must be caught and fettered, his size and strength were growing day by day. They devised a challenge of strength for Fenrir. First they brought the chain named Laeding and asked, "Are you as strong as this?" Fenrir inspected Laeding and said, "It's certainly strong, but I'm stronger." After the gods fettered him Fenrir took a deep breath, dug his feet into the ground, then flexed every muscle in his body. Laeding shattered into hundreds of pieces. The gods wasted no time in forging another chain named Dromi. The gods went to Fenrir and said," If you can break this chain you will be known for your strength in all nine worlds." Fenrir agreed to be fettered once more, and Dromi shattered. The gods were both astonished and frightened by Fenrir's strength. Odin advised the gods to go to the dwarfs to have something made that could fetter Fenrir. The dwarfs made a ribbon named Gleipnir, made from; the sound a cat makes when it moves, roots of the mountains, breath of fish, birds spit, and woman's beard. The gods went to Fenrir for a third time and showed him the ribbon and said," It's stronger than it seems, It's well woven as the words of a poem, but you, Fenrir, you'll be able to break it." Fenrir looked at Gleipnir," I'd win no fame for snaping it, but cunning and magic have gone into making it. I will not be fettered by this." One of the gods replied," If by a chance you're not able to break it we'll set you free, you can trust us." Fenrir snarled back, "It would be a long time before I can hope for one of you to help me. I don't want to be fettered by this ribbon, but neither do I want to be seen a coward. Let one of you place his hand in my mouth as a token of your good faith." All the gods looked at each other and said nothing. Then Tyr put his arm in Fenrirs mouth. Once the gods fettered him with the ribbon Fenrir began to struggle. The gods seeing that they finally fettered Fenrir they all began to laugh, all but one, Fenrir bit off Trys' arm. Then one of the gods drew his sword and drove it into the roof of Fenrir's mouth ramming the hilt against his lower jaw. Angrboda and Loki looked on as the gods tyed the ribbon to the stones Gjoll and Thviti, rendering no aid to their son. Fenrir's howls and cries were terrible, saliva streamed from his mouth forming the river Van.

Wandering Monster
Everyday Drabbles #826
Tumblr media
Some spells cost the practitioner that casts them their very lives, either through exertion or miscalculation. The creature does not know to which type its summoning belongs but suspects the latter. It appeared in the chamber, claws scraping stone and wings brushing the cramped ceiling, and watched the summoner collapse before it. It wondered, for the first time, what it should do. It waited for a command, but none came. It eventually became hungry and ate. It still waits, wandering the halls of the mage’s now abandoned tower, looking for someone who can provide it purpose or perhaps another meal.
